THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASED OF ENGINE RPMS AS THE ENGINE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AND JERKED INTO GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WAS DRIVING THE CRUZE, A MESSAGE FLUSHED IN SCREEN "AC TURNED OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP" AC WAS NOT ON, HEAT WAS NOT WORKING, TURNED OFF BLOWER, THE SCREEN CHANGED TO ENGINE OVERHEATED IDLE ENGINE, THEN CHANGES TO PARTIAL POWER LOSS AND THE CAR BECAME SLUGGISH, I HAD TO CONTINUE DRIVING UNTIL A SAFE PLACE WAS AVAILABLE TO PULL OFF, THEN THE REACTIONS CONTROL LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND MY OIL LIFE INDICATOR TOLD ME TO CHANGE OIL BEFORE RETURNING TO THE PARTIAL POWER LOSS MESSAGE. WHEN DRIVING IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES MY WINDOWS BEGIN TO FOG AND FROST ON THE INSIDE OF ALL 4 WINDOWS, THE REAR WINDOW, AND THE CORNERS OF THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 - 15 MINUTES WITH THE DEFROSTERS BLOWING WARM AIR, THE CAR IS UNABLE TO CLEAR THE FROST. AND BY THEN, THE FROST HAS BUILT UP ENOUGH TO THE POINT TO WHERE I CANNOT SEE OUT OF EITHER DRIVERS OR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THIS CAR WAS BROUGHT TO LUPIENT CHEVROLET IN BLOOMINGTON, MN (WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED 6 MONTHS AGO). IT WAS LOOKED AT FOR A WEEK IN WHICH THE SERVICE MANGER INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM DUE TO THE ENGINE BEING TOO SMALL TO KEEP UP WITH COLD WINTER CONDITIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE COOLANT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. THE TECHNICIAN REPLENISHED THE FLUID, BUT THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY THE NEXT DAY. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V288000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS NOT WORKING. WITH ALL THE FAULTY AIR BAG RECALLS--WHY ISN'T MINE BEING RECALLED? GM WANTS $700 TO REPAIR IT, AND THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. THE ENGINE STALLED AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION, USE TO MY NORMAL POWER AND ALMOST GOT HIT BECAUSE MY CAR WOULDN'T GO OVER 15MPH FLOORED. THEN LOOKED DOWN AND SAW A ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED, SERVICE STABILI TRAK AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. SO I TOOK TO A MECHANIC HE HOOKED IT UP AND THE CODE SHOWED UP AS MY THROTTLE BODY POSITION SENSOR. THEY REPLACED IT AND DROVE IT AND IT DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS. I WAS JUST GOING DOWN THE ROAD THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR DID THE SAME THING. I LOST POWER SO FAST THAT I ABOUT GOT REAR ENDED. TOOK IT BACK TO THE BODY SHOP AND SHOWED THE SAME CODE SO THEY REPLACED THE PART AGAIN. AND TWO DAYS AFTER ALL THIS MY CAR IS DOING THIS AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AT HOW IT LOOSES ENGINE POWER. IT LOOSES IT SO FAST THAT SOMEONE CAN GET HURT EXTREMELY BAD. *TR

OIL LEAKAGE ON TOP OF ENGINE, SMELL OF BURNING OIL, LOUD SOUND OF VEHICLE, CAR MISFIRES. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD AT AROUND 1030PM. I HAD A BLOW OUT ON MY CAR EARLIER ON THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE SO I HAD PUT A DONUT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE ROAD CURVED LEFT AND AS I WAS TRYING TO TURN MY VEHICLE TO GO AROUND THE CURVE OF THE ROAD MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. IT WAS LOCKED IN A STRAIGHT POSITION. I APPLIED MY BRAKES BUT IT WAS TO LATE AND I HIT THE REAR END OF A PARKED SUV ON THE ROAD. I WAS VERY CONFUSED AND I HAD TO TAKE A FIELD SOBRIETY TEST IN WHICH I DID AND I PASSED. I WAS ISSUED A CITATION FOR FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROPER LOOK OUT. WHAT THE HECK IS THAT? I TOLD EVERYONE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THAT I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING IT WOULD NOT TURN FOR ME, I HAVE HAD 2 LOWER