IN 2014 FAILED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST GOT WORK DONE ON ENGINE REPLACING PISTON AND ETC NOW I HAD (1/2018 ) VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF AT STOP SIGNS OR LIGHTS .TOOK VECHICLE TO PERSONAL MECHANIC IT WAS DOWN A QUART OR OIL BUT WASN'T DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE TILL 109.000 MILES .CAR WAS AT 106,000 MILES AT THIS TIME. WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED AN UPPER FUEL PUMP,CAM SHAFT , TIMING CHAIN SET.AND PLUGS MISFIRED. AFTER CALLING GMC I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD NO WARRANTIES LEFT. SO I CALLED THE CHEVY CERTIFIED DEALER WHO PERFORM THE ENGINE WORK IN 2014 . I WAS TOLD THAT THEIR WARRANTY ONLY LAST FOR A YEAR AND THAT I HAVE SPECIAL COVERAGE STILL LEFT THAT MAY APLLY BUT WOULD HAVE TO BE INSPECTED BY THEIR SPECIALIST AND $100 FEE.NOW MIND YOU MY CAR WAS ALREADY BEING WORKED ON AT MY PRIVATE MECHANIC .AFTER PAYING $1375.00 FOR ALL THE ISSUES LISTED ABOVE MY CATALYST CONVERTER IS BAD. I BEEN HAVING ONGOING ENGINE ISSUES WITH THIS VECHICLE.
VEHICLE RUNNING ERRATIC,OIL LEAKS FROM REAR MAIN SEAL ,SERVICE BULLETIN 14882 ,PROBLEM CAUSED FROM PCV SYSTEM, VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN TRAFFIC
THROTTLE BODY ONE YEAR AFTER I HAVE THE CYCLONE RINGS REPLACE. THE ENGINE LOST POWER IN MIDDLE OF BUSY INTERSTATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE PCV FAILED AND CAUSED THE REAR SEAL TO BLOW OUT. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. THE DEALER (PADDOCK CHEVROLET, 3232 DELAWARE AVE, KENMORE, NY 14217) STATED THAT THE REAR SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. *TT *TR
OIL CONSUMPTION
GM RECALL 11195A - POOR DRIVABILITY/ SAFETY/ EMISSIONS RECALL FOR CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOIDS. MY 2.4L 2011 EQUINOX (APPROX. 47,000 AT PURCHASE 11/16 & 71,000 CURRENT) IS NOW AT DAYS CHEVROLET IN ACWORTH GA. DUE TO 1) SHUTTING OFF MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, 2) STALLING AT IDLE (FWD & REV). I INITIALLY VISITED DAYS ON 12/22/17 TO START AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST RELATED TO 15285C, AS MY CAR PRESENTED WITH STALLING/HESITATION/SURGING AND LOSS OF 3 QTS OIL. AS OF TODAY (1/3/18), I RETURNED TO DAYS WHEN IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP'S DIAGNOSIS IS INTAKE & EXHAUST CAMSHAFT SOLENOID FAILURE. I SUSPECTED THIS BASED ON CODE P0010 RECORDED BY MY DIAGNOSTIC UNIT. SO I GOT A RENTAL, LEFT MY CAR FOR THE CAMSHAFT REPAIRS, AND RESEARCHED RECALLS. THE 2011 2.4L HAS MANY KNOWN ENGINE/POWERTRAIN/SAFETY ISSUES. LO AND BEHOLD, I FOUND THE RECALL ON THE CAMSHAFT DIAGNOSIS. IT READS EXACT TO WHAT I'M EXPERIENCING. MY NEXT STEP WAS CONTACTING DAYS TO ASK WHY I'M BEING CHARGED FOR A RECALLED REPAIR. I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF RECALL 11195A. MY SERVICE ADVISOR, ROB, LOOKED UP THE RECALL AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS IN FACT A RECALL FOR THE EXACT DIAGNOSIS, YET COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. HE ADVISED THAT THE CAR IS EXHIBITING EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS ISSUED FOR AND THAT IT'S CLEARLY A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE, YET GM WILL NOT COVER MY REPAIR BECAUSE "THE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED". I VERY MUCH BELIEVE THIS IS GM'S RESPONSIBILITY AND GM SHOULD COVER THE REPAIR AT NO COST BECAUSE IT'S A RESULT OF THEIR FAULTY ENGINEERING. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TONIGHT AND WAS TOLD THERE'S NOTHING GM CAN DO. I STRONGLY DISAGREE. GM CAN DO THE RIGHT THING. I REQUESTED A CASE BE OPENED AND WAS GIVEN #83734190593 AFTER PRESSING (PAUL) FOR ONE. IN THE END. GM WAS OF NO HELP AND MY VIN IS STILL IN LIMBO, SO I'M FILING MY COMPLAINT HERE.
