THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP, WHERE IT WILL NOT WORK UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I REPLACED THE HEADLAMPS TO HAVE THE SAME RESULT. ALSO REPLACED THE FUSE FOR THE LT HEADLAMP WITH SAME RESULT. THE LEFT HEADLAMP WILL WORK IN HIGH BEAM MODE BUT NOT IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I TRIED MANUALLY SWITCHING ON, SAME RESULT. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 CHEVY COLORADO WITH 28 THOUSAND MILES ON IT. IN THE LAST FOUR WEEKS THREE OF THE AMERISG60 GENERAL TIRES HAD THE TREAD SEPARATE. THE FOURTH WILL MOST LIKELY GO THIS WEEK. *TR
FREQUENTLY, DUE TO SOME FAILED OR INTERMITTENT SENSOR IN THE PASS LOCK SYSTEM, TRUCK WILL SIMPLY NOT START OR FUNCTION. TRUCK WILL NOT ENGAGE THE STARTER AND IF BYPASSED WILL NOT ENGAGE FURL OR SPARK SYSTEMS. SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THEFT BUT UPON INTERMITTENT FAILURE, PREVENTS NORMAL USAGE. PASS LOCK LIGHT WILL APPEAR ON DASH. CAR WILL NOT START, TEN MINUTE PERIODS WILL PASS WHEN SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO RESET, BUT OFTEN IT WILL NOT WHICH MEANS ANOTHER 10 MINUTE WAIT FOR NEXT RESET. AT TIMES IT TAKES UP TO FOUR RESETS TO CONVINCE THE SECURITY SYSTEM TO ACCEPT THE INPUT. I OFTEN NOW CARRY TWO SETS OF KEYS TO TRY TO INCREASE THE SIGNAL STRENGTH-NO IDEA IF THAT HELPS. I WOULD HATE TO BE IN AN UNSAFE AREA OR OUT IN -20 DEGREE WEATHER WITH THIS PIECE OF CRAP GM ENGINEERING. DEALER USES THE "CAN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM BUT WE WILL BE HAPPY TO JUST RANDOMLY BEGIN REPLACING PARTS AT YOUR EXPENSE" APPROACH. A MANDATORY RECALL TO FORCE THE CORPORATION TO FIX THIS RAMPANT (GOOGLE PASSLOCK AND SEE THE COTTAGE INDUSTRY TRYING TO FIX THIS PIECE OF CRAP ENGINEERING) PROBLEM IN GM VEHICLES. *TR
THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, AN IT IS STILL HAPPENING TO THIS DAY. WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN THE AIR IS COOL. AT IDLE THE RUM'S FLUCTUATE ABOUT 100 RPM ON DAYS IT HAPPENS MOST. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE THROTTLE BODY'S SINCE YOU CAN'T JUST CHANGE THE TPS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE, IT WOULD HESISTATE TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE ENGINE WIRES FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE WIRING IN THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFTED FROM TWO WHEEL DRIVE INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, DISRUPTING MANNER IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WOULD STEER. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD ALSO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES ADDRESSING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED AND THE TWO WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER FOR MORE INFORMATION. THE CONTACT ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
FOR MORE THAN 10,000 MILES (STARTING AROUND 33-34,000 MILES) AND OVER A YEAR MY TRUCK HAS EXPERIENCED AN INTERMITTENT ROUGH IDLE. WITHOUT WARNING THE IDLE WILL BECOME ROUGH AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE TRUCK HAS ALMOST STOPPED RUNNING. THESE EVENTS DO NOT TRIGGER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN I TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN WHAT IS TAKING PLACE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN AT LEAST 6 TIMES AND I AM LOSING MY PATIENCE. THE STANDARD EXPLANATION IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN THE PROBLEM IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DIAGNOSE. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ANY HELP. I'M VERY CONCERNED THAT I WILL FIND MYSELF PULLING INTO AN INTERSECTION OR CROSSING A STREET AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT RUN! I WAS ASKED TO CHANGE GAS STATIONS AND I DID TO NO EFFECT. I HAVE BEEN INCONVENIENCED BY THIS RECURRING PROBLEM AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE TRUCK. AFTER GOING TO A COLORADO TRUCK OWNERS FORUM ON THE INTERNET I NOW KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE. MANY OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND ARE NOT ABLE TO GET IT RESOLVED THROUGH THE DEALER OR CHEVROLET. MY TRUCK HAS APPROXIMATELY 44,500 MILE ON IT AND IS PAID FOR. I LIKE THE TRUCK BUT IT IS NOT SAFE AND IT IS NOT DEPENDABLE. *TR
