WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP BRAKES FAILED. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE CRASHED INTO FOUR OTHER VEHICLES. UPON IMPACT,EST DUAL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY TO IT'S FULL CAPACITY. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. *AK........THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS ONLY AFTER THE EQUINOX MADE CONTACT WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED TO THE STREET AFTER IMPACT, THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS NOT STRUCK FROM BEHIND. THE RIGHT WHEEL ON PASSENGER'S SIDE CAME OFF. ALSO, THE SHERIFF ON THE SCENE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS NO BRAKE PEDAL AFTER THERE WAS ACCESS TO THE VEHICLE.*AK
2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING.*MR THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH VARIABLE STEERING. IT WAS THE CONSUMER'S UNDERSTANDING THAT WITH VARIABLE STEERING, THE STEERING WAS LOOSER DURING CITY DRIVING AND WOULD BECOME TIGHTER DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE CONSUEMR FEELS THAT THE STEERING WAS TOO LOOSE, THAT THE VEHICLE WANDERED AND PULLED TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING. *NM
COOLING SYSTEM PROBLEMS, FOUL SMELL, FLUID IS A DARK COLOR WHEN IT SHOULD BE LIGHT PINK. PROBLEM WAS FIRST POINTED OUT AT 2ND OIL CHANGE APPOINTMENT. THEY ADVISED THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM WAS MALEFUNCTIONING AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS FIXED. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN 3 OTHER EQUINOX'S ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. UPON CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS NOT A MALEFUNCTION, THEY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. APPOINTMENT IS SCHEDULED IN A COUPLE DAYS. UPON READING MORE ABOUT THIS COOLING SYSTEM PROBLEM I AM EVEN MORE CONCERNED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS YET TO BE A RECALL AND ALL OF THE VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
DT: WATER WAS LEAKING INTO CAB OF VEHICLE AND INTO TRUNK. WATER LEAK IWAS IN FRONT DOME LIGHT, AND IT LEAKED TWICE. THE MIDDLE DOME LIGHT LEAKED ONCE, AND THE TRUNK HAS HAD A BIG BUCKET OF WATER REMOVED FROM IT. DEALER TRIED TO FIX LEAK, BUT IT STILL LEAKS. CALLER WAS TOLD NOT TO PARK UNDER TREES. MANUFACTURER SAID THEY WOULD CALL DEALER, AND TOLD CALLER TO KEEP SUN ,ROOF CLOSED AND THAT THERE WAS DEBRIS IN SUN ROOF. CALLER STATED SHE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT WATER IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AND THAT MORE DAMAGE CAN BE CAUSED.*AK
ON EACH SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD THE SNOW WAS CLEANED OFF. HOWEVER, THE SNOW FROM THE ROOF FELL OFF ONTO THE WINDSHIELD AND WAS TRAPPED IN THE WINDSHIELD PILLARS. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE HE WAS BLINDED. *AK
SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE, THERE HAS BEEN A STRONG ODOR IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR. I NOTICED THE COOLANT HAS CHANGED FROM PINK TO BLACK WITH SLUDGE FLOATING IN IT. I AM ALSO GETTING FAR LESS AVERAGE GAS MILEAGE THAN WAS LISTED. I AM AVERAGING LESS THAN 17 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. NOT CLOSE TO THE 25 THAT IS ADVERTISED. WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THAT THE SMELL AND OTHER COOLANT ISSUES IS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE (05 CHEVROLET EQUINOX). WITH THE HEAT ON AND WINDOWS UP, THE CAR IS ALMOST UNDRIVABLE DUE TO THE SMELL. *AK
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. AFTER ONLY 500 MILES THE ENGINE COOLANT HAS TURNED BROWN AND HAS A VERY BAD ODOR (STINKS). WHEN THE HEATER IS TURNED ON, THE ODOR COMES INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND IS ALMOST INTOLERABLE.*AK
THIS IS A CORRECTION TO THE COMPLAINT I SUBMITTED YESTERDAY. THE COMPLAINT NUMBER IS 10100295. ON THAT COMPLAINT PLEASE DELETE THE PART OF THE COMPLAINT THAT SAYS THE ABNORMAL ODOR FROM THE ENGINE COOLANT IS ENTERING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. I FOUND THAT THE COOLANT RESERVOIR CAP WAS LOOSE, ALLOWING THE STRONG ODOR OF THE COOLANT TO ESCAPE AND BE DRAWN INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. WHEN I TIGHTENED THE CAP THE ODOR STOPPED ENTERING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I AM STILL VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE ABNORMAL ODOR AND COLOR OF THE COOLANT. THIS COULD BE ADVERSELY AFFECTING COMPONENTS OF THE COOLING SYSTEM AND ENGINE. *JB
