There are 6 owner-reported body & structure complaints for the 2016 Chevrolet Coloradoin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
The body is defective in keeping water out of the cab. Water intrusion into cab causing moisture build-up and damaging interior and electrical components. My safety is at risk due to the electrical components in the cab that run the vehicle could cause electrocution or cause the vehicle to fail while in use. No they have not reproduced the problem. Yes, GM Collision center and service center (three separate times) have seen the vehicle and the video of the leak. I informed them of the TSB5396 of the known manufacturer defect issue. No warning, problem was first noticed in May 2023. I found my interior completely soaked one morning. I have waterproof marathon seat covers and they are soaked thru to the seats. Checked all windows to make sure they were up and the door seals were shut, everything was closed. Assumed that it was a fluke, followed up by checking the next morning and found the headliner dripping along with a soaked interior again. With the electrical seats and all the electronics in the dash I am concerned about that much water and moisture being in the cab might electrocute me or cause malfunction while driving. Besides the fact that moisture causes rust, mold and mildew that are dangerous to your health to breathe in.
PAINT ON LEADING HOOD EDGE BUBBLING ON TOP OF AND BENEATH THE HOOD. GM CERTIFIED AUTO TECHNICIANS CONFIRMED THIS IS A RESULT OF MOISTURE DURING THE PAINTING PROCESS AND NOT DUE TO DAMAGE INFLICTED WHILE DRIVING.
THE DOORS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE COME TO A SHARP POINT ON THE BOTTOM. THE WIND CASE THE DOOR TO COME BACK ON MY LEG AND BADLY BRUISING MY LEG. I CONTACTED GM TO PAY MY DOCTOR BILL BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REPLY.
THE REAR FENDERS ON TRUCK ARE BLISTERING. THERE ARE BUMPS ALL ALONG THE OUTSIDE OF THE REAR FENDER WELLS. THE PROBLEM IS ROAD DEBRIS AND SMALL STONES GETTING UP INSIDE THE INNER FENDER WELLS AND VIBRATING DOWN PUSHING DENTS THROUGH TO THE OUTSIDE OF VECHICLE. THIS IS GOING TO RESULT IN ACCELORATED RUST THROUGH OF THE REAR FENDERS AS THE FINISH IS DAMAGED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PANELS. I HAVE WORKED WITH THE DEALER, WHO ATTEMPTED ONE REPAIR (WHICH FAILED) BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THEM AND GM CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE TRUCK HAD 16200 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS STARTED. I FOUND ONLINE THAT OTHER GM TRUCKS HAVE THIS ISSUE, CHEVROLET ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON SILVERADOS FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ON THE COLORADO OWNERS SITES BUT GM IS REFUSING TO MAKE REPAIRS. THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO CAUSE RUST THROUGH AND JAGGED BODIES ON ALL OF THESE VECHICLES IN VERY SHORT ORDER IN NORTHERN AREAS.
AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH THE SHEET METAL ON THE HOOD BEGINS TO RIPPLE, FLUTTER, AND DISTORT. THIS PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN BY CHEVROLET. THE DEALER HAS APPLIED EXPANDING FOAM INSIDE THE HOOD UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE METAL CONTINUES TO DISTORT AND RIPPLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I AM AFRAID THE HOOD SHEET METAL WILL FAIL AND THE HOOD WILL COME OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. CHEVROLET REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER ABOUT IT.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.THE FIRST TIME IT WAS LEAKING WATER FROM LEFT FRONT,LEFT REAR,AND RIGHT FRONT FLOOR MATS.THIS SECOND TIME IT WAS ONLY LEAKING WATER ON THE LEFT FRONT DRIVERS FLOOR MATS.THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN DRIVEN WHEN I NOTICED THE LEAK.
