MY CHEVY HAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET AFTER ONLY 112K. FROM WHAT CHEVY MECHANICS HAVE TOLD ME IT'S BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY EGR VALVE ON THE VEHICLES BECAUSE GM FAILED TO NOTIFY THE OWNERS OF SAID VEHICLES TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR FROM THE START. WINDOW MOTORS HAVE GONE BAD AFTER ONLY 45K MILES, BLOWN GASKET, THE NON STARTING, NO AC UNLESS I'M TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, HAVING TO PULLOVER AND STOP TURN CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON TO GET THE HEAT TO KICK ON IN THE WINTER. I'VE CONTACTED GM BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT IT. THE CHEAPEST I COULD FIND FOR MY CAR WAS 3000 TO REPLACE THE GASKETS. I MIGHT AS WELL DROP A NEW ENGINE IN THE CAR FOR THAT BUT WHY PAY THE 3000 TO REPLACE ENGINE FOR IT TO CRAP OUT ONCE AGAIN! WANDER IF I COULD PUT AN 08 ENGINE IN IT?? NEVER WILL I BUY AN EQUINOX AGAIN NOT IN A MILLION YEARS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE WHEN THE GLOVE BOX POPPED OPEN AND THE CONTENTS CAME OUT. THE STRIKER BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE GLOVE BOX SHUT BROKE OFF AT THE POINT WHERE ITS ATTACHED TO BOLTS. *TR
CAR WILL NOT START UNLESS I CHANGE THE REAR BRAKE FUSE. WHEN I CHANGE IT, IT CONTINUES TO BLOW OUT.. *TR
I WAS DRIVING, HIT ICE, FISH TAILED, STARTED TO SPIN, WENT HEAD FIRST INTO THE MEDIAN, PROBABLY GOING 30-45 MPH. AFTER THAT WE CAME TO A STOP, AND WERE HIT BY A SEMI TRAILER TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45-60 MPH. NEITHER IMPACT SET THE AIR BAGS OFF AND WE BELIEVE THAT IT SHOULD HAVE. *TR
CAR STARTED OVERHEATING AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD HEAD GASKET AND REPAIRED. AFTER THE HEAD GASKET WAS REPAIRED THE EQUINOX STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD. THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE REPLACEMENT MOTOR LASTED 3 WEEKS BEFORE IT FAILED AS WELL WITH THE SAME DIAGNOSIS AS BEFORE, A BAD HEAD GASKET. I CONTACTED GM. THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTIONS, OFFERED NO HELP IN REPAIRING OR REPLACING THE ENGINE. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND THEY KNOW THE ENGINES IN THE 2005 AND 2006 (VIN F) ARE BAD ENGINES SUFFERING FROM A POOR DESIGN. THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE ENGINES ONLY FOR 2 YEARS BECAUSE THEY WORKED SO WELL. NUMEROUS REPORTS ABOUT THE BAD ENGINES WITH GM'S RESPONSE SIMPLY TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON A CAR THAT WON'T LAST PAST 100K MILES. *TR
CPSC: I12C0328A. 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER STATED THAT HEADLIGHT LENSES ON VARIOUS NEWER VEHICLES MADE FROM THE CLEAR PLASTIC FADES AND BECOMES CLOUDY AND IS NO LONGER SAFE. *LN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEAD GASKETS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THAT ANTI-FREEZE LEAKED INTO THE MOTOR AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. WITH ONLY 36,212 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE, THERE IS NOW A REAR HEAD GASKET LEAKING. NOW, AS A SENIOR CITIZEN WITH A FIXED INCOME, I NEED TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. IT SEEMS TO ME WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE AN ENGINE SHOULD LAST LONGER!! POOR WORKMANSHIP!!!! I SINCERELY HOPE THIS INFORMATION IS SHARED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
WHEN I WOULD TRY TO START THE CAR THE STARTER WOULD STICK AND JUST KEEP TURNING OVER AND OVER, AND WOULD NOT START, WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT TO START I WOULD BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE RPM'S WOULD SHOOT UP BETWEEN 3 AND 6 AND DROP TO 0 IN A MATTER OF SECONDS AND EVERYTHING IN THE CAR WOULD SHUT DOWN, THIS IS WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND SET THERE UNTIL IT DECIDED TO START, SOMETIMES IT TOOK AWHILE AND OTHERS IT WOULD START RIGHT UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER TO MANY TIMES TO COUNT, THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS, I COULD HAVE BEEN HURT VERY BADLY. ALSO THE KEY WOULD