While driving 65 mph in a 70 mpg speed limit interstate highway zone in a rain storm: the wipers were working and then a noise happened and then the wipers stopped, stuck, in "up" on windshield. Had to slow down with other vehicles behind me and to the side of me to move over 2 lanes to get to the shoulder of road to pull over and stop.
THIS OCCURRED TWICE NOW. FIRST ON MARCH 24TH 2021, AND SECOND ON MAY 5TH, 2021. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN BOTH TIMES, AND THE WIPERS STOPPED AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN I PUT THEM ON THEIR HIGHEST SPEED. I WAS TRAVELLING AT 65MPH BOTH TIMES, LUCKILY AWAY FROM CARS, SO I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS. THE WIPER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED ON MARCH 27TH, AND I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING IT BACK TO THE SHOP TODAY. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE WIPER MOTOR APPEARED TO RUN WHEN THE STICK WAS LIFTED TO ACTIVATE THE WIPERS, SO IT WAS NOT A MOTOR ISSUE.
My car had no advance warning as was supposed to for low oil levels. I was driving highway speed during rush hour when I hear a loud bang my car jolts to a stop and I’m left stranded. The car was only 5 years old and 100,000 miles. The bang was the engine that blew due to a major oil consumption or leak issue with the 2.4 and the transmission also burnt and needed replaced as well. I bought used and did not even make the first payment.
MY 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX WAS SCHEDULED FOR ITS REGULAR OIL CHANGE ON TUESDAY, APRIL 27TH AT 8 AM. THE WEEK PRIOR I STARTED HEARING A "KNOCKING" NOISE AND TWO WEEKS PRIOR SMELLED AN ODOR THROUGHOUT THE CABIN. THREE DAYS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT I DROVE CAR 5 MINUTES ONSITE AND WORK AND PARKED IT. I CAME OUT 40 MINUTES LATER AND IT WOULD NOT START (HOWEVER, IT DID TURN OVER). ATTEMPTED TO JUMPSTART VEHICLE TO NO AVAIL. CONTACTED TOW COMPANY ON MONDAY AFTER CHECKING AGAIN AND HAD IT TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP THAT WAS SCHEDULED TO DO SERVICE. RECEIVED A CALL AT 10:47 AM STATING THAT VEHICLE NEEDED NEW ENGINE, SOMETHING BROKE INSIDE. I AM AT A LOSS FOR WORDS. 120 K MILES AND ENGINE DOWN??!! NO WARNING SIGNAL, NO LOW ENGINE LIGHT, NOTHING!! GMC NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES AND INCLUDE ALL EQUINOX IN THE RECALL, FOR OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILED WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND MANUALLY WIPED THE WINDSHIELD TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
DRIVING FROM DETROIT MICHIGAN ON I-94 HIGHWAY BACK TO MY HOME IN JACKSON MICHIGAN, MY WIPER BLADES WERE ON THE INTERMITTENT SETTING DUE TO SPRINKLING AND LIGHT RAIN ON APRIL 15TH, 2021. THE WIPERS FAILED AND THE RIGHT SIDE WIPER WAS STUCK IN A VERTICAL POSITION IN THE FIELD OF VIEW OF THE DRIVER, THE LEFT WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT AND PART OF THE TIP WAS HANGING OFF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS HAPPENED NEAR DEXTER, MI WHERE I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND TOOK THE BACK WAY HOME WHICH CONSISTS OF DIRT ROADS AND PAVED STREETS FOR THE LAST 20 MILES OF MY JOURNEY HOME. THE WIPERS NO LONGER WORK, BUT I WAS ABLE TO PLACE THEM BACK IN THE CORRECT STARTING POSITION. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, IT CLEAR THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH CHEVY EQUINOX'S OF MY YEAR. I DO HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED. THAT APPOINTMENT IS NOT UNTIL APRIL 23RD, OF 2021.
