WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING DURING RAIN STORM. INTERNET SHOWS 1000'S OF THE SAME ISSUE GOING BACK TO 2010 AT LEAST. WIPER MODULE IS WHAT THEY CALL IT.$325.00 PER CAR TO FIX. ?? BUSHINGS THAT HOLD ARM BREAK. WHY IF THIS MANY PEOPLE FOR THIS MANY YEARS HAVE THIS PROBLEM DOES CHEVROLET NOT CHANGE THE PART.OR BUY BETTER PARTS. THIS IS A SCAM TO MAKE MONEY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. WE WERE TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT. YOU SHOULD NEVER RUN YOUR WIPERS ON HIGH OR IT WILL BREAK AGAIN ?????WHAT THE ??? THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST CHEVY I WILL EVER BUY...I DO NOT LIKE BEING SCAMMED AND WILL NEVER BE BY GM AGAIN !!!!
WHILE TRAVELLING DOWN HIGHWAY I HEARD A CLICK AND THE HEADLIGHTS AND HEATER TURNED OFF BY THEMSELVES. WAS UNABLE TO TURN THEM ON. THANK GOD I WAS ON A STRAIGHT STRIP AND NOT A CURVE. CONTACTED ON STAR. FIGURED OUT THAT THE HIGH BEAMS COULD BE ACTIVATED BY HOLDING THE HIGH BEAM SWITCH TOWARD ME WHILE DRIVING. DROVE HOME DRIVING WITH ONE HAND AND HOLDING HIGH BEAM SWITCH WITH OTHER. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WONDERED IF THE CAR WOULD START SO I TURNED IT OVER AND THE HEADLIGHTS AND HEATER CAME BACK ON.
I DROVE THE VEHICLE ONTO A 7" RAMP TO CHANGE THE OIL. WHEN I STARTED TO BACK OFF THE RAMPS, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHERE THE OTHER DRIVER RAN A STOP SIGN AND I RAN INTO THE SIDE OF HIS CAR HEAD ON, I WAS GOING BETWEEN 35-40MILES PER HOUR. I WAS DRIVING IN A NEIGHBORHOOD, MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED, THE CAR CENTER CONSOLE STATED THAT THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN LITTLETON COLORADO.
THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED ON ITS OWN INTO THOUSANDS OF TINY PIECES, ALTHOUGH IT REMAINED INTACT UNTIL I OPENED AND CLOSED THE CAR DOORS, THEN IT FELL APART INTO THE BACK END OF VEHICLE. I WAS SITTING STATIONARY IN THE CAR WITH ANOTHER PASSENGER IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT. ENGINE WAS OFF FOR 5 MINUTES. OUTSIDE AIR TEMP 48, INSIDE 65. NO BULLET HOLE, NO ROCK MARK OR ANY OTHER EXTERNAL CAUSE.
BACKING DOWN A STEEP DRIVEWAY WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WORKING FINE THE FIRST SEVERAL SECONDS THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND CAR ROLLED ACROSS A BUSY STREET JUMPING THE CURB AND HITTING A TELEPHONE POLE AND FENCE. NO PERSON OR VEHICLE NOR MY VEHICLE WAS HIT FORTUNATELY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE RENTAL COMPANY BROUGHT ME A NEWER EQUINOX AND THE DAY AFTER WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE IN HOTEL GARAGE APPLYING BRAKES THE BRAKE WENT TO FLOOR HITTING WALL AS I PUT GEAR TO NEUTRAL AND THEN INTO PARK BUT IT HAD ALREADY HIT THE WALL.
AFTER IGNITION STARTED AND PLACED IN REVERSE THE CAR WOULD THEN SHUT OFF WHILE IN REVERES. IT WOULD ALSO SHUT OFF WHILE IN DRIVE. BUT ONLY WHILE FIRST TAKING OFF. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ON REGULAR ROADS AND IN PARKING LOTS. FUEL TANK FULL
FOR THE PAST 12 MONTHS STARTING IN JULY 2017, I'VE HAD TO BRING IT BACK 5 TIMES (LAST WEEK WAS #5) TO THE DEALER DUE TO FLOODING INSIDE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. TWICE I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE BODY JOINT SEAL (BULLETIN PI1090A), TWICE I WAS TOLD MY SUNROOF DRAINS WERE CLOGGED AND ONCE WAS BECAUSE THE MECHANIC DIDN'T ALIGN MY SUNROOF BACK CORRECTLY.