THE PICK UP, TRAVELING IN ON A TWO LANE ROAD WENT OFF THE ROADWAY ON GENTLE CURVE IN THE ROAD, STRUCK THE END OF A GUARDRAIL WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND STRUCK A LARGE TREE, THERE WAS NO DEBRIS OR SKID MARKS ON THE PAVEMENT, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE FOLLOWING DAY BY A PASSER BY. THE DRIVER, MY SON 33, WAS DECEASED. HE DIED OF HEAD TRAUMA. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE ON-STAR SYSTEM DID NOT CALL, THE KEYS WERE IN THE IGNITION. MY SON WAS IN MY PICK UP, I ASKED THE STATE PATROL ABOUT THE AIRBAGS NOT EMPLOYING, IT WAS SHRUGGED OFF, SAYING WELL SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. I ASKED THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO LOOK INTO IT AND HAD THEM HOLD THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, TO NO AVAIL, I CALLED CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD IT WASN'T ON A RECALL LIST AND THEY COULDN'T TAKE A REPORT. I CALLED AN ATTORNEY AND THE BAR ASSOCIATION AND WAS TOLD SINCE HE WAS NOT MARRIED THERE WAS NO SENSE LOOKING INTO IT. I CALLED ON-STAR AND THEY GAVE ME THEIR CONDOLENCES. EVERYWHERE I HAVE TRIED TO TURN OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS WAS A DEAD END. BUT I JUST FEEL IT ISN'T RIGHT AND IF THE AIRBAG WOULD HAVE WORKED I WOULD STILL HAVE MY SON TODAY. MY SON WAS DRIVING MY PICKUP ON A TWO LANE COUNTY ROAD IN THE EVENING, AFTER DARK, THE TRUCK CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND WENT OFF THE ROADWAY ON A GENTLE CURVE IN THE ROADWAY. THE TRUCK STRUCK THE END OF A GUARDRAIL, WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND STRUCK A LARGE TREE. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS OR SKID MARKS ON THE PAVEMENT. THE ACCIDENT WAS SIGHTED THE FOLLOWING DAY BY A PASSERBY. THE DRIVER AND ONLY OCCUPANT, MY SON, WAS DECEASED INSIDE OF THE TRUCK. HE DIED OF BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE HEAD.THE AIR BAGS DID NOT EMPLOY AND THE ON-STAR COMMUNICATION SYSTEM DID NOT MAKE AN EMERGENCY CALL. THE KEYS WERE IN THE IGNITION. I ASKED THE STATE PATROL RIGHT AWAY ABOUT THE AIRBAGS NOT EMPLOYING, IT WAS SHRUGGED OFF, SAYING WELL SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. I ASKED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO LOOK INTO IT AND HAD THEM HOLD THE TRUCK FOR INVESTIGATION BUT AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS THEY CALLED, SAID THEY DIDN'T NEED IT AND WANTED TO GET RID OF IT, SO THEY DID.TO NO AVAIL, I CALLED CHEVROLET AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND WAS IT WASN'T ON A RECALL LIST AND COULDN'T TAKE A REPORT. I TOLD THEM MAYBE IT SHOULD BE ON A LIST BUT THEY DIDN'T AGREE. I CALLED THE STATE INSURANCE COMMISSIONERS OFFICE AND STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE AND GOT NO WHERE WITH THEM EITHER. I CALLED AN ATTORNEY AND THE BAR ASSOCIATION AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE AND A SUIT WOULD GET ME KNOW WHERE SINCE HE WAS NOT MARRIED. I CALLED ON STAR AND THEY GAVE ME THEIR CONDOLENCES. EVERYWHERE I TURNED WAS A DEAD END. BUT I JUST FEEL IT ISN'T RIGHT AND IF THE AIRBAG WOULD HAVE WORKED I WOULD STILL HAVE MY SON TODAY.I GOT YOUR INFORMATION A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO FROM A NEWS REPORTER.