STICK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT TURN I WOULD HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND ROCK IT BACK AND FORTH IN ORDER FOR IT TO TURN TO START THE CAR. I HAD EVERYTHING POSSIBLE DONE TO THIS CAR THAT THE MECHANIC COULD POSSIBLY THINK OF, EVEN A NEW COMPUTER AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LATER IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY BAD WRONG WITH THE CAR AND IT NEED TO BE FIXED. I AM TIRED OF PUTTING OUT MONEY AND IT NOT BEING RESOLVED. HAVE PAPER WORK ON ALL THE WORK DONE TO THE CAR. THE KEY BECOMES LOOSE IN THE IGNITION AND CAME OUT WHILE CAR WAS ON OR IN MOTION. SPENT OVER $400 TO REPAIR IT AND NOW GM HAS MADE A MAJOR RECALL IN THE AREA BUT NOT ON THE 2005 EQUINOX. I HAD IT REPAIRED IN OR AROUND NOVEMBER 2013. *JS
OVERALL PROBLEM: THE ABS SYSTEM KEPT KICKING IN AT LOW SPEED STOPS AND THE ABS/TC LIGHT CAME ON IT STARTED OUT AS AN OCCASIONAL ABS SENSATION IN THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH GOT WORSE OVER A MATTER OF A COUPLE WEEKS. THE TIMES WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THE BRAKING WAS GENTLE` AND GRADUAL, SO IT WAS COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE ABS TO COME ON AND MY BRAKING DISTANCE WAS INCREASED. AFTER THE FIRST WEEK THE ABS/TC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY (EXAMPLE: AT LEAST TWICE ON MY 15 MINUTE COMMUTE). AFTER CONFIRMING THAT IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES, THE DEALER DECIDED IT WAS MY WHEEL HUB AND I PAID FOR THAT (EXPENSIVE) REPLACEMENT. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR ONE DAY, AND THEN RETURNED EVEN MORE SEVERELY AND I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT BEING ABLE TO STOP SAFELY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON CHEVROLETFORUM ONLINE FOR OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE, WE FOUND THAT IT WAS LIKELY THE "PIGTAIL WIRE HARNESS". THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALER AND REPLACED ON THAT SECOND TRIP. IGNITION SWITCH WON'T TURN UNLESS YOU WIGGLE IT SOMETIMES FOR 10 MINUTES. DEALER SAYS NEEDS IGNITION CYLINDER REPLACED I HAVE 5 KEYS NONE WORK. WILL COST $300-$400 TO REPLACE. I HAVE HAD MANY VEHICLES 15 _ 25 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. IT SEEMS CHEVY WILL ONLY BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IF SOMEONE DIES. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THEIR ACCOUNTABILITY. I HAVE READ MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS BUT NO HELP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, THE KEY WOULD CONTINUE TO CLICK TO THE ON POSITION EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TRIED TO COME TO A STOP APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION, ABS PULSATED AT BRAKE PEDAL. BRAKES ALMOST LET MY COAST INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. SYMPTOMS CONTINUE TO THIS DAY AFTER MANY REPAIRS. PULLED ABS FUSE TO DISABLE ABS TO KEEP IT FROM INTERFERING WITH BRAKING ACTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED GEARS EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WE PURCHASED A 2005 EQUINOX A FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAVE ONLY PUT ABOUT 1600 MILES ON IT. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE GETTING HOT, AND THE COOLANT BEING A STRANGE ORANGE-BROWN COLOR AND DISAPPEARING FROM THE OVERFLOW TANK. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP ON OCT. 2, 2012 AND FOUND OUT IT HAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. ESTIMATE FOR GETTING IT FIXED IS A LITTLE OVER $1400, AND MORE IF THE HEAD IS CRACKED. THE REPAIR SHOP INFORMED US THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A GOOD ENGINE AND THEY ARE VERY SURPRISED THAT IT HAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET WITH ONLY 85,700 MILES. WE'RE VERY DISAPPOINTED SEEING ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT GM IS NOT DOING ANYTHING. WE WILL BE CONTACTING THEM NEXT, EVEN THOUGH IT WON'T MATTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR REPAIRS AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,743.
