TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE PARKED THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHEN SHE NOTICED THAT THE KEY HAD BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT ALLOWED THE BATTERY TO DIE IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
NOTICE VERY BAD GAS SMELL AFTER ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE STORE HEADING HOME ENGINE WAS HEISTING REALLY BAD. PARKED THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT TURNED OFF THE CAR ASAP. LOOKED UNDER NEATH THE CAR AND SAW FUEL LEAKING I JACKED THE CAR UP WITH THE JACK. I SAW FUEL COMING OUT FROM ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK. I CHECK OUT THE FUEL LINES AND NOTICE ONE WAS CRACKED. HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TOMORROW 2/27/12 TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP. HAS LESS THEN 80,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS CRASHED INTO FROM THE REAR AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHEEL BEARINGS ON THE LEFT FRONT WENT OUT IN FEB, 2012 THEN IN JULY, 2015 THE RIGHT ONE WENT OUT. IN ALL OF OUR OTHER CARS WE HAVE OWNED WE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A WHEEL BEARING LET ALONE TWO SO WE ASSUME THERE MUST BE A DEFECT.
IGNITION SWITCH. COULD NOT TURN OFF ENGINE. COULD TAKE KEY OUT IN ANY GEAR BUT WOULDN'T TURN OFF ENGINE. HAD TO PULL FUSE OUT TO GET IT OFF. FOR 79,732 MILES I THINK THIS IS A HAZARD. *TR
LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE POSSIBLE COVER UP BY GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING AN IGNITION SWITCH DEFECT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HER SON WAS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER STATED HER SON HAD SEVERAL KEYS ON HIS KEY CHAIN. THE KEYS BEGAN TO SWING BACK AND FORTH WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. HER SON LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. *JB
AFTER DRIVING THE CABIN AND TRUNK AREA FILLING UP WITH GASOLINE FUMES. *TR
DECEMBER 29, 2011, I WAS DRIVING HOME ONE EVENING IN THE COBALT WHEN MY CAR'S ENGINE SHUT OFF AND I LOST CONTROL ON A SEMI-RESIDENTIAL A FEW BLOCKS FROM HOME. DRIVING AT ABOUT 35-45 MP, DOWNHILL, I HIT A PARKED CAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD (NARROW ROAD, CARS PARKED ON BOTH SIDES, 2-WAY STREET). I THOUGHT, "I'M GOING TO DIE". THIS IMPACT MADE THE CAR CONTINUE ON, FASTER AND MORE OUT OF CONTROL, HITTING ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET AND I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY HITTING THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL/BUMPER OF THE COBALT AGAINST THE A PARKED TRUCK TO AVOID DRIVING INTO AN INTERSECTION OR ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. NO AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. THE CAR THEN FLIPPED OVER, AND THAT'S HOW THEY FOUND AND RECOVERED ME. I AWOKE HOURS LATER IN SHOCK TRAUMA AT WASHINGTON HOSPITAL CENTER IN DC (WHERE I WORKED AT THE TIME), WITH THE CAR TOTALED AND JUST A SCRATCH ON MY HAND. I JUST HAD ACHES/PAINS, NO BROKEN BONES, BUT HAD TO TAKE SOME TIME OFF WORK. I HAD NO HEALTH INSURANCE AS I WAS A CONTRACTED EMPLOYEE. CAR INSURANCE PAID OFF THE EXPENSE OF VEHICLE. THANK GOD NOBODY WAS KILLED NOR SERIOUSLY INJURED. I HAVE ALL PAPERWORK, PHOTOS BUT I STILL DON'T DRIVE, MAYBE JUST ONCE A WEEK. THE YEAR OF THE COBALT IS FROM 2009, BUT I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE CLASS ACTION SUIT, AS IT WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
I DROVE TO MY DESTINATION AND TRIED TO TURN OFF MY CAR, HOWEVER, THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF. LUCKILY, I DRIVE A 5 SPEED AND WAS ABLE TO KILL THE ENGINE BY POPPING OUT THE CLUTCH OTHERWISE I WOULD BE FORCED TO LET THE ENGINE RUN UNTIL IT RAN OUT OF GAS. WITH THE ENGINE OFF, THE KEY WAS STILL STUCK IN THE CAR AND ALL THAT WAS NEEDED TO RE-START THE CAR WAS A GIGGLE OF THE KEY. THIS IS REALLY UNSAFE. WITH MY KEY STUCK IN MY CAR, I WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE CAR DOOR; OTHERWISE I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO REENTER THE CAR. THIS MEANT THAT A CHILD COULD HAVE ENTERED MY CAR AND WITH THE KEY ALREADY IN THE CAR (SINCE IT WAS STUCK) THEY COULD HAVE DRIVEN IT AND CAUSED SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH TO THEMSELVES OR TO ANOTHER. IF MY CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THEN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO WAY TO SHUT IT OFF EXCEPT FOR RUNNING IT OUT OF GAS. THIS COULD POSE