While driving, the check engine light came on. After getting the code we called our local mechanic and he told us the first thing we should do was check the oil level, as this is a common problem with 2015 Equinoxes. We had to add 2 quarts just to get the oil to even reach the dipstick. At no time did we ever receive an indicator about the oil being low, we just got the check engine light. Our mechanic said if we were lucky that an oil change might fix the issue. After leaving the shop, the Equinox kept stalling and the engine light came back on. We took it back in and he replaced both solenoids, which we thought had fixed the problem, but he informed us about this being a well-known issue. We then had to take the Equinox to a GM dealership anyway to fix the windshield wiper transmission issue (which is a known issue that I only discovered after my wipers broke while I was driving on a busy highway in the rain) and we asked them to do a fuel consumption test. The diagnosis came back that the pistons and rings need to be replaced, which appears to be the same issue that the 2011-2013 Equinoxes/Terrains have. There are special coverages for the previous model years and there was also a class-action lawsuit, so I don't understand why I'm repeatedly being told by GM that it's not a common issue with 2015s. As someone who works for a supplier to GM and who has friends and family members who work for GM, I'm not ignorant to how the automotive industry works. It's no secret that these engines get used across multiple model years, so it seems likely that this is the same 2.4L engine. Yet GM has repeatedly told me that even though I believe that this is a common issue, it actually is not.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2015 EQUINOX THAT HAS LESS THAN 55,000 MILES. APPEARS TO BE THE WIPER MOTOR AND NOT JUST A FUSE. I GOT IN MY CAR TO LEAVE THE STORE ON A RAINY NIGHT, TURNED ON THE WIPERS AND HEARD A POP OR A CLICK AND THEY STOPPED WHERE THEY WERE AND I CAN NOW MOVE THEM FREELY WITH MY HAND BUT THEY WILL NOT GO WITH THE CONTROLS.
The paint on my car started bubbling and falling off i contacted my local chevy dealer who told me too bad its outside of the warranty , the paint is defective
THE WIPERS STOP WORKING DURING USE AND WIPER TRANSMISSION OR BUSHINGS HAVE TO BE REPLACED FREQUENTLY. IT HAD HAPPENED IN 05/2020 12/20 AND NOW 3/21. WIPERS STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
WHILE DRIVING IN A STORM THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY THING AS I HAD A CHILD IN THE CAR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND WAIT THE STORM OUT.

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND PARKED AT A NEARBY PARKING LOT UNTIL SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 147,000.
CONSTANT BURNING OF OIL, UP TO 1 QUART IN LESS THAN 1,000 MILES. HAD OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE DUE TO ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES WITH THIS MOTOR, AND LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY REFUSES TO COVER ANY REPAIRS THAT COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH OIL CONSUMPTION.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT IN TO GET ASSESSED. WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES, THIS VEHICLE REQUIRES A NEW ENGINE. IT CONSUMES A LOT OF OIL AND HAS BEEN SINCE I BOUGHT IT ONE YEAR AGO, ME HAVING TO ADD OIL EVERY 2 WEEKS. ALSO, THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACEMENT-WHICH IS STILL ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. EVERY MECHANIC I HAVE SPOKEN TO SAYS THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL HAS BEEN HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. AND THERE IS NO RECALL.
THE VEHICLE HAS A EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN. THE FUMES ARE CONCERNING BECAUSE IT'S COULD CAUSE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND GM SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I REVIEW NUMEROUS FORMS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMALLY STRONG EXHAUST ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL CRACKS TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER EDD ROGERS CHEVROLET BUICK, LLC., (674 W BOCKMAN WAY, SPARTA, TN 38583) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,200.
MY VEHICLE STALLED RECENTLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY COMING TO A STOP.. PRIOR TO THE STALL WHEN I TURNED MY CAR ON IT MADE A TICK SOUND BUT DROVE OK UNTIL IT STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AND DROVE HOME. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL THERE IT WAS EMPTY. I WAS WELL UNDER THEM TIME BEFORE I NEEDED MY NEXT OIL CHANGE. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A PISTON AND RING ISSUE THAT WAS THE SAME THING DESCRIBED IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT INVOLVING 2010-2013 EQUINOX. BECAUSE MINE IS A 2015 I RECEIVED SOME COST ASSISTANCE BUT PAID $1200 OUT OF POCKET FOR THE FIX. SEEMS LIKE GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NOT LET CONSUMERS KNOW ABOUT THIS SAFETY CONCERN. I WAS UPSET BECAUSE I DRIVE WITH MY CHILDREN WHO ARE 3 AND 1. GM NEEDS TO TELL THEIR CONSUMERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING ON ME. THE FUSE IS FINE AND SO IS THE MOTOR. I HEAR THEM TRY TO MOVE BUT WILL NOT
MY VEHICLE HAD A OIL CHANGE AT 86,000 MILES. I HIT 90,722 MILES . THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FINE AND WHEN I GOT OFF WORK AND TRIED TO START THE CAR IT STARTED BUT THEN SHUT OFF. I HAD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, NO LOW OIL LIGHT AND HAD A PERFECT DIAGNOSTICS REPORT ON MY ONSTAR, I HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER PER ON STAR, AFTER SPEAKING TO THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THE MOTOR BLEW UP BECAUSE IT JUMPED TIME AND DUMPED OIL. I WAS ALSO TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MOTOR BUT GM IS REFUSING TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE WARRANTY JUST WENT UP 6 MONTHS AGO . I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL SHOPS CHEVY KNOWS ABOUT THIS TIME CHAIN OR JUMPING TIME ISSUE AND IN MOST CASES A NEW MOTOR IS REQUIRED. I WOULD LIKE TO UNDERSTAND WHY NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND HOW OIL COULD DUMP AFTER HAVING A OIL CHANGE 3,000 MILES GIVE OR TAKE ? AND WHY CHEVY IS PASSING THE PROBLEM ONTO THE CUSTOMER.
