HAVE TO WIGGLE KEY WHEN TAKING IT OUT OF IGNITION OR IT WILL GET STUCK. STARTING DOING THIS SHORTLY AFTER BUYING IT IN 2005. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE STEERING. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY. DEALER BLAMED THE FAILURE ON ICE IN THE WHEEL WELL. THEN THE TROUBLE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT YET BEEN FIXED PROPERLY. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T START. THE DEALER CLEANED THE CONNECTOR, HOWEVER THE COMPUTER DID NOT PICK UP ANY DIAGNOSTIC HISTORY, EVEN THOUGH THE TROUBLE LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON QUITE CONSISTENTLY. ON FEB 25, 2006 THE CONSUMER ONCE AGAIN LOST STEERING, BUT REGAINED IT AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE. AT THAT TIME THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE TROUBLE LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON AND ONCE AGAIN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT BY PUSHING ON THE FUSE BOX, THE VEHICLE WOULD START AND STEER. ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE CONSUMER BECAME STRANDED, THE DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START, BUT THE HORN WORKED. THE CONSUMER LET THE VEHICLE SIT OVERNIGHT AND WHEN SHE CAME BACK, THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK, SHE OPENED THE DOOR MANUALLY AND POUNDED ON THE FUSE BOX, AND THE VEHICLE STARTED UP. THE SECOND TIME THE CONSUMER BECAME STUCK, POUNDING ON THE FUSE BOX DID NOT WORK AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T START, EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY WAS FINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND FOR THE SECOND TIME, THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. AS SOON AS THE CONSUMER LEFT THE DEALER THE TROUBLE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING CONTINUES TO GO OUT A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE RESUME BUTTON FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK PROPERLY. *JB
BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX. BAD ODOR COMING FROM VENTS. DEX COOL IS CORRODING COOLING SYSTEM, AND ENGINE. 17,000 MILES HAVE HAD IT IN 3 TIMES FOR ENTIRE COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH... STILL IS UN BEARABLE. BE AWARE THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. CONSEQUENCE- AFTER EXTENDED DRIVE (GREATER THAN 30 MINUTES) RESULTS IN LIGHT-HEADEDNESS, HEADACHE, OR WATERY BURNING EYES. IT LEAVES A FILM OF ANTIFREEZE VAPOR ON THE WINDSHIELD, ON THE INSIDE. GM DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS VEHICLE INOPERABLE. GO FIGURE. GM HAS DONE LITTLE TO SATISFY OUR NEEDS, THEY PAY FOR NEW HOSES AND FLUSH- WHICH OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T WORK. 900 DOLLARS A POP, FOR THE SAME RESULT. PARTS REPAIRED: 5 HOSES (ALL OF THEM) 3X, DEX-COOL 3X. SAFETY IS SOMETHING THEY STRIVE FOR AT GM, WHAT HAPPENED? *NM
MAP LIGHT LEAKS, FILLED WITH WATER ROTORS REPLACED AT 12,000 MILES ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN HOT WEATHER POPPING AND RATTLING NOISE FRONT END STEREO SPEAKER INTERMITTENT BUZZING NOISE WHEN RADIO NOT ON TIME DISPLAY DOESN'T ALWAYS LIGHT UP NOT NOTIFIED OF PRODUCT EMISSION RECALL BY MANUFACTURER. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE VEHICLE PRODUCED A HUMMING NOISE WHEN STARTED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN 2005 IT PRODUCED THE SAME NOISE. HOWEVER, THE SALES PERSON ASSURED THE CONTACT THAT THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE WAS ONLY THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LONGER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN THE LOUDER THE NOISE BECAME. THE CONTACT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT VEHICLES WERE SUBJECT TO MALFUNCTION OCCASIONALLY. ALSO, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS THAT WERE NEEDED. THE CONTACT THEN BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS WERE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE ,AND THAT THE ENTIRE WHEEL AS LIABLE TO DETACH AND CAUSE A CRASH. THE TIRES WERE EXAMINED AND DETERMINED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. *AK
DRIVING DOWN STREET CUT OFF BY SEMI RAN INTO FLASHING SIGN WITH NOWHERE ELSE TO GO. OVER HALF PASSENGER FRONT BUMPER WAS CRUSHED RADIATOR SMASHED, WHOLE FRONT PASSENGER QUARTER SMASHED. CAR WAS UNDRIVEABLE BUT AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF. *TR
