WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING IN A RAIN STORM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A SUNDAY NIGHT WITH A THREE (3) HOUR DRIVE AHEAD OF ME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED, I HAVE SEEN THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE PASS WITH THE EQUINOX AND IT STILL THE SAME PROBLEM WITH WINDSHIELD WIPERS TODAY. I'M A EXPERIENCED DRIVER AND AT 72 YEARS OF AGE MY THOUGH WAS OF A INEXPERIENCED DRIVER AND WHAT THEIR REACTION WOULD BE IN THE SAME SCENARIO. I EXPLAINED THIS TO A GM REP. AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER, THAT I WILL DO AT MY EXPENSE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED, IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN 1956 IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AND NOT A ISSUE NEXT YEAR
WITHIN THE PAST YEAR I HAVE LOST ALL SOUND IN MY 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN JUNE 2017, THE SECOND TIME WAS OCTOBER 2018. THE FIRST TWO TIMES I WAS ABLE TO GET AN UPDATE THROUGH OUR LOCAL DEALER. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THAT IF HAPPENED AGAIN, I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE RADIO (AND RELATED COMPONENTS). THIS NOT ONLY AFFECTS THE RADIO, BUT ALL SOUND, BLINKERS, LANE DEPARTURE AND CRASH ALERT. PROOF OF SERVICE CAN BE PROVIDED IF REQUIRED.
ENGINE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE CODES CHECKED IT SHOWED CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, SO HAD THAT REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AFTER THAT WAS REPLACED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON AGAIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO BE TOLD THAT THE CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH COST ME ABOUT $350.00. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY EQUINOX'S AND THEY NEED TO BE RECALLED FOR IT BECAUSE IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING AND YOUR VEHICLE JUST STOPS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, IS ON I HAVE 50,000 MILES IT SHUT OFF WHEN U COME TO STOP OR IDLE.. PULLED CODE CAME BACK AS P0010,& P0011, CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR . THIS CAR HAS BEEN EXCELLENT CARED FOR. UNEXCEPTIONABLE.. CAR WAS IN MOTION, ON THE STREETS, HIGHWAY S. CARS BLOWING FOR ME TO PULL OFF. HAVE TO DRIVE WITH FLASHER TO KEEP CARS BACK TO KEEP FROM GETTING REAR ENDED.
I PUMPED GAS THIS AM, WAS SITTING AT A LIGHT CAR CUT OFF AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. NOW STILL ON WANT GO OFF.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM I HAD MY WIPERS RUNNING AT THE MEDIUM INTERVAL AND THEY COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, BETWEEN LARGE ORANGE BARRELS, AND WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO SUBSIDE. I ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE FUSES AND THIS WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. I JUST GOT THE DIAGNOSTIC BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT WILL COST $355.00. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 55,000 MILES ON IT. I'M HOPING THAT IT WILL BE COVERED BY WARRANTY, ESPECIALLY SINCE A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED AND I SEE OVER 20 OTHER REPORTS OF THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING. IT WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND TURNED A 4 HOUR DRIVE INTO A 7.5 HOUR DRIVE BECAUSE I HAD TO STOP REPEATEDLY WHEN THE RAIN PICKED UP.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 2 WEEKS AGO IN THE RAIN, MY DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE GOING BACK AND FORTH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER GOT STUCK AND STOPPED WORKING. I ENDED UP GETTING IT FIXED AND IT WAS $300 TO REPAIR. I ALSO SAW AN ARTICLE ABOUT HOW THIS WAS COMMON ON OLDER MODELS OF THE SAME CAR. UNFORTUNATELY SINCE I HAVE A 2015, I JUST MISSED THE RECALL NOTICE, EVEN THOUGH I APPARENTLY HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MINE.
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN ON THE EVENING OF THE 26TH OF OCTOBER 2018. FUSES HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND THOUGH GOOD REPLACED. THERE IS A HUM WHEN YOU TURN THE WIPERS ON. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE FRONT WIPERS, THE REAR WORKS FINE. DANGEROUS AS IT WAS ALMOST DARK AND I HAD TO DRIVE HOME SLOWLY AND OUT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. SEEMS THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX AS I FOUND OUT IN RESEARCH. WHEN IS SOMETHING GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS? BEFORE OR AFTER A FATALITY?
