APPROX 6 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR - NEW THE AIR BAG SERVICE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE - REPLACED THE AIR BAG HARNESS. ABOUT 6- 8 MONTHS LATER AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN, PLUS THE TRACTION CONTROL ALARM. CALLED IN FOR SERVICE REPLACED THE AIR BAG HARNESS AGAIN- CALLED ABOUT SERVICE, THAN THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. ABOUT 6- 8 MONTHS LATER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON A LONG TRIP (600 MILES), CAME HOME NOTHING. IN OCT 2012 THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN REPLACED THE AIR BAG HARNESS AGAIN, ALL OUT OF MY POCKET - NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. LASTED ABOUT 6 WEEKS, ALL ALARMS WARNING GOING OFF, AIR BAG, TRACTION, AND NOW THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS OFF, AND OIL LIGHT WARNING. TOOK CAR BACK TO ORIGINAL DEALER, STATED ENTIRE AIR BAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, CAN'T FIND A REASON FOR THE TRACTION? I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. IT HAS BEEN 4 WEEKS SINCE MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALER, NO ALARMS UNTIL YESTERDAY, NOW THE AIR BAG ALARM IS GOING OFF EVERY 2.5 MINUTES, VERY ANNOYING IF YOU ARE IN THE CAR TRAVELING FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES. I ASKED THE DEALER TO MAKE ME AN OFFER ON THIS LEMON OF A CAR. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRONICS ON THIS CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE STABILITY TRACK WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL JERK SENSATION. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 6,480.
WHILE MY VEHICLE IS MOVING/DRIVING I HEAR A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR..I THINK IT'S THE FRONT OR REAR SUSPENSION LEAF SPRING AREA. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE SUN WAS SHINING ON THE CHROME LATCH OF THE STORAGE COMPARTMENT OVER THE DASHBOARD, THE GLARE FROM THE SUN WOULD OBSTRUCT THE CONTACT'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED IN THAT MANNER AND THERE WAS NO REPAIR AVAILABLE FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 2,472. UPDATED 09/09/10. *LJ UPDATED 09/10/10
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD USE HIGHER GRADE FUEL TO QUIET THE NOISE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO REMEDIES FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,500.
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ROUGH SHIFTS (CLUNKS INTO GEAR) WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTS UP INTO 3RD GEAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT WENT AHEAD AND FLASHED THE ECU. THE VEHICLE WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS THEN BEGAN TO DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. AT TIMES IT CLUNKS SO HARD IT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE HIT SOMETHING. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINS ON EDMUNDS ABOUT ROUGH SHIFTS UP AND DOWN GEARS. THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER COMPLAINT ON HERE. GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE OR REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. *TR
PURCHASE VEHICLE IN AUGUST 2009. INSTRUMENT PANEL FAULTY WITHIN MONTHS OF PURCHASE. WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER & LIGHTS ON DASH GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY. RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE CONCERNING THIS ISSUE IN APRIL 2010. PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. HAVE BEEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES. HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GENERAL MOTORS IN DETROIT. DEALERSHIP NOR GENERAL MOTORS ARE RETURNING OUR CALLS OR FIXING THE PROBLEM. ONLY 17546 MILES ARE ON THIS VEHICLE. LIGHTS AND DEFROSTER GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING CAUSING US TO BE VERY INSECURE TO TAKE IT ANYWHERE FOR FEAR IT WILL HAPPEN WHILE WE ARE OUT. *TR
