EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ... VEHICLE HAS 88,000 MILES ON IT. LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND GMC WON'T FIX. THEY SAY BULLETIN FOR REPAIRS IS EXPIRED. WE DID NOT RECEIVE NOTICE GMC WOULD REPAIR AND WE'VE HAD VEHICLE IN FOR OIL CHANGES THREE TIMES IN THE LAST TWELVE MONTHS.
IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS WE HAVE REPLACED BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE, VEHICLE HAD LESS THEN 150,000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS REMOVING ITEMS OUT OF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, THE LIFTGATE INADVERTENTLY CLOSED AND STRUCK HIM ON THE HEAD. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DEALER (BUBBA OUSTALET CHEVROLET CADILLAC, 819 N MAIN ST, JENNINGS, LA 70546, (337)-246-5041) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,966. *TT
WIPER MODULE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY FAILED DURING RAIN STORM. I WAS DRIVING ON A 70 MILE AN HOUR HIGHWAY AT THE TIME. DRIVER'S WIPER BLADE WENT OFF THE WINDSHIELD TO THE LEFT AND WOULD NOT MOVE AFTER THAT.
FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. MOTOR DOES RUN.
2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AT 89,000 MILES ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON RENDERING BOTH THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL USELESS. REPAIRS REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS DUE TO THE FACT THE RELUCTOR RINGS / MAGNETIC RINGS ON BOTH BEARINGS HAD STARTED TO DISINTEGRATE MISSING LARGE PORTIONS OF IT. APPARENTLY THESE RELUCTOR RINGS ARE POORLY GLUED ON. THIS SAFETY DEVICE SHOULD HAVE LASTED MUCH LONGER. AT $125 PER BEARING PLUS LABOR THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX.
ON JUNE 4, 2018 I PICKED MY CAR UP FROM THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AFTER AN OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WAS ADDRESSED. UPON LEAVING THE PARKING LOT, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. AT A CERTAIN POINT IN THE TURN, THE WHEEL VIOLENTLY JERKS BACK TO THE CENTER POSITION. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS ANOTHER SPECIAL REPAIR BULLETIN ISSUED BY GM ON THIS SPECIFIC MAKE/MODEL. ON THURSDAY, JUNE 7TH, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETE. WHEN I ARRIVED TO PICK THE CAR UP, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE INFORMED ME THAT WHILE DRIVING IT FROM THE SERVICE CENTER TO THE FRONT OF THE DEALERSHIP HE NOTICED THE ISSUE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. CALLED THE FOLLOWING DAY, JUNE 8TH, WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AGAIN. PICKED IT UP, DROVE ABOUT 100 MILES BEFORE THE ISSUE REAPPEARED, THIS TIME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. MANAGED TO PARK THE CAR FOR 10 MINUTES, PROBLEM RESOLVED. PROBLEM REAPPEARED 50 MILES LATER. DISAPPEARED AND REAPPEARED FOR THE NEXT 200 MILES. CAR IS BACK WITH DEALER. NO INDICATION IF IT CAN OR WILL BE REPAIRED. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS. WHEN ACTIVELY MALFUNCTIONING, WHICH COULD START AND STOP AT ANY TIME, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO NAVIGATE A LEFT TURN, IT IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT LANES, I SUSPECT IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO QUICKLY VEER LEFT TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I'VE BEEN ADVISED TO TRADE THE CAR IN. THE DEALERSHIP CURRENTLY HAS TWO IDENTICAL MAKE/MODEL YEARS FOR SALE ON THE LOT. IN ADDITION TO ALL OF THE OTHER ISSUES GM HAS SOLD WITH THIS CAR, THE NEW STEERING ISSUE IS GOING TO HURT OR KILL SOMEONE. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE IT DOES.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STALLS AND IT DOES IT ALSO WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LITE AND THEN WHEN RESTARTED IT SURGES. THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT IN MY CAR. CANNOT BELIEVE WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO RECALL, REALLY. MAYBE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED YET. MINE STALLED OUT 4 TIMES JUST TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND THEN WITHIN A BLOCK IT DID IT IN TRAFFIC.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON NEEDS TO BE SERVICED IT KEEPS SAYING AIRBAGS ARE OFF THIS LIGHT COMES ON EVERYTIME EQUINOX IS IN MOTION AND CONTINUES TO BEEP ALL THE TIME!