BACK SURGERIES, I NEED ANOTHER ONE, I HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH MY NECK WHICH IS GOING TO REQUIRE SURGERY, AT LEAST ONE SURGERY IF NOT MORE. I NEED TO HAVE MY LEFT KNEE RE DONE ALSO. I HAVE BEEN HAVING MAJOR HEADACHES AND MORE PAIN THAN USUAL SINCE THE ACCIDENT. MY LEFT WRIST GOT SCREWED UP ALSO. I COULD OF EASILY KILLED MYSELF. WELL THEN I GET THIS LETTER SAYING THAT THE STEERING WHEEL COULD HAVE FRICTION AND ACTUALLY STICK IN THE STRAIGHT POSITION. THE REASON BEING IS THAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS WORKERS NOT CORRECTLY INSTALLING CRITICAL PARTS ON THE CAR. SO ENGINEERS HAVE CHANGED THE INSTALLATION PROCESSES FOR THE STEERING WHEELS AND TRANSMISSIONS TO MAKE SURE PARTS ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. WELL IT IS A LITTLE TO LATE FOR THAT FOR ME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS HOT AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,200.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEVER EXPERIENCED A FAILURE UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V36000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. WHILE DRIVING THE AC BLOWS COLD AIR THROUGH THE TOP VENTS BUT HOT AIR FROM THE BOTTOM VENT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE AREA ON THE CENTER CONSOLE THAT TOUCHES THE DRIVER'S LEG BECOMES HOT TO TOUCH AND EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE WHILE DRIVING FOR MORE THAN 1 HOUR. THIS AREA SHOULD NOT BE THIS HOT AND SO FAR NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE REASON FOR THE OVERHEATING OF THE CENTER CONSOLE AREA. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS LEFT FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
MY CAR KEEPS SHUTTING OFF WHILE IM DRIVING IT.. IT IS NOW NOT EVEN TURNING ON AT THIS POINT. I TRY TO START IT AND WONT TURNOVER. LAST WEEK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT SPEED 35-40, MY RADIO AND A/C TURNED OFF, THEN THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN, THEN SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I WANT TO ADD HOW EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THIS IS FOR ME (7 MONTHS PREGNANT, AND 2 LITTLE GIRLS IN CAR). I TRIED SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE ELECTRICAL RECALL AND HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED FAR OUT. *TR

I HAD NOTICED THAT MY BRAKES WERE SOFT WHEN STOPPING PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT BUT HAD NO SUCCESS IN DETERMINING THE CAUSE. TWO TIMES NOW, I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP FOR AT LEAST 3-5 SECONDS AFTER I APPLIED COMPLETE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. FORTUNATELY, I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM BEHIND ME AND THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC EITHER TIME. THE BRAKES ARE STILL SOFT ON STOPPING WHILE IN DRIVE. *TR
WHEN A PASSENGER IS SITTING IN THE SIT, THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL READ "OFF". I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR AN AIRBAG FAILURE ON GM FAULT. I DOCUMENTED A VIDEO OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. *TR

WHEN TAKING OFF SOMETIMES IT LAUNCHES FINE LIKE A NORMAL CAR! BUT 40% OF THE TIME IT STALLS OUT, THAN DECIDES TO GO, WHICH HAS CAUSE ME TO ALMOST BE HIT MULTIPLE TIMES. SINCE THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, ITS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AND SHIFTING HARDER AND HARDER. IF THIS KEEPS UP IM GONNA LOSE MY TRANSMISSION WHEN I REALLY NEED IT PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I BOUGHT A CAR TO BE RELIABLE AND SAFE TO DRIVE, NOW I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THE CHANCE IT MAY NOT GO, AS IF ITS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. THE GM DIAGNOSIS WAS IT COULDN'T BE RE CREATED AND NO CODES SO ITS PERFORMING FINE! THIS IS CAUSED ME TO BE SCARED FOR MY LIFE AT TIMES AND MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS DURING DRIVING NOW. TRIED TO TALK TO GM CORP ABOUT IT AND THE SENT ME TO GM DIAGNOSIS TO KNOW WHAT'S WRONG BUT I'VE DONE THIS AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG! HIT A DEER HEAD-ON GOING APPROIXATELY 50 MPH CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED, BUT COULD SMELL THE AIR BAGS AND HEAR THEM IN THE STEERING WHEEL MAKING NOISE. THE CRASH WAS ENOUGH THAT ON STAR WAS ALERTED OF THE CRASH AND CALLED 911. *JS

