Transmission gets stuck in park position and I am unable to shift it into any other gear. Unable to move the car if it's in a dangerous location.
STRONG SMELL OF GAS AROUND CAR, INSIDE CAR AND INSIDE GARAGE.. VEHICLE CONFIRMED BY DEALER TO HAVE CRACK IN PLASTIC ON FUEL PUMP. DEFECT IN PLASTIC.. GM WILL NOT COVER COST TO REPAIR SINCE NO RECALL ON THIS HAS BEEN ISSUED.
STRONG FUEL SMELL, FUEL LEAKS BACK IN SHOP FOR MASSIVE FUEL LEAK. WAS IN SHOP A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND THE EVAP VALVE WAS REPLACED, NEW GAS CAP INSTALLED.
FUEL LEAKING FROM GAS TANK AFTER FILLING WITH FRESH FUEL IN ADDITION TO STRONG FUEL ORDER FROM INSIDE OF VEHICLE CABIN. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS. FUEL ODOR IS SO STRONG VEHICLE MUST HAVE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN PRIOR TO ENTERING CABIN.
GEAR SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON LOCKS AND OPERATOR IS UNABLE TO SHIFT VEHICLE BACK INTO PARK OR EVEN REVERSE AT TIMES. VEHICLE MAY ALSO GET STUCK IN REVERSE AND NOT BE ABLE TO GO BACK INTO PARK NOR DRIVE. ISSUE HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND MAKES VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION
FUEL SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. SHOP INSPECTED AND FOUND A FUEL LEAK FROM THE TOP OF LEFT FUEL TANK. TESTED AND FOUND ELBOW OUT OF FUEL PUMP CRACKED. REMOVED AND REPLACED LEFT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.
LEFT SIDE FUEL TANK STILL LEAKING AFTER REPAIR AT CHEVY DEALER DURING SUMMER 2018. CRACKED FUEL TANK ON TOP OF LEFT FUEL TANK. DEALER REPLACED SENDING UNIT WHICH ALSO WAS FAULTY.MANY OTHER CORVETTE OWNERS HAVE THIS ISSUE, CHEVY CLAIMS WEAR AND TEAR, FUEL TANK IS PLASTIC AND NOT A MOVING PART . AFTER START UP CABIN REEKS OF FUEL AND SO DOES SURROUNDING AREA. I.E GARAGE UNDER CHILDS BEDROOM. MANY 2008 CORVETTE OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED OR HAVE SEEKED HELP OF THIS ISSUE, BUT CHEVY ONLY ISSUED A 10 YEAR 120K MILE LIMITED WARRANTY. CHEVY COBALTS HAVE A RECALL FOR FAULTY LEAKING FUEL TANKS CHEVY ARE REPLACING THEM BUT NOT CHEVY'S FLAGSHIP CAR. NO INCIDENTS OR ACCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED, BUT ITS UNSETTLING TO KNOW FUEL IS LEAKING ON A HOT EXHAUST AND THE SMELL OF FUEL IN CABIN WHILE OCCUPIED AND WHILE STORED IN A GARAGE AFTER USE.
PRIMARY TANK MODULE FLANGE FUEL AND VAPOR LEAK ON TOP OF PRIMARY FUEL PUMP CAUSING HAZARDOUS FUMES IN GARAGE AND CAR.
USING ACCESSORIES FUNCTION, SHORTS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OUT: WITH THE CAR ENGINE OFF, I TURN ON ACCESSORIES, PLAY THE RADIO, ETC. WHEN THE ACCESSORIES ENDS ITS CYCLE AND SHUTS-OFF THE CAR WILL NOT START. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM SHUNTS/SHORTS OUT, NOTHING OPERATES UNTIL THE BATTERY IS BLED DOWN. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUING PROBLEM
VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL IF THE FUEL TANK IS 3/4 TO COMPLETELY FULL. I HAVE FILLED THE TANK UP AND HAVE DRIVEN IT, PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE, AND THEN THE NEXT MORNING THE GARAGE SMELLS LIKE FUEL. VERY STRONG ODOR.
