FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARPED AT APPRX CAUSEING SREERWHEEL AND FRONT END SHAKE WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLYED PADS WERE IN PERFECT CONDITION,DEALER SAID WAS BAD DRIVING HABITS,ROTARS NEED TO BE TURNED OR REPLACED.PADS SHOLD HAVE SHOWN MORE WEAR AND PREVIOUS CARS HAD NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN SO WAS NOT DRIVING HADITS,MAJORITY OF MILES WERE HIGHWAY MILES.*AK
INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAINS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, BUT IS UNABLE TO LOCATE SOURCE OF PROBLEM BY COMPUTER. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
TOOK THE CAR IN AT 7K MILES REGARDING THE THUMP NOISE IN THE FRONT END. SHIMS WERE ADDED WHICH CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. AT 28K MILES I TOOK IT IN AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED REPLACEMENT. GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM SINCE SEVERAL IMPALA'S ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AT 30K MILES. THE MNAUFACTURER IS NOT IN BUSINESS AND I WAS TOLD THEIR "TECHNICHANS AT GM ARE WORKING ON THE PROBLEM". I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE A DATE WHEN THE NEW PARTS WOULD BE IN TO FIX MY CAR. WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE DRIVING, THERE IS NO DANGER IN DRIVING WITH A BROKEN RACK AND PINION. AFTER FILING THE COMPLAINT I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THE PART WILL BE IN IN APPROX 3 WEEKS. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER WITH GM AS I FEEL DRIVING THE CAR BROKEN IS ENDANGERING MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY CHILDS. THEY ARE CORRECTING THE PROBLEM IN THE 2001 MODEL BUT SEEM TO NOT BE CONCERNED ON GETTING REPEAT CUSTOMERS.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THERE IS HIGH EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND HOLD THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD CAUSING PAIN IN THE JOINTS OF THE HANDS, WISTS, ELBOWS AND SHOULDERS SOCKET RESULTING CRIPPLING OF FINGERS AND ARMS. HE FURTHER STATES IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY STEERING EFFORT IS THE LACK OF INDENTATIONS ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE STEERING WHEELS. GM NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *TT THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS LOST THE ABILITY TO CARRY THINGS IN HIS HANDS. *JB
THE STEERING WHEEL DESIGN PUTS OFF CENTER PRESSURE ON THE JOINTS OF THE FINGERS, CAUSING SERIOUSLY TWISTED/DISTORED JOINTS AND BONES IN FINGERS, WHICH AREN'T APPARENT ON EXTENDED FINGERS. PLEASE CALL, THIS IS A SLEEPER. *AK
WHEN ATTEMPTED TO STOP ON INCLINE HILL, AND LET BRAKE PEDAL GO, VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARD WITHOUT A PRIOR WARNING. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IT. PLEASE CONSUMER PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE TRYING TO TURN THE A/C BLOWER DOWN,THE CONSUMER BY MISTAKE TURNED THE IGNITION OFF BECAUSE THE DESIGN OF THE TWO SWITCHES WERE VERY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. *YH
THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE RECALL C01035-S PERFORMED AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 15 MIN, THE CONSUMER SAT IN THE DEALER FOR 1.75 HOURS BEFORE THE WORK WAS COMPLETE, THE CONSUMER WAS LED TO BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS BEING PERFORMED, IT WASNOT UNTIL THE CONSUMER READ THE INVOICE THAT SHE REALIZED THAT IT WAS NOT DONE, THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE THE NECESSARY PART FOR REPAIR IS NOT AVAILABLE. WHEN VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE SPEED OF 35 MPH, THERE WAS A SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END. *JB
VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A CLICKING NOISE WHENEVER A TURN WAS MADE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS BROKEN. REPAIRS MADE BY DEALER. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER.*AK
THE PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED AFTER THIS SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY WAS BENT IS THE SAFETY ISSUE I AM CONCERNED WITH. WHEN THIS ASSEMBLY GETS BENT IT SMASHES THE POWER STEERING LINES IN THE FRAME WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE POWER STEERING HOSES TO REACH A HIGH ENOUGH PRESSURE TO EXPLODE AND YOU LOOSE YOUR POWER STEERING. WHAT I AM CONCERNED WITH IS SOMEONE TRAVELING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT SAY 70 MPH AND HITTING A POT HOLE AND THIS SUB FRAME FAILING AND AT THIS TIME LOSING YOUR POWER STEERING.*AK
ENGINE CRADLE IS OUT OF POSITION, CAUSING TIRES TO BECOME MISALIGNED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, BUT REFUSES TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT 65MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CAME ACROSS HIGHWAY AND HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ON DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DEAD CENTER. SIDE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. *AK *SLC
FRONT OF VEHICLE WAS RATTLING WHEN MAKING TURNS AT SLOW SPEED. DEALER REPLACED ENGINE CRADLE. IN AUGUST OF 2001 RATTLING RETURNED. DEALER REPLACED STEERING UPPER SHAFT.*AK
VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN IN TO DEALER 7 TIMES TO GET AIR BAG LIGHT FIXED BECAUSE LIGHT WILL CONTINUOUSLY COME ON. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER CANNOT FIND A REMEDY.
