I AM NOT SURE HOW MANY COMPLAINTS YOU'VE HAD REGARDING THIS 2006 EQUINOX LT BLOWING COLD AIR. GMC IS NOT DOING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND I THINK THIS IS SAFETY HAZARD ISSUE DUE TO IT WILL NOT DEFROST WITHOUT HEAT AND DEFOG. *TR
TEMP DOOR ACTUATOR BROKE LEAVING ME WITHOUT HEAT TO DEFROST WINDOWS. REPAIR COST OF DOOR $50.00 COST OF LABOR $1200.00. THE DOOR IS MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC BUT THE ENTIRE FIREWALL MUST BE REMOVE TO REPLACE PART. THEN MY ENGINE BLEW 1 YEAR LATER. COST $1700.00. NOW MY ENGINE BLEW AGAIN. *TR
WITHOUT WARNING THE TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR FAILS AND THERE IS NO HEAT. THIS ALSO EFFECTS THE VISABILITY AS THE DEFROSTER DOES NOT PRODUCE AND HOT AIR AND IN A COLD CLIAMTE I AM NOT ABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND GMC REDESIGNED THE BLEND DOOR ON THE 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX SO THAT ONLY THE 2006 WAS EFFECTED. GMC CERTAINLY KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM AS THEY REDESIGNED THIS PART THE NEXT YEAR. THIS IS A WIDESPRED PROBLEM AS THE BLEND DOOR IS POORLY DESIGNED AS IS THE ACTUATOR. *TT
THE HEATER ON MY 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX IS NOT WORKING IT BLOWS COLD AIR. WE NOTICED IT ME AND MY FAMILY THAT IT STOPPED WORKING WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED IN THE EVENING AND WE TURNED ON THE HEAT AND ONLY COLD AIR WAS BLOWING OUT, LUCKILY WE WERE CLOSE TO HOME. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND TOLD ME THAT IT'S A COSTLY REPAIR AT THE DEALERSHIP. I LOOKED ON-LINE TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS BUT NONE YET AND FOUND OUT BY NUMEROUS ON-LINE COMMENTS THAT THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED. THE COST TO GET IT REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP IS ANYWHERE FROM $700 TO $1500 AND THAT IS WAY OUT MY POCKETS. THE COMMENTS THAT PEOPLE SAID THE COMMON PROBLEM IS THE "ACTUATOR" OR THE "HEATER CORE", BUT A LOT OF THEM WERE STEERING MORE TOWARDS THE "ACTUATOR" PART THAT CONTROLS THE DOOR FLAP TO GET EITHER HOT OR COLD AIR. IT'S A MANUFACTURER ERROR PLEASE HELP ME AND MY FAMILY ALONG WITH OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IT'S OUR FAMILY VEHICLE AND WINTER IS APPROACHING I WON'T BE ABLE TO DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD OR BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT SAFELY WITH THE CONCERN OF IT FOGGING UP IMPAIRING MY VISION ON THE ROAD WHICH CAN ENDANGER OUR LIVES! THE HEATER DOOR HAS BROKEN AND THE HEATER/DEFROSTER NO LONGER WORK. THE ISSUE CAUSES THE WINDSHIELD TO FROST OVER WHILE DRIVING. MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE HAVE BEEN POSTED ON THE INTERNET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE PARKED THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE DEFROSTER AND NOTICED THAT THE HVAC SYSTEM ONLY EMITTED COLD AIR AND WOULD NOT CLEAR UP THE WINDOWS. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE BLENDOOR FOR THE HEATER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
VEHICLE NO LONGER BLOWS HOT AIR WHEN HEAT IS ON THEREFORE THE DEFROSTER WILL NOT BLOW HOT AIR AS WELL. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD! IF WINDOWS ARE FOGGED OR ICED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER YOU CAN NOT SEE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN FATALITIES. I FOUND OVER 500 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WITH A PLASTIC TEMPERATURE DOOR VALVE (TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR) THAT IS DEFECTIVE ON THE 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APROX 45MPH THE ENGINE JUST STALLED. NO WARNING NO SPUTTERING JUST DEAD. BOTH ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ONE WITH THE X THRU THE ENGINE. AFTER APROX 30 SECONDS IT STARTED BACK UP AND WAS FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF DRIVING AND VARIOUS SPEEDS. ON 12/28/11 IT HAPPENED TO US 3 TIMES WHILE OUT. I AM LEARY OF TAKING IT TO THE DEALER CLOSE TO US AS THEY RECENTLY DID A BRAKE JOB THAT I HAVE HAD TO TAKE BACK 4 TIMES AND AM AGAIN HAVING SYMPTOMS OF NEEDING BRAKES. I HAVE NO FAITH IN THE DEALER. *KB