VEHICLE CONTINUALLY IS STUCK IN PARK. VEHICLE HAS 26K MILES.IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS, SINCE APRIL OF 2018. RESEARCH FROM CORVETTE FORUM SHOWS THIS IS A CONTINUAL ISSUE WITH C6 CORVETTES (2005-2013), AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING...THEY SHOULD ISSUE A VOLUNTARY RECALL OR A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE
FUEL PUMP FORMS LEAK ON TOP OF TANK CREATING HEAVY FUEL SMELL THAT FILLS GARAGE AND ENTERS HOME. FUEL BELIEVED TO ALSO LEAK DOWNWARD ONTO EXHAUST PIPES. OCCURS WHILE RUNNING AND FUMES OCCUR AS PARKED WITH MOTOR OFF.

STRONG FUEL SMELL COMING FROM CAR AFTER FILLUP, SEEMS LIKE FUEL LEAK. IT FILLS UP GARAGE WITH VERY VERY VERY STRONG SMELL OF FUEL. DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE COMING FROM THE GAS CAP, BUT SMELL IS STRONG. WORRIED THAT THE LEAK ONTO EXHAUST WILL CAUSE A FIRE
SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE GARAGE. APPEARS TO BE A FUEL LEAK ON LEFT SIDE OF CAR.
TOP OF FUEL TANK COVERED WITH RAW FUEL. DON'T KNOW EXACT SOURCE YET AS CAR IS IN REPAIR SHOP NOW. WILL FOLLOW UP WITH MORE LATER. DEPENDING ON FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK, GAS FUMES ARE HEAVY OR LIGHT. POSSIBLE FIRE OR EXPLOSION IF LEFT IN CONFINED SPACE.
THE VEHICLE HAS A STRONG FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL. DEALER TELLS ME GM IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE BUT MY CAR IS 10 YEARS AND 1 MONTH OLD. REPAIR THROUGH GM IS ONLY UP TO 10 YEARS. THE VEHICLE CAN'T BE PARKED IN GARAGE AND I AM FEARFULLY WHEN DRIVING IT. GM SPECIAL COVERAGE # FOR THIS ISSUE IS 15682.. REFERSNCE # N150682.
THERE IS A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. IT CAN BE HEAVILY CONCENTRATED INSIDE THE CAR IF THE WINDOWS ARE UP AND THE FUEL TANK IS FULL. WITH THE CAR PARKED IN MY CLOSED GARAGE YOU COULD SMELL FUEL INSIDE MY HOUSE. NO FUEL LEAK IS VISIBLE. THE SMELL US REDUCED AS FUEL LEVEL DECREASES. EXCESSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION RATE IS ALSO OBSERVED. THE FUEL SMELL IS PRESENT AT ALL TIMES BUT IS EVEN WORSE WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION.
I CONTINUE TO SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING FROM MY VEHICLE, INSIDE AND OUT. IT SMELLS PARTICULARLY STRONG JUST AFTER REFUELING BUT NEVER REALLY GOES AWAY. I DON'T SEE ANY FUEL LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND BENEATH CAR WHEN I LOOK FOR IT. WHEN I PARK IN MY GARAGE, THE SMELL IS STRONGEST AND ON MANY OCCASIONS IT HAS BEEN NECESSARY TO OPEN BOTH MY GARAGE DOORS AND TURN ON A FAN TO AIR OUT THE ODOR. OF COURSE I AM CONCERNED THAT THE FUMES WILL FILL UP THE SPACE AND BECOME IGNITED BY AN IGNITION SOURCE AND BLOW UP MY HOUSE OR OTHER PLACE WHERE I PARK MY VEHICLE. MY CORVETTE IS NEVER DRIVEN HARD OR RACED ON A TRACK AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT THAT MAY HAVE DISLODGED FUEL LINES OR OTHERWISE DAMAGED THE FUEL SYSTEM. I HAVE READ IN ARTICLES AND OTHER REPORTS THAT MANY OTHER CORVETTE OWNERS OF MY VINTAGE ARE EXPERIENCING OR HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WHERE IT HAS BECOME SERIOUS ENOUGH TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A FACTORY PRODUCTION DEFECT AND MUST BE THE SUBJECT OF A VEHICLE RECALL FOR THE MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS YEAR CHEVROLET CORVETTE. LETS NOT WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN DIES DUE TO THIS VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE.