WITH OUT WARNING MY WIFES CAR WENT INTO ENGINE POWER FAILURE MODE. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO MORE THEN 10 MPH. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FOUR QUARTS LOW OF ITS MOTOR OIL. THEY THEN ASKED ME FOR ALL THE SERVICE RECORDS I HAD TO ESTABLISH A HISTORY. THEY HAD THE OIL CHANGES THAT I DID FROM THE DEALER, ONE FROM A WELL KNOW AUTO MERCHANDISER AND BECAUSE I DID THE MOST RECENT ONE MYSELF, THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT THAT ONE BECAUSE THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION OF ME DOING IT AND HENCE THE VEHICLES POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WILL NOT BE HONORED. THE CAR IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD AND HAS 75000 MILES ON IT. NO INDICATION OF ANY ISSUES WERE PRESENT AT ANYTIME WITH THIS VEHICLE.
FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN HARD RAIN ON A FREEWAY. WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CHEVY EQUINOX AND RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE IN CANADA FOR SAME ISSUE. HAVE TO REPLACE BUSHINGS.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE HOME I TURNED ON WIPER BLADES TO CLEAN LIGHT RAIN FROM FRONT WINDSHIELD AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER BLADE FAILED TO WORK. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A COUNTY/STATE ROAD IT WAS DARK OUT. ALSO UPON ARRIVING HOME WHILE STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE I AGAIN TRIED WIPERS, PASSENGER SIDE WIPER AGAIN, FAILED TO WORK.
THE IGNITION KEY WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE PARK POSITION (VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE POSITION). IN WHICH CAUSED A ROLLAWAY INCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND BELIVED TO BE IN PARK.
MY 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX HAS DEVELOPED A SPONGEY BRAKE PEDAL,THE CAR DOES STOP BUT THE PEDAL IS SPONGEY. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT GM HAS A BIGGER PROBLEM WITH VEHICLES THAT ARE COVERED UNDER EXISTING RECALL?
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle started making a loud tapping sound. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine rods needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
THE WIPER BLADES STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN A THUNDERSTORM. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE THROUGH MY FRONT WINDSHIELD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ON THE SIDE AND WAIT UNTIL MY VISIBILITY WAS CLEAR TO PROCEED ON MY ROUTE.
I WAS DRIVING FROM BALTIMORE TO LEESBURG VA FOR MY COLLEGE CLASSES. WHILE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE 495 NEAR WASHINGTON DC IS WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT CONTINUED TO STALL SEVERAL TIMES AND ANYTIME THE VEHICLE WAS GOING UNDER 20 MPH. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL I REACHED MY DESTINATION 1-1/2 HOURS LATER. ALTHOUGH NOT IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THIS CONTINUED ON MY 2 HOUR RETURN TRIP LATER THAT EVENING. IN THESE TWO INCIDENTS THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE NEXT DAY, EVERY TIME I STOPPED THE CAR IT WOULD SURGE AS IF I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE ENGINE RATTLING AND WHINING CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE ALSO SEEMS LIKE IT HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR AND WHEN IT DID, THE CAR SHIFTED VERY HARD AND ABRUPT NOT KNOWING WHAT THE ISSUE WAS I WENT TO A MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THE VARIABLE TIMING SOLENOIDS WERE FAILING. HE ALSO TOLD ME THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. COME TO FIND OUT THESE SOLENOIDS CALLED "VVT" NEED OIL PRESSURE TO OPERATE NOT ONE TIME DID MY OIL LIGHT COME ON TO INDICATE AN LOW OIL LEVEL. THE CAR ONLY SHOWS OIL LIFE PERCENTAGE, WHICH TELLS ME WHEN TO CHANGE THE OIL. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH THERE IS A KNOWN OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WITH THE 2.4L ECOTECH ENGINE AND GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE AND HAS HAD A CLASS ACTION CASE AGAINST THEM.I HAVE A 2015 EQUINOX AND HAVE HAD JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO GET GM TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS.THEY ARE TELLING ME IT IS MY PROBLEM, BECAUSE I DON'T MAINTAIN MY OIL CHANGE INTERVALS, WHICH IS NOT TRUE. I DO AS THE WARNING LIGHTS TELL ME. I DO FEEL THIS POSES A SERIOUS THREAT TO MY SAFETY AND OTHERS WHO HAVE THIS VEHICLE OR THE 2.4L ECOTECH ENGINE. I THINK THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE FOR DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS OR EVEN WHERE THERE ARE LOTS PEDESTRIANS.
