ANTI LOCK BRAKES MAKE NOISE. WARNING LIGHTS COME ON . OK ABOVE 30 MPH BUT BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS STAY ON. DEALER SAYS BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUBS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY WANT AROUND $1000 TO DO THIS. CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER. SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER [XXX]. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS,REQUESTED THIS IN WRITING THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME THIS IN WRITING . THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING THING WITH THIS TRUCK, AND MANY OTHERS FROM WHAT I SEE ON THE INTERNET. THEY SAY TRUCK TO OLD & TO MANY MILES, BUT THEY ADVERTISE LONG LASTING CHEVY TRUCKS.06 59000 MILES . ALSO HAD A $2900 PROBLEM WITH ENGINE . CHEVROLET HELPED ON THIS. COST ME ABOUT $530 TO FIX A FACTORY DEFECT. THANKS *TR
STOPPED AT RIGHT TURN YIELD SIGN BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES; CARS STARTED TO MOVE THE CAR AHEAD OF ME STOPPED AGAIN I PUT ON MY BRAKES AND SLOWLY HIT THE VEHICLE IN THE REAR. AFTER THE INCIDENT I NOTICE THAT MY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD SLOWLY GO TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I HIT THE VEHICLE MY PEDAL WAS HITTING THE FLOOR, I HAD NO BRAKES. NO DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE, MINOR DAMAGE TO OTHER VEHICLE'S PLASTIC BUMPER. *TR
FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY AS IF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE ACTIVATING. AFTER A SHORT TIME DRIVING, AN ABS WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATES INDICATING A FAULT. I AM VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE FIRST, THE BRAKES DO NOT ACT IN THE WAY A DRIVER WOULD EXPECT AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES I GET CONCERNED EVERY TIME THAT THE BRAKES WILL NOT WORK. SECONDLY, I BELIEVE THE FAULT MAY CAUSE THE ABS TO NO LONGER FUNCTION IN CONDITIONS IT HAS BEEN DESIGNED FOR. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM, IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AMONG COLORADO AND CANYON TRUCKS. A "FIX" FOR THIS PROBLEM IS REPORTEDLY IN THE RANGE OF $1500 WITH MANY OWNERS REPORTING THAT THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED OR CONTINUED. I FEEL THAT ANY ISSUE INVOLVING A FAULTY BRAKE COMPONENT MUST BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. CHEVROLET HAS CHOSEN NOT TO DO THIS AND I FEAR THIS MAY BE YET ANOTHER FAILURE ON THE PART OF GM TO ADDRESS A SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVING ONE OF THEIR VEHICLES. AFTER HAVING MY FRONT BRAKES REPLACED, THE ABS SENSOR ON MY BRAKES INTERMITTENTLY FAILS WHEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK. WHEN THE SENSOR FAILS, MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE IMPAIRING MY ABILITY TO STOP. THIS IS A WIDELY REPORTED PROBLEM WITH CHEVY COLORADO/CANYON TRUCKS AND GM NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND RECALL THE TRUCK AND FIX THE SENSOR. I HAD AN ESTIMATE DONE TO "FIX" THE SENSOR AND IT WAS OVER $1000, THIS IS AFTER ALREADY PUTTING $1000 INTO REPLACING THE FRONT BRAKES SIX MONTHS AGO ON A TRUCK WITH BARELY 40K MILES. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY COLORADO 4WD CREW CAB PICK UP WITH 22,000 MILE. THE ABS FAULT ALARM HAS BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF, STARTED ON 8/4/2011. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THEY STARTED TO PULSATE AS IF IT WAS HARD BRAKING AND I WENT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND INTO THE ONCOMING LANE. THANK GOD THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE AND GET OUT OF THE LANE OF TRAFFIC. SINCE THEN THE ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY AND I LOOSE THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I BELIEVE THE FRONT HUBS MAY BE FAILING OR THE SPEED SENSORS WHICH IS BUILT INTO THE FRONT HUBS ARE FAILING.

THE REAR BRAKES LOCK UP AT SLOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO STOP. THEY WILL DO THIS IN SUCH A WAY THAT CATCHES YOU OFF GUARD AND THROWS YOU FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED A FEW SERIOUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE LOCK UP TAKES AWAY CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. THE SEVERITY OF THE LOCK UPS VARIES SOMEWHAT. THEY MAY LOCK THEN UNLOCK BUT THEY CAN JUST AS EASILY LOCK UP AND BRING THE TRUCK TO A SKIDDING STOP. THEY ARE ALSO SQUEALING SEVERELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL FAILED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE HEATER BLOWER SWITCH ONLY WORK ON THE FOURTH SETTING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH HE HEARD A SQUEALING NOISE ON THE FRONT BRAKES AND LATER IT WAS A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC IN THE AREA WERE HE WAS TRAVELING. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENTIRE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,561 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,243.