AT 13,000 MILES THE FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, FUEL LEVEL SENSOR REPLACED. AT 56,000 MILES THE WATER PUMP AND BALANCE SHAFT CHAINS WERE REPLACED AFTER THE CAR BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. AT 64,000 MILES THE CAMSHAFT POSITION ACUTATOR AND SOLENOID VALVES WERE REPLACED AFTER ANOTHER HIGHWAY BREAKDOWN. AT 69,000 MILES THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED FOR A BREAKDOWN ONCE AGAIN. AT 81,000 MILES THE FUEL PUMP AND BALANCE SHAFT CHAINS WERE REPLACED ONCE AGAIN AFTER A BREAKDOWN. AT 90,000 MILES THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE WAVE PLATE WAS REPLACED AND METAL DEBRIS WAS FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION. *TR

SENSOR FAILURE DUE TO USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES(CELL PHONE, GPS, LAPTOP, OR ANYTHING THAT CAN INTERFERE WITH AIRWAY FREQUENCY WAVES) IN VEHICLE. ISSUE OCCURS ON OCCASION WHEN USING CELL PHONE IN CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. BOUGHT A CHEVY 2010 EQUINOX BACK IN NOVEMBER OF THIS YR., AT 5,000 MILES I NOTICED A SECONDARY NOISE RATTLING/KNOCKING TYPE OF SOUND COMING FROM MY ENGINE (AT ACCELERATION). BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 3X NO RESULTS. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS BOTH NOTICED AND OBSERVED THE NOISE AND BOTH SEEM TO BELIEVE THE NOISE IS LACK OF FUEL GETTING TO THE ENGINE CAUSING MINI EXPLOSIONS TO THE ENGINE, THEREFORE CAUSING HOLES IN THE PISTONS WHICH WOULD CAUSE FURTHER ENGINE DAMAGE. I CONTACTED GM AND THE DEALERSHIP BOTH IGNORE THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE AT THIS TIME, LATER FOUND OUT FROM THE GM DEALERSHIPS SERVICE STATION THAT ACCORDING TO GM TECH ASSIST THAT THERE ARE 20 OTHER CASES LIKE MINE THAT THEY WERE NOTIFIED OF AND GM IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT, THIS TO ME IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. NOW I HAVE MORE MILES AND THE NOISE IS GETTING LOUDER AND MORE FREQUENT. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR KNOWING THAT MY ENGINE COULD BE SEVERELY AFFECTED. I BOUGHT A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX IN NOV 2009. WHENEVER A PASSENGER RIDES WITH ME USING A LAPTOP THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES "OFF" AND THE DASHBOARD COMPUTER DISPLAY SAYS "SERVICE PASSENGER AIRBAG." IT'S CONSISTENT AND VERY MUCH A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE USING THE LAPTOP. BOUGHT A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX ON OCT. 31ST..HAVE HAD IT 5 MONTHS AND HAS 5,500 MILES ON THE MOTOR IS MAKING A SEVERE OR REALLY LOUD TICKING NOISE. TOOK IT TO 2 CHEVY DEALERS AND THEY TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL BUT WHEN YOU START ONE UP ON THE LOT IT MAKES NO WHERE NEAR THE NOISE MINE DOES. THEY TELL ME IT IS NORMAL FOR THIS KIND OF FUEL INJECTORS AND REFUSE TO FIX IT. WAS NOT LOUD AT ALL WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NOW IT JUST KEEPS GETTING LOUDER. I HAVE A 2010 EQUINOX LTZ WITH ABOUT 11,000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS RECENTLY IN FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE PART THAT OPERATES THE RADIO AND HEAT/AIR CONTROLS (THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS). I HAVE RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT IF YOU HOLD DOWN THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE REMOTE THAT ALL FOUR WINDOWS WILL ROLL DOWN AND THE CAR WILL BE UNLOCKED. THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION ON THIS IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS A BUILT-IN FEATURE TO COOL OFF THE CAR ON HOT DAYS. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE REMOTE COULD ACCIDENTALLY BE ACTIVATED AS I AM LEAVING THE VEHICLE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME OR AT NIGHT. *TR
