TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED ABRUPTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I READ ENDED HIM GOING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLATE. I EXITED THE CAR AND BEGAN SPEAKING WITH THE OTHER DRIVER WHEN WE HEARD A POP IN MY CAR. SMOKE STARTING COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THEN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY MY CAR ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CAR WAS NOT RUNNING. I INJURED MY KNEE AND SHOULDER IN THE INCIDENT.
WE WERE DRIVING TO THE AIRPORT, CAME OUT OF CONSTRUCTION ONTO UPHILL PART OF HIGHWAY. I WAS ACCELERATING AND HEARD A "POP".THOUGHT A TIRE BLEW, SAW WHITE SMOKE ON THE SIDES OF THE CAR AND PULLED OVER. MY BOYFRIEND GOT OUT IMMEDIATELY TO LOOK FOR A BLOWN TIRE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND BLACK SMOKE BEGAN POURING INTO THE CAR. I KNEW THERE WAS NOT A BLOWN TIRE AND YELLED FOR BOYFRIEND TO HELP GET OUR TWO YOUNG CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR. OPENED THE BACK DOOR AND COULDN'T SEE THE KIDS DUE TO ALL OF THE BLACK SMOKE AND ENTIRE FRONT END WAS ON FIRE WITHIN SECONDS. I GOT THE KIDS TO SAFETY AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO BLOW UP THREE SEPARATE TIMES IN WELL UNDER 10 MINUTES. THE MAN DRIVING BEHIND US HELPED AND STATED TO ME THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE CAR WHILE HE DROVE BEHIND US PRIOR TO THE "POP" WE HEARD. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS, NO POLICE REPORT DESPITE HIGHWAY BEING SHUT DOWN FOR A HOUR AND DETECTIVES SHOWING UP LATER. INSURANCE COMPANY WASN'T GOING TO INVESTIGATE, I GOT GM INVOLVED AND NOW THEY MIGHT. WAS GIVEN A CASE # BY GM, CALLED TWICE, NO RESPONSE BACK FOR 6 DAYS. I WANT TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF THIS. 5 YEAR OLD PERFECTLY MAINTAINED CARS WITH NO WARNING SHOULD NOT CATCH FIRE AND BLOW UP. I SAW AN ARTICLE ABOUT A MAN IN CONNECTICUT WITH A SIMILAR INCIDENT AND HIS WAS RELATED TO A REGIONAL RECALL THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THAT STATE. I LIVE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND QUESTION IF THIS COULD BE ASSOCIATED. THE CAR COULD HAVE KILLED OUR CHILDREN AND HARMED INNOCENT PEOPLE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE GOOD PEOPLE HELP US AND REACT SO QUICKLY. THE STATE POLICE OFFICER HAD US LEAVE IMMEDIATELY TO CATCH OUR FLIGHT AND TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD DO AND THEY HAD THE CAR TOWED. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET THE NAMES OF TWO MEN THAT HELPED DUE TO SHOCK AND BELIEF THAT THERE WOULD BE A POLICE REPORT.
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS MY CAR HAS BEEN DOING THE FOLLOWING: 1. I START MY CAR, AND IT WILL REV LIKE I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS. 2. IF I AM AT A STOP LIGHT/SIGN MY ENGINE WILL SHAKE AND ACT LIKE IT WANTS TO DIE, BUT IT DOESN'T. 2. WHEN I TURN MY CAR OFF, IT WILL CONTINUE TO RUN FOR 1-2 MORE SECONDS BEFORE COMPLETELY SHUTTING DOWN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC, AND HE SAID THAT THE FUEL IS LEAKING INTO THE CRANK CASE. I HAVE TO HAVE THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. UNFORTUNATELY I AM OVER THE WARRANTY. ALL OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, IT COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION, OR FIRE, AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. THIS COULD KILL SOMEONE.
AUDIBLE TONE VOLUME FOR SEAT BELT UNBUCKLED, DOOR AJAR, KEY LEFT IN IGNITION, TURN INDICATOR, ETC INTERMITTENTLY REDUCES TO A LEVEL THAT MAY BE BARELY BE HEARD. NEXT TIME IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE RESTORED RESTORED TO NORMAL. PROBLEM IS RANDOM, SOMETIMES LASTING FOR ENTIRE TRIP BUT IS NORMAL ON NEXT TRIP. I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM LISTED ON VARIOUS INTERNET AUTOMOBILE PROBLEM SITES BUT NOT ON YOUR SITE.
