VECHILE WILL SHAKE BACK AND FORTH EVERYTIME IM ABOUT TO COME TO A STOP IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO PRESS GAS. CAR ODOMETER GOES TO 0 AND I HAVE NO POWER TO THE VECHILE, THE VECHILE JUST DIES IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE ALREADY OVER ISSUE THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME. *TR
THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER A RECALL - #11195B PRODUCT EMISSIONS POOR DRIVEABILITY - REPROGRAM ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. THIS RECALL, IF NOT DONE PROPERLY OR WITHIN THE ALLOTTED TIME CAUSES SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE TO THE TIMING CHAIN, THE TIMING GEARS AND OTHER CAM SHAFT PARTS. OUR DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR IN A REASONABLE TIME. *KB
I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE AN AIRPLANE TAKING OFF. I PULLED OUT ON THE STREET, ACCELERATED AND NOTICED THE NEEDLE GO UP TO 4 RPM'S AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES AN HOUR. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR JOLTED AND FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. I ACCELERATED AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, AGAIN FEELING LIKE I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND. THE CAR IS PRESENTLY AT MY DEALERSHIP BUT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. TODAY THEY ARE GOING TO DRIVE IT FOR A GOOD DISTANCE ON THE EXPRESSWAY. I HAD READ ONE COMPLAINT ON THE EQUINOX FORUM WHERE SOMEONE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR HAPPENED TO THEM WITH THE RPM STICKING AT 4 RPM'S. I TOLD MY DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS AND ASK IF MAYBE THEY ARE RELATED PROBLEMS. *TR
I STARTED MY CAR WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A JET ENGINE, LIKE IT WAS GOING TO GO AIRBORNE. I ACCELERATED AND GOING ONLY 5 MPH THE RPM RACED TO 4,000. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AND THE CAR JERKED. I ACCELERATED AGAIN GOING ONLY 5 MPH AND AGAIN THE RPM RACED TO 4,000. THE CAR JERKED AGAIN AND I FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. I HAD JUST LEFT MY DRIVEWAY SO PULLED BACK IN AND CALLED MY DEALER. THE CAR WAS TOWED IN BUT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED NOR WAS THERE A CODE. I HAVE THE CAR BACK BUT EXPECT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
BOUGHT THE EQUINOX NEW IN APRIL 11 FOR MY DAUGHTER. HAD IT ABOUT 6 +/- MONTHS AND STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT. IT WOULD LOOSE POWER ALL OF A SUDDEN AND ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STEERING WOULD BECOME EXTREMELY HARD TO DO. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MANY MANY TIMES SINCE THEN ALL FOR THE SAME REASONS. THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND LOOSES POWER. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR WITH NO ACCIDENTS. I AM HAVING TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN FOR THE SAME REASONS. NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE USING A LOT OF OIL. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ONCE, REPLACED ALOT OF FUSES AND WORKED ON THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES. THERE ARE STILL PROBLEMS. I THINK, GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT FIXING THIS VEHICLE AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. MY 2011 EQUINOX HAS JUST NOW STARTED SHOWING SOME "STICKING" IN THE STEERING MECHANISM WHEN MAKING SLIGHT STEERING CORRECTIONS WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60-70MPH). IT REQUIRED ME TO PULL THE STEERING WHEEL THE CAUSING OVER STEER. I WAS LUCKY THERE WAS NO CAR IN THE NEXT LANE. THE CONDITION IS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN STARTING TO TURN LEFT. IT IS BARELY NOTICEABLE AT LOWER SPEEDS BUT CAN BE DETECTED. THE EQUINOX WAS PUT INTO SERVICE IN MARCH 2011. THIS BEING AN ALL ELECTRIC POWER STEERING THE PROBLEM COULD IN THE RACK, ECM PROGRAMMING OR THE DRIVE MOTOR. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER ON 10/31/11 THEY FOUND NOTHING! VIEW DETAILS. *TR
