MY SISTER AND I RENTAL A CAR IT STOP ON THE INTERSTATE,WE WAS STUCK FROM 830PM UNTIL 530AM,NO HELP FROM BUDGET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO PARK BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UPON ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A PARKING SIGN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. UPDATED 10/17/13*LJ
EVEN WITH THE CLUTCH FULLY DEPRESSED, THERE IS OFTEN GRINDING BETWEEN GEARS, ESPECIALLY IN 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS SINCE AT LEAST AROUND 5K MILES AND HAVE TOLD CHEVY ABOUT IT SINCE THEN. THEY REFUSED TO INSPECT IT. ALSO SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY UP A HILL IN 4TH, 5TH, OR 6TH GEAR I WILL SMELL THE CLUTCH. FINALLY AT 65K MILES WHILE DRVING ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE CLUTCH, DRIVING A SMOOTH 65 MPH FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, STARTED SMELLING THE CLUTCH, THEN THE CLUTCH STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD PUSH TO THE FLOOR AND I COULDN'T CHANGE GEARS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CLUTCH MELTED BECAUSE I WAS RIDING THE CLUTCH. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY BLAMED IT ON ME. I WASN'T EVEN USING THE CLUTCH. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND NOBODY WOULD LISTEN TO ME.
AFTER USING THE AIR CONDITIONER, EVEN FOR JUST A COUPLE MINUTES, AND TURNING IT OFF, THE WINDOWS BECOME FOGGED UP AND THE AIR IS VERY STUFFY AND WONT GO AWAY FOR AT LEAST HALF AN HOUR WITH ALL THE WINDOWS OPEN AND AIR BLOWING THROUGH THE SYSTEM.
SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2013, CLUTCH HAS REPEATEDLY SMELLED LIKE BURNING CLUTCH AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN 5TH AND 6TH GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIPS CLAIM THIS IS NORMAL. AT ABOUT 50K MILES WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 60MPH IN 6TH GEAR FOR A PERIOD OF ABOUT 30 MINUTES, I STARTED SMELLING THE CLUTCH BURNING EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T SHIFTING AND DIDN'T HAVE MY FOOT ON THE CLUTCH. WHEN IT CAME TIME TO EXIT THE FREEWAY AND SWITCH GEARS THE CLUTCH WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I COULDN'T SHIFT INTO OTHER GEARS. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BY SHIFTING WHEN THE GEARS SYNCED. THE DEALERSHIP, KEYS CHEVROLET, IN VAN NUYS, TOLD ME I WAS RIDING THE CLUTCH AND CAUSED IT TO MELT AND WOULDN'T LISTEN TO ME ABOUT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. MY LAST VEHICLE WAS A 1997 VW JETTA AND I TOOK THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH TO 157K MILES BEFORE TRADING IN FOR THIS CHEVY AND THE CLUTCH WAS STILL GOOD. I'VE BEEN A VALET FOR YEARS AND AN AUCTION COORDINATOR, I DON'T RIDE THE CLUTCH AND I CAN DRIVE ANY VEHICLE PROFESSIONALLY. THE 2013 CHEVY CRUZE LS HAS PROBLEMS. AFTER LOOKING ON THE CRUZETALK FORUMS, MANY MEMBERS HAVE FOUND THAT THE AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID CHEVROLET PUTS INTO THEIR TRANSMISSIONS, ABOUT 2 QUARTS, IS NOT ENOUGH FOR 5TH AND 6TH GEAR AND THEY RECOMMEND PUTTING IN 2.5 QUARTS. CHEVROLET DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY CAUSED MY CLUTCH TO MELT AND COST ME $1,800 TO FIX IT.
