I'VE TAKEN MY EQUINOX TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND NO ONE EVER TOLD ME ANYTHING ABOUT IT . MY VEHICLE USES AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL AFTER . MY OIL CHANGES HAVE TO BE EVERY 3 WEEKS. . WHEN TURNING ON MY VEHICLE IT SOUNDS LIKE A TRACTOR IS READY TO GO. I HAVE A SMALL SUV THAT I KNOW NEVER MADE THAT LOUD NOISE.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the turn signals and the speed odometer were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The contact was informed that there were no open recalls on the VIN for the failure. Additionally, the contact was advised to take the vehicle where the vehicle was purchased for the repair. The contact stated that the vehicle had several failures since purchasing the vehicle three years ago. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I RECENTLY FOUND MY SON'S DEFROST WAS NOT WORKING ON HIS 2010 EQUINOX. AS I WAS SEARCHING FOR TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION, I FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE HOWEVER MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL. MY ASSUMPTION IS THEY DID NTO ACCURATELY BOOKEND THIS ISSUE.
MY VEHICAL IS BURNIG OIL I HAVE CHAGED MY OIL TWICE ALREADY THIS YEAR I JUST CHANGED TWO SENSORS NOW IM GETTING A CODE FOR THE CONVERTER
AFTER REFUELING VEHICLE, I NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR THAT DID NOT GO AWAY FOR SEVERAL DAYS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE THE A CHEVY DEALER WHO IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS A CRACKED FUEL TANK CONNECTOR, AS SHOWN IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO. APPARENTLY GM HAS RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE AND HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE PART, AS SHOWN IN THE SECOND ATTACHED PHOTO. THIS VEHICLE HAS UNDER 80K MILES, HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, NOR HAD ANY OTHER INCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE PART FAILURE. THE FAILURE APPEARS TO BE A STRESS CRACK DUE TO A DEFECTIVE, OVER-STRESSED, POORLY DESIGNED, OR POORLY ASSEMBLED PART. IN SHORT, THIS PART SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. FURTHERMORE, THE FAILURE REPRESENTS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, DUE TO THE FUEL LEAK THAT OCCURRED. THE REPAIR WAS ON THE ORDER OF $1500, BECAUSE THE DEALER INDICATED THAT BOTH THE GAS TANK AND FILLER NECK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SUBSTANTIAL REPAIR FOR A RELATIVELY LOW-MILEAGE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FAILED TO MOVE UP AND DOWN. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF OIL. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED SANDS CHEVROLET ' SURPRISE (16991 W WADDELL RD, SURPRISE, AZ 85388, (623) 428-1865) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FAILURE WAS LIKE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V447000 (SEATS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
CAR WONT TURN ON AND KEYS STUCK IN IGNITION I CAN'T LOCK MY CAR
NO ONE TOLD ME WHEN I GOT THIS CAR HOW BAD THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS! I GO THROUGH 5 QUARTS OF OIL IN LESS THAN 2,000 MILES. IT'S STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. IT'S SUPER DANGEROUS
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated to approximately 75 MPH. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The vehicle stalled, and the contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer it was purchased from. The dealer informed the contact that there was no oil in the vehicle even though an oil change had been performed on the vehicle. The dealer replaced the upper part of the engine; however, the failure recurred while driving. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering, made abnormal sounds and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the lower part of the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for the VIN to be added in an unknown related recall. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
I TOOK MY SUV TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 1-8-2020 AND INFORMED THEM THAT ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON,AND HAD A LITTLE SHAKE, FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF,AND IT WAS BURNING OIL,LEFT VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, GOT A CALL SAYING THERE WAS NO OIL ON DIP STICK, SO THERE WAS A OIL CHANGE DID, AND TOLD TO DRIVE FOR 1000 MILES THEN RETURN FOR RECHECK,POSSIBLE CAMSHAFT POSITION FAULT,DROVE CAR ,BUT BEFORE IT MEET THE 1000 MILES IN HAD TO ADD A QUART OF OIL TO VEHICLE THIS WAS OVER THE WEEKEND, CALLED AND INFORMED DEALERSHIP THEY SAID TO BRING IT BACK SO THEY COULD CHECK IT, TOOK SUV BACK AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND NOTHING WRONG, BUT IT WAS STILL TAKING ALOT OF OIL, NOW THE CAMSHAFT IS NO GOOD, THEY JUST DIDN'T WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS ON IT, NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS GONE THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR THE WORK,FYI THERE WAS A WARRANTY ON THE SUV WHEN I WAS COMPLAINING SO IT COULD HAVE BE FIXED THEN,THE SAME PROBLEM I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT,IS THE SAME PROBLEM I GOT NOW,WHY DO DEALERSHIPS ALWAYS GET OVER PEOPLE, THE CAMSHAFT WENT OUT 11-23-2020
2.4-LITER ECOTEC ENGINES SUFFER FROM THE DEFECT THAT CONSUMES OIL AT A VERY HIGH RATE. THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF THE DEFECT IS MALFUNCTIONING PISTON RINGS, WHICH ARE PRONE TO PREMATURE WEAR, THE JUDGE'S ORDER STATES. THE DEFECT NECESSITATES THE NEED FOR THE CAR OWNER TO REPLENISH THE CAR'S OIL MORE FREQUENTLY. WE CHANGE OIL EVERY MONTH BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT NOW IS WORSE BECAUSE IS COMING NOW WHITE SMOKE AND SHAKING ALL THE ENGINE SO ITS NOW OUT OF ROAD MY EQUINOX SO I AM WAITING FOR THIS SOLUTION FROM GM BUT NOT ANSWERS.