DROVE IT. TURNED IT OFF FOR 15 MINUTES. WENT TO START IT BACK UP AND WOULD NOT START. WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER. CALLED ONSTAR AND THEY SENT SOMEONE TO JUMP IT. WOULD NOT START 2 MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT. THE NEIGHBOR AND MY FIANCEE HAD TO JUMP IT BOTH TIMES. THAT WAS WITHIN 3 DAYS. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE. SAID IT WAS A PROGRAM TELLING MY CAR NOT TO START. THEY RE-PROGRAMMED MY CAR. WORKED FOR A WEEK. THEN WENT TO GET IN IT TO GO TO WORK AGAIN AND WOULD NOT START. THAT WAS A SATURDAY. HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON TUESDAY BECAUSE THEY NEED TO FIX A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROBLEM. LET THEM KNOW IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. ALSO, WHEN I WENT TO BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE THE FIRST TIME ONSTAR CAME THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNING BUT MY WHEELS WEREN'T. HAD MY BOSS WITH ME TO WITNESS THIS. AFTER 6 TRIES THE WHEELS FINALLY TURNED TO ALLOW ME TO BACK OUT OF MY SPACE. THE DEALERSHIP THOUGHT THAT THE CARS COMPUTER SYSTEM MAY HAVE JUST BEEN TAKING A WHILE TO KICK IN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY EQUINOX OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND IT STALLED, I RESTARTED IT, DROVE IT UP THE ROAD AND WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH AND IT STALLED AGAIN, I TURNED AROUND BACK TO THE PARKING LOT AND IT HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES. I HAVE ALSO BE GETTING VERY POOR GAS MILEAGE (15-18MPH). THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY RESET THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL MODULE BECAUSE IT HAD ERRORS ON IT. THIS HAS THUS FAR RESOLVED THE CAR FROM STALLING BUT HAS NOT IMPROVED THE GAS MILEAGE. *TR
GOOD EVENING, 6 YEARS AGO I HAD A CHEVY COBALT AND EXPERIENCED THAT SITUATION. MY VEHICLE POWERED ITSELF OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WENT STRAIGHT FOR A WALL INSIDE A PARKING GARAGE. LATER THAT YEAR I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS I WAS ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY AND MY VEHICLE POWERED OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AND I DIDN'T GET KNOCKED OFF THE STREET OR EVEN WORSE KILLED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND MY CONCERN WAS SOMETHING UNHEARD. I EXPRESSED TO THEM MY CONCERN OF THAT HAPPENING ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY OR AN EXPRESSWAY. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF THERE AND LEFT IT FOR A DAY. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY BEFORE GETTING OFF THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS READY I WENT TO PICK IT UP AND THEY HAD ME WAITING FOR 30 MINUTES. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT WHAT WAS TAKING SO LONG THE SERVICE MANAGER REPLIED THAT THE MECHANIC WAS BACK THERE MAKING LOVE TO MY CAR. I COULDN'T FIND ANY HUMOR IN THE SITUATION BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE.BEFORE I WAS NONCHALANTLY BRUSHED OFF AND TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I COULDN'T GET GM CORPORATE OFFICE TO UNDERSTAND HOW SERIOUS THIS ISSUE. IT WASN'T TILL NOW THAT I REALIZED THAT OTHERS ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE WITH GM AND IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT LIVES HAVE BEEN LOST. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU ALL DO. THE 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX I PURCHASED ON OCTOBER 8TH 2011 BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING THE FIRST TIME I STARTED IT AFTER DRIVING IT HOME (500 MILES) FROM THE DEALERSHIP. ON STARTUP THERE WAS A LOUD 3-4 SECOND RATTLE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT (ALMOST AS IF LOW ON OIL). THIS RATTLE WAS EVIDENT WHETHER THE ENGINE WAS HOT, WARM, OR COLD. I TOOK THE CAR INTO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP ON 10/11/2011. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE ECM AND GAVE ME BACK MY CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE NEXT DAY THE RATTLE WAS STILL THERE. ON 10/31/2011 I RETURNED MY CHEVROLET EQUINOX TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME A SOUND INSULATOR WAS INSTALLED ON THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINE/FUEL PUMP. THE NEXT DAY THE RATTLE WAS STILL THERE. ON APPROXIMATELY 1/20/2012 MY CHEVROLET EQUINOX BEGAN IDLING ROUGH, STALLING, AND THROWING CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. I RETURNED MY CHEVROLET EQUINOX TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 1/27/2012. ON 2/3/2012 I WAS GIVEN BACK MY VEHICLE AND TOLD THAT IT WAS FIXED AND APPEARED TO BE RUNNING OK WITH NO RATTLE. I TOOK MY NEW CHEVROLET EQUINOX HOME AND PARKED IT IN MY DRIVEWAY TO FIND AN OIL PUDDLE UNDER IT THE NEXT MORNING. IN MY 53 YEARS I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT LEAKED OIL, LET ALONE ONE THAT DOES WITH LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR IS SCHEDULED TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN TWO DAYS. THERE ARE OTHER SERVICE BULLETINS OUT ON THIS VEHICLE THAT PERTAIN TO THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT COMPLETED THEM AT THIS TIME. THERE ARE ALSO BULLETINS AND INFORMATION THAT MENTION DEBRIS AND MULTIPLE OIL CHANGES (THIS SPEAKS OF LONG TERM ENGINE DAMAGE TO ME). FOR $31,000 I WOULD HAVE HOPED FOR A LITTLE MORE THAN THIS IN A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. HOPEFULLY CHEVROLET "STEPS UP TO THE PLATE" AND MAKES THINGS RIGHT. *TR
CAR JERKED WHEN SLOWING DOWN. WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR SHUT OFF. UPON STARTING VEHICLE, THERE WAS A RATTLE. CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND RECALL #11195 WAS DONE, TO INCLUDE AN OIL CHANGE. *TR
CONCERNING 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX 4CYL, ON STARTUP, THERE WILL BE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE, SOUNDS AS IF THERE IS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE, SOUND LASTS FROM 1-5 SECONDS THEN GOES AWAY. MOST OF THE TIMES IT WILL DO IT ON FIRST START-UP OF THE DAY BUT THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW TIMES WHERE IT HAS DONE IT MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE SAME DAY. CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE, THEY HAVE REPLACED THE CAM ACTUATOR AND SOLENOID, WHICH I HAD TO BRING BACK AGAIN (#5) BECAUSE THE GASKET WAS SEATED INCORRECTLY AND WAS LEAKING OIL ON MY DRIVEWAY. SERVICE ACCOUNT MANAGER HAS HEARD THE NOISE THE FIRST TIME I BOUGHT IT IN AND THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN, BOTH TIMES THE SOUND LASTED ABOUT 1 SECOND, BUT IT WAS ENOUGH THAT BOTH OF US HEARD IT, NOT AS LONG AS THE TIMES WHEN STARTING AT HOME, PROBABLY BECAUSE THOSE WERE ON FIRST START-UP OF THE DAY WHEREAS THE TIMES AT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS EITHER ALREADY RUNNING OR WAS STARTED A FEW TIMES THAT DAY. THEY ALSO REPLACED A HIGH PRESSURE PUMP INSULATOR COVER FOR A TICKING NOISE THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE KNOCKING NOISE. ALSO HAVE MENTIONED TO THEM THAT WHILE ACCELERATING (FROM DEAD STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, GOING UP ON-RAMPS TO HIGHWAYS AND MERGING INTO HIGH-SPEED TRAFFIC), THE RPM'S WILL DROP DOWN TO ZERO AND CAR ALMOST STALLS THEN IT KICKS BACK INTO GEAR (UP TO 6500 RPMS), THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES, AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THAT PROBLEM EITHER. I HAVE TRIED ALL 3 GRADES OF GASOLINE AND ISSUES WERE PRESENT WITH ALL 3. AT THIS POINT IT HAS ALREADY BEEN IN 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND I FEEL AS THOUGH ONE DAY THE ENGINE WILL HAVE MORE SERIOUS ISSUES BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES.