ONSTAR BRACKET DOES NOT STAY TIGHT CAUSING A RATTLING IN FRONT OF VEHICLE, WHEN GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED (VEHICLE MOVING)
THE CAR CONSUMES MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL, LIKE THE PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. NO WARNING IS GIVEN THAT THE VEHICLE RUNS OUT OF OIL CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE PISTONS, TIMING CHAINS AND ENGINE. GM DROPPED THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO 60 K KNOWING THAT THESE VEHICLES HAVE HAD THIS ISSUES SINCE 2011- TO CURRENT. THE FAILURE HAPPENS AT 58-60 K MILES MAKING IT THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THIS ENORMOUS REPAIR. IN TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE YET NO ONE HAS INFORMED THE OWNERS THAT OIL CONSUMPTION ON A BRAND NEW CAR WOULD NEED TO BE MONITORED OR THAT NO ENGINE LIGHT WOULD BE TRIGGERED. LEAVING THE CUSTOMER WITH A CAR WITH LESS OF A POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY AND THE FULL COST OF THE REPAIR. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THAT THEY COULD DO A COST ASSISTANCE BUT WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR, BECAUSE MY MILEAGE IS JUST OUTSIDE THE 60K MARK. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. MY COWORKER HAS THE SAME VEHICLE AND BECAUSE HIS CAR FAILED AT 58 K IT WAS PAID FOR. GM KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING IN LOWERING THE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY ON THIS CAR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER AND GM NEEDS TO REPAIR THESE VEHICLES THEY KNOW ARE DEFECTIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO NEUTRAL AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT 80 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
I PARKED THE CAR ON MY DRIVE WAY I DID NOT TURN IT OFF I RETURN TO THE CAR TO TURN IT OFF IT ROLL BACK I HAD THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPEN IT NOCKED ME DOWN AND THE ROLLED OVER MY RIGHT KNEE IT WAS IS IN PARK IT AND MY IT SELF WENT IN TO NEUTRAL THE DRIVES SIDE TIRE WAS ON MY RIGHT KNEE
THE EQUINOX WENT FROM PARK TO REVERSE WHILE RUNNING THEN WENT INTO THE DITCH
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN THE RIGHT HAND POSITION. TO AVOID A CRASH, I QUICKLY TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT. THIS OCCURRED TWO TIMES PRIOR , DURING THE COURSE OF A YEAR OF OWNING THE CAR. WHEN IT OCCURRED THE FIRST TIME, I JUST ASSUMED I SLIPPED ON A PIECE OF ICE THAT WAS LEFT OVER FROM A STORM. HOWEVER, ON THE THIRD TIME, AS I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, MY KEY CHAIN BROKE OFF FROM THE KEY FOB AND THE REMAINDER OF KEYS ON THE KEY CHAIN. (I HAD MULTIPLE KEY RINGS, SHOPPING REWARD FOBS, ETC ON KEYCHAIN). WHAT WAS LEFT WAS A SMALL PORTION OF THE KEY LEFT STUCK INSIDE THE IGNITION. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. IT WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (CAR RUNNING) AND I WAS TOLD THAT A SET OF PLYERS HAD TO BE USED TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION.
MY BACK WINDOW SHATTERED THIS MORNING, AFTER STARTING CAR. CAR WAS SITTING IN GARAGE.