MY VEHICLE LEAKS A LOT OF OIL INTERNALLY. I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT MY INTAKE VALVES ARE COVERED IN OIL AND MY PISTONS ARE ALSO CONTAINING OIL. THE MECHANISM TO CONTROL/DRAIN THAT OIL DOESN'T WORK. BECAUSE OF THIS THE CAR IS KNOCKING AND STALLING AT IDLE.
JUST BOUGHT A 2010 CHEVY EQUONOX LTZ AND I COULDN'T GET THE SEAT BELT LATCHED. THIS MODEL OF THE EQUINOX ISNT ANY BETTER THAN MY 07 EQUINOX AS FAR AS BIG LARGE OR OBESE PERSONS AS I AM, GETTING THE SEAT BELT TO LATCH BEHIND ME. IT TORE THE SKIN OFF MY KNUCKLE AND O STILL COULDNT GET IT LATCHED. I JUST TEST DROVE IT WITHOUT IT BUCKLED . I EVEN PULLED OVER AND GOT OUT AND TRIED TO PULL UP ON THE STATIONARY CONNECTION PIECE BUT IT DONT BUDGE . WHOEVER DESIGNED THESE 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX FUD A VERY POOR JOB ON NOT THINKING OF LARGE FOLKS WHO DRIVE THESE SUVS. I STILL CAN'T GET IT LATCHED. I HAVE TO BUY AN EXTENSION PART THAT WILL CLICK IN THE FEMALE PART AND THEN EXTEND OUT A GOOD 5IN SO I CAN GET IT TO LATCH OR BUCKLE AND OPERATE VEHICLE SAFELY. I NOTICED THIS AS I GOT IN TO GO TEST DRIVE THIS 2010 EQUINOX LTZ. AND I COULD NOT GET IT TO LATCH I TRIED FOR 5 MINS AT THE DEALER LOCATION BUT DROVE OFF. PULLED OVER TRIED AGAIN, MO LUCK EITHER TIME. NOW AN EXTENSION WILL COST ME $15-20 AT LEAST. SO DOUBLE THAT BECAUSE IF I BUY ONE I'LL NEED ANOTHER FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEN MY WIFE DRIVES AND I'M THE PASSENGER SO THIS WILL COST ME $40 FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD OF BEEN ADDRESSED DURING MANUFACTURING. IT IS LOCATED CLEAR DOWN INSIDE BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE BACK REST OF THE SEAT. VERY POOR LOCATION. PEOPLE ARENT GOING TO FIGHT THE BELT AND WON'T WEAR IT NOW. THINK OF LARGE PEOPLE WHY DONT YOU. IT NEEDS RECALLED AND THAT LATCH NEEDS MOVED UP AND TO THE SIDE OF DRIVER NOT AROUND THE BACK OF THE DRIVER.
VEHICLE DOESN'T SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY. FREQUENT HESITATION AND SURGING HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING.
AFTER A SHORT WARM UP (5-10 MINUTES OF DRIVING), THE STEERING WHEEL WILL INTERMITTENTLY LOSE POWER AND IS DIFFICULT TO STEER. IT IT DOESN'T MATTER THE TYPE OR SPEED OF DRIVING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.