WAS DRIVING UP RAMP TO GET ONTO HIGHWAY WHEN CAR ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH WITHOUT MY FOOT ON GAS PEDAL. I TURNED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF AND I PRESSED ON BREAK PEDAL BUT THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO SLOW DOWN. I PUSHED HARDER TO GET CAR DOWN TO 65 AND THEN RELEASED BREAK AND IT ACCELERATED TO 85 MPH. I THEN PUT BOTH FEET ON BREAK PEDAL AND PUSHED AS HARD AS I COULD AT THAT POINT I KEPT BOTH FEET ON BREAK PEDAL UNTIL I GOT CAR OFF THE ROAD AND STOPPED AT THAT TIME I PUT CAR IN PARK. THE ENGINE HAD SLOWED DOWN AND I TURNED THE KEY OFF. I THEN TURNED THE KEY TO ACCESSORY PUSHED CRUISE CONTROL ON AND THEN BACK OFF. SHUT KEY IN OFF POSITION THEN STARTED THE CAR AND HAVE NOT USED THE CRUISE SINCE. ALL I CAN SAY IS THANK THE LORD THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OR IT WOULD HAVE BE A TRAGEDY.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR WRECK ON A CITY STREET. MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND NOT EVEN ONE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. IT WAS A FRONT END COLLISION. I WAS TRAVELING EAST ABOUT 20-25 MILES PER HOUR AND S VEHICLE RAN A STOP SIGN GOING EXCESSIVELY FAST. I HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HER VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE SPUN AROUND 90 DEGREES AND ENDED UP IN A DITCH HITTING A STOP SIGN ON DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. FRONT OF MY EQUINOX WAS TOTALED.
THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM. THE MOTOR STILL WORKS AND THE FUSES AWARE GOOD. IT STOPPED ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH.

I EAS FRIVONG 2 PASSENGERS FOR LYFT AND IT STARTED RAINING VERY HARD.I TURNED ON MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON THE FASTEST SETTING BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE WHERE I WAS GOING AND I HEARED THE WIPERS BANGING HARD AS THEY WERE WIPING THE RAIN AWAY SO I CAN SEE THE ROAD WHEN SUDDENLY MY WIPERS STOPPED EN ROUTE TO MY FIRST ADDRESS.MY FIRST CLIENT LIVED 10 MINUTES AWAY IN RUSH HOUR BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC.I GOT SO SCARED AND MY CLIENTS WERE EVEN MORE SCARED BECAUSE I HAD TO DRIVE THEM HOME WITH MY HEAD STICKING OUT OF THE WINDOW.AFTER DROPPING THEM OFF SAFELY IN A TERRIBLE RAIN STORM MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING.WHEN I LOOKED INTO THEM IT WAS MY WIPER MOTOR AND LINKAGE THAT BROKE OFF AND STOPPED THEM FROM WIPING THE HEAVY RAIN.LUCKY I HAVE SOME KNOWLEDGE WITH THIS PART BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE IN A DIFFERENT VEHICLE,SO I BOUGHT A USED SET FROM THE JUNK YARD TO PUT ON MY NEW CAR.BUT I WOULD LIKE FOR A BRAND NEW SET PUT IN MY VEHICLE BEFORE THE USED ONE BREAKS ON ME.I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH AN AIR CONDITIONING/HEAT PART THAT BROKE INSIDE THE SAME VEHICLE.
ON 9/11/18 I WAS DRIVING THRU AN INTERSECTION AND AND VAN PULLED IN FRONT OF ME CASUING ME TO BRAKE AND MY CAR SHUT OFF. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED SO I COULDN'T PULL OFF THE ROAD. IT TOOK 2 TRIES TO RE-START MY CAR AND WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND PRESSED ON THE GAS IT STARTED SPUTTERING. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE CAR HAS SHUT OFF AS I WAS DRIVING. PREVIOUSLY WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THAT SAID THAT NO CODES SHOWED UP SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.
THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT GOES ON EVERY FEW SECONDS. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF ANYONE IS IN THE SEAT OR IT IS EMPTY. IT JUST STARTED OUT OF THE BLUE AND I AM READING THAT OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING.
WHEN SETTING DOWN IN MY CAR THE SET CLOSE UP ON YOU I HAVE TO STOP AND PUSH THE BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT THIS HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME I GET INTO MY CAR
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH IN A RAIN STORM, THE WIPERS WENT CLEAR LEFT AND STOPPED WORKING, I COULD NOT SEE TO CROSS OVER AND PULL OFF AND ALMOST HIT CAR IN FRONT. WIPER MOTOR RUNNING, APPEARS TO BE BROKEN LINKAGE ARM. THIS PROBLEM WAS RECALLED ON SAME YEAR AND MODEL IN CANADA, WHY NOT US

THE FAILURE PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM VIEWING THE ROAD CLEARLY. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED BEFORE RESUMING DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAVID MAUS CHEVROLET (972 TOWNE CENTER BLVD, SANFORD, FL 32771, (407) 641-4198) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,950.
WHILE DRIVING IN A RAIN STORM, RURAL, WINDING 2 LANE, SPEED 45MPH, WIPERS ON HIGH SPEED, BLADES SUDDENLY STOPPED IN UPRIGHT POSITION. NO VISIBILITY. HAD TO PULL TO SHOULDER AND WAIT OUT THE RAIN. FUSE GOOD. REAR WIPER WORKING. FRONT WIPER MOTOR MAKING SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO WORK. WAS TOLD AT AUTO PARTS STORE THAT SOME CONNECTION/GEAR INSIDE THE MOTOR LIKELY BUSTED. WOULD NEED A NEW WIPER MOTOR. DANGEROUS. LUCKY I WAS NOT ON A LARGE, BUSY FREEWAY AT THE TIME. THESE MOTORS SHOULD BE RECALLED.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH, DURING A TERRIBLE RAIN STORM, THE WIPERS JUST STOPPED. THANKFULLY, WE WERE SLOWING BECAUSE OF THE TORRENT OF RAIN AND WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF SAFELY AND CHECKED THE FUSES BUT THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM WE UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A RECALL IN CANADA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WHY NOT THE US?
WHILE DRIVING ALONG IN A RAINSTORM MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. IT WAS PRETTY STRESSFULL FOR A TIME TILL I WAS ABLE TO STOP. PLEASE ADD ME TO THE LIST OF COMPLAINTS. THE FIX WAS OVER 500 DOLLARS

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A TSB, WARRANTY, OR RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000. *TT*JB
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG PANEL HAS BEEN DETACHING ITSELF. POPPING IT BACK IN BUT IT CONTINUES TO FALL OFF ON ONE END. AFRAID IT MIGHT GO OFF AT RANDOM WHEN SOMEONE SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON JULY 24, 2018 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE DEALER (OPEN ROAD CHEVROLET, 2675 US-22, UNION, NJ 07083, (908) 686-2800) DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SUGGESTED THAT THE DEALER DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED THIS WIPER TRANSMISSION IS UNDER RECALL IN CANADA, WHERE MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. UPDATED 10/17/18*JB
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR/TRANSMISSION FAILURE, AFTER A DOWNPOUR OF RAIN THE VEHICLE WIPER ASSEMBLY STOPPED WORKING, I STOPPED AND WAITED UNTIL RAIN HAD CLEARED. TOOK IT INTO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL , SO I HAD IT FIXED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WAITED FOR THE RAIN TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V582000 (VISIBILITY). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN A RAIN STORM THAT ALSO PRODUCED TORNADOS IN SURROUNDING AREAS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED MOVING. THE WERE STUCK IN THE UP POSITION DUE TO THE ROD CONNECTING THE MOTOR AND THE BLADES TOGETHER BROKE AND DISENGAGED. THE WIPERS WOULD NO LONGER FUNCTION AND I HAD TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY WHILE NAVIGATING NEIGHBORHOOD ROADS WITH OTHER CARS IN THE ROAD IN A POURING RAIN STORM WITH LITTLE TO NO VISIBILITY.