POOR MILEAGE. SUV HAS 4000 MILES AND HAS BEEN INTO DEALER FOR 2 TSB'S FROM MANUFACTURER TO CORRECT TRANSMISSION & ODOMETER BOTH TO HELP MILEAGE. SUV STILL GET ONLY 19 HIGHWAY/17 CITY WHICH IS WELL BELOW ADVERTISED RANGE OF 25 CITY/19 CITY. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING, IT DID NOT STALL. IT RESTARTED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE PARK/NEUTRAL SWITCH. THE VEHICLE HAD THE PROBLEM TWO MORE TIMES. ALSO, THERE WAS VIBRATION WHEN REVERSING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM ,AND NO FURTHER REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK THE TRANSMISSION. UPDATED 01/04/06. *JB
DECEPTIVE MILEAGE INFORMATION. VEHICLE ONLY GETS 13 TO 17 MILES PER GALLON. LESS THAN THAT CHEVY TAHOE THAT I TRADED IN TO SAVE GAS. THIS IS DECEPTIVE SALES TACTICS DURING A TIME WHEN MOST PEOPLE ARE SHOPPING FOR VEHICLES WITH ACCEPTABLE GAS MILEAGE. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ILLEGAL, AT THE LEAST IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING. *NM
2005 CHEVY EQUINOX AWD, 3 STARTERS, 3 COOLANT TANKS, ALL COOLANT HOSES CHANGED, HEATER CHANGED TWICE, A PILLAR PANELS LEAKED AIR, RADIATOR REPLACED, BATTERY BOLT REPLACED, REAR SHELF BROKE, CONSTANT COOLANT SMELL IN CAR, MADE WIFE SICK, HAD CAR 5 MONTHS APPROX, SPEND AROUND 90 + DAYS IN SHOP, DEALER DID ALL THEY COULD, BUT G.M. REFUSED TO WORK ON CAR UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE, G.M. " FORCED " TO BUY BACK UNDER LEMON LAW, BOUGHT TOYOTA, PERIOD. HAVE ALL RECEIPTS AND PAPER WORK FOR ANYBODY INTERESTED. *JB
WHEN UNBUCKLING THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT MY GRANDSON SOMEHOW GOT IT AROUND HIS WAIST. IT RETRACTED SO QUICKLY THAT WE COULD NOT FREE HIM FROM IT. AS WE WOULD PULL ON IT TO TRY TO GIVE HIM BREATHING ROOM, IT WOULD PULL TIGHTER. HE WAS BECOMING UNABLE TO SPEAK & BREATHE. SOMEONE CAME OUT WITH A KNIFE AND WE WERE ABLE TO CUT THE BELT. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY GAVE ME LINKS TO PROPER SEAT BELT USE & CHILD RESTRAINT. *NM
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES A RUMBLING AND LITERALLY MOVES UNDER THE HOOD AS IF IT WON'T START, BUT IT DOES. IT HAS AN AFFECT OF A STRAIGHT DRIVE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE WHILE IT'S IN GEAR. *NM
PURCHASED 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX ON MAY 26 2005 HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALER 5 TIMES IN THE PAST 47 DAYS 1ST THE SUNROOF STOPPED WORKING, THEN THE TRANSAXLE OVERHEATING LIGHT CAME ON GOT THOSE "REPAIRED" DIDN'T GET OFF THE DEALERS LOT AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN THEY CHANGED SENSOR BROUGHT IT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD THEY FOUND A CHAFFED WIRE IN THE MAIN HARNESS YESTERDAY I HAD IT TOWED IN AFTER ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON FELT LIKE WHEELS DIDN'T WANT TO TURN AND ON HILLS HAD NO POWER TO CLIMB I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF PA WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVY
THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS COING ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CLAIM THAT IT WAS A COMPUTER CODE THAT NEEDED UPDATING. THE LIGHT CAMET ON AGAIN, THEY CLAIM THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. LIGHT ON AGAIN (3RD TIME) TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT CHEVY DEALERSHIP, APPARENTLY THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON BECAUSE IT WAS READING THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS RUNNING LOW. ONCE REPLACED, IT HAS NOT GONE ON AGAIN. IT TOOK 3 TIMES & 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *JB
TOOK IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND LUBE TECH AT DEALER SUGGESTED TAKE IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO DISCOLORATION OF ANTIFREEZE, TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISOR THIS WAS OKAY AND NOT TO WORRY. SECOND OIL CHANGE SAME ISSUES, FINALLY HAVE APPOINTMENT TO HOPEFULLY CORRECT,POOR GAS MILEAGE, ERRATIC SHIFTING, GAS CAP THAT WILL NOT STAY ON,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK, AND ONLY 8300 HUNDRED MILES ON VEHICLE. WILL HAVE HARD TIME BUYING ANOTHER CHEVORLET AGAIN. *JB
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX THE MUFFLER SYSTEM IS VERY LOUD AND NEEDS REPLACED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. EVEN THE GARAGE MANAGER AGREES THAT IT IS TO LOUD.