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,585. WHEN THE WEATHER STARTED TO GET COOLER I ATTEMPED TO PUT THE HEAT ON IN MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX AND NOTHING BUT COLD AIR CAME OUT! I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THIS IS A SAFTEY CONCER BECAUSE I ALSO HAVE NO DEFROST. THE LACK OF HEAT IS CAUSED BY THE AIR TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR FAILING TO OPERATE. THE BLEND DOOR ALLOWS AIR TO FLOW PAST THE HEATER CORE. THE AIR TEMPERATURE DOOR HAS A PLASTIC ARM WHICH IS CONNECTED TO AN ELECTRIC MOTOR. IT SEEMS THE PROBLEM IS WITH THIS PLASTIC ARM BREAKING AND MOTOR MALFUNCTION. GM DEALERS REPLACE THE PLASTIC ARM WITH A METAL ARM AT A COST TO THE CONSUMER OF BETWEEN $1100 AND $1400 DOLLARS. THIS IS A MANUFACTURES PART PROBLEM. GM SHOULD STEP UP AND MAKE THIS PROBLEM A RECALL ISSUE. SAFTEY IS INVOLVED. THE NEWER MODELS HAVE BEEN MODIFIED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TT
THERE HAS BEEN NO ACTUAL INCIDENT. I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF THE SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE LACK OF HEAT AND DEFROSTING CAPABILITIES OF THE 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX MAY CAUSE. IF THE ISSUE OF THE PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED THERE IS A CHANCE THAT A WINDOW WILL NOT BE DEFROSTED AND THE DRIVERS VIEW WILL BE OBSTRUCTED. THERE IS ALSO THE HEALTH ISSUE FOR NOT ONLY THE DRIVER BUT ANY PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. NOT BEING WARM OR ABLE TO SEE AND CAUSE RISING COSTS OF BOTH CARE AND HEALTH CARE COSTS. HELP PUSH THE ISSUE TO GMC AND GET THE PROBLEMS FIXED AT THEIR COST. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL BLEND DOOR WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
THE HEATING SYSTEM IN MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX FAILED. I SEE THAT THIS IS QUITE A COMMON ISSUE. WE BROUGHT OUR VEHICLE IN AND AFTER BEATING AROUND THE BUSH, THE DEALER IS QUOTING APPROX $1000 TO REPLACE THE BLEND DOOR MECHANISM. MOSTLY LABOR, I UNDERSTAND THE PART ITSELF IS RATHER IN EXPENSIVE. SINCE THE DEFROST ON THE FRONT WINDOW NO LONGER FUNCTIONS SHOULDN'T THIS PART BE RECALLED AS A SAFETY HAZARD??? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT DROVE OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE AND A POPPING SOUND WAS HEARD IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOOSE AND DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE COMPONENTS IN THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX FOR 5 MONTHS NOW. ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON SPORADICALLY, CAR OVERHEATS WHILE IN TRAFFIC OR IDLING. I CANNOT DRIVE MY TOO LONG. WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS IN THE MIDDLE. A/C BLOWS OUT HOT/FAN AIR WHILE IDLING, SOMETIMES BLOWS OUT BAD SMELL. WHILE CAR IS IN MOVING MOTION A/C BLOWS COLD AIR. AFTER APPROX. 