TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT EQUIPPED WITH NEGOTIATOR HP TOURING TIRES (N/A), SIZE 205/55R/16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE EXHIBITED A BULGE ON THE SIDEWALL. NEITHER THE TIRE NOR THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE OF THE TIRE AND THE VEHICLE WAS 45,000.
THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. CALLED CHEVY AND THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND IT. ALL OF THE 2009'S GOT RECALLED BECAUSE OF THAT INCIDENT, BUT THEY WILL DO NOTHING FOR ME ABOUT MY 2010!! WE DID HOWEVER, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY SO IT WOULDN'T GO DEAD! I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR AND NOW I AM HAVING ISSUES, DIDN'T BUY A NEW CAR TO HAVE ISSUES!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY REPAIRED UNDER RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL). THE FAILURE RECURRED AS THE CONTACT WAS LEAVING THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL THE MANUFACTURER WAS NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
I OWN A 2010 COBALT LT, ON APRIL 11, 2013 I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE CLOSED, I THEN WENT TO AN AUTO STORE FOR HELP. DISCOVERED I HAD ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINS IT WAS FINE. CAR WAS FINE UNTIL APRIL 18, 2013, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, I WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AND NO POWER STEERING,I SHUT OFF THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS IT WAS OK. THEN ON APRIL 24, 2013 IT DID IT AGAIN AS I WAS DRIVING, AGAIN TURNED OFF THE CAR IT WAS OK FOR A SHORT TIME AND WENT OUT AGAIN. HAPPENED AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING ON APRIL 25 & 26.EACH TIME I SHUT OFF THE CAR IT WOULD BE OK FOR A FEW MINS THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. I CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE ON APRIL 11, 2013 AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY SPECIFIC CAR YET I'VE READ SEVERAL ARTICLES ABOUT 2007-2010 COBALTS. I ALSO CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO TAKE CARE OF EVEN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR VERY MUCH BECAUSE OF THIS.THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE RECALL IS CLOSED, YET THE ARTICLE I READ SAYS THAT IT TAKES SOME TIME FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I BOUGHT MY CAR USED IN 2011 AND IF I HAD KNOWN THERE WAS A RECALL I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP PEOPLE WERE VERY RUDE AS I WAS VERY UPSET AT TRYING TO GET THIS RECTIFIED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES AS THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REMEDIED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING) BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT STOP THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FROM MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AS THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE STEERING WHEEL RETURNED TO NORMAL FUNCTION WHEN THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
DRIVING ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD WITH MANY CURVES. I WENT TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE. AUDIBLE AND DASH LIGHT WENT ON AT THE SAME TIME AS POWER STEERING FAILED. DASH SAID "POWER STEERING". STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN (OBVIOUSLY NO LONGER "POWER STEERING"). I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STEER CAR BACK INTO LANE. I HAD TO DRIVE THE REMAINDER OF THE HIGHWAY, ANOTHER 26 MILES, BARELY ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ON THIS MOUNTAIN ROAD. ABSOLUTELY FRIGHTENING! AFTER CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN, WARNING LIGHT CLEARED AND POWER STEERING WAS OPERATIONAL AGAIN. PREVIOUS TO THIS INCIDENT, I ALSO HAD INTERMITTENT AIR BAG FAILURE WARNINGS AND FALSE FLAT TIRE WARNINGS ON DASH. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CAR IN FEB.2012 AND I HAVE HAD IT MAINTENANCED AT MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER EACH AND EVERY TIME WERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO A 27 POINT INSPECTION WHILE CHANGING THE OIL HOWEVER THEY HAVE SEEM TO MISS A PROBLEM WITH MY POWER STEERING. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR I AM EXPERIENCING A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER MY CAR. UPON ARRIVING HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL , I CLOSED AND LOCKED THE DRIVERS DOOR TO SECURE THE VEHICLE FOR THE NIGHT AND DISCOVERED THE NEXT MORNING THAT THE DOOR WAS NOT LATCHED OR LOCKED . LUCKILY NOTHING WAS MISSING FROM THE CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V073000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. *TR

