TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED INTERMITTENTLY AND A LEAK WAS NOTICED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V360000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE DEALER REPLACED THE VACUUM LEAK, CAM SHAFT COVER, AND VALVE COVER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE SERVICE BRAKES WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VALVE COVER AND PCV HOSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE WHICH CAUSED THE COOLING FLUID AND OIL TO MIX. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,263.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A BURNING ODOR EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
1.4 LITER 2011 CRUZE HEATER BLOWING COOL AIR. GM INSPECTION DONE ON 10/17/13 AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. THEY TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT KEEPS COMING ON. THIS HAPPENED WITHIN TWO WEEKS. WE ADDED A ALMOST A QUART OF COOLANT FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. NOW A MONTH LATER IT IS A QUART LOW AGAIN BLOWING COOL AIR FROM THE HEATER AND A STRONG SWEET SMELL PERMEATES THE CAR. THE CAR ALSO FAILS TO PROPERLY BRAKE AT TIMES AND GAIN SPEED AT TIMES. IT HAS STALLED WHILE IDLING AT STOPLIGHTS. THERE IS A OILY RESIDUE ON THE PLASTIC SHIELD LOCATED NEAR THE OIL PAN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER BLADE STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS SCARY BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE. I PULLED IN AT MECHANIC SHOP TO CHECK IT OUT. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME WHERE THE ARM FOR THE DRIVER SIDE IS CONNECTED BY BEING PRESSED INTO A BALL. IN MY VEHICLE THE ARM POPPED OUT OF THE BALL CAUSING THE DRIVER'S SIDE BLADE TO STOP WORKING. THE PLASTIC SOCKET PROBABLY GOT WORN. THE MECHANIC DID NOT HAVE THE ARM AVAILABLE SO HE INNOVATED. I OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES IN MY LIFE AND MUCH OLDER AND THE WIPER BLADES NEVER QUIT LIKE THIS. I THINK IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM SCARED DRIVING THE CRUZE. I STILL HAVE THE INNOVATED FIX IN CASE SOMEBODY WANTS TO LOOK AT IT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH CHEVY. *TR
PROBLEM STARTED CLOSE TO WINTER,OCTOBER 2013. COOLANT LEVEL SLOWLY DECREASED, NOT CONCERNED AT THE TIME, JUST TOPPED OFF DURING OIL CHANGES. FAST FORWARD TO APRIL 2014, REFILL OF COOLANT NEEDED DAILY IF HEAT IS USED. COOLANT TANK IS COMPLETELY EMPTY AFTER CAR IS OFF AND SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS! LARGE PUDDLE OF COOLANT UNDER ENGINE, NOT THE RADIATOR. REMAINS TO BE A SLOW LEAK. WHEN HEAT IS ON, COOLANT BEGINS TO SLOWLY LEAK UNDERNEATH ENGINE. TEMP GAUGE IS ALWAYS NORMAL. NO SIGNS OF OVERHEATING, NO EXCESS COOLANT IN ENGINE BAY. ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE COMPLETED BY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS. DEX (GM SPECIFIC COOLANT, ORANGE IN COLOR) COOLANT USED EXCLUSIVELY. EVERY TIME HEAT IS TURN ON, AT ANY TEMP, AT ANY FAN SPEED, AT ANY SETTING (DEFROST, FLOOR, ETC.) THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF BURNING/HOT COOLANT. I AM UNABLE TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN VEHICLE!, WHEN HEAT IS NEEDED IN VEHICLE. ODOR IS TOO STRONG AND CHILDREN COMPLAINED OF NAUSEA AND LIGHTHEADEDNESS. TO MANY INSTANCES SIMILAR TO THIS LISTED. MIL P0171 CODE, REPLACED 3 VALVE COVERS BECAUSE OF THE PCV AND NOW I'VE BEEN INFORMED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS DEFECTIVE.