MY 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX TIMING CHAIN IS BAD AND LEAKS OIL HAD THE CAR NO LONGER THEN A YEAR THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN THE CHEVY EQUINOX I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND BAD TIMING CHAIN IS ONE OF THE NUMBER 1 PROBLEMS IN THESE CARS AND THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON BAD TIMING CHAINS I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 4 KIDS TRYING TO GET BY AND THIS IS MY ONLY CAR I HAVE ITS STALLS ON ME ALL THE TIME AND THERE ARE MANY TIMES IT WILL NOT STAY RUNNING AT ALL I AM ASKING TO PLEASE PAY TO HAVE IT FIX OR PAY HALF ITS A BEAUTIFUL CAR ITS SAD TO KNOW THIS IS A KNOWN FACTOR IN THESE CARS TO HAVE BAD TIMING CHAINS AND PISTON RINGS ON THE MOTOR BUT I AM MORE WORRY ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN I DO NOT HAVE $1200 TO $1800 FOR A NEW TIMINING OR CAR PLEASE HELP.

WHEN NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR LEFT HIS HOUSE, IN THE MORNING, HE NOTICED IT WAS RUNNING AND CHECKED TO SEE IF THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION, IT WASN'T, AND THEN IF WE WERE AROUND, WE WEREN'T. THEN HE TOUCHED THE HOOD OF THE CAR TO SEE IF IT WAS HOT, IT WASN'T AND WAITED UNTIL THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF. IT RAN FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES BEFORE IT TURNED OFF. WE WERE TOLD IN THE EVENING OF WHAT HAPPENED AND WENT TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD START WITH THE KEY AND IT DID.
I LOVE MY CAR WAS SO PROUD OF BESSY! I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND IT JUST STOPPED. WOULDN'T CRANK. GOT IT HOME TO BE TOLD THAT IT'S THE TIMING CHAIN. THAT'S $1000-$1500 THAT I DON'T HAVE. ESPECIALLY SINCE I'M TAKING CARE OF MY MOTHER N LAW SINCE MY FATHER N LAW DIED FROM CANCER. AND NOW MY HUSBAND CAN'T WORK DUE TO BEING ALMOST CRIPPLED. TURNS OUT THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE, ALMOST EVERYBODY WHO OWNS A CHEVY EQUINOX HAS THE SAME PROBLEM! WHY IS THIS?? WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN FIXED YET?? WHY KEEP MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN AGAIN?? NOW MY CAR IS SITTING IN THE YARD. I HAVE A 7 YR OLD SON THAT I CAN'T EVEN TAKE TO THE DOCTOR WITH NO WAY OF GOING OR THE REST OF MY FAMILY. POWER STEERING BECOMES STIFF AND VARIABLE. DOESN'T GO BACK TO CENTER AFTER TURNING. THIS PROBLEM COMES AND GOES.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY POWER ENGINE LITE COMES ON AND ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO CUT OFF , SOME TIMES IT DOES. MY ABS LITE COMES ON AT ANYTIME, WHEN COMING TO A STOP MY BRAKES SLIP AND ACTS LIKE IT DOES NOT WANT TO CATCH, BRAKES ARE NEW! ALSO THE 2010 USES ABOUT 4 TO 5 QT IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND THERE IS NO LEAKS. DEFOGGER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. AND KNOW HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS. HAVE CHANGED THE O2 SENSOR STILL SAYS THEY NEED TO BE CHANGED, HAVE CHANGED THE MANIFOLD AND SAYS THAT STILL NEEDS O BE CHANGED, ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. STABILLIY TRACK LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME AS WELL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER 6 YEARS!
VEHICLE JUST REACHED THE 100K MILE MARK. WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE TRANSMISSION WENT FULLY OUT OF COMMISSION. ALWAYS HAD OUR CHANGED AND ALL REPAIRS DONE AT DEALERSHIP. BRAKES REPLACED AND OIL CHANGED AT 104,976 WITH MULTIPOINT INSPECTION DONE AT DEALERSHIP. NO PROBLEMS REPORTED AT THIS TIME. TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 105,638.
MY VEHICLE WON'T START DUE TO CPU AND ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONING AND MY LOAN WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER THE DAMAGES AND I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS MILEAGE IS UNDER 105000. MY NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE POPS OFF MY VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN RANDOMLY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CUTS ON WHEN I HIT 3 RPMS
BRAKES APPLY BY THEMSELVES, BRINGING CAR TO A STOP. CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, INCLUDING WHEN TRYING TO CROSS A BUSY HIGHWAY, ETC.