TAKATA INFLATORS PASSENGER AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT IS ON. THIS HAS BEEN DINGING EVERY MILE TO ALERT US SINCE JULY 18, 2018. IT STARTED ON1-40 NEAR GATLINGBURG, TN. WE LISTENED TO THE DING DING DING ALL THE WAY HOME TO FRANKLIN, OH - OVER 6 STRAIGHT HOURS AND ARE STILL LISTENING TO THE DING DING DING EVERYTIME WE DRIVE THIS EQUINOX. TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR BUT WE DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. WARRANTY EXPIRED BY A FEW WEEKS. THIS IS COSTING US OVER $800 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. WE FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER. WE'VE BEEN DRIVING IT SINCE THE ALERT STARTED JULY 18TH, 2018. TOOK US TWO WEEKS TO GET INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOW WE'RE WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN. WE ARE DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT COULD POSSIBLE BE DANGEROUS. CONTACTED CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT HELP US AND CHEVROLET WOULD NOT BE PAYING TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED BECAUSE OUR VIN # WAS NOT ON THE RECALL. NO PROBLEM WITH OUR DEALERSHIP - STILL WAITING ON THE PART. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE RECALL AND WHY WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THANKS
TRAVELING BACK HOME FROM OUT OF STATE, DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH, A RAINSTORM BEGAN. THE FRONT WIPERS WORK FOR ABOUT A MINUTE THEN COMPLETELY QUIT IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. WE HAD TO DRIVE WITH NO WIPERS ABOUT 15 MPH TO AN AUTO SHOP. SHOP WORKER TESTED FUSE (WHICH WAS FINE) AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTORS SEEMED TO BE WORK, AND THE WORKER SUGGESTED EITHER SOME SORT OF PLASTIC GEAR WAS STRIPPED OR SOME SORT OF ROD BROKE.
SERVICE AIRBAG DASH LIGHT/ALARM COMES ON EVERY 10 SECONDS WHETHER SOMEONE IS IN THE SEAT OR NOT. WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE PRESENCE DETECTOR AND MODULE.
While driving car starts to sputter and stalls, just shuts off, both on city streets and highway. While going 70 mph it just stopped. We were lucky no one was driving right behind us or we would have been plowed over. Called Chevy corporate on at least 2 different occasions. They document and that’s as far as it goes. This is a random occurrence. It gets better and is fine for a while and then all of the sudden the issue starts again. We have changed gas, changed gas cap, & have had 2 timing solenoids replaced (all on different occasions) All of this seems to work for a bit and then the issue starts back. There is no warning when this happens. We have had the vehicle at an independent service center last year and it is now currently at another service center. It is just a matter of time before it stalls on the highway and someone gets killed. I’ve added the 1st initial time this happened (below). But there have been many more with the most recent being yesterday, May 25, 2021.
WATER IN FLOOR BOARD ON DRIVER SIDE! HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. THIS TIME IT'S BAD! HAD IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALER BUT, THEY COULDN'T FINE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG! LOOKED IT UP AND IT'S BEEN HAPPING TO QUITE A FEW OF THESE CARS FROM 2007 ON UP! IT'S BEEN A PROBLEM FOR AWHILE! CAN YOU FIX THE PROBLEM?
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND STARTED TO RAIN. TURNED ON WIPERS AND THEY WORKED FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN HEARD A POP AND THEY GOT STUCK IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. PULLED OVER IN THE RAIN. OPENED UP THE COVER AND SEE THAT THE LINKAGE FOR THE WIPERS IS CORRODED AND BROKEN. THIS CAR IS 3 YEARS OLD. WENT TO LOOK UP THE PART WHEN I GOT HOME AND SEE THERE IS A RECALL IN CANADA! WHY JUST CANADA? SAFETY IN THE USA DOESN'T MATTER? COME ON CHEVROLET, REALLY?
RECALL I WOULD START MY CAR AFTER DRIVING IT MY CAR WILL SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN WILL DO THIS SEVRALL TIME THUR OUT THE DAY . BEEN TAKING IT TO GET IT CHECK THEY SAY IT MIGHT BE THE OIL CHANGE BUT HAD A OIL CHANGE AND ALWAY PUT THE EXPENSIVE ONE ON.