EVERY TIME I USE MY HEATER I GET A STRONG BURNING SMELL OF COOLANT/ ANTIFREEZE AND LOSS OF COOLANT. MOSTLY WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT/STOP SIGN AND IT'S INTERMITTENT BETWEEN SLIGHT OR REALLY STRONG. I DID A LOT OF ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS, EVEN FOUND LOCAL NEWS STORIES FROM OTHER STATES ON YOUTUBE. ALL FINGERS SEEM TO POINT TO THE HEATER CORE AND OR THE GREASE USED IN THE HVAC SYSTEM.THE SMELL IS SO BAD SOMETIMES THAT I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN AT LEAST TWO WINDOWS AND TURN OFF THE INTERIOR FAN UNTIL I START DRIVING AGAIN. I BOUGHT THE CAR CERTIFIED USED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND THEY SHOULD HAVE CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION 2 YEARS AGO WHEN THE PROBLEM AND COMPLAINTS STARTED. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ALREADY. IN SEPT OF 2013 AFTER JUST A FEW MONTHS OF OWNING THE CAR I WAS REAR-ENDED AT A SPEED OF 25-30 MPH. THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY AND MY HEAD BOUNCED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE HEADREST WHERE I SUFFERED A SEVERE CONCUSSION LEAVING ME OUT OF WORK FOR A MONTH. ALSO MY RADIO CONSOLE LIGHTS FLASH ON AT RANDOM TIMES, I EXPERIENCE THE TURBO LAG CRAP THE DEALERSHIP GIVES AS AND EXCUSE (ESPECIALLY AFTER TELLING ME DURING A SERVICE TEST DRIVE THAT MY CAR DIDN'T HAVE A TURBO!) AND AFTER OWNING IT FOR 1 MONTH A PART OF THE ENGINE FAN SHEERED OFF AND DESTROYED MY A/C UNIT LEAVING ME WITH A $2500 BILL TO REDO THAT. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY SETTLEMENT FROM THE ACCIDENT TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS CAR. THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST CHEVY EVER! *TR
2011 CHEVY CRUZE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. OCCASIONAL HESITATION ACCELERATING, CLUNKING JERKING TRANSITIONING THROUGH GEARS ACCELERATING OR SLOWING DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY. TRIED TO ACCELERATE ON HIGHWAY AND CAR TOOK A LONG WHILE TO GET UP TO SPEED WHILE OTHER CARS BEHIND ME WERE HONKING HORNS FOR ME TO SPEED UP. DEALER SAYS ALL IS FINE AND THAT'S JUST HOW THE TRANSMISSION AND TURBO ENGINE IS! CAN NEVER DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM. NOW NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, THE DEALER IS WILLING TO KEEP THE CAR FOR A LONGER PERIOD. GM SAYS IT WOULD "SEE" WHAT THEY COULD DO AFTER THE DEALER PHYSICALLY INSPECTS THE TRANSMISSION AT MY COST. THE DEALER CHARGES $145. PER HR. LABOR RATE!! I WENT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HAD THEM CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BECAUSE THE DEALER SAID THE FLUID DOESN'T NEED AND HE SAID IT WAS BLACK! HAD IT CHANGED AFTER I READ COMPLAINTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. I AM JUST AFRAID THAT IT WILL QUIT ON ME WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED! I CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND MONEY ON A NEW TRANS IF I WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. GM SHOULD HAVE A FULL RECALL ON THE 2011 CRUZE. THE CAR HAD ONLY 29,000 MI. ON IT THE FIRST TIME I COMPLAINED AND NOW IT HAS 69,000 AND THE PROBLEM MANIFESTS ITSELF A LITTLE MORE FREQUENTLY BUT NOT ON A WEEKLY BASIS. I AM AT MY WITS END AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT IN MY HEAD. PEOPLE ARE IN DANGER AND GM ISN'T "OWNING" THIS PROBLEM. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I'VE MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE FAITHFULLY WITH OIL CHANGES, ETC. SINCE DAY ONE...RESPONDED TO ALL RECALLS. NOT GOING TO DEALER AGAIN. ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING TO REPAIR OR REPLACE.
