I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY IN THE POURING RAIN. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND PUT ME IN A VERY BAD SITUATION. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A PARKING LOT. I BEGAN CHECKING THE FUSES TO SEE IF IT WAS THAT. AFTER CONFIRMING THEY WERE FINE, I BEGAN LOOKING UP THE ISSUE ONLINE. I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2013 MODEL FOR THE WIPER TRANSMISSION. I ALSO FOUND THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2014 MODEL. SURE ENOUGH, WHEN I GOT THE CAR TO THE SHOP, THEY CONFIRMED THE ISSUE. $240 DOLLARS TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD. I FEEL THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT.
I PURCHASED A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX IN SEPTEMBER 2015. IT HAD 10 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT RIGHT OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 1700 MILES ON IT BECAUSE IT'S PARKED IN THE GARAGE 90% OF THE TIME. IN NOVEMBER 2017 I OPENED THE VENT PART OF THE SUN ROOF AND HEARD A LOUD CRACK SOUND. WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE IT, IT WOULDN'T CLOSE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT BROKE BECAUSE THERE WAS DIRT IN IT. IT COST ME $1,000 TO REPLACE THE WHOLE MECHANISM INCLUDING THE WINDOW BECAUSE THEY DON'T MAKE PARTS FOR IT. MY QUESTION TO THE DEALER AND CHEVY WAS 'HOW DOES DIRT GET INTO A SUNROOF THAT IS CLOSED ALL THE TIME? THE RESPONSE HAS BEEN I DON'T KNOW. NO ONE CAN EVEN TELL ME HOW TO MAINTAIN IT SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS EITHER A DEFECT WITH THE SUN ROOF OR IMPROPER INSTALLATION AT THE FACTORY. THE NEW SUN ROOF IS MADE TO BE MORE HEAVY DUTY BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT IN TWO YEARS I'LL HAVE TO REPLACE THIS ALSO. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON ASKED IF I DRIVE IT IN AREAS THAT THERE IS A LOT OF DUST. THE ANSWER WAS NO, BUT SHOULDN'T IT BE MADE TO KEEP DUST OUT? AFTER ALL, IT IS ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER FLUSHING FLUIDS BY DEALER, CAR NOW STALLS AT WHEN IDELING
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T COME ON AND SOMETIMES IT DOES. IT'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR CLOSE TO 2 YEARS. PASSENGER SEAT BELT HAS BEEN STICKING OFTEN. SOMETIMES I CAN BARLEY GET IT TO UNCLICK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS.
I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY TORQUE CONVERTOR
TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SHOWS LOW PRESSURE IN TIRES , BUT WHEN CHECKED WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT HAND GAGES AND ADD AIR TO DESIRED PRESSURE LISTED ON DOOR RECOMMENDATION STICKER SENSOR STILL SHOWS THE TIRE PRESSURE IS LISTING LOW BY SEVERAL LBS. IN MOTION ON ROAD - HIGHWAY - CITY ST. / STANDING STILL / RUNNING OR JUST WITH KEY ON MOTOR OFF. (ALWAYS SHOWING LOW AIR PRESSURE IN TIRES -
ON10/09/2017 AS I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 3 HEADING TO CAPE GIRARDEAU MISSOURI ON A VERY RAINING DAY WELL MY WIPERS IN THE FRONT BROKE AND I WAS UNABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE SO I HAD TO HURRY UP AND AND PULL OFF THE ROAD. SO I HAD TO REPLACE WIPERS BUSHING. THAT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE RECALL ON THEM STOPPED ON THE 2013'S
MY VEHILCLE JUST SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND IT DOES IT ON A CONSTANT BASIS LIKE WHEN IM BACKING UP OR LOW ACCELERATION. I GOT A DIAGNOSTICS DONE AND I GOT ERROR CODE P0011 AND P0010 WHICH IS INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITIONING TIMING IS OVER ADVANCED. IVE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR SINCE MARCH 2017 AND IT IS OCT. 2017 AND IVE HAD THE ISSUE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS ISSIE OCCURED BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE.