30 MINUTES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, HOT AIR COMES OUT AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIRS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX. LAST INCIDENT IS REPORT BELOW, HOWEVER I CANNOT HAVE THE CAR PARKED ON FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I WAS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 10-15 MILES PER HOUR, CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION PERTAINING TO MY JOB,WHEN I BEGAN TO HEAR A LOUD CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM MY ENGINE AREA.I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF.AFTER LETTING THE ENGINE REST/COOL FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES,I RESTART THE VEHICLE, AT WHICH POINT THE AMBER OIL ALERT LAMP ACTIVATES,AND THEN TURNS OFF.NOW,MIND YOU,I HAD JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE APPROX 700 MILES PRIOR TO THIS OCCURRING.THE CLICKING BEGAN TO SUBSIDE,AND, SINCE THE AMBER OIL ALERT LAMP WAS NO LONGER ON,I FIGURED IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA JUST TO GET IT BACK HOME SO THE OIL COULD BE CHECKED THE NEXT MORNING.SUDDENLY,WHEN I ARRIVE HOME, AND GET READY TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF IN THE DRIVEWAY,THE AMBER OIL ALERT LAMP RE-ACTIVATES, THE ENGINE,AGAIN, CLICKING.I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF.THE FOLLOWING MORNING,I CONTACTED A G.M. DEALERSHIP AND DESCRIBED TO THEM WHAT HAD OCCURRED.THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD BRING THE VEHICLE TO THEM TO BE INSPECTED; HOWEVER, THE SOONEST I COULD GET IN WAS ABOUT THREE WEEKS.INSTEAD,I CONTACTED A LOCAL OIL-CHANGE STORE AND HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND THE SYSTEM CHECKED OUT.A LITTLE WAYS DOWN THE ROAD, ABOUT 1,000 MILES INTO MY OIL CHANGE, THE AMBER OIL LAMP COMES ON AGAIN, STILL CLICKING, BUT NOT NEARLY AS MUCH AS BEFORE.I PULL INTO MY DRIVEWAY A FEW MILES LATER AND START HEARING A "CLUNKING" KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA,AT WHICH POINT THE RED OIL LAMP CAME ON.I CALLED THE GM CORPORATE CUSTOMER SUPPORT,WHOM AFTER I DESCRIBED WHAT WAS GOING ON,STATED TO ME IT SOUNDED LIKE A MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEM RELATING TO OIL ISSUES.I ASKED WHAT GENERAL MOTORS COULD DO FOR ME, AND SHE STATED "I AM SORRY, [XXX], BUT THE EQUINOX,PRIOR TO THE 2008,WAS NOT MANUFACTURED WITH ANY TYPE OF POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WHATSOEVER.I AM SORRY BUT THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO TO HELP YOU."NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE MY ENGINE DUE TO MAJOR DAMAGE! ABS BRAKES ACTIVATING AT LOW SPEED. BRAKES LOCK UP MOMENTARILY AT LOW SPEED, JUST PRIOR TO COMING TO A STOP WHILE DECELERATING. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 39000 MILES ON IT. *TR
FOR A FEW MONTHS MY KEY WAS HAVING TROUBLE TURNING IN MY IGNITION AS WELL AS MY SPARE KEY. IT FINALLY STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I HAD TO GET MY CAR TOWED AND HAD TO HAVE THE HOUSING AND IGNITION REPLACED. MY MECHANIC HAS INFORMED ME THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX MODELS. MY FRIEND AND I HAVE THE SAME MODEL BUT DIFFERENT YEARS AND ARE REALIZING WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. IF THIS IS SUCH A PROBLEM FOR CHEVY THEY NEED TO PLACE IT ON THE RECALL LIST INSTEAD OF CONSUMERS HAVING TO PAY $450 FOR SOMETHING THEY KNOW IS AN EXISTING PROBLEM. *TR
I'VE HAD THREE INCIDENTS WHILE DRIVING THAT I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF MY STEERING. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF A MECHANIC STARTED IT UP TO CHECK IT OUT AND IT DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT AFTER I TURN THE IGNITION OFF IT RESETS ITSELF. IT HAS HAPPENED THIS WAY SEVERAL TIMES NOW THAT I WAS IN A SAFE AREA BUT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT FAR FROM HOME.. *TR