DT: UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION, WHILE PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. IN ORDER TO STOP THE ACCELERATOR VEHICLE HAD TO BE SHUT DOWN. OWNER WAS DRIVING AT 50 MPH, AND WAS TRYING TO GET TO 65 MPH IN ORDER PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT 75 MPH OWNER HAD TO STOP VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN UNDESIRED SPEED IN THE LEFT LANE. THE OWNER STILL HAD CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT THIS POINT. OWNER CALLED CHEVEROLET TO HAVE VEHICLE CHECKED. *AK
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN FIXED, HOWEVER ONE REMAINS. THERE IS A POPPING NOISE, COMING FROM THE BACK END, RESULTING IN MANY POPS IN A SERIES, AND THEN IT WON'T DO IT AGAIN. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER A COLD START AND DRIVING IT FOR A COUPLE MINUTES THEN COMING TO A STOP. HOWEVER IT HAS HAPPENED IMMEDIATELY AT START UP AND DURING THE COURSE OF DRIVING FOR THE FIRST COUPLE MINUTES.*JB
THE LIFTGATE SUPPORT ROD DETACHED WHILE IN THE UP POSITION ALLOWING THE LIFTGATE TO FALL FREELY ON MY HEAD AND NECK. IF I WAS IN ANOTHER POSITION OR IF I DIDN'T REACT QUICKLY I MIGHT HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. IT SEEMS THE LIFTGATE SUPPORTS ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH OR ATTACHED PROPERLY. THE OTHER SUPPORT ROD DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH STRENGTH TO HOLD THE DOOR UP.
DT: CALLER SAID IN WET WEATHER THE BRAKES MADE A RATTLING NOISE AND THEN FAILED. IN DRY WEATHER WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND HITTING THE BRAKE THE FRONT END SHOOK. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. CALLER WILL HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER TODAY. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED ON MAY 14, 2005 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, AND TO CHECK ON A NOISE THEY COULD HEAR COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ON SEPTEMBER 19 2005 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THIS NOISE. A TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND HEARD THE NOISE , AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE FRONT STRUTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE REPAIRS THE VEHICLE WAS STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME NOISE PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK ON A THIRD OCCASION O ON OCTOBER 14, 2005. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH DRUM MODULE, THE FILTERS, AND THE POWER TRAIN DRIVE LINE WAS LUBRICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND IT EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
WAS WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN VEHICLE LURCHED(JUMPED FORWARD) HITTING CAR IN FRONT OF ME, CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, HAD BEEN STOPPED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WHEN CAR WENT FORWARD. NO ONE WAS INJURED BUT COULD BE A PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE

I PURCHASED A CHEVY EQUINOX IN 2004, SINCE I GOT IT, I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR 3 TIMES TO SERVICE FOR THE CD CHANGER, AND ONCE I TOOK IT TO CHECK THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT AND A REALLY STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING, BUT WHAT REALLY CONCERNS ME IS THAT ON MAY 2005 I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT DUE TO MY STEERING WHEEL, GOT LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 60-65 MPH IN A HIGHWAY, PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT TURNED ON, AND A FEW MINUTES LATER THE OIL SERVICE LIGHT TOO, I TRIED TO AVOID IMPACTING ANY OTHER VEHICLE AROUND ME BUT I COULDN'T. THE TWO TIRES FROM THE PASSENGER RIGHT SIDE CAME OUT OF THE RIMS, THE TIRE FROM THE DRIVERS REAR SIDE CAME COMPLETELY OUT OF PLACE. THE STRANGE THING IS THAT THE IMPACT WAS IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BY THE HANDLES, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE WHOLE CAR WAS PUT IN A TWO STORY BUILDING AND HAD BEEN THROW DOWN FROM IT, BECAUSE IT DIDN'T SUPPORT THE COLLISION. THEY ARE STILL INVESTIGATING THIS INCIDENT. THEY ESTIMATED THE DAMAGES IN ALMOST $8,000.00