I STARTED MY NEW CAR UP TO LEAVE THE GARAGE @ WORK AND MY CAR STALLED 4 TIMES .I TURNED OFF THE CAR EACH TIME AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I WASN'T SURE WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO MY CAR. I WAS GOING DOWN THE RAMP AND THE CAR WOULD STALLED AGAIN. FINALLY I WAS AT THE CASHIER BOOTH AND THE CAR STOPPED MOVING. AGAIN TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED. IT FINALLY MOVED. WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE AND RETURNED TO THE CAR AND DROVE AWAY. I GLANCED DOWN @ MY DASHBOARD AND NOTED THE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON. IMMEDIATELY BECAME CONCERN AND CALLED ONSTAR TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS ENGINE PROBLEM AND THAT I NEED TO GET THE CAR TO NEAREST SERVICE CENTER AND FOLLOWED UP. I DROVE THE CAR DOWN THE MAJOR HIGHWAY VERY NERVOUSLY AND SLOWLY HOPING THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T STALL OR GET REAR ENDED TO DEALERSHIP. I PRESENTED THE PROBLEM TO THE REP. HE ASKED ME IF I WAS EVER TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT A RECALL WAS DONE ON THE ENGINE MODULE AND I TOLD HIM I DIDN'T RECEIVE PROPER NOTIFICATION. I PURCHASED THE CAR JULY 18, 2011. THE RECALL WAS DONE JUNE 13, 2011. I WAS SHOCKED THAT CHEVROLET DIDN'T INFORM ME PRIOR TO PURCHASING CAR. HE ALLOWED ME TO LEAVE THE CAR AND OFFER ME A LOANER AND WOULD HAVE MECHANICS WORK ON CAR THE FOLLOWING DAY. I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND LEFT A MESSAGE AS WELL AS THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPT. I RECEIVED A CALL THAT FRIDAY THAT THE PART WAS INSTALLED. I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE RIDING THIS CAR, AFTER THAT AND MADE IT KNOWN TO THE REPRESENTATIVE. I AM REQUESTING ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. *TR
IN SEPTEMBER 2011, SIX WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX, I WAS REAR-ENDED BY A HEAVY-DUTY PICKUP TRUCK. I WAS SO RATTLED BY THE COLLISION THAT I FORGOT THAT I HAD ONSTAR. THE OTHER DRIVER USED HIS CELL PHONE TO CALL THE POLICE. I RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES DURING THE ACCIDENT. A FEW DAYS LATER I TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE THAT ONSTAR DID NOT CONTACT ME RIGHT AFTER THE COLLISION. HE CALLED ONSTAR AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THE REAR SENSORS SHOULD HAVE SIGNALED A COLLISION, BUT, BECAUSE THE SENSORS DID NOT ACTIVATE, ONSTAR WOULD REPORT THE PROBLEM TO GM. THE REP ALSO TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND GM MANAGEMENT IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE REP OFFERED TO EXTEND OUR ONSTAR TRIAL PERIOD FOR ANOTHER 6 MONTHS. IF GM IS AWARE OF THE REAR SENSOR MALFUNCTION, WHY AREN'T THEY CORRECTING THE PROBLEM? INSTEAD THEY ARE PLACATING CUSTOMERS WITH AN EXTENSION OF ONSTAR SERVICE. WHAT HAPPENS IF A MORE SERIOUS REAR-END CRASH OCCURS, THE DRIVER IS UNCONSCIOUS, AND CAN'T CALL FOR HELP? I WOULD LIKE THIS PROBLEM OF THE MALFUNCTIONING REAR SENSORS TO BE INVESTIGATED. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC AT A LOW SPEED I HAD TO STOP DUE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPING. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES STARTED PULSING AND I HAD NO STOPPING ABILITIES UNTIL I HIT THE CAR INFRONT OF ME. AGAIN THE SAME SITUATION OCCURRED, I WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT A LOW SPEED WHEN THE CAR INFRONT OF ME SLAMS THEIR BRAKES AND I FOLLOW MY APPLYING MY BRAKES. AGAIN THE BRAKES PULSED AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP. THE SECOND TIME I HAD MORE THAN TWO CAR SPACES BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE OTHER CAR WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS FOR BOTH INCIDENTS WERE CLEAR AND NO VISIBLE LIQUID ON THE ROAD. EACH TIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING THROUGH THE GEARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN OPENING BOTH REAR PASSENGER WINDOWS, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE EXCESSIVELY. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT NOT TO OPEN THE REAR WINDOWS AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