2013 CHEVY CRUZE 1LT WITH THE 1.4 TURBO ENGINE. I HAVE ACTUALLY OWNED TWO OF THESE CARS, THE FIRST WAS A 2011. THE COMPLAINT IS ABOUT BOTH AND I SUSPECT IS THE SAME IN EVERY ONE OF THESE CARS THAT HAVE THE 1.4 TURBO. MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT A POSSIBLE HEALTH HAZARD WITH THESE VEHICLES. THEY EMIT ANTIFREEZE FUMES CONSTANTLY AND GM IS NOW CLAIMING THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE 2011 MODEL I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE SMELL OF HOT ANTIFREEZE EVERY TIME I WOULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE, I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY DONE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO FIX IT WITH NO LUCK. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT TWO YEARS OF DEALING WITH THIS I GOT TIRED OF IT AND TRADED IT OFF FOR A 2013 SAME MODEL. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS STUPID AND WAS BUT MY REASONING WAS THAT I LOVED THE CAR AND THOUGHT THAT SURELY GM HAD CORRECTED THIS ISSUE BY NOW(I WAS VERY WRONG). SHORTLY AFTER MY PURCHASE OF THE 2013 I BEGAN TO SMELL THE ANTIFREEZE AGAIN AND AGAIN BEGAN THE PROCESS WITH GM TO GET IT FIXED BUT AS BEFORE, NO LUCK. FINALLY AFTER FIGHTING WITH IT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS GM HAS CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT THE SMELL IS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THIS VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THEM THE WATER PUMP IS DESIGNED TO LEAK A SMALL AMOUNT AND THE LEAKAGE IS CAUGHT IN A RETENTION CHAMBER BUILT INTO THE WATER PUMP THEM EVAPORATED OUT VIA THE HEAT OF THE ENGINE CAUSING THE CONSTANT SMELL. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT SNIFFING THESE HOT ANTIFREEZE FUMES ALL THE TIME CAN'T BE GOOD FOR YOU AND WILL IN THE LONG TERM CAUSE HEALTH ISSUES. WITH THIS ANSWER I ASK GM TO TAKE THE CAR BACK OR AT LEAST LET ME TRADE IT FOR ANOTHER MODEL BUT THEY ARE UNWILLING TO HELP ME ANY MORE. I HAVE ALWAYS SMELLED SOMETHING STRANGE CIRCULATING IN MY CAR EVER SINCE I FIRST DROVE IT. .MY MOTHER (WHO HAS A 2012 CHEVY CRUISE) WAS RIDING IN MY CAR AND ASKED ME WHAT THE SMELL WAS AND I TOLD HER THAT IT HAS ALWAYS SMELLED LIKE THAT. I REALIZED THAT IT ISN'T A NORMAL SMELL AND REALIZED THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY A ENGINE COOLANT SMELL AND MY BE UNHEALTHY TO BE BREATHING. THE CAR BOGS DOWN IN FIRST GEAR, THIS IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, CAR HAS POOR POWER. THIS ALSO GIVES THE AUTOMATICS POOR POWER. THE SPARK PLUGS ARE NOT GAPPED OUT OF FACTORY. I JOINED CRUZETALK FORUMS AND MANY PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. 2013 CRUZE LS MT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE .028 GAP SPARK PLUGS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM. THEY RETURNED IT IN AN HOUR AND SAID THEY REGAPPED THEM FOR ME. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. I BOUGHT THE TOOLS AND TOOK THEM OUT AND THEY WERE SET TO .025, .021, .023, .025. THE PLUGS ARE WAY OFF MARK AND THE DEALERSHIP LIED. I REGAPPED THEM TO .028 AND THE CAR NEVER RAN BETTER.
I PURCHASED A 2013 CHEVY CRUZE ON MAY 13, 2013 TEST DROVE THE CAR AND BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. SALESPERSON REFERRED IT TO THE MECHANIC. I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT OFF THE CAR LOT. HE SAID HE BLED THE BRAKES AND ALL IS WELL...STILL HAD TROUBLE WITH THE BRAKES AFTER I WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND MY CAR LUNGES FORWARD. I PRESSED ON BRAKES HARDER TO STOP. TOOK CAR BACK ON THE 28TH AND TOLD MECHANIC WHAT HAPPENED AND HE AGAIN CHECKED THE CAR OUT AND SAID HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. HE SAID HE TESTED ANOTHER NEW MODEL AND SAID HE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THAT CAR. THESE MECHANICS ARE IGNORING ANY CONCERN BUYERS HAVE... PUTTING OUR LIVES AND FAMILY MEMBERS IN DANGER. THE ABOVE INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN ON OCCASION AND THE FACT THAT THESE MECHANICS TALK DOWN TO YOU AND MAKE YOU FEEL "PLAIN STUPID" HAS PROMPT ME TO INITIATE THIS COMPLAINT IN HOPES SOMETHING GETS DONE. *TR
