TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE INDEPENDENTLY. THERE WAS A STRONG BURNING ODOR AND THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE ENGINE OIL PAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
2006 CHEVROLET HHR LS. CONSUMER STATES THAT VEHICLE HAS WORN STRUTS WHICH NEEDED TO REPLACED AFTER ONLY 33,000 MILES AND DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE AND UNWILLING TO ASSIST WITH DEFECT *TGW
I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR, TODAY WHEN I PARKED MY CAR THE DRIVERS INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE AND I COULDN'T OPEN MY DOOR. I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE SEARCHED FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. NONE TO BE FOUND. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL AT A HEFTY PRICE. MY CONCERN TO THIS MATTER IS THE FACT IF YOU GET IN AN ACCIDENT OR THERE IS A FIRE AND THE DOOR HANDLE BREAKS YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CAR. THEREFORE I FEEL STRONGLY THIS IS A DEFECT ON THE PART OF GM SINCE THE HANDLE IS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC AND CAN'T TAKE THE STRESS OF CONTINUOUS OPENING. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND I FIND IT NECESSARY TO REPORT THIS MATTER. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM IF SOMEONE IS TRAPPED IN THE CAR AND CAN'T GET OUT. *TR
CHEVY HHR 2006 DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF IN HAND DURING NORMAL USE. MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC. AUTO MAKER STATES THAT THE ONLY WAY TO REPAIR IS TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THE DOOR AND PAY. ALL OF THIS FOR A PIECE OF PLASTIC WHICH SHOULD COST PENNIES TO REPLACE? I SUFFER FROM NECK PAIN AND HAVE TROUBLE ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN TO REACH OUT AND OPEN THE DOOR. THEY HAVE TO FIX THIS AT THEIR COST. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NO FAULT OF THE OWNERS AND ONLY DUE TO FAULTY (PLASTIC) EQUIPMENT THEY ARE USING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH IN REVERSE, THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING INDICATOR. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME IN DRIVE WITH PRESSURE APPLIED FORCEFULLY TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE ENGINE WAS OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
CHEVY HHR INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BREAK OFF EASY AND WITHOUT WARNING. NO IMPROVED HANDLE IS OFFERED. THIS WOULD MAKE IT HARD TO GET OUT OF THE CAR IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. BEING EXCITED YOU MAY PULL ON THE DOOR HANDLE A LITTLE HARDER. IF THERE IS A STRESS FRACTURE IN THE HANDLE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE IT. *TR
MY '06 CHEVY HHR WAS RUNNING FINE FOR 4 YEARS AND THEN 3 WEEKS AGO THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STOPPED AND STARTED COASTING WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT. AFTER THAT INCIDENT, IT HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY EVERY OTHER DAY AND NOW WE CAN'T DRIVE IT A FEW MILES WITHOUT IT SHUTTING DOWN SEVERAL TIMES. IT ALWAYS STARTS RIGHT BACK UP BUT IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS B/C IT HAPPENED WHILE MY HUSBAND IS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. WE ARE AT THE POINT WHERE WE DON'T DRIVE IT OUTSIDE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND WE'RE GOING TO SEE ABOUT GETTING A NEW VEHICLE. I SAW ONLINE WHERE PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM GOING TO THE DEALER NEXT WEEK TO HAVE IT CHECKED BY THEM BUT I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS IF IT IS A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE BUTTON ON THE SHIFT LEVER ON THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OF MY 2006 CHEVY HHR STICKS IN THE IN POSITION ALLOWING THE TRANSMISSION TO BE SHIFTED INTO ANY GEAR INCLUDING PARK AND REVERSE AS I AM DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT RECURS FROM TIME TO TIME, VERY UNPREDICTABLE. AT THIS TIME I HAVE NOT FIXED IT BECAUSE I WAS DEBATING TRADING THE CAR IN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65-70 MPH MY POWER STEERING SHUT OFF. THE DASH BOARD DINGED 3 TIMES, GOT A MESSAGE ABOUT THE POWER STEERING AND THE NEEDLES ON THE MPH AND RPMS WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE SHIFTER IS ON THE FLOOR AND WILL MAKE A CLICKING NOISE LIKE IT'S TRYING TO FIND A GEAR OR SOMETHING. THAT HAPPENED ON 7/31/10 AND HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES SINCE. THIS SITUATION CAN HAPPEN AT SPEEDS. CAR WILL ALSO BUCK/JERK HARD WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE GIVEN UP DRIVING THE CAR AS ITS NOT SAFE. I HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT FIXED YET SINCE I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS PROBLEM RECALLED. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY HHR LT WITH JUST 30K. DROVE IT OFF THE LOT WITH 3 MILES AND AT 200 MILES IT HAD THE ROTORS TURNED FOR THE FIRST OF ABOUT 30 TIMES. THE STEERING WHEEL SHUDDERS WHEN BREAKING OR AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MPH SO MUCH SO THAT AT TIMES THE CAR IS HARD TO CONTROL. THE ANSWER TO THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IS..TURN THE ROTORS. "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR" THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME ANYMORE. MY CAR HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE SHOCKS,THE STRUTS, THE CONTINUED ROTOR PROBLEM, THE STEERING WHEEL THAT SHUDDERS, AND AS OF TODAY, THE POWER STEERING IS GOING AS WELL AS THE STEERING RACK. THE POTENTIAL OF ME KILLING MYSELF,MY CHILDREN, OR THE PERSON NEXT TO ME HAS BECOME A REALITY. I HAVE COMPLAINED SINCE PRACTICALLY DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT. GM JUST REFUSES TO PAY, OR DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE CEO OF GM AS WELL AS THE NORTH AMERICA PRESIDENT MARK REUSS I HAVE EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS WITH THE SAFETY OF THE HHR. AND I HAVE SAID THAT THE ANSWER IS NOT TO "JUST TURN THE ROTORS FOR THE 35TH TIME". THERE IS SOMETHING VERY WRONG WITH THIS CAR, AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH EVERYONE THAT DRIVES ONE HAS THE SAME POWER STEERING,ROTOR,AT THE SHUDDER OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE PLUNKED NEARLY 2K INTO A CAR THAT GM NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. AN URGENT RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED OR I SEE THE POTENTIAL OF A TOYOTA PROBLEM ON THE HORIZON FOR GM AND THEIR CHEVY HHR. I REALLY BELIEVE IT IS GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE OR MAYBE MANY TO BE INJURED OR WORSE YET DEAD BEFORE GM WILL LOOK INTO THIS FURTHER. THE WORLD HEADQUARTERS TOLD ME YESTERDAY THAT THERE ARE NO OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE MINE AND I SHOULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I READ. THEY HAVE CLOSED MY CASE AND REFUSE TO LISTEN ANY LONGER. I KNOW THIS IS NOT MY DRIVING, I AM NOT HARD ON THE BRAKES, NOR HAVE I CAUSED THE ROTORS NEEDING TO BE TURNED SO MANY TIMES ON THE LATHE THAT THEY ARE LIKE PUTTING BICYCLE BRAKES ON A FREIGHT TRAIN. CAR IS A BIT TOO HEAVY TO STOP WHEN YOU HAVE ROTORS THAT ARE DANGEROUSLY THIN. *TR
AS FILED BY MANY OTHER OWNERS OF A CHEVY HHR, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES. THEY ARE MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC AND MINE BROKE AS WELL. I CAN'T BELIEVE A US COMPANY SUCH AS GM WOULD MAKE A CHEAP PART THAT COULD END UP ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF ITS CUSTOMERS. IF YOU WERE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT OR NEED TO EXIT THE CAR IN ANY EMERGENCY SITUATION, THIS COULD COST YOUR LIFE. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THESE CARS AND DO THE RIGHT THING. REPLACE THEM WITH A MORE DURABLE HANDLE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. OR WILL THEY WAIT UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS BEFORE THEY TAKE ACTION? *TR
MY HHR DRIVER'S INTERIOR HANDLE BROKE OFF A FEW WEEKS AGO. I FEEL THAT GM NEEDS TO RECALL 2006 HHR CARS AND REPLACE THE DOOR HANDLE. I DO NOT HAVE $400.00 TO GIVE THE DEALERSHIP. A MONTH AGO I JUST PAID FOR KEY IGNITION SWITCH TO BE FIXED FOR $400.00. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK, THE KEY WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD POSSIBLY ROLL AWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED BECAUSE THE COMPUTER WOULD NOT REGISTER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING, TURNING THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON TEMPORARILY FIXES THE ISSUE. SOUNDS SIMILAR TO RECALL ON SAME YEAR COBALT. *TR
