ON 4/14/12, THE HEATER/DEFROSTER STARTED BLOWING COLD AIR ONLY. THIS CAUSED THE WINDOWS TO FOG AND LIMITED VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING IN A RAIN STORM ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ONLINE, I FOUND HUNDREDS OF REPORT OF THE SAME FAILURE IN THE AIR TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR DATING BACK TO 2008. *TR
VERY COLD MORNING. WINDOWS FOGGED UP. TURNED ON DEFROST HEARD SOMETHING POP AND FELT COLD AIR COME INTO THE CAR. DROVE TO WORK BY WIPING THE WINDOW WITH NAPKINS. CALLED MECHANIC TO FIND OUT WHAT COULD BE DONE WAS TOLD THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. CALLED DEALER TO ASK IF THEIR WAS A RECALL AND CHECK PRICE AGAINST MECHANICS. DEALERS PRICE WAS THE SAME. INTERESTING PART WAS DEALER DENIED ANY SUCH PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT GM WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR BUT THE DEALER SAYS I DO NOT QUALIFY. THIS IS NO CHEAP REPAIR. LOOKING FOR A CLASS ACTION OR GOOD LAWYER. FOUND YOUR SITE TO VENT AND HELP OTHERS. *TT
TL* THE CONTACTS OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HEAT NO LONGER BLEW THROUGH THE VENTS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE A REASON FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 68,000.
BOUGHT USED IN FEB 2012 FROM LOCAL DEALER THE HEATER WORKED FINE UNTIL EARLY APRIL. WE HAD WEIRD WEATHER HERE IN UPSTATE NY VERY WARM SO DID NOT NEED TO USE HEATER THAT MUCH. TOOK DAUGHTER TO WORK AT 4 AM AND TURNED ON HEAT AND COLD AIR IS COMING THRU VENTS, THE TEMP GAUGE IS FINE I AM THINKING MAYBE THE THERMOSTAT IS STUCK OPEN IT MIGHT BE ORIGINAL THERMOSTAT OR FROM WHAT I SEE ON THIS SITE THE MECHANICAL DOOR IS STUCK OR BROKEN. I SPOKE WITH DEALER HE SAID IT WAS COVERED IN THE WARRANTY TO PAY THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE AND HAVE IT CHECKED OUT , WITH SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS CAN THE ATTORNEY GENERAL GET INVOLVED ON THIS IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE IF NO HEAT AND DEFROSTING WINDOWS AND GM SITS ON THEIR HANDS AND SAY IT IS WITHIN GM'S CRITERIA WELL GM OBVIOUSLY SUCKS AND DO NOT HONOR A MAJOR DEFECT IN THEIR PRODUCT. I LIKE THE EQUINOX BUT ONLY HAD IT 2 MONTHS AND THIS IS NOT GOOD GLAD IT IS GETTING WARM NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE WHERE THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO START. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THE IGNITION HAD BEEN REPLACED, AS WITH OTHER COMPONENTS THAT WERE REPAIRED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER SERVICED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
BLOWN HEAD GASKET AT 65,000 MILES. WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED, CAR LOST POWER. NO INDICATION OF ANY ISSUES BEFORE, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO OTHER WARNING WHATSOEVER. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG 2005 & 2006 EQUINOX'S SINCE I WAS INFORMED OF HOW COMMON IT IS FROM THE LADY AT THE BMV....I KEPT ASKING MY CHEVY DEALER HOW DOES A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 65,000 MILES BLOW A HEAD GASKET AND SOMEHOW I DOUBT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE HEARD OF IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT DETECTED A BURNING ODOR. ALSO, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING TURNED OFF AND THE RADIO SIGNAL WAS LOST. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GRAY-DANIELS CHEVROLET (601-863-8466, LOCATED AT 6080 I-55, JACKSON, MS 39211), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE SAME DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
MY CAR BLOWS COLD AIR. I HAD EVERYTHING CHECKED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS THE AIR FLOW BLEND DOOR INSIDE THE HEATER SYSTEM. THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS TO BE REMOVED. TO REPAIR IT WILL COST $1291.00 AND $96.86 FOR THE DEALER TO TELL ME THAT THIS IS THE PROBLEM. I LIVE IN CHICAGO , MY WINDOWS WILL NOT DEFROST, I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE A CAR WHEN YOU CAN'T GET A CLEAR WINDSHIELD NOT MENTION DRIVING IN A FREEZING COLD VEHICLE. *TR
JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE, 1 DAY AFTER OWNING IT ABS AND NO TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THERE'S A RUMBLE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL. MY HUSBAND IS A MECHANIC, SO HE PUT NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS ON AND CLEANED WHEEL SENSORS. TOOK IT TO SEARS AND HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE DONE. 2 DAYS LATER I'VE GOT THE SAME LIGHTS ON AND RUMBLE IN PEDAL. RAN FINE FOR THOSE 2 DAYS. I'VE READ WAY TO MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEMS AND NO SOLUTIONS TO BE COMFORTABLE ABOUT PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE AND NOW I'M STUCK WITH IT! WHEN IS CHEVY GONNA WAKE UP AND TAKE NOTICE OF THIS PROBLEM? THEY HAVE RECALLS FOR REFLECTOR AND CONSOLE LATCHES, BUT THEY DON'T FIND FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEMS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO ADDRESS? I HEARD A THUMPING NOISE FROM WHAT FELT LIKE UNDER MY FEET. I THEN TRIED TO PUSH ON THE BRAKES, ONLY HAVING THE PEDAL GIVE A GREAT AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE WITH LOUD ABS NOISES. IT WILL CONTINUE DOING THIS UNTIL BOTH MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT COME ON. I HAD MY BRAKES CHECKED AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. AND OF COURSE IT WAS OUT OF MY 50000 MILE WARRANTY. I STILL DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY AND TRY TO GET THE LIGHTS ON AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE WHEN DRIVING MY CHILDREN AROUND SO THAT WE AREN'T SERIOUSLY INJURED. NOT UNTIL I STARTED RESEARCHING THE PROBLEMS I'M HAVING WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE DID I REALIZE I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE. THE BRAKES ARE THE FIRST TO MENTION...THEN THERE'S THE AC/HEATER PROBLEM IT WON'T BLOW HOT AIR, AND IT WON'T BLOW COOL AIR WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THEN THAT LOUD CLUNKING NOISE MADE WHEN I'M DRIVING OVER BUMPS THAT SOUND LIKE MY FRONT END IS GOING TO FALL OFF. OH AND THE FACT THAT MY SPEEDOMETER WILL ONLY INCREASE BY 3-5 MPH INCREMENTS. THE DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, AFTER GETTING A SPEEDING TICKET BY A CAMERA LIGHT IT WAS TAKEN INTO A SPEED SHOP WHO VERIFIED ITS ABSOLUTELY NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THEY COULDN'T EVEN GIVE ME A READING BECAUSE ITS BROKEN. NICE!!!!! SERIOUSLY IS SOMEONE GOING TO HAVE TO DIE, OR SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE SOMEONE STEPS UP AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY? *TR
PURCHASED MY EQUINOX IN 2006 NEW AT 12,000 MILES SERPENTINE BELT BROKEN,WINDOW HAS JUMPED GOING UP AND DOWN SINCE THE DAY OF PURCHASE TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM.AT 110000 MILES THE HEAT STOP WORKING.THEN BY SUMMER THE A/C WENT TOO.AND CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD IGNITION ISSUES MY CAR WILL STAY RUNNING EVEN WHEN YOU TAKE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION COMPLETELY.GM DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CAR OWNERS ONLY PROFIT... THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VENT THAT SHIFTED BETWEEN HEAT HAD BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000.

OUR 2006 EQUINOX BLEW A HEAD GASKET AT 100000 MILES UNDER NORMAL USE. WE HAVE FOUND DOZENS OF OTHER 06 EQUINOX OWNERS ONLINE THAT HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THERE ARE FORUMS OF EQUINOX OWNERS DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM. CHEVY SHOULD REIMBURSE US FOR THE COST OF FIXING THIS. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM AND THEY SAID BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE HEAD GASKET HAD FAILED AND NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000. UPDATED 7/16/12 *CN THE HEAD GASKET AND INTAKE GASKETS WERE REPLACED. IN JUNE 2012, THE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND WHITE SMOKE AND WATER WERE EMITTING FROM THE EXHAUST. A MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE REAR HEAD GASKET HAD FAILED AND THE #1 CYLINDER HAD FAILED AS WELL. UPDATED 07/18/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROSTER WAS INOPERABLE AND WOULD NOT CLEAR THE WINDOWS WHETHER USING COLD OR HOT TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE SHUTTER DOOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