2010 EQUINOX 4000 MILES. WHEN DRIVING A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE COMES FROM ENGINE. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SERP BELT THE FIRST TIME. STILL SQUEALING AND TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT WEEK WHERE THEY STATE IT WAS THE PWER STEERING GEAR. REPLACED THE POWER STEERING GEAR AND CAR STILL MAKES THE SAME NOISE. ON MY THIRD ATTEMPT TO REPLACE A RANDOM ENGINE PART PICKED OUT BY WHATEVER MACHINING IS FREE FOR THE DAY. *TR

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HESITATED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12. CALLED GM, THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO BE CHECKED OUT. I WILL WAIT UNTIL IT DOES IT AGAIN TO TAKE IT IN. MY 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX HAS AN AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK FEATURE WHICH AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS ALL DOORS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO GEAR. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF BY ACCIDENT, HIGH WATER, OR SOME OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE, THE POWER LOCKS AND WINDOWS BECOME INOPERATIVE AS A RESULT OF ELECTRONIC FAILURE, AND OCCUPANTS BECOME TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. THE DOOR LOCK POST CANNOT BE GRASPED WHEN IN LOCKED POSITION. THE DEALER INFORMS ME THIS FEATURE CANNOT BE TURNED OFF. THERE HAS BEEN NO INCIDENT. I HAVE TO FILL IN THE INCIDENT DATE IN ORDER TO FILE THE COMPLAINT. *TR
ON 09/04/09 I BOUGHT A NEW 2010 EQUINOX AND WITHIN 3,000 MILES I BEGAN EXPERIENCING SIGNIFICANT SHIFTING ISSUES AND ROUGH IDLING/STALLING AT STOPS. ON 01/08/10 I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE SHOP FOR THE 4TH TIME IN 60 DAYS FOR THESE PROBLEMS. VERY CONCERNING IS THAT EVERY TIME I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE A NEW GM SERVICE BULLETIN EXISTS FOR THESE PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, GM IS NOT PROACTIVELY ADDRESSING THESE KNOWN ISSUES WITH BUYERS. RATHER THE ONUS HAS BEEN PUT INTO THE BUYERS HANDS. WHY IF THEY KNOW A PROBLEM EXISTS ARE THEY NOT OBLIGATED TO CONTACT BUYERS? THERE ARE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF OTHERS EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS YOU WILL FIND ON THE WEB, IE EDMUNDS. GM BULLETIN 4469G-METAL SHAVING LEFT BEHIND IN THE TRANNY. REPLACE OIL, REPLACE ACTUATOR SOLENOIDS DUE TO DEBRIS BUILD-UP. #2) 12/15/09-2,713 MILES: ROUGH IDLING/HESITATION. REPLACED OIL LIKE BEFORE, NO DEBRIS. SERVICE BULLETIN FOR ECM UPDATE FOR TCM AND PCM. SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD SEVERAL OTHER BUYERS EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS. #3) 12/22/09-2,939 MILES: UNABLE TO MERGE ONTO THRUWAY AND GET UP TO SPEED DO TO BUCKING AND VEHICLE NOT ACCELERATING/SHIFTING. ALMOST INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT TRYING TO MERGE AND GAIN SPEED. BUCKING AT STOPS AND STALLING. SERVICE CODE P0011 FOUND IN COMPUTER FOR INTAKE POSITION SYSTEM FAILURE. NEEDED 2 CAM SHAFT ACTUATORS AGAIN. REPLACED OIL & FILTER. 01/08/10-~3,900MILES: CONTINUED ROUGH IDLE. POOR/HARD SHIFTING/HESITATION TO SHIFT ESPECIALLY IN 3 & 4 GEAR. IN 3 & 4 ENGINE SOUNDS MUFFLED AND STRUGGLES TO GAIN SPEED AS IF THE TRAN IS UP-SHIFTING TOO QUICKLY. WHEN UP-SHIFTING IN HIGHER GEARS IT HESITATES AND THEN JOLTS. IN SUMMARY, I AM TAKING VEHICLE IN FOR THE 4TH TIME, SAME PROBLEMS. NYS LEMON LAW BEING CONSIDERED. EACH TIME I HAVE LOST VEHICLE. *TR

IT FIRST OCCURRED ON 1 DEC 09, AGAIN ON 2 JAN 10, AND SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. VEHICLE EXAMINED BY LANDERS-MCLARTY CHEVROLET IN HUNTSVILLE AL, THEY WITNESSED PROBLEM BUT COULD NOT FIX OR REMEDY. THEY OPENED A TECHNICAL CASE #11124962, AND GM OPENED CASE #71-790900576. NO FIX TO DATE, ALTHOUGH THEY PROMISE THAT A SOLUTION IS BEING WORKED. SEVERAL SAFETY ISSUES ARE PRESENTED BY THE CONSOLE?S ERRATIC OPERATION (SOMETIMES IT WORKS, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T). IT IS WINTER NOW, AND WHEN THE CONSOLE IS OUT, THE HEATER, DEFROSTER, DOOR LOCKS, HAZARD LIGHTS AND ON-BOARD WARNING SYSTEM (VIA THE MENU BUTTON) DO NOT WORK. STARTING AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF 20-PLUS TIMES (DEALERS RECOMMENDED TEMP FIX TO RE-SET SYSTEM) DOES