RATTLES WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. SMELLS OF GASOLINE FROM VEHICLE WHEN RUNNING. THIS BEGAN IN DECEMBER 2017 AND CONTINUES TO THIS DAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROST WAS INOPERABLE. GREY CHEVROLET (4949 SW HOVDE RD, PORT ORCHARD, WA 98367, (360) 329-2916) DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
OIL CONSUMPTION - HAVE JUST RECEIVED THE WARNING OIL PRESSURE LOW - STOP ENGINE. COME TO FIND OUT IT IS ONLY COVERED BEFORE 120,000 MILES OR BY SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR. I RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE DOCUMENTED ALL SERVICE CHARGES AND TIMING OF ADDITIONAL OIL USED. TALKED WITH GM AND THEY WILL NOT OFFER TO REIMBURSE FOR CHARGES INCURRED.
WITHOUT WARNING MY CHECK OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I HAD LESS THAN A BLOCK TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BEFORE MY ENGINE FAILED. AFTER HAVING IT INSPECTED BY 3 DIFFERENT INSPECTORS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY PCV VALVE FROZE AND CAUSED MY REAR MAIN SEAL TO LEAK ALL MY OIL VERY RAPIDLY. THIS IN TURN CAUSED MY ENGINE TO SEIZE. THIS PVC ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. THIS IS SOMETHING GM NEEDS TO TAKE OWERSHIP OF AND CORRECT! THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD!
GM 2.4 ECOTEC ENGINE PLUGGED PCV VALVE. VALVE WAS FOUND BY DEALER AS BEING FROZEN SHUT CAUSING THE CRANKCASE TO PRESSURIZE AND BLOW OUT THE READ CRANK SHAFT SEAL COSTING $1817 TO REPAIR. THIS IS NOT AN UNKNOWN PROBLEM FOR GM. OTHER MAKES AND MODELS OF A SEVERAL YEAR SPAN WITH THE ECOTEC 2.4 HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN 14882 TO COVER TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. GM IS REFUSING TO COVER THIS ENGINE BECAUSE IT WASN'T PART OF THE "SPECIAL RECALL" ISSUED MARCH 2015. IT HAS BECOME APPARENT THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER ALL THE ECOTEC 2.4 ENGINES. HAD THIS VEHICLE BEEN ON A HIGHWAY OR HEAVY TRAFFIC THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE BLOWN OR SEIZED DUE TO LACK OF OIL. THIS ECOTEC ENGINE HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS RESULTING IN RECALLS. TIMING CHAINS PREMATURELY WEARING OUT TO PISTON RINGS WEARING AND CAUSING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE HAD JUST STARTED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM. AFTER A FRESH OIL CHANGE THE ENGINE PROMPTLY BLEW OUT OVER 4 QUARTS OF OIL IN LESS THAN 15 MILES. HAD I NOT CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION START POINT THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVEN UNTIL THE ENGINE SEIZED UP MORE THAN LIKELY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT..... WHICH BRINGS ME TO ANOTHER POINT. DO I NEED TO CONTACT THE EPA OVER THE OIL LEAKS ON COUNTLESS GM VEHICLES? UNDER MY ESTIMATE THIS SINGLE GM VEHICLE DUMPED APPROXIMATELY 2 GALLONS OF SYNTHETIC OIL TO THE ENVIRONMENT BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED. HOW MANY THOUSANDS OF GALLONS ARE BEING DUMPED DUE TO GM REFUSAL TO OWN UP TO THEIR BAD DESIGN? I UNDERSTAND THIS WEBSITE MAY BE TO DEAL WITH MORE SAFETY CONCERNS BUT GM INSISTED I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOU..
