WHILE WORKING ON MY CAR AND CLEANING I DISCOVERED I AM DRIVING A BOMB. THE BATTERY IS LOCATED IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT DIRECTLY OVER THE GAS TANK A REAR END COLLISION WOULD SET OFF AN IMMEDIATE FIRE OR EXLPLOSION FROM AN ELECTRICAL SHORT, SPARK, OR BATTERY EXPLOSION, SHOULD THE GAS TANK OR ANY CONNECTIONS TO BE BROKEN. *TR
2007 CHEVROLET HHR LS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT VEHICLE, WITH INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IN OPEN POSITION AND FOOT ON BRAKE, I SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING/OPENING MECHANISM FEATURE BROKE THE HANDLE RENDERING EXIT FROM INTERIOR IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT LOWERING POWER WINDOW AND REACHING FROM THROUGH OPEN WINDOW TO ACCESS EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. IN THE EVENT OF A SERIOUS CRASH THIS WILL IN EFFECT TRAP THE DRIVER IN THE VEHICLE. GM REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS SERIOUS DEFECT IN DESIGN WHICH HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES ACCORDING TO PUBLIC REPORTS. THE DOOR HANDLE IS AVAILABLE ONLY THROUGH GM DEALERS AT A QUOTED PRICE OF 450.00 DOLLARS . FOR A PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE THAT BROKE DUE TO POOR DESIGN. *TR
HHR 2007 LTD, BRAKES CHECKED AND ROTORS TURNED BY DEALER AT 20K AND NOW AT 34K THE SHAKING IS BAKE, AND THE ROTORS NEED REPLACEMENT. *TR
THE BRAKES STARTED SHUTTERING AFTER 20000 MILES, THE DEALER FOUND THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND TURNED THE ROTORS. AT 55000 MILES THE TROUBLE HAS RETURNED AND SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF THE 3 YRS 36000 MILE WARRANTY WILL NOT FIX. THE BRAKES PULSATE BADLY AT THIS POINT AND 2 SERVICE MANAGERS CLAIM IS THE RESULT OF THE ROTORS BEING TOO LIGHT FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE CAR AND IT IS HAPPENING TO MANY CHEVY HHR OWNERS. THE 2ND PROBLEM IS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING. THE STEERING SHAKES WHEN THE WARPED BRAKES ARE APPLIED DUE TO THE PLASTIC GEARS WEARING AND WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING OVER A ROUGH SURFACE. AGAIN THE DEALER NOR GM WILL MAKE REPAIRS DUE TO CAR OUT OF 3 YR 36000 WARRANTY. AGAIN THE SERVICE MANAGERS HAS ADMITTED THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING TO MANY OWNERS. BOTH PROBLEMS CAN LEAD TO A LOSS OF CONTROL AND THE ROTORS COULD CAUSE THE BRAKE PADS TO DETERIORATE AND PREVENT PROPER BRAKING LEADING TO LOSS OF CONTROL AND ACCIDENTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED HE NOTICED A CLANKING SOUND ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE STABILIZER LINK WAS REPLACED. PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURE THE CONTACT HAD THE SAME PART REPLACED ON 3 ADDITIONAL OCCASIONS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 67000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FAILS TO RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION UNLESS A BUTTON UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL IS TOUCHED. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARS A STRANGE NOISE UNDERNEATH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE IS HEARD EACH MORNING, WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS, AND AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED FOR DAYS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
FRONTAL CRASH - DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD SEVERAL STALLING RELATED FAILURES SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE. HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF, AFTER 10 MINUTES THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE FAILURE OCCURRED. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE AND THE DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE ANY FURTHER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD PULSATE DURING BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED BOTH FRONT ROTORS AND THE BRAKE PADS. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. UPDATED 08/13/12
