ALARM SOUNDS EVERY TIME DOOR IS OPENED. IT DOESN'T STOP UNTIL KEY IS PUT IN IGNITION AND TURNED. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER IT IS OPENED WITH THE FOB OR THE KEY. LOCKS ALSO RANDOMLY LOCK AND UNLOCK. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THIS? THIS APPARENTLY IS A PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE OF CAR.
FUEL LEAK FROM GAS LINES AT FUEL PUMP AND GAS TANK
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT SPEED IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER TAKING FOOT OFF GAS. THE DOORS ALSO STARTED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK AND EVERY LIGHT POSSIBLE ON THE DASH CAME ON. SPEEDOMETER READ ZERO EVEN THOUGHT STILL MOVING.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING ABOUT 38 MPH AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING BEEPED AND DISPLAYED ON MY DASH. THE STEERING TIGHTENED UP A BIT, AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN, AS I WAS DRIVING (I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER THEN DROPPED TO ZERO, BUT THE TACHOMETER CONTINUED TO REV (I WANT TO SAY) BETWEEN 2 & 3 RPM, WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL IN MOTION. THE LOCKS WERE CLICKING UP AND DOWN TOO WHILE THIS WAS ALL HAPPENING. THEN THE CAR BUCKED AND THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN WORKING. THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT REMAINED LIT DURING THE WHOLE TIME. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT FOR SAFETY. THIS WAS CLEARLY A DRIVING SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE VEHICLE SLOWING DOWN WHEN THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WERE OTHER AFFECTED PARTS, BUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO SELECT THE BOXES: ELECTRICAL; OTHER (SPEEDOMETER) THIS ALSO HAPPENED TODAY: 07/10/16, PROMPTING ANOTHER COMPLAINT TO BE FILED.
WHILE DRIVING MY 06 CHEVY COBALT, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND BLINKS CONTINUALLY AND MY STEERING WHEEL WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE. THE RECALL WAS CALLED AND MY CAR WAS SERVICED SO WHY IS THIS ISSUE HAPPENING AGAIN? IT'LL GO OFF FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND COME BACK ON. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX THIS, CHEVY NEEDS TO FIX THIS, ONCE AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING AND I PULLED OVER TO A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL.... I WALKED AROUND MY CAR, TIGHTENED MY GAS CAP. EVEN REPLACED. AND NOW FUEL IS POURING OUT ON MY DRIVERS SIDE THROUGH ONE OF THE LINES. NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. BUT IS VERY HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE WITH.

I KEPT SMELLING A VERY STRONG GAS ODOR AND SAW GAS DROPS UNDER MY CAR. WHEN DRIVING, CAR WOULD FEEL SHAKY LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL AND WHEN I STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE CAR WOULD SHAKE VERY HARD AND THEN IT WOULD ACTUALLY STALL. IT STARTED OUT AS A LEAKY FUEL LINE BUT TURNED INTO BOTH FUEL LINES SNAPPING OFF THE FUEL PUMP. I HAD IT REPAIRED IN JUNE, 2016. THERE IS A "SILENT RECALL" ON THIS PART, BUT NOT FOR MICHIGAN CARS (WHY NOT MICHIGAN CARS.. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM .. THE STALLING ISSUE AND THE FIRE ISSUE). ALTHOUGH THIS "SILENT RECALL" OR THE "SPECIAL WARRANTY" GM ISSUED TO COVER THIS PART DOES NOT EXPIRE, THE TIME TO GET REIMBURSED EXPIRED IN 2014, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE. MY CAR DIDN'T BREAK UNTIL 2016, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO FILE A CLAIM 2 YEARS PRIOR TO IT BREAKING?
