MY 2006 HHR LOST POWER STEERING. THE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT TOOK ALL I HAD TO STEER IT. EVERYTIME I CUT IT ALL OFF AND CRANK IT BACK UP THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF AND I CAN DRIVE IT FOR ABOUT A MINUTE TO 5 MINUTES USUALLY IN THE LIGHT SAYING POWER STEERING WILL COME ON AND THE STEERING ISSUE WILL OCCUR AGAIN. I LOVE MY HHR AND THIS IS MY FIRST CHEVROLET PRODUCT BUT I REALLY THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT AFTER MUCH MUCH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THE HHR AS WELL AS OTHER CHEVROLET VEHICLES HAVE HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME EXACT COMPLAINT. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEY WOULD LOSE ALL POWER STEERING. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A COST THAT US WHO HAVE PURCHASED AND PUT OUR TRUST OF SAFETY INTO CHEVROLET TO HAVE TO BARE. THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN ACTUALLY LEAD TO VEHICLE FATALITIES DUE TO THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT. CHEVROLET SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS OF THE POWER STEERING DUE TO IT BEING A KNOWN FACT BASED ON VERY MUCH RESEARCH AND COMPLAINTS FROM SO MANY OWNERS. THIS FACT SHOWS AND PROVES THAT IT IS THE FAULT OF THE WAY THE CAR WAS DESIGNED OR BUILT OR FAULTY PARTS USED BY CHEVROLET/GM. PLEASE CONSIDER THE DANGER THAT THIS FAULT CAN CAUSE TO OWNERS AND DO A RECALL TO HAVE THESE ISSUES REPAIRED SO THAT IT DOESN'T END UP CAUSING MORE DAMAGE OR TAKING A LIFE BECAUSE SOMEONE LOSES CONTROL OF THERE CHEVROLET DUE TO FAULTY PARTS. EVERY COUPLE WEEKS WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, THERE WILL BE A DING SOUND WITH A MESSAGE INDICATING POWER STEERING FAILURE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND KEEP TURNING IT ON AND OFF. EVENTUALLY IT SEEMS TO RESET ITSELF AND WORK AGAIN. I CANNOT STEER IT AT ALL WHEN IT FAILS AND IS AT TIMES HARD TO GET OFF THE ROAD IN TIME BEFORE IT LOCKS UP. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE I HAVE TO DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY TO GET TO WORK.
I HAVE HAD A TERRIBLE TIME WITH THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2006 CHEVY HHR. SOMETIMES IT WORKS, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. THERE IS NO APPARENT CAUSE. THESE CHANGES FROM WORKING TO NOT WORKING AND BACK CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME AT ANY SPEED. FORTUNATELY I AM STRONG ENOUGH TO WRESTLE WITH IT AND STEER IT MANUALLY SO FAR. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM ABOUT IT BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR IT. THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND CHARGED ME OVER $300, BUT THAT DIDN'T DO ANY GOOD. ALSO TWICE A MESSAGE APPEARED ABOUT REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND THE ENGINE HAD ALMOST NO POWER TO GET UP HILLS. I WAS CREEPING ALONG AT ABOUT 10 MPH ON A SUPER HIGHWAY. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, TURNED IT ON AGAIN AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND THE ENGINE HAD NORMAL POWER AGAIN. ALSO THE DOOR LOCK LIGHT COMES ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHEN I'M DRIVING. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE PROBLEMS CAN'T BE DIAGNOSED UNLESS THEY SEE IT ACTING UP. OF COURSE IT DOESN'T DO THESE THINGS WHEN IT IS IN THE SHOP. I AM REALLY DISGUSTED.