A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO I STARTED EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH VEHICLE. AT SPEEDS OVER 60 THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE CAR WOULD DO A ROCKING MOTION. TODAY ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE THAN RANDOMLY A LIGHT POPPED ON THAT SAID LOW OIL CONSUMPTION TURN OFF ENGINE AND THE CAR BEGAN EXCESSIVELY SMOKING FROM UNDER HOOD. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED I THE OIL AND IT WAS EMPTY ADDED 4 QUARTS IT WAS STILL EMPTY LOOKED UNDER CAR AND OIL HAD LEAKED EVERYWHERE. NO PRIOR WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK OIL OR LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHTS WERE ON. I GET PROPER OIL CHANGES WHEN DUE. A COUPLE OF MOTHS BACK I WAS HAVING SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AS WELL WERE THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WOULD POP ON AND OFF AIR AND RADIO WOULD TURN ITSELF ON AND OFF, DOORS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ETC. AND TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED CHEVY DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED AND THESE ISSUES WERE MONTHS AFTER I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AFTER IT FAILS MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NO EXCEED 20 MPH WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. HAD A OIL CHANGE APRIL 15 2020. CAR WAS DRIVING FINE ON MAY 26 DRIVING AND WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF NOWHERE. NO LOW ENGINE LIGHT OR NOTHING JUST A SAD DAY. *TR
THE OTHER DAY IT WAS RAINING SLIGHTLY AND I WAS AT MY FRIENDS HOUSE. LATER WHEN I LEFT IT WAS RAINING HARDER SO I WAS USING MY WIPERS AND WHEN I HAD GOTTEN 5 MINS DOWN THE ROAD MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND IT CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE A THING. WHEN THAT HAPPENED I HIT SOMETHING AND WAS IN THE GRASS A BIT. NOW I HAVE A CHUNK OF MY BUMPER GONE AND A HEADLIGHT OUT CAUSE OF WHAT I HIT. WHICH I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS I HIT. NOW MY WIPERS DON'T WORK, A CHUNK OF MY BUMPER IS GONE, AS WELL AS SOME PLASTIC UNDER MY CAR CAME OFF. *TR
THIS 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX CONSUMES A LOT OF OIL, LIKE EVERY TANK OF GAS I HAVE TO ADD OIL. THIS SHOULDN'T BE.
I HAD MY EQUINOX REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL FOR OIL CONSUMPTION, YET IT IS STILL BURNING OIL. THE HEAT AND AC ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, TO GET HEAT I HAVE TO TURN THE DIAL BACK AND FORTH AND MAYBE IT WILL WORK MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE TO DRIVE ABOUT A HALF A MILE FOR IT TO BLOW HEAT. THE AC IS JUST NOT WORKING AT ALL. THE INFO PANEL IN THE CENTER OF THE DASH WILL GO OUT AND COME BACK ON LATER. WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR WILL JUST SLOW DOWN LIKE I'M NOT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AT ALL. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO GET STUCK IN A GEAR CAUSING THE RPMS TO RISE AND STAY UNTIL I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR. THE CAR MAKES A CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURNING. IT SHAKES AT 60 MPH. ALSO I HAVE REPLACED HEADLIGHTS 2 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR.
MY CAR WASN'T TELLING ME THAT OIL IS LOW. THEN IT STARTED LEAKING OIL LIKE CRAZY. EVERY OTHER DAY I WOULD PUT OIL. AND DO FREQUENT OIL CHANGE. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. GOING 70MPH MY CAR SUDDENLY GIVES OUT. HAVE TO RUSH TO PARK IT ASIDE. THEN MY CAR WONT RUN. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE JUST STOPPED WORKING. YOU CAN HEAR THE MOTOR RUNNING BUT THEY DO NOT MOVE. I HAVE READ THAT THE 2013 THROUGH 2019 HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM. THEY JUST STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE POURING RAIN. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WHY ARE THEY NOT FIXING THE 2010-2013 MODELS? I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED. ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BEFORE THEY ADD THESE OTHER CARS TO THIS RECALL! PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO. ON FEBRUARY 26, I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 EQUINOX TO MY MECHANIC FOR AN ANNUAL VEHICLE INSPECTION AND TO FIND OUT WHY MY SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON. AS I WAS DRIVING SMOKE STARTED FLOWING OUT FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD. I STOPPED THE CAR AND GOT OUT THINKING IT WAS GOING TO GO ON FIRE. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, THE SMOKE STOPPED AND I PROCEEDED TO MY MECHANIC. ON MARCH 10TH MY MECHANIC HAD THE CAR IN HIS GARAGE AND WAS COMPLETING THE INSPECTION AND HE DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE WHY THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN SMOKING. HE DECIDED TO LET THE CAR IDLE IN THE SHOP TO SEE IF IT WOULD START SMOKING. AS MOMENTS PASSED THE MECHANIC TOLD ME HE HEARD A 'FIRECRACKER' SOUND AND LOOKED TO SEE THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT REASON. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC TO TAKE IT TO A CHEVY DEALER. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND TOLD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THIS STORY AND THEY WERE UNSURE WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT YET HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO RECTIFY IT WITHOUT COST TO THE OWNER. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE HORROR THAT WOULD HAVE ENSUED IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING.