SPEEDOMETER RANDOMLY DROPS TO ZERO WHILE DRIVING 60- 70MPH DOWN HIGHWAY AND AT LOWER SPEEDS AS WELL SUCH AS 30MPH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN STABILITY TRACKER COMES ON.THERMOMETER FOR ENGINE DROPS TO COLD AT SAME TIME AND CAR BEGINS JOLTING/JERKING. NEEDLES ON DASH BOARD GO HAY WIRE AND MOVE BACK AND FORTH. AFTER A FEW HOURS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THEN DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND FIX BECAUSE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS INTERMITTENT. HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE ON AND OFF FOR 3 YEARS. CHEVY ON STAR DIAGNOSTICS PROVIDES ERROR CODES THAT POINT TO TCM, ECM AND ABS-BREAKING AND STABILITY SYSTEM. CHEVY DEALERS ARE NEVER ABLE TO COME TO RESOLUTION AND PIN DOWN WHAT IS WRONG. ISSUE KEEPS HAPPENING. I HAVE MORE INVOICES/CHEVY ONSTAR DIAGNOSTIC DOCUMENTS SHOWING ISSUE AND ERROR CODES BUT I WAS UNABLE TO UPLOAD THEM ALL AS I CAN ONLY UPLOAD 5MB. AM ABLE TO PROVIDE THAT ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION IF NEED BE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY. FOUND THAT RODENTS HAD EATEN THROUGH WIRE TO OXYGEN SENSOR CAUSING IT TO ARCH. TOLD US THIS WAS THE SECOND VEHICLE THEY HAD REPAIRED WITH THIS DAMAGE YESTERDAY. SUSPICION THAT NON-PETROLEUM BASED WIRE CAUSING RODENTS TO EAT WIRES. ARCHING CAN CAUSE FIRES. WE ARE SENIOR CITIZENS ON FIXED INCOME. HAD BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTY TO PROTECT US FROM UNEXPECTED REPAIRS, BUT WERE TOLD THIS WAS NOT COVERED. IF THEY ARE MANUFACTURING WIRE COVERING IN SOMETHING LIKE SOY OIL THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS, HOW CAN WE BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT IN THIS INCIDENT EXCEPT IN THE POCKETBOOK. SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS - FRONT, COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. DEALERSHIP SAID AND REPLACED WIPER MODULE, 84241847:SL-N (10150-CT). THIS WAS IN A RECALL FOR THE EQUINOX. DEALERSHIP SAID OUR CAR WAS NOT RECALLED. ALSO, CAR WAS PRODUCED IN THEIR CANADIAN PLANT WHERE THEY WERE HAVING ISSUES WITH SAME. FOUND IT IRONIC AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND EXPRESSED THAT TO GM WHEN CUSTOMER SERVICE CALLED & OFFERED $100.
ENGINE STALLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. RESTARTED AFTER TURNING IGNITION OFF AND ON. CAR KEPT HESITATING EVERY TIME FROM BRAKE TO GAS WHEN TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD FROM STOPPED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH CODE P0010. DEALER KEPT IT FOR 4 DAYS AND COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, NO CHARGE. 10 DAYS LATE THE ISSUE RETURNED. CAR STALLED 4 TIMES IN A FEW MILES OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN AFTER CAR SITS IDLING IN TRAFFIC. MOVE FOOT FROM BRAKE TO GAS AND ENGINE DIES. TAKING TO THE DEALER AGAIN NEXT BUSINESS DAY. AFTER GOOGLE SEARCHES IT APPEARS THAT THE 'CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HOPE THE DEALER HAS GOOGLE SEARCH
ABOUT 4-6 MONTHS AGO, MY CAR STARTED TO JOLT EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, WHILE DRIVING IT, BUT IT NEVER SHUT OFF. LAST WEEK, WHEN I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, THE CAR DIED WHEN I SHIFTED IT INTO DRIVE TO LEAVE. IT TOOK A WHILE TO TURN BACK ON, BUT DID START UP AGAIN. ON MY WAY HOME, IT SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION. ONCE I GOT HOME, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AND I DID NOT DRIVE IT AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. I WENT TO WASH IT, AS I DO WEEKLY, AND FILL UP THE GAS TANK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF. THE