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FAILURE, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT WOULD DRIVE NORMALLY. 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE IGNITION & START SWITCH RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE SON WAS DRIVING, WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. ACCORDING TO AN EYE WITNESS, HER SON WAS NOT DRIVING ERRATICALLY, AND HE DID NOT MAKE ANY SUDDEN MOVES, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HE CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN SPINNING. HE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, AND HE HIT THE GUARDRAIL AGAIN. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ACCIDENT, WAS A RESULT OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

HAVING PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING, BELIEVING THE FIRST IN 3/2013..THE POWER STEERING FLASHES ON DASH AND STOPS STEERING CAR MAKING IT HARD TO CONTROL. WAS HAPPENING RANDOMLY AT FIRST ,BUT NOW 6/2014, IT HAPPENS DAILY AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ON SATURDAY,6/21/2014 IT HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN A 15 MILE STRETCH, AND ON MONDAY 6/23/2014, IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN A 30 MILE STRETCH. YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND TURN THE CAR OFF SO THE POWER STEERING CAN RESET ELECTRONICALLY. LUCKILY , I WAS ABLE TO DO SO BECAUSE IT IS SCARY WHEN IT GOES. THIS CAR IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN, AND CHEVY SAYS THIS COBALT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE POWER STEERING RECALL. A LOT OF TIMES I'VE HAD TO DRIVE A MILE OR SO TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF...AND IT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT BEFORE WHEN YOU CAN'T CONTROL IT! I HAD NOTICE TROUBLE NOT TOO LONG AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN JAN 2012 DUE THE CARS SHIMMY. I NOTICED THE TIRES GOING LOW & THOUGHT THAT WAS IT. THEN KEPT NOTICING THE TREAD WEARING AWAY MORE QUICKLY THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE THE TIRES LOOKED PRETTY NEW WHEN CAR WAS PURCHASED. IT WASN'T UNTIL MY FATHER TOLD ME I BETTER GET NEW TIRES BECAUSE THE TREADS WERE ABOUT SHOT & THE TIRES WERE BULGING. I TOOK IT TO A VERY REPUTABLE TIRE BUSINESS WHERE THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THERE WAS NO WAY HE COULD PUT TIRES BACK ON THE RIMS AS 3 OF THEM WERE BENT TO HELL. THIS IS WHY THE TIRES WERE WEARING QUICKLY. HE SAID HE HAD BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 30 YEARS & YOU DON'T NORMALLY SEE 3 RIMS BENT UP LIKE THAT & THEY HAD TO BE DEFECTIVE & I SHOULD GO BACK TO WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED FROM PA TO OH WHERE I LIVE!!. I MADE AN APPT WITH THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE & THE MANAGER STATED HE CANNOT HELP ME SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY!!! DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT!! I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY 3 NEW RIMS & TIRES!!! YOU CANNOT FIND USED ONE AS I'M SURE THEY ARE ALL SHOT TO HELL TOO!!! I HAVE RESEARCHED THE INTERNET & AM FINDING THERE HAVE BEEN RIM BENDING PROBLEMS FOR YEARS ON THE CHEVY COBALT!!! THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD & COULD CAUSE A ACCIDENT!! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE STILL PUTTING THESE CHEAP BENDABLE RIMS ON THESE CARS!!! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!! I BOUGHT A NEWER CAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE TO BE DUMPING MONEY INTO IT ALL THE TIME!! I BOUGHT A $2000 EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT DOESN'T COVER MY PROBLEM EITHER!!! STEERING WHEEL MAKES A LOT SQUEAKING NOISES AND CRUNCHING SOUNDS WHEN I TURN OR AM GOING OVER ROUGH PAVMENT. *JS
MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE EARLY ONE MORNING. THERE WAS NO RAIN OR BAD ROAD CONDITIONS AND PRAYS GOD HARDLY ANY TRAFFIC AT ALL. ONE MINUTE EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND WITHIN A SPLIT SECOND THERE WAS A LOUD THUD BELOW OUR FEET. MY GIRLFRIEND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WE WERE THROWN ACROSS THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE AND SLAMMED INTO THE GUARD CABLES WHICH AT THAT POINT IN TIME THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE GUARD CABLES CATAPULTED US BACK ACROSS THE INTERSTATE WERE WE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED. THE FIRST QUESTION OUT OF THE ARKANSAS STATE TROOPERS AND THE LOCAL COUNTY OFFICERS MOUTHS TO US WAS,"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR WHOLE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL?". THE TROOPER WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THAT THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT A "BLOWOUT" DUE TO THE FACT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO TRASH ON THE ROAD OR OFF THE ROAD THE ROAD THEY WOULD BE CONSISTENT WITH A BLOW OUT. THAT'S WHEN WE TOLD HIM THE CAR HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NOT 9 DAYS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT AND THE WHEELS AND TIRES AND BEEN ROTATED, THE OIL CHANGED AND AN INSPECTION COMPLETED ON THE CAR AND THEY TRIED TO SAY EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK. WELL NOW JUST AS A PASSENGER I HAVE 2 FRACTURED VERTEBRAE IN MY BACK, CANT SLEEP, HAD TO QUIT SCHOOL AND I HAVE NO IDEA OF WHICH WAY TO TURN TO GET THE HELP I NEED. FRIENDS PLEASE BE CAREFUL DRIVING THESE CARS. PLEASE. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A CHEVROLET MALFUNCTION OR DEFECTIVE PART. NOW WHAT DO I DO? *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AS I WAS GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY. SO SCARY!!!! WENT TO LOCAL DEALER FOR IT TO BE FIXED. THIS WAS BEFORE RECALL....HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR AT LEAST A HALF YEAR TO GET NEW IGNITION SWITCH....WAS ALSO TOLD THERE WILL BE A STEERING WHEEL RECALL.....HAVE NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF AND FEEL THAT I'M DRIVING IN A DEATH MACHINE. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, IT RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,033.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN! IT APPEARS THAT THE HANDLE IS NOT "ATTACHED" TO ANYTHING. YET ON LOOKING INTO THE INCIDENT ONLINE THERE ARE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING, AND THE "SOLUTION" IS TO BAND YOUR HAND ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR TO RELEASE IT. THE FIRST TIME THIS WORKED, HOWEVER IT IS ONLY AFTER CLIMBING OUT OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE TO DO THIS. BEING SOMEONE IS IN AN ACCIDENT OR UNABLE TO CRAWL ACROSS THE CAR AND OUT AN OPPOSITE DOOR, THEY WILL MOST LIKELY PERISH OR BECOME WOUNDED FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO EXIT THEIR CAR. FATALAITIES. IS THIS WHAT IT WILL TAKE FOR THEM TO ACKNOWLEGE THERE IS A PROBLEM?? THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED BEFORE THE RECALL NOTIFICATION WAS RECEIVED THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL WITH FORCE AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. The contact owned a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that, while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed during an ice and rainstorm with poor visibility, a vehicle parked sideways in the middle of the roadway suddenly appeared. Unable to stop in time, the vehicle collided with the driver's side rear of the other vehicle, causing it to spin and veer onto the shoulder of the roadway before coming to a complete stop. The air bags deployed but failed to properly inflate, greatly reducing their effectiveness, which the contact held responsible for the various injuries sustained by the three occupants. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. All three occupants were transported to a local hospital by EMTs. The driver was treated for facial injuries sustained from striking the steering wheel. The minor occupant, who was seat-belted in the front passenger seat, was treated for injuries suffered to the right side of their forehead after hitting and breaking the front windshield, as well as a contusion across their chest caused by the seat belt. The contact was treated for a dislocated left shoulder and sustained multiple bruises. I WAS HEADED TO WORK AND AS I WAS COMING INTO A SMALL TRAFFIC CIRCLE, THE CAR BEGAN DRIFTING, I LET GO OF EVERYTHING AND THE WHOLE THING SHUT OFF: ENGINE AND LIGHTS. THEN, THE RECALL HAPPENED AND IN FEB OF 2015 I HAD TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR THE PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL, THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION AND START SWITCH. IN MAY OR JUNE 2015 I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS ACTING WEIRD, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS ACTING ERRATIC JUMPING FROM 30 TO 60 THEN BACK DOWN TO 20. IT WAS JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS JUST IDLING THEN IT WOULD STALL OUT. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER THE LAST WEEK OF JUNE OR THE 1ST WEEK OF JULY, THEY CHANGED THE MODULE PANEL AND SAID IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I DROVE MY CAR OUT OF STATE ON JULY 17TH, ON THE WAY HOME IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN, THE ENGINE SEEMED TO LOSE POWER WHEN GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS ACTING ALL ERRATIC AND THE CAR WAS BUCKING LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL. ON FRIDAY THE 31ST OF 2015 THEY PUT IN ANOTHER IGNITION THINKING THE OTHER MAY HAVE BEEN FAULTY.