2006 HHR LS - DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF WITH NORMAL OPENING OF THE DOOR. COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT PUTTING WINDOW DOWN AND USING THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. IF THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY - I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE CAR. *TR POWER STEERING FAILURE - POWER STEERING QUITS WHILE DRIVING - WAS GOING 55 MPH. AND THE POWER STEERING JUST WENT OFF.. PULLED TO THE SIDE WITH DIFFICULTY - SHUT THE CAR OFF. RESTARTED CAR - AND THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKEN. DOOR MUST BE OPENED USING OUTSIDE HANDLE. HANDLE IS PLASTIC. ENTIRE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL MUST BE REPLACED. PART COSTS $400.00 PLUS LABOR - REPLACEMENT HANDLE IS PLASTIC ALSO. CAR IS 2006 CHEVROLET HHR WITH 53,000 MILES. *TR
MY INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON MY 2006 CHEVY HHR BROKE OFF IN MY HAND WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR. I LOOKED UP ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND SURE ENOUGH..PAGES AND PAGES OF THE SAME STORY. I CALLED TO GET A REPLACEMENT HANDLE AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $300 FOR THE ENTIRE DOOR KIT. I DON'T WANT AN ENTIRE DOOR, BUT EVIDENTLY GM DESIGNED THE HANDLE TO BE AN INTEGRATED PART OF THE DOOR TRIM. THEN I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS HAPPENING EVER BEFORE. I FIND THIS TO BE A TOTAL LIE SINCE I JUST READ OF A WOMAN WHO CALLED GM TO COMPLAIN AND THEY TOLD HER THE EXACT SAME THING "WE'VE NEVER HAD A SINGLE COMPLAINT". I CANNOT OPEN MY CAR DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. IF I WERE IN A WRECK OR IF THE BATTERY DIED I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF MY CAR, AS I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW, REACH OUT AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. I'M VERY UPSET BY THIS ENTIRE SITUATION. I LOVE MY CAR, BUT WHOEVER DECIDED A PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE WAS A GOOD IDEA AND THEN TO INTEGRATE IT SO YOU HAD TO BUY AN ENTIRE DOOR PACKAGE TO REPLACE IT...NEEDS A SWIFT KICK IN THE BEHIND. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND IT IS VERY UNSAFE. *TR
2006 CHEVY HHR. GEAR SHIFT CONTROL PIN FALLS OUT OF PLASTIC RETAINMENT PIECE RESULTING IN GEAR SHIFT BUTTON STICKING IN THE INWARD POSITION AND THE KEY REMAINING LOCKED IN STEERING COLUMN. DUE TO A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING, THE PLASTIC CRACKS AROUND THE PIN RETAINMENT HOLE. THE CONTROL PIN THEN BECOMES LOOSE, THUS RESULTING IN THE CONTROL PIN EITHER MOVING OUT OF IT'S INTENDED POSITION AND JAMMING THE GEAR SELECTOR, OR FALLING OUT COMPLETELY AND ALLOWING THE GEAR SELECTOR TO MOVE IN ANY GEAR AT ANY TIME, WEATHER THE CAR IS RUNNING OR SHUT OFF. ONCE CONTROL PIN MOVES OUT OF POSITION OR FALLS OUT, THE MICRO SWITCH CANNOT BE ACTIVATED TO RELEASE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, THUS RESULTING IN A DEAD BATTERY VERY DANGEROUS. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT INSIST THERE IS NO T.S.B. OR RECALL. THEY COULD EASILY REPLACE THE PLASTIC RETAINMENT PART WITH THE NEWER VERSION USED IN LATER MODELS, BUT CLAIM THEY CAN'T GET IT. THERE REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF $150.00 PLUS LABOR. THE NEWER RETAINMENT PART CAN'T COST MORE THAN 15 DOLLARS,(NARROW PIECE OF PLASTIC ~ THE SIZE OF A PENCIL WITH A SMALL HOLE IN IT). THIS PART GOES FROM THE TOP OF THE SHIFTER TO THE BOTTOM OF THE GEAR SELECTOR AND HOLDS THE CONTROL PIN IN POSITION, WHICH IN TURN, ACTIVATES THE MICRO SWITCH TO RELEASE THE KEYS. WITH THE AMOUNT OF OCCURRENCES LISTED ONLINE SINCE 2006. THIS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE FROM GEAR TO GEAR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WOULD COME OUT OF THE IGNITION WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING LOCKED IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 43,000. UPDATED 10/27/10. *LJ

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS ELECTRICAL, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO LOCATE THE EXACT AREA WERE THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE ORIGINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
2006 CHEVY HHR, DRIVING THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ACROSS THE INFO SCREEN, THEN POWER STEERING WENT OUT. HAD TO PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF & RESTART, WORKED FINE FOR A COUPLE MILES THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, & NOW IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. *TR