WHEN TANK IS FILLED WITH FUEL THERE IS A TREMENDOUS STRONG GAS SMELL. THIS SMELL LASTS UNTIL ABOUT HALF THE FUEL IS USED. GAS CAP IS PROPER AND UNAFFECTED. THE SMELL IS STRONG REGARDLESS IF THE VEHICLE IS SETTING STILL OR IN MOTION. SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE 2008 C6 CORVETTES.
VEHICLE MAY REMAIN LOCKED IN PARK OR NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVING GEARS BACK TO PARK. VERY WIDE SPREAD ISSUE ON THIS MODEL.
FUEL LEAK IN TANK AREA. EXTREME FUMES MOST NOTICED AFTER FILLING
THERE IS A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL INSIDE THE CAR BUT NO OBVIOUS LEAKS. THE CAR DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE USING GAS FASTER THAN ANTICIPATED. IT SMELLS STRONGEST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN MANY OWNERS HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS WITH THE FUEL TANK OR FUEL LINE. THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS MOMENT THIS STARTED OR EVENT THAT CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR JUST STARTED SMELLING LIKE GAS.

THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS, NO GAS POOLING AND THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. THERE APPEAR TO BE HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT ISSUE DUE TO A FAULTY PART ON THE GAS TANK (SEE VIDEO). IT IS NOT DUE TO A NUMBER OF MILES DRIVEN BUT APPEARS TO BE A PART THAT IS DEFECTIVE OVER TIME DUE TO BRITTLE PLASTIC. THE GAS SMELL IS INCREDIBLY STRONG AND MAKES THE CAR UNDRIVABLE UNLESS THE WINDOWS ARE ALWAYS FULLY DOWN. ALSO GENERALLY UNSURE IF THE CAR IS GOING TO EXPLODE DUE TO THE CONTINUING POOLING OF FUEL OVER TIME.

THE PROBLEM IS I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED IF THE FUEL TANK WAS OVER HALF FULL THE FUMES WERE UNBEARABLE. ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PARK INSIDE MY GARAGE. THE SMELL IN THE INSIDE OF THE CAR IS VERY STRONG. THE RECALL (EXTENDED WARRANTY) STATES THAT ITS ONLY GOOD FOR 10 YEARS OR 120K MILES, BUT SINCE MY 2008 CORVETTE WAS INITIALLY SOLD ON 10/25/17 AND ONLY HAS 40K MILES THEY HAVE REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS EXPENSIVE, DANGEROUS ISSUE. THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE SAFETY CONCERN, BUT HAVE CAPPED THE TIME IT CAN BE REPAIRED. WHICH MAKES ZERO SENSE. IF ITS DANGEROUS, ITS DANGEROUS. I BOUGHT THE CAR 12/2017 AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE PROBLEM, BUT SINCE I MISSED THE DEADLINE BY LESS THAN 60 DAYS THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. ONLY 36,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND THERE IS A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR WHEN IT'S PARKED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. THE GAS SMELL STARTED ABOUT A WEEK AGO. BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING THEN GO OFF WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. HAPPENS STOPPED OR MOVING. HAVE HEARD A FAULTY BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) CAUSES THIS.
ANY TIME I FILL UP THE CAR WITH GASOLINE, I SMELL A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL FOR DAYS, IN THE GARAGE AND INSIDE THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. THE SMELL SUBSIDES ONCE THE FUEL LEVEL GETS BELOW HALF TANK. THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IS USUALLY A LEAK IN THE PLASTIC FUEL PUMP THAT SPRAYS GASOLINE ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TANK VERY CLOSE TO THE HOT EXHAUST PIPES. SMELL OF GAS ON THE LEFT SIDE BACK OF CAR NEAR FUEL CAP FUEL PUMP IS LEAKING GAS VERY POWERFUL 2008 CHEVY CORVETTE
FUEL LEAKS OUT OF THE FUEL PUMP AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK. THIS CAN LEAK ONTO THE EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING, OR POOL ON TOP OF THE TANK LEAVING A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN THE CAR AND GARAGE.