OUR 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX HAS JUST OVER 78,000 MILES ON IT. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT AND SAID IT WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND MAKING A NOISE. SHE GOT IT HOME AND WE HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP. WE WERE TOLD THAT DUE TO A FAULTY PVC PIPE IN OR NEAR THE INTAKE HAD FROZEN UP CAUSING PRESSURE TO BUILD UP AND IT BLEW OUR REAR MAIN SEAL, SNAPPED THE TIMING CHAIN AND BREAKING OF TEETH. THE MECHANIC SAID THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THAT A SPECIAL BULLETIN HAD BEEN ISSUED BUT NOT ON OUR YEAR. WE ENDED UP PAYING JUST SHY OF 1900.00 TO FIX THIS. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE DESIGN FLAW HADN'T BEEN FIXED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN REPEATEDLY. WE STILL OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR AND WE CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THIS KIND OF BILL AGAIN. WE WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED.
MY 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX COMPLETELY FAILED ON 2/17/21. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR FIRST TIME THAT AFTERNOON AND 8 MINUTES LATER THE CAR COMPLETELT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. CAR HAD TO BE PUSHED TO SAFETY THEN TOWED TO MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED TIMING CHAIN FAILURE WHICH ALSO DESTROYED ENGINE CYLINDERS. VEHICLE HAS 106K MILES AND ALL MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED MAINTAINANCE WAS DONE ON SCHEDULE AT CHEVY DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE
LIVING IN TEXAS WE NORMALLY DON'T HAVE VERY COLD TEMPERATURES BUT THIS WINTER WE HAD SINGLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES AND NEGATIVE WIND-CHILL FOR SEVERAL DAYS. MY FAMILY HAD NO RUNNING WATER OR ELECTRICITY AND TRIED TO DRIVE UP THE ROAD FOR FOOD (ROUGHLY 1/8TH A MILE) AND NOTICED A TRAIL OF OIL WHEN WE GOT OUT. MY HUSBAND HAS WORKED ON VEHICLES HIS WHOLE LIFE AND AFTER SOME INVESTIGATING AND RESEARCH DETERMINED THE PCV VALVE HAD FROZEN WHICH CAUSED THE REAR MAIN SEAL TO BLOW. AFTER TAKING IT TO A GM DEALER WE DISCOVERED HOW COMMON THE PROBLEM WAS, THERE WAS EVEN ANOTHER EQUINOX WITH THE SAME DIAGNOSIS (WE LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA SO FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AT THE SAME TIME SAYS A LOT). IT WAS NOT A CHEAP FIX COMING IN AT $1400. THIS WAS NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE BUT A FAILURE ON GM"S PART WITH THEIR FAULTY DESIGN AND EXECUTION OF THE MOTOR. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OTHER STORIES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, SOMETIMES CAUSING EVEN MORE DAMAGE THAN WE HAD. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL OR COMPENSATION GIVEN TO THOSE WHO HAVE FOUND THEMSELVES IN A REAL BIND FROM THIS HAPPENING. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF FILING A CLAIM THROUGH INSURANCE, SO HOPEFULLY THEY CAN HELP, BUT I CANNOT SPEAK ON THAT YET.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE REAR MAIN SEAL TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MY EQUINOX DOWNTOWN ST LOUIS, 3 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. CAR WASN'T RUNNING RIGHT. SHAKING AND RATTLING. HE GOT PULLED INTO A PARKING GARAGE WHERE LATER IT HAD TO BE TOWED. THE NEXT DAY, THE BODY SHOP TOLD US THE PCV VALVE WAS CLOGGED OR FROZED AND PROBABLY BLEW THE SEALS. WE HAD TO HAVE OUR CAR TOWED 3 HOURS BACK TO HOME. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFOREHAND. I HAVE COMPLETED ALL MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD NO TROUBLE. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS AND THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS. AND IN THIS CASE LEFT MY FAMILY STRANEDED 3 HOURS FROM HOME!