2006 CHEVY HHR POWER STEERING FAILURE. LOST POWER STEERING IN A SHARP CURVE. IMMEDIATE AND WITH NO ADVANCED WARNING. FORCED TO SHOULDER AND ALMOST INTO A DITCH. THE WARNING MESSAGE AND CHIME WORKED BUT THAT DOESN'T HELP YOU CONTROL THE VEHICLE!! FORTUNATELY I WAS DRIVING THIS TIME. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING THERE IS NO WAY WITH HER LIMITED STRENGTH THAT WE WOULD HAVE MADE IT AROUND THE CURVE. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR HHRS AND CHEVY COBALTS. THEY BOTH USE THE SAME FAULTY POWER STEERING MOTOR. CHEVY HAS ISSUED A RECALL ONTHE COBALTS. KEY DOES NOT COME OUT IGNITION, HAVE TO PUSH SAFETY BUTTON UNDER STEERING WHEEL TO RELEASE KEYS
2006 CHEVROLET HHR: CANNOT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION IN PARK. HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES IN LAST WEEK. FINALLY YESTERDAY I HAD TO LEAVE KEY IN IGNITION AT WORK. CAME BACK LATER TO REMOVE - BATTERY WAS DEAD. JUMPING BATTERY STUMP UNDER HOOD WAS OF NO USE - COULD NOT OPEN REAR HATCH TO GET TO BATTERY. HAD IT TOWED FOR REPAIR. ANALYSIS, BATTERY AND LABOR COST ME $200 AS THE GM PROTECTION PLAN I PAY FOR EVERY MONTH WOULD NOT COVER THE PROBLEM. ALSO ASKED SERVICE REP TO LOOK INTO WHY SHIFTER MOVES WHILE DRIVING, THINKING THIS MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IGNITION AND BATTERY PROBLEMS. HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BE A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING. GM PROTECTION PLAN REP AND TOW TRUCK DRIVER BOTH SAID THIS HAPPENS A LOT ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *TR
TRAVELING ON 2 LANE ROAD AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 55 MPH. POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. ABILITY TO STEER VEHICLE GREATLY COMPROMISED. THIS WAS THE SECOND FAILURE OF POWER STEERING. FIRST FAILURE DUE TO BLOWN FUSE. THIS FAILURE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILED. POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED. *TR
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE OF MY 2006 CHEVROLET HHR BROKE OFF DURING NORMAL USE. IT'S MADE FROM A CHEAP PLASTIC. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AS A PERSON CANNOT QUICKLY EXIT THE CAR IF THIS HAPPENS. IF MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR JUST BROKE, HOW SOON BEFORE THE OTHER THREE IN THE CAR BREAK OFF FROM NORMAL OPERATION. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO PAY $400-$450 TO REPLACE A $10 PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE THAT THEY POORLY DESIGNED. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM GM TO REPLACE THESE CHEAP HANDLES BEFORE SOMEONE DOES HAVE A SERIOUS SITUATION. *TR
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILURE: THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY HAVE RECALLED CHEVROLET COBALT AND MALIBU, ALONG WITH PONTIAC G5. THE SAME PART IS USED IN THE CHEVROLET HHR, WHICH SHARES THE SAME PLATFORM AND MANY COMMON PARTS WITH THE COBALT AND G5. IF MY BATTERY DIES I CAN NOT GET IN THE CAR NO MATTER WHAT. MY CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH ONE LOCK ON THE DRIVER SIDE. BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS DEAD THE CAR WILL NOT ENGAGE THE ACTUATOR ON THE LOCK EVEN WITH KEY ENTRY. I HAVE TO CALL A LOCKSMITH TO GET IN THE CAR. I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 HHR THAT HAS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) WHICH FAILED FOR NO APPARENT REASON ON 4-18-2010. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THIS OTHER THAN I WAS JUST GOING ABOUT 1MILE FROM WORK TO HOME. THERE WERE NO CRASHES OR INJURIES AS A RESULT. ON LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM I FOUND THAT GM HAS A RECALL ON OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAS THE IDENTICAL ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING BUT THE HHR IS NOT ONE OF THEM ON THE RECALL LIST.. I DID FIND THE 60AMP FUSE BLOWN THAT PROTECTS THIS SYSTEM FROM OVERLOAD CONDITIONS. THERE WERE NO HARD TURNS AGAINST THE WHEEL STOPS EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT. THE FUSE JUST BLEW. I REPLACED THE FUSE JUST TODAY 4-19-2010 AND THUS FAR THE SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY. AS TO WHY THE FUSE BLEW IN THE FIRST PLACE WELL THAT'S THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION! *TR

SHE RAN INTO THE DITCH BUT NO DAMAGE WAS DONE THAT I CAN FIND. BOTH HER AND MY CHILDREN USE THIS CAR DAILY AND WITH ITS CURRENT PROBLEM, I DON'T FEEL IT'S SAFE DRIVE OR SALE. *TR