MY 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX HAS REOCCRUING PROBLEMS WITH 1) THE ENGINE COOLANT TURNING FROM THE NORMAL DEX COOL PINK COLOR TO A DARK BROWN / BLACK COLOR. 2) HORRIBLE SMELL ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING THE HEAT IS ON.THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON NOVEMBER 18TH AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, GM'S TECHNICAL LINE IS INSTRUCTING ALL SERVICE DEPARTMENTS TO TAKE NO REPAIR ACTIONS AS THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN THEY PERFORMED A COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH WHICH TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES, ONLY TO RETURN. *AK THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING ALL ACROSS NORTH AMERICA SO IT CANNOT BE BLAMED ON WEATHER OR TYPE OF FUEL USED. I HAVE MANY CONCERNS WITH THE LONG TERM RELIABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE.
THE CONSUMER STATED THE CONSOLE AND HOOD PRODUCED EXTREME HEAT. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL CATCH FIRE. THE CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON AND THEY'VE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO ASCERTAIN ANYTHING A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE CODE IS LOST IN THE COMPUTER WITH MULTIPLE STARTS AND SHUT OFFS OF THE ENGINE. THE COMPUTER IS RESET AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS--NO ONE CAN TELL ME HOW LONG I HAVE TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE ERROR LIGHT IS LIT. *NM
SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHTS ON TWO LANE HIGHWAYS WE ARE CONTINUALLY FLASHED WITH BRIGHTS, INDICATING OUR BRIGHTS ARE TURNED ON BUT THEY WERE NOT. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE LIGHTS ADJUSTED AND WERE TOLD THEY ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE KEY WAS DETACHING FROM THE IGNITION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V302000 (POWER TRAIN). WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYED ON WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE AIR BAG MODULE. WHEN INSTALLED A BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) WAS ALSO NEEDED. WHEN THE BCM WAS INSTALLED DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO PROGRAM IT TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE AIR BAG MODULE IN ORDER FOR THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT OR IMPACT. DEALERSHIP OR MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*AK
IN THE 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX THE COOLANT MAY BE CONTAMINATED AND TURN A DARK BROWN OR BLACK AND SOMEHOW EMIT FUMES INTO THE CABIN THAT CAUSE THE OCCUPANTS TO FEEL LIGHT HEADED. THIS CONDITION CAN START ANYWHERE FROM 400 TO 1800 MILES ANDS WORSENS OVER TIME. IT IS UNKNOWN WHETHER THE FUMES ARE TOXIC SO THE VEHICLE IS UNDRIVABLE AT THAT POINT.*AK
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHEN TOWING MY POP-UP CAMPER TRAILER, THE 5 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANMISION WILL NOT SHIFT FROM THIRD GEAR TO FOURTH GEAR AUTOMATICALLY. UPON REACHING CRUISING SPEED, 60 OR 65 MPH, THE ENGINE REMAINS AT A HIGH RPM UNTIL I RELEASE THE ACCELLERATOR PEDAL. THEN IT SHIFTS INTO FOURTH GEAR. I DO NOT TOW THE TRAILER IN FIFTH GEAR (OVERDRIVE). WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, A MECHANIC THAT HAS WORKED FOR THIS SAME CHEVROLET DEALER FOR MANY YEARS, DROVE THE CAR, TOWING THE TRAILER. WHEN IT DID NOT SHIFT, HE TOLD ME STRAIGHT OUT THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. WHEN I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALER (DICK WICKSTROM CHEVROLET IN ROSELLE, ILLINOIS), THEY CLAIM TO HAVE CONTACTED THE FACTORY ENGINEERS AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. I VERY MUCH DISAGREE WITH THAT STATEMENT. I HAVE TOWED TRAILERS BEHIND QUITE A FEW DIFFERENT VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I AM TIRED OF HAVING DEALERS TELL ME THAT PROBLEMS I EXPERIENCE ARE "NORMAL AND THAT THEY ALL DO THAT".