ABOUT 4 PM ON 8/31/13:PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF SANDWICH SHOP AND HAIR SALON. NORMAL BRAKE PRESSURE APPLIED BUT VEHICLE DID NOT STOP, THEN BOTH FEET PRESSED ON BRAKE, BUT CARS MOMENTUM CAUSED IT TO JUMP THE CEMENT PARKING BLOCK. TO AVOID CRASHING THROUGH SALONS GLASS FRONT, STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT AND CAR CRASHED INTO, AND CAME TO A STOP AT BUILDINGS OUTSIDE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE. IN SO DOING, A CAR PARKED IN THE SPACE TO THE RIGHT, SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO DRIVERS SIDE- FRONT BUMPER. CHEVY CRUZE SUSTAINED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO RIGHT SIDE DOOR PANELS AND RIGHT-FRONT BUMPER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE EQUIPPED WITH MASTER CRAFT MC440 TIRES, SIZE: P215/60R16. THE CONTACT FELT A BULGE IN THE WALL OF THE TIRE WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG "OFF LIGHT" COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY ON MY 2011 CRUZE WHEN AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT -- INDICATING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS OFF. I'VE TAKEN IT TO MY GM DEALERSHIP TWICE AND BOTH TIMES THEY SAY THAT EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT OK AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE CAR AIR BAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. THERE IS A FLAW WITH THIS SAFETY SYSTEM AND GM SHOULD STEP FORWARD AND COME UP WITH A FIX. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VACUUM SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
WHEN DRIVING WITH AN ADULT FEMALE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIRBAG INDICATOR INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF. ADJUSTING THE SEAT HEIGHT SOMETIMES REMEDIES THIS PROBLEM, RESULTING IN THE INDICATOR LIGHT INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG IS ON. HOWEVER, MOST OF THE TIME, THE AIRBAG REMAINS OFF. WE NOTIFIED THE CHEVROLET DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS NORMAL. WE PURCHASED THIS CAR, IN PART, BECAUSE OF ITS EXCELLENT CRASH RATING. IT IS MOST DISTURBING TO REALIZE THAT IF WE EVER DID GET INTO A CRASH, THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG WOULD LIKELY NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THAT THIS IS "NORMAL". I FEEL LESS THAN SAFE IN THIS CAR. PLEASE HELP IN REMEDYING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE TWO 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZES THAT I PURCHASED NEW IN 2011. BOTH CARS BEGAN TO HAVE A SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AT ABOUT 7000 MILES WHICH MAKES STOPPING DIFFICULT. MOST NOTABLE AT LOW SPEEDS ESPECIALLY IN REVERSE AND TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED WITH ONE CRUZE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND TOOK THREE TRIPS TO THE DEALER TO REPAIR. IT JUST STARTED OCCURRING IN THE SECOND CRUZE (ABOUT 7300 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE) THIS WEEK. THE FACT YOU CAN NOT STOP THE CAR APPROPRIATELY SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES THE RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY. THE FACT THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED IN BOTH MY CRUZES SEEMS TO INDICATE A SIGNIFICANT MECHANICAL ISSUE AND NOT JUST A ONE TIME MALFUNCTION. *TR
VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OFF OF THE ON RAMP ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE COULD BE HEARD REVVING UP, BUT DID NOT INCREASE IN SPEED. WHEN EXITING THE HIGHWAY, I PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THEN BACK INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. EVEN IN MANUAL MODE THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO A FORWARD MOVING DRIVER. *TR