TODAY I ADDED MY NAME TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, CASE NO. 3:17-CV-5337 THAT WAS FILED ON 9/14/17 IN THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA AGAINST GM REGARDING MY 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. IF YOU'RE AFFECTED, ADD YOUR NAME AS WELL AS FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. FEB2017, I PURCHASED SAID AUTO WITH 69,684 MILES IN GOOD CONDITION. ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE AT A RED LIGHT THE SUV SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. BEING UNABLE TO RESTART THE SUV, IT WAS TOWED ON MAY 25, 2018 TO MY MECHANIC (CB ISLAND, 589 UNION AVE, WESTBURY, NY) TO FIND THAT THERE WERE DAMAGED VALVES, A BROKEN TIMING CHAIN, AND A BLOWN ENGINE AT 93,675 MILES. THIS MILEAGE IS WELL UNDER GM'S SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT MILEAGE OF 120K. THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR WAS LACK OF OIL IN THE ENGINE. BEING DILIGENT IN GETTING OIL CHANGES, THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE OIL WAS LOW IN THE CAR. GM REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY THOUGH THEY KNEW OF THE DEFECT ON THESE ENGINES. THERE ARE MANY ALMOST IDENTICAL MECHANICAL ISSUES OVER MULTIPLE YEARS FOR THE CHEVY EQUINOX. THIS IS NOT JUST A FEW OF US THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ENGINE FAILURE, BUT ENOUGH TO HAVE A CLASS ACTION INITIATED. HAVING A $16K LOAN REMAINING, I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO REPAIR THE ENGINE. THE GOVERNMENT (WHICH WAS ASSISTED GM OUT OF BANKRUPTCY) NEEDS TO HOLD GM ACCOUNTABLE BY FORCING THEM TO TAKE ACTION BY RECALLING ALL AFFECTED MODELS, AND TO REIMBURSE THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY MADE THE REPAIRS IN ADDITION TO HAVING GM INSPECT THE REPAIRED ENGINES TO ENSURE NO FUTURE PROBLEMS TO PRE-EMPT THE FATALITIES THAT WILL EVENTUALLY BEGIN TO ADD UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE IDLING AT A STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT PURCHASED AND REPLACED THE PART. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER: 8-4214923931. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,722. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY PUT QUARTS OF OIL IN TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T RUN DRY. IT'S BEEN A CONSTANT ISSUE WITH MECHANICS I'VE TAKEN IT TO AT THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THEY'VE SEEN EVERY EQUINOX THEY WORKED ON HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINES BURNING THROUGH OIL.
CAR STALLED OUT WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND DRIVE HOME. WAS SCHEDULED FOR AN OIL CHANGE THE NEXT DAY, WENT TO DRIVE THE CAR AND MADE IT THREE HOUSES DOWN BEFORE IT STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID IT JUMPED TIME, AND THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND MADE A MESS OF THE ENGINE. ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FAILED AT 73K MILES. BOUGHT THE CAR CERTIFIED USED AT 36K TWO YEARS AGO AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED REGULARLY. DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR REPAIRS AND CHEVY DEALER WON'T FIX....
THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE.THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHEN IDLE IS LOW.
MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING TODAY, WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, I PULLED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I ALMOST DIED BECAUSE THEY WAS NO SHOULDER LANE AT THE TIME. MY FRIEND CAME AND GUIDED ME ON BASE AT A LOCAL SHOP. I TALKED TO CHEVY THEY DID NOT CARE STATING THE RECALL WAS NOT FOR THIS YEAR. I THOUGHT THAT WAS STUPID BECAUSE IT WAS THE SAME PART. CHEVY HAD RECALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, SAME MAKE, MODEL OF THE NEXT YEAR AND BEYOND.
