THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE MODULAR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY TO THE FUEL PUMP WAS FRACTURED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN SHE SMELLED A STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ODOR WAS STRONGEST WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AFTER BEING RECENTLY DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
IN 2012, MY 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT WAS RECALLED FOR A POWER STEERING. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP IN NEBRASKA WHERE THEY PERFORMED THE WORK BUT STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX PERMANENTLY. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND ENDED UP PAYING TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE AGAIN ONLY TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING GO OUT AGAIN WITHIN A WEEK OR SO. I TRIED TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP SO I COULD GET THIS ISSUE FIXED BUT THEY JUST SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE A WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO EXCEPT PAY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN / RACK AND PINION. WHEN THE IGNITION RECALL CAME OUT, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HENDRICK'S CHEVROLET IN CARY, NC. THEY PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR AND I WAITED FOR 3 MONTHS TO HAVE THAT REPAIRED. I ASSUMED THEY WERE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND FIX THE POWER STEERING SINCE IT WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER RECALL AND THE RECALL WAS NOT EVER HANDLED CORRECTLY. HOWEVER, GM STATED THAT THE RECALL HAD FIXED THE ISSUE AND THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I LET THEM KNOW THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE AND THAT BETWEEN THE CURRENT POWER STEERING RECALL AND THE ONE FROM 2012, THERE HAS TO BE A CONNECTION THAT THIS CAR'S STEERING WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS NOT EVER PROPERLY FIXED. GM ASKED THAT I COME PICK MY CAR UP AND IS REFUSING TO DO ANY FURTHER REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY FEEL THE CAR IS TOO OLD AND THAT I WAITED TOO LONG (I WASN'T WAITING ON ANYTHING - I HAD BEEN EXPECTING GM TO HONOR THE RECALL AT SOME POINT IN TIME. I BELIEVE THAT GM HAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF ME BECAUSE I AM A YOUNG WOMAN AND DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY. *TR

ONE DAY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I HAVE A 2007 CHEVY COBALT IT HAD A RECALL ON THE STEERING ASSIST EVER SINCE THE STEERING LOCKS UP AND THE GAUGES START FLASHING I CALLED CHEVY AND THEY DO NOT DO RECALLS ON RECALLS THEY SAID IT WOULD BE AT MY OWN EXPENSE TO REPAIR. *TR

I CAN'T FIND A RECALL FOR MY FUEL LINE LEAKING BACK BY FUEL TANK.. THE GAS SMELL IS REALLY BAD AND IM FINDING GAS DRIPPING SLIGHTLY UNDERNEATH MY CAR HAVE TALKED TO CHEVY RECALL LINE THAY SAID THERE ISN'T ONE I HAVE SEEN SOME PEOPLE TALKING ONLY IN SOME STATES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR A RECALL TO REPLACE FUEL MODULE FOR FUEL ODOR? WELL THE MODULE WAS REPLACED WITH THE NEW MODULE KIT(3.107). BEFORE THIS REPLACEMENT WE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AND FUEL ODOR/FUEL GAUGE. NOW THAT WE HAD THE RECALL DOWN THERE IS A STRONG FUEL ODOR AND THE GAS GAUGE WILL READ FULL AT TIMES AND WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND TURNED BACK ON AFTER DRIVER .7 MILES THE GAUGE WILL SAY ITS ONLY GOT A 1/4 TANK OF GAS AND WE SWITCH THE CAR ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES AND IT WILL FINALLY GO BACK TO FULL BUT AFTER DRIVING IT ABOUT 3 MILES THE GAUGE WILL GO BACK DOWN TO A 1/4 TANK AND WE HAVE TO STOP AND CYCLE THE KEY ON AND OFF AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR IT TO GIVE A SOMEWHAT ACCURATE READING BUT AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES THE GAUGE WILL GO TO EMPTY. EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS EMPTY THE GAUGE WILL SAY THERE'S A HALF TANK OF GAS, I HAVE EVEN GOT STUCK MULTIPLE TIMES THINKING THERE WAS GAS IN THE CAR. ANYWAY POINT BEING THAT THIS MODULE KIT 3.107 GAVE ME ALL THE SYMPTOMS OF WHY IT WAS BEING RECALLED AND MESSED UP MY FUEL GAUGE AND THE DEALER REFUSES TO FIX IT AS WARRANTY SO BECAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE ISN'T PART OF THE RECALL. SO I FURTHER INVESTIGATED ON MULTIPLE ONLINE FORUMS AND IT SEEMS EVERYONE THAT GETS THIS RECALL DOWN HAS HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE AND A FUEL ODOR THEY DIDN'T HAVE BEFORE THE RECALL. SO IM HOPING THE NHTSA WILL FURTHER INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, THIS COULD BE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD/HIGHWAY/DARK LONG DIRT ROADS WITH NO GAS STATIONS FOR MILES. SO PLEASE READ THIS AND CHECK YOUR COBALT BY CYCLING THE IGNITION AND YOU WILL SEE AFTER MODULE REPLACEMENT THE FUEL GAUGE IS ERRATIC/GAS ODOR IS NOW PRESENT. CHEVYS CHEAP RECALL IS JUST NOT CUTTING IT AND THEY NEED TO LOOK INTO RECALLING THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WITH THE MODULE CAUSE THIS PROBLEM SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS TO EVERY COBALT I HAVE SEEN WITH THIS RECALL. *TR