THE VEHICLE HAS SUFFERED SEVERAL ENGINE FAILURE SINCE I PURCHASED IT. SEVERAL SENSORS AND MODULE HAVE GONE OUT, COSTS OF OVER $1500.00 TO DATE. FAULTY ELECTRICAL PANEL FAILED TO INDICATE THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON OIL, AND OVERHEATING. THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND WITHIN A MONTH, THE OIL HAD DEPLETED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. NONE OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS SIGNALED AND THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE DRIVING, THE MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE FROZE UP AND IT IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE MECHANIC SAID THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD TWO QUARTS OF OIL BUT WAS NOT SIGNALING ANY OIL PROBLEMS AND IT SHOULD HAVE. THE SENSORS AND ELECTRIC PANEL WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER NEVER DISCLOSED ANY RECALLS TO ME WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED. THE MECHANIC IS GETTING THE HISTORY TOGETHER OF WORK PERFORMED. I WILL UPLOAD AS I GET THEM.
ENGINE OIL IS BURNING BY PASSING THROUGH AND GOING OUT THE EXHAUST.
THIS CAR HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS & RECALLS BY GM. IN 2017 I HAVE REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP X 2, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, TRANSMISSION, SVC TRACTION, ABS STABILITY TRACK, SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER, STRUT MOUNTS, LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS, L & R REAR TRAIL ARM BUSHINGS, THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR IS BURNING OIL EXCESSIVELY AND I AM KEEPING RECORDS OF THIS AS THERE IS A RECALL/LAWSUIT PENDING ON THIS ISSUE CURRENTLY. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SO MUCH OF THESE ITEMS WERE REPAIRED UNDER THAT EXCEPT LABOR AND TAXES WHICH STILL IS EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF REPAIRS AND MONEY I SPENT ON A 6 YEAR OLD CAR. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.
WHEN SEATING IN THE DRIVER SEAT TURN ON THE CAR MY AIR BAG WARREN COME ON EVEN WHEN I TURNING THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT IT COME ON AND I DID GET WARRANT CARD AND I CALL A CHEVY DEALER IN QUINCY FLA AND THEY SAID THEY DID IT STILL IT KEEP POPPING UP LET TALK ABOUT THAT OIL THAT I KEEP LOSING WITH IN 4WEEK BOUT THE OIL WHEN I GET A OIL CHARGE WHEN IN A 3 WEEK CHECKING MY CAGE AND CHECKING MY OIL STICK NOW I KNOW WHAT THE CAGE ON THE OIL STICK LEVEL SHOULD BE I HAVE A UNCLE THAT WORKS FOR CHEVROLET DEALER IN UPPER STATE THAT SHOW ME WHAT TO LOOK FOR NOW THIS DON'T MAKE SENSE SO
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND I WENT TO START IT AND IT WOULDN'T START, SO I GOT IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE. THEY FOUND A LOT OF NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE SO THEY CHECKED THE COMPRESSION AND FOUND 0 PSI ON ALL CYLINDERS. THEY FOUND THE VALVES BENT AND TOP OF PISTONS SMASHED. EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION DUE TO PISTON RING WEAR CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE VEHICLE'S REPAIR COSTS. *JS
WHEN EXITING THE CAR ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE MOST RECENT TIME THAT MADE ME REALIZE THE SAFETY HAZARD AT HAND WAS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2017. I PARKED AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF WHILE PUTTING MY COAT ON AND MY DAUGHTER BEGAN EXITING THE PASSENGER SIDE. AS I WENT TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD. I PUSHED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND IT STOPPED. BECAUSE SHE WAS HOLDING ONTO THE DOOR, IT STARTLED MY DAUGHTER AND SHE WAS SHAKEN THINKING WE WERE GOING TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT PARKED OF US. I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF, MOVED THE CAR FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY.