This model with this VIN# was not listed for a recall, however, it burns oil excessively. The oil gets changed to only have to add oil numerous times before the next oil change. It is absolutely absurd that I have to purchase oil by the gallon. The second problem is the A/C. The check engine light comes on at times when the A/C is on, stays on for days or a week or so, go off, comes back on, and the cycle continues to repeat itself. The mass airflow sensor, oxygen sensors(upstream and down-stream) spark plugs, have all been replaced many times thinking the replacement parts were defected. It appears all of this has to do with a vehicle that was not well built. This car has had a lot of things to go wrong to include the transmission which was no good, and it does not appear that much else about the vehicle is good. It has taken a lot to keep this vehicle running! General Motors, please recall this vehicle? I do not have photos of the oil problem, because I am checking it approximately every two weeks, and more often if I must travel a long distance. I add oil as needed. The situation with the air resulted from getting the check engine light read at an auto parts store, and it is unnerving that it is always the same thing. I want to allow my grandson to take this car to college in August, but there is some uncertainty.
2011 EQUINOX 2LT FWD WITH LESS THAN 70,000 MILES NEEDS AN ENTIRE NEW TRANSMISSION. NO HARD DRIVING. NO TOWING. REGULAR USE TO AND FROM WORK. CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING ONLY. ONE MORNING SIMPLY REFUSED TO GO INTO DRIVE, EVEN THOUGH REVERSE WORKS FINE. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. CANNOT BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.
THIS 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX IS PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT (ELLEN BERMAN, ET AL. V. GENERAL MOTORS LLC - CASE NO. 2:18-CV-14371). GM KNEW ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND THE LACK OF OIL GAUGES, RESULTING IN PISTON WEAR AND FAILURE, CAUSING ENGINES TO SEIZE, YET CONTINUED TO MANUFACTURE THEM AS IS FOR YEARS AFTERWARD. HAD TO HAVE ENGINE REBUILT, COSTING ALMOST $4,000. RECEIVED DENIAL OF ANY REIMBURSEMENT FROM ANALYTICS CONSULTING LLC, WHO IS THE SETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATOR. VEHICLE IS NOT WORTH SELLING TO ANYONE, NOR WOULD I, IN GOOD CONSCIENCE, PUT THIS RUST BUCKET OUT THERE FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE OIL ISSUE. (CONTINUES TO LEAK). GOT UPSIDE-DOWN ON LOAN...HAD TO USE TAX REFUND TO PAY IT OFF. WOULD REALLY LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE ENGINE REPAIR AND LABOR COSTS. IT'S THE RIGHT THING FOR GENERAL MOTORS TO DO. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM PRODUCT! I AM SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF MY YOUNG DAUGHTER, TO WHOM THIS HAPPENED.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving approximately 70 MPH, the “Low Oil Pressure - Stop Engine” warning was displayed as the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The contact stated that her daughter stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator was depressed. The driver pulled over, turned off the vehicle and waited for a few minutes before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to a nearby parking lot. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the failure cause was diagnosed as excessive oil consumption. Additionally, the timing chain needed to be replaced. The contact stated that other engine parts also needed to be replaced. The unknown parts were replaced however, the failure continued. The vehicle was still at the independent mechanic waiting to be repaired. The contact stated that the failure first started three years ago. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was diagnosed as engine sludge and that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was not replaced due to the cost. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was opened. The contact stated that the case was denied. The approximate failure was 115,000

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM TAYLOR CHEVROLET (139 GRIMSHAW ST, RAYVILLE, LA 71269), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,012.
DURING HEAVY RAIN STORM WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING @ 65 MPH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BOTH STOPPED WORKING. THE ARM THAT LINKS THE MOTOR TO THE WIPER TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED DURING RUSH HOUR. GENERAL MOTORS CALLS THE PART THAT FAILED WIPER TRANSMISSION. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE CHEVROLET PARTS DEPT EMPLOYEE HE STATED ITS A VERY COMMON FAILURE AND ITS THE EXACT PART THAT IS RECALLED ON 2013 EQUINOX.

WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND VIBRATE SEVERELY. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF LOSING CONTROL AND CRASHING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LONE STAR CHEVROLET (18900 NORTHWEST PKWY, JERSEY VILLAGE, TX) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALL JOINTS AND CONTROL ARM WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
GAS ORDER AND OTHERS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. GAS MILEAGE HAS DECREASED. UNDETECTED GAS LEAK .