CHEVY COLORADO 2008 BOTH SUN VISORS ARE FALLING FREE FROM THERE PIVOT POINT WHERE ATTACHED TO CAR. AND DROPPING RIGHT DOWN IN FRONT OF DRIVER VISION OR PASSENGER VISION NEARLY CAUSING WRECK. *TR
VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DEALER CANNOT FIND OR FIX PROBLEM. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. REPLACED HUBS, TIRES PADS ROTORS AND DRUMS STILL HAVE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A SELF-ADJUSTING SPRING THAT WAS ACCUMULATING DIRT AND DEBRIS. AS A RESULT, THERE WAS A HOLE WORN IN THE BRAKE DRUM AND CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. THE BRAKE DRUMS WERE REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE BY THE DEALER. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE TO BE A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 11/19/2010 UPDATED 11/24/10. *JB
THE BRAKES DRAG AND SQUEAL ALL OF THE TIME. THEY GRAB SOME OF THE TIME, AND HAVE TEMPORARILY LOCKED UP ON 6 OCCASIONS. BEING ABS; THEY DON'T ACTUALLY LOCK UP BUT DO GRAB HARD ENOUGH AND LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE THE TIRES "CHIRP". THE PROBLEMS ARE NOT NOTICEABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED BUT THE LOWER THAN EXPECTED MPG AND HIGHER THAN EXPECTED VARIATION IN MPG MAKES ME THINK THEY OCCUR AT ALL SPEEDS. HAVING NO DOUBT THAT THE BRAKES ARE DEFECTIVE WORRIES ME. I'M ANXIOUS ABOUT WHEN THEY WILL FAIL AND AT WHAT SPEED. ON FOUR OF THE SIX "LOCK UP" OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAD SHIFTED ITSELF INTO HIGH RANGE 4WD. THAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED BUT WENT UNNOTICED THE OTHER TWO TIMES. EVERY TIME IT SHIFTED ITSELF INTO 4WD (AND TRIED TO LOCK THE BRAKES) WAS AFTER BACKING UP. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SELF BRAKING; A TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES THE VEHICLE BRAKE HARDER. A TURN OF MORE THAN 1/2 ROTATION RESULTS IN A "GRAB" AND A "CHIRP". IF STARTING FROM A STOP AND TURNING AT THE SAME TIME, THE REAR WHEELS MIGHT SPIN. I'VE BEEN DRIVING 4X4S FOR MANY YEARS. I KNOW THAT FRONT WHEELS "LURCH" DURING A TIGHT TURN. THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS VEHICLE IS DOING. IT WILL EXHIBIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS IN 2WD. I THINK IT'S AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THIS COLORADO HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP FOR 8 ELECTRICAL FIXES ALREADY. THE NUMBER AND VARIETY OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE COLORADO MODEL ARE STAGGERING. THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND MADE RELIABLE IN THE NAME OF SAFETY. UNFORTUNATELY, IT SEEMS LIKE A CERTAIN NUMBER OF INJURIES AND DEATHS MUST BE REACHED TO WARRANT A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE SHIFTING INTO DRIVE FROM A FULL STOP, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND CRASHED INTO A GARAGE, DAMAGING THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HIS ARM. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP ANY FURTHER ABNORMAL ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT STATED HE DID NOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT ANY TIME DURING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
MY VEHICLE ALMOST COMPLETELY LOST ALL OF IT'S BRAKES. UPON SHORT INSPECTION UNDER THE HOOD, I FOUND THE GROMMET THAT SEALS THE BRAKE SYSTEM CHECK VALVE TO THE POWER BOOSTER ALMOST COMPLETELY RIPPED INTO TWO PIECES. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, NO MAINTENANCE OR ANY OTHER UNDER HOOD MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN PERFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE OTHER THAN REGULAR OIL CHANGES. THIS PART IS NOWHERE NEAR THE AREA REQUIRED ACCESS FOR AN OIL CHANGE SO THERE IS NO WAY THIS WAS CAUSED BY IMPROPER HANDLING OF THE PART.