A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK IN SEVERAL SITUATIONS SUCH AS A CAR BEING TRAPPED IN A GARAGE WITH LITTLE VENTILATION OR IF IT WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING LEAKING GASOLINE. GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAVE EVEN ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE MATTER (DOCUMENT ID: 2552146 ; #10256: CUSTOMER SATISFACTION - IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - REPLACE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER - (DEC. 14, 2010). THIS BULLETIN IS AVAILABLE ONLINE AT HTTP://5HIZN1T.VACAU.COM/10256.HTM#SS2-2552146. IT UPSETS ME THAT GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT FAILS TO TAKE ANY MEANINGFUL ACTION. THEIR "SERVICE BULLETIN" REMEDY IS ILLUSORY AT BEST. WHEN I TOOK A COPY OF THIS BULLETIN TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP THEY DID NOT HONOR IT. THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT ONE OF THE 2009 COBALTS THAT WERE INCLUDED. HOW NOT MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AS THEY WARNED. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS PHYSICALLY HARMED BY GM'S NEGLIGENCE IN THIS OCCURRENCE; HOWEVER IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT IF THIS PROBLEM GOES UNRESOLVED THAT SOMEONE WILL BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
REAR BRAKES ARE DRAGGING ON THE ROTOR AND GRINDING AT STOPS. *TR
AS I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE LOST POST WITHOUT AN APPARENT CAUSE. I FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, WHERE I REMOVED MY KEY AND WAITED FOR AROUND TEN MINUTES. I WAS THEN ABLE TO START MY VEHICLE. I APPROACHED A LOCAL DEALER WITH THE PROBLEM AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO TELL ME A LIKELY CAUSE. IT HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN BOTH SIMILAR AND DISSIMILAR ENVIRONMENTS SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT, EACH TIME WITH OUT ANY PRECURSOR EVENT OR WARNING. IT IS TRULY FRIGHTENING! *TR
WHEN BRAKING SOFTLY, REAR BRAKES MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND I'VE STARTED TO NOTICE SLIGHTLY UNEVEN WEAR ON ONE OF THE REAR BRAKE PADS. ALSO OCCASIONALLY WHILE MOVING IN REVERSE WITH FOOT BRAKES APPLIED I CAN HEAR A VERY VERY LOUD SOUND SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT AND WAY LOUDER THEN THE SOUND WHEN MOVING FORWARD. *TR
AT 20,300 MILES, THE INNER REAR BRAKE PADS HAD WORN COMPLETELY DOWN TO THE METAL AND SCORED THE ROTORS TO THE POINT THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP MAINTAINS THIS IS NORMAL WEAR. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE FINE AND THE OUTER REAR PADS WHILE WORN, WERE STILL WITHIN ACCEPTABLE LIMITS. AFTER SEEING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEB SITE (144 OUT OF 168 TOTAL COMPLAINTS, OR 86%) NEARLY IDENTICAL TO MINE, THIS IS CLEARLY A GLARING SAFETY ISSUE - 144 COMPLAINTS FOR A LOW-VOLUME 2-YEAR OLD VEHICLE. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE NHTSA HAS NOT INITIATED AN INVESTIGATION ALREADY. PERHAPS THEY ARE WAITING FOR FATALITIES CAUSED BY THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT BEFORE TAKING ACTION. UPDATED IVOQ 12/01/11. MY TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY IS 1/3 FILLED WITH WATER, DUE TO A BROKEN SEAL (WHICH IS ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER). DUE TO THE BROKEN SEAL, THE WATER DAMAGED THE ENTIRE L/R TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY, REAR TURN SIGNAL (DRIVERS REAR), THE LAMPS, BULBS, FLASHER, AND SWITCH. SEVERAL MECHANICS SAID THAT THE BROKEN SEAL IN MY 2009 CHEVY COBALT, APPEARS TO BE A CHEVROLET MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. *TR
KEY IS STUCK IN THE LOCK CYLINDER. CAN NOT TURN OFF CAR. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. ELECTRO-MECHANICAL RELEASE MECHANISM INTERLOCKED WITH GEAR SHIFTER APPEARS TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY (INSIDE BOTTOM OF STEERING COLUMN). THE KEY IS PHYSICALLY STUCK IN THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER, SO THE CAR CAN NOT BE TURNED OFF. QUICK SEARCH ON THE WEB REVEALS DOZENS OF THE SAME COMPLAINT ON COBALT MODELS AT LEAST BACK TO 2005. *TR
BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS DID NOT LAST. MY BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING WAY EARLIER THAN THEY SHOULD. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD. *JS