I FIRST REPORTED TO CHEVROLET IN 2011 THAT MY IGNITION/KEY IN MY 2006 EQUINOX WOULD GET "STUCK". IT WOULDN'T TURN AND I'D SPEND SOMETIMES SEVERAL MINUTES JUST TRYING TO GET THE KEY TO TURN SO I COULD START THE CAR. I SOMETIMES HAD TO TAP THE KEY FORWARD WITH A SCREWDRIVER HANDLE. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. CHEVROLET SIMPLY SAID THANKS FOR TELLING US THAT YOU AND MANY MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE BLOWER FAN NOT WORKING. IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMONLY REPORTED ISSUE AS WELL BUT I CANT SEEM TO FIND AN ACTUAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE BLOWER RESISTOR MOTOR/FAN PROBLEM. I'M JUST SO DISAPPOINTED IN CHEVY! 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX HAS STEERING COLUMN SHUDDER, NOISE, VIBRATION WHILE TURNING AND SLOWING FROM 45-5 MPH. FEELS AS IF THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WILL FALL APART IN YOUR HANDS. I HAVE HEARD THIS MAY BE A CARRIER BEARING/INTERMEDIATE SHAFT/STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT ISSUE. *TR
WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT DURING A RAIN STORM ON THE NIGHT OF JUNE 18TH, 2011, I TURNED ON THE HEATER AND HEARD A CLICKING SOUND FROM THE DASH AREA, AND THE HEATER WOULDN'T BLOW HOT AIR. THERE WAS/IS STILL COOL AIR BLOWING FROM THE VENT(S). BECAUSE OF THIS, THE DEFROSTER ON THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT/DOESN'T WORK EITHER, IT TOO ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR. I HAD TO CRACK THE WINDOWS OPEN IN ORDER FOR THE WINDOWS NOT TO FOG UP DURING MY DRIVE HOME. BELIEVING THIS WAS JUST A SIMPLE MATTER OF REPLACING A HEATER CORE OR THERMOSTAT, AND BECAUSE I WOULDN'T NEED THE HEATER DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS I DIDN'T START LOOKING INTO THE MATTER UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO. IN HAVING THE PROBLEM CHECKED, IT SEEMS THAT IT IS A FAULTY HEATER BLEND DOOR/ACTUATOR. THE COST TO FIX IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE, DUE TO THE LABOR INVOLVED. I FEEL THAT NOT BEING ABLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM, THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ THAT CHEVY RECALLED A 2010 EQUINOX BECAUSE OF A DEFECT THAT CAUSED AN INOPERABLE DEFROST SYSTEM, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE 2006 MODEL. (FAILURE MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATE). *KB

IN ADDITION, SHE STATED THAT THEY HAD A HARD TIME REMOVING THE WHEELS BECAUSE OF CORROSION AND MOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE HEAT NOT WORKING IN MY CAR. TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND AFTER THEY CHARGED ME $50.00 TO LOOK AT IT, DISCOVERED IT WAS THE BLEND AIR DOOR THAT WAS BROKEN. MECHANIC ALSO SAID IT WAS ODD THAT THE PART WAS IN STOCK. THIS IS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM TO HAVE. $40.00 PART FOR A $900.00-$1200.00 FIX. HAD TO GET IT REPAIRED AS WE NEED THE HEAT IN WI. ALSO NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHEN I DRIVE. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. I AM NERVOUS TO EVEN USE MY HEAT AS I DON'T WANT TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN. I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT AT TIMES THE CAR WOULD NOT START THE FIRST TIME I TURNED THE KEY. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY TO OFF POSITION AND TRY AGAIN, THIS COULD SOMETIMES TAKE A COUPLE OF TIMES. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY OVER AND OVER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPEAT THE COMPLAINT. THEN FINALLY IN 2013 THEY DID AND STATED THAT IT WAS INDEED THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH WOULD COST A GOOD AMOUNT TO GET FIX. THEY ALSO SHOWED ME THAT WHILE THE KEY IS IN RUNNING POSITION THAT IT COULD BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. WITH THE LATEST OF MANY RECALLS ON THE GM VEHICLES I BELIEVE THE EQUINOX SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED IN THIS AS THEY EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
