BURNING OIL. I GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND WITHIN LESS THAN A MONTH I HAD NO OIL IN MY CAR. NOT USE AND DRIVEN A LOT EITHER.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE BUSY HIGHWAY 1 NEAR PRINCETON, NJ, IN A HEAVY RAIN STORM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE, CAUSING VISIBILITY TO BE NEARLY NON-EXISTENT AND ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE I COULD PULL OVER. THE WIPERS HAVE NOT WORKED AT ALL SINCE, CAUSING ME TO BE UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD. I HAD TO RECEIVE A TOW TO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION.
2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRAILER LIGHTING MALFUNCTION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MODULITE WAS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED.*JS
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURINGTHE DAY IN HEAVY RAIN. WITHOUT WARNING, BOTH WIPERS STOPPED IN THE UP POSITION. I TRIED TURNING THE WIPERS OFF AND BACK ON AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I TURNED THE WIPERS OFF AND FINISHED THE DRIVE HOME ' FORTUNATELY ONLY A MILE AWAY. COULD BARELY SEE OUT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD BUT DROVE SLOWLY WITH EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON.WHEN I GOT HOME, I LOCATED THE FUSE TO CHECK. IT WAS OK. I THEN TURNED ON THE WIPERS AND COULD HEAR THE MOTOR RUNNING BUT THE WIPERS WERE NOT MOVING. I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER TO GET IT FIXED ' THE NEXT DAY WHEN IT WAS NOT RAINING. FORTUNATELY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME BUT IF IT HAD BEEN RAINING OR SNOWING, IT WOULD HAVE BEN IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT SAFELY TO THE GARAGE TO GET FIXED. IN MY 50+ YEARS OF DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS AS A FAILURE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS IF DRIVING AWAY FROM HOME..
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING UNEXPECTEDLY IN A LIGHT RAIN. I CAN HEAR THE MOTOR WHEN THE WIPERS ARE ON BUT THE WIPER BLADES DON'T MOVE. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR CERTAIN MODEL YEARS AND/OR VINS IN CANADA FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY MODEL YEAR OR VIN #. THE CANADA RECALL MENTIONS CORROSION OF THE WIPER ASSEMBLY FROM ROAD SALT AND IMPROPER DRAINAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN, THE WIPERS FAILED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO VIEW THE ROAD. THE WIPER MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING; HOWEVER, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DUE TO FAULTY PISTON RINGS. MY CAR BURNS OIL LIKE CRAZY. THEY HAVEN'T EVEN ISSUED OUT A RECALL OR EVEN BOUGHT BACK THESE CARS WITH THE FAULTY ENGINE. I COULD BE ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY ENGINE COULD GO OUT AT ANY MOMENT. I GO THROUGH MAYBE A QUART OF OIL PER WEEK. I'M A COLLEGE STUDENT AND CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX THIS ISSUE.
MY 2012 CHEVY EQUINOX LT2 WITH A 2.4L 4 CYL, HAS HAD THE SAME CONDITION DIAGNOSED BY A CERTIFIED CHEVY DEALERSHIP, CLEMENTS CHEVROLET IN ROCHESTER, MN. BULLETIN #14882, DESCRIBES THE EXCESSIVE HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THIS VEHICLE, WITH THE PISTONS AND RINGS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED, DUE TO RECALL # 16118. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REGULARLY SCHEDULED VEHICLE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG AT THOSE INTERVALS. NOW THE PCV ORIFICE WAS PLUGGED BY MOISTURE IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, CAUSING THE MAIN SEAL TO BLOW OUT. THEY ARE TELLING ME IT'S NOT COVERED BY THEIR RECALL, DESPITE GM HAVING THIS ISSUE ON MODELS FROM 2010-2018 YEAR MODELS OF THE CHEVY EQUINOX 2.4L MOTOR. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW, AS OUTLINED BY THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT CURRENTLY BEING DECIDED IN THE COURTS OF FLORIDA, OVER THIS EXACT CASE.
BURNING LOTS OF OIL AND GM IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO HELP ME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED OPERATING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. MIKE CASTRUCCI CHEVROLET (1099 LILA AVE, MILFORD, OH) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE CAR STARTED GLITCHING AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE GOING ON AND OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE WIPERS AND TURN SIGNALS WERE FLASHING AS WELL. FOLLOWING ALL OF THIS THE MOTOR SHUT DOWN AND I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART IT WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR HAS SINCE BEEN PARKED AND IF I GO TO START IT AGAIN IT BEGINS WITH THE WIPERS ACTING OWN THEIR OWN AND IF IT DOES START THE MOTOR RUNS VERY ROUGH AND STALLS WITH NO WARNING. ALSO WHILE ALL THIS IS HAPPENING THE THROTTLE PEDAL HAS NO RESPONSE TO THE MOTOR.