WATER SEEPED IN UNDER SUN ROOF, DOWN FRONT DRIVER SIDE ROOF PILLAR AND THEN INTO CAR BEHIND DASHBOARD THEN DRIPPED DOWN INTO COMPUTER CONTROL DEVICE (WHERE OBDII UNIT HOOKS UP) WHERE IT SHORTED OUT ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I WAS GOING DOWN A HILL INTO TOWN WHERE SPEED IS 45 MPH AND MY SISTER IN LAW WAS IN CAR AND WE WERE HEADING TO AIRPORT HOWEVER ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN. BRAKES AND STEERING BECAME REALLY MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. WE COASTED TO A STOP AND AFTER 15 MINS CAR STARTED UP BUT WITH SIGNIFICANTLY DIMINISHED POWER SO I DROVE INTO A SERVICE STATION WHERE CAR STAYED FOR NEXT 2-DAYS. I DISCOVERED WHAT SHUT CAR DOWN WHEN I STARTED SQUIRTING WATER ONTO ROOF AT A CAR WASH AND WATER STARTED DRIPPING DOWN ONTO CARPET FLOORING BUT FIRST IT SEEPED INTO COMPUTER CONTROL UNIT. I WAITED OUT DRYING OF UNIT AND THEN DROVE HOME AND APPLIED A LOT CAULK TO SUNROOF WHERE GLASS MEET METAL/RUBBER. CAR EXTERIOR ROOF NOW LOOKS TERRIBLE AS CAULK DRIED SORT OF A BROWN CRUD COLOR (CAR IS WHITE) BUT NO MORE (KNOCK ON WOOD) ENGINE STALLING WHEN IT RAINS OR I GO THROUGH A CAR WASH. MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS WHEN ON ROAD AND IN RAIN. *TR

AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARD TO THE ISSUE AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO PURCHASE THE PART ELSEWHERE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT THE PART WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRYING TO ACCESS THE REAR LIFT GATE, THE LOCKING MECHANISM MALFUNCTIONED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE FROM THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED (OR THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,000. UPDATED 10/17/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE ELECTRONIC LOCK FAILED ON THE REAR HATCH. THERE WAS NO WAY TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH FROM THE INSIDE.
MY REMOTE WOULD NOT LOCK THE DOORS. REPLACED BATTERIES. IT WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK ONCE. THEN NOTHING. FUSE BLOWN. REPLACE FUSE. WORK ONCE, BLOW FUSE. TOOK TO DEALER AFTER 3 MONTHS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCESS MY TRUNK SPACE, YOU CAN'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE WITHOUT REMOTE. A WIRE INSIDE THE PASSENGER DOOR HAD SOMEHOW BEEN SEVERED??? HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN. $685 TO FIX.... NEXT HUGE ISSUE: DRIVING DOWN ROAD.. FRONT END GONE???? STRUTS, LINKS...$1100 CAR WON'T START ...HAVE TO GIVE IT GAS, SEEN A LOT OF THESE WITH NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG. WELL DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS FUEL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT, BAD INJECTORS... GRAND TOTAL TO FIX $2000.. IN WHAT WORLD SHOULD A VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT EVEN 100K MILES ON IT HAVE SO MANY COSTLY FIXES......I LOOKED ON HERE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THE STARTING ISSUE.. YOU CAN'T ALWAYS TURN THE KEY IT JUST WONT TURN YOU HAVE T KEEP TRYING AND HOPE YOU CAN GET IT TO TURN. THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE KEY SO I TRIED THE OTHER KEY THAT CAME WITH THE CAR SAME THING SOME TIMES IT WILL WORK AND OTHER TIMES YOU HAVE KEEP TRYING AND THE KEY WILL COME HALF WAY OUT OF THE IGNITION
MY EQUINOX HAS TROUBLE STARTING AND IT WILL TURN OVER UNTIL YOU GIVE IT SOME GAS, I'VE BEEN READING ON CONSUMER REPORTS AND THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH MOST EQUINOX'S. I WAS AT THE GROCERY STORE THE OTHER DAY AND HEARD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ANOTHER THAT WAS PARKED SOME WHAT CLOSE TO MINE AS WELL. *TR
1ST TIME, GOING DOWN STEEP HILL, COULD NOT STOP VEHICLE, THOUGHT BRAKES DIED, HAD TO USE THE HAND BRAKE TO STOP, JUST MISSED A TRUCK BY A FOOT, WOULD OF HIT ME ON DRIVER SIDE. THAT WAS IN 2012 HAD SUV TOWED TO ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, NON GM DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS THE IGNITION SENSOR, REPLACED IT, RE-TOWED TO GM DEALER IN MOON TOWNSHIP. THEY CHECKED IT OUT IT WAS OK SINCE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. 2ND TIME WAS IN 2013, STOPPED COMING DOWN A HILL AGAIN, NO POWER AGAIN, CALLED AAA THEY TOWED TO GM DEALER IN MOON TOWNSHIP PA. AGAIN IGNITION SENSOR REPLACED AND ALSO SOME OTHER WIRES BURNED WHICH WERE ALL REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS AROUND 33,000 ON IT ONLY. *TR
WHILE STOPPED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON I-80, CAR STARTED TO RUN VERY HOT, FAN KICKED ON AND IT FINALLY COOLED OFF. UPON ARRIVAL HOME, COOLANT WAS LOW, MY HUSBAND REFILLED COOLANT. CALLED JOHNSON MOTORS AND SCHEDULED A CHECK AND OIL CHANGE. JOHNSON MOTORS SERVICE PERFORMED A COMPRESSION CHECK AND INFORMED MY HUSBAND THAT ENGINE WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACED FOR PRICE OF APPROXIMATELY $6,000 DOLLARS (WOW). OF NOTE, IN DECEMBER 2010 HEADER GASKETS WERE REPLACED TO A PRICE OF $1,200 DOLLARS, I WENT ON LINE TO FIND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FROM MANY EQUINOX OWNERS CONCERNING THE SAME ISSUES OF HEADER GASKETS GOING BAD AND CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON A REGULARLY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE CARE SCHEDULE WITH ONLY GMC SERVICE TECHNICIANS. I AM SHOCKED THAT WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES ETC THAT THIS HAPPENED. THIS SITUATION IS DANGEROUS AND REALLY NEEDS A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION. APPARENTLY THE V6 ENGINE USED IN THE EQUINOX VEHICLES IS A PROBLEM ENGINE THAT GMC IS WELL AWARE OF, TIME FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE A CHANGE. THANK YOU. *TR
AS SOON AS THE SPEED REACHES 65, THE WHEELS SHAKE, I HAD TIRES REPLACED, NEW DRIVE BELT REPLACED AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. AS I READ SOME OF THE PROBLEM THE 2005 EQUINOX WERE HAVING IT IS THE SAME THING.