I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES I BEEN MAINTAINING TO AVOID ENGINE ISSUES. CHEVY WILL CHECK HOWEVER WANTS ME TO PAY FOR OIL CHANGE TEST AND SAID THEY WILL CHARGE ME IF THEY FEEL THE ENGINE HAS ISSUES DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE. THE HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION IS CAUSING THIS AND APPEARS AS A WAY TO TURN CUSTOMERS AWAY TO AVOID COSTS TO THEM. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
IN THE MIDDLE OF ACCELERATING OUT OF A PARKING LOT INTO TWO WAY TRAFFIC,VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE QUIT ACCELERATING TO A STOP AND ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS IN NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE. NO ENGINE REVVING SOUND (ENGINE SOUNDED "NORMAL") WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED (TO THE FLOOR), AND VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS (DUE TO SLOPE NATURE OF PARKING LOT) EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, HOPING IT WOULD "RESET" , THEN PUT BACK INTO DRIVE WITH NO FORWARD MOTION OR ENGINE REVVING WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED. I THEN PUT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE I WAS ABLE TO APPROPRIATELY ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE.
TIMING BELT FAILED WITHIN TWO YEARS OF THE FIRST TIME BEING FIXED. FIRST TIME WAS WHEN VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED AT APPROX 123K, SECOND TIME IT HAS FAILED IS APPROX 179K. THERE IS AN ONGOING OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HEARD THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE OIL ISSUE THAT WAS NOT PUBLICALLY ANNOUNCED AND I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT WHY IT WASNT IF IN FACT THIS IS AN ISSUE. TIMING BELT SHOULD NOT FAIL TWICE . TOOK VEHICLE IN TO SHOP AFTER VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND JUMPING WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, IN DRIVE WITH THE BREAKS ON. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE, VECHICLE WOULD DRIVE BUT HAD SEVERE LOSS IN POER AND WAS VIBRATING THE WHOLE TIME. UPON TAKING TO THE SHOP AND HAVING AN ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE, IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS INDEED STRETCHED OUT AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED AT A COST OF $2500. THIS REPAIR HAD BEEN MADE TWO YEARS PRIOR AS WELL , HAVING HAD TO REPLACE THE CHAINS AND SUCH DUE TO THIS RECURRING AND ONGOIGN OIL ISSUE
EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, ENGINE MAKES NOISE, NEED TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 2000 MILES, NEED TO CHECK OIL LEVEL EVERY WEEK. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
WIPER BLADE MOTOR STOPPED WORKING IN A HEAVY DOWNPOUR. I WAS ON A ROAD I KNOW SO WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF SAFELY. IF I DIDN'T KNOW THIS ROAD I AM POSITIVE I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. THE MANIFOLD WAS CHANGED IN 2013. TODAY IS MARCH 22, 2018. LAST WEEK I HAD THE MANIFOLD CHANGED AGAIN. CRACKED AGAIN. THERE WERE FUMES COMING INTO THE PASSENGER AREA. THE CAR IS IN THE REPAIR GARAGE AGAIN BECAUSE THE FUMES ARE EVEN WORSE. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD A LOUD TICKING SOUND. IT USES A LOT OF OIL. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. THEY DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND SAID THE OIL USE WAS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. HOW CAN THIS BE NORMAL RANGE WHEN I PUT A COUPLE QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 200 MILES. THIS CAR IS JUNK.