A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) IS SITUATED OPPOSITE THE THROTTLE LINKAGE CONNECTION ON THE THROTTLE PLATE. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN AN ALARM WENT OFF ON MY DASH SAYING A SENSOR WAS BAD. NEXT THING THE CAR SAID LOSING POWER TO ENGINE AND MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND DECELERATING.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY HUSBAND, THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND UNBORN CHILD WHEN MY EQUINOX SHUT OFF I'M THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING AND WHITE SMOKE APPEARED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. IT WOULD START BUT AS SOON AS I PUT IT INTO GEAR THE ENGINE WOULD CUT OFF. FINALLY THE ENGINE JUST COMPLETELY STOPPED CUTTING ON. MY HUSBAND, A POLICE OFFICER AND A GOOD SAMARITAN WERE ABLE TO PUSH THE CHEVY OFF THE ROAD INTO THE DITCH SAFELY. THE CHEVY THEN HAD TO BE TOWED TO A CAR SHOP TO GET LOOKED AT. THIS VEHICLE CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING IT!!! WITH CHILDREN IN THE BACK. THEN ENGINE BLEW A HOLE THROUGH IT. LESS THAN 200,000 MILES ON IT WITH BRAND NEW SPARK PLUGS AND A FRESH OIL CHANGE. CERTAIN MODELS OF CHEVY HAVE AN ENGINE DEFECT WHICH IS INTERNALLY IN THE ENGINE. YOUR VEHICLE WILL BURN OIL WITH NO OIL LIGHT COMING ON TO LET YOU KNOW. THERE'S NO LEAK COMING FROM ANYWHERE. THE ENGINE JUST DRINKS IT ALL UP WITHIN A FEW DAYS AND THEN WILL BLOW UP IF YOU'RE NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT VEHICLES. I WAS ON A BUSY ROAD WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENED. WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IF IT WASN'T FOR US GOING LESS THAN THE SPEED LIMIT.

TOOK TO HAVE VEHICLE SCANNED AND ALTERNATOR IS READING AT TOO HIGH VOLTAGE AND REVIVED 15 ERROR CODES ALL RELATING TO SPEED SENSOR, ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODEL MALFUNCTION, POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND CAMSHAFT POSITION CIRCUIT ERRORS ETC.