SUNSHINE KIDS RADIAN XTSL INSTALLED REAR FACING IN 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX. SOLID INSTALL WITH SUPERLATCH SYSTEM, BARELY 1/4 INCH OF MOVEMENT AT THE BELT PATH, HOWEVER UPON WIGGLING THE SHOULDER AREA OF THE SEAT WITH MINIMAL PRESSURE, THE SUPERLATCH LOOSENED DRAMATICALLY AND THE SEAT WAS NO LONGER SECURE. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LS. PURCHASED FROM THE DEALERSHIP BRAND NEW IN 2006. I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION GETTING STUCK A LOT. IT PROGRESSIVELY BEEN GETTING WORSE SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT I'M NOT ALONE. HAVING VERY SIMILAR PROBLEMS AS PROBABLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS STATE REQUIRED EMISSION, DUE TO READINESS ERROR CODE. FOR REASONS UNKNOWN THE EVAP AND EGR SYSTEM CODE WILL NOT RESET (NOT READY CODE). WE WERE TOLD BY SEVERAL MECHANICS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES. AFTER 800 MILES AND SEVERAL FAILED TEST LATER THE SYSTEM STILL WILL NOT RESET. WE CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER. AGAINST OUR BETTER JUDGMENT WE HAD NO OTHER OPTIONS AVAILABLE AND FINALLY TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL GM DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE SERVICE TECH DOWNLOADED SOFTWARE TO ADDRESS A P0171 CODE, WHICH COST US OVER $300 AND TO DRIVE IT 200 MORE MILES, BRING IT BACK FOR A TEST. THE SYSTEM STILL DID NOT RESET AND THE CAR WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS. WE ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER FOR OTHER OPTIONS AND ALL HE COULD GIVE US WAS LIP SERVICE (USELESS RAMBLING), POSSIBLE TROUBLESHOOTING REPAIRS AND MORE MONEY. I FOUND ON A TOPIX WEBSITE THAT GM RECALLED THE PCM FOR THE EQUINOX BUT COULD NOT FIND THE RECALL ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. PLEASE RESEARCH AND POST THE RECALL IF GM HAS ISSUED ONE FOR THE PCM. *TR
VEHICLE NO LONGER BLOWS HOT AIR WHEN HEAT IS ON AND DEFROSTER NOT LONGER BLOWS HOT AIR. FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WITH A PLASTIC TEMPERATURE DOOR VALVE (TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR) THAT IS BROKEN. NO HEAT MEANS WINDOWS FOG UP AND AND CAN NOT SEE TO DRIVE, WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD IN RAINY OR SNOWY COLD WEATHER. ACCORDING TO OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS THE COST TO REPAIR IS AROUND $1200 FOR $50-$80 METAL PART.

CHEVY EQUINOX 2006-BROKEN BLEND DOOR DUE TO MALFUNCTION OF THE ACTUATOR. COST FOR DIAGNOSES $44, COST TO REPAIR $1,000. HAVE NOTICED THAT NUMEROUS OWNERS OF THIS YEAR AND MAKE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AROUND THE 50,000 MILE MARK, MINE IS AT 51,000. THE KNOB THAT TURNS IT FROM COLD TO HOT IS CRACKED AND I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THIS PIECE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BROKEN AND IT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. IT IS ONLY BLOWING COLD AIR. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CAN'T DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD ON A COLD DAY WITH COLD AIR. COMPLAINANT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WHERE THE HEAT AND DEFROSTER SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING ON MARCH 1, 2011. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR TEMP ACTUATOR OVER ACTUATED AND BROKE THE AIR TEMP DOOR. THE AIR TEMP DOOR AND ACTUATOR ARE NOW FAULTY AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. ESTIMATE OF $1200 OF WHICH MOST OF THE COST IS LABOR DUE TO NEED TO DISASSEMBLE ALL OF THE DASHBOARD TO REPLACE PART. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT OF THE VEHICLE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR AND MANUFACTURER HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL. VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