IN JANUARY 2012 WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF BUYING OUR 2006 EQUINOX, WE STARTED HAVING IGNITION PROBLEM. WE WOULD TRY TO START IT AND IT WOULD JUST KEEP CRANKING UNTIL IT WOULD FINALLY START. WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE AND THEY TRIED REPLACING SEVERAL PARTS BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD IT IN AT LEAST 6 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND FINALLY WERE TOLD UNLESS IT JUST ALTOGETHER DOESN'T START THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. IT IS NOW JULY 2013, STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOW HAVING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS LIKE, COOLING FANS WON'T WORK, WINDOW WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN, RADIO BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL CHOOSING WHEN IT WANTS TO WORK, GAS MILEAGE IS TERRIBLE AND HAS BEEN FROM THE START. AFTER RESEARCHING SEVERAL WEB PAGES ABOUT COMPLAINTS WE ARE NOW FINDING OUT THAT THESE PROBLEMS MAY GET WORSE!!! ALSO WE HAVE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THIS ISSUE IS DUE TO THE PCM WHICH HAS BEEN RECALLED IN THE 2005 EQUINOX AND SEVERAL OTHER CHEVROLET PRODUCTS BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT THE 2006!!! ACCORDING TO OTHER ACCOUNTS, THE PCM CAN AFFECT MANY OTHER COMPONENTS. HOPING CHEVROLET WILL STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVY FAN BUT AT THIS RATE I AM STARTING TO LEAN TOWARDS FORD AS I HEAR THEY BACK THEIR PRODUCTS! WHAT A SHAME! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE KEY WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD RELEASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE IGNITION AND REPLACED THE KEYS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A SAFETY CONCERN WITH DEFROSTER FAILURE, BLEND DOOR AND ACTUATOR FAILURE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE BLEND DOOR WAS REMOVED FROM THE DASH OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A FAILED PLASTIC END PIECE THAT WAS SHEARED OFF THE DOOR BY THE ACTUATOR THAT CAUSED THE DOOR TO ROTATE WHICH MADE THE HEAT AND DEFROSTER INOPERABLE. THERE WAS VISIBLE BUBBLES IN THE PLASTIC PORTION THAT SHEARED OFF. *JB
HEATER STOPPED BLOWING HOT AIR WHICH CAUSES THE WINDOWS TO UNSAFELY FOG UP ON COLD SNOWY AND OR RAINY DAYS. ALL VISIBILITY IS GONE AS THE INSIDE FOGS UP WIPERS ARE UNABLE TO CLEAR THE GLASS. MAY CAUSE POTENTIAL SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. IT IS TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS IS HAPPENING WITH EVERY 2006 EQUINOX OUT THERE. THE ACTUATOR GOES OUT OF ALIGNMENT CAUSING THE BLEND DOOR TO BREAK AND NOT ALLOW THE HEAT IN. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED BLOWING COLD AIR WHEN THE HEAT SHOULD BE ON. I REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. IT'S NOT. IT IS THE TEMP ACTUATOR DOOR. ACCORDING TO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE BY A CHEVY DEALER THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 EQUINOX. I EMAILED GENERAL MOTORS WHO OFFERED TO PAY 10% OF THE $1000.00 CHARGE IT WILL TAKE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I DO NOT HAVE THIS MONEY. AND AFTER READING SEVERAL WEBSITES THERE ARE A TON OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I LIVE IN COLORADO WHERE IT IS 20 DEGREES OUTSIDE. MY WINDOWS WILL NOT DEFROST WITHOUT HEAT. PLEASE HELP ALL OF US THAT ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN YOU MAY BE DRIVING IN DRY WEATHER...AND THEN IT STARTS SNOWING OR RAINING. GENERAL MOTORS DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 MODEL, ALTHOUGH APPARENTLY THEY DO REALIZE IT ON THE 2010 MODEL. I HAVE BEEN A LIFE LONG CHEVY OWNER, AND MY FATHER RETIRED AFTER 32 YEARS WITH GM. IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE...I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER GENERAL MOTORS PRODUCT. HEATER BLOWS COLD AIR. HEATER JUST STOPPED BLOWING HOT AIR. AFTER DIAGNOSIS THE DEALER FOUND THE TEMP (AIR BLEND )DOOR BROKE AND IN THE DEFAULT COLD POSITION. HAD TO REPLACE THE TEMP DOOR AND THE ACTUATOR. PARTS $163 LABOR $930.60 PLUS MISC. TOTAL COST $1184.12. *TR
