THE CAR WAS NOT WELDED CORRECTLY. A PIECE THAT CONNECTS THE RACK AND PINION TO THE FRAME BECAME DISCONNECTED AND THE CAR WILL NOT TURN IT WILL ONLY DRIVE STRAIGHT. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK TRYING TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY. GM CORPORATION REFUSES TO FIX THE CAR BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. MR

CLUNKS, THUNKS AND POPS FELT THROUGH STEERING COLUMN WHILE ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. MOST NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEEDS. I'M IN GERMANY (ARMY) WITH THE CAR. WE USE AAFES. THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE PROBLEM, THOUGH THEY DID CONFIRM ITS EXISTENCE IN MAR '03. GERMAN MECHANIC DIAGNOSED LOWER BALL JOINT ON RIGHT SIDE. AAFES REPLACE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON BOTH SIDES. THAT FIXED THE BALL JOINTS WHICH HAD GONE BAD AT 37,000 MILES (OUT OF WARRANTY). STILL FEEL CLUNKS, THUNKS, AND POPS THROUGH STEERING COLUMN. SUSPECT INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT LUBRICATION PROBLEM. WILL TAKE TO OPEL FOR INSPECTION. *LA

AT 40 MPH VEHICLE REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. DRIVER SUFFERED INJURIES TO HEAD/KNEE AND ANKLE. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE UNKNOWN. *AK JLG
PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM AT 18K MILES. *PH THE BRAKES BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND HUM, THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS CAME ON WHICH STATED THERE WAS AN ABS AND TRACTION PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND A THERE WAS A SENOR PROBLEM. THE REAR WHEEL SENOR WAS SHOWING A PROBLEM WHICH RESULTED FROM THE LEFT FRONT STRUT, WHERE CONNECTOR C101 AND CONNECTOR C045 WIRES PASSED INTO THE TRUNK UNDER THE CARPET. THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS. THE CONSUMER ALSO EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. *JB
LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON WHILE TRAVELING. VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT GASKET AROUND INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS LEAKING. VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. CONSUMER INSISTED THAT PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRED. *AK JLG
CONSUMER APPLIED ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT 35 MPH, AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. PLEASE ADD FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC COVERS ON THE HEADLIGHTS HAD BECOME FROSTED AND YELLOW IN COLOR. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO BUY NEW HEADLIGHT COVERS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 143,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
VEHICLE WOULD HAVE HARD START PROBLEMS, AND WOULD STALL OUT AT ANY TIME WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TOOK IN & WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD REPROGRAM COMPUTER, OTHER PROBLEMS W CAR, BRAKES WOULD WEAR OUT EVERY MONTH, ODOMETER READING INCORRECTLY. DEALER NO WILLING TO WORK ON VEHICLE UNLESS A CASH DEPOSIT WAS MADE. FINALLY TOOK VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT PROBLEMS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. CAR IN SHOP FOR 1 WEEK, AND AFTER RETURN OF CAR THE SAME PROBLEMS BEGAN OCCURRING, WITH THE STALLING, FINALLY OCCOASIONALLYWAS WHEN SON DRIVING ON FREEWAY CAR DIED WHILE GOING 65MPH. SON HAD TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART VEHICLE . THEN FINALLY AFTER 1 WEEK TRANSMISSION DROPPED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD VARIOUS PROBLEMS SINCE DATE OF PURCHASE AND DEALERS ARE UNABLE TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS.*AK
AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARS ON DASHBOARD UNTIL TURNING VEHICLE OFF. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT WHEEL DRIVE EFFORT. THE CONSUMER HAS HAD AND ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING OF THE VEHICLE. MEETINGS WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF GM HAS ALREADY TAKEN PLACE, BUT THE STEERING SYSTEM HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONSUMER WAS DISCOURAGED AND WANTS FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS. *CB THE CONSUMER HAD SEVERE PAINS IN HIS AND FINGERS AND HANDS FROM TRYING TO STEER THE VEHICLE. *JB
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND WAS HIT IN THE DRIVERS DOOR AND LEFT FRONT, THE SIDE IMPACT WAS SO INTENSE THAT THE DASH BOARD WAS COLLAPSED AND BOTH FRONT SEATS WERE MOVED. NEITHER THE FRONT OR DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED.*AK
ROLLING BACKWARDS AT A STOP.SHAKING/SHIMMYING OF STEERING WHEEL--HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS/BRAKES AT MY OWN EXPENSE BECAUSE WARRANTY EXPIRES AT 36,000.I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE MODULE BECAUSE IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING,THE PISTONS/RINGS AND THE ABS SYSTEM WAS ALSO MALFUNCTIONING--STILL AT MY OWN EXPENSE.NOW,I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY STEERING AND FRONT END MAKING CLUNKING NOISES.I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 17,500 OR SO ON IT,AND NOW 24,000 MILES OR SO LATER I'M SPENDING A FORTUNE ON THE UPKEEP OF AN APPARENT LEMON.SURE WISH CHEVY WOULD DO SOMETHIN ABOUT IT INSTEAD OF GIVING US THE RUN-AROUND. AS I PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION - TURN THE KEY - A LOUD BANG CAME FROM THE CAR - WHEN I LOOKED OUT OF THE WINDOW SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD - SO, I POP THE HOOD, EXIT THE CAR, LIFTED THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE WAS IN FLAMES - CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PUT THE FIRE OUT - FIREMEN STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE.