THIS SAFETY PROBLEM COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I AM 5'4'' AND SIT UPRIGHT WITH THE CORRECT DISTANCE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND PEDALS. WHEN DRIVING OR SITTING THE FRONT VIEW TOWARDS THE RIGHT AND SOMEWHAT ALSO WHEN LOOKING LEFT, IS OBSTRUCTED BY THE SIDE MIRRORS. LOOKING TO THE SIDES TOWARDS EACH SIDE'S MIRROR (NOT INTO THE MIRROR BUT TO SEE CROSS TRAFFIC WHEN CROSSING AN INTERSECTION OR TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT) THE VIEW OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR PEDESTRIANS IS IN A BLIND SPOT. THE VIEW IS BLOCKED BY THE SIDE MIRROR AND THE ARM OF THE MIRROR ATTACHING THE MIRROR TO THE CAR. ALSO THE WIDENESS OF THE FRAME OF THE FRONT WINDOW ON EACH SIDE TO ACCOMMODATE THE AIRBAG CONTRIBUTES TO THE BLOCKED VIEWING TOO. THIS HAS LED TO ME NEARLY HITTING SOMEONE CROSSING THE STREET AND NEARLY BEING T-BONED BY A CAR THAT WAS COMPLETELY INVISIBLE COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE FOR A FEW SECONDS UNTIL IT PASSED OUT OF THE BLOCKED AREA. I CALLED MY DEALER AND THERE ARE NO ALTERNATE SIDE MIRRORS TO PURCHASE OR ANY CAMERAS THAT THEY KNEW OF FOR THIS FRONT SIDE BLIND SPOT. (THIS IS NOT THE BLIND SPOT THAT CAMERAS ARE USED FOR THE SEE SLIGHTLY BEHIND THE DRIVER.)
I HAVE LIVED ON SHEADS MOUNTAIN RD FOR 3 YEARS NOW. IN THAT 3 YEARS WE HAVE HAD 9 FLAT TIRES AND ALL OF THEM HAVE HAD ROCKS IN THEM AND MOST OF THEM WE HAVE HAD TO GET NEW TIRES BECAUSE THIS ROAD IS SO BAD AND THEY COULD NOT PLUG OR PATCH THEM.MY HUSBAND WORKS FOR ESCAVATING COMPANY FOR 28 YEARS AND ISINCE WE HAVE LIVED HERE THEY HAVE NEVER GRADED THIS ROAD! I HAVE SENT SO MANY COMPLAINTS AND HAVE EVEN CALLED AND TALKED WITH VDOT AND HAVE NEVER GOTTEN ANYWHERE. I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2016 SUV WITH 13,000 MILES ON IT AND IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS HAVE HAD TO GET 2 BRAND NEW TIRES. I FILED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A CLAIM ALREADY BUT IT WAS JUST A ROAD COMPLAINT AND GOT A CALL FROM MIKE BAILY AND WHEN I WENT INTO DETAIL ABOUT MY COMPLAINT AND THAT I WAS GETTING A LAWYER AND I WAS TIRED OF THESE ROAD CONDITIONS THE VERY NEXT DAY THEY CAME OUT AND ACTUALLY GRADED THE ROAD INSTEAD OF JUST THROWING STONE DOWN ON ITT LIKE THEY USUALLY DO. THE WASHBOARDS WERE SO BAD YOU LITERALLY HAD TO DRIVE 5 MPH AND STILL YOU ABOUT WENT INTO THE DITCH WHICH IS DANGEROUS IN ITSELF BECAUSE THE DITCH LINE WAS SO DEEP. I AM SUBMITTING A CLAIM FOR BOTH OF MY TIRES AND I HAVE A PICTURE OF ONE OF THEM WITH THE ROCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN DUSK OR DAWN, THE HEADLAMP BEAMS WERE TOO DIM TO PROJECT A VISIBLE LIGHT TO SAFELY OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLAMPS OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION!! WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH WITHOUT THE CRUISE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WAS UNDER FULL ACCELERATION. MY WIFE IMMEDIATELY ASKED "WHAT IS HAPPENING". MY FIRST REACTION WAS TO APPLY THE BRAKE WHICH CAUSED THE ACCELERATION TO CEASE. I THEN CALLED ONSTAR TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THEY RESPONDED THAT MY TIRE PRESSURES ARE OK AND NO CODES WERE DETECTED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY CHECKED FOR CODES, DROVE IT , INSPECTED AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THERE WAS "NO TROUBLE FOUND". THIS CAR HAD LESS THAN 900 MILES WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. I AM A FORMER FINAL ASSEMBLY ELECTRONICS TEST ENGINEER FOR DELPHI AND KNOW HOW SOFTWARE PROBLEMS CAN BE DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE. I KNOW WHAT I EXPERIENCED AND FOR GM TO IGNORE THIS SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE A SERVICE TECH DID NOT RECOVER A TROUBLE CODE OR BE ABLE TO REPEAT THE PROBLEM IN A 45 MILE TEST DRIVE SIMPLY INFURIATES ME. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO ACCELERATE WHILE WAITING FOR A LIGHT TO CHANGE AT A BUSY INTERSECTION? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUNROOF GLASS FRACTURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.