BALL JOINTS ON THE WIPER MECHANISM CORRODED AND BROKE, MAKING THE WIPERS INOPERABLE DURING A MONSOON ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING AT 70 MILES AN HOUR WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT. BUT THE GM CORPORATION WILL NOT RECALL IT BUT THEY RECALLED 3680000 EQUINOXES WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM FROM THE YEAR BEFORE. BUT NOT MINE THANKS GM FOR NOTHING!! I WONDER IF FORD OR DODGE WILL BACK UP THIER PRODUCT ???
THE ENGINE DIED WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED AFTER DRIVING A FEW MINUTES. WITHIN A WEEK, IT STARTED HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN, THE ENGINE WOULD JUST DIE WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR JUST STARTING AFTER BEING STOPPED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER A FEW DAYS. ALSO, A COUPLE TIMES LAST WINTER ON COLD DAYS THE ENGINE RAN REALLY ROUGH FOR THE FIRST FEW SECONDS AFTER STARTING. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE. I GOOGLED AND FOUND THE 2011 EQUINOX WAS RECALLED (11195A) FOR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES AND HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING ON 3 YEAR OLD CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF A TERRIBLE DOWN POUR DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHILE IN MOTION. ABILITY TO SEE WAS IMMEDIATELY IMPOSSIBLE AND AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE MOVE TO THE SHOULDER OF 3 WAY TRAFFIC TOOK PLACE. A NEW WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION KIT WAS REQUIRED. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATES THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 EQUINOX.
WIPERS FAILED AS IN THE 2013 EQUINOX'S RECALL. I WAS TRAVELING IN TRAFFIC ON US 85 SOUTH IN HEAVY RAINFALL. ONLY BY SLOWING DOWN AND CAREFULLY MOVING TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE WHERE I COULD SEE THE WHITE LINE, WAS I ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL AND NOT BE IN AN ACCIDENT. HAD I NOT BEEN AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A MULTI CAR INCIDENT.
WHEN GOING IN REVERSE, OR COMING OFF A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY STALL OUT. WHILE IT STARTS UP RIGHT AWAY, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. MY VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS ABOUT 4-6 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. CHEVY SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, AND THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WORK, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE JUST TURNS OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WITHOUT WARNING, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE OEM PART WAS THE SAME AS THE OEM PART CONCERNING A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER (OURISMAN CHEVROLET OF MARLOW HEIGHTS, 4400 BRANCH AVE, MARLOW HEIGHTS, MD 20748, (240) 455-3386) OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
THIS ISSUE, THE EQUINOX WOBBLE HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES FOR US. THIS TIME WE WERE ENTERING THE INTERSTATE GOING ABOUT 50 MPH AND THE WOBBLE AGAIN BEGAN AND AS I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN, PULL OVER AND STOP. I NOTICED IN THE BACK VIEW CAMERA THAT SOMETHING WAS VERY WRONG. THE EQUINOX WAS OFF TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN THE LEFT (DRIVERS) FRONT SIDE OF OF THE EQUINOX HIT THE RIGHT (PASSENGER) SIDE OF THE MH CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES ON EITHER SIDE OF ME OR THE EQUINOX WOULD HAVE COLLIDED WITH THEM. AFTER PULLING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND MAKING A COMPLETE STOP, I LOOKED TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS WOBBLE HAD BROKEN THE 7000 LB HITCH RECEIVER COMPLETELY FROM ITS MOUNTING ON THE MH AND DAMAGED BOTH THE TOW BAR AND THE SAFETY CABLES. THE SAFETY CABLES HAD KEPT THIS INCIDENT FROM BEING MUCH MORE SERIOUS THAN IT WAS AND POSSIBLY CAUSING CONSIDERABLY MORE DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. TWO MONTHS AFTER THE CONTACT HAD THE OIL CHECKED, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED ON-STAR WHO INFORMED HER THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC ON THE VEHICLE WAS WELL AND THE OIL LIFE WAS THIRTY ONE PERCENT. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ON A LONG TRIP. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (BARRY'S AUTOMOTIVE INC LOCATED ON M 62 W, DOWAGIAC, MI, 49047) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
VEHICLE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO 130 MPH ON SPEEDOMETER WITH ENGINE REVING TO THAT SPEED SOUND . VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY . I PULLED OFF ROAD ON EACH OCCASION TURNED OF ENGINE AND RESTARTED AS I WAS HUNDREDS OF MILES FROM HOME. HAD CAR TOWED TO CHEVY DEALERSHIP AT DESTINATION. AS THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE ISSUE THEY WILL NOT REPAIR EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY VEHICLE NOW REMAINS IN 5 HRS AWAY. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOT KNOWING WHAT IS WRONG. THIS PUTS MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK ON THE HIGHWAY.