THE FRONT WHEELS SQUEAK AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO WOBBLE WHEN DRIVING. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
2005 EQUINOX - I HAD ABOUT 300 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT STARTED SMELLING OF A PROPANE ODOR/DEAD ANIMALS. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY FLUSHED THE COOLANT SYSTEM BUT THE ODOR RETURNED. THEN THE CAR OVERHEATED DUE TO THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THEY PUT A NEW THERMOSTAT AND FLUSHED ONCE AGAIN. STILL A BAD ODOR, THE CAR LEAKS WATER AND IT RUNS HOT. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES AND THEY STILL CAN NOT FIX THE ODOR.*AK
2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX TRANSMISSION CONSTANTLY FAILS TO HOLD VEHICLE IN PLACE WHEN STOPPED OR PARKED.*MR THE VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE AND MUST BE STOPPED FROM ROLLING FORWARD BY STEPPING ON THE BRAKE OR STEEPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE CONSUMER SMELLED BURNING RUBBER IN OR AROUND THE FRONT CONSOLE, THERE WAS EXTREME HEAT FROM THE ENGINE, ON THE FRONT HOOD AND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, HEAT ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DASHBOARD AND THE REAR TAIL GATE AREA. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE HEAT HE WAS FEELING WAS FROM NATURAL SOURCES. THE FRONT SIDE WINDOW AND DOOR SUPPORTS INTERFERED WITH THE CONSUMERS VISION. THE DOORS CONSTANTLY CREAK AND MAKE LOUD NOISES WHEN OPENED. THE BACK HEAD RESTS IMPAIR THE REAR WINDOW VISIBILITY. *JB
MOLDING POSSIBLE COME LOOSE, NO ASSIST HANDLES ON AUTO. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE IS NO HELP AIDS TO GET IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. *TC
2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO A VEHICLE MALFUNCTION.*MR CONSUMER WANTS TO KNOW IF ANYTHING CAN BE DONE THAT CAN FORCE GM TO INSPECT THIS CAR. CONCERNED THAT ANOTHER ACCIDENT WILL OCCUR WITH MORE SERIOUS RESULTS. *BF *NM
WHILE BACKING OUT FROM THE CAR PORT VEHICLE ACCELERATED IN REVERSE. VEHICLE WENT DOWN AN INCLINE AND WAS TOTALED. CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT TRANSMISSION HAD AN ADAPTIVE LEARNING TRANSMISSION.*AK
VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED IN REVERSE WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE CAR PORCH. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RUN INTO THE CAR PORCH WALL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *TC

PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX NEW FROM DEALER. VEHICLE SPENT TWO DAYS AT DEALER, ONLY FOR DEALER TO TELL ME THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR PROBLEM. MY EQUINOX HAS COOLANT CONTAMINATION WHICH EMITS A BAD ODOR. CHEVY STILL HAS TO TSB OUT ON THIS PROBLEM YET, AND OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS WAS NOTICED @ 1500 MILES. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE HAS 2700. DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM DRIVING UNTIL CHEVY COMES OUT WITH TSB. IF YOU LOOK AT THE COOLANT RESEVOIR, THE COOLANT IS DARK IN COLOR AND SLUDGE IS FORMING IN THE CONTAINER (RESIDUE). *NM
2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX - BAD ODOR COMING FROM HVAC AND COOLANT SYSTEM, FIRST NOTICED WITH APPROXIMATELY 1200 MILES ON THE SUV, HAD IN AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD DO NOTHING, AFTER FURTHER COMPLAINING THEY CONTACTED GM AND TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ORDER SOME NEW "STUFF" AND ONCE IN THEY WOULD REPLACE AND FLUSH THE COOLANT. I'VE CALLED TWICE NOW OVER THE PAST MONTH, DEALERSHIP STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED "STUFF". ISSUE NOT RESOLVED.*AK