ON OCTOBER 1, MY MOTHER (PASSENGER) AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A ROLL BACK ACCIDENT AT MY APARTMENT COMPLEX. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. I REMAINED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE FOR 1-2 MINUTES. I RETURNED TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE, OPENED THE DOOR, AND PROCEEDED TO ENTER THE CABIN. UPON OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACK, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS IN PARK. I WAS CAUGHT BETWEEN THE VEHICLE DOOR, WITH HALF OF MY BODY/EXTREMITIES (THE RIGHT SIDE) IN THE CABIN, AND MY LEFT EXTREMITIES OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRAGGED 10-15 FEET. MY MOTHER WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WITH HER WITH SAFETY BELT. THE VEHICLE HIT AN EMBANKMENT (WITH A 6-7 FOOT DROP) THAT LEADS TO A GAZEBO THAT COVERS OUR MAILING CENTER. THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE WOODEN FENCING AND THE ROOF AND COLUMNS OF THE GAZEBO. THE FRONT END WAS STUCK IN THE EMBANKMENT; THE REAR END CRASHED INTO THE ROOF, BUT WAS SUSPENDED ABOVE A 6-7 FOOT DROP. POLICE AND FIREMEN ASSESSED THE SITUATION, AND SUSPECTED THAT THE INCIDENT MAY HAVE HAPPENED AS A RESULT OF A MALFUNCTIONING TRANSMISSION AND/OR BREAK SYSTEM. NO FAULT WAS DETERMINED IN THE INCIDENT.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that his vehicle had been involved in two accidents and that the airbags failed to deploy as needed in both accidents. In the first accident, the contact stated that while driving at a low rate of speed, a tree had fallen right in front of his vehicle. The contact was not able to stop the vehicle in time which caused him to run over the tree. The contact stated that the airbags did not deploy. The contact did not suffer any injuries and a police report was not filed. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they repaired the damage to the vehicle. The second failure occurred while the contact was at a stoplight and another vehicle on the opposite side of traffic had hit his vehicle's driver side at a high rate of speed. The air bags again did not deploy upon impact. The contact and his wife were both taken to the hospital where he was treated for whiplash to his neck and arms. After months of chronic pain, the contact also had back surgery. The contact's wife was treated for injuries to her left knee and stomach, as well as whiplash to her neck. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was towed to an independent body shop for repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FORWARD COLLISION ALERT SYSTEM WARNING DISPLAY FAILURE TO ILLUMINATE/ DETECT WHEN FOLLOWING TOO CLOSE TO FRONT VEHICLE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE TAILGATE ALERT ALLOWED HIM TO GET WITHIN LESS THAN TWO CAR LENGTHS BEFORE THE VISUAL WARNING APPEARED. THE DEALER STATED THE SYSTEM WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. *JB
CAR STARTED SMELLING HORRIBLE ANYTIME IT WAS RUNNING, WOULD MAKE ME AND MY KIDS PHYSICALLY SICK BREATHING THE AIR COMING INSIDE THE VEHICLE.MY DAUGHTER HAD PNEUMONIA 4 MONTHS AGO, AND MY HUSBAND HAD A SEVERE CASE OF PNEUMONIA 2 WEEKS AGO. NOT TO MENTION ALL THE RESPIRATORY RELATED PROBLEMS IN THE LAST YEAR THE ENTIRE FAMILY HAS BEEN HAVING. CHEVY WOULD NOT LOOK AT MY CAR, I CALLED MULTIPLKE TIMES TELLING THEM MY CAR IS SO FOUL SMELLING I CANT DRIVE IT ANYMORE AND ITS NOT A DEAD ANMIAL BECAUSE WE SEARCHED EVERY COMPARTMENT THERE IS....AND THEY SAID ITS A DEAD MOUSE OR ANIMAL AND THAT WARRANTY DOESNT COVER THAT SO ITS NOT THERE PROBLEM..AFTER OVER A WEEK OF ME CALLING AND HAVING MY HUSBAND (A CERTIFIED