FUEL SYSTEM RUSTED OUT !! FUEL LINES RUSTED CAUSING FUEL LEAKING FILLER TUBE RUSTED OUT FUEL SYSTEM FAILED ON MAJOR HIGHWAY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND GM REFUSE TO RECALL
THE CHEVY HHR WAS BUILT WITH STEEL FUEL LINES RUNNING FROM THE FUEL PUMP OUTSIDE THE FUEL TANK ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE TANK TO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHERE THEY TURN AND RUN JUST ABOVE THE EXHAUST PIPE. TO PREVENT HEAT BUILDUP THE FUEL LINES ARE WRAPPED WITH AN INSULATING TAPE OF SOME SORT. THIS TAPE LOOSENS OVER TIME AND ALLOWS WATER TO ACCUMULATE WITHIN THE WRAPPING OF THE FUEL LINES. THIS CAUSES THE FUEL LINES TO RUST TO THE POINT OF FAILURE WHEREIN THE FUEL THEN LEAKS OUT VERY NEAR OR ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND COULD RESULT IN THE INJURY OR DEATH OF ANY OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE OR EXPLOSION OF THE FUEL TANK. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THE HHR, CHEVROLET HAS YET TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WAS TOLD BY MY LOCAL DEALER THAT THE ENTIRE FUEL LINE SYSTEM FROM THE TANK TO THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $1000. I DISCOVERED THIS WHEN I PARKED MY HHR IN THE DRIVEWAY AND SMELLED FUEL. MY VEHICLE IS LEAKING FUEL AND IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I OWN 2 HHRS, A 2006 LS, AND A 2009 SS, AND AM NOW LOOKING AT A $2000 EXPENSE JUST TO MAKE THEM SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CHEVROLET, NOT EVERY OWNER OF A HHR.
THERE IS A FUEL LINE LEAK IN THE BACK BY THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE LEAKING HAS ALL OVER. RUSTED ALREADY. WAS IN TOWN WITH MY KIDS AND DAD AND HAD IT IDLED FOR AWHILE AND GOT OUT AND SMELLED HAS REALLY BAD. SURE ENOUGH A PUDDLE OF GAS ON THE PAVEMENT. DROVE IT STRAIGHT HOME. EVERYONE WAS SCARED DUE TO THE LEAK. VERY DANGEROUS.
ONCE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT THE CAR STILL RUNNING, ONCE YOU START IT THE ALARM STAYS ON FOR 3MIN
A CHIP HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR THE POWER STEERING TO WORK.ALSO THE DRIVER VISOR KEEPS FALLING DOWN AND BLOCKING MY VIEW WHEN DRIVING.
WE WAS GOING DOWN HE ROAD IT JUST SWITCHED OFF I COULDN'T TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND I HAD TO STAND ON THE BREAKES.I COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE OR MY SELF IF NOT WORSE AND I HIT A CURVE HARD.
GASOLINE GOES FAST, I HAVE TO FILL EVERY 4 DAYS. SOMETIMES ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES AWAY AND SOMETIMES RUNNS SMOOTH AND SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE WANTS TO TURN OFF.
HARD BRAKES
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN OR ON FREEWAY THE POWER STEERING ALERT WILL COME ON THE DISPLAY READOUT AND THERE IS AN AUTOMATIC LOSS OF THE POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING COMES BACK AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF, BUT ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN REPEATS THE LOSS. IT HAS BEEN DOING THAT EVERY DAY SINCE 12/05/2017.
ELECTRIC STEERING MOTOR STOPS WORKING AFTER 3 -5 MINUTES OF DRIVING, AND REMAINS INOPERABLE FOR DURATION OF THE DRIVE. WILL RESTART AFTER IGNITION IS CYCLED, THEN WILL REPEAT THIS SCENARIO, THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THIS WILL OCCUR AND IS VERY HARD TO TURN,MAKING FOR SOME VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS
THE POWER STEERING KEEPS "CLICKING OFF" SEEMS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE BUT THERE ARE NO FUSES BLOWN. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF THE POWER STEERING WILL RESET BUT AS SOON AS I TURN IT BACK ON THE POWER STEERING WILL TURN OFF AGAIN. IT QUIT FOR AWHILE BUT NOW ITS BACK IN FULL FORCE. I BASICALLY HAVE NO POWER STEERING NOW.