NOT SEEM LIKE A VIABLE SOLUTION, AND IT CERTAINLY PRESENTS ADDED STRESS ON THE STARTER AND CAUSES EXCESSIVE ENGINE WEAR IN COLD TEMPERATURES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX IN A STRAIGHT LINE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME THE STEERING WHEEL BINDS UP AND YOU HAVE TO GIVE A TUG TO GET IT FREED UP. IT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND AFTER THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED IT STILL DOES IT. I OPENED A FILE WITH CHEVY ON THE PROBLEM AND THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED WAS THAT IS THE WAY THE NEW STEERING IS DESIGNED. NOTHING COMES UP ON THE SCANNER SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM,YET THE SERVICE MANAGER TOOK THE CAR HOME HIMSELF AND HE ADMITTED IT HAPPENED TO HIM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWN A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHROME ON THE DASHBOARD IMPAIRED HIS VISION DUE TO GLARE ON THE CHROME KNOB WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH. THE DEALER STATED THEIR WAS NO ALTERNATIVE PART TO REPLACE THE KNOB; THEREFORE, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,338.
I OWN A 2010 EQUINOX AND WHEN DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT PATH FOR A PERIOD OF TIME THE STEERING WHEEL BINDS UP/STICKS AND I HAVE TO TUG ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO FREE IT. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE IT BUT AM FEARFUL OF A SUDDEN FAILURE AT HIGH SPEED WHILE CHANGING LANES, ETC. *TR
ROUGH IDLE DURING COLD START OF MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX 2.4L 4 CYLINDER ENGINE ENGINE IDLES ROUGH AND MISSES UNTIL IT WARMS UP WHEN IT GETS BELOW 40 DEGREES TOOK CAR TO DEALER AT 2,000 MILES IN NOVEMBER, THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND TO SPECIFICATIONS. SAID THEY WOULD KEEP A EYE OUT FOR SERVICE BULLETINS ON COLD STARTING, NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. CAR CONTINUE TO RUN ROUGH ON COLD START. FOUND ON MY OWN A GM SERVICE BULLETIN IN DEC. #P00010 ON COLD START REQUIRE CALIBRATION OF ENGINE. CALLED DEALER TOLD THEM WHERE TO FIND SERVICE BULLETIN THEY FOUND IT AND THEN TOOK THE CAR IN . SAME PROBLEM STILL EXISTS EVEN AFTER TWO SERVICE VISITS. THE DEALER SAYS "THEY WILL KEEP THEIR EYE OUT FOR ANOTHER SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE COLD WEATHER STARTING" AS EVERYTHING IS UP TO SPECIFICATIONS ON THE CAR. THE CAR STILL RUNS ROUGH AND MISSES UNTIL IT WARMS UP. *TR
WE PURCHASED A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX AUG. 20, 2009 AND FAILED TO CHECK WHERE THE FUEL FILL DOOR WAS LOCATED. IT IS ON THE RIGHTHAND SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS THE WRONG SIDE. IT CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN GETTING FUEL. ( GETTING OUT INTO STATION TRAFFIC, WALKING BETWEEN CARS AND BEING A LONGER DISTANCE FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR WHEN MOST PEOPLE LEAVE THEIR KEYS IN THE CAR WHEN FUELING. THE VEHICLES DARTS QUICKLY WHEN TRAVELING WHICH IS NOTICEABLE IN THE BACK SEAT. (MAY BE CAUSED BY VEHICLE STABILITY SYSTEM) THE FRONT DOORS ARE LOCATED SO THAT I BUMP MY HEAD (HAVE CUT MY HEAD) UNLESS THE SEAT IS BACK AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. GM HAS NO RETROFIT TO MOVE FUEL FILL DOOR OR UNIT TO PUT SEATS BACK TO GIVE MORE HEAD ROOM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE LOWER BODY MOLDING DETACHED FROM THE FRONT WHEEL OPENING, AND THEN TO THE REAR WHEEL OPENING . HIS LEG WAS CUT AS A CONSEQUENCE BECAUSE THE CORNERS OF THE DOORS BECAME EXTREMELY SHARP. HE SENT THE MANUFACTURER PICTURES OF HIS INJURIES. HE WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALER. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ON A SUNNY DAY THE CONTACT STATED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STORAGE LOCK DISTORTED HIS VISION WHILE DRIVING. HE STATED THAT THE SUN REFLECTS ON THE CHROME LOCK AND IMPAIRS HIS VISION. THE CONTACT STATED HE SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,204.