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN.
IT HAS 116 K MILES ON IT. IT DID NOT START. WE CHANGE NEW BATTERY BUT NO LUCK. THEN, WE TOW IT TO THE SHOP, THE MECHANIC FOUND THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND MISSED UP LOT OF THINGS. NOW, HE ADVISED TO CHANGE THE ENGINE AND FOUND IT VERY EXPENSIVE. OIL CHANGED REGULARLY AND THE MECHANIC FOUND OIL INSIDE THE ENGINE IS STILL CLEAN.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR THE OTHER DAY AND IT STARTED MAKING A STRANGE NOISE AND A WAS A HALF A MILE FROM MY HOME AND PULLED IN THE DRIVE WAY TO HAVE MY HUSBAND CHECK MY CAR AND OIL WAS PORING OUT OF MY REGION ON THE DRIVEWAY. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS WENT ON TO TELL ME THERE WAS A PROBLEM EITHER. TOOK IT TO A SERVICE GARAGE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME $4,500 TO FIX IT. I SERVICED MY CAR ON THE REGULAR SO I SHOULD OF HAD NO PROBLEMS.
WITH ONLY ONE DAY NOTICE MY ALERT SYSTEM NOTED ON MY DASHBOARD TO REDUCE POWER. AND TAKING MY VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP, I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE WAS RUINED BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, WHICH IS A WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THE CHEVY EQUINOX. MY CAR IS A 2015 CHEVY EQUINOX. THE REASON I FEEL THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IS BECAUSE THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF AND DIES ON THE HIGHWAY EVEN THOUGH I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GO 30 MILES AN HOUR. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AND WAS ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE CAR CONTINUED TO STOP. I STOP DRIVING ON HIGHWAY UNTIL I COULD GET HOME AND THEN THE CAR DIED IN DRIVEWAY AND I HAD NO BREAKS EVEN TO STOP THE CAR FROM ROLLING. I FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A ISSUE THAT GMC SHOULD BACK UP BECAUSE IT IS SUPPOSEDLY A WELL-KNOWN FACT THAT THE CHEVY EQUINOX HAS A HIGH CONSUMPTION OF OIL USAGE. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT INFORMATION WHEN I PURCHASED THAT VEHICLE AS A USED VEHICLE THREE YEARS AGO. I OWE $11,000 ON THIS VEHICLE THAT I AM BEING QUOTED $8000 FOR REPAIRS. IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS PROBLEM THEN MY NAME SHOULD BE ENTERED IN THAT LAWSUIT SO THAT I COULD GET THE REPAIRS DONE ON MY VEHICLE SO THAT I AM ABLE TO GET BACK-AND-FORTH TO WORK AND GET MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL AND GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED
MY VEHICLE HAS CONSUMED MORE OIL THEN I CAN EVEN PHANTOM, TRADITIONALLY OIL IS SUPPOSED TO LAST 3K MILES AND WHEN YOU REGULARLY CHANGE IT YOU SHOULDN'T NOTICE MUCH CONSUMPTION IF ANY AT ALL, THIS VEHICLE NOT ONLY CONSUMES ON AVERAGE A QUART OF OIL EVERY 500 - 1K MILES BUT I AM ALSO NEVER ALERTED THAT MY OIL IS LOW. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS TYPICALLY WITH SYNTHETIC OILS COMING ALONG AND THE NEW RECOMMENDATION BEING 7500K MILES BEFORE OIL CHANGE I WOULD BE COMPLETELY DRIED UP IF I DID NOT CHECK MY DIP STICK REGULARLY. I ACTIVELY SEE SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE WHEN LEAVING A RED LIGHT AND CAN SMELL THE BURN WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAN'T BE GOOD FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. MY CAR WILL HAVE ROUGH/SURGING IDLE AT RED LIGHTS, HAS EVEN SHUT OFF AT ONE POINT COMPLETELY EVEN. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE O2 SENSORS AND I CONTINUE TO ADD 1-2 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES TO KEEP UP WITH THE EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION. THERE WAS A LAWSUIT CLAIMING THIS PROBLEM ONLY EFFECTED 2010-2013 EQUINOX HOWEVER I KNOW NUMEROUS EQUINOX OWNERS WITH MODELS NEWER LIKE MYSELF WITH THESE SAME ISSUES. GM SHOULD EXPAND ENDING WITH MODEL YEAR 2017 AND STOP HIDING BEHIND THE BUSH.