MECHANIC) CALLING THEM NON STOP, THEY AGREED TO LOOK AT IT..ITS NOT AN ANIMAL IT IS JUST ALOT OF MOLD THAT IS GROWING ALL OVER THE CARS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER SYSTEM! AND ALL THIS TIME ITS JUST BEEN FLOWING MOLD BACTERIA INTO MY VENTS! ITS SUMMER I USE A/C EVERYDAY IF I AM DRIVING.... WE'VE JUST BEEN BREATHING IT IN FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG...I BOUGHT THIS CAR 9 MONTHS AGO BRAND NEW AND NOW AFTER ONLY 16,000 MILES ITS A BREEDING GROUND FOR MOLD INSIDE MY HVAC UNIT? I WONT BE ABLE TO GET RID OF THAT SMELL, AND WHAT ABOUT MY SEATS OR CLOTHING OR DAMAGE THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE FROM THIS MOLD AND BACTERIA? THEY SAID GM WILL GIVE ME A RENTAL FOR 5 DAYS.....BUT PARTS WILL TAKE UP TO 4 TO EVEN COME IN BEFORE THEY WILL EVEN START FIXING THE "ISSUE". I'M WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE WITH A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX RENTED FROM ENTERPRISE IN HUNTINGTON STATION, NEW YORK. THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 12,022 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MPH IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. AS TRAFFIC SLOWED DOWN AHEAD OF ME I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I WAS IMMEDIATELY SHOCKED WITH DISBELIEF THAT MY VEHICLE SLIGHTLY IMPACTED WITH THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME INSTEAD OF STOPPING 5 OR 10 FEET BEFORE THAT VEHICLE. THE BRAKES DID NOT SEEM TO RESPOND OR FUNCTION EFFECTIVELY COMPARED TO ALL VEHICLES I'VE OWNED OR RENTED FOR OVER 50 YEARS. CONVINCED THAT THERE MUST BE AN UNDERLYING ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL PEP BOYS. THEIR INSPECTION REVEALED "BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR MORE THAN HALF EMPTY" (SEE 2 PAGE ATTACHMENT). I'M NOT SURE IF THERE WAS A SLOW LEAK IN THE LINE OR IF THE BRAKE FLUID HAD NOT BEEN FILLED SUFFICIENTLY. FROM MY 50 YEARS OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE I DON'T EVER RECALL A NEW CAR REQUIRING THE ADDITION OF BRAKE FLUID AFTER ONLY 12,022 MILE OF USAGE. I AM HOWEVER FIRMLY CONVINCED THAT THIS UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IF THE RENTAL VEHICLE HAD CONTAINED THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF BRAKE FLUID. I FELT OBLIGATED TO REPORT THIS POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE TO YOU SO YOU CAN INVESTIGATE IF THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER REPORTED INSTANCES OF BRAKE FLUID LOSS RESULTING IN INEFFECTUAL BRAKING AND SUBSEQUENT ACCIDENTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. WHILE AT A STOP, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SURGED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE ELECTRONIC SEAT FUNCTION WAS DEACTIVATED, THE SEATS CONTINUED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN FOUR TIMES, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, MOVING SLOWLY IN A TRAFFIC JAM ON A FREEWAY, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TOTALLY WENT OUT. THE RADIO CONTINUED TO WORK, BUT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE ABOUT 20 MILES WITH THE CLUSTER AND SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING. AFTER ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I RESTARTED IT AND SAW THAT THE CLUSTER WAS VERY DIM AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS ONLY BARELY READABLE. AS I DROVE IT, THE BRIGHTNESS SLOWLY INCREASED. THE NEXT MORNING, THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE REST OF THE CLUSTER SEEMED TO BE NORMAL. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR WAS WORKING NORMALLY AT THAT TIME.