6/22/2013 I NOTICED TRANSMISSION LEAKING OIL. BEFORE THAT TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP ON HIGHWAY AND IN TRAFFIC. I TOLD DEALER BEFORE THAT I THINK THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD. DID NOT CHANGE GEARS PROPERLY. DEALER UPDATED COMPUTER BUT TRANSMISSION STILL HAD A HARD SHIFT. CAR WILL BE TAKEN TO DEALER TO HAVE CHECKED. RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED. GM SHOULD RECALLED AND REPLACED TRANSMISSIONS. TRANSMISSIONS CAN SLIP ON HIGHWAY OR IN TRAFFIC AND COULD CAUSE AN CRASH OR BRAKE DOWN. ALSO I HERE THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CRUZE. *TR
THE FLY WHEEL BECAME LOOSE CAUSING FRICTION AND HEAT. HEAT FROM THE FRICTION OF THE FLY WHEEL CAUSED THE CLUTCH TO MELT. *TR
2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKES MALFUNCTION. *SMD ON JUNE 19, 2013, THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF HIM STOPPED SUDDENLY AND WHEN APPLIED HIS BRAKES, THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP AT THE PROPER DISTANCE AND HE REAR ENDED THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN OCTOBER 2013 AND AGAIN IN MAY OF 2014. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ACCIDENT, WAS DUE TO THE RECALL. HE NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE IT WAS A LEASE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE STABILITY TRACK WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE YAW RATE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN MY CAR IS IN PARK, AND I TAKE IT OUT OF PARK TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE REVS UP AND IT "JUMPS" OUT OF GEAR. IF I AM SITTING IDLY AT A STOP LIGHT, IT DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME; AFTER PERFORMING ALL THE REQUIRED TEST, NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. IF I AM TURNING AND ONCE I ACCELERATE AFTER THE TURN, IT LOOSES POWER.

I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH MY CHEVROLET CRUZE WHICH IS COMMERCIALIZED IN MAURITIUS, SINCE MARCH 2013 THERE R A LOT OF VIBRATIONS AND I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER ALMOST 10 TIMES AND THEY HAVE CHANGE TWICE THE A/C COMPRESSOR BUT STILL THE VIBRATIONS IS GETTING WORST EVERYDAY, AND THIS IS REPRESENTING A DANGER FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. THE DEALER IN MAURITIUS IS COVERING UP ALL THE MANUFACTURING FAULT THAT THE CAR HAVE, AND THIS MORNING I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANICS HAS FEEL THE VIBRATION AND THEY TOLD THEIR BOSS THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM , THEY HAVE TOLD LIES AND IT IS A VERY SERIOUS AS THEY R PUTTING PEOPLE LIVES IN DANGER AS THE VIBRATIONS WILL DAMAGE THE CAR AND THUS CAN CAUSE DEPTH IN ACCIDENTS. ON MY 2011 CHEVY CRUZE I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY RADIATOR COOLANT TANK HAS BEEN LEAKING OUT ANTIFREEZE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT IN MAY 7TH 2013. I HAD IT TAKEN INTO THE DEALER AND IT GOT FIXED BY THE DEALER ON DATE LISTED. I HAVE CONTINUED TO BUY MORE OF THE SPECIAL BRAND OF COOLANT AND JUST BEEN FILLING IT UP WITHOUT HAVING TO GO TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THEN I HAVE NO VEHICLE TO DRIVE. LAST NIGHT ON 1/11/14 I PUT MORE ANTIFREEZE IN THE VEHICLE AND WAS GOING TO CHECK ON IT THE NEXT MORNING. I NOTICED THAT ON 1/12/14 THE NEXT DAY THAT THE RADIATOR COOLANT TANK WAS ALMOST EMPTY AFTER FILLING IT UP ALL THE WAY LAST NIGHT. LOOKING AROUND MY FATHER AND I SAW ANTIFREEZE SITTING ON THE TRANSMISSION AND NO HOSES ARE LEAKING. IT IS BEING TAKEN INTO THE DEALER AGAIN ON 1/13/14 FOR THIS ISSUE AGAIN. I HAVE FILLED A COMPLAINT WITH GM AND GOT A CASE #. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE NOTIFIED ME THAT IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN AFTER BEING TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CALL THEM AGAIN. MY FATHERS GUESS IS THAT THE PRESSURE IN THAT TANK IS 20PSI AND SINCE THE HOSE DOES NOT APPEAR TO LEAK THAT THE ANTI FREEZE FROM THE RADIATOR COOLANT TANK IS COMING OUT OF THE TANK FROM THE PRESSURE CAP.

