NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Started the truck and got a Brake System Failure, Service ESC, Service Trailer Brake System, Traction Control, Forward Colission, ABS, Check Engine Light and Parking Brake Warning light flasing. Also the Auto Start Feature works less than 10% of the time.
We purchased a used 2024 Chevy Colorado WT with a little over 4,500 miles on April 9th. A couple of days later before starting the vehicle the brake pedal would sink all the way down to the floor. This happened twice. So I made a service appointment with the Chevy dealer on April 14th. I told the service advisor that the brake pedal sank to the floor twice before starting the vehicle. He said they would take a look at it. When I went to pick up my vehicle the next day, the service advisor said the technician could not duplicate the problem. That same day, the brake pedal sank to the floor before starting the vehicle. So I made another service appointment the following week on April 23rd. I have videos to prove that the brake pedal would sink all the way to the floor before starting the vehicle. The service advisor told me that that technician duplicated the problem and they will order parts for it. The vehicle has been at the dealer since then. The service brake issue is a safety hazard that needs to be addressed.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while traveling by RV and towing the vehicle, the contact followed the Manufacturer's recommendation to disconnect the battery while towing. Upon arriving at the destination, the contact reconnected the battery and started the vehicle; however, the instrument panel was blank and failed to display pertinent vehicle information. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the radio module. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 2,500.
ABS check engine light came on after initially taking the vehicle in because of the brakes feeling weird and making noise. This similar issue has been experience by multiple users reported on a Chevy Colorado group page on facebook to include 2 cases of individuals, one with a Colorado and another with a GNC Canyon, both GM vehicles, that had their brakes fail while operating the vehicles. This was a concerning issue because, in my case, while I drove the vehicle, I was able to punch the brake pedal all the way to the floor while the vehicle was slowing down. The vehicle and part were inspected about 3 different times with the final time, and with video proof of an odd noise it was making, which then caused the dealership service department to actually check the brake pump which then they found to be faulty and needed replacing. This also took about a month and a half of wait time because the part was on backorder. I also spoke to Chevrolet directly where they did not seem to be aware nor cared at the fact I explained to them many owners experienced this same issue and did not acknowledge my concern for safety of the vehicle itself.
While driving in heavy and slow moving traffic at approximately 15 mph, the vehicle in front stopped. The forward collision and automatic emergency braking failed to activate. These safety features are not a replacement for active driving attention, but if they properly function and activate, they could have prevented the rear end collision that occurred.
I purchased this Chevrolet Colorado knowing there was a potential problem in which the vehicle's battery is drained overnight during an over the air update; I had hoped GM would have a fix by now (but it does not seem they do). From what I've read, along with my own experience, the vehicle is prompted to update software, but in the process of updating, the "computer" system freezes, though the software continues to try and update, thus draining the battery dead. When this happened to me I measured the battery voltage at 4.4 volts...which in many cases can be lethal to a 12-volt battery. Fortunately I was able to get a boost from a tow truck driver, who then drove my vehicle onto his truck. The dangerous part of this problem is timing. I camp and overland in remote areas. Should this happen when I am miles from service or outside of cell range, I could be vulnerable to all sorts of negative forces. Fortunately, the vehicle was seen at a local dealership, but aside from fixing an unrelated recall and updating the stereo, best I understood I am still vulnerable to this problem occurring again.
Brand new TRUCK… 2024 Chevy Colorado LT 4x4.. Classic Chevrolet Oklahoma CIty OK Extremely Rough Idol, on cold engine start up, You can hear the ROUGH noise it coming out of the Exhaust and feel it in the cab of the truck. After warm up,, at intersections on red lights ,,you can hear and feel the idol miss at times a little bit. The dealership has had my truck for 8 days now. NO positive results to date. They say GM is making them go through a step by step process. The service manager tells me there is a code in one of the cylinders.. but the injectors test perfect. Looking on GOOGLE i see many owners of the same truck with the SAME issue !!!