2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AFTER BEING HIT IN THE REAR WHILE STOPPED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT ENGAGE.*MR THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SOME INJURIES WHEN HE WAS PUSHED FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND DASH. *NM
DT: THE TAILGATE COLLAPSED DUE TO THE LEFT STRUT NOT PROVIDING ENOUGH LIFT. THE TAILGATE STAYED UP FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN CAME DOWN RAPIDLY ON MY HUSBAND'S HAND.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND WAS PLACED IN DRIVE, HOWEVER IT DID NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. ALSO, THE VEHICLE SHOOK WHILE DRIVING OVER 60 MPH AND WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TIRES TWICE, ROTATED, AND BALANCED THE TIRES IN AN EFFORT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO REPLACED THE RIMS, WHEELS, AND HUBS, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. IN ADDITION, THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT FELL OFF THE BRACKET WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPDATED10/04/06. *JB
WHEN STARTING VEHICLE, ENGINE WOULD CONTINUALLY ROLL OVER UNTIL STARTING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP UNDER WARRANTY MANY TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT I WAS HOLDING THE KEY TOO LONG IN THE START POSITION. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES AND HAVE BEEN LICENSED FOR OVER 15 YEARS, NEVER HAPPENED WITH ANY OTHER CAR. NOW 5 YEARS LATER, WITH ONLY 65K MILES, IT STILL ROLLS OVER BUT DOESN'T START. I HAVE TO TRY AGAIN AND PUMP THE GAS A FEW TIMES TO GET IT TO START. *TR
2005 EQUINOX , ISSUE WITH IGNITION. STARTS NORMALLY AFTER TWO OR THREE TRIES. KEY STICKS IN IGNITION SWITCH, ON SECOND KEY NOW. HAVE TO ORDER A THIRD KEY FOR WHEN THE ONE I AM USING WEARS OUT. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO CERTIFIED SERVICE STATION THEY COULD NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG UNTIL IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THEN THE SAY I NEED A NEW SHIFTER WHICH IS OVER $500 TO REPLACE. ISSUES WITH BRAKES AND ROTORS... NO ON E CAN SEEM TO REPLACE THEM WITHOUT THE VEHICLE MAKING A NOISE WHEN TRYING TO STOP AND WHILE DRIVING, EVER THE CERTIFIED GM SERVICE CENTER. ISSUE STARTED EARLY 2005 APPROS 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. *TR
THERE IS A BAD SMELL COMING FROM THE AIR VENTS. FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS MOLD IN THE COOLING SYSTEM. THERE ARE MANY MANY OTHER THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN WRONG WITH MY CAR. THEY HAVE HAD 3 ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT. I HAVE A DR. STATEMENT THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF MY ASTHMA AND OTHER MEDICAL PROBLEMS. THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 8 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN APRIL FOR MANY THINGS. BUT 3 TIMES FOR THE SMELL AND 3 TIMES FOR THE BRAKES AND NETHER HAVE BEEN FIXED. *JB
TOOK DELIVERY O '05 EQUINOX IN JUNE OF '04. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR I BEGAN HAVING AN ODOR OF COOLANT IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. HAD COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSHED AND TANK CLEANED OUT IN APRIL OF '05. THIS WAS APPARENTLY BEFORE A TSB WAS ISSUED FOR THE PROBLEM. IN MARCH OF '06 I HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS TIME THEY HAD A TSB FOR IT AND CHANGED THE HOSES AND COOLANT UNDER WARRANTY. AGAIN IN JULY OF '06 DEALER REPLACED THE TANK AND COOLANT DUE TO COOLANT GELLING IN TANK. IN AUGUST OF '06 WITH 35,557 MILES ON THE CAR (JUST UNDER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY THERE WAS AGAIN THE SMELL ACCOMPANIED BY OVERHEATING. DEALER FOUND LEAKS IN THE FRONT AND REAR HEAD GASKET. JUST BARELY GOT THIS JOB IN UNDER WARRANTY! WITHIN WEEKS I WAS BACK AT THE DEALER FOR A HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS WITH