I PURCHASED MY 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT SS SEDAN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. WITHIN THE FIRST SEVERAL MONTHS, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE STARTED TO GET EXTREMELY LOOSE. IT THAN COMPLETELY STOPPED HOLDING WITHIN 6 MONTHS AND 40,000 TOTAL MILES. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS BEGAN TO PREMATURELY WEAR OUT EXTREMELY QUICKLY. SINCE THESE ARE NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND DEALERSHIPS REFUSE TO FIX THE ISSUE FOR FREE, IT'S VERY COSTLY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS. I CAN'T PARK ANYWHERE NEAR ON OR A HILL, DUE TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BEING COMPLETELY BROKEN. AND THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS NEED EITHER REPAIRED OR RESURFACED CONSTANTLY EVERY SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES. MY OTHER MAJOR ISSUE IS WITH THE TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM) THIS HAS BEEN GIVING ME AN ERROR CONSTANTLY FOR AROUND 10,000 MILES, ON HOW IT NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT WITH MAINTENANCE DONE ON TIME, AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES ADDRESSING THIS FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS ON 9/9/2011 AT 7:30 AM IN THE MORNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS ON 9/9/10 AT 5:00 P.M. THE VEHICLE STARTED AND WHEN ARRIVING AT DESIGNATED LOCATION THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP IN PARK. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, UNABLE TO TAKE KEY OUT OF IGNITION, THE VEHICLE WHEN PUT INTO OTHER GEARS WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. WE ATTEMPTED TO GET THE ENGINE TO STOP AND GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION BUT WE FAILED TO DO SO FOR A LENGTHY PERIOD OF TIME. THE BATTERY HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. THIS DECISION WAS MADE AFTER NO OTHER ALTERNATIVES COULD BE MADE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD HAVE CAUSE ELECTRICAL BURNS OR OTHER ISSUES WHILE DOING THIS. *TR
AT ABOUT 5000 MILES I NOTICED GROOVES DEVELOPING IN THE REAR BRAKE DISCS. AT 10,000 MILES I HAVE ONLY 35% LEFT IN THE REAR BRAKES AS THE GROOVES HAVE DEEPENED AND NOW DAMAGE THE PADS EVERY TIME THEY ARE ENGAGED. AT THIS RATE THE BRAKES WILL FAIL AT BEFORE 16,000 MILES OF USE. *TR
VEHICLE IS MAKING WEIRD FRONT END NOISES, KNOCKING, RATTLES, SHAKES IN THE STEERING COLUMN, VIBRATIONS WHEN DRIVING ON THE DRIVER SIDE BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL AND IN THE FLOOR, TIRES ARE MAKING A NOISE WHEN DRIVING LIKE SOMETHING IS HANGING. *TR
I HAVE A MANUAL COBALT SS 2009 AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING. I HAVE TO HAVE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO PARK MY CAR. I BEEN HAVING TO REST MY CAR IN A GEAR SO IT WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE. *TR
THE KEY WILL NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION CYLINDER. THEREFORE THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF. THERE IS A SPECIAL BULLETIN #10256 ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM INCLUDING ONLY THE 2009 COBALT HOWEVER AS THERE IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT REPAIR MY CAR BECAUSE MY CAR HAS A BRANDED TITLE AND THEY WILL ONLY REPAIR 'OPEN RECALL' ITEMS. THIS ISSUE IS NOT LISTED IN THE GLOBAL DATABASE WHEN MY VIN IS SEARCHED BUT IT NEEDS TO BE LISTED UNDER MY VIN AND THERE NEEDS TO BE AN OPEN RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS CERTAINLY A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM THAT MANY OWNERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE CAR OFF IS TO GET UNDER THE HOOD AND REMOVE THE FUEL RELAY FUSE. IN CASE OF A FIRE THIS WOULD BE A CATASTROPHIC SAFETY ISSUE WHICH COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AS A RESULT, A SECOND VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AND NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. ALSO, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THE FAILURE. NO INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE REGARDING THE DIAGNOSIS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 38,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION KEY WOULD FAIL TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVE FROM IGNITION SWITCH WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE KEY BEING STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITIN YET THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE LOCK CYLINDER WOULD NEED REPLACING AND THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THEY WILL CONTACT THE DEALER AND CHECK ON THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,900. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE REAR BRAKES STARTED MAKING SOME NOISE AT 15,000 MILES. LOOKED AT THEM AND DIDN'T SEE ANY UNUSUAL WEAR. CHECKED AGAIN AT 18,000 MILES AND THE REAR ROTORS ON BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE ARE SCORED TERRIBLY, WAS GOING TO GET THEM RESURFACED BUT THE METAL IS BEYOND REPAIR. I CHECKED ONLINE FOR A POSSIBLE FIX WHEN I CAME ACROSS A FORUM SITE SPECIFICALLY FOR MY CAR THAT HAS LISTED MULTIPLE INCIDENTS IN THIS SAME NATURE WITH THE SAME CAR. *TR