The components failing are the (ADAS) components. Specific concerns are with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, front facing detection camera, and blindside detection. The front facing camera will randomly deactivate prompting a message to check for obstructions as a possibly reason of failure. Upon checking, and also wiping the lense, there is not obstrution. Blindside detection operates at random and at times will stay on for a sustained period without any vehicles near or around my vehicle. This is especially bad at night because the light is extremely bright and directed into the drivers vision. Adaptive cruise control will falsely detect vehicles or objects that are not present and implement emergency braking before recognizing there is no vehicle/object and then speed up. Sometimes this will happen consecutively in repetition. This is especially concerning because it has happened at interstate speeds as well as highway speeds with traffic behind me during the day time. It would brake aggressively taking my speed from 65 mph down to 40 mph and the change to a wide open throttle to regain speed only to brake again. Sometimes it will just keep slowing until I turn off cruise control. All of this happens without notice or indication other than the blindside warning lamps during its failure. It has happened often enough that I can not use the cruise control confidently. I have had it into the dealership for inspection and they claim there were no codes and could not reproduce the symptoms during a brief test drive. They however inform me that the front facing camera mentioned earlier does all the sensing for these components but did not get a reaction from it. I do experience one or more of these problems daily. I have also experienced false pedestrian warnings from the system early on but that has not happened for 3 months currently. I welcome requested inspection to hopefully get this fixed for my safety and those around me.
I purchaced a new 2024 Chevy colorado, the truck had 193 miles on the odometer when the brakes failed. When I stepped on the brake to put my truck into gear the pedal became spongy and brakes were severely diminished. I had to force the pedal to the floor to stop the truck at idle. I shut the truck off and restarted, it continued. I called the dealer, they sent a truck with trailer to take it back to the shop. They verified the condition and diagnosed the problem. I was told the EBC and master cylinder failed. The warning on the dash came on at the same time as I realized the brakes were not working.
I have had this truck for about 3 weeks and the first day I brought it home the Parking brake was engaged upon starting the truck along with the collision light. It finally came off and drove the truck. Took it to the dealer they checked it and said it was fine per their assessment. Couple days later it happened again took back to dealer as the collision and parking brake light and brakes were stuck again, they again ran their computer diagnostic system no issues. Drove it for about 3 days and now it occurred again today, collision light and parking brake engaged. After about 15 minutes of trying to disengage the parking brake I shut the truck off, then one last time I started it back up and the brake disengaged. I then drove it back to the dealer today.
1.) While driving signalling for a right hand turn and then subsequently completing the right hand turn, the vehicle then signals left on its own accord. This is distracting for the driver and confusing to other motorists on the road. 2.) Blind spot monitoring system frequently turns on and or blinks rapidly (effects both driver and passenger side mirrors sporadically) when no other vehicles in the same vicinity. Distracting to driver who then is prompted to look around for vehicles that are not there. Quite often the trucks blind spot monitors light up when not a single other vehicle is on the road anywhere. This takes place on full size two lane roads and wide open multi lane highways where there are no objects near the vehicle whatsoever.
1) All the sensors on the truck relating to the auto emergency breaking, pass sensors, cruise control ETC are malfunctioning, truck was at 10,000 miles at the time and brand new. 2) This feature contributed to an accident on Jan 14 2025. I could not see because of the sun and rear ended the car in front of me. 3)The DTC report on the truck came back and stated 6 errors relating to the systems and sensors to include a data memory loss. 4)Took in for servicing at the dealership and they refused to touch the issue. GM is inspecting the truck Feb 13. 5) There were warning indicators however I though it had to do with ice blockage from a snow storm. That morning I cleaned all the cameras off and did not immediately notice it and assumed it went away. It seems the the warning does not immediately come on takes approximately 1-2 minutes. There is no differentiating a software-servicing issue with a camera blockage.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH and approaching a stopped traffic, the contact stated that the sun temporarily blinded his vision of the roadway. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond and crashed into a stopped motorcycle, causing the motorcycle and the motorcyclist to fall to the ground. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was designed with the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system, which failed to engage as designed. The motorcycle rider was able to escape the scene, while the contact's vehicle continued to move forward and to drive over the rear end of the motorcycle. The motorcycle was damaged and could not be ridden. The motorcyclist sustained physical pain and received first aid from the ambulance; however, the motorcyclist declined medical assistance and was picked up by his girlfriend. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The air bags did not deploy. The check engine warning light illuminated after the crash. The contact stated that the front end and the undercarriage of the vehicle were damaged. The contact was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer's Auto Body Shop, where an assessment of the vehicle damage was being performed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 4,700.