THE WIPERS FAILED, STOPPED WIPING IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEAVY RAIN STORM WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THANKFULLY ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE, VERY SCARY! CALLED DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY WARRANTY EXPIRED IN JANUARY OF 2017. IN RESEARCHING THE REPAIR I DISCOVERED THAT EQUINOX 2013 AND I THINK OTHER YEARS HAD A RECALL FOR THE EXACT FAILURE ON MY VEHICLE. THE REPAIR MECHANIC CALL GM VERIFIED THE RECALL ON 2013'S, THE FAILURE ON MY VEHICLE 2014 AND GM UNWILLINGNESS TO PAY FOR THIS VEHICLE REPAIR. THE UNBELIEVABLE IRONY OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT WHEN THE REPAIR PART ARRIVED IT CLEARLY STATED "RECALL" ON THE LABEL. IT WAS LIKE GIVING ME THE MIDDLE FINGER ALONG WITH THE BILL. GM SHOULD ADD 2014 AND ANY OTHER VEHICLES USING THIS COMPONENT TO THEIR WIPER RECALL DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
BAD OIL CONSUMPTION AND OIL WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY KIDS THE SUV STARTED TO IDLE VERY ROUGH AND WOULD JUST SHUT OFF ONCE I GOT INTO SLOWER TRAFFIC. AFTER THE 4TH TIME IN LESS THEN 2 MILES OF TRAFFIC THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CODE THAT WAS DISPLAYED WAS FOR THE VVT SOLENOID AND SO I HAD IT REPLACED ALONG WITH AN OIL CHANGE. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT OIL CAN EFFECT THE VVT SOLENOID SO I SHOULD CHANGE THE OIL FREQUENTLY FOR THE NEXT YEAR. EACH TIME I DID AN OIL CHANGE I STARTED NOTICING THAT LESS OIL WAS DRAINING OUT THEN WHAT WAS PUT IN. AFTER THE YEAR I WENT BACK TO FULL SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGES AT 6000 MILES APART BUT THEN HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE DRIVING ROUGH AND MAKING WEIRD NOISES 8 MONTHS LATER. ALONG WITH MISSING OIL ON THE CHANGE BETWEEN. NOT LONG AFTER THIS MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IN BOSTON TRAFFIC WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS NEARLY HIT BEFORE SHE COULD GET TO A SAFE PLACE WHERE I WAS ABLE TO TOW IT BACK HOME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND GAVE THE SAME CODE FOR THE VVT. I REPLACED THIS FOR A SECOND TIME AND WHILE REPLACING I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW (LESS THEN A QUART CAME OUT). I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC FOR FURTHER TESTING AND HE SAID THAT AT NO POINT DURING HIS TEST PERIOD DID THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT EVER ILLUMINATE. I HAVE BEEN ADDING ALMOST 2 QUARTS EVERY 5-8 HUNDRED MILES JUST TO KEEP UP WITH IT. I FOUND SEVERAL OTHER EQUINOX OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE SO I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVY CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE A FEW COMPLAINTS THAT THEY SEE FROM EQUINOX OWNERS WITH THE 2.4L ENGINES BURNING OIL HOWEVER, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I MENTIONED THE SERVICE BULLETINS THAT I FOUND ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND HE JUST SAID THAT THEY DON'T MEAN ANYTHING AND THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE IT WAS POURING. WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE WIPER STOPPED IT WAS COMPLETELY OFF THE WINDSHIELD AND THE PASSENGER WIPER WAS IN FRONT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS CAUSED VERY POOR VISIBILITY AND WAS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAD TO GO ACROSS MULTIPLE LANES TO PULL OVER.
