The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking activated unintendedly. The contact stated that the vehicle made a hard stop, with the Forward Collision Warning light displayed simultaneously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure was not duplicated. The dealer decided to reflash the electrical system however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer where the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V133000 (Electrical System, Forward Collision Avoidance). The recall repair was performed; however, the failure recurred. The second dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,800.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the blind spot mirrors intermittently failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the driver’s side door sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer performed several additional repairs to the vehicle however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
Turn signal indicator blinks in opposite direction. When turning right and completing the turn the indicator blinks left causing confusion to other drivers who assume I’m turning left. On several occasions cars have pulled out in front of me nearly colliding. After many attempts to fix the problem the GM dealer replaced turn signal switches but the problem still persists.
I had read on a forum for the 2023 Colorado that this had happened to people but I didn’t think it would happen to me. I was driving along a road with no other vehicles and no obstacles in front of me going 40 miles an hour, and the front collision avoidance system kicked in and the truck brakes locked in. The truck went from 40 miles an hour to a complete stop almost instantly,. I was very fortunate that The roads were not icy and there was nobody behind me because that could’ve been very dangerous. Something needs to be done. There are multiple issues with this new model that General Motors doesn’t seem to be taking action on.
Twice the truck has randomly activated the front collision emergency braking system. One time was going around a turn and it activated, put the steering wheel straight and I almost tboned another car. Another time I was going straight nothing in front of me and it activated almost causing me to be rear ended.
Vehicle completely drains battery overnight. It has happened 3 times since purchase in July 2023. After jumping the battery multiple errors occur including check engine lights. This truck has less than 3500 miles. It is happening to hundreds of brand new colorados.
My 2023 Colorado's speedometer and infotainment digital display, which includes my ability to turn on and off my headlights, are both broken and not working. This makes it impossible to know my speed, how much gas I have, or turn on my lights at night. This was my core concern when getting the new 23 Chevy - too much reliance on displays - and it has come true. I have seen on Reddit and other boards that TONs of other users are facing similar issues, and it seems to be because of a botched software update. Please investigate.
within 24 hours or purchasing this brand new truck (5 miles on it) sensor issues began and slowly escalated from a service door latch system error to auto braking engagement for absolutely no reason at 35-40 mph and side mirror warning sensors turning and staying on causing all windows not to move. There have been other issues as well however those are the most alarming as they directly effect the safety of the driver and passengers and the inappropriate auto braking engagement could cause injury or death to the trucks occupants as well as drivers around them. This problem is discussed widely on Chevy Colorado forums as many owners are experiencing with the 2023! The truck has been in the dealership with attempts to repair 4 times, the third attempt took a month and within 2 hours of pickup it started again. 4th attempt, 20 mins after pickup auto collision system was going off as usual. Now I have errors on the dash to service the driver assist system and the side warning mirror lights no longer work. Someone is going to get killed. There are forum conversations where people are driving on the highway going 80 and the brakes engaged for no reason. GM is well aware of all of the issues with my vehicle as I have been in communication as well as the dealership. The dealership told me another person bought a similar truck and had / has the same problem. GM refuses to purchase this truck back even though they know this is unsafe and want me to continue to try to have it fixed. I have a ton of documents to support this but when I click to upload nothing happens to allow files to be attached. I'm more than happy to share them, they include repair orders, conversation with the dealer and GM, screen shots of errors etc. One document includes a text message from the dealer stating there is a bunch (I know it to be 2 pages) of history of lost communication code errors that would have occurred at the manufacturer yet they released it for sale anyway
Wipers works 95% of the time. However, they randomly will not work some times and the time varys from 10 minutes to 12+ hours before they start to work again. This issue has been present since I bought the truck in July 23 and I've taken it to the dealer a half a dozen times for this issue but in all cases except once the wipers started to work before the tech could diagnose the problem. The one time they were able to work on it while it was not working they determined the lighting control module had reported failures. They replaced the module but I again experienced another incident where the wipers stopped working for 12 hours - this occured during the weekend when the dealer was not open. Dealer keeps stating they cannot replace parts unless they can prove something is broken so every time I drop it off even with video proof they say they cannot replicate the issue and send me on my way. A TAC case has been opened with GM and am awaiting feedback. The first time this happened I was driving 70+MPH on a highway when a sudden storm hit. I went to turn wipers on and they did not come on. I had to roll down the window and stick my head out to see to exit the highway.
Speedometer and infotainment digital display. Speedometer changes from MPH to KPH, Infotainment display/Speedometer shuts down while driving. Not able to tell correct speed or see speed and critical information. Dealer said that there was no problem even after updating computer system. No other inspection has been done. No previous indications of problems, this first started 5-6 months after receiving the vehicle. This is a company vehicle that is tracked, daily I get alerts that the driver is doing speeds that are impossible due to traffic and I have had the problem replicated for me.
After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the vehicle will sometimes signal a left turn for 3 blinks. I believe this is because the turn signal stalk 'bounces' down to the left turn signal area when returning back to normal position from a right turn. This is a safety issue because the vehicle is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended. This could cause confusion to other drivers on the road.