DRIVING A LEASED 2008 CHEVY COLORADO WITH 15,000 MILES, ALWAYS TRAVEL A VERY SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE VEHICLE N FRONT, CARS AHEAD WERE STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, SO EASED UP BEHIND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT AT A SLOW RATE. WHEN MY VEHICLE HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOPPED I FELT MY ENGINE RACING A BIT, SO I PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKE HARDER, AND AS I APPLIED MORE AND MORE FORCE TO THE BRAKE THIS CONTINUED ON AND ON. AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS OF THE CONTEST, I PUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL WHICH STOPPED THE EPISODE. THIS WAS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS TYPE OF THING, ALTHOUGH BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAD BOTH EXPERIENCED A HANDFUL OF ISOLATED INCIDENTS WHERE THE ENGINE RACED A BIT WHILE SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKE. MY WIFE TAKES THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON A REGULAR BASIS AND HAS FILED AT LEAST 3 COMPLAINTS. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE NEVER BEHAVES THIS WAY WHEN THE DEALER CHECKS IT, THEY CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND SENDS HER ON HER WAY. NO WONDER, THE ODDS OF IT BEHAVING THIS WAY DURING THE TIME THEY HAPPEN TO BE CHECKING IT ARE LESS THAN ONE BEING STRUCK BY LIGHTENING. SO WE MUST GO ON TRAPPED IN A LEASE HOPING THAT ONE DAY IT DOES NOT ACT UP IN A WAY THAT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT OR EVEN KILLS SOMEBODY. AND ITS NOT THAT WE WANT TO GET OUT OF THE LEASE, BECAUSE OTHER THAN THIS WE LOVE THE VEHICLE. WE JUST WANT IT FIXED, BUT IT HAS BECOME SO OVERTLY OBVIOUS THAT THEY CAN'T FIX IT. WONDERFUL SYSTEM HERE IN AMERICA. EVERYONE IS FORCED TO TRUST AMERICA'S TRUE GOD, MONEY. *TR
THE REAR BRAKE ADJUSTERS ARE FAULTY ON THE 2008 CHEVY COLORADOS. GM HAS ISSUED A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE #07-05-24-001B. THE SYMPTOMS ARE SQUEALING REAR BRAKES, HIGH REAR BRAKE WEAR, RUSTING ON DRUMS AND MORE. THE TSB IS ONLY GOOD UNTIL 36,000 MILES. MANY DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT PERFORM THE TSB REPAIR WHICH IS FREE. THEY WILL INSTEAD CHARGE THE CUSTOMER FOR A REAR BRAKE CLEAN AND ADJUST WHICH ONLY TEMPORARILY ELIMINATES THE SQUEAL UNTIL THE ADJUSTS FAIL TO ADJUST THE SHOES PROPERLY AGAIN. THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL UNDER BRAKING, ESPECIALLY ON WET ROADS. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH APPROXIMATELY 40 INSTANCES SEEN IN MY FLEET OF 92 COLORADOS-SO FAR . ISSUE OCCURS AT ANY MILEAGE. DOCUMENTED RANGES ARE FROM 10,000 TO END OF WARRANTY. VEHICLES HAVE SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES AS WELL. *TR
ODOMETER BUTTON RATTLES AND IS LOOSE,BACK PASSENGER SPEAKER HAD A SHORT IN IT AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. *TR