WIPER WAS FIXED ON 04/2020 BY PEP BOYS IN WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ AND ON 01/31/2021 THE SAME COMPLAIN (IT JUST STOP WORKING).
I WAS OUT RUNNING ERRANDS AND I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGH AND IT EVEN STALLED TWICE WHILE I WAS AT STOP LIGHTS. NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING WRONG BASED ON THE LIGHTS (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT, ETC WAS LIT) BUT AFTER I GOT HOME I NOTICED AN OIL LEAK UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE ON MY DRIVEWAY. GOT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY RECOMMENDED A NEW ENGINE DUE TO THE PCV VALVE FREEZING (I LIVE IN NORTHERN US AND IT'S WINTER) WHICH CAUSED THE REAR MAIN OIL SEAL TO FAIL AND A MASSIVE OIL LEAK. BECAUSE OF THAT, I WAS LIKELY DRIVING WITH LOW OIL PRESSURE, SOMETHING THAT THE CAR SHOULD HAVE HAD A SYSTEM TO TELL ME BUT DIDN'T. AND I'VE ONLY GOT 89,000 MILES ON IT! ENGINES SHOULDN'T BE FAILING THAT QUICKLY.
WHILE DRIVING IN A RAINSTORM ON COUNTRY ROADS, THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE WIPER MOTOR STILL TURNS BUT THE BLADES WON'T MOVE. SUPER DANGEROUS!! WE HAD IT REPAIRED AND 2 MONTHS LATER IT DID THE SAME THING DURING A SNOWSTORM. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND THEY HAD A RECALL ON A PREVIOUS EQUINOX MODEL BUT NONE SINCE. COME ON GM. GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF!!!
WHEN VEHICLE IS UP TO NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE ENGINE STALLS WHEN TRYING TO GO FORWARD OR REVERSE FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE IT STALL AT INTERSECTIONS AND AT STOP LIGHTS WHEN ACCELERATING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT SCAN TOOL INDICATES INTAKE TIMING ADVANCED BUT CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR IS GOOD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THE WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH WHEN SHIFTING IN GEAR, THE CONTACT NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD THE AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE AND FIRE UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ITSELF. NO ONE WAS INJURED DURING THE FIRE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RESIDENCE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT NOTIFIED, AND FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
VEHICLE HAS 111,000 MILES ON IT AND CONSUMES 3 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGE INTERVALS. WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE OIL CHANGED WHEN IT IS DUE. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT WHEN I TAKE THE OIL FILL CAP OFF, THERE IS A WHITE MILKY RESIDUE (WHICH INDICATES THAT THERE IS MOISTURE IN THE ENGINE) NOW, I KNOW THAT THESE 2.4 LITER ECOTECH ENGINES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR PCV ISSUES. BESIDES THE PC ISSUE, THE OTHER ISSUE THAT WORRIES ME IS THAT THE PISTON/RINGS COULD ALSO BE BURNT UP. THE VEHICLE STARTED STALLING OUT AS OF LAST WEEK, THEN FLASHED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DTC CODES WERE P011 AND P010 WHICH ARE SIGNALS FOR BAD INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAM ACTUATOR SOLENOID'S OR (VVS T VARIABLE VEHICLE TIMING), MY GUESS IS THAT THE OIL IS SO CONTAMINATED THAT IT PLUGGED THE OIL SCREENS ON BOTHER ACTUATORS CAUSING THEM TO SEND FALSE SIGNALS TO THE ECM ON TIMING ADJUSTMENT TO THROTTLE RATIO. I AM NOT IN THE MARKET NOR CAN I AFFORD TO SELL, TRADE-OFF, OR PAY A MECHANIC THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. MY QUESTION IS, WILL THIS BE COVERED BY GM? OR AM I STUCK WITH A CAR AND A PAYMENT THAT SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND COLLECTS DUST?