INTERMITTENT VIBRATION FELT WHEN ENGINE IDLING. THEN ENGINE WOULD STALL WHEN COMING TO A STOP. HAPPENED MAYBE 6-8 TIMES. GOT AN OIL CHANGE (WASN'T OVERDUE), AND PROBLEM STOPPED.
ENGINE STALLED OUT WHILE IDLING IN GEAR, ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR WHEN DEACCELERATING TO A COMPLETE STOP. NEEDED ONE FOOT ON BRAKE ONE FOOT ON GAS TO KEEP RUNNING. LOST ALL POWER ASSIST CONTROLS IN TRAFFIC WHEN VEHICLE STALLED.
THE FUEL SYSTEM DOESN'T ACCURATELY REFLECT THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THIS VEHICLE. IT SAYS IS HAS A FULL TANK WHEN IT IS ALMOST EMPTY. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE OWNERS DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING LOW ON GAS. RUNNING OUT GAS ON HIGHWAYS OR IN THE MOUNTAINS CAN BE A DEADLY RESULT.
WIND SHEILD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM ON FREEWAY ON APRIL 7 2017.. WHILE DRIVING 65MPH. TOOK TO DEALER AND IT THE EXACT SAME PART AS A 2013 MODEL RECALL ON THE SAME CAR. TRASMISSION OF WIPERS STOPPED WORKING .CONNECT THE DOTS SAME PROBLEM IN 2013 AND WERE RECALLED. RECALL THE 2014 NOW I WAS ALMOST IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS WIPER FAILURE. I HAD TO PAY $350.00 TO GET FIXED GM TOOK NO RESPONIBLITY.

THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION LINKAGE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V582000 (VISIBILITY). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING UP HILL AT 55 MPH, THERE WAS A LOAD HUMMING SOUND AND THERE WAS ALSO A HESITATION IN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WEST-HERR CHEVROLET OF ORCHARD PARK (3575 SOUTHWESTERN BLVD, ORCHARD PARK, NY 14127, (716) 662-9775) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE DEALER ESCALATED THE CASE TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO HAD THE CASE SENT TO A SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE. THE CONTACT ALSO SENT A VIDEO OF THE FAILURE TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THAT THE TECHNICIAN AND SERVICE MANAGER PERFORM A ROAD TEST TO TRY TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE DEALER REFUSED TO COOPERATE AND THE MANUFACTURER CLOSED OUT THE CASE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

TAKATA, SERVICE LIGHT HAS COME ON THT PASSENGERS AIRBAG NEEDS SERVICE.
MY 2014 EQUINOX USES 1.5 TO 2.0 OTS. OF OIL EVERY 1500 - 2000 MILES. THE ENGINE OIL SENSOR DOES NOT INDICATE ANY PROBLEMS OR LOW OIL CAPICATY. MY 2014 EQUINOX MAKES A LOUD ROARING NOISE FROM THE REAR END ON BOTH SIDES AND NOW WILL START TO SHAKE SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING, WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES IT MAKES A BUMPING SOUND
My vehicle has all symptoms of the timing chain slipping or being loose. Just as millions of others who owns a chevy equinox with a 2.4 motor. Drives like crap, stalls out unexpectedly, which is very dangerous, exhaust fumes enter cabin of vehicle, toxicity to lungs. Extreme fuel intake consumption, erotic idle issues, extreme oil consumption all these issues have progressively gotten worse. This is very much a safety hazard in more than ONE way! GM needs to be held responsible and FIX THEIR problem selling such faulty and pitiful parts to their customers. After this I will NEVER own a chevy again. HIGHLY disappointed! Fixing a timing chain issue is NOT cheap, nor should it be the responsibility of any chevy equinox owner seeing as how there are so many other people who share the SAME issue, like duh. obviously, this is a manufacturer defect. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET??????? This issue is a safety risk hazard to the customers of this vehicle. Obviously, the timing chains in these 2.4 motors of all years of equinox's are defective and GMC are the ones who need to be held responsible and fix THEIR mistakes, this is ridiculous, how has a recall not happened, there are millions of people with the SAME COMPLAINT???