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. SOON AFTER I RECEIVED THE NEW VEHICLE (WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED MILES) I BEGAN NOTICING A VERY DISTINCT AND HORRIBLE SMELL COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE SMELL IS NOTICEABLE FROM 10 FEET AWAY FROM THE CAR AND COMES IN THROUGH THE CABIN VENTS WHEN THE AIR IS ON AND THE CAR IS STANDING STILL AND RUNNING. IT DOES NOT ENTER THE CABIN WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. GM THINKS THE SMELL IS DUE TO THE DEXCOOL COOLANT REACTING WITH THE HOSES IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND HAS FLUSHED MY COOLANT SYSTEM SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY BUT THE SMELL KEEPS COMING BACK. I HAVE BEEN READING OF THIS PROBLEM FROM MANY, MANY OTHERS ACROSS THE US AND CANADA WHO OWN EQUINOX AND SO FAR GM HAS NOT ANNOUNCED A RECALL DESPITE PEOPLE BEING UNABLE TO SPEND MORE THAN 5 MINUTES IN THESE VEHICLES BEFORE GETTING HEADACHES OR JUST BEING UNABLE TO HANDLE THE SMELL. PLEASE URGE GM TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION FAST! *JB
TWICE, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS FIRMLY PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. BOTH TIMES I WAS ABLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT COLLIDING WITH ANYTHING. EVIDENTLY, CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THE POSSIBLILITY OF THIS HAPPENING, BECAUSE THE OWNER'S MANUAL DISCUSSES HOW TO RESET THE SYSTEMS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM.*AK
RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER MODE - OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE ABILITY TO PUT POWER WINDOWS UP WITH A WINDOW OF TIME AFTER KEYS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION BUT NO DOORS OPENED - WINDOWS WILL NOT OPERATE - BUT RADIO AND INSIDE LIGHT DOES STAY ON....OWNERS MANUAL SAYS IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THIS......BUT NONE OF THE CARS CHECKED AT THE DEALERSHIP WORK LIKE THIS....I ENJOYED THIS FEATURE IN MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER.....AND JUST WISH THIS CAR DID WHAT THE MANUAL SAYS - SO FAR DEALERSHIP SAYS THE MANUAL IS OFTEN GENERIC AND THAT THIS MUST NOT BE A FEATURE OF THE EQUINOX ---I HOPE THEY ARE WRONG AND SOME PROGRAMMING WILL CORRECT THIS MATTER - *AK
CONTACT STATES: BOUGHT A BRAND NEW VEHICLE IN AUGUST 2004. THE ANTI-FREEZE WAS CHANGED. THE ANTI-FREEZE WAS BROWN AND THE SMELL WAS SEVERE AND NAUSEOUS. THE CAR HAS BEEN THE SHOP 9 TIMES WITH SO MANY DIFFERENT REASONS. THE ANTIFREEZE LINE WASN'T BLED RIGHT AND THE ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING IN THE GROUND. THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE DOME LIGHT AND SUNROOF, THE SUSPENSION AND ENGINE WOULD TICK, THE HORN DID NOT WORK, THERE WERE FRONT END PROBLEM, THE SHIFTER WOULD STICK, THERE IGNITION PROBLEM, NOISE WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE, GAS MILEAGE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A TOXIC SMELL FROM THE ANTI-FREEZE, THE VEHICLE OVER HEATED, THE BRAKES MADE NOISES, THE CONSUMER HAD DRIVEN THROUGH A CAR WASH, THE DOME LIGHT HAD FILLED WITH WATER, THE LOWER DASH WAS DRIPPING WATER AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN BRAKING,THERE WAS POOR GAS MILEAGE DURING CITY DRIVING, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISES WHEN MAKING TURNS ON THE FRONT STRUTS, THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE OUT OF ROUND, THE SHIFTER WOULD STICK, THE IGNITION CYLINDER WAS BINDING, THERE WAS POPPING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED FROM COLD, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR. *SC *JB

WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. CONSUMER DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT DRIVER'S SIDE STRUT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. *AK THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER BALANCED THE WHEELS. *NM