THIS EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES. WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY 'SERVICE ESP' AND 'SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL' WARNINGS COME ON ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE 'STABILITRAK' LIGHT. THE ENGINE REMAINS RUNNING BUT DOES NOT SUPPLY POWER TO THE WHEELS RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER TO THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED CHEVY DEALER WHO TOLD ME IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. DIDN'T WORK. HAPPENED AGAIN WITHIN A WEEK. THIS SITUATION IS VERY UNSAFE AS THE VEHICLE COULD BE STUCK POWERLESS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN OR A NUMBER OF OTHER DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CAR IS NOT ON GM'S RECALL LIST FOR ANY OF THE ONGOING RECALL ISSUES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE NO DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,749 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.
THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE FROM A STOP TO MOVE AND ALMOST CAUSED A COLLISION. EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND HESITATES AND WHEN IT FINALLY SHIFTS IT SLAMS INTO GEAR. THE MOSTLY OCCURS FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND THEN DURING ACCELERATION. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IS HOW IT IS DESIGNED AND NOTHING IS WRONG. BUT THE PROBLEM JUST KEEPS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. LONGER HESITATIONS AND HARDER SHIFTING. *TR
I HAD MY CAR PARK IN THE FRONT YARD. IT RAIN ON THAT DATE UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING . WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR I NOTICE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE UP UNDER THE DASHBOARD THAT IT WAS SOAK AND WET FROM THE RAIN THAT WE GOT. I DIDN'T LEAVE ANY WINDOWS DOWN. THE ONLY WAY THE WATER COULD OF GOT IN IS THROUGH A LEAK IN THE LINING AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. I NEVER HAD IT REPLACE BEFORE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A CAR THAT YOU DON'T HARDLY RIVE COULD GET FLOODED. WHILE DRIVING 45MILES AN HOUR THE A/C SHUT OFF AND THE SPEED WAS REPLACED BY AN ERROR THAT SHOWED THAT THE A/C WAS SHUTTING DOWN DUE TO ENGINE LEVELS. HOWEVER THE LEVEL WAS NOT HIGH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP HOWEVER THEY ARE UNABLE TO PIN POINT THE PROBLEM OR DETERMINE THE CODE FOR THE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION AND THEREFORE I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME NOTICED THAT THE TEMP GAUGE WAS MOVING AND THEN AS I SLOWED IN TRAFFIC THE GAUGE WENT FROM COOL TO HOT WITHIN SECONDS. WARNING CAME UP ON DASH THAT AC WAS BEING POWERED OFF DUE TO OVERHEATING AND THEN SUDDENLY IT WAS GONE AND THE AC CAME BACK ON AND THE GAUGE DROPPED. WITHIN 10 MINUTES THE SAME WARNING HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID NOT MOVE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ENDED UP BEING THE WATER PUMP WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW AT MCDONALDS AND MY PURSE HIT THE CLUTCH. MY CAR CHANGED GEARS WITH JUST AT A SLIGHT TOUCH. IT HAS DONE THIS BEFORE SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. ALSO MY BACK TIRES NEVER STAY INFLATED. EVERY THREE DAYS I AM USUALLY PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRES. *TR