CONSUMER PUT KEYS IN IGNITION, TURNED THE KEYS, AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE, AND SAW SMOKING COMING FROM OUT THE HOOD, ENGINE HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK *YH
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE, THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR BAG SENSOR. *JB
ROTORS WARPED AT 16,054 MILES. DEALER RESURFACED ROTORS AND SANDED PADS. ROTORS WARPED AGAIN AT 29502 MILES. DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. AT 38735 MILES I TOOK CAR TO DEALER WITH COMPLAINT OF A BUMPING SENSATION IN THE STEERING MOSTLY WHEN TURNING. SER. MGR. REPORTED THAT IMPALAS HAVE HAD INTERMEDIATE STEERING PROBLEMS, BUT MECHANIC REPORTEDLY FOUND NO SUCH PROBLEMS, HOWEVER, HE FOUND THAT ROTORS WERE AGAIN OUT OF ROUND. ROTORS WERE RESURFACED AND PADS WERE SCUFFED. THIS DID NOT HELP THE BUMPING SENSATION IN THE STEERING. FEEL THAT CHEVROLET KNOWS THEY HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH ROTORS AND STEERING, BUT NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN OFFERED TO ME.*AK
WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE, MANUFACTURER'S LIABILTY ECT. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. *JB
WHEN MAKING TURNS THERE IS A CRACKING AND POPPING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. DEALER DETERMINED ENGINE CRADLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. HOWEVER, CHEVROLET STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE AT THIS TIME, THEY WERE WORKING ON A SOLUTION.*AK
THERE ARE TWO: ONE: A/C "OVERFLOW CATCH TRAP" COLLECTS WATER AND DOES NOT DRAIN, CAUSING MOLDY SMELL AND REQUIRES CLEANING OUT OF "TRAP" TWO: FRONT END BRAKES "WOBBLE" - TOOK IN 3 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY TO HAVE FIXED AND ONCE HAD TO PAY AT 12K MILES TO HAVE TO HAVE ROTORS REPLACED. OTHERWISE REPLIED TO AS "NORMAL". STILL WOBBLES (I WOULD NOT DESCRIBE AS THE EXPECTED "PULSING") - NEVER COMPLETELY SATISFIED AT ANY TIME REPORTED. NOW OF WARRANTY (OF COURSE) BUT WHO HAS TIME TO KEEP TAKING THE CAR BACK IN? *NLM
SECONDARY AIR PUMP KEEPS SHORTING AND HAVING TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AND IS SCHEDULED FOR A FOURTH TIME.*JB
THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL WHEN CONSUMER IS TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. CONTACTED DEALER, AND AFTER THREE TRIES DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE. *AK DEALER HAS REPLACED THE STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY AND THE STEERING GEAR. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. CRUISE CONTROL WAS INOPERABLE.