ITS A TICKING NOISE WHEN STARTED UP THEN LIGHTS FROM THE DASH BOARD TO THE HEAD LIGHTS, FLICKS OFF AND ON AND THE HORN GOES OUT AT THE SAME TIME. WHEN DRIVING THE IDLE DONT SEEM TO PICK UP SPEED THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HAS PROBLEM IT MAKE THIS HORRIBLE LOUD NOISE AND THE CAR DO SEEM TO DRIVE RIGHT. THE CV JOINT IS GOING BAD FOR THE 5 TIME AND THE BARS THE WHEELS MAKE THIS LOUD NOISE I ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 5 YRS (CHEVY EQUINOX 2010) AND MOST I HAD TO REPLACE, NOW ITS GOING BAD AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TONY DIVINO TOYOTA (777 W RIVERDALE RD, RIVERDALE, UT 84405) HAD REPAIRED THE WIPER BLADES A YEAR PRIOR HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY EVIDENCE OF PROBLEM I TURNED THE CORNER OF A INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE WHILE STILL RUNNING LOST ALL POWER FOR ACCELERATION. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO INJURY TO MYSELF OR THE VEHICLE. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART , THERE SEEMED TO BE NO PRESSURE IT WAS LATER DETERMIN HAT THE TIMING CHAIN AND CAMSHAFT BROKE SENDING METAL THROUGH OUT THE ENGINE. RESULTING IN THE NEED FOR A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS PROBLEM CAUSE BY THE OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH I DID HAVE REPAIRED. THE OIL WAS FULL AND TRUCK DROVE GREAT ONE MINUTE THEN THE NEXT MINUTE THE ENGINE WAS GONE CHEVY NEEDS TO EVALUATE AND HELP CONSUMERS WITH THESE TYPE PROBLEM RELATED TO KNOWN RECALLS. WE HAVE INVESTED OR MONEY IN A PRODUCT THAT FAILS US DUE TO ENGINEERING ISSUES CAUSING THE CONSUMER ADDED EXPENSES
I BOUGHT MY USED 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX FROM THE DEALER, AND 2 WEEKS LATER THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY DID AN ALIGNMENT AND THE SAME DAY THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITH TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE, AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT TO LEAVE IT WOULDN'T START. AFTER 2 TRIES, IT FINALLY STARTED BUT THEN THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 25 MPH. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER FOR A TOW TRUCK TO COME. THE CHEVY DEALER SAID IT WAS THE MAIN TIMING CHAIN (NOT COVERED) AND SOMETHING ELSE IN THE ENGINE BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR LABOR TO DISASSEMBLE IT. MY CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE AND SITTING AT THE DEALER FOR NOW 10 DAYS. LUCKILY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND DECIDED TO GO TO THE STORE BEFORE HEADING TO WORK. CARFAX REPORTS INDICATE THE TIMING CHAIN AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AT 40,000 MILES ALREADY. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM IN MUCH SCARIER SITUATIONS. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS.
ON 1/16/20, I USED MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO CLEAR SNOW OFF OF MY WINDSHIELD WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. IT WIPED CORRECTLY A FEW TIMES, BUT ON THE FOURTH WIPE, I HEARD A 'THWACK' TYPE OF NOISE, AND THE WIPERS STOPPED IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION BY THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I TRIED TO TURN THE WIPERS ON AGAIN, BUT THEY WOULD NOT MOVE. I MANUALLY PUSHED THE WIPERS DOWN INTO THE RESTING POSITION, AND THEN TRIED TO TURN THE WIPERS ON AGAIN. THEY STILL WOULDN'T MOVE. I HAVE TRIED TURNING THE WIPERS ON EACH DAY SINCE THE 16TH, AND EACH TIME, THE WIPERS WILL NOT MOVE. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MESSAGE THEN APPEARED THAT ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED AND SPEED IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO AROUND 15 MPH AND THEN TO A ROUGH IDLE AT APPROX 5-10MPH. WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP REMAINING 2 MILES HOME AND CONTACTED DEALER. APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AND DEALER REPORTED CODE P2135 AND REPLACED THROTTLE BODY..DEALER SAID THROTTLE DIDN'T KNOW UP FROM DOWN. DEALER STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS REPORTING BEING PUT IN A DANGEROUS POSITION WITH THE SUDDEN DROP IN SPEED LIKE WE WERE. I CONTACTED CHEVY GM AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS. IF RAPID ACCELERATION HAS BEEN TREATED BY OTHER COMPANIES AS RECALL WORTHY, I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY CHEVY DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS RECALL WORTHY. I HAVE ATTACHED THE REPAIR REPORT WITH THIS COMPLAINT.

CAR ACTS LIKE IT WON'T START AND TAKES A FEW TIMES BEFORE IT ACTUALLY STARTS UP. HAVE REPLACED SO MANY PARTS AND OF COURSE AT 155,000 MILES FOR A 2010 EQUINOX WE DON'T QUALIFY UNDER THE PENDING LAWSUIT. CAR IS PARKED BECAUSE IT USES SO MUCH OIL.

I TOOK MY CAR TO PEP BOYS AND THEY ORDERED THE PARTS TO REPLACE IN ORDER FOR MY WIPERS TO WORK AGAIN. HERE I AM IN DECEMBER 2019 ALMOST TWO YEARS LATER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE WIPERS IN THIS VEHICLE ARE DEFECTIVE AND SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY GOING TO GET INJURED OR KILLED IF THEY DO NOT RECALL THE WIPERS FOR FAULTY MOTORS THAT WILL QUIT WORKING AT ANY TIME. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IF IT WILL POSSIBLY RAIN BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO PUT MY KIDS OR MY LIFE IN DANGER.