FUEL LINE LEAK BY LEFT REAR TIRE WHICH ALSO IS NEXT TO THE TAILPIPE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE LINE SITS IN A POOL OF WATER THAT FORMS ON THE FRAME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,210.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT WAS A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AND WENT TO SUNSET CHEVROLET (910 TRAFFIC AVE, SUMNER, WA 98390) WHERE HE RECEIVED MECHANICAL ADVISE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
BOTH THE FUEL LINE (TANK TO ENGINE COMPARTMENT) AND THE RETURN LINE (PART OF THE EGR SYSTEM) HAVE RUSTED AND ARE LEAKING FUEL. THE RUST ON BOTH LINES EXTENDS FROM JUST IN FRONT OF THE REAR WHEEL (ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE) TO WITHIN ABOUT 6 INCHES OF THE FUEL TANK. THE LINES LEAK WHEN PRESSURIZED, I.E., WHEN FUEL IS PUSHED THROUGH THEM BY THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP, AND THEY SEEP GASOLINE AFTER THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. THE SMELL OF GASOLINE PERMEATES THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHEN STOPPED, AND THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, AS AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL. THE VEHICLE LEAVES A THIN PUDDLE OF FUEL, ABOUT 6" IN DIAMETER, BENEATH THE CAR WHEN PARKED. THE LEAK IS QUITE NEAR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, AS WELL. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 152,800 MILES. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, HAVING PURCHASED IT FROM ROBINSON CHEVROLET, IN WHEELING, WV ON JULY 1, 2007. I AM VERY RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE CAR, BECAUSE OF THE FIRE HAZARD THAT IT PRESENTS. FORTUNATELY, MY WIFE AND I HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WE CAN SHARE, AT LEAST UNTIL THE FUEL LEAKAGE SITUATION IS RESOLVED ON THE HHR. I DID NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PHOTOGRAPH THE RUSTED LINES WHILE THE CAR WAS ON A LIFT, BUT I DID SHOOT A PHOTO OF THE LINES WITH MY MOBILE PHONE. THE PHOTO IS OF THE AREA JUST FORWARD OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL. (SEE UPLOADED PHOTO.) IT'S NOT THE BEST IMAGE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT IT IS THE BEST THAT I COULD DO WITH THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT RANDOMLY WHEN DRIVING, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ALSO MENTIONS SOMETHING ABOUT THE POWER STEERING AS WELL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND CAN BE DANGEROUS FOR ELDERLY FOLKS. YOU HAVE TO STOP AND RESTART YOUR CAR TO GET YOUR POWER STEERING WORKING AGAIN SO IT HAS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,900.
POWER STEERING CONSTANTLY GOES WHILE DRIVING. THERE WILL BE A DING AND IT WILL JUST CUT OUT... WHY DOESN'T THIS HAVE AN RECALL ON IT????? ITS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS. TOOK IT TO DEALER IT WILL COST OVER 500 TO FIX. I CAN BARELY DRIVING IT A BLOCK WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT. IT STARTS 4 MINS AFTER DRIVING CAR... PLEASE HELP AND FIX!!! THIS IS DANGEROUS.
LEAKING FUEL LINE. MANY MANY HHR HAVE THIS
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WE HAD A HANDFUL OF TIMES WHERE THE LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER. WE WERE TOLD WE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT/BLINKER SWITCH AS IT WAS FAULTY DUE TO THIS VEHICLE HAVING THE "LIGHTS- AUTO ON/OFF" SWITCH LOCATED ON THIS. WE DID, IT DIDN'T FIX IT. WE WERE TOLD LOOSE HEADLIGHT BULBS. REPLACED, STILL HAPPENS. ONLY NOW, WE HAVE ZERO DIM LIGHTS BUT ONLY HEADLIGHTS IF WE TURN ON HIGHBEAMS (BRIGHTS). STILL, WE GET THE FLICKERING HEADLIGHTS, THIS DOESN'T EFFECT THE BLINKER LIGHTS, YELLOW RUNNING LIGHTS OR SEEM TO EFFECT THE BRAKE LIGHTS. PART OF THE AUTO LIGHTS DEAL IS WHEN IT'S DARK, IT WILL DIM THE DASH LIGHTS SO THEY AREN'T INTRUSIVE TO YOUR DRIVING, BUT IF IT'S BROAD DAYLIGHT, THEY WILL BRIGHTEN SO YOUR ABLE TO SEE THEM. I'LL START THE VEHICLE, AND THE DASH WILL BE COMPLETELY DIM, SO DIM YOU CAN BARELY SEE IT. AFTER DRIVING A GOOD LENGTH OF TIME (AT LEAST 30 MINUTES!) THEY'LL FLASH BETWEEN BRIGHT AND DIM, DAYLIGHT OR DARK THIS HAPPENS. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS GO COMPLETELY OUT. THEY CLAIM ALL FUSES ARE FINE AND WORDING HARNESS IS FINE BUT, OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT. I HAVE BEEN READING SOME FORUMS IN THE CHEVYHHR.NET AND I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS CAUSED SOMEONE TO NEARLY HIT ME HEAD ON AS I WAS TRYING TO MOVE OFF THE ROAD DUE TO MY HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT, AND THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A VEHICLE, AND HAD TO MOVE TO MY LANE TO DO SO! I HAVE CHILDREN, AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES END WHEN THE SUN IS GOING DOWN/IT'S DARK OUT SO TO TRAVEL HOME, THE SUN IS OFF THE HORIZON AND IT'S PITCH BLACK OUT. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO CAUSE MY BATTERY TO DRAIN, AND NEED A JUMP DAILY. I WAS TOLD MY BATTERY NEEDED REPLACED, DID THAT STILL NO FIX, TOLD IT WAS MY ALTERNATOR, STILL ISN'T FIXED. THAN I WAS TOLD I MUST BE LEAVING INTERNAL LIGHTS ON WHEN EXITING THE CAR. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS VERY UNSAFE!
THE SHIFT LEVER SHOWS THE VEHICLE IN PARK BUT THE ACTUAL GEAR IS REVERSE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP HAS BECOME DISLODGED FROM ITS POSITION AND WILL NOT ENGAGE TO THE PROPER GEAR. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND IT WILL ALSO ROLL BACKWARDS WITHOUT ENGAGING THE PARKING BRAKE. IT WAS STATIONARY WHEN I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK IT BUT IT THEN ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN A HILL BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ENGAGING IN PARK AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE BEFORE I COULD APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE. THIS ISSUE IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS PART OF A RECALL 09V073000 FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE; HOWEVER IT DOESN'T INCLUDE MY YEAR OR VIN SO THE DEALERS ARE NOT TRYING TO REPAIR IT FOR ME WITHOUT COST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR EQUIPPED WITH KUMHO SOLUS TA71 TIRES, SIZE: 215/55/R16 97V (NA). WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE SUFFERED A BLOWOUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE TIRE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE, BUT NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, TOOK BACK THE TIRE, STATED THAT THE TIRE FAILED DUE TO AN IMPACT TO THE TIRE, AND OFFERED A PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE TIRE WAS A REPLACEMENT TIRE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 236,079 AND THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
VEHICLE LOSSES POWER STEERING SHORTLY AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE. CAR IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS. MUCH HARDER TO CONTROL CAUSING A SERIOUS HAZARD TO OPERATION.
WHEN DRIVING A CLICK CAN BE HEARD IN THE FOOTWELL OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. A CHIME AND DIC ALERT OCCURS. THE DIC DISPLAYS POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLES POWER STEERING SYSTEM STOPS WORKING. THIS MAKES THE CAR VERY HARD TO DRIVE AT ANY SPEED. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WORKS AS NORMAL FOR A PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE IT FAILS AGAIN. THIS ISSUE WAS RECALLED ON LATER MODEL YEAR VEHICLES OF THIS TYPE BUT THE 2006 MODEL WAS EXCLUDED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION DETAILS THAT THE 2006 MODEL AND NEWER CARS SHARE THE SAME POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE OR DANGEROUS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MOTOR.