I HAD COME FROM A RED LIGHT THAT TURNED GREEN, AND AS I APPROACHED THE NEXT RED LIGHT, IT HAD TURNED GREEN BEFORE I GOT THERE. I WENT TO SLOW DOWN BEFORE REALIZING HE WAS ACTUALLY STOPPED (AT THAT MOMENT, WAS UNAWARE OF AN AMBULANCE.) WHEN I REALIZED HE WAS ACTUALLY STOPPED, I STILL HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP THE DISTANCE I WAS FROM HIS CAR AHEAD OF ME, BUT MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP! MOST OF THE MILES I PUT ON A CAR ARE HIGHWAY MILES. I HAVE A 90 MILE ROUND TRIP TO GET TO WORK. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR AND HAD ROUGHLY 60,000 MILES ON IT (SUMMER OF 2013). THE A/C SHUT OFF AND THE WATER TEMPERATURE ROSE VERY QUICKLY. VERY STRONG SMELL WHEN STOPPED AND THERE'S NO AIR FLOW TO DISSIPATE THE FUMES. JUST RECENTLY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SAME THING, A/C SHUT OFF, WATER TEMP INDICATOR PEGGED OUT AND I GOT A MESSAGE SAYING "GO TO IDLE" OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT. THERE WAS COOLANT SITTING ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. WITH THE CAR AT IDLE I COULD ONLY FIND A SMALL LEAK AT THE RADIATOR HOSE WHERE IT PLUGS INTO THE WATER OUTLET. I ASSUME THE LEAK IS MUCH WORSE WHEN THE WATER TEMP GOES UP AND THE SYSTEM PRESSURIZES. EVERY 50 MILES OR SO NOW I HAVE TO CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL OR RISK ANOTHER OVERTEMP. NEXT IS THE TRANSMISSION. I HATE THIS TRANSMISSION. IT'S VERY JERKY WHEN SHIFTING AND HAS BEEN SINCE DAY 1. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE ONLY MAINTENANCE FOR THIS PROBLEM IS REFILLING THE RESERVOIR WITH COOLANT INTL THE PROBLEM IS FOUND AND FIXED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FIRE REPORT FILED THAT STATED THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. ON FEBRUARY 17TH, 2012 I PURCHASED A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME BY JULY OF 2014 MY CAR WOULD BE IN TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. MARCH 7TH, 2013 (32,512 MILES); REPAIR: CHECKED FOR CODES, NO TRANSMISSION CODE; VEHICLE RE-PROGRAMMED WITH UPDATED SOFTWARE. SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2013 (36,623 MILES); REPAIR: TRANSMISSION REMOVED, FOUND METAL CONTAMINATING PISTONS, TCM FAILURE, TRANSMISSION REASSEMBLED. OCTOBER 17TH, 2013 (36,967 MILES); REPAIR: TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE WITH CUSTOMER, VERIFIED CONCERN. HESITATION, HARD DOWNSHIFT EXPERIENCED SHUDDER FROM STOP. COMPARED TO A STOCK VEHICLE; SAME HESITATION AND HARD DOWNSHIFT HOWEVER DOES NOT EXHIBIT ACCELERATION BUMP FROM STOP. VEHICLE REPAIR (COMPLETED 7 DAYS LATER ON OCTOBER 24TH, 2013): FAILED TCM AND VALVE BODY, VERIFIED ON TEST DRIVE. REPLACED TCM AND VALVE BODY. JANUARY 23RD, 2014 (MILEAGE UNKNOWN, WAS NOT PROVIDED WITH WORK ORDER FOR THIS VISIT); DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT CONFIRM PROBLEM AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE FOR ONLY 15 MILES. THEY WERE INFORMED THAT THE ISSUE IS RANDOM AND NOT CONSTANT. NO REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THIS VISIT. SINCE BEING TURNED AWAY BY THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP ON JANUARY 23RD, 2014 I RECORDED APPROXIMATELY 19 INSTANCES OF MY VEHICLE EITHER HESITATING, CHUGGING WHEN ACCELERATING, BANGING ITSELF INTO GEAR, ALMOST STALLING, AND THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY JUMPING FORWARD WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK AT STOP LIGHTS. IT WAS WHEN I ALMOST STALLED WITHIN A 6 WAY INTERSECTION THAT I CONTACTED ANOTHER CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP (JULY 10TH, 2014) FOR A SECOND OPINION. WITHIN TWO DAYS OF LEAVING MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP (JULY 24TH, 2014) IT WAS CONFIRMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT IN FACT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVING PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AS OF TODAY (JULY 30TH, 2014). THIS IS NOT A VEHICLE I FEEL IS SAFE OR RELIABLE.