THE REAR BRAKES FAILED ON MY CAR AT AROUND 28,000 MILES. AS SOON AS I GOT THE NEW ONES INSTALLED THEY STILL ARE TERRIBLE, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WOULD BE SUCH BRAKES THAT FAIL SO EARLY AND COULD CAUSE HARM TO PEOPLE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE BRAKES, THEY ARE ENTIRELY TOO UNSAFE. *TR

I HAVE HAD 3 INCIDENTS THAT I BELIEVE ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FUZION TOURING TIRES ON MY 2009 CHEVY COBALT. THE FIRST WAS A REAR END COLLISION IN EARLY JULY, APPROXIMATELY 5 DAYS AFTER I HAD THE TIRES INSTALLED ON MY CAR. WHEN I NEEDED TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP THE FRONT WHEELS LOCKED UP AND THE CAR SKIDDED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF MINE, THAT HAD MANAGED TO STOP BEFORE HITTING A CAR THAT HAD SWERVED IN FRONT OF HIM. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON OCT 14, 2011. I WAS GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION DURING A RAINSTORM. THE INTERSECTION HAS A SLIGHT LEFT BEND TO IT. I WAS TRAVELING AT 35-40 MPH WHEN A VAN TRIED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF ME. HE WAS WAY TOO CLOSE AND I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD. THE FRONT WHEELS IMMEDIATELY LOCKED UP AND MY CAR ROTATED 90 DEGREES COUNTERCLOCKWISE WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN AT ALL. FORTUNATELY, THE DRIVER OF THE VAN REALIZED THAT HE HAD SCREWED UP AND GOT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION RAPIDLY AND A COLLISION WAS AVOIDED. THEN LAST NIGHT, OCT. 16TH, AGAIN IN THE RAIN, I TRIED TO STOP AT A YELLOW LIGHT ON A SLIGHT DOWNHILL GRADE FROM ABOUT 45 MPH. AGAIN THE WHEELS LOCKED UP AND THE CAR SKIDDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AT ABOUT 40 MPH. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING SINCE 1973 AND HAVE LOGGED OVER A MILLION MILES. THESE FUZION TOURING TIRES ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS TIRES I HAVE EVER DRIVEN ON, ESPECIALLY ON WET PAVEMENT. I HAVE HAD OTHER TIRES ON MY COBALT AND NEVER HAD ANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I AM REPLACING THEM TOMORROW BECAUSE MY LIFE IS WORTH MORE TO ME THAN THE $400 THAT A SET OF TIRES COSTS. DRIVING IN THE RAIN WITH THOSE TIRES IS LIKE DRIVING ON ICE WITH NORMAL TIRES. THESE TIRES ARE POTENTIALLY DEADLY AND I THINK THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY AND THEN SHREDDED. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MENTION THAT THERE ARE NO TRACTION, TREADWEAR, OR TEMPERATURE RATINGS ON THESE TIRES. THE SIZE IS195/60-15, 88H. AFTER TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS DID NOT HAVE LUBRICATION ON THE SLIDING PINS WHICH RESULTED IN THE ROTORS FAILING AND THE BRAKE PADS BEING DESTROYED. CHEVROLET #08-05-22-004: INFORMATION ON BRAKE SQUEAL/SQUEAK NOISE - (JUL 15, 2008)] HOWEVER, I HAD TO PREMATURELY REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES AND HAVE THE ROTORS CUT AFTER ONLY 27,039 MILES, WHILE THE FRONT BRAKES STILL HAD 50% LIFE LEFT. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL OCCURRENCE, SINCE THE FRONT BRAKES SHOULD HAVE WORN OUT BEFORE THE REAR ONES. WHILE I WAS ABLE TO GET 27,039 MILES OF WEAR, THE FACT THAT THERE IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT IN THE SYSTEM MEANS THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE CONDITION WILL NOT WORSEN IN TIME. THERE IS ALSO THE CHANCE THAT THE SYSTEM COULD FAIL COMPLETELY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FINALLY, THE SCREECHING SOUND IS GETTING WORSE. THIS SOUND, ALONG WITH THE BRAKE WEAR, WILL VIRTUALLY REDUCE THE VALUE OF THE CAR CONSIDERABLY, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TRADE OR SELL, UNLESS GM CORRECTS THIS ISSUE.

ONCE IN JUNE OF 2010 AND AGAIN IN JUNE OF 2011. BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. AFTER THE SECOND TIME IT WAS REPAIRED THE LEAK APPEARED AGAIN WITHIN THREE MILES OF DRIVING.