WE HAVE A CHEVY CRUZE WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS BEING DONE FOR US. WE TOOK OUR CAR FOR A INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD WE COULD NOT HAVE OUR CAR BACK AS THE SHAFT WAS DAMAGE AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE US OUR CAR FOR SAFETY REASON. THE DEALER KNEW OUR CAR WAS CALLED BACK TWO WEEKS BEFORE AND DID NOT NOTIFY US. IF WE DID NOT TAKE OUR CAR FOR INSPECTION WE WOULD OF NOT KNOWN. RIGHT NOW WE STILL ARE WAITING FOR OUR CAR. THE PART IS NOT MADE YET AND IT WILL BE A MONTH SINCE THEY TOOK IT FROM US. WHAT CAN WE DO. WE ARE STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON SOMETHING WE CANNOT EVEN HAVE EVEN THROUGH WE OWN IT. WE ARE GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM GMC AND ALSO FROM THE DEALER. OUR CAR ONLY HAS LESS THAN 5,000 MILES HELP. *TR

SIMPLY GETTING INTO THE CAR AS GETTING INTO ANY CAR. UNDER PORTION OF DASH SO LOW IT CAUSED ABRASION AND BRUISING TO RIGHT SHIN UPON ENTRY. VERY PAINFUL AND UNNECESSARY. SOME MODIFICATION NEEDS TO BE MADE TO ALLOW FOR A DIMINUTIVE PERSON WITH LONG LEGS TO ENTER CAR SAFELY. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT FIFTEEN MINUTES AGO (9 A.M.) AND I AM STILL REELING FROM THE PAIN OF IT. I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION ON MAY 25. A FEW DAYS LATER, APPROXIMATELY JUNE 1, I NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS VERY HARD TO STOP WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY (HAD TO PUSH DOWN VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES WHICH DID NOT SEEM TO GO TO THE FLOOR). I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS OR BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES THE CAR WOULD LUNGE FORWARD--NOT ENOUGH TO HIT SOMEONE BECAUSE I NOTICED IT AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, JEFF WYLER CHEVROLET EASTGATE, AND ADVISED THEM OF THE PROBLEM. SOMEONE TEST DROVE THE CAR WITH ME IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND HE INFORMED ME THAT HE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I DO NOT KNOW IF HE CHECKED ANYTHING ELSE WHILE I WAS IN THE WAITING ROOM. AT MY REQUEST, HE PROVIDED ME WITH A PRINTOUT DOCUMENTING THE VISIT. ON JULY 7, 2013, WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING THE VEHICLE INTO OUR GARAGE, THE BRAKES FAILED AND SHE HIT MY GRANDDAUGHTER BICYCLE WHICH, IN TURN, WENT THROUGH THE DRYWALL AT THE END OF THE GARAGE. I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN LIVING AT THE HOUSE INCLUDING AN 8 AND 10 YEAR OLD. THERE IS ALSO A SIGN ON OUR STREET INDICATING A DEAF CHILD LIVES ON THE STREET (WE HAVE ONLY LIVED THERE SINCE NOV. 2012). WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE THAT A CHILD HAS NOT BEEN INJURED. THERE IS NO WAY TO ALERT THE DEAF CHILD THAT THE CAR IS COMING THEIR WAY SINCE THEY CANNOT HEAR THE HORN. *TR
WHEN STARTING MY CAR FROM ANY STATIONARY POSITION, 0 MPH (FLAT PARKING, ON A HILL OR AT AN ANGLE) THE STARTER WILL ENGAGE AND CONTINUE TO RUN AND RUN WITHOUT STARTING THE ENGINE. IN ORDER TO START THE CAR, I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND TRY AGAIN. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WILL START (SO FAR). ALSO, WHEN I USE THE AIR CONDITIONER (CAR IN MOTION, ANY SPEED 0-65MPH, ON CITY STREETS AND ON HIGHWAYS) THERE IS A COOLANT SMELL THAT COMES OUT OR THE VENTS. IT IS A STRONG SMELL AND I CANNOT FIGURE OUT A PATTERN FOR WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE THE CAR RUNNING, SOMETIMES WHEN I FIRST TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER AND THEM IT WILL HAPPEN RANDOMLY AS I AM DRIVING AND THE AIR CONDITIONER HAS BEEN ON FOR A WHILE. I HAVE NEVER TRIED TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS WHEN I DON'T HAVE THE ENGINE RUNNING (DON'T KNOW IF THE AIR CONDITIONER CAN RUN WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING).
BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS TOO FAR BEFORE BRAKES ENGAGE. BRAKE PEDAL NEARLY TO FLOOR WHEN STOPPING AT ANY SPEED. DEALER DID NOT RESOLVE PROBLEM, SAID THERE WERE NO SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. DEALER PLACED BRIGHT ORANGE STICKER IN DOORJAM WHICH STATES IF CAR IS IN ACCIDENT TO CALL THEM. I COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP! SEE MANY OTHER POSTS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER REPLACED ON ALL THESE COMPLAINTS OF SOFT BRAKE PEDALS ON NEW CARS. *TR
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (BETWEEN 60 AND 75) THERE IS A "NOTCHY" TUG TO THE STEERING WHEEL. SEEMS TO HAPPEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. HAVE TO GIVE THE WHEEL A LITTLE PRESSURE IN A TURN TO GET IT TO UNLOCK POSITION AND MAKE IT ABLE TO TURN. *TR
ON APRIL 27, 2013, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY CAR I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE GEAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKED IN THE REVERSE SO HARD THAT IF A CAR WAS DIRECTED BEHIND ME PARKED I WOULD HAVE HIT IT AND DAMAGED BOTH CARS. THEN, THE CAR JERKED FORWARD WHEN I SWITCH GEARS TO DRIVE FORWARD AND THEN THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLICKING SOUND. THEN BEFORE THAT! I HAD A PROBLEM ON 4/19/2013 TRYING TO REVERSE INTO ANOTHER PARKING AREA AND THE CAR DID PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THINGS AS IT DID ON APRIL 27TH. ALSO, SOMETIMES WHEN I PRESS ON MY BRAKES, COMING TO A FULL STOP, THE CAR WILL LOUNGE FORWARD WHILE PRESSING ON BRAKE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS OCCURRENCES. I HAVE NOT CONTACT THE DEALER AS OF YET. BUT, I INTEND TOO ASAP. I HAVE ALSO CHECKED FOR ANY RECALLS, AND THERE ARE NONE YET AS OF 2013, BUT THERE ARE A COUPLE OF COMPLAINTS ONLY. 2012 CRUZE HAD SEVERAL AIRBAG, AND ENGINE ISSUES. AFTER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE FOR 660 MILES, I'VE NOTICED THAT THERE'S A GRINDING OR KNOCKING FEELING ON THE ACCELERATOR. I FIRST NOTICED IT WHILE PULLING IT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I FELT A KNOCKING ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT'S NOT WEATHER SENSITIVE AND GIVES THE SAME FEELING REGARDLESS OF SPEED. IT'S NO PREDICTABLE FOR THE KNOCKING FEELING I GET ON THE ACCELERATOR. I DRIVE ON HIGHWAY FOR MUCH OF MY TIME AND NOTICE THE FEELING SIMILAR TO MY OLD CAR WHEN THE BEARINGS STARTED TO GO BAD. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IT'S COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT SIDE. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER AND THEY QUICKLY HAVE LOOKED AT IT AS WELL AS TAKING IT FOR A DRIVE. AFTER CHECKING THE CAR OVER NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE WRONG. IT IS NOW DOCUMENTED WITH THE DEALER. CURRENTLY I HAVE OVER 1K MILES ON IT AND SEEMS TO HAVE GOTTEN WORSE. *TR
I DECIDED TO TRADE IN MY MALIBU AND LEASE A 2013 CRUZE FROM GLOBAL CHEVROLET, RT.22, NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ. IN MARCH OF 2013. I BEGAN NOTICING THE PROBLEM WITHIN A FEW WEEKS. IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD AS YOU ARE SWITCHING FROM THE BRAKE TO THE ACCELERATOR. WHILE BRAKING, THE BRAKES SEEM TO FREEZE UP AND THE CAR KEEPS ROLLING, AT TIMES 20 FEET BEFORE STOPPING. I HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG; "NEW TECHNOLOGY, COMPUTERS, DOWNSHIFTING" IS HOW THEY EXPLAINED IT. I KEEP A LOG IN MY CAR TO RECORD EACH TIME THIS OCCURS, AS IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY DAY. HOWEVER, IT HAPPENS ENOUGH THAT I AM CONCERNED THAT EVENTUALLY THIS SITUATION WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND SERIOUS INJURY. I HAVE SEVERAL INCIDENTS THAT HAVE HAD OCCURRED IN A BRAND NEW 2013 CHEVY CRUZE WITH 7000 WHEN THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED.. 1) THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS TOO FAR BEFORE THE BRAKES ENGAGE. 2) I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND HAD NO BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 3 TIMES FOR THEM TO FIX IT. I HAD TO USE A LOAN CAR FOR 5 DAYS, AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT SEEMED LIKE THEY WOULDN'T BELIEVED WHAT I WAS SAYING. THE TECHNICIAN DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, HE WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT AND HASN'T SOLVED THE ISSUE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN BRAKING. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE HE THOUGHT HE WAS STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT, WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, HE APPARENTLY STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AS WELL AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO MOVE INTO THE INTERSECTION. APPARENTLY, HE APPLIED MORE FORCE TO THE ACCELERATOR, THAN THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RAISED TOO HIGH OFF THE FLOOR.
I LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE. WHILE DRIVING I GET A VERY STRONG ODOR OF ANTI-FREEZE OR MOTOR FUMES THAT ARE INSIDE THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE HEATER FAN IS ON OR OFF, THE ODOR STILL GETS INSIDE THE CAR. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND WAS FIRST TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED THE INSIDE CAB FILTER, WHICH ISN'T COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, AND IT STILL SMELLS. MY COMMUTE TO WORK IS 1 HOUR AND WITHIN 10 MILES I HAVE BEEN GETTING SICK TO MY STOMACH AND HEADACHES. GM TELLS THEM ALL THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS BUT YOU TUBE VIDEOS SHOW GAUGES AND RADIOS CUTTING OUT WHEN DRIVING. SOME VIDEOS DESCRIBE CARS SHUTTING DOWN WHEN DRIVING AND NOT RESTARTING. OTHERS HAVE SERVICE MESSAGES APPEARING ON THE INFORMATION SCREEN AND THE DEALERS FIND NOTHING WRONG. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 90 MILES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING BECOMES "NOTCHY". MINOR STEERING CORRECTIONS BECOME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE SINCE THE STEERING WHEEL WILL ONLY MOVE IN FINITE INCREMENTS SO DRIVING THE CAR BECOMES DIFFICULT, EVEN DANGEROUS SINCE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO POSITION IT PROPERLY IN THE TRAFFIC LANE. WEATHER OR TEMPERATURE DOES NOT SEEM TO AFFECT THE PROBLEM. THE CAR STEERS PROPERLY ON SHORT TRIPS BUT ON A REGULAR, WEEKLY TRIP I MAKE, THE PROBLEM ALWAYS OCCURS AFTER ABOUT 90 MILES. AFTER THE CAR IS STOPPED (AT THE 130 MILE MARK) FOR A COUPLE HOURS, THE PROBLEM DOES NOT REOCCUR AT START-UP. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM--BUT HASN'T DRIVEN THE CAR FOR MORE THAN A MILE OR SO.

THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. TESTED THE CAR AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT WAS SUGGESTED, TACTFULLY, THAT PERHAPS I WASN'T SHIFTING CORRECTLY. I AM ALMOST 66 YEARS OLD I LEARNED TO DRIVE A CAR ON A THREE-THE-TREE FORD. I HAVE OWNED ONLY ONE AUTOMATIC CAR IN MY LIFE, AND THAT WAS FOR FOUR YEARS. I REALLY DON'T THINK I AM TO BLAME. AS THE GM IGNITION SWITCH CAME TO LIGHT I BEGAN TO WONDER. OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS GM HAS EXPANDED ITS RECALL INTO MORE RECENT MODEL YEARS. THE STEERING DOES NOT FEEL STABLE. AT VARIOUS TIMES MOSTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING FEELS AS THOUGH THERE IS NO CONNECTION FOR A SPLIT SECOND WITH THE TIE ROD THAT CONTROLS THE STEERING. THE CAR WILL ACTUALLY PULL SLIGHTLY AND REQUIRE CORRECTION FROM TIME TO TIME. THE PULL CAN BE EITHER TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT AND NOT RELATED TO ANY POSSIBLE WIND. THE CAR HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER MARCH 14, 2013, WITH NO CHANGE IN THIS SITUATION. THE FEELING IS SIMILAR TO DRIVING SOME OF THE OLD JUNKS FROM DAYS GONE BY BACK IN THE 60'S WHERE THE STEERING WAS LOOSE AND REQUIRED BOTH HANDS FIRMLY ON THE WHEEL AND CONSTANT CORRECTION GOING DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