INCIDENT OCCURRED: JUNE 30, 2015 A TRACTOR TRAILER WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO COME INTO THE LEFT LANE. I HAD CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. THE TRUCK CAME OVER ADMITTEDLY AT A SPEED THAT WAS GOING SLOWER THAN THE RATE OF SPEED I HAD ON MY CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKE, I FELT AS THOUGH MY CAR WAS NOT DECELERATING ENOUGH BASED ON THE PRESSURE I WAS APPLYING TO THE BRAKE. I QUICK CHECKED MY SIDE MIRROR- I WAS UNABLE TO GO AROUND THE DRIVER BECAUSE A CAR WAS NEXT TO ME AND I CHECKED MY REARVIEW MIRROR TO ENSURE I WAS NOT GOING TO BE REAR-ENDED AS WELL- KNOWING I WAS TOO CLOSE AND GOING TO COLLIDE WITH THE TRUCK DRIVER AT THIS POINT. I APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE AS I COULD TO THE BRAKES TO DECELERATE BUT UNFORTUNATELY STILL COLLIDED WITH THE DRIVER. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY- DESPITE THIS, IT ALLOWED ME TO SEE MY MIRRORS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT SO THAT I COULD SAFELY COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE PA TURNPIKE WITHOUT DISRUPTING TRAFFIC. MY 2 CONCERNS: WAS BRAKING FAULTY WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED? ALSO- MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
MY DRIVERS SEAT WAS CHANGED TWICE IN SIX MONTH, STILL DOESN'T WORK THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT COMES IF NOTING IS IN THE SEAT. THE OIL COMSUMPTION IS UNGODLY AND NOW I HAVE ANOIL LEAK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY ENGINE AND I NEED TO ADD 2 QUARTS OF OIL DAILY. ECOBOOST WENT OUT WITHIN A YEAR OF MY OWNERSHIP. CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR OIL LEAK AND IT IS STII PERSISTENT.
CAR WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING WHEN IT WAS FIRST STARTED IN THE MORNING AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT. WE WOULD START IT UP AND TRY TO BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE AND IT WOULD DIE,RESTARTED AND IT WOULD DIE, THIS WOULD HAPPEN 3/4 TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD KEEP RUNNING. AFTER IT KEPT RUNNING IT WOULD THEN ONLY RUN AT A VERY SLOW SPEED FOR ABOUT 3 BLOCKS AND THEN IT WOULD JUST TAKE OFF AND WOULD RUN AND START LIKE IT SHOULD UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING AND THEN WE WENT THRU THE SAME THING AGAIN. THIS CAR WAS IN THE SHOP TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID WE HAD TOO MUCH ALCOHOL IN THE GAS WHICH WAS BS. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT AND HAD TO CALL THE TAC. IT TURNS OUT THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE O2 SENSOR AND BOTH TIMING CHAIN ACTUATORS AND ALL GASKETS. THIS CAR HAD A TIMING CHAIN AND TENSNER RECALL ON IT IN AUGUST 2014. I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM STEMS FROM THE RECALL ON THE TIMING ISSUES. I DON'T HAVE ANY THING TO UPLOAD BUT YOU CAN GET THE RECORDS FROM THE DEALER.
ON JUNE 21, 2015 WHILE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, I STOPPED BEHIND A VEHICLE THAT WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE, MY VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO SHIFT. THE MOTOR REVVED UP INSTEAD. I HAD A VEHICLE COME UP BEHIND ME AND THANKFULLY THEY WERE ABLE TO DRIVE INTO THE OTHER LANE AN GO AROUND ME, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIT. I MANAGED TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. HAD IT HAULED TO THE DEALER. TODAY I'M TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND THE TIMING CHAIN ARE ALL BAD AND TO REPLACE WILL BE $5500. I JUST REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN NOV OF 2014 AT A COST TO ME OF $800. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $1500 TO FIX, SO I HAD IT FIXED AT ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP. THEN I FIND OUT WHILE BROWSING AROUND MY ONSTAR ACCOUNT THAT THERE ARE 2 EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR THE TIMING CHAIN. WHY DIDN'T THE DEALER KNOW THAT? NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AGAIN BECAUSE I'M 188 MILES PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I CALLED A REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP TO GET A QUOTE FOR THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY REPAIRED 2 OF THE SAME VEHICLE LAST WEEK AND CANNOT GET A GM TRANSMISSION DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER BECAUSE GM KNOWS THEY ARE FAULTY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. GM SHOULD HAVE TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER GM VEHICLE.