MY WIFE HAS A BAD BACK, 4 VERTEBRA LOWER BACK OUT OF ALIGNMENT ! MUST USE A DONUT CUSHION ! DEALER TELLS US, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS !!! I DON'T BELIEVE THAT. WE HAD TO RENT ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE OURS WAS IN FOR PAINT !! WE RENTED A CHEVY MALIBU, THREE DAYS, MY WIFE USED HER CUSHION. YEP, YOU GOT IT THE AIR BAGS WORKED FINE ALL TIME ( WAS A 2011 ) MY PROBLEM IS THIS : PEOPLE HAVE DISABILITIES, THEY IN SOME CASES HAVE TO USE AIDES ! IF THE AIRBAGS WORK IN ANOTHER CHEVY, WHY DO THEY NOT WORK IN OUR EQUINOX ???? FROM A QUALITY ASSURANCE STANDPOINT, THIS IS NOT RIGHT, IN MY VIEW, SENSORS ARE NOT POSITIONED PROPERLY ! THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE WAS UNAWARE THAT THE GATE WAS CLOSING SINCE THE WARNING CHIME ONLY RINGS TO WARN OF POSSIBLE OBSTRUCTION IT DOES NOT CHIME WHEN LIFT GATE IS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT IT WAS THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ALTER IT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING ON A FOUR LANE STREET WITH TWO LANES GOING SOUTH WITH A MEDIAN IN THE MIDDLE AND TWO LANES GOING NORTH. I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE GOING SOUTH TOWARDS 1-70 AND WAS GOING AROUND A SLIGHT CORNER TOWARDS THE LEFT AND TRIED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT MY WHEEL AND MY WHEEL WAS STUCK TURNING LEFT. I TRIED AGAIN TO GET MY WHEEL TO STRAIGHTEN OUT, AND IT WAS STUCK. I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE AND WENT OVER THE MEDIAN SEPARATING THE 4 WAY LANES. I HIT A LARGE STREET SIGNS AND MULTIPLE REFLECTORS ON THE MEDIAN. UPON IMPACT MULTIPLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS APPEARED AND WHEEL WAS FINALLY ABLE TO MAKE A TURN TO RIGHT TO GET TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY CAR IS NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS OLD AND WAS A BRAND NEW 2011 EQUINOX. WHEN I WENT TO REPORT THE ISSUE TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE CAR SALES MAN THERE SAID "OH THIS HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE WITH ANY YEARS OF THE EQUINOX'S".....HATE TO BREAK IT TO HIM BUT LOOKS LIKE MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR STEERING AND WHEEL ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL. VERY FRUSTRATING.....GM WAS CONTACTED AND IT CAN TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 30-120 DAYS FOR THEM TO COME EVALUATE THE STATUS OF MY CAR TO SEE WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. AT 4000 MILES THE RADIATOR FAILED AND THE CAR OVERHEATED. REPLACED RADIATOR. AT THE SAME TIME THERE WAS AND STILL IS A CLUNKING AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHEN UP-SHIFTING. THE CLUNK HAS BEEN SO DRAMATIC THAT I THOUGHT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT I WAS HIT FROM THE REAR. IT ACTUALLY MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH DRIVING THE CAR AND MAKES PEOPLE IN THE BACK SICKER. ADDITIONALLY SOME WHERE ABOVE 30 MILES AN HOUR THE CAR HAS SEVERAL TIMES HESITATED AS IF RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THE GAS PEDDLE DOES NOT RESPOND PROPERLY, HESITATING BEFORE CATCHING ON. NOW AT 11,000 AND THREE RETURN VISITS TO THE DEALER THEY SAY THAT THIS IS HOW ALL EQUINOX CARS HAVE THIS DRIVE PERFORMANCE AND IT IS "NORMAL" . THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE WHEN WE FIRST GOT THE CAR AND HAD I BEEN TOLD THAT SOME EQUINOX DRIVE LIKE THIS, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR KNOWING THIS. I KNOW FROM SEARCHING THE INTERNET THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM IN 2009 AND STILL IS AND WAS SOLD A CAR THAT THEY KNEW COULD BE FAULTY WITHOUT A CURRENT SOFTWARE FIX. I WILL NOT DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN, ESPECIALLY KNOWING NOW THAT THEY CAN STALL AT 30 MILES AND HOUR. *TR