07 HHR KEY STUCK IN IGNITION, SHIFT DIDN'T REGISTER IN PARK SO KEY COULD BE PULLED. BECAUSE OF THIS CAR CAN BE PUT IN GEAR OR NEUTRAL WITHOUT STARTING. LEAVES CAR VULNERABLE TO THEFT BECAUSE CAN'T SET ALARM. CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH MODEL, BROTHER-IN-LAW HAS ONE WITH SAME PROBLEM. I WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION. MY CAR HAD OVER 9,000 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP I WENT TO WAS NOT ABLE TO REPAIR THE AIRBAGS BUT WERE ABLE TO TURN THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON SO THAT I WAS AWARE THAT THEY NO LONGER WORKED. *TR
THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON OUR 2007 CHEVROLET HHR VIOLENTLY SHAKES THE WHOLE CAR WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE AT HIGHER SPEEDS ESPECIALLY GOING DOWN HILL. THE BRAKES ARE NO WHERE NEAR NEEDING REPLACED YET AND THE CHEVY DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM CLAIMS THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WITHOUT CHARGING US FOR A REPAIR??? I DO NOT NEED NEW BRAKES I JUST NEED THE ONES ON IT TO WORK PROPERLY. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET AND THIS SITE DEMONSTRATES A DESIGN OR PARTS PROBLEM SINCE MANY OWNERS HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD INVITE ANYONE TO CONTACT ME TO TAKE A RIDE IN THE CAR TO SEE HOW UNBELIEVABLY SCARY IT IS TO BE BEHIND THE WHEEL COMING DOWN A HILL AND TRYING TO GET IT STOPPED. SOME ONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY HURT WHEN THE BRAKES FAIL. STEERING WHEEL ON MY 2007 CHEVY HHR WOULD SHAKE EVERY TIME I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE CAR ONLY HAS 9,200 MILES ON IT. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM WITH A NUMBER OF HHR'S. HE SHAVED THE ROTORS. ROTORS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE WHEN THE CAR ONLY HAS 9,000 MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE THE ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE. SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME HE THINKS THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE STEEL THEY USED IS TOO SOFT. A RECALL IS IN ORDER. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. AN INVESTIGATION MUST TAKE PLACE AND AN AUDIT OF HOW MANY HHR'S HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WHENEVER IT RAINS, WATER DRIPS FROM BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. THE FIRST TIME WE NOTICED IT, WE HAD 6 INCHES OF RAIN FALL ON A SINGLE DAY. NOW IT OCCURS DURING VERY MINOR RAINS. WE HAVE NOT YET HAD IT REPAIRED, BUT I LEARNED FROM INTERNET POSTINGS THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD FAILURE OF THIS CAR, SOMETHING TO DO WITH AN OPENING IN THE FIREWALL THAT HAS BEEN CHEAPLY LINED WITH PAPER RATHER THAN A RUBBER OR PLASTIC BOOT. I REALIZE THIS IS HARDLY A LIFE-THREATENING PROBLEM FOR MOST OWNERS, BUT MY WIFE HAS ALLERGY-INDUCED ASTHMA, WITH MOLD AS A MAJOR TRIGGER. THE REPEATEDLY WET CARPET COULD CAUSE HER VERY REAL PROBLEMS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE ROTORS WERE TURNED AT 9,000 MILES. THE FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE ROTORS WERE TURNED AGAIN. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTED AND AT 30,000 MILES THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 31,000. THE CHEVY HHR SHOULD BE RECALLED I WILL RIGHT TO MY CONGRESSMAN, NEW PAPER MY SENATOR AND EVERYONE ELSE UNTIL YOU RECALL THE CHEVY HHR FOR CUTTING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE DRIVING, I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING AND MY CAR SHUT OFF WHEN PASSING OVER A BUMP, OR DRIVING IN FRONT OF A TRUCK AND IT JUST SHUTTING OFF, IT HAS SHUT OFF APPROX 28 TIMES AND STILL GOING STRONG AND NO ONE WANTS TO DO ANYTHING NOT EVEN GM AND OTHER GM OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM CORRODED PLUGS, FAULTY REMOTE CONTROLS KEY FOB BATTERY LOW, GEAR SHIFT HAD TO BE CHANGE, DOES SOME HAVE TO DIE FOR HELP OR BE MAULED IN A ACCIDENT. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO DO SOMETHING. GM DON'T CAR THE DEALER SAYS I WAS SOLD A DEMO CAR BUT IT WAS A RENTAL CAR. THEY LIE, WHITE CHEVROLET IN ROANOKE RAPIDS NC THEY NEED TO BUY THE CAR BACK AND REIMBURSE ME FOR THE HEADACHES AND INCONVENIENCE. *TR
MY RIGHT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE FAILED AND BLEW OUT IN 3 PLACES CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO SLAM INTO CONCRETE GUARDRAILS WHILE I WAS ON THE INSIDE CORNER OF THE HIGHWAY AND RAINING. THE TIRE HAD WHAT WAS TOLD AS AN EGG DEVELOP INSIDE THE TIRE BURSTING OUT. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS FOLLOWED THROUGH WITH SUBJUGATION TOWARDS GM TO FIND OUT WHY THE TIRED FAILED; JUST THAT THEY REPLACED THE TIRE AND STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECEIVE PICTURES OF THE TIRE NOR HOW THE TIRE WAS DISPOSED. GM SHOULD HAVE PAID FOR THIS AS IT WAS A FACTORY TIRE THAT FAILED AND COULD HAVE INJURED ME WORSE; EVEN CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT. I HAVE NO POLICE REPORT BUT HAD 3 JSO JACKSONVILLE, FL OFFICERS STOP AND NONE OF THEM HELPED ME WITH THIS MATTER AND NEVER CALLED ANYONE BACK TO HELP ME. I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE MAY BE MORE FIRESTONE TIRES OUT THERE LIKE MINE AND HOLDING GM RESPONSIBLE FOR RESPONDING BACK TO ME AS TO WHY IT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. LOUSY BRAKES. WHILE DRIVING IN HOT WEATHER, APPLYING BRAKES SETS OFF VIOLENT SHAKING AND PULSATION IN STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL. THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY OVER USAGE. OCCURRED AT FIRST APPLICATION. AIR TEMP WAS APPROXIMATELY 95 DEG. BRAKES WORK FINE IN COLD WEATHER. STOPPED AT LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS OF SERVICE BULLETINS CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE BRAKES WERE MADE AS CHEAPLY AS POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY THE ROTORS. *TR

CHEVROLET HHR 2007 SUSPENSION AND DIRECTION ELEMENTS SEEMS TO BE DEFECTIVE OR NEEDS TO BE REINFORCED. I HAVE ONE AND PIECES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. I AM IN MEXICO CITY. *TR
I PURCHASE A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR IN OCTOBER 2007. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES FOR KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND FAILURE TO START. THE DEALER HAS REPLACE GEAR SHAFT, FLOOR SHIFT. THE FIRST TIME CAR WAS PUT IN SHOP THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. SPOKE WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND FILED A CLAIM, BUT THEY WILL NOT ADMIT TO ANY DEFECT TO THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS JUST REACHED OVER THE 40,000 MILE WARRANTY THEREFORE GM WILL NOT REPURCHASE BUT OFFERED GM OWNERS LOYALTY CERTIFICATE FOR $1700 TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF ANOTHER GM VEHICLE. JUST BOUGHT THE CAR, UPSIDE DOWN $1700 DOES NOT EVEN TOUCH THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG FOR AN OBVIOUS DEFECT AND SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CAR. WHEN THE PROBLEMS HAPPENS AGAIN AND IT WILL IT WILL BE A LEMON. WILL USE ALL OF THE REMEDIES THAT THE STATE HAS TO OFFER.