3 COMPLAINTS CONTAINED WITHIN - COMPLAINT #1 - I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH CAM SHAFT ACTUATORS AND EXHAUST ISSUES IN THIS VEHICLE. THIS HAS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO STALL IN BUSY INTERSECTIONS AND TO ALSO GO INTO "LIMP" MODE ON THE INTERSTATE. GOING 70MPH AND THE ENGINE GOING INTO LIMP MODE IS DANGEROUS. THANKFULLY THERE WERE ALERT DRIVER AROUND ME THAT WERE ABLE TO HELP ME GET TO THE EMERGENCY LANES SAFELY. THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THIS VEHILCE FOR SOME OF THESE ISSUES - BUT CONVENIENTLY - MY VEHICLE WAS NOT RECALLED. THREE DIFFERENT GM/CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS HAVE WORKED ON MY VEHICLE AND HAVE CONTACTED GM ON MY BEHALF - BUT GM HAS COVERED NO FIXES AND I HAVE BEEN OUT OVER $2000 ON THESE FIXES THAT WERE COVERED UNDER RECALLS - BUT NOT ON MY VEHICLE. 2ND COMPLAINT - I NOW HAVE FUEL PUMP ISSUES. AGAIN, A RECALL WAS ISSUED IN JULY 2016 FOR FUEL PUMP ISSUES. THE RECALL IS FOR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND ENGINE AS MINE....BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL.....EVEN MY VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHILE IDLING AT INTERSECTIONS AND AGAIN - SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE CHILDREN AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THIS HAPPENING. GM SEEMS TO NOT BE CONCERNED. 3RD ISSUE - TAKATA RECALL - MY AIR BAG ALERT LIGHT WILL COME ON - BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE - YET AGAIN - MY VEHICLE SEEMS TO NOT BE ON THE LIST. SAFETY ISSUE - YES. I HAVE HAD AN OPEN CASE NUMBER WITH GM CORPORATE FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS - BUT SUGGESTIONS ALWAYS SEEM TO BE ON MY DIME....NOT THEIRS. AT THIS POINT - MY VEHICLE IS A "LEMON" IN MY EYES...AND IF ME OR MY FAMILY GET INJURED BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES...WELL.....
FOR THE LAST 5000 MILES, AT TIMES, WHEN IDLING AT A STOPLIGHT OR INTERSECTION, THE ENGINE JUMPS EVEN WITH THE FOOT ON THE BREAK. THIS IS FRIGHTENING IN THAT IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE MAY ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN AND HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OR GO INTO THE INTERSECTION.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD AND THE CAR JERKED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I TRIED TO PUSH IT, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO. I SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP LIGHT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. ONCE I MANAGED TO GET IT INTO A PARKING LOT, ALL GEARS TOTALLY LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT EVEN GET IT IN NEUTRAL. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I ONLY HAVE 76K MILES ON THIS ONE BEFORE IT WENT UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, AN AUDIBLE TICKING NOISE WAS PRESENT FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER CLASSIC CHEVROLET (6877 CENTER ST, MENTOR, OH (440-602-6020) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL WAS BLOWN DUE TO MOISTURE IN THE PCV. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF DRIVING IN EXTREMELY LOW WEATHER TEMPERATURES FOR EXTENDED PERIODS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,500. *TT *TR
THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON UPON STARTING IT ONE MORNING , BUT HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS A TOTAL OF 58,863 MILES ON IT. CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED!
I HAVE A 2011 EQUINOX IT'S GOT 146,000 MILES . I AM FAITHFUL WITH OIL CHANGES AND LAST WEEK WHEN I WENT TO GET IT CHANGED I WAS TOLD MY ENGINE HAD NO OIL. MY OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED ON THE DAY PRIOR. I WAS TOLD THERE WASN'T ANY LEAKS. SO AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FIND THERE IS A OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM, HOWEVER SINCE MY MILES ARE I'VE 120,000 I DON'T QUALIFY FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS NOT RIGHT! MY CAR COULD HAVE BURNT UP BECAUSE MY LIGHT NEVER INDICATED A PROBLEM AND GM NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF HE ISSUES!
EXTREME HARD DOWN SHIFT BETWEEN 35-45 MPH. DEALER SAYS "TRANSMISSION IS FRIED" "PLATES ARE CHARRED". THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. IT HAS HAD ALREADY 2-3 RECALLS & THIS TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS & THEY WILL NOT MAKE THIS A RECALL & THEY WILL NOT HELP PAY FOR REPAIR ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE HELPED OTHERS. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT DUE TO DRIVER ERROR BUT DUE TO FAILURE OF THE PART. DEALER IS CHARGING AN ARM/LEG TO FIX IT. GENERAL MOTORS CLEARLY DOES NOT CARE.