I HAVE A QUESTION ON REGARDING MY 2008 CHEVY COLORADO. I RECENTLY HAD MY TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO THE REAR AXLE PROBLEMS I FEEL NEED ATTENTION. DURING MY OBSERVATION. THE TIRE ON THE DRIVER SIDE SPACE BETWEEN THE WHEEL AND THE BODY OF THE TRUCK IS DIFFERENT FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. I CANNOT STICK MY HAND IN THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE WHEEL AND THE PASSENGER I CAN STICK MY HAND AND ARM IN. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL AND THAT THERE IS NO WAY THAT IS SO BECAUSE THE AXLE IS ONE WHOLE PIECE. I FEEL THAT WHEN I DRIVE THE AXLE SOMEWHAT SLIDES FROM SIDE TO SIDE. MY COLORADO WAS BOUGHT NEW. CURRENTLY IT HAS 20,300 MILES ON. *TR
OCCASIONALLY WHEN THE TRUCK COMES TO A STOP OR COASTING, THE RPM GAGE STARTS TO FLUCTUATE, AND THE TRUCK STARTS TO SHAKE. MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL RESULT IN THE TRUCK COMPLETELY TURNING OFF. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY; OCCURRING ATLEAST 1-3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT STARTED WAS IN THE SUMMER OF 2009. IT IS REALLY FRUSTRATING WHEN THIS HAPPENS AT AN INTERSECTION, A LIGHT OR MAYBE AS I AM TURNING, BUT IT IS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE I'M GOING DOWN HILL OR IF I AM ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN INTO CAR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS. MY TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ATLEAST 6 TIMES AND THEY RETURN MY VEHICLE USUALLY CLUELESS ABOUT WHAT TO DO. THEY USUALLY RECOMMEND FOR ME TO CHANGE MY GAS TO SHELL, WHICH I HAVE BEEN DOING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THEY HAVE RE-DONE MAINTENANCE JOBS ON IT, HOPING THAT THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY, BUT IT DOESN'T. THE ENGINE LIGHT NEVER GOES ON, WHICH IS A HUGE PROBLEM. RECENTLY THEY PLACED A DATA RECORDER TO RECORD WHEN IT HAPPENS, I RECORDED 5 INCIDENTS, AND THEY CAME BACK NORMAL!!! THE DATA RECORDER DOESN'T PICK IT UP! THE MECHANICS ARE BAFFLED AND RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, NOR DO I ANYMORE. DRIVING THIS TRUCK WITH THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY AT RISK, BUT IT IS ALSO ENDANGERING THE PEOPLE DRIVING ALONG ME. *TR
THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT ON THE VEHICLE CONTINUALLY HAS CONDENSATION IN IT. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY DEALER TWICE IN 18 OR SO MONTHS. NOW IT HAS CONDENSATION IN IT AGAIN. IT IS A CHEVROLET COLORADO 2008. THE TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN WRECKED OR DAMAGED. I'M TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN IN FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT. THIS PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED WITH LESS THAN 8,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. I PURCHASED A COLORADO ONE WEEK LATER MY BRAKES WENT OUT. AND I MANAGED NOT TO GET IN A CRASH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED IT . THEY TOLD ME THE VEHICLE SITS ON THE LOTS 4 MONTHS AND MONTHS AND STUFF MIGHT WIGGLE LOOSE. OK I FIGURED . THREE WEEKS LATER WHICH WOULD BE 3/5/09 I LEFT WORK AND IT WAS A NICE DAY I TURNED MY AC ON AND NOTICED MY BLOWER ONLY WORKED ON 2 AND 3 MY 1 AND 4 WOULD NOT WORK SO I DROVE TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE ABOUT 10 MILES AWAY AND TALKED TO THE GUY AND HE TOLD ME ITS PROBABLY BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR SWITCH. WHICH THE PART WAS ONLY 20 BUCKS BUT HE CONVINCED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER . BECAUSE IT UNDER WARRANTY AND THINGS LIKE THIS CAN SHORT OUT AND CAUSE FIRES. SO I LEFT THE STORE AND ABOUT 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD STUFF STARTED SHORTING OUT ON MY TRUCK . THAN MY PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND THAN WITHIN 1/2 MILE STUFF WAS CRAZY THERE WAS SMOKE EVERY WHERE SO I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES WHICH THEY DIDN'T WORK SO I TRIED PULLING OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD MY STEERING WAS LOCKED UP.AND THAN SOMETHING EXPLODED UNDER MY DASH THAN I STARTED SEEING SMOKE BILLOWING OUT OF MY HOOD WHICH QUICKLY TURNED INTO FLAMES . KEEP IN MIND THE WHOLE TIME THIS IS GOING ON MY TRUCK IS GOING 60 MPH AND I HAVE NO BRAKES. SO THAN I STARTED SEEING FLAMES UNDER MY DASH THAN MY FLOOR THAN EVERYTHING ON MY FLOOR STARTED CATCHING ON FIRE AND I STARTED THROWING THING OUT THE WINDOW AND THE WHOLE TIME THIS IS GOING ON I AM TRAPPED IN MY TRUCK WHILE ITS ON FIRE MY DOOR LOCKS ARE SPACING OUT AND IM TRAPPED. ABOUT 1 MILE AFTER MY TRUCK WAS PRETTY MUCH FULLY ENGULFED THAN SOME HOW I MANAGED TO GET Y DOOR OPEN AND JUMP OUT BEFORE I LOOKED DOWN MY SPEDO SAID 35 MPH AND WHEN I JUMPED OUT I MANAGED TO LAND ON MY FEET AND MY TRUCK SLID IN THE MUD 4 ABOUT 50-75 FT WITHIN MINUTES 4 POLICE AND 18 FIREFIGHTERS WHERE THERE AND 2 OR 3 FIREFIGHTERS GOT HURT FROM SHRAPNO . WHAT SCARED ME WAS I WAS TRAPPED IN MY TRUCK WHILE IT WAS ON FIRE. I ONLY SUFFERED VERY MINOR INJURIES. *TR

SINCE THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WITH LESS THAN 150 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE STEERING MALFUNCTIONED...IT SORT OF PULLED TO THE LEFT WHEN IT WAS GIVEN A JERK IT CAUGHT LIKE IT SHOULD AND THEN IT VEERED TO THE LEFT AGAIN. THEN THE TIRES CAUGHT AND THE TRUCK WENT TO THE RIGHT. AT THIS TIME THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE'S PATH AND IT VEERED INTO A DITCH, HIT A TREE, AND FLIPPED OVER. THIS OCCURRED AFTER THE DRIVER TURNED OFF OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND TRAVELED ABOUT 1/10 OF A MILE ON THE ROAD HE TURNED ONTO. *TR

REAR BRAKE ISSUES NO PROBLEMS FOUND AT DEALER 2 TIMES I HAD TAKEN IT TO THEM. REAR BRAKE NOISE SCREECHING SQUEALING, LOCK UP WHEN MOISTURE IS PRESENT, AND IN AN EMERGENCY STOP THE PEDAL GETS REAL STIFF AND IS HARD TO STOP. I PUT IN A COMPLAINT TO CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AFTER TWO CLOSE CALLS WITH EMERGENCY STOPPING. AFTER PURCHASING MY TRUCK THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL INDICATE THE UNIT BEGAN STAYING ON WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ARE EMITTING A FINE FIBER LIKE MATERIAL, WHICH IS GETTING ON THE FRONT WHEELS, THE FENDER, AND THE ROCKER PANEL. THE FIBER IS BLOWING IN THE AIR AND ENTERING INTO THE VENTILATION SYSTEM, WHICH THEN CAUSES THE BLACK FIBER TO ENTER THE PASSENGER CABIN. THE FIBER MATERIAL IS PRESENT THE MOST DURING CITY DRIVING. THE CONTACT MUST CLEAN THE WHEELS ONCE A WEEK. HE STATED THAT THERE WAS A TSB THAT MENTIONED THE FIBER WAS DAMAGING TO CHROME AND DYE CAST WHEELS.