AFTER A MONTH OF OWNERSHIP AND ABOUT 900 MILES MY NEW EQUINOX WITH V6 AND AWD DEVELOPED A HOWLING NOISE WHEN DRIVING ON RURAL ROADS AT ABOUT 30-40 MPH THE HOWLING STAYS WITH THE CAR AND CAN BE HEARD ON HIGHWAYS AT 60 MPH. THE CAR HAS ALSO DEVELOPED A WHINING NOISE BOTH OF WHICH GENERAL MOTORS CLAIM ARE NORMAL NOISES FOR THIS VEHICLE. GM CALLS THIS CONDITION "DRIVELINE ECHO". TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE GMC TERRAIN AN IDENTICAL VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I PERSONALLY HAD A 2013 WITH NO PROBLEMS AND A FRIEND HAD A 2014 WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT APPEARS THE PROBLEM HAS STARTED WITH THE 2015 MODEL YEAR. GM ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM WHY CAN'T THEY BE MADE TO REPAIR IT? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY, THE SUNLIGHT CREATED A GLARE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT MADE IT DIFFICULT TO VIEW THE DISPLAY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX, MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR 17" P225/65R17 100T LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A MAJOR BLOWOUT ON THE EXTERIOR SIDEWALL AFTER BEING DRIVEN LESS THAN 500 MILES -- TOTAL. ALL TIRES WERE BRAND NEW, PROPERLY INFLATED AND MAINTAINED. NO NAIL OR OBVIOUS PUNCTURE POINT WAS FOUND. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN 55 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE IN CLEAR WEATHER. TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 70 DEGREES. BLOWOUT OCCURRED DURING 10-MINUTE DRIVE OVER SMOOTH, PAVED ROAD. IMMEDIATELY BEFORE BLOWOUT, WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH ABOUT LOW TIRE PRESSURE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED FOR FREE.
EXHAUST FUMES LEAKING INTO DRIVER CABIN, HORRIBLE TOXIC ODOR, FAMILY GOT SICK FROM BEING INSIDE OF VEHICLE. STATIONARY, OR IN MOTION. TOXIC ODORS AND SAME HEALTH EFFECTS WHEN NOT RUNNING. ODER ON CLOTHING, HAIR, SKIN. IMMEDIATE ADVERSE HEALTH SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH BEING IN VEHICLE ARE HEADACHE, CHEMICAL TASTE IN MOUTH, SORE THROAT. I NOTICED CONDITION 1/22/2016 BUT IT WAS PRESENT PRIOR TO THIS AS I DO NOT USE VEHICLE OFTEN. MY WIFE AND YOUNGEST DAUGHTER HAD MOST EXPOSURE AND IT BUILT UP OVER TIME, FOR THEY WERE DESENSITIZED TO THE ODOR. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF NOT USING VEHICLE MY WIFE DID SMELL THE TOXIC ODOR. AN EXHAUST LEAK WAS THE CAUSE AND VERIFIED BY DEALER. AFTER REPAIRS WERE MADE VEHICLE STILL HAS HORRIFIC ODOR AND THE SAME ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS WERE EXPERIENCED. OTHER PEOPLE WHO WERE EXPOSED TO VEHICLE ALSO EXPERIENCED SAME HEALTH SYMPTOMS.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR WILL NOT ACTIVATE SAFETY SYSTEM WHEN I, AS A 120 LB ADULT,PLACE A MEDICALLY NECESSARY CUSHION (TO ALLEVIATE BACK AND HIP PAIN) BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE SEAT, THUS CANCELLING OUT THE BENEFITS OF THIS SAFETY SYSTEM WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. I AM AT RISK WHEN RIDING IN THIS GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLE. PLEASE REQUIRE GM TO RECALL AND CORRECT THIS DEFECT SOONEST AND ASSOCIATE MY COMPLAINT WITH ALL OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON FILE WITH YOUR AGENCY.