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK MY TEMP LIGHT CAME ON & MY CAR STARTED SHAKING REALLY BAD. WHILE DRIVING IT CUT OFF & I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY CAR NEVER CRANKED BK UP & HAD TO BE TOWED. THERE WAS ALSO COOLANT LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM. COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN MY RADIATOR BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING COVERING IT (OTHERS MAY WANT TO CHECK INTO THIS). I HAD TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE PUT IN MY CAR IN ADDITION I HAD A FAULTY WIRE TO MY ALTERNATOR & HAD TO HAVE BOTH STABILIZER LINKS REPLACED ABOUT 4 DAYS AFTER THE 1ST REPAIR. NOW WHEN I DRIVE MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES SO THIS WILL BE THE 3RD REPAIR. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH THROUGH SMALL QUANTITIES OF WATER, THE VEHICLE FISHTAILED AS IF THE TIRES HAD POOR TRACTION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE TIRES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. HE STILL HAS POSSESSION OF THE TIRES. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE ON ANOTHER OCCASION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE DOORS MUST BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN INTO THE DEALER AT A LATER TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW IN NOVEMBER 2007, AND HAS HAD A COUPLE ISSUES. WHEN NEW, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO NOT TRACK STRAIGHT, OR WAS AT LEAST 'TWITCHY' ON THE ROAD. WITH LESS THAN 6000 MILES, THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A NOTICEABLE 'CLUNK' IN THE FRONT END. TOOK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY FOUND A "DAMAGED SWAY BAR BUSHING", DECIDED THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE FACTORY, AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THAT ISSUE, AS WELL AS MADE THE CAR LESS 'TWITCHY' TO DRIVE. WITH JUST UNDER 10,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED A SENSATION OF HAVING A WARPED ROTOR WHEN BRAKING. ROTORS TURNED BY DEALER AND THE PROBLEM HAS GONE AWAY FOR NOW, BUT TECH AT DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR HHR'S. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN DRIVEN BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE STABILIZER CONTROL ARM; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THREE OTHER SERVICE CENTERS FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY CONFIRMED THE STABILIZER FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED AGAIN THAT THE FRONT STABILIZER FAILED. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR WAS $300. IT WOULD BE EASIER TO LIST THE THINGS THAT ARE OK WITH THIS CAR. I'VE RESURFACED OR REPLACED THE ROTORS SEVERAL TIMES (FOUR TIMES IN ONE YEAR) AFTER CONSISTENTLY COMPLAINING TO THE DEALER THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE THINGS WERE FALLING OFF THE CAR. THE CAR'S BRAKING AND STEERING CAPACITY IS EXTREMELY DIMINISHED. I'VE REPLACED A BROKEN STABILIZER CONTROL ARM AND NOW I'M TOLD THE FRONT END NEEDS TO BE REBUILT. THIS DAMAGE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE ROTOR WARPING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON MORE THAN OFF AND ITS BEEN IN AT LEAST 10 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. THESE VEHICLES ARE DANGEROUS! THE PROBLEMS WITH MINE ARE ON-GOING DESPITE SEVERAL REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT ATTEMPTS. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FIVE TIMES SINCE PURCHASING IT NEW. BRAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. THE VEHICLE SHAKES, LURCHES SHIMMIES AND FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES HAVE LOCKED UP. STOPPING ON A HILL IS A SCARY EXPERIENCE. THE ONLY REASON GM HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO RECALL THESE CARS IS BECAUSE NO ONE HAS DIED YET. IT WOULD BE EASIER FOR ME TO DETAIL WHAT IS RIGHT WITH THE CAR THAN TRY TO EXPLAIN ALL OF ITS PROBLEMS. IT NOW HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT AND I'VE BEEN TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES WITH IT SINCE IT WAS NEW. I AM NOW BEING FORCED TO STOP PAYMENT AND LET THEM REPOSSESS IT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT OF THE ROAD AND STRUCK THE GUARDRAIL. THE CONTACT AND HER SON WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM, BUT WERE UNINJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. SHE ATTEMPTED TO NOTIFY GMC FOR WEEKS AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY FEEDBACK. THE DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THEIR APPROVAL. THE VIN WAS CONFIRMED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE CONTACT, BUT APPEARS TO BE INVALID. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 20,000.