INTERMEDIATE SHAFT IS POPPING AT ALL SPEEDS. I DON'T WANT THEM TO JUST GREASE IT, I WANT THEM TO REPLACE IT. I ALSO WANT IT TO BE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WON'T COVER IT BECAUSE IT IS JUST A LUBE JOB. IT IS NOT JUST A NORMAL LUBE. IT HAS TO BE REMOVE THEN DISASSEMBLED THEN GREASED AND REASSEMBLED.*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, VEHICLE WILL START TO SHAKE AND THERE WILL BE AN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AT ANY SPEED. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALER, AND IT TOOK DEALER THREE TIMES BEFORE THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHEN MAKING TURNS IN EITHER DIRECTION, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND. DEALER MODIFIED STEERING GEAR SHAFT PINION BY INSTALLING A LARGER PIN. THEN, REPLACED GEAR STEERING SHAFT PINION, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK *YH
CAR WON'T START, TAKES QUITE A FEW TRIES. DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN, ALSO WILL JUST STALL. FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WAS REPLACE, BUT HAS HAPPENED SINCE, ALSO HAVE REPLACED THROTTLE OUT OF WARRANTY. *NM
AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES, INDICATING A MALFUNCTION WITH SYSTEM. DEALER CANNOT CORRECT OR INDENTIFY CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION AND THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE IGNITION COMPONENTS IN THE FIREWALL AREA OVERLOADED OR SHORTED OUT RAPIDLY WHICH CAUSED THE PLASTIC COVER AND PARTS AROUND IT TO INCINERATE. POSSIBLE FUEL LEAK, HOSES, OR SEALS DAMAGED BY EXPLOSION IGNITING FUEL. GENERAL MOTORS OFFERED TO REPLACE VEHICLE. INSTEAD SETTLED CLAIM. REPLACED NEW IMPALA. *JB *CB *JB
CLUNKING NOISE IN FRONT END, FEELS LOOSE. DEALER CHECKED AND VERIFIED THAT SNAPPING FEELING IN THE STEERING WHEEL, REMOVE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FROM INSPECTION FOR PROPER LUBE, WILL REQUIRE SHAFT LUBE, NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE, THERE IS A SOFT AUDIBLE CLUNK IN FRONT END NOT FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL DURING PARKING LOT TEST DRIVE, INSPECT FRONT SUSPENSION CRADDLE , OLD STYLE WELDS, ORDERED FRONT CRADDLE, ORDERED GREASE KIT, WAITING FOR INFORMATION REGARDING CRADLE REPLACEMENT.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED, INDICATING A MALFUNCTION. DEALER REPLACED AIR BAG SENSOR. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
THE SHIFT LEVER FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. *YD
ON MAY 15, 01 TOOK VEHICLE TO A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER IN REFERENCE TO THE HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM MY WHEELS. THEY FOUND RIGHT FRONT STRUT WAS BOTTOMING OUT AND COLLAPSING WITH HITTING BUMP AND LEFT FRONT HUB BEARING WAS ROARING. BOTH OF THESE WHERE REPLACED AT NO COST AS VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARANTY. I ASKED ABOUT THE REAR WHEELS AND WAS TOLD THEY WHERE FINE. ON THIS DATE NOVEMBER 05,01 ONLY 6 MONTHS LATER I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALER IN MY AREA FOR THE SAME THING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED IN THE FIRST PLACE. THIS TIME THEY FOUND RIGHT REAR BEARING AND HUB WAS BAD. THIS WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF 544.60. DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE I ONLY HAD TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE PAID ANYTHING HAD THIS BEEN FIXED IN THE FIRST PLACE. I ALSO HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE AS THIS PROBLEM CAUSED MY TIRE TO BE CUPPED IN THE INSIDE AND THEREFORE I STILL HAVE THE HUMMING NOISE EVEN THOUGH PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. I HAVE TWO MORE WHEELS TO GO, ANY SUGGESTIONS?
WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR HESITATES. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS ON THE SECOND OR THIRD START. HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY REROUTED SOME WIRES ON 10/9/01, IT HAPPENED AGAIN 10/12/01. HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TWO TIMES SINCE. THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID TO PUT MY KIDS IN THIS CAR. I CALLED CHEVY AND WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND. FINALLY THEY ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR AND THAT THEY WERE WORKING ON A FIX. AND THEN TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL THEY COULD SEE IT HAPPEN FOR THEMSELVES. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, BUT I CAN TELL YOU I DON'T TRUST THE CAR AND DO NOT WANT TO PUT MY KIDS IN IT.*AK

CLUNK NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE DURING TURNING MANEUVERS-CAN NOW FEEL A VIBRATION IN STEERING WHILE DRIVING-THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM SATISFACTORILY. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING AT 35MPH UP A BRIDGE, VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING, REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH.