The turn signals to not function correctly and give inaccurate signals to other drivers. Most (perhaps all) times, when signaling a right turn, after the right turn signal deactivates, the switch "overcorrects" and signals a left lane change (three blinks to the left). This no doubt leads to confusion to other drivers and could cause a accident. Turn signal must work flawlessly! This problem has been broadly reported on the Chevy Colorado internet forum.
Cold weather random single quiet chime heard over radio. Random times no duplicating. Sometimes at stop light with brake pressed it will chime once. Other time as you take off from stop sign single quiet chime heard. Other times as you are driving it will do this. Only factor is that is when its cold outside. Vehicle drives fine and no lights on dash indicating an issue. Roads clear no snow or ice. Cleaned all 3 cameras and still same issue when cold outside. Not sure if this is affecting any safety features on vehicle or not or something chevy needs to address in an update to fix. I am not the only one with this issue as I have read a lot on facebook posts and internet forums for this
Advanced cruise control system has twice applied the brakes when the road was clear ahead. First time was not a problem other than surprised me. Second time I was almost rear-ended by car behind me. Fortunately, only resulted in a dirty look from other driver. Could have been much worse. I have since de-activated the Advanced cruise system. My dealership is in process of diagnosing the problem.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was stiff and difficult to turn in either direction. In addition, the passenger’s side mirror failed to illuminate while another vehicle was passing by as intended. The messages "Reduced Acceleration", "Service Steering", and "Service Drive Train" were displayed on the instrument panel. The ESC warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost automotive power. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure became progressively worse. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
Vehicle headlights provide very poor lighting in fog or in rain at night. It is impossible to see highway lane markings.
On the afternoon of [XXX], I had an interesting incident in a parking lot while slowly pulling into a parking spot. As I began braking, the brake pedal suddenly sank to the floor, forcing me to engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. After restarting the truck, the pedal firmness returned, but I noticed a peculiar sound, likely originating from the ABS pump or solenoids. No warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, and no error codes were detected with my scanner. Additionally, I’ve observed that the front driver’s side wheel has significantly more brake dust compared to the passenger side. I brought this issue to the attention of the service advisor at Boulevard GMC in Signal Hill, CA. Boulevard GMC informed me that brake parts are currently on a nationwide backorder, and there is no estimated time of arrival for when GM will supply dealerships with replacement parts. The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact heard a loud banging sound coming from the roof. The contact became aware that the headliner was fractured. The contract stated that the cause of the failure recurred while at the local car wash. The contact stated the headliner inadvertently popped back into place The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 3,080.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power, and failed to exceed 5-8 MPH. The traction control and the check engine warning lights were illuminated after the failure. The contact's wife was able to drive across lanes and pulled over to the right side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with fuel injector failure. The dealer ordered the parts. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,900.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to function as intended and displayed a black screen. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 4,500.
forward collision alert system not warning when a near collision is about to occur. this failure was confirmed by the dealership. the dealership also told me they have 5 other 2024 colorados also failing with this area of the alert system. the dealership has tried 2 new cameras and the fault continues. chevrolet care team knows of the failure, but have given no updates on how to correct this.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the cruise control feature was intermittently inoperable causing the vehicle to lose automotive power. The Blind Spot mirror sensor warning light intermittently failed to illuminate when another vehicle was passing by the vehicle. The turn signal lights intermittently activated the opposite turn signal light after the turn was completed. The pedestrian detection warning light was intermittently illuminated. The failures occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on several different occasions to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
The vehicle was purchased new from Courtesy Chevrolet in San Diego, CA. After 500 miles on the odometer, I decided to change the oil with fresh Castrol Syntec 5W-30 which has the Dexos 1 Gen3 approval along with a new ACDelco PF66 oil filter. Upon removing the oil drain plug and after all of the oil had been drained, I noticed the threads for the oil drain plug appear to be loose and perhaps broken free from the stamped aluminum oil pan. Luckily, I was fortunate to obtain a perfect seal while pulling on the drain plug and threading it into the pan. The attached images are from a new oil pan I purchased. The steel threaded insert inside the stamped aluminum oil pan has broken free and the only way to properly repair it is to have the factory oil pan replaced with another. The design is poor and there is no way to prevent the threaded insert from falling into the pan rendering the vehicle inoperable. I will be taking the vehicle into the dealership to express my concern.