MY HHR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN MAY OF LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF SHAKING WHEN I BRAKE. THE ROTORS WERE FILED DOWN AND THIS LAST TIME IN JANUARY 08 THEY SAID THEY REPLACED A PART THAT SHOULD KEEP THE PROBLEM FROM OCCURRING AGAIN. NOW, ABOUT 7K MILES SINCE THE LAST TIME, THE PROBLEM IS BACK. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS THE WAY I DRIVE, BUT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MORE THAN 24 YEARS AND HAVE HAD DOZENS OF CARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR (ESPECIALLY AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON VARIOUS WEB SITES). 2007 CHEVY HHR WITH TWO SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL WHICH STATED THAT THE ATTACHMENT NEAR THE SUN VISOR AND ROOF IS DEFECTIVE. THE SECOND PROBLEM WAS WATER GETS UNDER THE DOOR PANEL AND FREEZES WITH EVERY SNOW, RAIN, HAIL, OR MIX STORM RECEIVED. I PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVROLET HHR LAST YEAR. I STILL POSSESS THE WINDOW STICKER FROM THE MANUFACTURER THAT STATES MY VEHICLE RECEIVED A 5 STAR FRONTAL AND SIDE CRASH TEST RATING FROM NHTSA. I OWN A 2007 HHR (MILEAGE 10753). IT IS EASY TO DRIVE, IS ROOMY AND ECONOMICAL TO OPERATE. I HAD A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE LAST EVENING WHILE DRIVING THE HHR ON AN EXPRESSWAY IN TRAFFIC. THE MOTOR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC CONTINUED TO WORK PROPERLY. THE WARNING MESSAGE WAS "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". I MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. NO SOUNDS, CLICKS, NOTHING. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED WITH AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ON. I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND HAD SOMETHING TO EAT. I WENT OUT AND THE CAR STARTED UP WITHOUT AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO, HOLLER CHEVROLET (WINTER PARK, FL), THIS MORNING. HOLLER CHEVROLET REPLACED A CHIP (PCM) AND SAID IT WOULD BE FINE. WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS FLATTENING. HE ARRIVED AT HIS DESTINATION WITHOUT A FAILURE. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. HE PLACED AIR IN THE TIRE AND DROVE TO A DEALER IN MARYLAND, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. HE RETURNED TO ALABAMA AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HIS LOCAL DEALER SO THEY COULD INSPECT THE TIRES. THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY ANY FAILURES AS WELL. THE REAR TIRE FAILED AND A LOCAL MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THE TIRES MAY BE OVERINFLATED. THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES SINCE RECEIVING THE MECHANIC'S SUGGESTION. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. SHE CALLED THE DEALER FROM WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK. WHEN SHE WENT TO TURN IN THE VEHICLE, THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO SELL HER ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THEN REFUSED TO TAKE THE DEFECTIVE VEHICLE BACK. THEY STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO CORROSION OF ONE OF THE PLUGS. THEY REPAIRED THE PLUG CORROSION AND SOME BRAKE ISSUES. THE REPAIR LASTED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH BEFORE RECURRING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,666 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000. 2007 CHEVROLET HHR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH RECALL NOTICE AND POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD THREE ACCIDENTS. THE FIRST ACCIDENT, HE HIT A LIGHT POLE AND DAMAGED THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE SECOND ACCIDENT, HE HIT A TREE AND THE THIRD ACCIDENT, SOMEONE BACKED INTO HIM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, IN ANY OF THE ACCIDENTS. THE CONSUMER FELT HE LOST POWER STEERING IN THE FIRST TWO ACCIDENTS. SINCE DECEMBER 2010, THE STEERING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE.