I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME. I HAVE A COMPLAINT I'D LIKE TO REGISTER WITH YOU ABOUT THE WARRANTY OF A CAR MADE BY CHEVROLET. THE VIN (VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER) IS [XXX]. I AM UNABLE TO FILL MY CAR WITH GAS AT A PRESSURIZED GAS PUMP WHICH IS BASICALLY AT ALL GAS STATIONS. AT TIMES I'VE HAD TO GO INSIDE THE GAS STATION JUST TO PURCHASE A GAS CAN SO I WOULD BE ABLE TO FILL MY CAR WITH GAS. I'VE HAD MY CAR IN FOR REPAIRS 3 TIMES AND NEXT WEEK WILL BE THE FORTH. CHEVROLET HAS BEEN CALLED SEVERAL TIMES CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. IN FACT THEY ARE REFUSING TO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAVE DECLARED THIS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO FIX IT. THAT IS UNTRUE. THE DESIGN OF THE GAS TANK IS WHAT IS AT FAULT AND CHEVROLET WILL NOT ACCEPT THAT. HERE'S WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU DO TO PROVIDE RESOLUTION: I WOULD LIKE CHEVROLET TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND THAT THIS IS NOT AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE AS I'VE BEEN REPEATEDLY TOLD IT IS. COULD THERE POSSIBLY BE A NEW DESIGN MADE TO THE VALVE AND CANNISTER AREA AS I FEEL THIS WOULD REMEDY OUR PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROMPT ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. 2000 CHEVROLET IMPALA INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT FAILURE. DEFECTIVE STEERING PART THAT CHEVROLET REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND FIX. REPLACED PART IN 2001, REPLACED PART IN 2002, FILLED PART WITH GREASE IN 2003. THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REDESIGNED AND PROVIDED TO ALL CUSTOMERS THAT PURCHASED THESE VEHICLES AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. *LA
MY TRANSMISSION IN MY 2000 IMPALA IS GONE ,MILEAGE UNDER 22,000, DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING TRANSMISSION, I CONTACTED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT THEY OFFER ME A TRANSMISSION COMPONENT LETTER WARRANTY FOR 5 YR OR 60,000 MLES WHATEVER COME FIRST, I AM UPSET THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION WITH A SERTA TRANSMISSION , THATS WHY I CONTACTED GMC THEY OFFER THIS LETTER HAS CUSTOMER SATIFACTION , I QUESS I HAVE TO OTHER CHOSE BUT TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTY LETTTER , BECAUSE IT WILL COVER THE SERTA TRANSMISSION. *AK
AT APPROXIMATELY 1815 23 AUGUST 2001, HER GRANDSON ENTERED THE LEFT PASSENGER SEAT, CLIMBED INTO THE FRONT SEAT OVER THE CONSOLE SLIPPED AGAINST THE SHIFTING LEVER (ON THE STEERING COLUMN) WITH HIS RIGHT ELBOW. THE CAR STARTED MOVING. HE TRIED TO STOP THE CAR BY PUSHING ON THE "MIDDLE" PEDAL. HE STATED HE COULDN'T STOP THE CAR AND THAT IT HIT A TREE ON THE RIGHT FENDER, BOUNCED OVER AND INTO THE DITCH, AND KEPT GOING INTO ANOTHER DITCH. THE SECOND DITCH (THE ADJACENT YARDS OF THE THREE PROPERTIES INVOLVED WERE DOWNHILL SLOPES.), THE LEFT WHEELS HIT A SLIGHT EMBANKMENT, TURNING THE CAR TO THE LEFT, SLOWING THE VEHICLE SOME. A NEIGHBOR MOVING HIS LAWN WAS PERSUING THE CAR, AND STATED HE INSTRUCTED THE BOY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, WHILE STILL IN MOTION AND WHEN THE BOY COMPLIED, OPENED THE DOOR AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE CAR HIT A CEDAR POST AND BIRD FEEDER BEFORE BEING STOPPED.THERE WERE NO KEYS IN THE CAR. THE NIEGHBOR STATED HE TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK THE WHEELS BUT IT DIDN'T LOCK. THE BOY LATER COMPLAINED OF A HEADACHE AND WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND TREATED FOR A MILD CLOSED HEAD INJURY. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED, AND WERE ADVISED TO NOTIFY/DEALER/MANUFACTURER. NO POLICE REPORT WAS MADE OUT AS IT ALL WAS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. WE TESTED THE SHIFTING COLUMN, AND WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, OR PUTTING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, I COULD VERY EASILY MOVE THE SHIFT LEVEL TO ALL GEARS. AFTER REPORTING THE INCIDENT TO SVC MANAGER MONT.CHEV. EDDIE MILLS 1130 24 AUGUST 01, HE ADVISED ME TO CALL 1-800-222-1020.

ACCELERATOR STICKS, ENGINE WILL NOT SLOW DOWN, WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE TO APPROX 45 MPH THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IS HOLD ON THE BRAKES UNTILL YOU CAN SHUT THE CAR OFF, THIS WAS HAPPENING INTERMITTANTLY AT FIRST NOW IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME. *AK