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY RECALLS ON MY MODEL AND YEAR OF CAR (2006 CHEVY COBALT). THE MOST CURRENT ISSUE I AM HAVING IS A GAS LEAK NEAR THE TANK (REAR PASSENGER SIDE). FOR SOME REASON, THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THAT MY PARTICULAR CAR, BASED ON WHERE IT IS REGISTERED IS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL. I LIVE IN KANSAS, I BOUGHT THE CAR IN OKLAHOMA. OKLAHOMA-REGISTERED VEHICLES ARE COVERED, KANSAS-REGISTERED VEHICLES ARE NOT CURRENTLY. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE AND QUICK BEFORE MY CAR EXPLODES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I WAS DRIVING AND SMELLED GASOLINE. I PARKED AND FOUND IT DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE CAR. TOOK IT TO A FIRESTONE AUTO REPAIR AND THEY SHOWED ME THAT THE FUEL LINES WERE RUSTED THROUGH. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF GM CARS AND TRUCKS. A WEB SEARCH CONFIRMED THIS TO BE TRUE. I BELIEVE THAT FUEL LINES SHOULD NOT RUST AND LEAK GAS ON A CAR WITH ONLY 96,000 MILES ON IT. THE COST FOR THIS REPAIR IS $992. I BELIEVE THIS IS A HAZARDOUS AND LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM AND GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BY A NATIONAL RECALL. THANK YOU. *TR

FUEL LINE LEAK
CAR SUDDENLY BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. WHEN MOVING, STATIONARY, ANY SPEED, IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP ABOUT 7 TIMES NOW AND THEY CANNOT FIX MY CAR, AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. IT JUST SHUTS OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE BREAKS LAND STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP AND I LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR. I ALMOST RAN OVER CHILDREN CROSSING THE STREET WHEN I MADE A TURN. I HAD TO USE MY EBREAK AND I BARELY STOPPED IN TIME. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AND MY IGNITION SWITCH RECALL CANNOT BE FIXED. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I FEEL LIKE I'M GAMBLING WITH MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHERS IF I DRIVE MY CAR. SO I CANNOT DRIVE IT NOW. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE COURSE OF 2 YEARS I'VE HAD THIS CAR.
MY FUEL TANK IS LEAKING GAS AROUND THE TOP WHERE THE SUPPLY/RETURN PORT IS LOCATED FOR THE FUEL PUMP. NOTE THIS IS A 2006 COBALT THAT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE REFERENCED RECALL. TAKADA RECALL. THE LED INDICATOR ON MY STEERING COLUMN WILL SHOW POWER STEERING, AT WHICH POINT IF MY RPMS DROP BELOW 1000 THE CAR WILL STUTTER, THE POWER STEERING TURNS OFF, AND IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. USUALLY HAVE TO PULL OVER AND LET CAR REST FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES BEFORE I CAN WE ENGAGE THE IGNITION AND DRIVE AT A SAFE MANNER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING WHERE IT BECOMES EXTREMELY UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAVE CHECKED VIN NUMBERS AND CALLED CHEVROLET ONLY TO BE TOLD MY VIN NUMBER AND CAR IS TOO HIGH FOR THEIR RECALLS.
GAS SMELL OMITTING FROM UNDER THE BODY INTO THE CAR . CAR IS STATIONARY THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME , UNLESS ON MY WAY TO WORK . USUALLY TAKING CITY STREETS TO WORK . CAR IS PARKED AT HOME IN THE GARAGE.
EVER SINCE I PURCHASED CAR IT'SEEMS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. FIRST IT WAS BOTH CONTROL ARM BUSHING AFTER 1 MONTH OF PURCHASING MY 06 CHEVY COLBALT. I'VE SINCE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRONT END ALL EXCEPT FOR THE STEERING COLUMN.WHICH MAKES A LOUD UNSETTLING RATTLING NOISE WHEN I GO OVER THE SLIGHTEST BUMP OR WHEN I TURN MY WHEEL LEFT TO RIGHT WHILE IN THE PARK POSITION. BUT NOW EVEN MORE SCARY MY CAR HAS BEEN STALLING OUT RANDOMLY AND I'VE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINT'S ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I'VE HAD OIL CHANGES AND TUNES UP AND A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND I'VE BEEN TOLD THE CAR IS OKAY.IT'S NOT OKAY! TODAY IT STALLED OUT WHILE ACCELERATING AT A GREEN TURN ARROW AND I GOT HIT FROM THE BACK BY THE CAR BEHIND ME TURNING AS WELL. NO HUGE DAMAGE BUT I'M AFRAID AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS THE REAL ISSUE.