DRIVING AT 40 MPH WITH WIPERS ON HIGH IN TRAFFIC..THE WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED MID WAY ACROSS WIND SHIELD. ..ALMOST WRECKED. PULLED OVER TO SIDE AND WAITED FOR STORM TO PASS..
WHILE RIDING ON THE HIGHWAY IN A STORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING FOR MY WIFE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, MY 9 YEAR OLD SON AND 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WERE IN THE CAR. THE 2013 EQUINOX HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME THING BUT IT SEEMS LIKE CHEVY IS WAITING FOR A CASUALTY BEFORE DOING THE RIGHT THING. THERE ARE MULTIPLE CASES OF THIS HAPPENING. MY WIPERS STARTED DOING INTERMITTENT OPERATING AND IT WAS RAINING AT NIGHT ON HIGHWAY. I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MILES PER HOUR. THIS WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT.
DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN. SWITCHED WINDSHIELD WIPERS FROM INTERMITTENT TO HIGH. WIPERS CLEARED WINDSHIELD ONCE, THEN SUDDENLY STOPPED ALL THE WAY UP, LEAVING ME COMPLETELY BLIND IN THE DARK IN A HEAVY STORM ON A BUSY FREEWAY. WIPERS WOULD NO LONGER FUNCTION. EVENTUALLY PULLED OVER, CHECKED FUSES/RELAYS, ETC. COULD HEAR THE WIPER MOTOR WORKING. PULLED OFF COWL AND FOUND WIPER MOTOR HAD DISCONNECTED FROM THE LINKAGE. WAS ABLE TO TEMPORARILY FIX THIS BY RUNNING A BOLT THROUGH THIS CONNECTION POINT.
KEY LOCKED IN KEYSWITCH.. CAN'T PUT THE VEHICLE IN ANY GEAR.. STUCK IN PARK..
HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE PISTON RING WEAR LEADING TO TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT AND EVENTUAL COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AT 75,831 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER NEWBERRY MOTORS INC LOCATED AT 1227 NEWBERRY AVE, NEWBERRY, MI 49868, (906) 293-5104, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.
AT LEAST EVERY 3 MONTHS TIRED PRESSURE IS OFF THEN A SENSOR THEN THE CAR STARTS TURNING OFF ON ME AND I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER.
LATE EVENING, I WAS DRIVING IN A BUSY SUBURBAN STREET WHER THE SPEED LIMIT IS 35MPH. IT WAS RAINING LIGHTLY, SOON AFTER START RAINING HAVILY. I SWITCHED THE WINSHIELD WIPER TO HIGH SPEED AND THE WINSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING.I COULD NO LONGER SEE WHERE I WAS GOING AND ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. I MANAGE TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO STOP.. PLASTIC BUSHING CAME OFF FROM WINDSHIELD WIPER RAILING. THE CAR HAS 61,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE, THE KEY FAILED TO EJECT FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE IN GEAR TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,794.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS THE LIGHTS DIM AND THE RADIO WILL SHUT OFF AND ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH WILL BIM AND BLINK. WHEN I HAVE THE CRUZ CONTROL ON THE CAR WILL START PICKING UP SPEED, AND ONE POINT I FELT I WAS GOING A LITTLE TO FAST AND WHEN I LOOKED DOWN I WAS DOING 83 MPH AND I HAD THE CRUZE CONTROL SET TO 60 MPH. ANGEL THE DRIVER SEAT WILL MOVE DOWN ON ITS OWN WHILE I AM DRIVING. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS RIGHT. I CALLED THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS MORE LIKELY A FUSE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT. MY TRACKSTION CONTROL GOES OFF BY IT SELF ALSO.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that her engine would burn excessive oil without warning while driving at various speeds. The contact called her dealer and was informed that her vehicle was out of warranty. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an unknown rate of speed, the vehicle shut off. The contact was uncertain if any warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where they diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, GOING 60 MPH IN THE PNW. IT WAS DUMPING RAIN AND I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE WHEN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING. I HAD MY 1 YEAR OLD IN THE BACKSEAT AND ALL I COULD SEE WAS ALL THE CARS AHEAD OF ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. MY WINDSHIELD WAS GLOWING RED FROM THE BREAK LIGHTS. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I DIDN'T CRASH MY CAR OR HIT THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS SO CLOSE TO THEM. I ROLLED DOWN MY WINDOW AND HAD TO LITERALLY STICK HALF THE UPPER PORTION OF MY BODY OUT THE WINDOW TO SEE A LITTLE BIT. THANK GOODNESS, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE OVER 4 LANES (AFTER FORCING MY WAY THROUGH, I HAD NO CHOICE BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE). EVERYONE WAS HONKING AT ME LIKE I WAS THE BIGGEST JERK, BUT IF I DIDN'T MOVE OVER I WAS GOING TO KILL US OR SOMEONE ELSE WHO WAS DRIVING. I AM SERIOUSLY LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. NOT SHOCKING, I LOOKUP THE ISSUE ONLINE AND CHEVY KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING. NOTHING! THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME CHEVY HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT THIS EQUINOX HAVING PROBLEMS. IT ALSO HAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. THIS CAR HAS COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, AND NOW IT DIDN'T JUST GIVE ME A HUGE MECHANICAL BILL, IT ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE AND MY SONS. I'M SO DEFEATED AT THIS POINT. THIS CAR IS NOT RELIABLE FOR SOMEONE WITH CHILDREN OR ANYONE WHO IS LIVING IN THE PNW WHERE IT RAINS CONSTANTLY. SUPER THANKFUL TO BE ALIVE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT TIME DURING LIGHT RAIN. WITHOUT WARNING, BOTH WIPERS STOPPED IN THE UP POSITION. I TRIED TURNING THE WIPERS OFF AND BACK ON AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I TURNED THE WIPERS OFF AND GOT OFF THE NEXT EXIT AND PULLED INTO A SERVICE STATION TO GET UNDER SOME LIGHT. I TRIED TO MOVE THE WIPERS AND THEY WENT INTO THEIR RESTING POSITION. I THEN TURNED ON THE WIPERS AND COULD HEAR THE MOTOR RUNNING BUT THE WIPERS WERE NOT MOVING. FORTUNATELY, THE RAIN STOPPED AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE MY TRIP HOME. JUST A FEW DAYS EARLIER, I DROVE THROUGH A VERY HEAVY RAIN STORM AND THANK THE LORD THAT THE WIPERS DIDN'T QUIT AT THAT TIME. I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE WHERE I WAS GOING.
AT THE START OF VEHICLE IS FINE BUT ONCE PUT IN GEAR REVERSE AND GO TO PUT BACK UP IT CUTS OFF IT DOES THIS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT'S OK THEN WHILE DRIVING IT IS OK ONCE STOP AT RED LIGHT OR JUST STOP IN TRAFFIC IT CUTS OFF ONCE IT'S CUTS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND HARD TO PUT BACK IN PARK ONCE IT STOPS THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BUT ONCE CAR IS BACK ON ENGINE LIGHT SOMETIMES GOES BACK OUT I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT SHOPS AND THE TOLD ME TO CONTACT MANUFACTURE BECAUSE ALL CODES ARE GOOD
BOTH WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN A HEAVY RAIN ON FREEWAY. I HAVE READ COMPLAINTS OF OTHER OWNER ON CHEVY EQUINOX TOO
MY 2012 EQUINOX JUST DIES FOR NO APPARENT REASON. AT STOP LIGHTS I HAVE TO SOMETIMES JUST PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO AVOID IT DYING. SOMETIMES IT STILL DOES. THEN IT TAKES FOREVER FOR IT TO GET BACK TO NORMAL ONLY TO EVENTUALLY DO IT AGAIN.
THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER SENSOR CAME ON AND SHUT DOWN. IT WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE DUE TO LACK OF OIL DUE TO BENT PISTON RINGS AND THE OIL ESCAPING. ALL OF THAT WAS REPAIRED AND MAYBE 6 MONTHS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND IT WAS DECIDED THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE TO THE ENGINE BASED ON THE PREVIOUS OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. THE ENGINE WAS THEN REPLACED AS WELL AS THE ECM BOARD DUE TO OIL BEING ALL OVER IT COMPLETELY RUINING THE SENSORS. WE ALSO HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE EVAP SYSTEM DUE LACK OF OXYGEN AND THE CAR CONSTANTLY CHOCKING OUT WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE IDELING. WE FILED OUR CLAIM WHEN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT CAME OUT AND OF COURSE WE'RE DENIED, JUST LIKE THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE DUE TO THERE BEING 'LACK OF PROOF' THAT IT WAS DUE TO LACK OF OIL. I WAS CONSTANTLY CHECKING MY OIL, GETTING IT CHANGED, ADDING THE RIGHT OIL WHEN IT WAS LOW AND BECAUSE I DID NOT DO THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST THROUGH GM WE ARE OUT ALMOST 10 THOUSAND DOLLARS ON A CAR THAT STILL HAD ISSUES DUE TO THE LACK OF OIL. THE FIRST TIME IT BROKE DOWN I HAD A POWER TRAIN WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE AND THEY DID AN INVESTIGATION TO MAKE SURE IT WAS DUE TO A LACK OF OIL CHANGES AND BUILD UP OF DIRTY OIL, IT WAS PROVED THAT THE OIL ESCAPED THROUGH THE BENT PISTON RINGS AND BURNT OFF INSTEAD OF GOING BACK INTO THE ENGINE. THEY DID COVER THE TIMING CHAIN BUT ONCE THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WE NO LONGER HAD THE WARRANTY. I'M NOT SURE WHY THAT INVESTIGATION WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE SETTLEMENT TO GO THROUGH BUT REGARDLESS THESE VEHICLES ARE SO UNSAFE AND MONEY PITS AND ARE STILL BEING SOLD TO INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE GETTING THEMSELVES INTO. A RECALL ABSOLUTELY SHOULD BE MADE.
AS I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR WORK DURING A THUNDERSTORM, MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THEY WORKED MAYBE FOR 2 SECONDS AND STOPPED RIGHT IN MY LINE OF SIGHT. MY CAR WAS STOPPED AT THIS TIME.
IT STARTED TO RAIN HEAVILY I TURNED ON MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS THEY CAME ON WENT TO THE LEFT SIDE AND STOPPED WORKING LEAVING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS TERRIFYING. DURING RESEARCH IT SEEMS THE SAME COMPLAINT OVER AND OVER WIPERS STOP WORKING LEAVING YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN A DOWNPOUR
TODAY 08/9/2019 MY WIFE SHOWED ME WHERE SHE SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE GLOVE BOX IT DID MELT THE PLASTIC COVER,NO ONE WILL HELP ME WITH LIFT GATE GOES UP 1/4 WAY DOWN,UP THE ALL THE WAY DOWN HAVE GOTTEN IT 3 TIMES IN THE HEAD I HAVE TOLD CATALANO MOTORS ABOUT IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEVER GOT FIXED.REAR WINDOW ON PASS SIDE NEVER WORKED AND LIGHT DON'T GO ON WHEN YOU OPEN REAR DOOR,MANUAL TRANSMISSION NEVER WORKED,NO OFFENCE BUT I WOULD RATHER HAVE MY 75 DELTA 88 I'M JUST NOT PLEASED WITH THE VEHICLES.MISS HAVING MY 97 F150 THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME,ALSO THE LIFT GATE WOULD GO UP AND DOWN BY ITSELF WITH KEYS IN MY HAND I REALLY WISH I COULD AFFORD TO GET NEW OR DIFF KIND OF VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A TWO LANE ROAD THAT HAS A LOT OF HILLS AND TURNS, DURING A HEAVY DOWNPOUR AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING CAUSING MY VISION TO BE IMPAIRED WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE WHERE I WAS GOING. I PULLED OVER AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR TO SEE IF IT WOULD START WORKING AND THAT DID NOT WORK. I THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND TRIED TO SEE IF THE WIPERS MAY HAVE GOTTEN STUCK ON SOMETHING BUT THEY WERE NOT.
I HAD MY WIPERS ON DURING A DOWNPOUR RAIN. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AT 7:30 AM, MONDAY, JULY, 22, 2019, ON A HIGHWAY AT A SLIGHTLY REDUCED SPEED (50MPH IN A 65MPH ZONE) MY WIPERS QUIT WORKING IN THE EXTENDED POSITION DIRECTLY IN MY LINE OF SITE. THIS WAS A DISTRACTION AND HAZARD AS I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
HAD FRONT WIPERS ON "INTERMITTENT" IN A LIGHT RAIN, WHICH QUICKLY BECAME A HEAVY SUMMER RAINSTORM. UPON SWITCHING THE WIPERS TO HIGH SPEED, THE WIPERS MADE ONE UPWARD PASS AND COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE VERTICAL POSITION. THE RAIN WAS SO HEAVY IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE RESIDENTIAL STREET. I HAD TO STOP IN THE TRAFFIC LANE WITH VEHICLES BEHIND ME DUE TO THE LACK OF VISIBILITY, WHICH WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY DANGEROUS. PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE THE WIPERS WORKED FINE WITHOUT ANY UNUSUAL NOISES, ETC. I BROUGHT MY EQUINOX TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHO FOUND THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY COMPLETED THE REPAIR.