After using turn signal for a right turn and the wheel straightens back out, the left turn signal comes on for 3-4 blinks. Has caused confusion and have had vehicles turn in front of me. Safety concern.
Got notification of brake system failure on the dashboard and lost all braking ability. After the truck was shut off they worked again, perfectly fine. This scenario repeated itself and I lost breaks again. The truck has 200 miles on it and after looking online seems to be a common issue
problem since day 1. Instrument cluster goes dark frequently. no speedometer or gauges are illuminated. may stay dark for long periods of time and other times it is shorter periods. sometimes smacking it will bring it back up. sometimes not. cluster changed 2 times by dealer. problem continues. code read problem with harness connector showed up once but they cleared it and it hasn't come back. panel went dark 12 times the other day in 30 miles. dealer is now ignoring it! 80 year old man driving at night with no instrumentation is a serious hazard and POTENTIAL lawsuit!!
My teenage son was involved in an accident because of distraction caused by his he dashboard. Upon taking right turns with the right blinker, the LEFT blinker would subsequently illuminate for at least 4 blinks. Additionally, the CHECK ENGINE light was also illuminated. The vehicle only had less than 90miles on it. As he took a right turn at a 4 way stop, he was distracted by the left blinker and attempted to turn off the blinker manually which caused him to steer into the curb which them caused him to lose control and his a brick mailbox. $8500 worth of vehicle damage and $1500 worth of mailbox replacement damage was caused. Chevrolet dealership service dept indicated that blinker switches in new Colorados have been malfunctioning and they are replacing the blinker switches due to defect. After collision repair, I will take the truck jn to get switch replaced AND inspect why the check engine light is illuminated.
After making a right turn, when you bring the steering wheel back it will turn on the left turn signal for 3+ flashes instead of just canceling out the right turn. So after most right turns, the left blinker will come on when straightening back out. This is a bigger safety issue than GM is leading on. I have had two "close calls" because of it. People will pull out on frontage roads because they think I am immediately making a left turn after a right turn. This issue is tracked all the way back to early 2023. There are forums all over and I would guess there are thousands of people dealing with this issue now. All I have seen is a bulletin issued by GM but none of the fixes actually fix the problem.
As I was pulling into my driveway, my 2024 Chevy Colorado erroneously sensed a pedestrian and suddenly applied the brakes. I was traveling about 7 mph. There was no person or object in my path.
Steering Column cover was rattling and felt coming apart. When Right side Turn signal was activated and the turn was completed, automatically left side turn signal was activated. Both of the above concerns were addressed by the GM Chevrolet authorized dealer on 8/26/2024. Again the Turn signal started malfunctioning as stated above, and the vehicle is now at the same GM authorized dealer for service with additional AC compressor failure. Date: 5/28/2025.
We purchased a 2024 Chevy Colorado mid June and drove it successfully, without incident until the end of August when the vehicle had complete brake failure. My husband was driving on I-95 in morning rush hour traffic when the dashboard lit up flashing several different indicators and a message saying "Brake System Failure" and "Service ESC" He had no brakes but could slow somewhat by applying as much pressure as he could to the brake pedal. He got the car to the dealer that same morning, Grieco Cheverolet Delray. They worked on the car all day and we were called in the late afternoon to pick up. It was explained to us that GM advised their mechanics to restart the computer that controls that component and that the problem should be fixed. We were also told they were going to go ahead and order a replacement part in case "it happened again." This comment did not leave us with much confidence. Then, as we were checking out, the employee noticed there was no explanation of what had been done to the vehicle. He called the mechanic and said he refused to hand over the keys until notes were added explaining what was done to address this serious issue. So notes were made, copies were handed over, and off we went. The truck drove perfectly until exactly one week later when the dash lit up again with all kinds of alerts and lights stating, "Brake System Failure" and "Service ESC." That's right, no brakes again. We had the truck towed back to the dealer this time and we have been told they have ordered "the part" and it will probably be 3 weeks. That was one week ago and we have not heard anything yet. We have concerns over how nonchalant Cheverolet and the dealer seem to be about a brand new car having complete brake failure twice and no real explanation as to why. Can you advise? Thank you
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance sensor failed to function as needed. The contact stated that the brake was activated without cause. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed camera. The contact was informed that the camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 425.