FUEL LEAK IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FUEL PUMP CAUSING STRONG FUEL SMELL DUE TO ACCUMULATED FUEL IN PANELS SURROUNDING THE DRIVER'S SIDE FUEL TANK. FIRE HAZARD POTENTIAL FOR DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY AND INJURY OR DEATH.
MY 2008 CHEVROLET CORVETTE SMELL OF GAS VAPOR WHEN I FILL IT UP I NOTICE THE SMELL WHEN PARK IT IN THE GARAGE I NOTICE THE SMELL ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO
THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE'S FUEL SYSTEM WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO SMELL LIKE GAS EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILLED UP THE TANK. LAST YEAR I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR OVER 5 MONTHS. THEY SAID THEY REPAIRED THE PROBLEM BUT IT WAS NOT FIXED. I CALLED THEM TO TELL THEM THE CAR STILL SMELLED LIKE GAS. THIS YEAR I GOT HOLD OF GM AND THEY SENT ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. THEY SAID THEY WOULD ONLY PAY FOR 60% AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 40% AND THE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THAT IS THE FACT THAT IT WAS NEVER REPAIRED AT ALL TO BEGIN WITH. I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR AND CAN'T AFFORD IT.
UPON STOPPING MY VEHICLE, I PLACED IT IN PARK. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE CAR WENT FORWARD. WHEN I PLACED THE CAR IN REVERSE AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE CAR WENT FORWARD AGAIN. I NEARLY PINNED AN INDIVIDUAL BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE ONE PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BROKEN CABLE BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION LEVER AND THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER INDICATED THIS WAS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE COULD RESULT INVERY SERIOUS INJURY.
MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC NOTED SOME GAS LEAKING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE FUEL TANK WHILE DOING MAINTENANCE. HE COULD NOT SEE THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. I WILL TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. IS THIS COVERED UNDER EMISSIONS? THE GARAGE AND PASSENGER COMPARTMENT NOW HAVE A STRONGER SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE LAST WEEK. I HAVE NOTED WEBSITE CORVETTE SITES WHICH STATE THIS IS A FREQUENT DEFECT. PLEASE ADVISE IF IT IS A EMISSIONS PROBLEM. IT CERTAINLY HAS RESULTED IN RAW FUEL BEING DUMPED INTO THE ATMOSPHERE, AND IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERN.
CRACKED/LEAKING DRIVERS SIDE FUEL TANK
THE COCKPIT OF THE CAR SMELLS LIKE FUEL AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK TO FULL
EVERY TIME A FILL THE GAS TANK TO 3/4 OR MORE I SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE CAR AND INSIDE THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL. THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE ODOR IS NEAR THE EXHAUST PIPE. NOW I ONLY FILL THE TANK TO A MAX OF HALF-FULL TO TRY TO SAVE MYSELF FROM A DEADLY EXPLOSION. CHEVEROLET NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE A FRIEND OF MINES HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. FURTHER INVESTIGATING THIS MATTER, I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE 100'0'S OF C6'S ON THE ROAD WITH THIS PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS USED AND DID NOT NOTICE THE SMELL BECAUSE THE TANK WAS ONLY A 1/4 FULL
STRONG GASOLINE VAPORS FILLING THE GARAGE WHEN CAR IS PARKED OVER NIGHT. NOTICED AFTER A FILL UP.
WHEN I FILL THE GAS TANK THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN AND AROUND THE CAR, WHEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE IT BE COMES OVERWHELMING. I'M AFRAID IT COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD. I RESEARCHED THE INFO AND WAS ADVISED TO GO TO THIS WEB SITE. IM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
GAS FUMES GATHER IN GARAGE WHEN CAR IS PARKED. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINT ON THE C6 CORVETTE MODEL ON WEB SITES ETC. NO GAS IS DRIPPING AS MANY HAVE REPORTED IT GATHERS ON TOP OF TANK AND THEN EVAPORATES WHEN DRIVING. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT GM SHOULD BE CORRECTING.