PURCHASED 2011 EQUINOX WITH 4-CYL ENGINE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE LISTED 32/23 MPG. I DRIVE 30 MILES PER DAY BACK AND FORTH TO WORK, FIGURED I WOULD GET AROUND 24-25 MPG FOR IN CITY HIGHWAY DRIVING. INSTEAD, I HAVE GOTTEN NO BETTER THAN 21 MPG AND USUALLY LESS. I THEN DROVE FROM KANSAS CITY TO OKLAHOMA CITY FOR WORK, USED CRUISE CONTROL MOST OF TIME. HOWEVER, IT WAS WINDY SO I FIGURED IT WOULDN'T QUITE BE AT 32. HOWEVER, I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO ONLY GET 22-23 MPG FOR HIGHWAY MILEAGE. VERY DISAPPOINTING. THE FIRST TIME I CONTACTED DEALER (AROUND 1,800 MILES ON ODOMETER) SERVICE REP EXPLAINED THAT THE POOR GAS MILEAGE WAS DUE TO THE CHANGE FROM WINTER BLEND GASOLINE TO WARM WEATHER GAS. AS THE POOR MPG CONTINUED, AROUND 3,000 MILES I TOOK CAR TO DEALER TO HAVE OIL CHANGED AND AT THAT TIME MENTIONED POOR MPG. THE SERVICE REP (DIFFERENT REP THAN PREVIOUSLY) TOLD ME THAT THE EQUINOX HAD A 5,000 MILE BREAK-IN PERIOD WHEN IT COMPUTES HOW THE CAR IS DRIVEN AND ADJUSTS FOR THE DRIVER'S HABITS (HOW WOULD THAT WORK IF MULTIPLE PEOPLE WERE DRIVING THE VEHICLE?). ANY WAYS, I COMPLAINED BUT WAS TOLD IT WOULD GET BETTER. NOW AT 5,500 MILES AND STILL GETTING NO BETTER THAN 19-21 MPG. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT I GENERALLY RUN IN "ECO" MODE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVY DRIVER AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE, BUT I WILL CERTAINLY RESEARCH THE CARS BETTER NEXT TIME BECAUSE I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL SOCIAL TYPE WEBSITES. *TR

I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVY EQUINOX ON MAY 13, 2011 FROM MARITIME MOTORS IN FAIRFIELD, CT IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE FROM THE BEGINNING DRIVETRAIN/TIMING ISSUES, BUCKING ON ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION AND PULSING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. THE EQUINOX STILL OCCASIONALLY CLATTERS UPON STARTING (AFTER THE RECALL WAS APPARENTLY FIXED IN SUMMER 2011), AND THE VEHICLE ALSO PULSES AT STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO THE POINT IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL AND I HAVE TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO STOP THE PULSING. I HAVE HAD NOTHING FROM MARITIME MOTORS (OR GENERAL MOTORS) IN TERMS OF SUPPORT ON THIS ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE - I HAVE FIVE WITNESSES/PASSENGERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED MY CONCERNS. IN ADDITION, I HAVE TWO FRIENDS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL (PURCHASED FROM MARITIME MOTORS) AND ARE EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL ISSUES. TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING OUR 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST A LOT OF POWER. WE TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY CLAIMED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT CONTROLLED THE STEERING. THEN, TWO WEEKS LATER, THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD, STRANGE, NOISE WHEN IT STARTED. IT DROVE A BIT, THEN COMPLETELY DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. IT WAS RESTARTED, THEN IT DIED AND HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY. DEALER SAID IT IS A FAULTY CAM SHAFT. THIS CAR HAS 900 MILES AND IT NOW 30 DAYS OLD. *KB
PURCHASED THIS 2011 EQUINOX LT 4 CY ON 4/25/2011. AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT STARTED HESITATING AND STALLING AND A CHECK ENGINE CODE P0011. SO ON 7/15/2011 I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE INTAKE CAM SOLENOID AND OIL. SEEMED BETTER BUT STILL HESITATED ONCE IN A WHILE SO I BROUGHT BACK ON 9/27/2011 AND THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE.WE LIVED WITH THE HESITATION UNTIL 2/11/2013 WHEN IT STARTING RUNNING BAD AND STALLED A COUPLE TIMES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH A P0011 CODE AGAIN. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS CLOSER AND THEY TEST BOTH ACTUATOR SOLENOIDS AND AT THE TIME OF THE TEST THEY WHERE BOTH WORKING. THEY CHECKED THE DEBRIS SCREENS AND THERE WAS NO DEBRIS TO AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE ACTUATOR. SO WITH NO OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY SAID THE OIL WAS DIRTY, EVEN THOUGH THE OIL HAD LESS THAN 2500 MILES AND THE COMPUTER LIFE OIL SENSOR SAID I WAS AT 64%. AND THEY STATED THAT THE OIL DID NOT READ ON THE DIP STICK. MY SUV WITH 24K MILES AND LESS THAN 2500 MILES ON SINCE A OIL CHANGE HAD BURNED OVER A QUART AND A HALF OF OIL. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX ON JULY 5 IN OHIO. ON JULY 13 I GOT INTO THE VEHICLE AND UPON CLOSING THE DOOR THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED OUTWARDS. IT LEFT S SOFTBALL SIZED HOLE OR LARGER AND THE GLASS WAS ALSO FALLING OUR IN ALL FOUR CORNERS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY RETURNED MY CALL 30 MINUTES LATER AND ASKED ME TO BRING THE EQUINOX IN AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THE REAR GLASS UNDER WARRANTY. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHY THIS HAPPENED AS THERE WERE NOT ANY VISIBLE SCRATCHES OR CHIPS IN THE REAR GLASS BUT IT DOES APPEAR THAT THE GLASS WAS IN SOME WAY DEFECTIVE OR HAD BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY FROM THE FACTORY. I HAVE FOUND ONE OTHER PERSON FROM TX THUS FAR HAVING REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

RPM`S GO UP AND DOWN AT IDLE STILL HESITATES EVERY ONCE AND AWHILE HAS ENGINE KNOCK AT START UP DEALER CANT REPRODUCE, BEEN THRU ONE GM BUY BACK ON CHEVY MALIBU WITH STEERING PROBLEMS,AND ENGINE KNOCK. THIS WAS A FOUR CYL. AND THE EQUINOX IS A 4 CYL. TO. THINK THE ENGINES R THE SAME IN BOTH CARS .SEEMS TO ME LIKE GM HAS BIG PROBLEMS WITH THIS ENGINE DESIGN. *TR
TRYING TO PASS A TRUCK AT ABOUT 55 MPH I STEPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR, ONLY TO SEE THE RPM'S RACE UP HIGH BUT NO ACCELERATION. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN SIX TIMES TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED GM SEVERAL TIMES WITH THIS COMPLAINT, ALL TO NO AVAIL. GM'S ANSWER IS "WE HAVE YOUR COMPLAINT DOCUMENTED". I HAVE NOT BOTHERED DOING ANYTHING SINCE SEPT 10, 2013, THINKING THAT MY PROBLEM MAY BE A FLUKE. THE ENGINE STOPPED WORKING, THE CAR IS MOVING FORWARD ON ITS OWN , CAN NOT CHANGE LANES BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY TRAFFIC, CAR COMES TO A DEAD STOP, VEHICLES ARE PASSING BY AT 70 TO 75 MILES WHILE I AM IN THE MIDDLE LANE, CARS BEHIND ME ARE HONKING THEIR HORNS,THANK GOD NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR RE-STARTED WE TOOK OFF LOOKING FOR THE NEAREST EXIT TO THE TURNPIKE BUT BEFORE WE COULD GET OFF THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN. I PURCHASED A 2011 EQUINOX LT - CHEVROLET -DEC 2010 - WANTED A NICE AND SAFE CAR FOR THE NEW YEAR - I AM A MOTHER WITH SMALL KIDS AND WANTED A SMALLER CAR THAN WHAT I HAD, WHICH WAS A FORD WINDSTAR, I HAD FOR 13 YRS. WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE AT SLOW-MID SPEEDS (LESS THAN 30 MPH), IT LOSES POWER. IT APPEARS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN GEAR AND ENGINE BOGS DOWN. VEHICLE HAD TO BE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND THE DEALER HAS MADE 3 REPAIRS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE, HOWEVER IT STILL OCCURS. VEHICLE WAS PARKED UNDER A CARPORT IN FULL SHADE. I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, GOT IN, SHUT THE DOOR AS I ALWAYS DO, AND THE REAR GLASS EXPLODED OUTWARD. THERE WAS NO CHIP OR CRACK IN THE GLASS. WE TOOK MANY PICTURES OF THE GLASS WHERE IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE GLASS BURST OUTWARD, GLASS SPEWED ALL DOWN MY DRIVEWAY. THE GLASS BROKE ALL AROUND THE EDGES OF THE FRAME AND A LARGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE. PRIOR TO THIS, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX A RATTLE IN THE LIFTGATE. I KNOW THAT THE LIFTGATE HAD TO BE TAKEN APART AND REASSEMBLED FOR THIS FIX. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THE GLASS FELL INWARD (AND AFTER BEING HAULED HALFWAY ACROSS TOWN ON A WRECKER, IT SURE LOOKS LIKE IT DID) AND THAT IN ANY CASE, GLASS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I CALLED GM AND THE REP SAID IT SHOULD BE COVERED. THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT I HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF. I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE DISTRICT REP OR THE DEALER. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF EXPLODING GLASS, WHAT IF KIDS HAD BEEN IN THE CAR? WHAT IF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DOES THIS WHILE I AM IN THE CAR? I DRIVE A 2011 CHEVOLET EQUINOX AND ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, IT HAS SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT ACCELLERATE RIGHT AFTER CRANKING THE CAR UP AND PUTTING IT IN GEAR. NO ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURED BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES AND I HAVE SENT IT BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS FIXED BUT IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR. *TT