ENGINE STARTED A FIRE. DESTROYED OUR ATTACHED GARAGE, THE CAR AND OUR DAUGHTERS CAR. HEAVY SMOKE DAMAGE IN OUR HOUSE. FIRE MARSHAL AND INSURANCE INSPECTED STATED THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE OF THE EQUINOX. WE DROVE THE CAR DURING DAY AND THEN AT 8:00PM CAME HOME FROM DINNER. AROUND 12:15AM HEARD NOISES IN GARAGE OPENED THE DOOR AND FRONT OF ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. CALLED 911 AND TOLD FAMILY TO GET OUT OF HOUSE.
2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FUEL CONTROL SYSTEM RECALL NOTICE AND SEVERAL VEHICLE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED A WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED A MODULE. THE SECOND TIME THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, THE TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED. ALSO, THE ENGINE WAS NOISY. IN SEPTEMBER 2014, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. IN NOVEMBER 2014, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE STEERING LOCKING UP. THE CONDENSER HAD A SMALL PIN HOLE, THAT CAUSED FLUID TO LEAK OUT. THE COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED. *JB
VEHICLE RAN ROUGH, NOISE FROM ENGINE NOTED . SEVERAL TIMES TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. 77K MILES ENGINE WOULD NOT START. "TIMING "JUMPED 4 NOTCHES, NO COMPRESSION IN CYLINDERS" PER DEALER . DEALER WANTED $3500 TO "DIAGNOSE" DAMAGE NOT INCLUDING REPAIR, INSTALLED USED MOTOR AT COST OF $4000. NO HELP FROM DEALER OR GM AS VEHICLE WAS 5 MONTHS OUT OF "5 YEAR WARRANTY".
NO WARNING PRIOR... MY HUSBAND AND I WERE RUNNING ERRANDS AND HAD STOPPED AT HOME. AFTER BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, HE WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT. IT JUST SAT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. WE CUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT WENT INTO DRIVE. GOT A 1/10 OF A MILE DOWN THE ROAD AND IT STOPPED PULLING AND SEEMED TO BE IN NEUTRAL AGAIN. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET IT PUSHED BACK HOME. WE PUT ABOUT A 1/2 QT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID IN IT, THINKING MAYBE IT WAS LOW (SINCE YOU CAN'T CHECK THESE MODELS WITH A DIPSTICK). MY HUSBAND TRIED BACKING IT OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND BACK TO SEE IF THAT HELPED, AT THIS POINT IT WOULD GO INTO GEAR BUT IT SHIFTED VERY HARD. THAT MONDAY WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN GO INTO GEAR TO GET IT OFF THE TRUCK. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE TRANSMISSION SHOP AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS MAJOR AND WE ARE LOOKING AT LOTS OF MONEY TO GET THIS REPAIRED.
WHEN DRIVING, MY CARS TRANSMISSION HESITATES. IT FEELS LIKE ITS LOSING POWER. ALSO FEELS LIKE THERE'S A MISFIRE. IT'S VERY ANNOYING AND NOT SURE HOW CHEVY CAN MAKE A TRANSMISSION LIKE THIS. THIS IS WHY I DON'T BUY AMERICAN VEHICLES. NO DEALERSHIP WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'M VERY UPSET. I'M A SINGLE FATHER IN THE MILITARY, I NEED A DECENT VEHICLE AND DON'T MAKE MUCH. AFTER PUTTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION, THE KEY WILL NOT TURN ON OR OFF AND THE KEY IS NOW STUCK IN THE IGNITION.
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN A RAINSTORM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING HOME, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE REVERSE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE WAVE PLATES FAILED AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. HEATER WILL NOT HEAT AT ALL. BLOWS COLD AIR. CAR IS 2010 !!! *TR
INTERMITTENTLY, THE STEERING WAS SERIOUSLY COMPROMISED WHEN DRIVEN. CONTACTED GM AND THEY SENT ME TO A GM CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP/TECHNICIAN. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE (DUE TO A "TWISTED STEERING SHAFT") AND STEERING COULD COMPLETELY FAIL AT ANY TIME. I ESCALATED THE ISSUE TO A CHEVROLET SENIOR ADVISOR IN DETROIT. THE SENIOR ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS FOR THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. I INFORMED THE ADVISOR THAT THIS DEFECT COULD INJURE / KILL SOMEONE IF NOT MADE PUBLIC. HE INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO FURTHER... I JUST DON'T WANT SOMEONE TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. PLEASE INFORM THE PUBLIC OF THIS ISSUE!!!