2012 CHEVY EQUINOX, WITHOUT ANY PRIOR SIGNS OR ISSUES, DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IN THE RAIN. THE WIPER REMAINED IN THE UP POSITION. DEALER CHARGED $320 PARTS AND LABOR FOR "WIPER MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION FOUND TO BE BROKEN REPLACED ALL".
THE EQUINOX BURNS EXCESSIVE OIL AND MAKE LOUD NOISE IF THE OIL GET LOW. NO LOW OIL LIGHT INDICATOR DOES NOT WORK. AFTER MONITORING THE ENGINE CONSUMPTIONS FOR 2 MONTHS, I HAVE TO PUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 300/400 MILES WHICH IS EVERY TWO WEEKS.
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE TO WINDOW. CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. DEFROSTER WAS DEACTIVATED. WEATHER: SUNNY AND 90-95 DEG F.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DURING A HEAVY RAINSTORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD THE WIPERS IN THE HIGHEST SPEED SETTING. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES NEXT TO US WHEN THIS HAPPENED - WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THE STORM TO LIGHTEN AS VISIBILITY VERY QUICKLY WENT TO ZERO WITHOUT BOTH FRONT WIPERS WORKING. THE WIPER MOTOR WAS STILL WORKING BUT THE LINKAGE OR TRANSMISSION HAD DISCONNECTED AT ONE OF THE BALL JOINTS.

GM NOTIFIED US OF A KNOWN OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. OUR VEHICLE WAS CONSTANTLY LOSING OIL. WE COMPLETED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS OVER A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS BEFORE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WOULD REPLACE THE PISTON AND RINGS, WHICH WERE REPLACED IN JUNE 2018. JULY 1ST 2019, AFTER 10,000 MILES, THE ENGINE EXPLODED AND CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN THE STREET. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS SERIOUS HARMED. THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A 6 LANE STREET IN MODERATE TRAFFIC. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE PUSHED OUT OF TRAFFIC AND WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION WHILE I AM DRIVING
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME IN A DOWNPOUR WITH THE WIPERS ON HIGH, THEY STOPPED WORKING IN MID-CYCLE. SHE CAUTIOUSLY MADE IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE WHERE THEY EXPLAINED IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE LINKAGE ON THE WIPER TRANSMISSION.
WHILE DRIVING, IT BEGAN RAINING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO STOP ABRUPTLY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. IT IS HAZARDOUS AND DANGEROUS TO OPERATE A VEHICLE MID STORM WITHOUT PROPER VISIBILITY. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THIS BE CORRECTED EXPEDITIOUSLY.

OIL CONSUMPTION IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY 750 MILES, CAR MAKES TICKING NOISE WHEN FIRST STARTED AND LUNGES WHEN VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP. SLUGGISH WHEN DRIVING ON INTERSTATE.
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM. SEARCHING ONLINE SEEMS IT'S FAIRLY COMMON. DANGEROUS SITUATION.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY. WE WERE ON A THREE LANE HIGHWAY IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC DURING A RAINSTORM WHEN MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS SEIZED STICKING IN THEIR VERTICAL POSITION. I HAD TO CROSS OVER TWO LANES OF HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WITH ZERO VISIBILITY TO GET TO SAFETY ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE WIPER MOTOR CONTINUED TO RUN BUT THE WIPERS DIDN'T MOVE. THE DEALERSHIPS ASSESSMENT RESULTS WERE THAT THE MOTOR OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT BAD BUT THEY COULD NOT OFFER ME ANY EXPLANATION AS TO WHY OR IF IT WAS NORMAL. VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS GO OFF, THE RADIO GOES OFF AND READS 'LOST COMMUNICATION WITH TELEMATICS CONTROL MODULE'. DURING THIS TIME, THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING IN MOTION, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME BACK ON, BUT THE GAUGES ARE AT 0. THE RADIO TURNS OFF COMPLETELY, THE HEATING/AIR SHUTS OFF, THE SIGNAL LIGHTS DON'T WORK, AND MY HEADLIGHTS START TO FLICKER GOING ON AND OFF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. AFTER MINUTES, EVERYTHING COMES BACK ON, BUT LIKELY GOES OUT AGAIN. I'VE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE THIS IN EVERY TRIP TO AND FROM. ALSO, I RECENTLY HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THIS COULD EVENTUALLY CLOG MY MOTOR IF NOT HANDLED PROPERLY, AND FIRST HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT METAL PIECES ARE RUBBING. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, MY TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DOES NOT PROPERLY READ THE ACTUAL TIRE PRESSURE. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START.