2010 CHEVY EQUINOX. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE "POWERED DOWN" *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DASHBOARD READ OBD2 MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP SERVICE REQUIRED AND THE STABILI-TRAK LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE THEN RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER REGARDING THE SOFTWARE IN THE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH COULD CAUSE THE HEATING, AIR CONDITION, DEFROSTER, RADIO CONTROL AS WELL AS THE PANEL ILLUMINATION TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE LIGHTS WERE IN FACT FLICKERING AND THEN THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT OUT, POWERED ON A LITTLE AND THEN DIMMED AGAIN. *JB
MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX LS STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING. THE ELECTRICAL ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE AN ISSUE WHERE THE RADIO WILL START FLASHING AND THE AIR BAG WARNING KEEPS COMING ON EVEN AFTER THEY HAVE STATED ALL OF THE ISSUES HAVE BEEN FIXED AND PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN I HAVE OWNED IT. I AM SCARED FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY. *TR
MY VEHICLE HAS SIMILAR ISSUES THAT OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT: (1) LOSS OF POWER ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER PRESSING ACCELERATOR PEDAL DOWN TO GAIN SPEED. ENGINE HAS HESITATED AND BACK-FIRED. (2) EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION STILL REMAINS AN ISSUES EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BROUGHT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. (3) CLANGING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHICH I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TURNED OUT TO BE A TIMING BELT ISSUE. VEHICLE LOST MOST POWER AND I BARELY GOT THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN I WENT TO START VEHICLE NEXT DAY TO BRING TO A REPAIR SHOP, ONLY THE STARTER WAS SPINNING [ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER AS I FOUND OUT THE TIMING BELT DISINTEGRATED]. BY NOT KNOWING THERE WAS A SPECIAL COVERAGE BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM [EXTENDS FOR 10 YEARS/120,000 MILES I BELIEVE], MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION AND SAID ALTHOUGH MY REGULAR WARRANTY ENDED, I SHOULD BRING TO DEALER. IT WAS REPLACED FOR FREE BY DEALER DUE TO SPECIAL COVERAGE IN NOVEMBER 2014 [OVER 4 YEARS OF COMPLAINING ABOUT EXCESSIVE ENGINE NOISE]. BROKEN TIMING BELT CREATED DAMAGE INSIDE THE ENGINE BUT DEALER COVERED ALL DAMAGE. AFTER THE TIMING BELT WAS REPLACED, IT SOUNDED LIKE I HAD A WHOLE NEW ENGINE AS IT WAS SO QUIET. THERE IS STILL A SMALL RATTLING NOISE DURING START-UP, BUT GOES AWAY AFTER ENGINE RUNS. (4) GAS MILEAGE NEVER HAS COME CLOSE TO CHEVROLET'S REPORTED ESTIMATES FOR THIS VEHICLE [I GET ABOUT 20 MPG ON FLAT HIGHWAYS].