WE PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX ON MARCH 30, 2004. IN JULY WE STARTED TO NOTICE A STRANGE ODOR IN THE CAR. MY HUSBAND WOULD GET HEADACHES AND EXPERIENCE DIZZINESS WHEN RIDING IN THE CAR. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK 5 TIMES FOR THE ODOR PROBLEM AND HAVE BOTH HAD MULTIPLE UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS REQUIRING MEDICAL TREATMENT. 2 OF THE 5 TIMES THEY FOUND STANDING WATER IN THE TIRE WELL AND WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ORIGIN THEY REPLACED REAR GATE SEALS (THE CARGO MAT CARPET IN THE BACK WAS NOT EVEN WET). ANOTHER TIME THEY REPLACED THE CARPET IN THE BACK PASSENGER SEAT BECAUSE THEY SAID IT GOT WET WHEN THERE WAS WATER IN THE TIRE WELL AND WAS CAUSING THE ODOR. THE NEXT TIME THEY FLUSHED THE RADIATOR COOLANT BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO DO SO. THE LAST TIME THEY CHANGED THE RADIATOR HOSES. THE DEALERSHIP (PORTER CHEVROLET IN NEWARK, DE) STATES THAT THEY CANNOT REPLACE OR REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE AS WE HAVE REQUESTED. THE DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER FOR GM SAID HE RODE IN THE CAR AND DID NOT SMELL ANYTHING SO THERE IS NO BASIS FOR HIM TO REPLACE OR REPURCHASE THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN ABOUT AN ODOR AND THEY SAID THEY CONTACTED GM AND THAT THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY COMPLAINTS EITHER. THERE ARE NUMEROUS POSTINGS ON EDMUNDS.COM FROM EQUINOX OWNERS WHO HAVE COMPLAINED TO DEALERSHIPS AND GM FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. IS THIS PROBLEM KNOWN TO GM? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM AND IS IT HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THIS ODOR PROBLEM? *JB
WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR TURNING WHEEL A POPPING NOISE IS HEARD FROM THE PASSENEGER FRONT WHEEL. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT GM CURRENTLY HAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM STEADLY GETTING WORSE.*AK
MY EQUINOX WAS PURCHASED IN 4/16/04 AND THE CHECH ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON 2 TIMES, THE 1ST TIME WAS THE FUEL EMISSION GASKET THAT WAS BAD AND THE OTHE TIME WAS THE WAY THAT I DID NOT PUT THE GAS CAP ON RIGHT. AND THE REAREND IN MAKING A REAL LOUD GROUNDING SOUND ANY TIME YOU TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. *AK
VARIOUS DATES RANGING FROM APRIL OF 2004 UNTIL SEPT OF 2005. LACK OF POWER/ NO FORWARD ACCELERATION. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY - BUT ALWAYS WHEN IT IS WET OR RAINING. OFTEN HAPPENS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. JUST RECENTLY I WAS TRAVELING 50+ MILES AN HOUR ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGH WAY & THEN THERE WAS COMPLETE LACK OF ACCELERATION. THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS UP BUT THE CAR DOES NOT STALL. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR BACK TO GMAC FOR SERVICE 7 TIMES FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THIS IS A VERY LARGE SAFETY ISSUE & I THINK IT SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED. *NM
CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2005, PRESSED ACCELERATOR CAR LUNGED BACKWARD. *BF THE CONSUMER HIT A BACK WALL AND THE VEHICLE HAD CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE POINT IT WAS DECLARED TOTALED.*JB
2005 CHEVY EQUINOX AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER STATES THAT HE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL CRASH AND AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. HE STATES THAT THE CRASH SPEED WAS ABOUT 35 MPH. *KB