WHENEVER THE CAR IS MORE THAN 1/2 FULL WITH FUEL, A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL LEAKS INTO THE CAR. THE SMELL IS POTENT ENOUGH TO MAKE THE ENTIRE GARAGE SMELL LIKE GASOLINE IF PARKED OVERNIGHT WITH THE GAS TANK BEING OVER 1/2 FULL. SIGNIFICANT FUEL LEAK AROUND GAS TANK NOTED AFTER INSPECTION FROM LOCAL MECHANIC.
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK FULL, VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. CHECKED BY MECHANIC AND NO VISIBLE GAS LEAK. ODOR CONTINUES WHILE STATIONARY OR MOVING. WHEN THE TANK IS ONLY HALF FULL THE SMELL IS NOT NOTICEABLE. JUST BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017 AND VEHICLE HAS 29,000 MILES. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE BLOWN UP OR INVOLVED IN A FIRE BEFORE GM TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT IN THE FUEL SYSTEM? IN RESEARCHING THIS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY GM.
9/2017. BEGAN TO SMELL GAS IN AND OUT OF OUR 2008 CORVETTE, TOOK CAR TO A CORVETTE SPECIALIST. I WAS TOLD THERE IS HAIRLINE CRACK WHERE THE NECK OF THE TACK MEETS THE TANK BODY. HAD TANK REPLACED WITH A USED TANK. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN WRECKED OR RACED. HAS LESS THAN 35K ON IT. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION AT CORVETTES OF HOUSTON.
"TAKATA RECALL" FOR SOME REASON I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I GO IN MY GARAGE WHERE MY CORVETTE IS PARKED THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE AND THERE ARE TIMES WHEN IT'S IN A CLOSED AREA I GET THE SMELL I HAVE READ THAT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEMS IN THESE C 6S
I OWN A 2008 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C6 BASE MODEL WITH CURRENTLY ABOUT 62,000 MILES. IT HAS NOW HAD 11 STEERING RACK FAILURES SINCE I BOUGHT IT USED IN AUGUST 2013 AT 18,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY SINCE AUGUST 14, 2017 ' AS OF THIS WEEK THAT'S 6 MONTHS IN THE SHOP WITHOUT NORMAL USE OF THE CAR. TO HAVE THIS MANY MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED PARTS FAILURES OVER 4 YEARS AT NORMAL USE (@ 10,000 MILES / YEAR) IS INEXCUSABLE, FRUSTRATING, AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. I AM WRITING THIS LETTER TO DOCUMENT STEPS I HAVE TAKEN TO DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE, THE ATTEMPTS TO INFORM GM OF THE ISSUE TO PREVENT FUTURE RISKS AND AGGRAVATION TO OTHER CUSTOMERS, TO REDUCE COST AND RISK TO GM, AND TO BE COMPENSATED FOR THE AGGRAVATION AND EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT AND TIME I HAVE HAD TO INVEST IN THIS ISSUE. THE 'OEM' RACK FROM GM PARTS FOR MY '08 CORVETTE IS PART #19330457 AND IS APPROXIMATELY $1200. THERE ARE SEVERAL HOURS OF LABOR TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE RACK AND REALIGN THE FRONT WHEELS EACH TIME IT IS REPLACED. THUS EACH REPLACEMENT JOB COSTS $2000 IN TOTAL. HAD I NOT BOUGHT A 3RD PARTY EXTENDED WARRANTY I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF POCKET OVER $10,000! IN REPAIRS ON JUST THE STEERING OF THIS CAR. IN SUM, OVER 4 YEARS MY WARRANTY COMPANY HAS PAID OVER $10,000, I HAVE PAID OVER $2000 OUT OF POCKET, AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF 8 MONTHS SO FAR ON ITS STEERING-RACK RELATED ISSUES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CLUTCH PEDAL FAILED TO DISENGAGE AND BECAME STUCK TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT ACCELERATED DUE TO THE CLUTCH BEING IN GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OF THE CLUTCH FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