10-10-2017 - WHILE DRIVING HOME DURING A HEAVY RAINSTORM, WIPERS GOING FULL SPEED, WIPERS STOPPED WITH ONE WIPER GOING OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, OTHER WIPER STOPPED IN MY DRIVING VIEW. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO GET PARKED, I LAID THE WIPER BLADES DOWN, TRIED THE GET THEM TO WORK BUT ONLY HEARD THE MOTOR RUN, WIPERS NOT MOVING. HAD THEM CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A NEW WIPER TRANSMISSION. THIS ONE HAD A WORN OUT PART THAT WOULD CONTINUE TO POP OUT OF SOCKET IF USED. I'VE READ OF OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING. GM NEEDS TO MAKE THIS A RECALL. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS. GM WIPER MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION IS ROUGHLY $150.00 AT THE DEALERSHIP PLUS THEIR LABOR COST. THIS SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT SO SOON ON A 2011 MODEL.
STALLING OUT WHILE SITTING IN DRIVE AT RED LIGHT. GOT UP FOR WORK AND TURNED TRUCK ON, SOUNDED VERY ROUGH. PUT TRUCK IN REVERSE AND TOOK OFF AND WHEN STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT THE RPMS WOULD MOVE ON THEIR OWN, CAR STARTS BOUNCING, MOTOR IS RATTLING, AND SOMETIMES STALLS OUT. I HAVE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AT EVERY LIGHT FOR IT TO NOT ROCK BACK AND FOURTH. NEXT DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME OUT, READINGS INDICATED IT WAS THE THROTTLE SENSOR BODY AND THE SOLENOIDS. I REPLACED ALL OF THESE AND TRUCK IS STILL RUNNING THE SAME, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE READ WELL OVER 50 OF THE SAME COMPLAINT OF THESE VEHICLES DOING THE SAME THING! WE NEED HELP!
THE WINDSHIELD PIPER CAME LOOSE AND SLAMMED AGAINST MY WINDOW
ENGINE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT. TIMING CHAIN SLIPPED AND RUINED MY ENTIRE ENGINE, NO WARNINGS, NO SIGNALS OR NONE OF ANY KIND. READING ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THERE SHOULD OF BEEN A RECALL ON THIS 2.4L ENGINE FROM GM A LONG TIME AGO! MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AND UP TO DATE SINCE CAR WAS FIRST DRIVEN OFF LOT.
MOTOR ON 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX BLEW UP. DEALER STATED THAT WHEN THEY PULLED THE OIL PAN THEY FOUND PISTON, ROD AND RINGS. QUOTED IT WOULD BE >$9,000 TO REPAIR FOR THE MOTOR, GASKETS AND CAT. CONVERTOR. ASKED IF THIS WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. STATED IT WASN'T. I QUESTIONED ABOUT THE PISTONS BEING REPLACED LAST YEAR. HE STATED THAT IT WAS 1.5YR AND 27,000 MILES AGO. HE SAID THAT THERE WAS NO COVERAGE. I ASKED WHY WOULD THESE GO BAG WITH ONLY 27,000 MILES ON THE REPAIR ON ONLY 116,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. HE SAID DUE TO OIL. THE DEALER HAS COMPLETED ALL OIL CHANGES THE LAST 2-3 YEARS AS LEAST AFTER STARTING TO HAVE ALL THE ISSUES WITH OIL CONSUMPTION AND OTHER PROBLEMS. ALL OIL CHANGES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BASED ON OIL USAGE PROMPTED BY CAR. IT SEEMS THAT THE ISSUE IS CAUSED BY THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND HAS JUST TAKEN TIME FOR THE RODS/CRANK TO GIVE WAY. CHEVY SHOULD ISSUE RECALL FOR REPLACEMENT OF WHOLE ENGINE NOT JUST THE PISTONS. IF PISTONS ARE FAULTY DUE TO LACK OF OIL THERE ARE MORE ISSUES UNDERLYING.