THE PASSENGER SENSOR IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND GM IS REFUSING TO COVER THE COST SAYING IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THIS WILL CAUSE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. GM IS SAYING IT WILL COST $400 TO FIX WHICH I THINK IS RIDICULOUS. THE CAR HAS NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT AND AN AIRBAG HAS NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. I THINK SAFETY SYSTEMS SUCH AS AIRBAGS THAT HAVE NO MEANS OF WEAR AND TEAR OTHER THAN DEPLOYMENT SHOULD BE MANDATED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO BE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD OF 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. AIRBAGS ARE A SAFETY MEASURE REQUIRED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO BE OF GOOD WORKMANSHIP AND IN GOOD WORKING ORDER FOR A PERIOD MUCH LONGER THAN 3 YEARS. THIS HAPPENED TWICE: I WAS GOING DOWN A MOUNTAIN IN SOUTHWESTERN VA, WHERE I AM FROM, AND IT WAS LIKE THE BRAKES WERE GRABBING. I COULD FEEL IT IN THE BRAKE PEDDLE, STEERING WHEEL, AND FLOOR. THE TURBOCHARGER, DUE TO A FAULTY BEARING AS I AM BEING TOLD BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC HAS CAUSED THE BLADE INSIDE THE TURBOCHARGER TO BECOME UNSTABLE CAUSING IT SLAM AGAINST THE PARTS INSIDE THE CHARGER, THUS CREATING A LOUD WHAT I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE AS PUTTING A PEN IN A METAL FAN BLADE WHILE IT IS SPINNING. I HAVE THE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY STILL ON THE CAR, BUT I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE IN PUBLIC FORUMS WHERE THIS BECOMING A COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE BETWEEN THE MILEAGE RANGES OF 30-60 THOUSAND. 2011 CHEVY CRUZE AFTER RECALL # 12213 FOR BRAKE VACUUM MICRO SWITCH HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THE VEHICLE IS DISPLAYING THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS BEFORE THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE. UNDER COLD START UP CONDITIONS (CAR SITTING OVERT NIGHT) THE BRAKE PETAL IS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS SO BRAKES DO NOT STOP CAR EASILY. THIS IS INTERMITTENT. I HAVE DISCOVERED IF YOU PLACES THE CAR IN NEUTRAL WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING THE BRAKES START WORKING CORRECTLY. SOUNDS LIKE A DESIGN ISSUE TO ME. THE DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE THE PART THAT THE RECALLED MICRO SWITCH GOES INTO. THIS WILL INCLUDE ANOTHER SWITCH. IGNITION SWITCH STICKING HAVE TO MANUALLY TURN IT THE KEY OR IT STAY ON TIRING TO START. *JS
I WAS DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED WHEN MY CAR DIED. I HAD NO BRAKES, POWER STEERING OR ENGINE POWER. I TRIED TO TURN MY KEY TO RESTART THE CAR BUT THE KEY ON MY FOB WAS STUCK, IT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR BACK OR OUT OF THE IGNITION FOR QUITE A WHITE. OFFICE WHERE THEY TOWED THE CAR TO MY LOCALE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR, DUE TO THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. *TR

WHILE CRUISING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, SUDDENLY THE ENGINE STALLS AS IF ALL THE FUEL HAD STOPPED GOING TO IT. AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF STALL AND SLOWING DOWN WHILE PRESSING ON THE GAS ALL THE TIME, IT SUDDENLY BEGAN PICKING UP SPEED AGAIN. HOWEVER, THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LARGE CLOUD OF SMOKE COMING OUT THE REAR OF THE CAR. THIS OCCURRED 4-5 MORE TIMES BEFORE I ARRIVED AT HOME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE DEALER REPORTED THE PROBLEM WOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. THREE WEEKS LATER I GET THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER WHO REPORTED THE ENGINE HAD "BAD PISTONS". APPARENTLY THERE HAD BEEN A NOTICE TO DEALERS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND HOW TO FIX IT. THE DEALER DID PROVIDE A NEW LOANER MALIBU WHILE REPAIRING MY CAR. AT 40,000 MILES AND HAVE TO HAVE THE ENGINE REBUILT DOES NOT ENHANCE CONFIDENCE IN THE NEW GM. *TR