MY 2006 CHEVROLET HHR'S DISPLAY KEPT FLASHING "CHECK CHARGE SYS" AND "BATTERY SAVER ON." A MECHANIC SAID TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. I DID BEFORE EMBARKING ON A 200-MILE WEEKEND TRIP. ABOUT 30 MILES INTO THE TRIP, BOTH DISPLAYS RETURNED. BUT THE HHR PERFORMED NORMALLY. ABOUT 170 MILES INTO MY TRIP, I STOPPED TO EAT. MY HHR WOULD NOT CRANK. A TEEN OFFERED A JUMP. CAR STARTED, BUT THE GEAR LOCK KEPT IT IN PARK. WITH MODEST PRESSURE, I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT. ABOUT 3 MILES LATER ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY, I EXPERIENCED DIFFICULT STEERING, DOOR LOCKS WENT UP AND DOWN, THEN SILENCE. EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN. LUCKILY, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND FROM THE RIGHT LANE, I WAS ABLE TO STEER MY HHR OFF THE HIGHWAY. HAD THIS BEEN AT NIGHT, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, RAIN OR AT A HIGHER SPEED, I BELIEVE MY LIFE OR OTHERS WOULD HAVE BEEN IN DANGER. MY CAR WAS TOWED, AND THIS MECHANIC REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. CHEVROLET'S DISPLAY SHOULD HAVE WARNED "ALTERNATOR FAILURE." AND MY GEAR LOCK WAS SO FLIMSY, IT FAILED IN PREVENTING ME FROM DRIVING. NOW, I HAVE A GEAR SHIFT WITH NO PROTECTION FROM ACCIDENTAL SHIFTING, AND MY KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I DO NOT WISH TO BE A STATISTIC. AFTER START UP THE ELECTRONIC STEERING MOTOR INTERMITTENTLY GOES OUT AND CAN MAKE STEERING VERY DIFFICULT.

FUEL LINES ON DRIVERS SIDE NEXT TO REAR WHEEL ARE RUSTING AND LEAKING FUEL OVER A EXHAUST PIPE,WHEN HOT WOULD SURELY CAUSE A FIRE. FROM WHAT I'VE READ A FEW HAVE CAUGHT FIRE.
POWER STEERING FAILED CAUSING DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION. SUDDEN CHANGE IN ABILITY TO CONTROL VEHICLE. START VEHICLE AND HAS POWER STEERING FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING.
THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IT,AND YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SWITCH THE CAR OFF,AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND RESTART THE CAR.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE LIGHT WILL LIGHT UP ON THE DASH STATING POWER STEERING FAILURE. SOMETIMES WHEN I AM IN A CURVE THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE CAR IN A CURVE BECAUSE IT'S NOT EXPECTED. I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND IT WILL JUST GO OUT. I WILL HAVE TO STOP THE CAR AND SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT AND IT WILL BE FINE FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND THEN IT WILL GO OUT AGAIN, AND WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THE CYCLE OF STOPPING AND SHUTTING THE CAR OFF OR CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITHOUT A POWER STEERING UNIT, WHICH I HAVE TO DO MOST OF THE TIME SINCE I DRIVE A LOT ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE READ THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME CAR HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY GENERAL MOTORS HAVE NOT RECALLED THESE CARS AND REPLACED THESE DEFECTIVE POWER STEERING UNITS.

FUEL LINE RUSTED AND BEGAN LEAKING VERY BADLY. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE EVAP SYSTEM IN THE BEGINNING, BUT TODAY THE GAS SMELL WAS VERY STRONG, TO FIND IN A WALMART PARKING LOT, A PUDDLE OF FUEL BACK BY THE REAR TIRE. THIS SEEMS TO BE COMMON PROBLEM, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THEM, AND THERE PROBABLY WEONT BE TILL SOMEONE DIES; THE LEAK IS VERY CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST ELBOW, BEFORE THE MUFFLER. I HAVE OWNED SEVEN CARS BEFORE THIS ONE, AND NOT ONE OF THEM EVER DEVELOPED BAD FUEL LINES, AND NEVER LEAKED FUEL. NOT EVEN A GAS TANK LEAK.

MY CAR WAS PARKED OUT FRONT OF MY HOME AND ON THE MORNING OF 12/28/2016 AS I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK I NOTICED A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. MY AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON AND MY POWER STEERING DONT WORK WHILE THIS AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT IS ON. MY HEAT DONT WORK EITHER WHILE MY AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT IS ON. I CAN DRIVE IT FOR AWHILE AND WHEN MY AIR BAG LIGHT GOES OFF MY POWER STEERING STARTS TO WORK AND MY HEAT DOES TOO.

IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW AND IT FIRST STARTED WHEN THE HEAT INDEX STARTED TO GET REALLY HIGH. IT STARTED OFF ONLY OCCASIONALLY DOING IT, BUT NOW IT'S MORE FREQUENT. HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER TO HAVE SERVICE TECH LOOK AT IT.