THE HEATER BLEND DOOR AND /OR ACTUATOR HAVE FAILED. THERE IS NO HEAT OR DEFROSTER. IT IS NOW WINTER AND BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAYS, THE DEALER CANNOT GET REPAIRED IN THE NEXT WEEK OR MORE. PART COST = $55. ESTIMATED LABOR COST $1500. THIS REPAIR IS OVER 10% VALUE OF THE CAR AND I AM TOLD REQUIRES REMOVING THE ENTIRE DASH. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THE CAR IS NOW UNUSABLE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES GRINDING NOT WANTING TO STOP AND TOOK TO A SHOP SAID MY BRAKES WERE LIKE BRAND NEW BUT YET IT DOESN'T WANT TO STOP MAKES GRINDING NOISES. I REPLACED THE STARTER IN MY CAR FOUR TIMES AND AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS STICKS WHEN STARTING OR DOESN'T WANT TO WORK AT ALL AND THIS WAS IN A TWO MONTH PERIOD. AFTER A MONTH OF PURCHASING MY EQUINOX THE HEAT QUIT WORKING. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MAKE VEHICLE. I TOOK MY EQUINOX TO MY LOCAL GM DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WAS WITH THE AIR TEMPERATURE DOOR BLEND BREAKING DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF THE ACTUATOR THAT OPENS AND CLOSES THE DOOR. THE ACTUATOR WILL PUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE DOOR CAUSING IT TO BREAK OVER TIME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER STATES BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE HEAT TO DEFROST YOUR WINDOW PROPERLY. IF THIS DOOR BREAKS ON A ROAD TRIP YOU ARE LIKELY UNABLE TO SEE UNTIL YOU GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. I BELIEVE THAT GM IS UNWILLING TO RECALL THIS PART DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS SO LABOR INTENSIVE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. EVEN KNOW THE PROBLEM STARTED BEFORE THE MILEAGE FACTOR IN THE WARRANTY FOR THE PART, AND IS OVER THE MILEAGE NOW, GM REFUSES TO HELP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP TO GET IT CHECKED ON 11-21-11. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE THINKING THAT A PISTON WAS BAD, BECAUSE THAT WAS THE WAY IT FELT, LIKE NOT GETTING THE RIGHT PRESSURE FROM THE PISTON ONCE THE BRAKES WERE ACTIVATED/PRESSED. ONCE WE GOT THE CALL BACK FROM MECHANIC, HE STATED THAT WE NEEDED NEW ROTORS DUE TO BOTH BEING WARPED. I THOUGHT THAT THAT WILL TAKE THE PROBLEM AWAY BUT ONCE WE GOT THE TRUCK BACK, IMMEDIATELY WITHIN DAYS THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SHOP AND THEY STATED IT WAS A TIRE THE ONE CAUSING THE NOISE AND RATTLE ONCE THE BRAKES WERE PRESSED. AT THE SHOP, THEY REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AS WELL AS THE DISC BRAKE ROTORS, THEY APPLIED LUG NUT TORQUE 100, INFLATION 35/35, CLEANED AND ADJUSTED REAR BRAKES. AFTER ALL OF THIS WAS DONE, I STILL GET ENGINE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO GET IT TESTED AT AUTOZONE FOR FREE AND GOT THIS CODE ON THEIR MACHINE OEM NUMBER TO CROSS: P0171 DEFINITION: FUEL TRIM BANK ONE CONDITION EXPLANATION: THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE USES THE OXYGEN SENSOR TO CALCULATE THE AIR/FUEL RATIO OF THE ENGINE. THE COMPUTER HAS RECOGNIZED A RICH OR LEAN CONDITION ON ONE BANK ONLY. PROBABLE CAUSE: A1. IF BANK ONE AND TWO SET TOGETHER SUSPECT FUEL PRESSURE OR MAF (MASS AIR FLOW) SENSOR A2. OXYGEN SENSOR DEFECTIVE. A3. IGNITION MISFIRE-REPAIR. A4. FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT USED MY TRUCK FOR THE PAST 2 AND A HALF MONTHS FOR FEAR OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT IF BREAKS FAIL TO DO THEIR JOB OR LOCK UP WHILE BRAKING. THE DEFROST AND HEATING SYSTEM WOULD NOT WORK. ONLY COLD AIR BLOWS FROM THE VENTS. THIS ALLOWS THE WINDOWS TO FOG AND CAUSES CONCERN. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX. THE FLAP TO CONTROL THE FLOW OF OUTSIDE AIR IS CONTROLLED BY A STEPPER MOTOR. THE MOTOR SHORT CIRCUITS, CAUSING THE FLAP TO BREAK. THUS THE FLAP IS INEFFECTIVE AND ALLOWS FOR FREEZING OR HOT TEMPERATURES TO FLOOD THE CAR. *TR

THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD LOCK UP AND SOMETIMES IT TURNS OVER CONTINUOUSLY, LIKE IT IS STUCK. THE AIR CONDITION BLOWER HAS STOPPED WORKING 3 TIMES. IT WOULD SMELL LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING BUT THE SWITCH ACTUALLY WOULD BE BURNING OUT. I HEAR OTHERS THAT HAVE CHEVROLET VEHICLES HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS.
