MY NAME IS [XXX], I AM LAUNCHING THIS COMPLAINT, BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I ALREADY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY IGNITION (I CANNOT GET MY KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION WITHOUT USING THE RELEASE BUTTON). WHAT BOTHERED ME WAS THE FACT THAT I HAD TO GO ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS WAS A ISSUE. WHAT I FOUND WAS THAT GM KNEW OF THE PROBLEM AND HAD A SOLUTION AS WELL AS THE NHTSA ALSO NEW ABOUT IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED MOMENTS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN. I PULLED OVER TURNED ENGINE OFF AND WHEN STARTED AGAIN IT AGAIN STEERING WORKED. WENT TO A STORE, AND DROVE CAR ABOUT HALF MILE AND STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD TURNED ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED AND WORKED FOR ABOUT EIGHT OF A MILE. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND REPEATED AS BEFORE. THIS IS NOW MORE FREQUENT. AS OF TODAY 9/4 AFTER THE ENGINE BEGINS TO WARM UP THE STEERING TURNS OFF. ALL FLUIDS IN CAR ARE FULL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER WHEN THE STEERING GOES OUT. I SAW THAT THE COBALT HAD A RECALL FOR THIS AND THE HHR IS MECHANICALLY AND ELECTRONICALLY THE SAME AS THE HHR. THE HHR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE SAME RECALL. THANK YOU. *JB
DRIVING TO WORK AND TURNED A CORNER, DISCOVER ALMOST TOO LATE THAT I HAD NO POWER STEERING. NO LIGHT FLASHED ON THE DASH TO WARN ME AND I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE HAS BEEN NO SOLUTION TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AS IT KEEPS RECURRING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED A FEW MINUTES LATER AND OPERATED AS DESIGNED FOR ANOTHER MILE BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEM MOTOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000. UPDATED 10/17/13*CN THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE ON AUGUST 20, 2013. UPDATED 10/24/13
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEARS WERE ABLE TO BE CHANGED WITHOUT USING THE BUTTON. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,144.
I DROVE MY HHR TO WORK. PARKED. WENT TO GET OUT AND THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE FELT SOFT AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. TO GET IT OPEN I HAD TO USE THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. I HAVE READ ONLINE ABOUT OTHER HHR OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE OF THE DOOR LATCH. WHILE THE HANDLE REMAINED INTACT, THE LATCH IS NOT WORKING TO OPEN THE DOOR. COUPLE THIS WITH THE NOW TWICE FAILURE OF THE POWERSTEERING MODULE AT A WHOPPING 875.00 EACH TIME I HAVE BEGUN TO REGRET MY DECISION TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE AND THIS IS THE CAR THAT I REALLY WANTED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WAS DETACHED FROM THE DOOR FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BY PUTTING HER HAND THROUGH THE WINDOW TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND ITS VERY HARD TO DRIVE! I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON TO GET IT GOING! WHEN IT FIRST HAPPEN I WAS GOING AROUND A CURVE,AND IT TOTALLY SCARED ME! *TR
POWER STEERING MOTOR SHORTED OUT, WHEN WE TOOK IT TO CHEVY DEALER WE WERE TOLD THAT GM WOULD NOT SELL THE MOTOR SEPARATELY AS THE STEERING COLUMN WENT OUT SHORTLY AFTER THE POWER STEERING MOTOR, AND WERE ALSO TOLD THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON SOME HHR'S. THE PRICE TO REPAIR IS $1500. I AM 71 YEARS OLD, MY DISABLED HUSBAND IS 72 YEARS OLD AND WE ONLY HAVE SOCIAL SECURITY AS INCOME. TRIED TO GET SOME COMPENSATION FROM GM AND AFTER ALMOST 3 WEEKS THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED FROM A DEALER OTHER THAN A CHEVY DEALER, THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND OVER MILEAGE. IF THE STEERING GOES OUT THERE MOST LIKELY BE AN ACCIDENT OF SOME KIND. WE HAVE NO OTHER TRANSPORTATION, I DO FEEL THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE TO HAVE GM HONOR THE RECALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE HOURS LATER HOWEVER, THE STEERING WHEEL HAD BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT STATED SHE DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER BECAUSE SHE DID NOT TRUST THE PARTS THAT WERE BEING USED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING, CAUSING ME TO NEARLY HIT MY MAILBOX. THE INFORMATION SCREEN ON THE SPEEDOMETER SAID POWER STEERING AND MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. *TR

A WARNING BELL SOUNDED AS THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE NORMALLY FOR A SHORT PERIOD BEFORE THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

