SOMEONE HAS HACKED MY VEHICLE. AT NIGHT I CAN HEAR MY CAR DOORS BEING UNLOCKED AND LOCKED WITH A REMOTE AND ITEMS HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM MY CAR. MY CAR WAS PARKED OVER NIGHT
I NOTICED A STICK ON THE WINDOW FROM THE RECENT STORMS, AND WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO REMOVE THE STICK FROM THE WINDSHIELD, THE HANDLE JUST CAME OFF IN MY HAND. THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY. WHAT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN AN ACCIDENT, AND I HAD BEEN TRAPPED IN MY CAR? SUDDEN TEMPERATURE CHANGES AND THE PLASTIC CONNECTOR'S SHAPE PROBABLY DOESN'T HELP. CONNECTOR ISN'T DESIGNED WELL, IT'S CLOSE TO A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. SO, ANY STRESS ALL GOES TO THE SAME POINT ON THE CONNECTOR.
I TRIED TO USED REMOTE START FROM MY FOB. IT WORKED THE FIRST TIME BUT NOTHING AFTER THAT..STATIONARY THESE WERE THE EVENTS THAT FOLLOWED: ALL AT THE SAME TIME LOST POWER STEERING (POWER STEERING ASSIST) LANDED ME IN THE HOSPITAL WITH TORN CHEST MUSCLE WHILE CAR WAS MOVING ON A INTERSTATE NO A/C (COMPRESSOR DOES NOT COME ON) STATIONARY SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE CAR WAS MOVING ON THE INTERSTATE SERVICE TIRE MONITORS STATIONERY NO TEMP READING STATIONARY
THE ENGINE BEGAN A RANDOM MISFIRE PROBLEM, P0300 CODE. I GOT THE THROTTLE BODY CHANGED OUT, NOW THE CAR REVS HIGHER EVERY TIME I START IT. IT GIVES ITSELF FUEL IN REVERSE AND DRIVE, WITH NO HELP FROM THE GAS PEDAL. IT IS UNSAFE.
ON AUGUST 2 2018 I WAS DRIVING. I HAD MY OLDEST DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT. WE CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND MADE A RIGHT TURN. AS I WAS TURNING THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN AND MY DAUGHTER AND HER CELL PHONE WENT FLYING OUT. SHE GOT SCRAPES AND BRUISES BUT NOTHING MAJOR. HER CELL PHONE SCREEN SMASHED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER THINKING SHE JUST DIDN'T SHUT THE DOOR ALL THE WAY AND TRIED TO SHUT IT. IT WOULDN'T LATCH. I WENT TO THE CLOSEST GAS STATION AND TRIED GETTING THE DOOR TO SHUT, AS I WAS STANDING THERE SLAMMING THE DOOR IN THE POURING RAIN, I NOTICED A LADY TRYING TO SHUT HER DOOR. HERS WOULDN'T SHUT EITHER (SHE DRIVES A CHEVY, NOT THE SAME MAKE) I WENT OVER TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THE LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. I CALLED AUTO ZONE TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THE PART FOR THE CAR BECAUSE I CAN NOT DRIVE AROUND WITH A REAR DOOR THAT WILL NOT SHUT. THE LADY I SPOKE TO TOLD ME THAT IT IS A DEALER PART AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE DEALER BUT IN THE MEANTIME I CAN GET A STRIKER REPAIR KIT ONLINE. SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE ALSO HAS A CHEVY AND HER DOORS WON'T STAY SHUT. I CALLED CHEVY AND HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM SOMEONE ON WHAT TO DO. THIS ISN'T A PROBLEM THAT WE CAN SEE. IT HAS TO BE AN INTERNAL ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED AN UNKNOWN SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PIONEER CHEVROLET (1315 PIKE ST, MARIETTA, OH) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ALSO, WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK. FURTHERMORE, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) SYSTEM AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ESC SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN STOPPING AND PUTTING CAR IN PARK, KEY WILL NOT TURN TO OFF AND CANNOT BE REMOVED. IF KEY LEFT IN, BATTERY WENT DEAD AND WE WERE STUCK IN A RV STORAGE LOT.