NEXT MORNING, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE CAR CUT OFF AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED, I DROVE IT TO THE CLOSEST MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY. THEY ATTEMPTED TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND DIAGNOSE IT FOR THE GREATER PART OF THE DAY. THE MACHINE WAS READING A CAM SHAFT ISSUE; HOWEVER, WHEN THEY INSPECTED IT, THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH IT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE WITH THE CHEVY EQUINOX SEVERAL TIMES AND THAT CHANGING THE INTAKE/OUTTAKE VALVES GIVES A TEMPORARY RESOLVE; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM TYPICALLY COMES DOWN TO THE ENGINE/MOTOR HAVING TO BE REPLACED, WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY A $6000 REPAIR BILL, OR TAKE A COMPLETE LOSS ON THE CAR., BECAUSE METAL SHARDS AND OTHER THINGS GET TRAPPED IN THE ENGINE/MOTOR THAT CAN'T BE REMOVED. THEY DID REPLACE THE VALVES, WHICH COST ME $400+, TOLD ME TO KEEP DOING WHAT I DO, IN TERMS OF KEEPING MAINTENANCE UP, AND HOPE THAT SOMETHING IS DONE BEFORE THE ENGINE/MOTOR NEEDS REPLACING. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY TRANSPORTATION AND THAT OF MY TWO CHILDREN (AGES 1 & 11). I CANNOT HAVE MY CAR STOP, IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING IT, AND HAVE THAT RESULT IN A FATAL LOSS OF ME AND/OR MY CHILDREN. A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THAT MULTIPLE YEARS OF THIS MAKE/MODEL CAR HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND IT IS ALARMING THAT NO RECALL IS IN PLACE. THE CONSUMER IS BEING LEFT TO COVER THE COST OF SAFETY IN FAULTY VEHICLES.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE A YEAR AGO. A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO I NOTICED THAT DRIVING AT NIGHT IS DANGEROUS. IT USED TO LIGHT THE ROADWAY GREAT, NOW I CAN HARDLY SEE 2 CARS AHEAD OF ME. ALSO I BROUGHT IT TO DEALERSHIPS ATTENTION THAT THE LIGHTS GO DIM WHEN STARTING. INSIDE AND OUT. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I'M NOT ALONE I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS ON PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TO GET A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER SOURCE. THE PROBLEM IS NOBODY WHATS TO WAIT AROUND UNTIL DARK TO SEE WHAT I'M NOT SEEING...THE ROAD ! I ASKED MY DEALSHIP I PURCHASED TOP PLEASE GO WITH ME, THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND. GUY GAVE ME LITERALLY FIVE MINUTES., WAS NOT TOTALLY DARK, BUT HE DID SEE SOMETHING. OH YES THEY SAID THEY ADJUSTED LIGHTS, AND THEY SAID THEY CHANGED 1 LIGHT BULB IN EACH HEADLIGHT..AND SAID THEY ADJUSTED THEM., AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO SEE MY CAR BACK !! REAL PROFESSIONAL ! RIGHT ? NOTHING CHANGED. THAT IS WHY I TRULY BELIEVE THEY NEED TO BE RECALLED. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CANNOT FIX. SO I'M PAYING FOR A CAR THAT I CAN ONLY DRIVE AT NIGHT. I'M TRYING TO FIND A PLEASE . WHERE I AN TRUST TO BRING MY CAR. REALLY BAD. I HAVE A PAPER TRAIL ON MY VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP, DEFINATELY NOT TRUST WORTHY. YOU KNOW ITS BAD WHEN YOU HAVE THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELL ME HIS WIFE DRIVES WITH THE HIGH BEAMS, AND IT WAS OK.. I USED TO GET FLASHED WHEN MY LOW BEAMS WERE ON ! NOT NOW , I PUT MY HI BEAMS ON TO SEE THE REACTION FROM ONCOMING CARS...ALL TEN CARS THAT PASSED ME DID NOT FLASH THEIR LIGHTS TO TELL ME TO TURN OFF MY HIGH BEAMS. AN ASSOC. ASKED MY IF I WAS WEARN SUNGLASSES AT NITE! THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED MY CAR WAS AT ROBERT GREENS IN MONTICELLO NY.