SHORTLY AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR, 06 CHEVROLET HHR, IN MAY 2013, MY FIANCE, INFANT CHILD AND I WAS OUT LOOKING AT HOMES TO POSSIBLY PURCHASE. WHEN SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE CAR. I CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP AGAINST THE CURBSIDE TO AVOID HITTING ANYTHING OR ANYONE. UNTIL NOW, I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE AS TO WHY THAT HAPPENED. I SEE THAT MANY CHEVROLET HHR OWNERS HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING WITH THEIR VEHICLE. I WANT TO KNOW WHY GM HAS NOT RECALLED THESE CARS FOR REPAIRS ALONG WITH THE OTHER VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUES. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN LISTED AS A CONDITION OF DEFECTS FOUND IN OUR CAR. *TR
I WAS GOING ABOUT 35MPH WHEN I CAME UPON A CURVE AND MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED ME TOO LOOSE CONTROL AND CRASH INTO AN OPEN FIELD. IVE SPENT MOST OF MY DAY RESEARCHING AND MAKING PHONE CALLS. MY LOCAL DEALER TELLS ME THAT THERE HAS BEEN MANY ISSUES WITH THIS BUT THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RECALLS ON THE 2006 HHR. *TR

I WAS DRIVING WITH ATLEAST 42 MPH COMING DOWN FROM A BRIDGE WITH A CURVE ROAD WHEN MY POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN. NO SIGN, WHEN I TRIED TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL FOR THE CURVE, IT WOULDN'T MOVE. I PANICKED AND ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE EVERYBODY'S DRIVING THE SAME SPEED AS ME. I HAD TO TURN ON MY HAZARD SIGN TO NOTIFY OTHERS I+M HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN..AS SOON AS I REACHED HOME, I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND AFTER 10 MINS TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND IT WAS WORKING FINE. IM TOO SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR. MY WORK IS 12 MILES FROM ME AND THIS STEERING PROBLEM HAPPENED WITHOUT A WARNING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTICES FOR NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V047000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE CAR SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, THE VEHICLE CAN STILL BE STEERED, HOWEVER, WITH GREATER EFFORT (MANUAL STEERING). THE SLOWER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, THE HIGHER THE STEERING EFFORT. UNLESS A DRIVER COMPENSATES FOR THIS ADDITIONAL STEERING EFFORT, LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, A CHIME WILL BE HEARD AND THE MESSAGE CENTRE WILL DISPLAY A POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE. TYPICALLY THE NEXT TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WILL RETURN AND THE MESSAGE WOULD NO LONGER BE DISPLAYED. *TR
AFTER ABIDING BY THE RECALL TO CHANGE THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE CAR STARTS FREAKING OUT RANDOMLY. THE DASH LIGHTS START GOING ON AND OFF. LOOSE POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND THE CAR JUST STOPS. YOU CAN BE GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR JUST GIVES OUT. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO FIX IT UNLESS I AM WILLING TO PAY ALL THE FEES. I HAD A SECOND DEALERSHIP REPLACE SOME FUSES BUT AFTER 2 DAYS IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. AFTER THE FIRST EPISODES, I CALLED AND OPENED A TICKET WITH CHEVROLET, BUT BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP I USED DIDN'T WANT TO MESS WITH THE CAR ANY MORE THEY WERE NOT VERY HELPFUL. NOW I AM DRIVING A DEATH TRAP BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW CAR AND I WON'T LET MY CHILDREN DRIVE OR BE IN THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE NUMBER THREE CYLINDER HAD MISFIRED. AS A RESULT, THE EXHAUST VALVE AND THE EXHAUST HEAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION FAILED AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT HAD TO MOVE GEAR SHIFTER LEVER SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE GEAR SHIFTER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,402. ..UPDATED 08-07-13 *BF
THE POWER STEERING CHIMES AND THEN THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYS POWER STEERING. THE WHEEL IS BECOMING HARDER TO TURN ESPECIALLY IN CURVES AND MAKING TURNS. ON THE HIGHWAY THE WHOLE STEERING WHEEL ALMOST GETS SO TIGHT YOU CAN'T GET INTO ANOTHER LANE. ON THE STREET I CAN START THE CAR AND IT WILL RESET IF I LET IT SIT BUT THEN IT WILL JUST CHIME AGAIN AND GO RIGHT BACK OUT. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE HOLD TIME IS CRAZY 3-4 HRS LISTENING TO MUSIC AND THEN BEING TOLD THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY CAR AT THIS TIME BUT THERE IS A LIFETIME WARRANTY WHICH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WON'T HONOR OR EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR UNTIL THEY SEE IT ON CHEVY WEBSITE EVEN THOUGH SEVERAL REPS HAVE SENT EMAIL NOTICES TO THE GM LOCAL HEAD MGR. THEY SAID WE WILL LOOK AT THIS AS A CASE BY CASE. THIS IS VERY VERY UNSAFE. IT'S NOT LIKE GM IS NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, THEN BEING TOLD THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THE RECALL NOTICES HAVE NOT BEEN SENT OUT YET, AND THEN BEING TOLD AFTER THEY FIXED THE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM IN MY CAR AND THIS WAS TAKING PLACE AT THE SAME TIME THAT THEY COULD NOT LOOK OR DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. GM IS AWARE OF THIS! I'M SCARED THAT I AM GOING TO BE DRIVING AND LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL DO I HAVE TO DIE BEFORE GM WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. NOT LIKE THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEY ARE AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED! GETTING THE RUN AROUND IS SO FRUSTRATING WHEN THEY HAD MY CAR FIXING THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT WAS ON RECALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AS THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT HAD TO MERGE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESUME NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,112.