FUEL LEAKS UNDER REAR DOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE, NOT FAR FROM THE TANK (1-3FT)
THE FUEL LINE CORRODED NEAR REAR DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR/WHEEL WELL. LEAKS FUEL REALLY BAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE UNKNOWN RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE IGNITION SWITCH AND STEERING WHICH WERE PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED HOWEVER, AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FEATURE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BAYWAY CHEVROLET (5719 BROADWAY ST, PEARLAND, TX 77581) WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL WAS NOTICED AFTER PARKING THE CAR IN THE GARAGE AND STEPPING OUT OF THE CAR ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE DRIVE BEFORE THE GASOLINE SMELL WAS NOTICED CONSISTED OF AROUND 5 MINUTES OF CITY DRIVING, 10 MINUTES OF HIGHWAY, FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER 5 MINUTES OF CITY. THE SMELL DOES NOT SEEM TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND SNOW MELT MADE CHECKING FOR DRIPS UNDER THE CAR DIFFICULT. THE CAUSE OF THE GASOLINE SMELL IS UNKNOWN.
FUEL IS LEAKING NEAR LEFT REAR TIRE -STEERING WHEEL MAKES CRACKLING NOISE WHEN TURNING
WHILE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED, WHEN YOU INSERT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TO START THE VEHICLE THE KEY WILL NOT MOVE AND THE KEY IS STUCK IN IGNITION.
I ENTERED THE GARAGE AND SMELLED THE STRONG ODOR OF GAS. THE CAR HAD RECENTLY BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE AFTER RETURNING FROM A 115 MILE INTERSTATE TRIP. AFTER INVESTIGATING I FOUND A PUDDLE OF GAS ON THE CEMENT FLOOR UNDER THE CAR IN FRONT THE THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. I STARTED THE CAR AND BACKED IT OUT TO THE DRIVEWAY DURING WHICH THE GAS LEAK WAS MUCH MORE SUBSTANTIAL. THE GAS LINE IS VERY CORRODED WHERE IT MEETS THE INSULATION WRAPPING NEAR THE CAR'S EXHAUST PIPE. IT APPEARS THE GAS LINE FAILED AT THAT SPOT AND WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED.

THE CHECK ENGINE AND POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXTRA EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,532
BEEN SMELLING GAS AND GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T SEEM GAS DRIPPING BY THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE GO TO INVESTIGATE IT AND I SEE A BUNCH OF FORMS OF IT LEAKING IN THE SAME SPOT AND IT EXACTLY WHAT IT IS
FUEL IS DRIPPING FROM UNDER VEHICLE, AHEAD FOR REAR LEFT WHEEL, FORMING A PUDDLE WHEN PARKED. FUEL STOPS DRIPPING AT SOME POINT AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT OFF PRESUMABLY WHEN FUEL LINE IS DRAINED. ENGINE IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART, REQUIRING ABOUT 10 SECONDS OF CRANKING BEFORE STARTING, PROBABLY DUE TO FUEL LINE HAVING TO BE REFILLED. HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER TO CHECK AND REPAIR THE FUEL LEAK.
MY POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT. HATED TO TURN ETC. THE CAR WAS GONE THEN JUST WENT BAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT CALLED TONY BROWN CHEVROLET (2935 BRANDENBURG RD, BRANDENBURG, KY 40108, (270) 422-2141) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,228.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that fuel was leaking from the fuel lines near the rear wheel well. There was an abnormal odor of fuel detected. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The contact mentioned NHTSA Action Number: PE20011 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER). The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
In past two months, I smelled some gasoline fumes inside the car when starting or/and shutting the engine and the odor became stronger over time. I have looked around and under the car but I couldn't find any evidence of gasoline leak. Then on few days before September 27, 2021, I had a bit of trouble starting the engine as I had to try twice before I got the engine running. On September 27, 2021, I then found the leaking of gasoline from a fuel line under the car next to left rear wheel well. It was dripping and left puddles of gasoline on the street. I decided not to drive it now because of potential fire from drippings. Now my car is now parked on the driveway with a piece of cardboard catching the drippings.
WHEN MY SON WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, THE STEERING ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME VERY STIFF AND HARD TO TURN AND STAYED THIS WAY WHILE DRIVING. NOW IT IS HARD TO STEER AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE TO A SHOP TO BE LOOKED AT.
FUEL STARTING LEAKING BY THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. THE FUEL IS DRIPPING FROM THE FUEL AND VAPOR RECOVERY LINES AROUND THE AREA WHERE THERE IS A HOLDING CLIP. LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE SPRAYING OUT ABOVE THAT AREA POSSIBLY WHERE THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED. I NOTICED THE SMELL OF FUEL FIRST WHILE DRIVING. ONCE THE VEHICLE STOPPED I FOUND GAS LEAKING AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
THERE IS A SEVERE FUEL LEAK ON THE FUEL LINE NEAR THE BACK OF THE CAR ON THE DRIVER SIDE. IT APPEARS TO BE A HEAVILY CORRODED AREA. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING IT IS A STEADY LEAK AS THE FUEL PUMP IS RUNNING. WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF THE LEAK EVENTUALLY STOPS ONCE ALL OF THE FUEL IN THE LINE HAS DRAINED OUT.
FUEL PUDDLE UNDER CAR- SHOP HAD TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP AS IT WAS LEAKING ON TOP OF THE TANK. GM REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AS THEY SAY ONLY 2006 THRU 2009 CHEVY COBALT'S HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A 2010 (LAST YEAR MADE) THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SENARIO - DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE A RECALL IS MANDATED.

AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE STARTED BUT FAILED TO ENGAGE WHEN SHIFTED TO DRIVE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR PRESENT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
I SMELLED A GAS SMELL WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE CAR ON DRIVERS SIDE. LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE AND IT HAS A GAS LEAK UNDER THE CAR NEAR THE DRIVERS BACK TIRE. IT IS LEAKING AROUND THE BRACKET/ SHIELD AREA.

THE LOCAL DEALER TEAM CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CADILLAC LOCATED AT 404 JAKE ALEXANDER BLVD, SALISBURY NC 28147 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. INVALID VIN PROVIDED.
I HAVE A FUEL LEAK. A HALF A TANK OF GAS DRIPPED OUT IN LESS THAN 6 MILES OF DRIVING.

STARTED SMELLING GAS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. AFTER I PARKED THE CAR, I NOTICED SOMETHING DRIPPING FROM RIGHT BEHIND THE DRIVERS DOOR UNDER THE CAR. I HAD SOMEONE LOOK IT AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS DEFINITELY A GAS LEAK. ONCE WE LOOKED UNDER THE CAR, WE NOTICED THAT THE GAS LINES WERE RUSTED AND THAT IS WHERE THE GAS WAS LEAKING OUT FROM.
PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, STARTED VEHICLE AND THE FUEL LINES STARTED POURING GASOLINE OUT. MY WIFE AND I NOTICED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE AND INSPECTED AROUND THE VEHICLE. IT WAS COMING FROM JUST IN FRONT OF DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL WHERE THE FUEL LINES AND EXHAUST SYSTEM BOTH GO UP AND AROUND THE REAR AXLE. LOOKED UP ONLINE TO FIND THAT THE REASON IS POOR DESIGN BECAUSE OF A HEAT SHIELD THAT WRAPS THE FUEL LINE TO PROTECT FROM THE HEAT OF THE EXHAUST PIPES ALSO ACTS AS A SPONGE AS IT STORES MOISTURE AGAINST THE FUEL LINES CREATING A POINT OF FAILURE.
GAS LEAR NEAR REAR ON PASSENGER BACK SIDE NEAR GAS TANK...SEEMS TO BE SHOOTING OUT NEAR FUEL PUMP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FELDMAN CHEVROLET OF HIGHLAND LOCATED AT 3372 HIGHLAND RD, HIGHLAND, MI 48357, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS CORRODED AND CAUSED THE FUEL LEAK. THE FUEL LINES WERE REPLACED AND THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
GASOLINE LEAK ON DRIVERS SIDE JUST AHEAD OF THE REAR TIRE.
VEHICLE IS LEAKING A LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL FROM A RUSTED OUT FUEL LINE LOCATED LEFT REAR ABOUT 12' IN FRONT OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE.
THE FUEL LINE HAS RUSTED AND GAS IS COMING OUT JUST IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. IT'S A 3-4 INCH SECTION THAT IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY AND IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT'S A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS THAT COMES OUT WHEN YOU START THE CAR WHICH IS A REAL FIRE HAZARD.

FUEL SMELL BY DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR. HARD TO START, DUE TO LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE. FUEL PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, FUEL LINE LEAK NEXT TO EXHAUST, FIRE HAZARD. WITH ALL THE FUEL LEAK REPORTS SAME AREA, SURPRISE THERE IS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY/FIRE HAZARD, COME ON GM FIGURE IT OUT.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND NOTICED A GAS SMELL. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED A MAJOR LEAK OF GAS COMING FROM IN FRONT OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE. MY FUEL GAUGE WENT FROM HALF TO NOTHING IN A MATTER OF MINUTES.

WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING START TO GET STIFF. WHEN YOU STOP THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT WANT TO TURN. ONCE YOU GET MOVING IT LOSSSENS UP A LITTLE.
CORROSION OF METAL FUEL LINE UNDER THE VEHICLE NEAR THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL. VEHICLE LEAKS FUEL ONLY WHEN RUNNING.

UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT FUEL HAD LEAKED FROM THE SUB FRAME NEAR THE FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 237,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT TURNER CHEVROLET (1251 PAXTON ST, HARRISBURG, PA 17104 (717) 234-4444) FOR STATE INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL LINES WERE CORRODED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,999.
AFTER PARKING I NOTICED A FUEL SMELL AND FOUND A SMALL PUDDLE UNDER THE BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR. TWO DRIVES LATER THE LEAK WAS A POOL AND THE CAR STARTED HAVING DIFFICULTY STARTING (DUE TO AN EMPTY FUEL LINE). I LIMPED IT DOWN THE ROAD TO MY.MECHANC WHO IDENTIFIED IT AS A LEAKING FUEL LINE. WE REPLACED BOTH LINES. NORMALLY I WOULDN'T FILE A REPORT, BUT I JUST SAW AN ARTICLE ABOUT AN INVESTIGATION INTO COBALT FUEL LINES. I FIGURED I WOULD CREATE A REPORT IN CASE IT HELPS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE 2007-2009 ON THE CORROSION OF THE GAS LINES ON DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID ITS THE SAME THING THATS HAPPENING TO MY CAR.AND THAT THEY ONLY DID THE RECALL ON 2007-2009 COLBALT MODELS .THE LAST COLBALT'S MADE WAS THE 2010 MODELS.WHY DIDNT THEY RECALL THEM ALSO.I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER CHEVY DEALER IN AMELIA AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING.THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP.ITS A SAFETY RELATED DEFECT FROM GM AND THEY KNOW IT.IF I HAVE TO I WILL GET A LAWYER AND SUE G.M. PERIOD.I CANT AFFORD TO FIX GM'S MISTAKES.THEY NEED TO COME CLEAN AND FIX THEM.IT LEAKS OUT GAS AND COULD START A FIRE OR EXPLODE WHILE I AM IN THE CAR.I DEMAND THIS TAKEN CAR OF BY GM AND STOP KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD.I WILL NOT STOP OR GIVE UP ON THIS .SENCE I WAS TOLD BY 2 DIFFRENT CHEVY DEALERSHIPS.
FOR MANY YEARS MY CAR HAS HAD A FAINT SMELL OF GASOLINE WHEN I GET IN IT AND I HAVE NEVER REALLY IDENTIFIED WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS A RECALL I WOULD HAVE HAD THESE LINES REPLACED YEARS AGO. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP IN JULY OF 2019. 3 MONTHS INTO HAVING THE CAR, AS I , MY MOTHER AND 6YO DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH , THE CAR STARTED TO JERK AND SLOW DOWN. THE 'ENGINE REDUCED POWER ' MESSAGE CAME ACROSS MY DASH . WE WE'RE ALMOST SIDE SWIPED AND REAR ENDED. ONLY FOR THE FACT THAT A FELLOW MOTORIST STOPPED BEHIND ME TO HELP MERGE TRAFFIC TO KEEP US FROM GETTING HIT , IS WHAT KEPT US FROM BEING IN AN ACCIDENT AND PULLING OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS AND I CAN'T IMAGINE AS A MOTHER HOW LOSING HER LIFE, OR THE LIFE OF HER CHILD WOULD HAVE BEEN DEVISTATING BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER'S ERROR!

FUEL LEAKING NEAR LEFT REAR WHEEL FROM ROTTED FUEL LINES. VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN, FUEL LEAKS WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING.
THE CAR HAS 75000 MILES ON IT AND THE FUEL LINE IS ROTTED OUT, ALL RUST. FUEL IS LEAKING BY REAR DRIVER SIDE PANEL WHEEL WELL. MECHANIC RECOMMENDED FUEL LINE, EVAP LINE AND FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT. THE LEAK OCCURS WHENEVER THE CAR IS RUNNING, IDLING OR DRIVING. NO LEAK WHEN CAR IS OFF.
I FIRST STARTED SMELLING SLIGHT GAS FUMES, DIDN'T THINK IT WAS FROM MY CAR AS I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT AND HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE IT WAS FROM MY CAR. THEN, YESTERDAY I NOTICED A SMALL PUDDLE ON THE GROUND UNDER MY CAR WHEN PARKED, LOCATED ON DRIVER SIDE JUST A LITTLE AFT OF THE DOOR AND TOUCHED IT AND IT WAS GAS. WHEN I GOT HOME I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND DUE THE PANDEMIC, IT WAS CLOSED. SO I CALLED GM CORP OFFICE, GAVE THEM THE APPROPRIATE INFORMATION THEY REQUESTED, AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD TRY AND FIND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP CLOSE TO WHERE I LIVE TO HELP ME BUT SEEMS, THEIR ALL CLOSED. THEY, GM TOLD ME THE LEAK IS NOT A"RECALL" YET WHEN I WENT "ON LINE" THEIR WERE DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT PROBLEM. I DON'T UNDERSTAND, DOES A LIFE OR LIVES HAVE TO BE LOST BEFORE GM STEPS-UP AND ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND HAVE A RECALL BEFORE THE WORST HAPPENS?. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND READ EXACT COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS FROM THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND MY YEAR AND PRIOR YEARS. I ALSO FOUND OUT IT IS A COSTLY REPAIR, SURELY THIS CANNOT BE A REASON NOT TO HAVE A RECALL, I WOULD HOPE NOT, TO PUT PROFIT OVER HUMAN LIVES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL LINE RUSTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WHICH THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO CORRECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FAMILY MEMBERS WHO OWNED SIMILAR CHEVROLET COBALT EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE COATED THE FUEL LINES AS THEY DID WITH BRAKE LINES, TO AVOID RUSTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 173,000.