CARRIER BEARING FAILED ON CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH 2005 EQUINOX. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY GM. *TT
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 55-60MPH WHEN THE CAR DIES. STARTED RUNNING AGAIN A FEW SECONDS LATER BUT THEN DIED AGAIN. PULLED OVER COULD NOT GET IT STARTED, BUT STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. POPPED THE HOOD TO FIND THE MAIN FUSE BOX BELLOWING SMOKE, THANKFULLY IT WAS RAINING SO I LET THE RAIN COOL IT DOWN. I FIGURED THIS WAS BETTER THAN IT EVENTUALLY CATCHING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE ON FIRE AS MY WIFE AND 3 KIDS WERE IN THE CAR. AFTER THE SMOKE STOPPED, THE CAR REPEATEDLY TRIED TO START ITSELF WITHOUT THE KEY BEING PRESENT IN THE IGNITION. IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED DOING THIS BUT THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY FLICKER IN UNISON. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WERE STILL OPERATIONAL (RADIO, LIGHTS, SIGNALS, WIPERS, ETC...) BUT AGAIN NO KEY WAS PRESENT IN THE IGNITION. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING, SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED A LOUD NOISE FROM THE REAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MECHANIC HAD OFF AND ON FOR 3 WEEKS, UNABLE TO FIND CAUSE. DMV ISSUED WAVIER ON 4/9/2015 SO THAT WE COULD GET RENEWAL TAGS. TOOK TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO WAS RECOMMENDED BY FIRST ONE. THEY REPLACED R&R CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID AND THE WIRING HARNESS ON 6/22/2015. THE LIGHT STAYED OFF FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. WE RETURNED TO MECHANIC. PICKED UP ON 6/29/2015, LIGHT STAYED OFF UNTIL 7/2/2015. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO RETURN TO MECHANIC ON MONDAY DUE TO THIS BEING HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,300.

ALL PROBLEMS AROSE WHEN THE BRAKE FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE WOULD SHAKE WHEN BRAKING. WE HAD THE SHOES AND THE PADS CHANGED AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE SOLVED FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THEN THE PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE BRAKES WOULD SQUEAK WHEN BRAKING AND THEN THEY BEGAN TO TIGHTEN AND THE BRAKE WOULD LOCK ITSELF AND BEGAN TO SMOKE BECAUSE OF THE FRICTION THE PAD AND THE BRAKE DISC WERE CREATING SINCE THE BRAKE WOULD REMAIN LOCKED. THIS WAS ONLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE FRICTION MADE THE WHOLE WHEEL RIM GET HOT AND BEGAN PRODUCING A BURNING SMELL FROM THE BRAKE PAD. THE CALIBER, SHOES, PAD AND DISC HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR BOTH FRONT BRAKES. THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO SQUEAK WHEN BREAKING. NOW, THE MOTOR HEATS UP TO THE RED ZONE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVEN IF THEIR IS ANTI-FREEZE IN THE ENGINE. WHEN ACCELERATING THE MOTOR COOLS DOWN, BUT IF THE SPEED IS LESS THAN 35MPH THE MOTOR HEATS UP MORE. BASED ON OTHER COMMENTS FROM DRIVERS WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR THEY NOTICED THAT THE PROBLEM HAS COME UP TO BE THE HEAD GASKETS. THIS PROBLEM HAS CREATED MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE AND IS BECOMING A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THEIR IS STILL A POSSIBILITY THAT THE BREAKS WILL LOCK UP AGAIN AND POSSIBLY SPARK FIRE IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. WE HAVE NOT USED OUR VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES WE FEAR THAT NOT FIXING THE COSTLY PROBLEM MAY DAMAGE OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE.