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BUT THE INTERIOR DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED IN HIS HAND. THEE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE DOOR PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE REMAINING THREE DOORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

I WASW ABLE TO SAFELY GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, CHECKED FUSES, FOUND NO PROBLEM. RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. HAD NOW DONE THIS ABOUT 15 TIMES AFTER THE CAR WARMS UP OR TRAVELDED ABOUT 20 MILES. HAS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE A FEW TIMES AND CAUSES HER DIDICULTY IN STERING THE CAR WITH HER RECOVERY FROM SHOULDER SURGERY. IN RESEARCHING ON LINE AND I SEE THIS CAR HAS BEEN RECALLED IN CANADA, AND THE SAME PARTS ARE USED IN THE CHEVY COVALT AND HAS RECALLS FOR THE PROBLEM IN THE US. VEHICLE WILL STALL AND WE WILL CRASH OR BE HIT BY SOME ONE. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS YOU LOOSE ALL POWER THAT IS POWER STEERING,BRAKES,THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE .IT BEGAN WITH MY KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION,WOULD HAVE TO TRY TO PLACE IN PARK MULTIPLE TIMES TO RELEASE THE KEY. FOUND THE PANEL IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE RELEASE BUTTON TO REMOVE KEY. NOW THE GEAR SHIFT BUTTON IS STUCK IN THE PRESSED POSITION, MAKING THE CAR VULNERABLE TO COMING OUT OF GEAR. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND COSTLY TO FIX. ADDITIONAL PERSONAL RESEARCH HAS INDICATED THIS IS A COMMON & KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE DASH PANEL WARNING LIGHTS ALL STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF. WHEN IT DID THIS THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND WHEN I TRIED TO STOP THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE POWER BRAKES DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT. IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE HAD THE OLD STYLE MANUAL BRAKES. IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE I NOTICED THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER HHR OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM ORIGINALLY STARTED WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TO COME ON RANDOMLY AND I WOULD HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO RESET THE COMPUTER. *TR
MY 2006 HHR HAS HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT AND REAR END STRUTS REPLACED AND NOW, THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND DRIVE SHAFT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 80K MILES ON IT. I DON'T DRIVE IT THAT MUCH SO IT SHOULDN'T BE HAVING ALL OF THESE ISSUES. WHY HASN'T GM ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR ALL THE PROBLEMS IT HAS? THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING CONTROL. A CHIME SOUNDED AND A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE POWER STEERING CUTS OUT REGULARLY SINCE, EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. I HAVE CONTACTED GM NUMEROUS TIMES, THEY INSIST THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECENT POWER STEERING RECALLS EVEN THOUGH IT USES THE SAME EXACT POWER STEERING MOTOR AS THE VEHICLES THAT ARE INCLUDED (MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER HAS VERIFIED THIS AND HAS CONTACTED GM ON MY BEHALF TOO). THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY IN SLOW LANE, POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AND I INSTANTLY LOST POWER STEERING. I STOPPED AT NEXT EXIT, TURNED OFF CAR CALLED HUSBAND HE SAID TO TAKE IT HOME. I CALLED MY DEALER HE SAID NO RECALL AND IT WOULD COST $109.00 TO DIAGNOSE AND $120.00- $653.00 JUST FOR PARTS NOT LABOR. I CHECKED ON LINE AND THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CHEVY COBALT AND PONTIAC G5 HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND THEY HAVE THE IDENTICAL ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR. WHY HAVEN,T YOU RECALLED THE HHR? I WAS DRIVING TO PICK MY KIDS UP FROM SCHOOL WHEN MY POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, SO I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND PURCHASED SOME POWER STEERING FLUID BUT THIS CAR DOESN'T TAKE POWER STEERING FLUID BECAUSE ITS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE POWER STEERING WAS OK. I WAS DRIVING BACK OUT TO THE SCHOOL THIS MORNING AND MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AND ONCE I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON IT HAS BEEN FINE.