PURCHASED OUR 2014 CHEVY EQUINOX IN OCTOBER 2013. IN NOVEMBER 2016 WHILE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DURING A RAIN STORM THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. SHE HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SINCE SHE HAD NO VISIBILITY AT THE TIME. SHE SAT IN THE CAR IN A DANGEROUS SPOT UNTIL I COULD GET THERE AND DRIVE HER HOME. WE LEFT THE CAR UNTIL IT STOPPED RAINING AND THEN WENT BACK TO GET THE CAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CHEVY EQUINOX 2013 MODEL. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAID THE WIPER TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. THEY REPLACED THE PART FOR ME AT A COST OF $473 DOLLARS.
I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF TO GET GAS AND WHEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE BACK UP, THE HEATING, AIR CONDITIONING, DEFROST, RADIO CONTROLS AND THE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS HAD ALL BECOME INOPERATIVE. EVERYTHING STAYED INOPERATIVE FOR 2 DAYS. ON THE THIRD DAY, I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE AND STARTED MY VEHICLE UP BUT THEN REALIZED I FORGOT SOMETHING AND TURNED MY CAR OFF. I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE TO RESTART IT BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS AND RADIO CONTROLS SUDDENLY RETURNED WORKING BUT EVERYTHING ELSE THAT HAD BEEN INOPERATIVE (THE DEFROST, A/C AND HEATING), STAYED INOPERATIVE AND MY VEHICLE NOW SHOWED THE MESSAGE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" UNDER THE GAS GAUGE. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE A DAY LATER BUT NOTHING HAD CHANGED AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN ANYTHING HAD BECOME INOPERATIVE ON THE VEHICLE.
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS AS HAVE A FEW MORE WITH OUR 2014 CHEV EQUINOX LT 4 CYCLINDER MOTOR WHEN WE DRIVE ON UNEVEN, FROST HEAVES, POT HOLES ROADS, ANY ROADS. THE VEHICLE WHEN FLAT TOWED BEHIND A MOTORHOME WILL START THE "DEATH WOBBLE" I VIOLENTLY SHAKES THE MOTORHOME UNTIL WE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN WE CAN START OUT AGAIN. IT WILL DO THIS AT ANY SPEED. WE ARE FOLLOWING THE OWNERS MANUAL AND PROPER HITCH ADJUSTMENTS, THE 4 CYCLINDER EQUINOX HAS ELECTRONIC STEERING AS OPPOSED TO THE 6 CYCLINDER EQUINOX, THAT DOES NOT EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM, HAS HYDRAULIC STEERING. JEEP HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CHEROKEE BUT THE DEVELOPED A WIRING FIX THAT POWERS THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WIEN UNDER TOW, GM HAS YET TO ADMIT TO THE PROBLEM. THE VIDEO I AM SENDING IS OF A JEEP CHEROKEE, BUT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT OUR 4 CYCLINDER 2014 EQUINOX DOES, AS DO MANY MORE OWNERS SAY THEIR 4 CYCLINDER EQUINOX'S DOES. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced rough idling with exhaust fumes inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the exhaust manifold was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. WHILE TOWING FOUR DOWN BEHIND MY MOTORHOME, I ENCOUNTERED ROAD CONSTRUCTION. TURNING SLOWLY ON A VERY BUMPY SITE, THE FRONT WHEELS OF THE CAR REFUSED TO FOLLOW THE TRACK OF THE MOHO AND BEGAN A VIOLENT SHAKING MOTION. I HAD TO STOP IN A TRAFFIC LANE ON THE INTERSTATE THEN PROCEED FORWARD AGAIN SLOWLY IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE WOBBLE. IT APPEARS THE ISSUE IS INSUFFICIENT CASTER ON THE FRONT END WHILE BEING TOWED. IT ALSO APPEARS TO ONLY OCCUR WITH THE 4CYL MODEL WITH ELECTRIC STEERING. THE 6CYL MODEL HAS HYDRAULIC STEERING. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THE WOBBLE IN A SAFE LOCATION. IF IT OCCURS ON THE HIGHWAY IT'S VERY DANGEROUS AS THE VEHICLE COULD SEPARATE FROM THE TOWING VEHICLE. TWO POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS ARE NOT REMOVING THE FUSE RECOMMENDED IN MY MANUAL WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE ELECTRIC STEERING TO BE ENERGIZED. I'M NOT SURE OF ANY OTHER ISSUES THAT MIGHT RESULT FROM THIS PRACTICE. THE OTHER SOLUTION WOULD BE TO BUNGEE CORD THE STEERING WHEEL TO INCREASE PRESSURE ON THE FRONT END. AGAIN, NOT SURE OF CONSEQUENCES. I'M LOOKING FOR A PERMANENT SOLUTION SUCH AS A WIRING HARNESS/JUMPER WHICH WOULD STILL ALLOW THE FUSE TO BE PULLED YET KEEP THE STEERING ENERGIZED. CHRYSLER HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THE JEEP CHEROKEE. I AM HOPING THE EQUINOX IS SIMILAR IN CONSTRUCTION AND THIS IS A SOLUTION. I'VE BEEN TOWING FOR OVER 40 YEARS WITH 85,000 MILES ON THIS COACH. HAVE A 2014 EQUINOX LT. IS JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD, WITH JUST OVER 65K MILES ON IT. JUST RECENTLY HAD THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOP WORKING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. CALLED GM DEALER REGARDING THE 2010-2013 MODEL YEAR WIPER BALL JOINTS IN WIPERS RECALL. SERVICE SPECIALIST TELLS ME MY 2014 IS NOT AFFECTED AND IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND "WOULD ONLY BE COVERED IF GM SEE FIT TO ISSUE ONE INCLUDING 2014 MODEL YEAR INCLUDING YOUR VIN". WELL GUESS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME COMMON BROKEN BALL JOINT IN THE WIPER TRANSMISSION THAT THESE VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR. HOWEVER IN MY CASE BECAUSE MY MODEL YEAR IS NOT INCLUDED I HAVE TO FOOT A $180 REPAIR BILL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED.

GOT LETTER FROM GM MY ONBOARD NAVIGATION NEEDED UPDATE FOR $135 AND THE CAR IS BARELY 2 YRS OLD AT 45K MILES. CALLED CEO OF GM COMPLAINED & THEY HAD THE ATTITUDE WELL WE CAN'T UPGRADE IT FOR FREE. THEY HAD TO HAVE KNOWN BEFORE THE 2014 MODEL WAS SOLD THAT THERE WAS GOING TO BE AN UPDATE IN 2016 BUT NO ONE TOLD ME AS THE BUYER/CUSTOMER AT TIME OF PURCHASE. WHILE DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL, AND STABILATRAK ALL CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT IT OFF. A FEW MINUTES LATER RESTARTED WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYING ON. BEFORE I MADE IT TO WORK 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR SHUT OFF. NO POWER AT ALL!!! THIS WAS ON A CITY STREET GOING ABOUT 40 MPH. MY CAR WENT DOWN TO 15MPH WITHIN SECONDS. VERY DANGEROUS! THIS WAS THE 5TH TIME! THE DEALER REPLACED BODY CONTROL PANEL AND THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES! THE DEALER STILL HAS IT AND HAS NO REAL ANSWERS!

WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED AND SENT THE VEHICLE INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE STARTED TO QUICKLY LOSE SPEED DOWN AS IT HAPPENED JUST PRIOR TO GOING UP A HILL. HAD TO TRY AND GET VEHICLE OFF TO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY, ACCELERATION PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE DURING THIS TIME. CALL WAS PLACED TO GM REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND MY CONCERNS THAT IT COULD HAVE LEAD TO A CRASH, INJURY OR WORSE. GM HAD NO INTEREST IN COVERING THIS PROBLEM UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED AT ALL WITH THE ISSUE OR MY CONCERNS THAT THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE LEAD TO A CRASH, INJURY OR WORSE. IN THE END I WAS LEFT WITH A $475 REPAIR CHARGE TO REPLACE AN $80 PART BY THE GM DEALERSHIP.

BATTERY LEAKAGE CAUSING EXCESSIVE CORROSION TO BATTERY CABLES. DAUGHTER DID NOT REALIZE VOLTAGE LOSS UNTIL VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK. POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH CABLES VIBRATING WHILE DRIVING AND THUS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO LEAK ACID WHERE CABLES ATTACHED.