OUR 2007 COBALT LS IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT BELOW FUEL SYSTEM ISSUE, BUT IS NOT INCLUDED AS PART OF THE RECALL DUE TO WHERE IT WAS SOLD OR REGISTERED IS NOT IN THE STATES LISTED. THE GAS SMELL/FUMES AND VISIBLE LEAK WHEN PARKED AT AN INCLINE ARE EXTREME. WE ARE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR IT WILL EXPLODE OR CATCH FIRE. IT WAS PURCHASED USED IN MID-2010 FROM A DEALER WHO WILL NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT WITHOUT CHARGING A SIGNIFICANT FEE, LET ALONE THE COST OF REPLACING WHATEVER IT IS THAT NEEDS REPLACED. NOTE - THIS VEHICLE IS REGISTERED AND TITLED IN MY MOTHER-IN-LAWS NAME. SUMMARY = GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT AND SATURN ION VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF ARIZONA AND NEVADA; AND MODEL YEAR 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT, PONTIAC G5 AND SATURN ION VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, NEVADA AND TEXAS. THE PLASTIC SUPPLY OR RETURN PORT ON THE MODULAR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY MAY CRACK. IF EITHER OF THESE PORTS DEVELOPS A CRACK, FUEL WILL LEAK FROM THE AREA. IF THE CRACK BECOMES LARGE ENOUGH, FUEL MAY BE OBSERVED DRIPPING ONTO THE GROUND AND VEHICLE PERFORMANCE MAY BE AFFECTED. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,000.

I HAVE A FUEL LEAK IN THE UPPER PART OF MY GAS TANK. *TR
STARTED SMELLING GAS. CHECKED FUEL SYSTEM. FOUND GAS LEAKING FROM TOP OF FUEL CELL WHERE PLASTIC LINES ENTER TANK. GOOGLED PROBLEM....FOUND MANY, MANY REPORTS OF SAME PROBLEM. GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE, BUT ONLY FOR THOSE SOLD OR REGISTERED IN ARIZONA AND NEVADA. I LIVE IN VIRGINIA. CONTACTED GM...WAS INFORMED MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE I WAS NOT IN EITHER OF THOSE STATES. MY VEHICLE HAS 77,740 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY GM NO MATTER WHERE THE VEHICLE IS REGISTERED. *TR
I STARTED TO SMELL GAS WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. THE VIN IS WITHIN THE RANGE OF GM'S RECALL NOTICE NUMBER 09226, BUT WHEN I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE IT DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE EXACT VIN, EVEN THOUGH IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME DEFECT IMPACTING THE OTHER VEHICLES THAT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT IS COSTING APPROXIMATELY $600 TO $700 TO FIX. THAT IS ABOUT 20- 30 PERCENT OF THE TOTAL VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND GM KNOWS THIS ISSUE. THEY DID PROVIDE ME WITH A CLAIM OR COMPLAINT NUMBER. THEY NEED TO INCLUDE THIS IN THE RECALL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. *TR

MY HUSBAND BOUGHT HIS CAR NOV.6, 2008 AND SINCE THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM ANYTHING BUT THAT ONE WINDOW ON THE RIGHT OF THE BACK SEAT WON'T MOVE. ANYWAY, ON OCT.22, 2011, MY HUSBAND WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OFF, THANK GOD HE MADE IT SAFE TO OUR HOME. ON MONDAY, HE MADE THE APPOINTMENT TO THE DEALER PLACE FOR THE RECALL WE KEPT ON PUTTING OFF. SO THE FOLLOWING MORNING, TUESDAY, THE DEALER REPLACED THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE THAT WHOLE DAY. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR WON'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL. THE UN/LOCK BUTTON WON'T WORK AS IF THERE'S NO POWER AND THE CAR WON'T START. *TT
EXPERIENCED STRONG FUEL ODOR IN AND AROUND VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING. CONTACTED DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND SCHEDULED APPT TO HAVE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. OWNER RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND VEHICLE RECALL 09226A. WHEN VEHICLE WENT IN FOR SERVICE, OWNER WAS ADVISED BY SERVICE REP THAT RECALL WAS NOT FOR THE VEHICLE AND CHARGES WOULD APPLY. VIN INDICATES IT WAS IN THE VIN BREAKPOINTS BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY OF THE STATES IDENTIFIED (ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, NEVADA, AND TEXAS). APPEARS THE GM AND/OR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE MISINTERPRETED THE RECALL TO MEAN BOTH THE VIN BREAKPOINTS AND THE AFFECTED STATES HAVE TO BE VALID FOR THE RECALL TO APPLY. REPAIR WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY. OWNER NEVER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO ALL VEHICLE OWNERS WITH VINS WITHIN THE BREAKPOINTS WITH NO CONSIDERATION GIVEN TO A PARTICULAR STATE. *TR

THE ODOR OF GASOLINE AROUND THE VEHICLE AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS A FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THEM, HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT UNDER THE RECALL LIST AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR IT.