MY 2011 EQUINOX HAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE PROBLEMS SINCE WE PURCHASED IT BEGINNING WITH THE OIL LIFE MONITORING SYSTEM, WHICH GM ACKNOWLEDGED, THROUGH A DANGEROUS FAILURE OF THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM IN 2014 WHILE IN MOTION ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS (POSTED TO NHSTA), RESULTING IN AN ENGINE REBUILD IN 2016, WHICH GM TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR. UNFORTUNATELY, THE INITIAL PROBLEMS OCCURRED BEYOND THE LEMON CAR LIMIT IN OUR STATE AND CONTINUE TODAY. IN SEPTEMBER 2017 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVY DEALER AFTER NOTICING SIGNIFICANT EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN PARTICULARLY WHILE STATIONARY DURING START UP. IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CRACKED MANIFOLD. THE MANIFOLD HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED IN JANUARY OF 2016 AS PART OF AN ENGINE REBUILD AT GM'S EXPENSE. THIS WOULD THEREFORE BE THE THIRD MANIFOLD IN THIS VEHICLE IN ONLY SIX YEARS. BOTH THE DEALER AND I FILED WITH GM CUSTOMER CARE TO REQUEST COVERAGE FOR THE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT. I HAVE NOT YET HEARD BACK BUT REMAIN HOPEFUL THAT GM WILL ONCE AGAIN STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER AND MANEUVERABILITY. THE ENGINE MOUNTED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IN THESE VEHICLES MAY DEVELOP EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE PLUNGER PISTON SHAFT AND SHAFT SEAL. IF THIS HAPPENS FUEL CAN LEAK INTO THE ENGINE OIL CRANKCASE AND RESULT IN THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH AND ILLUMINATION OF THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR PAST SEVERAL YEARS.

CALLED AND GOT AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP. RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE MECHANIC ON AUGUST 31ST TELLING US THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1600.00. MY 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX ONLY HAS 52000 MILES ON IT, SHAME ON YOU GM - A TIMING CHAIN SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY SINCE YOU ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE WITH THESE TIMING CHAINS.
AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE OF HOURS ON FREEWAY I TURNED ONTO GRATIOT AVE, SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST FORWARD MOTION POWER. I WAS VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAD A 2 MONTH OLD INFANT IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOST REVERSE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE 3RD/5TH/REVERSE CLUTCH WAVE PLATE HAD FAILED AND I WOULD NEED A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION. I INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP THAT THESE CLUTCH WAVE PLATES HAVE HIGH FAILURE RATES GOING BACK TO 2007 AND GM SHOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THEIR COST. I AM AWAITING THEIR DECISION. ONLY 74,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.

BRANDED TITLE IS STOPPING THE FIXING OF PROBLEM. ONLY ISSUE TO MAKE TITLE BRANDED WAS BUMPER AND AC UNIT ISSUES(HAD TO DO WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY IN THE STATE IT HAPPENED IN). THERE WASN'T ANY DAMAGE TO ENGINE / MOTOR. GM WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT LIKE THEY CLAIM. THEY ALREADY ISSUED THIS POLICY #15285, THEY SHOULD HONOR THE FIX!! - REGARDLESS! WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY MAIN THOROUGHFARE DURING A RAINSTORM MY WINDSHILED WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. I QUICKLY CUT ON MY HAZARDS AND PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY DAUGHTER AND I COULD HEAR A MOTOR HUM WHEN I TURNED THE WIPERS ON BUT THEY NEVER MOVED. WE WERE STRANDED TO AN HOUR UNTIL THE STORM PASSED AND I COULD SEE TO DRIVE AGAIN. OUR DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME BETWEEN MEMPHIS, TN AND NASHVILLE, TN, DURING A THUNDERSTORM. HER WIPERS AT FULL BLAST, WENT TO THE LEFT AND STOPPED! ALL SHE COULD DO IS PULL OVER AND WAIT UNTIL, THE STORM PASSED. AS PARENTS, LAST THING YOU WANT TO HEAR IS YOUR 25 YEAR DAUGHTER IS SITTING ON THE SIDE OF I40 AT NIGHT UNABLE TO TRAVEL AND WE LIVE 8 HOURS AWAY! THE NEXT MORNING SHE CHECKED THE WIPERS, NOPE, NA-DA. SAID SHE CAN HEAR THE MOTOR HUMMING, BUT NOTHING IS WORKING. EVERYONE NEAR HER WANTS 350.00 + TO REPLACE IT.... THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY FOR A GRADUATE STUDENT! SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM GM, YOU NEED TO DO THE RIGHT THING!
THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE APPEARS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN THERE IS A BUMP, HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME. POWER STEERING WILL BEGIN WORKING AGAIN AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES.