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WHEEL IS ACTING WEIRD IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE MIGHT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. NEED IT FIX PER CODE 10V073000
I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE AND WHEN IT FAILED TO START, I PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. HOWEVER, UPON ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE KEY BACKWARDS TO REMOVE IT, IT FAILED TO COME OUT. IT REMAINS STUCK IN THE IGNITION.
WE HAVE A 2006 CHEVY COBALT WITH 81000 MILES. THIS VEHICLE BELONGED TO MY FATHER WHO IN TURN SAVED IT FOR MY SON. THE PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING IS THAT WE SAVED THIS VEHICLE SO THAT IT WOULD BE A GOOD STARTER CAR FOR MY SON BUT WE HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT IT IS UNSAFE. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP FOR SOME WORK TO BE DONE ON THE CAR FOR THE FRONT STRUTS TO FIND OUT THAT IT HAS A GAS LEAK. UNKNOWN AS TO HOW LONG THE LEAK HAVE BEEN GOING ON. ONCE FINDING THAT INFORMATION OUT WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER TO SEE ABOUT A RECALL ON THE CAR. TURNS OUT THAT THERE IS A RECALL #090226 FOR THE LEAK BUT FOR THE FUEL PUMP BUT NOT FOR THE FUEL LINE. I WAS TOLD BY THE CHEVY SERVICE DEPARTMENT TECH THAT IT IS UNKNOWN HOW THE PROBLEM MAY HAVE OCCURED OTHER THAN BEING OUTSIDE OR WHAT TYPE OF LANDING THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON. I'VE HAD 3 DIFFERENT VEHICLES & NEVER HAD A FUEL LINE LEAKAGE PROBLEM LET ALONE HAVING ANY TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE BY BEING OUTSIDE OR BEING PARKED ON THE STREET. NOW IF THE FUEL LINE & FUEL PUMP WORK HAND IN HAND WHY WOUNDN'T THE FUEL LINE BE APART OF THIS RECALL. AS A CUSTOMER, I DO BELIEVE THAT IF THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP THEN THEY WOULD REPLACE THE FUEL LINE IN ORDER FOR THE PARTS TO WORK PROPERLY. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR ME BECAUSE CUSTOMERS WOULD BE RIDING AROUND WITH A MAJOR HAZARD & WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW IT UNTIL THEY WERE IN AN ACCIDENT THAT MAY RESULT IN BEING FATAL. THERE IS NO REASON WHY THIS COMPANY WOULD RECALL ONLY 1 PART OF THE ISSUE & NOT THE ENTIRE ISSUE. JUST ANOTHER WAY OF DISMISSING THE SAFETY ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLES THAT THIS COMPANY HAS INCURRED OVER THE YEARS.
MY CAR WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH NJ DOT COMPUTERS FOR INSPECTION AND IT WILL SHUT DOWN THE POWER STEERING AT TIMES AND THE TRANSMISSION BUCKS AND THE GAUGES ACT UP ALSO THE CAR ROUGH IDLES AND WANTS TO STALL AND HAS .THE DEALER REFUSES TO FIX UNDER THEIR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES NOT A RECALL BUT THEY SAID THAT CHEVY COBALT HAVE A ISSUE WITH COMMUNICATING WITH THE DOT COMPUTERS FOR INSPECTION AND SAME PROBLEM EVERY TIME I GO FOR STATE INSPECTION LAST TIME IT TOOK 6 TIMES FOR THEM TO GET IT RIGHT .NOW APPARENTLY IT WASN'T IT JUST WAS TEMP. THE DEALER TRIED TO TELL ME THEY DIDN'T WORK ON IT AND KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM .FINALLY AGREED THEY DID AND THERE'S A REPROGRAMMING FIX THEIR SUPPOSED TO DO BUT WANT AT LEAST AN HOUR OF LABOR TO CHECK IT .AFTER CHECKING ONLINE THERE ARE TONS OF COBALT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING) AND NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE10005 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,764.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,400.