Battery dies repeatedly after multiple service visits and replacements.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle seemed to operate in 4WD mode; however, the instrument cluster stated that the vehicle was operating in 2WD mode. Additionally, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the check engine warning light was cleared. The contact also stated that while at a complete stop, the Auto START/STOP feature turned off the engine; however, upon depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond, and the engine made abnormal grinding sounds. The vehicle then accelerated to 40 MPH and then slammed on the brakes unintendedly, nearly causing a crash. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact continually depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle lurched forward and jerked while responding. The contact was able to pull into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to the second dealer, Malloy Chevrolet (2700 Valley Ave, Winchester, VA 22601) where the failure recurred. The vehicle was being diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 600. The VIN was unavailable.
While the vehicle is in motion, And listening to XM radio, every commercial that comes on generates a banner flag across the speedometer screen. This is very distracting. It tends to draw the drivers’ eye from the road to the screen. Only problems with the vehicles operation should warrant such an action. This is an unnessasary action being that the radio screen displays the same information 10” away, out of the direct eye line of the driver, not to mention that I can hear the said commercial, I don’t need a visual que of the fact flashed on the speedometer. I was told there was a setting to turn off the “RDS”, which I was told was on page 114 of the owner’s manual ( not included in the vehicle), available for download to my phone. Problem: I don’t carry a cell phone. I had to pay $65 plus shipping to obtain one, after paying over $40K for the vehicle. The instructions sent me many screens deep on the center screen, only to find the setting only on the FM band and not on the XM band, which I listen to primarily. FM band is limited where I live and the issue wasn’t a nusense until I had to go down to Ann Arbor and getting caught in exit traffic on US23 in a construction zone going back home. It became a Major Distraction. I though it was illegal to have any motion that is in the sight of the driver while the vehicle is in motion. I am exhausted of calling GM and being connected to someone halfway around the world, that I can’t understand (with a shakey connection) to only be transferred to someone back here in Michigan who doesn’t really help. I want this turned off before I have to return to the U of M Cancer center on Jan. 7, 2024, and I feel I have done all I can with GM.
Vehicle was purchased brand new with 3 miles on it. The vehicle informant system was malfunctioning not allowing phone calls to be made or connection with OnStar. No audio was being produced through the speakers and the headlights were not responding when pressing the headlight buttons on the informant system. Battery was disconnected for 10 minutes and informant system was back online with no issues after that. Vehicle now has 554 miles on it with no problems. The dealership stated this has occurred with a few other 2023 Colorado's.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle experienced phantom braking with an audible alert and an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 1,100.
Vehicle fuel fill back flows everything and vehicle's not full splashing gasoline on the vehicle and the ground which could cause an explosion also. The tank will not be full with fuel range on the dash ranging from 440 to 519. 519 is the full range. The vehicle has been back to dealership service department several times (4) with no resolution. The information screen on the dash has gone blank several times requiring it to go back to the dealership. There had been several message on the screen unrelated to the items listed. The accident avoidance system has locked the front brakes up at both 35 mph and 65 mph several times without a vehicle directly in front and without warning. The unexpected braking causes an abrupt stop and unexpected by the driver behind my vehicle potentially causing a rear end collision
I've had two problems both dealing with the truck's infotainment system. The first problem was that the software "glitched" and the screen became unusable (see attached pictures). The headlight controls are exclusively accessed through this screen and I had to remove the negative battery cable for 10+ minutes to recover this screen and access my headlight controls. The second problem was an over the air updated pushed to my truck over the weekend of 7/21/2023 to 7/24/2023. The update did not install and caused my truck's battery to drain while not in use. I was forced to jump start the vehicle the morning of 7/24/2023. The truck had 7500 miles at the time of battery failure.
The first day of driving a brand new, 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, my turn signal shifter started to fail. When I move my turn signal left down (left turn position) then back to the neutral position, the left turn signal stays active. The turn signal shifters also binds and gets stuck in the neutral position and will not allow me to move the turn signal shifter upwards (right turn position). To fix this, I have to move the turn signal shifter back to the left turn position to get the shifter unstuck then it will allow me to move the turn signal shifter back upwards to the right turn position. I have been on the highway and unable to use my right turn signal to change lanes which is extremely dangerous. I am worried that it will cause an accident or that I will get a ticket for not using my turn signal. I have a video of the issue occuring, but the video is 25 MB. The issue occurs every time I drive but not 100% of the time when I try to use the right turn signal. When the issue does occur, it's always due to shifting the turn signal shifter into the left turn position and becomes mechanically stuck in the neutral position.
The pre collision safety feature is very glitchy. The warning comes on all the time, and no I’m not falling to close. But what scared me was I was driving home from work sunny conditions mild traffic. Typical city road 35mph. First the warning went off then right after it slammed on the brakes. The closest car in front of me was about 6 car length when it hit the breakers. I know the Pearson behind me was not happy with me. Luckily there was no accident. I seen on Facebook that this is not an insulated problem. I hope more people make a report because this is definitely a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera displayed a blank screen. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front camera activated; however, there was no image displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, and the contact was informed that the camera system had been reprogrammed. The contact stated that the repair only lasted for several months before the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure was a known failure with the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
Driver backed the truck out of a parking spot and the brakes did not engage. The service engine soon light then came on and said it was an anti-lock brake failure. Their have been two guesses so far as to what caused this. A faulty master cylinder or an issue with the engine control module relaying info to the brake control module and/or transmission control module.