BOUGHT 2011 EQUINOX ON MAY 14,2011, ON JUNE 6,2011 WITH ONLY 1675 MILES RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP DUE TO MAKING NOISE UPON STARTING. BEST I CAN MAKE OUT ON WORK ORDER: CODE 314 DIAGNOSTIC SCAN &R&I&R STARTER & REPOSITION & TORQUE BOLTS. RETURNED ON SEPT 1, 2011 FOR SAME PROBLEM. TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL AND HAD TO REPROGRAM ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. WAS BETTER FOR AWHILE, BUT KEPT GETTING WORSE TILL IT SOUNDED LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE STARTING. JUST FIGURED THIS WAS MAYBE NORMAL AND WE WOULD HAVE TO JUST LIVE WITH IT. FINAL TOOK BACK TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP ON 8-2-12. REPLACED WATER PUMP AND BALANCE SHAFT TIMING CHAIN,TENSIONER, CRANK SHAFT BALANCER BOLT AND CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR BOLTS. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 8-18-12, TECH SAID HAD A LEAK IN VAC. HOSE. RETURNED VEHICLE ON 9-7-12 FOR DIESEL SOUNDING NOISE AGAIN. PARTS ORDERED TO BE PUT ON 9-10-OR 9-11-12. DON'T' THINK THIS WILL FIX PROBLEM, BUT IT IS WHAT GM HAS RECOMMENDED TO DO. ALSO HAD ISSUE WITH SPEAKER IN FRNT PASSENGER DOOR. HAD TO TAKE VEHICLE 4 DIFFERENT TRIPS FOR THEM TO DETERMINE WHERE STATIC NOISE WAS FROM. SO LOUD AT TIMES IT WAS DIFFICULT TO HEAR RADIO. FINALLY REPLACED SPEAKER AND HAS WORKED FINE SINCE. ALSO HAVE NOTICED WHEN STOPPED AND START TO ACCELERATE THERE WOULD BE A HESITATION. THOUGHT IT WAS JUST NOT HAVING FOOT ON PEDAL GOOD, BUT AFTER READING ABOUT STALLING ISSUES-WONDER IF THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING. REALLY CONSIDERING TRADING THIS VEHICLE IN-BUT WONDER IF WE WOULD GET TRUE VALUE OF CAR ONCE THEY SEE WHAT ALL HAS BEEN DONE AND PROBLEMS. ISN'T THERE SOME COMPENSATION GM CAN GIVE TO OWNERS. MY SPOUSE WAS OPENING THE DRIER'S DOOR AND THE TRIM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR (WHICH IS FIBER GLASS MATERIAL) CUT HER LEG ABOUT SIX TO EIGHT INCHES ABOVE THE LEFT ANKLE. THE TRIM STICKS WHEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS OPENED. IT TOOK 16 STITCHES TO CLOSE THE WOUND. THE TRIM NEEDS TO RE-FINISHED OR TAPERED TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM GETTING HURT. I WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THAT THE DEALER WOULD NEED TO KEEP MY VEHICLE ONE MORE DAY TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN (PARTS ORDERED) DAY 3 IN SERVICE: CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN REPLACED TOTAL WORK OVER 3 DAYS: 2 VALVES, 2 ACTUATORS, 1 SEAL, 1 GASKET AND 1 CHAIN INSTALLED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THESE FIXES WOULD RESOLVE STALLING AND ENGINE HESITATION ISSUES I AM HAVING THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE AT THIS TIME: VEHICLE STALLING HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING I HAVE FILED PAPERWORK FOR LEMON LAW BUT ALSO WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT SO THAT PEOPLE ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT CHEVY IS HAVING WITH THEEQUINOX. MY WIFE TOOK OUR 2007 TAHOE IN TO TRADE IT FOR SOMETHING THAT GOT BETTER GAS MILEAGE. SHE WENT TO LIBERTY CHEVROLET IN VILLA RICA GA. SHE WAS LOOKING AT THE CHEVY EQUINOX. AFTER TALKING WITH THE SALES PERSON MELISSA BELL WHO ASSURED MY WIFE THE EQUINOX WOULD GET BETTER THAN 30 MPG. AND IF IT DIDN?T GET THE MILEAGE IT COULD BE FIXED. WELL AFTER MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THREE DEALERSHIPS IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT [XXX] WAS LYING THROUGH HER TEETH JUST TRYING TO SELL THE CAR. AFTER 5000 MILES WE STILL ONLY GET AROUND 22MPG HIGHWAY. I CALLED THE CHEVROLET COMPLAINT LINE JUST TO BE TOLD THAT MPG WAS UNDER BEST DRIVING CONDITIONS IN OTHER WORD THEY WERE GOING TO DO NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THE SALES PERSON LIED TO MY WIFE RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY SISTER.