INSTRUMENT PANEL FUNCTIONS WORK INTERMITTENTLY WHILE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND FLASHES ON AND OFF. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE SPEEDOMETER FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM ALSO AFFECTS THE ABILITY OF TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT INTO GEAR PROPERLY. WHEN VEHICLE IS CHECKED USING DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER, COMPUTER FAILS TO DETECT CODE ERROR OR IDENTIFY PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE.ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

WHEN STEERING AROUND SHARP TURNS AT SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT WANT TO RETURN TO CENTER WHEN RELEASED. STEERING IS NOT SMOOTH, FEELS 'NOTCHY'. FUSE IS GOOD. REPLACING POWER STEERING MOTOR DID NOT REPAIR PROBLEM.
IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT OR WHEREVER IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING. IT GETS A SURGE OF POWER AND STARTS RUNNING RUFF. THE CAR SHAKES ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON, SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION, ESC OFF, ENG POWER REDUCED. AT THIS POINT THERE IS NO POWER. I FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND RESTART THE ENGINE THEN IT'S FINE AGAIN EXCEPT THE ENGINE SYMBOL STAYS ON. THE CHEVY DEALER HOOKED IT TO THE COMPUTER AND SAID IT'S MISFIRING ON ALL FOUR CYCLINDERS, BUT THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 70 MPH, WHEN I BEGAN TO GET THE MESSAGES SERVICE ESC ESC OFF, TRACTION CONTROL OF, ENGINE REDUCED POWER AND NOT TO MENTION ALL MY LIGHTS LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. ALSO WHEN ALL OF THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN MY VEHICLE JERKS REDUCED SPEED DRASTICALLY AND WAS SHAKING VIGOROUSLY I HURRY UP AND EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP 3 MILES OR SO DOWN THE ROAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED ONLY THIS TIME I WAS TURNING UNTO A BUSY INTERSECTION AND I WAS LEFT STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT BUDGE I HAD TO END UP GETTING IT TOWED. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IT'S VERY DANGEROUS AND IF I WOULD HAVE HAD MY KIDS WITH ME I WOULDN'T BE AS CALM AS I AM NOW. I AM LIVID AND OUTRAGED AS TO WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DOES IT TAKE UNTIL THIS TYPE OF SITUATION GETS ADDRESSED THE WAY IT NEEDS TO? NOW HAVEN'T SPENT OVER $600 MY PROBLEM STILL EXISTS BUT ONLY NOW MY VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE AND PARKED. PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE US ANSWERS THE CORRECT ANSWERS THE ANSWERS WE'VE ALL BEEN SEARCHING FOR AND DO THE RIGHT THING.
THE BRACKS ARE COMING WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD..THEY COME ON ALL BY THEMSELVES..ITS SAYS ABS ON...IT GRABS AND PULLS TO THE LEFT LIKE THE LEFT SIDE BRAKES ARE CATCHING..DRIVING ON DRY PAVEMENT..
FUEL LINE LEAK DUE TO RUST HAD TO BE REPLACED.
BOTH FRONT INSIDE DOOR HANDLES BROKE OFF ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE ONLY WAY OUT WAS TO LOWER THE WINDOW AND OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE SITUATION COULD BE AN EXTREME HAZARD SHOULD THE VEHICLE BE ON FIRE OR UNDER WATER. WHAT IF IN A COLD CLIMATE THE WINDOW WAS FROZE? WHAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND WOULDN'T START THEREFORE THE WINDOW WOULDN'T WORK. WHAT IF A ELDERLY PERSON OR A CHILD WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND WAS UNABLE TO LOWER THE WINDOW AND OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE? INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS NUMEROUS OTHER INCIDENTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THE POTENTIAL FOR LIFE AND DEATH IS LIKELY, NOT TO MENTION NEARLY $600 FOR REPAIRS. VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH DOOR HANDLES FOR A PURPOSE.

THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT AND THE HEADLINER DETACHED FROM THE CEILING OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MONUMENT CHEVROLET (3940 PASADENA FWY, PASADENA, TX 77503) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT PROVIDED INFORMATION FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND LEFT A VOICEMAIL FOR A CALL BACK, BUT THERE HAD BEEN NO RESPONSE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
THE INTERIOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF WHILE TRYING TO OPEN IT WHILE I WAS PARKED. I HAD TO PUT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. IF I HAD TO GET OUT IN A EMERGENCY I WON'T BE ABLE TO GET OUT SAFELY AND BECOME TRAPPED BECAUSE IF THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHUT OFF, BUT LOST POWER COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TAKEN TO FROST AND FROST OF GADSDEN, ALABAMA WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEVAN LOWES OF GADSDEN, ALABAMA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND THE DRIVE CLUTCH WERE FAULTY THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. UPDATED 08/22/17*LJ *CN
TRANSMISSION FAILED.
I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT, AS A SAFTY CONCERN / HAZARD NOTICE, ASSOCIATED WITH MY 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME, AND HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. THIS COMPLAINT CONCERNS THE MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE VEHICLES PASSENGER SIDE, FRONT DOOR LATCH. THIS IS THE SECOND DOOR LATCH FAILURE ( DIFFERENT DOOR ) WHICH HAS OCCURRED ON THE SAME VEHICLE, AND HAPPENED ON MARCH 31, 2017, DURING A STOP AT A SHOPPING CENTER. AGAIN, I ATTEMPTED TO FIRMLY "CLOSE" THE DOOR, HOWEVER, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. MY HHR HAS NOW BEEN REPAIRED WITH A NEW LATCH ASSEMBLY. THE FAILED FRONT DOOR LATCH HAS BEEN RETURNED TO ME, AND I WILL STORE IT, IN THE EVENT THAT THE NHTSA WOULD WANT IT / NEED IT, TO PERFORM A FAILURE ANALYSIS. PLEASE REFER TO THE NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10790779 REPORT, FOR DETAILS ABOUT FAILURE # 1 ... WHICH WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE, REAR DOOR LATCH. IN CONCLUSION ... I FEEL THAT THE FAILURE OF THIS DOOR LATCH COULD HAVE POSSIBLY RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, IF IT HAD NOT BEEN NOTICED WHILE AT THE PARKING LOT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF MY FAILED FRONT AND REAR DOOR LATCHES SHOULD BE GIVEN SERIOUS CONSIDERATION.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET SOUTH HARMONY ROAD IN BLOOMINGTON MY POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON I LOST CONTROL I WAS FORCED TO THE RIGHT INTO A DITCH OVER A DRIVEWAY BACK INTO THE DITCH AND I WOUND UP SIDEWAYS IN MY STREET SLAMMED INTO A TREE. I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 HHR AS I UNDERSTAND IT ALL THE HHR'S OF 2010 HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THEIR POWER STEERING I DID GO TO DEALERS I WAS TURNED AWAY AS TO LEAVE I CALLED UM OVER AND OVER AGAIN I WAS BLOWN OFF I WAS NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND AS A RESULT I AM NOW WITHOUT A CAR WE ARE ON DISABILITY UNABLE TO AFFORD ANOTHER CAR AND THEIR IDEA OF HELPING ME IS A $2,000 VOUCHER TOWARDS A NEW CAR THAT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE I HAVE A LETTER THAT STATES IT WAS THEIR FAULT NOT MINE THAT IT WAS A RESULT OF THE POWER STEERING AND I WANT MY CAR REPLACED AND THEY'RE REFUSING TO DO SO SO AS A RESULT NOW MY FAMILY HAS NO WAY TO GET AROUND TO GM'S FAULT I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD REPLACE MY CAR OR AT LEAST GIVE ME ABOUT YOUR WORTH AT LEAST $10,000 TO BE ABLE TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE BUT SO FAR AFTER THE VOUCHER NOBODY'S RETURNING MY CALLS THERE'S SOME MISSING CDR DATA OR CD RX I'M NOT EXACTLY SURE I'M CONFUSED INTO THE WHOLE THING THEY'RE NOT TELLING ME THE WHOLE STORY I BELIEVE THEY'RE HIDING INFORMATION FOR ME NOBODY IS RETURNING MY CALLS I'VE HAD TO CALL WRTV 6 NEWS OUT OF INDIANAPOLIS INDIANA THEY ARE DOING A STORY IT WILL BE AIRING IN JULY AND I'M TIRED OF GETTING THE RUNAROUND FROM GM AND NOW I'M NOT GETTING THE RUNAROUND BECAUSE NOBODY'S RETURNING MY CALLS THEIR KNOWING ME AND I THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND THAT OTHER PEOPLE DRIVING THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THERE MIGHT BE SEVERE ACCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE I WANT THEM TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE
MY 2011 HHR HAS STARTED ACTING UP BY THROWING OUT THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT, ESC LIGHT AND SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT. THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN IN PARK(WHEN WARNING UP THE VEHICLE) AND WHEN IM DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE IN COLD WEATHER. WHEN IT HAPPENS IT REDUCES THE SPEED DOWN TO 25MPH AND LURCHES FORWARD AND SOUNDS HORRIBLE! I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY AND THE INTERSTATE (LUCKILY I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND ABLE TO GET THE SHOULDER SAFELY. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN IT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT ALSO WILL DO IT WHILE STOPPED WAITING FOR A STOP LIGHT TO CHANGE. IT WILL THROW ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WE HAVE CHECKED THE CODES AND CHANGED WHAT IT SAID NEEDED CHANGE BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. FROM WHAT I HAVE LOOKED UP IT LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE ARE HAVING ALL SORTS OF ISSUES WITH THIS BUT NO ONE HAS FOUND A SOLUTION. THERE NEEDS TO BE A SOLUTION BECAUSE SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR IT NOT TO FIX IT IS NOT RIGHT.
BACK DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT LATCH.
PURGE VENT VALVE GROUND WIRE KEEPS BREAKING OFF IN THE WIRING HARNESS DUE TO NOT ENOUGH PROTECTION(FROM THE ELEMENTS)AND CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON(P0449 -PURGE VENT VALVE CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION) AND SOMETIMES HAVE A GAS ORDER IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THIS ONGOING ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ON HOW TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAVE WITH THIS ISSUE.
I PROBLEMS WITH THE FUSE FOR THE TRANSMISSION/ENGINE CONSOLE AND THE ENGINE CUT OFF. IGNITION ISSUES WHERE MY KEY GETS STUCK ALWAYS HAD TO PULL FUSE FOR LIGHTS AND DISCONNECT BATTERY CABLE. AIRBAG LIGHT ALWAYS STAYED ON. SENSORS IS OFF, AIR CONDITIONER DOES NOT WORK. HEATER AND AIR WORK WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. REPLACE EXHAUST SYSTEM
I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER, BECAUSE MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. I ASKED ABOUT A RECALL THERE TOLD ME THERE HASNT BEEN ONE. NOW I AM CLEARLY SEEING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. MY LIGHT HAS BEEN ON ABOUT A YEAR NOW AND I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE SERVICED.
CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO START, WHEN IT DID , IT WOULDN'T GO OVER 20MPH, WENT TO STORE, CAME OUT , IT WOULD START. HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP, ENGINE CRACK AND FROM THAT CRACKING IT BROKE OTHER STUFF. I OWE 3700. ON THE CAR AND TO FIX IT IS 3200.00 SADLY I DO T HAVE THE MONEY. NO CARE, NO WAY TO GET TO WORK. CAR WAS SITTING IN PARKING LOT OF OUR LOCAL SAVE A LOT.

IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S DOOR EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. AN UNKNOWN CHEVROLET DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINS ON

ON SEPTEMBER 20 2016 WHILE PARKED AFTER PICKING UP MY CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL. MY KIDS GOT INTO THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND WHEN CLOSING, THE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT. THE LATCH WOULD NOT CATCH ONTO THE BAR TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT. UPPON FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF CHEVY HHR OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CAR DOOR LOCKS AS WELL. THE LOCK ACTUATOR NO LONGER FUNCTIONING CAUSING THE LATCH TO NONLINEAR WORK. CAUSING A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM. WE CAN NOT DRIVE A CAR THAT'S DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AND STAY SHUT. IT JUST POPS RIGHT BACK OPEN. SEEING HOW MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS THERE ARE ONLINE, THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY CHEVY AND GM. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OUR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR IN THE PAST AS WELL. THANK GOODNESS IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE WE WERE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED, I HAD IT TOWED TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER NEAR ME, IN ROCKAWAY, NJ. THEY REPORTED THAT THE CHARGE WOULD BE OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, AND THERE IS A RECALL

TRAVELING AT 30MPH POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND CAR DROVE OVER CURB & HIT FIRE HYDRANT. UNABLE TO STEER CAR AT ALL. CITED BY POLICE FOR FAILURE TO CONTROL.
IGNITION RECALL , THE SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE . I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES WHEN LEAVING KEY IN IGNITION IN THE OFF POSITION , ALL DASH LIGHTS FLASH AND A LOT OF CLICKING NOISE AND WILL ALL LOCK DOORS . THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL COME ON , WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF AND RESTART CAR IT GOES OUT . I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE SWITCH DEFECTIVE AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE IT , OR CHECK INTO THE MATTER WITH OUT CHARGING ME A SERVICE FEE OF SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS . I TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES , AND CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY , AND OTHER THAT COULD BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT .

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE DOOR HANDLES FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE MORE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
I have owned 2 Chey HHR. On both vehicles, the inside driver door handles have broken within a year of ownership. Cheap plastic door handles did not last as they should. It is not replacing just the door handle, but you have to take apart the whole door and replace the complete mechanism. I very expensive fix. I had to roll down driver window in order to reachoutside and open door from outside the vehicle.

APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER, THE PART HAD NOT BEEN ORDERED OR REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,977.

WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 45 MILES PER HOUR , ALL OF A SUDDEN IN THE DIC A ESC ACTIVE STARTED FLASHING AND MY CAR START LOSING SPEED AND IT FELT LIKE THE TRACTION KICKED IN. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED DOWN TO MAKE SURE IT HAD NOT JUMPED OUT OF GEAR. IT WAS IN THE CORRECT GEAR. THE ESC ACTIVE WENT AWAY AFTER ABOUT 45 SECONDS, AND ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN AND I HAD TO PUT ON MU EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND PULL OFF THE ROAD. BY THE TIME I GOT IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD , THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO LOCK UP AND IT ACT LIKE IT DID NOT WANT TO STOP WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. BY THIS TIME THE SPEED HAD DROPPED TO ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN THIS HAPPEN WAS DRY , AND THE TIRES AND THE BRAKES ON MY CAR