CAR RADIO DISPLAY DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN STARTING CAR. IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY START PLAYING SOMETIMES 10 MINS AFTER DRIVING OR NOT AT ALL. AC WENT OUT ON CAR AT 89000 MILES. PRETTY LOUSY CONSIDERING IT IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. ALSO MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS NOT SHIFTING. SOUND NEVER GOES AWAY. *TR
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO WE TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR A $300 CHECK UP & COMPLAINED THAT WHEN WE STARTED IT UP IT SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS NO OIL. DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. JUST ABOUT 10DAYS AGO ANOTHER NOISE WAS HEARD. IT GOT WORSE. TOOK IT IN & THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK. WE JUST HAD THE OIL CHANGED ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AGO. OH YES AT THAT TIME IT KEPT LEAKING OIL WHEN PARKED. TOOK IT BACK 3 TIMES TO HAVE IT CORRECTED. NOW THEY HAVE SEALED EVERYTHING OFF & THEY WILL CHECK THE OIL IN 500 MILES. MAY NEED PISTONS & RINGS. THEY TELL ME THIS IS HAPPENING TO THE 2010 EQUINOX CARS. LOOK UP OUR RECORD. WE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF TIMES FOR OTHER THINGS. 1 PART 3 TIMES IN 9 MTHS. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS FAILED TO CLOSE. THE THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,980.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 4/20/15*CN
TRACTION CONTROL MALFUNCTION AND MADE THE CAR GO INTO LOW POWER MODE, HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY, RESTART IT MANY TIME TO GO AGAIN. *TR
AIR COMPRESSOR- HAS GONE OUT AND THE CAUSE FOR IT WAS WHEN I HAD A RECALL FIXED. CHEVROLET HAS STATED THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND NOW AS A COLLEGE STUDENT I HAVE TO PAY $1000 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I EXPECTED A RELIABLE CAR AND AFTER MORE THAN 5 TIMES IN THE SHOP I REALLY WISH I WOULD HAVE STUCK WITH MY 2001 VEHICLE WHICH WAS MORE RELIABLE THAN WHAT THIS EQUINOX WILL EVER BE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROST SYSTEM FAILED TO OPERATE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V489000 (VISIBILITY). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL IN PLACE FOR THE TIMING CHAIN AND FUEL PUMP IN THIS VEHICLE. BOTH ITEMS WERE REPLACED AT 30,00 MILE AND NOW 107,000 MILES LATER THE SAME PROBLEM IS OCCURRING AND BOTH OF THESE ITEMS NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND INSTEAD OF GM RECOGNIZING THE RECALL THEY SAY THAT THEY CAN ONLY PROVIDE $300.00 TOWARDS THE REPAIR COST OF THE VEHICLE. GM NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE THAT NOT EVERY SINGLE VEHICLE IS GOING TO BE THE SAME AND NOT ALL VEHICLES ARE GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS AT EXACTLY THE SAME MILEAGE, IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PARTS IN THE VEHICLE AND YOU REPLACED THOSE PARTS WHEN THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 30,000 MILES ON IT AND THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING AGAIN 107,000 MILES LATER THEN THERE IS OBVIOUSLY STILL A PROBLEM. MY 2010 EQUINOX WAS TAKEN IN TO MY MECHANIC TO CHECK MY OIL AS IT WAS BLACK AND SMELT BURNT AND THEY NOTICED THAT I WAS DOWN TO 1/2 QT IN LESS THAN 500 MILES...THE LAST OIL CHANGE THEY CHECKED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BUT FOUND NO LEAKS AND SUGGESTED TO TAKE IT IN TO A CHEVY DEALER...I WAS UNDER THEIR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AT THE TIME. OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, FRONT SEAL, REAR SEAL AND NUMEROUS OIL CHANGES IN BETWEEN... RIGHT UP TILL THE LAST WEEK OF THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY... I DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER 2000 MILES AND HAD TO ADD OIL UP TO 4 QUARTS EVERY 500 MILES...I TOOK IT IN ONCE AGAIN IN REGARDS TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND THEY PERFORMED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHICH THE VEHICLE FAILED MISERABLY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE PISTONS AND RINGS IN CONCERT WITH GM'S WARRANTY COVERING THE REPLACEMENT OF PISTONS AND RINGS IN REGARDS TO THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS NOW BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT ACCORDING TO BULLETIN PIP 5025,(05-16-2012) TWO ITEMS OF CONCERN ARE BROUGHT TO MIND...ONE THE VEHICLE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST FAILED ORIGINALLY, AND FROM ALL OTHER SOURCES BREAK IN PERIOD FOR PISTONS AND RINGS SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 2000 MILES AT A LOSS OF 1 QT PER 1000 MILES. TWO...I LOST 4 QUARTS IN A 500 MILE DURATION. WHILE DRIVING 55MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY. SHORTLY AFTER, A MESSAGE READING "SERVICE STABILI TRAK" APPEARED. THEN, ANOTHER MESSAGE APPEARED "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". MY CAR STARTED SHAKING FIERCELY AND I COULD NOT GO ABOVE 30MPH. I FELT LIKE I WAS SITTING ON A TICKING TIME BOMB. THEN, THE CAR SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY. I TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR. IT SEEMED FINE BUT MINUTES LATER THE SAME THINGS HAPPENED. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS. I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING CODES: U0100 (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE), P0324 (KNOCK CONTROL SYSTEM), & P2135 (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR). I THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHO KEPT MY VEHICLE 5 DAYS. DURING THIS TIME, THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM, COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE, AND RETURNED MY VEHICLE TO ME. THEY SAID THEY COMPLETED A RESET ON THE VEHICLE & THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE RESOLVED. GM DID A RECALL ON THE RINGS AND PISTONS OF MY CAR. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND TOLD THE DEALERSHIP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THAT IT WAS USING TOO MUCH OIL. THEY CHECKED IT AND TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE, TO KEEP ADDING OIL AND THAT THE CAR "JUST USES OIL." NOW AT 98,000 MILES LATER THEY DO A RECALL AND SAY THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ONLY FIXED THE RINGS AND PISTONS, WHICH IS ONLY PART OF THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS USING 1 - 1.5 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. COMMON SENSE AND MECHANICS TELL ME THAT IF A VEHICLE IS USING THAT MUCH OIL WHERE IS ALL THE EXHAUST AND EMISSIONS GOING, IT IS GOING THROUGH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SINCE I AM USING THREE TO FOUR TIMES THE AMOUNT OF OIL THAT SHOULD BE USED, THEN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS WORKING HARDER. NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND AFTER HAVING IT TESTED, GM HAS INFORMED ME THAT I NEED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER BECAUSE IT IS CLOGGED UP. IT MAKES SINCE THAT IT WOULD BE CLOGGED UP SINCE I AM BURNING THIS EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL DUE TO THE FAULTY RINGS AND PISTONS THAT GM HAS ALREADY AGREED WAS WRONG IN THE FIRST PLACE. NOW, THEY ARE WANTING TO CHARGE ME $1100.00 FOR A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND REPLACED DURING THE RECALL. MY CAR IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN I DIDN'T NEED AN OIL CHANGE LEFT AND I JUST REPLENISHED OIL BUT WHEN I CHECKED IT WAS EMPTY. I PUT MORE OIL IN THE CAR AND SCHEDULED AN OIL CHANGE. THE TECHNICIAN CHECKED MY TIRES AND DID THE OIL CHANGE AND THE CAR APPEARED TO WORK FINE. 3 DAYS LETTER I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. AND INSTEAD OF ONE TIRE NONE OF MY TIRES ARE BEING READ ON THE CAR AND WHEN TRACTION CONTROL IS ON IT RIDES ROUGH. 5ODAY ALONE MY CAR SHUT OFF 7 TIMES WHILE I WAS STUCK 9J A MAJOR HIGHWAY. A MECHANIC IN MY BUILDING LOOKED AT MY CAR AND SAID THAT THERE IS OIL LEAKING ONTO THE ENGINE BLOCK AS WELL. *TR
I AM LOSING A LOT OF OIL WITHIN THE 3000 MILES BEFORE I CHANGE IT. MY CAR IS LOSING POWER IT STALLS IT RUNS VERY LOUDLY AND IT KNOCKS A LITTLE. I PUT AT LEAST 12 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 3000 MILES AND IT'S NOT LEAKING BECAUSE I CHECKED THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM OF THE MOTOR AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF OIL ANYWHERE NOT EVEN OUT OF MY TAIL PIPE. *TR