THE CHROME COATING ON THE INSIDE DRIVERS SIDE PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE IS FAILING. THE EDGES OF THE CHROME WHERE IT HAS SEPARATED FROM THE PLASTIC ARE RAZOR SHARP AND HAVE CAUSED MULTIPLE FAIRLY DEEP LACERATIONS TO MY FINGERS WHEN OPENING THE DOOR. I INQUIRED AT THE DEALER ABOUT THEM REPLACING THE PART UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE ITS CAUSING ME INJURY DESPITE MY CAUTIOUSNESS WHILE OPENING THE HANDLE, THEY TOLD ME IT WASN'T COVERED AND WOULD BE AN EXPENSIVE FIX DUE TO THE LABOR INVOLVED. MY SECOND COMPLAINT IS THE HEAT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID I HAD A CRACKED THERMOSTAT HOUSING WHICH WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DID NOT FIX IT HOWEVER AND SIMPLY REFILLED MY ANTIFREEZE AND SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME TO HAVE IT FIXED WHEN THE PART CAME IN....THAT WAS ALMOST TWO WEEKS AGO. *TR
VEHICLE IS GRADUALLY LOSING(NOT LEAKING) ANTIFREEZE AND DEALERS NOT COMING CLEAN WITH THE TRUTH THEY KNOW. OUR PERSONAL MECHANIC(25YRS) HAS GONE OVER THE ENGINE/CAR AND NO VISIBLE OR VIA TESTING ,SHOWS A LEAK. LATEST ANTIFREEZE FILL NEEDED APPROX 1/2 TO 3/4GAL OF ANTIFREEZE. TOOK MY 2011 CHEVY CRUZE INTO THE SHOP ON FEBRUARY AFTER THE RADIO, DASH, HEADLIGHTS BEGAN SHORTING OUT (FLICKERING ON AND OFF) THE DASH WOULD FLASH BACK ON IT A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE AND THEN RESET ITSELF ONCE THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. INITIAL QUOTE FROM MECHANIC WAS THAT IT NEEDED A NEW ALTERNATOR. I THEN DID A INTERNET SEARCH TO FIND OUT MANY CONSUMERS ON FORUMS WERE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THAT TIME WE REFUSED WORK FROM THE MECHANIC AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE GROUNDING WIRES WERE TIGHTENED. THE WORK WAS DONE AND ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE ISSUES STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN, THIS TIME WHEN THE "FLICKERING" WOULD HAPPEN, THEY DASH WOULD FLASH "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL". THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATED THE CAR NEEDED NEW BATTERY CABLES. AFTER REVIEWING THE CONCERNS ON THE FORUMS FOR OTHER CRUZE CUSTOMERS WHO STATED THIS WAS REPLACED ON THEIR CARS AND THE PROBLEM KEPT HAPPENING, I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT OPTION, THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER SO WE TOOK MY CAR HOME. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, THIS WEEK, THE CAR BEGAN A NEW MALFUNCTION WHILE "FLICKERING" THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WOULD QUIT WORKING, LEAVING YOU WITH NO CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE WHILE ON THE ROADS. MY HUSBANDS PICKED THE CAR UP FROM ME AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM ALONG WITH THE DOOR LOCKS RESETTING AND FEELING THE ENGINE CUTTING OUT "DYEING" THEN RESTARTING ITSELF. UPON OUT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS ASKED THAT THEY INSPECT THE CAR WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB AND GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM.