THE PROBLEM OF THE HEAD GASKET. (WHY DIDN'T THEY CHECK THIS WHEN THEY WERE DOING THE HEAD GASKET IF THAT WAS THE CASE?) ANYWAY I WAS BACK TO THE DEALER BY DECEMBER DUE TO THE SOUND OF AIR IN THE SYSTEM AFTER THE HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT. THEY FOUND A LEAK BETWEEN THE TRANNY AND THE BACK OF THE BLOCK. THEY REPLACED THE METAL HEATER O-RING THAT WAS LEAKING. I NEVER ASKED FOR ANY OF THE OLD PARTS FROM THE DEALER. I RECENTLY HAD THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC (NOT THE DEALER) BECAUSE OF THE SMELL OF COOLANT IN THE CABIN AND THE SOUND OF WATER RUSHING/AIR IN THE SYSTEM. HE TOLD ME THERE IS A TSB FOR HTH PROBLEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO FLUSH THE SYSTEM AND CHANGE ALL THE HOSES. THAT WAS THE END OF MARCH AND I WAS SAVING $ FOR THE JOB. THIS WEEK MY CAR OVERHEATED ALL THE WAY TO THE RED AND WHEN I CHECKED THE RESERVOIR IT WAS EMPTY. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE OR FLUSH THE COOLANT SYSTEM EVERY FEW MONTHS OR YEAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO LAST MUCH LONGER. IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE ON A REMEDY FOR THE SITUATION I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE WHICH I HAVE NOT LISTED HERE. *TR
I HAVE WENT THROUGH 3 WHEEL BEARINGS, 2 CARRIER BEARINGS WHICH TOOK 3 WEEKS TO GET FROM DEALER SO CAR WAS LAID UP., 2 STABILIZER BARS, ALL WIRING WAS CORRODED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, BATTERY GOES DEAD IF DOOR IS OPEN FOR 15 MINUTES. THE CONSUMER STATED HIS WIFE DROVE ABOUT 15 MILES, AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FRONT HEAD REST BEING TILTED SO FAR FORWARD THAT THE SEAT HAD TO BE LEANED FAR BACK JUST TO BE COMFORTABLE. CAUSED PAIN IN THE NECK AND SHOULDERS. WORRIED THAT THE DEFECT COULD CAUSE NECK INJURY. I OWN A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LT. I PURCHASED IT IN MARCH OF 2005 AND HAVE BEEN THE FIRST AND ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. SINCE APRIL 2005 THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD TROUBLE STARTING. I COULD TURN THE KEY TO START THE IGNITION AND IT WOULD STUTTER AND TURN OFF ALL THE WAY. SOMETIMES I COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE STARTED AFTER SEVERAL TRIES UNLESS I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL WHILE TURNING THE IGNITION KEY. I HAD IT LOOKED AT BY THE CHEVROLET DEALER BUT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND AT THE TIME OF TURNING ON THE VEHICLE AT THE CAR DEALER TO TRY TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM THE CAR TURNED ON WITHOUT ANY STUTTERING. THESE PROBLEMS PERSISTED EVEN AFTER HAVING REPLACED THE STARTER AND BATTERY. THE DEALER COULD NOT OFFER ANYMORE EXPLANATIONS OR SUGGESTIONS. ADDITIONALLY THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE CAR IS ON AND WHILE DRIVING.THE KEY CANNOT ALWAYS BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SMOOTHLY. SOMETIMES IT GETS STUCK HALFWAY OUT AND IT TAKES SOME MANEUVERING OF THE KEY TO REMOVE IT COMPLETELY. NOW THE KEY WILL NOT TURN AT ALL IN THE IGNITION WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE. ON LONG HIGHWAY TRIPS WITH STEEP INCLINES, OBDS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN STOPPING, AND TRYING TO REGAIN SPEED, CAR LOST POWER TO MOVE FORWARD. WHEN ENGINE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT EXTINQUISED, OBDS LIGHT REMAINED.WHEN CAR COOLED OFF, NO LIGHT REMAINED. FIRST TIME DID NOT BRING TO DEALER. SECOND TIME LEFT CAR RUNNING. DEALER SAID FIXED PROBLEM. PROBLEM REGISTERED ON COMPUTER AS P0741. DEALER DID NOT MENTION OF PREVIOUS COMPUTER REGISTRATION OF FIRST TIME INCIDENT. WITHIN 6 DAYS, STRANDED ON NEXT LONG DISTANCE TRIP WITH STEEP INCLINE,AND WAS TOWED TO NEXT DEALER. PROBLEM REGISTERS ON COMPUTER WITH CODE P 0741, COVERED BY BULLETIN 020730-013D. RECEIVED THREE DIFFERENT EXPLAINATIONS OF PROBLEM. VALVE BODY WAS REPLACED. WITHIN ONE WEEK SAME PROBLEM, WHEN DRIVING SLOW SPEED ON COUNTRY ROADS WITH STEEP INCLINES, HOWEVER DID NOT SHOW ON COMPUTER AGAIN. TURNED CAR OFF LET IT COOL DOWN AND WORKED FINE.