REAR MAIN SEAL BUSTED OPEN DUE TO FREEZING PCV. THIS YEAR OF VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TBS RECALL. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, MY EINGINE CODE, AND THE REPAIR/THE FIX, AND TYPE OF PROBLEM IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS DESCRIBED IN TBS 14882. MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, BUT IT IS NOT.
Exhaust manifold is leaking exhaust inside the car. It is extremely strong smelling and produces nausea. It is coming into the interior cabin from the engine compartment by way of the hvac/ventilation system. It is a daily occurrence. It was not noticeable when I purchased this car used in 2021, but has become increasingly noticable more and more each day/week/month. This is not occurring because of any incident or accident.
ON DEC 31, 2020 I STRUCK A DEER ON A COUNTY RD GOING APPROX 45MPH. THE IMPACT WAS SO HARD THE DRIVE TRAIN WAS SHOVED INTO THE CAR AND THE RADIATOR EXPLODED AND THE ENTIRE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS DESTROYED. NEITHER PASS. NOR DRIVERS SIDE DOORS WOULD OPEN. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS YET THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BUT YOU COULD SEE A WHITE POWDERY SMOKE AND IT SMELL AS IF THEY DID AND THE CAR NOW SAYS SERVICE AIRBAGS. ALSO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT NEVER RETRACTED BACK AND MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE BOTH INJURED AS I WAS SLAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL SUFFERING DAMAGE TO MY CHEST AND FACE AND HER HEAD/ FACE BOUNCED OFF THE DASH DUE TO THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING AND THE SEATBELTS NOT WORKING. WE ARE LUCKY WE WEREN'T KILLED AS THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE, ENGINE INCLUDED WAS PUSHED TO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. WE WERE GOING TO LOOK INTO GETTING US ANOTHER EQUINOX AS I HAD JUST HAD THIS ONE FOR ABOUT SEVEN MONTHS BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT BUT AFTER READING ALL THESE REPORTS THAT ARE IDENTICAL TO OURS AS FAR AS SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS GO AND REALIZING THIS IS A VERY COMMON THING WITH 2015 EQUINOX AND AFTER THIS HAPPENING TO US IT'S OBVIOUS THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE OR AT LEAST NOT SAFE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BUT YET THAT HASN'T HAPPENED. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF REPORTS EXACTLY LIKE THIS ONE. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CHEVY FOR LETTING THIS CONTINUALLY HAPPEN WITH NO RECALL OR WARNING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. . A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED ON THIS AND INJURIES DID OCCUR. THE POLICE OFFICER AND THE WRECKER DRIVER SAID THEY'VE NEVER SEEN A DEER DO SO MUCH DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE BEFORE AND THE OFFICER COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON US AND SAID THAT WE MOST DEFINITELY NEED TO CHECK INTO IT BECAUSE HE WOULD ASSUME THAT THEY WERE RECALLED BUT HERE WE ARE AND THEY'RE NOT.
THE CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING AND TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC SHOP WHO DIAGNOSED THE REASON DUE TO A BROKE CHAIN AND THIS CAR HAS FREQUENT OIL CHANGES EVERY 3000 MILES AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION OR EVEN WARNING SIGNS PRIOR NOW THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT APPEARS TO HAVE THESE SAME ISSUES SEVERAL YEARS BACK AND THERE WERE RECALL AND I BELIEVE THAT MY CAR IS ALSO PART OF THIS SAME PROBLEM AND I NEED TO KNOW IF MY VEHICLE CAN GET FIXED UNDER THE RECALL POLICY.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES FOR A COUPLE WEEKS WITH ROUGH IDLE AND MY RPMS REVING WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL. ON 12/26/20, MY VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IT. UPON RESTARTING IT, IT WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE, BUT NO DASH LIGHTS WERE ON. I HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE SHOP INFORMED ME THAT IT HAD LOST ALL OF THE OIL DUE TO A BUSTED MAIN SEAL. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD A BULLETIN THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM IN MY VEHICLE. THE SEAL IS BUSTED BECAUSE THE DESIGN OF MY CAR ALLOWS MOISTURE INTO THE MANIFOLD WHICH THEN FREEZES AND BUSTS THE SEAL. IT IS COSTING ME $1500 TO FIX THE SEAL AND CLEAN THE MOISTURE FROM FROM THE MANIFOLD. I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I AM VERY SCARED THAT I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE TALK TO CHEVY, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED.
FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY OTHER SIGNS OF FAILURE, STOPPED WORKING. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WIPERS WERE IN USE AS BACKING OUT OF PERSONAL DRIVEWAY. NO INDUCTOR LIGHTS ARE PRESENT.
WE HIT A DEER GOING 70 MPH LAST NIGHT ON INTERSTATE 10 HEADED WESTBOUND , UPON IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. WE SMELLED SOMETHING THAT SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING, IT WAS THE IGNITER TO THE AIRBAGS. NOW THE CAR IS GIVING US A SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN. OUR AIRBAGS ALL FAILED TO DEPLOY.
THE WIPERS IN THIS SUV HAVE STOPPED WORKING 4-5 TIMES NOW. MY HUSBAND REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS 3-4 TIMES AND THEN REPLACED THE WIPER TRANSMISSION LINKAGE. 2 OF THE TIMES IT WAS REPLACED THEY JUST STOPPED WORKING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE RAINING HEAVILY. OTHER TIMES I NOTICED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY BEFORE LEAVING WHEN I TURNED WIPERS ON AND THEY DID NOT MOVE. TODAY THEY AGAIN ARE NOT WORKING, I NOTICED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY AFTER CLEARING ICE AND SNOW FROM WINDSHIELD BEFORE STARTING THE CAR. THE PROBLEM BEGAN AROUND 30-40K MILES. I'M CURRENTLY AT 97-98K
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT 6:15AM CST ON WEDNESDAY DEC. 16TH. IT WAS STILL DARK AND RAINING ABOUT 38 DEGREES ON A HWY AT 55MPH, WHEN FOR NO REASON AND NO WARNING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT FROM A SLOW TO MEDIUM SPEED TO NOT WORKING AT ALL. THEY CAME UP AT ABOUT 90 DEGREES STRAIGHT UP. THEN A LITE 'POP' SOUND AND THEY WENT ALL THE WAY OFF THE WINDSHIELD HANGING OFF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. SHE HAD TO PULL OFF THE HWY AND LIMPED DOWN THE SIDE TO A SAFE PARKING AREA, THEN HAVE HER BOSS PICK HER UP. SO I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE. THE INTERNET WAS FULL OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. BUT THE STRANGE PART, THEY (CHEVY) DID A 'RECALL' ON THE 2013. WHY NOT 2014 & 2015? NEEDLESS TO SAY MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP HAD PLENTY OF THEM IN STOCK FOR $144.00 FOR THE WHOLE WIPER TRANSMISSION PART. I BOUGHT ONE AND CHANGE IT IN THE 40 DEGREE RAIN. IT HAS WORKED LIKE NEW SINCE.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS I WILL NEVER BUY A GM VEHICLE AGAIN BECAUSE YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICES IS REPULSIVE. I AM A SINGLE PERSON ON ONE INCOME I THOUGHT THAT I HAD A RELIABLE VEHICLE BUT I SEE NOW THAT I DON'T.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RAN SCAN SAID FLEX FUEL SENSOR BAD REPLACED NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. SCAN SAYS LOW VOLTAGE IN FLEX FUEL COMPOSITION SENSOR. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THE PROBLEM WITH THIS EQUINOX. SEEMS LIKE EVERYTIME YOU FIX ONE THING SOMETHING ELSE GO WRONG. THE RADION HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. THE HEATER RESISTOR WENT BAD REPLACED IT NOW THE BLOWER MOTOR IS BAD. THIS CAR IS A LLEMON FROM THE FRONT BUMPER TO THE REAR BUMPER.. PIECE OF JUNK. EVERYTHING HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER ONE THING OR THE OTHER IS REPAIRED....

BEGAN VEHICLE MOTION FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN ACTIVATED WINDSHIELD WIPERS WITH WASH FLUID AGAIN FOR A FEW SECONDS- DRIVER-SIDE WIPER BEGAN TO MOVE ERRATICALLY AND THEN FLOPPED OVER TO DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD PILLAR; PASSENGER-SIDE WIPER CONTINUED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. FLUID WAS 'BLOWN OFF' BY WIND BUT HAD TO STOP VEHICLE AND PLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM BACK IN REST POSITION BY COWL. DRIVER-SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM NO LONGER OPERATES. UNSAFE VEHICLE OPERATION WILL OCCUR IF INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS ARISE.