I HAD THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AT THOMAS CHEVROLET IN MEDIA, PENNSYLVANIA DUE TO OIL BEING LOW. FOLLOWED UP EVERY 1,000 MILES AND THE OIL WAS ALWAYS 1/2 QT OR MORE LOW. ON DECEMBER 3, 2018, I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUES WITH THE OIL. THE MILEAGE WAS 71,392. I BROUGHT IT BACK FOR AN OIL CHANGED ON MARCH 14, 2019 WITH THE MILEAGE BEING 73,996, WHICH IS ONLY 2,604 MILES LATER. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT MY ENGINE WAS DESTROYED. IT STARTED TO SHAKE AS I GOT TO A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I WENT TO THE SHOP, THE SAME DAY, IT WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. I KEEP REGULAR OIL CHANGES ON MY VEHICLE AND MY DAD OWNS A BODY SHOP SO IT WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE OIL TO BE GONE EXCEPT FOR A FLAW IN THE VEHICLE. I'M EXTREMELY UPSET THAT THIS WASN'T A FULL RECALL FROM CHEVY, THAT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. THE DEALER DID NOT ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED THE CONTACT A VOUCHER TOWARDS ANOTHER VEHICLE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY HAD SPECIAL COVERAGES ON THE VEHICLE THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT.(EVEN THOUGH I OWNED THE CAR AT THE TIME THE SPECIAL COVERAGES WERE RELEASED). THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT CHEVROLET WAS WELL AWARE THAT THIS CAR HAS A PROBLEM WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. (I ALREADY NEW THAT WITH OIL CHANGES AND HAVING TO ADD A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES). THE DEALERSHIP ALSO INFORMED ME THAT CHEVROLET, NEW THAT THE TIMING CHAIN ON THIS VEHICLE WOULD BREAK AND BE VERY DANGEROUS TO THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD ALSO FIX THAT ON SPECIAL COVERAGES. I TOLD THEM TO GO AHEAD AND FIX THESE TWO ISSUES. THEY TOOK THE ENGINE APART, AND INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE OF THESE 2 ISSUES THAT GM AND CHEVROLET WERE WELL AWARE OF, IT HAD SCORING IN MY CYLINDERS. THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING BECAUSE IT WOULD IDLE OUT OF CONTROL AND SHUT ITSELF OFF OUT OF NOWHERE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONFIDENT THAT THE SCORING ON THE CYLINDERS WAS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE TWO ISSUES THAT WERE COVERED UNDER THE SPECIAL COVERAGES. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY OF THESE SPECIAL COVERAGES FROM GM OR CHEVROLET. THE SECOND TIME LESS THAN 2 YEARS LATER WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TH AAA CERTIFIED CARE CARE CENTER AND AGAIN SAME THING, MANIFOLD LARGE CRACK MUST BE REPLACED AND AAA TECH TOLD ME SAME STORY, CHEVY EQUINOX MANIFOLD ARE WIDELY KNOWN NOT TO LAST. I OWN A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LS AWD WITH ROUGHLY 86,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING BACK AN APPOINTMENT THIS MORNING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THE "ENGINE REDUCED POWER"/"SERVICE STABILITRAK SYSTEM" LIGHTS TURNED ON. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MORNING TRAFFIC THAT WAS GOING 70MPH (THE SPEED LIMIT) AND HIGHER. THE VEHICLE'S RPM REDUCED SUDDENLY AND DRASTICALLY, AND I WAS ONLY ABLE TO SUSTAIN 40MPH. I WAS ALONE. I COASTED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS QUICKLY AS I COULD, STOPPED AT THE MULTI-LANE INTERSECTION, AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I COULD NOT RESTART IT. IT WAS 9 DEGREES OUTSIDE WITH SNOW ON THE GROUND, AND THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING IN THE VEHICLE, TOO. THE POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO WAIT OUTSIDE TO DIRECT TRAFFIC SO THAT I WOULD NOT GET HIT. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. CORPORATE HAS ONLY OFFERED 10% COST SHARE FOR A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND A KNOWN ISSUE BASED ON CONSUMER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. THE COMPLAINTS ARE CONSISTENT AND POINT TO ENGINE FAILURE WITH TOTAL REPLACEMENT IN THE RANGE I WAS QUOTED. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, AND IT IS A SHAME THAT A VEHICLE WITH SO FEW MILES AND YEARS NEEDS THIS TYPE OF REPAIR! THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND EITHER NEEDED A NEW ONE OR HAVE THE COMPUTER RE-FLASHED. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN RE-FLASH A TRANSMISSION MODULE COMPUTER IS A DEALERSHIP. BY NOW, I ALSO CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN FOR A SECOND TIME TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND NEEDED A NEW ONE. I STARTED THE REPAIR PROCESS SOON AFTER. I WANTED GENERAL MOTORS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW AND IT HAD 88,000 MILES ON IT. GM DID NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND I GOT STUCK WITH A $3800 BILL IN REPAIRS AND LABOR.