MY 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX TENDS TO STALL. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE TC LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WITH A DOWN ARROW COMES ON. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER IT RAINS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND THE FIRST TIME THEY JUST RESET THE COMPUTER. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID IT WAS A LEAK IN THE SUNROOF THAT LEAKS DOWN TO THE COMPUTER WIRES. THIS IS A CHEVY PROBLEM FROM THE DAY WE BOUGHT THE CAR. NOW THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND IT WILL COST TOO MUCH TO FIX. USUALLY I CAN TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND TURN IT BACK ON AND IT FIXES IT SELF, BUT SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT TILL IT STOPS RAINING AND LET THE CAR DRY OUT. NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON, AND STALLS OFTEN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSE IT MAKES THE ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING NO MATTER WHAT THE SPEED. I HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, AND COULD CAUSE A WRECK IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS. *TR
AT APROX 135K MILES, THE STRUTS WENT BAD. I ASSUMED THIS WAS SOMETHING NORMAL CONSIDERING THE MILEAGE HOWEVER THE MECHANIC SAID THIS WAS HIGHLY UNUSUAL. COST TO REPAIR $600. *TR
WINDHIELD PRESENTED A STRESS CRACK - DEALERSHIP REPAIRED. TWO WEEKS LATER, ANOTHER CRACK APPEARED ON NEW WINDSHIELD, DEALER STATED WINDSHIED CRACK WAS NOT A STRESS CRACK, JUST A COINCIDENCE. DEALERSHIP ALSO NOTED WINDSHIELD WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO REPLACE.*AK
VERY ERRATIC STEERING WHEN CHANGING LANES AT 50 MPH CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A GRASSY DITCH. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME I NOTICED THE STEERING WAS VERY DIFFERENT THEN I HAVE EVER FELT. AFTER HITTING THE DITCH THE CAR ROLLED. REMARKABLY, I WAS NOT INJURED AND BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND MY SEAT BELT KEPT ME FROM INJURY. THERE WASN'T ANY BROKEN GLASS. THE CAR HELD UP TO THE 5 STAR SAFETY. MY CONCERN IS THE BOBBLE EFFECT WHEN CHANGING LANES AND THE TOO TIGHT STEERING. FORTUNATELY, NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED. MY EQUINOX SUFFERED ABOUT $10500 DAMAGE. $4500 WERE FOR THE AIRBAGS AND RELATED PARTS. MY CAR IS STILL IN GETTING FIXED. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE STEERING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I WILL NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN DRIVING THIS ON THE HIGHWAY.*AK
DT:CONSUMER HAS BEEN TOLD BY DEALER THAT VEHICLE HAD EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE IN THE STEERING SHAFT. THIS CAUSED A BANGING NOISE WHEN VEHICLE WAS JARRED, AND LOOSE STEERING. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER THAT THERE WERE EIGHT PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEM THAT WERE ON WAITING LIST TO HAVE PROBLEM REPAIRED AT THIS DEALERSHIP. *AK
FOUL ODOR IN CABIN COMING FROM HEATER, ALSO SMELL IS NOTICABLE OUTSIDE THE CAR. CHECKED THE COOLANT AND IT IS DARK BROWN AND HAS A STRONG FOUL ODOR. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GET ANYWHERE NEAR THE MILEAGE PER GALLON THAT GM STATES IT SHOULD GET OF 19 AND 25. LUCKY IF IT GET 13MPG CITY AND 15 HIGHWAY.*AK

THE PROBLEMS ARE: 1) FOUL ODOR, HOSES FOR ANTI-FREEZE SYSTEM REPLACED PER BULLETIN; 2) REAR SQUEAKING, LUBED SAME; 3) TRANSMISSION. I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT BRAKES, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPROGRAMMED, AND THAT IT WOULD CONTINUE TO ADJUST ITSELF ACCORDING TO DRIVING CONDITIONS/ EACH DRIVER'S HABITS, AND 4) POPPING NOISE HEARD WHEN STARTING OR WHEN STOPPED WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. NOISE SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM GAS TANK AREA. ASKED FOR FUEL LINE/EXHAUST SYSTEM TO BE CHECKED. AS OF THIS TIME REPAIR CENTER CANNOT DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM, AND HAVE NO IDEAS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND A TOTAL OF 6 DAYS. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS IN LIMBO AS THEY ARE 'LOOKING INTO IT' AND WILL CALL ME BACK.*AK