Right turn signal auto-cancel activates left turn lane change signal aproximately 60% of the time. This may cause confusion to oncoming traffic and could lead to an accident. Dealer did not road test vehicle, tryed to replicate problem with the vehicle stationary. This defect only arises while the vehicle is in motion.
I'm having an issue with my 2024 Colorado Trail Boss. After making a right hand turn with the signal on, once the stalk bounces back, it overcorrects and 'taps' the indicator and flashes left 3 times. I've seen some other owners having this issue on online forums throughout the Colorado and GMC canyon lineup. I think it's a pretty big safety concern to give improper navigation signals, 50% of the time I take a right hand turn.
2024 COLORADO TB purchased new on [XXX]. About 3 days later with 150 miles logged parked in my driveway I noticed OIL spots and leaking. Drove to dealer and they kept it for around 3 days. Dealer contacted GM to supply data points and information. GM had a bulletin placed for REAR MAIN OIL SEAL AND GASKET failure they attributed to faulty parts from original plant inside U.S. Dealer received authorization and billed warranty pulled tranny (allegedly) and replaced rear main oil seal gaskets to stop leaks. Had truck back in 3 days with much pressure and calls noting it was a brand new truck. A few quirks and lights I'm monitoring NOT related to this noted issue stated. GM was attempting to determine how many trucks these faulty gasket seals affected. Dealer was good about providing rental free and turned truck around quick. Extremely odd and quirky for brand new truck with 150 miles logged but I guess things happen it is what it is. I read all the other blogs and statements noted here so I wanted to include this one. Right turn signal when returning to the off position after completing a R/H turn is turning on the Left signal momentary 3 flashes. This condition happens with every use of the R/H turn signal
I bought a 2024 Colorado Trail Boss on May 31 and after a week the truck broke down I made a stop in a T intersection, once I had a clear path I started to accelerate and in that moment the truck jerked and at the same time I heard a loud noise under the back of the car. It felt like if I had been accelerating in neutral and suddenly changed gear to drive. After that, the car continue moving but after a few seconds the truck started to lose power and going super slow I tried to accelerate but the truck did not respond. I was able to pull off the road and stop in a parking lot. after that the truck no longer moved forward or backward regardless of what gear the car was in...the car didn't move again. he truck was towed to a Chevrolet dealer, and after two weeks, the service advisor informed me that the issue was with the transmission valve body. When this happen my family was with me in the truck, Luckily, nothing serious happened and I was able to get off the road.
I purchased a new 2024 Chevy Colorado Z71 a few weeks ago. The windshield has some manufacturing defects. There are rings inside the glass that cause bad glare. I have tried using window cleaners but the rings are inside the layers of glass. I had the dealership inspect the issues and they confirmed there are flaws in the windshield. Dealership is trying to work with GM on the issue.
After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the vehicle will sometimes signal a left turn for 3 blinks. I believe this is because the turn signal stalk 'bounces' down to the left turn signal area when returning back to normal position from a right turn. This is a safety issue because the vehicle is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended. This could cause confusion to other drivers on the road.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard and was spongy. Additionally, the navigation system shut off unexpectedly, and the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light illuminated, causing the seat belt to tighten while the vehicle was in park. The contact also received OnStar alerts that the vehicle was being stolen and that the 12-Volt battery voltage had dropped. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was driven to the dealer to repair the issues, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,285.