WAS IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. ONCE IT WAS TOWED TO MY HOUSE I DROVE IT AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD ABOUT 5 TIMES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I AM TOO SCARED TO DO IN HIGHWAY DRIVING OF THIS CAR, BECAUSE IF IT HAPPENS WHILE I AM ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING I COULD POSSIBILITY BE IN A ACCIDENT IF THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE READ OTHER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING , BUT HAVE NOT GOT ANY REASONS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. THE CAR HAS ROUGHLY 87570 MILES ON IT. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT, AS A SAFTY CONCERN / HAZARD NOTICE, ASSOCIATED WITH MY 2011 CHEVROLET HHR. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME, AND HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. THIS COMPLAINT CONCERNS THE MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE VEHICLES DRIVERS SIDE, REAR DOOR LATCH. ON NOVEMBER 12, 2015, AFTER PICKING UP MY DOG FROM THE GROOMER, I PLACED HER INTO HER CARRIER, LOCATED BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT. I CLOSED THE DOOR, AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. AS I BEGAN TO PULL OUT, ONTO THE ROADWAY, I GLANCED AT MY OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR, AND NOTICED THAT THE DOOR HAD PARTIALLY OPENED. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED, THINKING THAT I HAD POSSIBLY NOT CLOSED THE DOOR SECURELY, OR THAT THERE WAS POSSIBLY SOMETHING IN THE WAY THAT PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM LATCHING CLOSED. EXITING THE VEHICLE, I LOOKED FOR ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE WAY, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING. I ATTEMPTED TO FIRMLY "CLOSE" THE DOOR, HOWEVER, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME WHILE MY WIFE HELD THE DOOR CLOSED WITH OUR DOG LEASH ATTACHED TO IT. AFTER RETURNING HOME, I WAS ABLE TO EXERCISE AND EXAMINE THE DOOR LATCH, AND CONCLUDED THAT IT IN FACT HAD "MECHANICALLY FAILED". THE DOOR LATCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED. I CONTACTED BRAD'S COLLISION CENTER ( 22202 N. 19TH AVE., PHOENIX, AZ 85027 ), IN THE AFTERNOON, TO HAVE THE LATCH LOOKED AT, AND CONFIRM MY CONCLUSION THAT IT HAD FAILED. THE INSPECTOR AGREED ( COMMENTING THAT THIS FAILURE WAS "VERY RARE" ). AT THIS POINT, I MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE LATCH REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT, TO BE DONE ON 11/13/15. THE DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED. A COPY OF THE REPAIR ORDER IS INCLUDED. THE FAILED REAR DOOR LATCH WAS RETURNED TO ME, AND I WILL STORE IT, IN THE EVENT THAT THE NHTSA WOULD WANT IT / NEED IT, TO PERFORM A FAILURE ANALYSIS.

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING AND VIBRATING RANDOMLY IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

I PURCHASE CHEVY HHR IN GOOD CONDITIONS UNTIL I GOT ON THE FREEWAY. AS I WAS IMMERGING IN TO THE FREEWAY THE ACCELORATOR GOT STUCK ON 6RPM AND WAS SPEEDING 60MPH I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE BRAKES DIDNT GO DOWN AT ALL. IT WAS ALL LOCKED UP MY KIDS AND I FREAK OUT WITH THE SPEED THAT THE CAR WAS PICKING UP AND HOW THE BREAKS WERENT WORKING I DECIDED TO USE THE EMERGENCY HANDDLE AND SOME SIDE BUSHES TO SLOW DOWN THE CAR AND NOTHING WORKED! I CHECKED TO SEE IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON AND NOTHING THEN I CHECKED TO SEE IF IT WAS ON DRIVE IT WAS THE I PUSHED HARD ON THE BREAKS BUT NEVER ONCE IT WENT DOWN AT ALL IT WAS SO HARD I FORCE MY FOOT SO MUCH AND THE BREAK HANDDLE EMERGED OFF THE FREEWAY AND IMMEDIATELY HIT SOMETHING MORE SOLID TO STOP THE CAR. IT WAS THEN WE HEADED TO A BUILDING BUT I HIT A PALM TREE. THE CAR EXPLODED BLACK SMOKE AND THE AIREBAGS WENT OFF THE FRONT DOOR DIDNT OPEN AND MY DAUGHTER AND I JUMP OFF THROUGH THE SMALL LITTLE WINDOWS. WE THANK GOD WE ARE ALIVE!! MY TWO KIDS 11 AND 8 COULD HAVE DIED W ME IN THAT VEHICLE IF I DIDNT EXIT THE FREEWAY BEFORE THE CAR KEPT PICKING UP SPEED. WAS A VERY SCARY SITUATION. I WOULD NEVER EVER RIDE A CHEVY HHR OR ANY OTHER CHEVY AS I LIVE. THE CAR IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED IN THE FRONT AND THE WINDOWS ARE CRACKED.