These features no longer work in the vehicle. There may be others that I have not noticed yet. Chevrolet requires you to purchase a Onstar subscription at the price of 25.99 a month for these safety features to work. It also requires Onstar for the talk button on steering wheel to work along with talk to text. No longer shows the current posted speed limit on road on dash. No longer shows map on dash cluster. These are what I have noticed so far.
About 30 minutes after driving at low/ moderate speeds, the emergency automatic braking system and five other braking systems failed while the vehicle was in motion. Parking brake was used but nothing worked until the car was in neutral and came to a natural stop. Almost caused an accident.
Occasional lag in camera systems turning on. When trying to maneuver in close quarters will turn on front and 360 cameras and sometimes have to push the camera button multiple times and up to 4 seconds delay in cameras coming on
While driving my dash and infotainment system shut off and rebooted. This left me without any vehicle information like speed nor any safety assist devices.
Component/system issue: Intermittent loss of power assist to brakes after auto start-stop startup. Safety Risk: Unable to use brakes normally. Requires hard brake pedal pumping to get vehicle to stop. Reproduced by others: No. Doesn't happen every time. It has happened a total of three times (so far). Inspected by manufacturer: Yes. The first time, the dealer found low voltage DTC set. Replaced battery. Second time, dealer found low voltage DTC (P 0562) set. They contacted GM TAC who provided a file to patch the radio software. Third time, other (possibly related) electronics issues were also present which caused the vehicle to enter limp mode every time it's driven. They've replaced the ECU and the accelerator pedal, neither of which fixed that issue. They are now awaiting a wiring harness from GM to see if that is the root cause. Hopefully it also fixes the intermittent loss of power brakes after auto start-stop startup. Warning lamps/messages/other symptoms prior to failure: No symptoms prior to the failure. Upon startup caused by auto start-stop feature, the symptoms are as follows: All warning lamps illuminate and several messages display on the instrument cluster screen about loss of ESC, ABS, traction control, collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and others. One by one, the warning lights go out within 1 minute, except ABS. Power assist for the brakes is not available while this light is illuminated. Within approx. 2 minutes, the ABS light goes out and brakes function normally again.
I was driving the vehicle up a mountain, in a 70m speed zone, when the dash board lit up. The vehicle started to decelerate, I pushed the gas petal but it just decelerated. I put on the emergency light and continued to the exit. Stopping in Liberty Pa, at an Exxon station. Called GM roadside assistance. On-Demand Diagnostics stated: ECM-Engine System code P00700. TCM P0658, TCM P2729, and P281D. Odometer reading 3840. Remaining oil life: 49%. Our safety was compromised by the unexpected deceleration of the vehicle and possibly being stranded on the road. Was luck to get off the highway safely. The car was towed to Jack McNerney Chevrolet, Inc. 363 NYS Rt13, Tully, NY 13159 +13156968976. The car has been at the dealer since the night of [XXX]. Have been told that the car is not drivable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
First occurrence I was traveling 55 mph down a country road at 7:30 a.m. driving into the sun and at 55 mph with a car following me My truck just instantly locked the brakes up and came to a stop. The second occurrence was at my son's school I turned the corner at a stop sign and right after I turn the corner and started accelerating the truck slammed on the brakes to an instant stop with no cars in front of me or in the other lane on coming.
Date: [XXX] | Location [XXX] Leaving Costco 1 ½ after entering entrance headed to Savannah. I was traveling at approximately 60 miles a hour with heavy traffic alongside me and a tractor trailer behind me when I felt my Truck quickly de-accelerate on its on. Then I saw the “Sudden Warning on Dashboard, “Reduced Acceleration – Drive with Care” then the 2nd Warning on Dashboard, “ Service Traction Control.” I was almost REAR ENDED by the Tractor Trailer. I was never so startled but I keep my nerve….got over to the right lane at slowed speed (It was weird. Speed slowed but felt like I was in high gear….) I droves about a ½ mile …. got off at next exit and pulled over at gas station. I turned car completely off and tried to reset computers, but it would not. I decided to drive under 35 miles a hour on side streets to Dan Vaden dealership. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