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING FOR 1 HOUR AND 10 MINUTES AND GOT OFF HIGHWAY WHEN VEHICLE STALLED OUT SUDDENLY AND COULD NOT RESTART. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. BUT, DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE CAUSE AT THIS TIME. *AK FOR THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE GM ADVISED, THE CAUSE WAS THE WIRE HARNESS WHICH DEALER INSTALLED. *YH
AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY AND MOMENTARILY COME ON WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE BEEN TO DEALER ON FIVE OCCASIONS, AND PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED. *AK *YH
MOST SERIOUS PROBLEMS ARE STALLING AND ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THERE WAS PULSATION AND STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING. DEALER REPLACED WARPED FRONT ROTORS, AND UNEVENLY WORN OUT FRONT PADS AT 18046 MILES. ON 9 AUGUST, 2001, DEALER TURNED FRONT ROTORS FOR SAME PROBLEM.*AK *JB
THERE IS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND IN VEHICLE WHENEVER BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT ANY SPEED. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND WAS INFORMED THAT ROTORS WERE WARPED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 12 WEEKS THAT MY NEW VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK

HEATER IS ON AND EVERYTHING HEATS UP TO POINT WHERE IT IS UNBEARABLE TO TOUCH. CAN BURN YOUR FINGER IF TOUCHING IT.*AK
ENGINE CRADLE/UNDERCARRIAGE DEFECTIVE/ THIS ADVERSLY AFFECTS POWER STEERING. ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER TWO MONTHS SPAN. DEALER CAN'T REPLICATE STALL AND THEREFORE CANT FIX. I AM TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I WILL NOT DRIVE UNTIL PROBLEM IS FIXED. EACH STALL HAS OCCURRED IN HOT WEATHER AND ON HIGHWAY AND IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THERE IS A NOISE. ROTORS WERE TURNED AT 5000 MILES. BRAKING DISTANCE WAS OKAY. CURRENTLY, ROTORS NEED EITHER TO BE TURNED OR REPLACED.*AK
UPON COLD STARTING, VEHICLE EXPERIENCES SEVERE HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION AND SURGING OF THE ENGINE'S RPM'S, ON ONE OCCASION VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND DESPITE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE, CONSUMER TURNED OFF THE KEY AND RESTARTED VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE BLOCKING TRAFFIC, DEALER UPDATED THE SOFTWARE CALIBRATION, HOWEVER THIS DID NOT HELP PROBLEM. WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH HEARD A NOISE, SOON AFTERWARDS VEHICLE WAS SHAKING OUT OF CONTROL. DEALER STATED THAT REAR TORQUE ARM AXLE HAS BROKEN. *AK THE LEFT REAR TORQUE ARM BROKE AT A THREAD JOINT, THE TORQUE ARM WAS HOLLOW AND HAD A SLIGHT BEND. *SLC
WE CONTACTED THE DEALER ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS,JUST GOT IGNORED. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED IN SUMMARY.*AK
WE WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE A CAR RAN A STOP SIGN AND WE HIT THEM BROADSIDE WITH THE FRONT OF OUR CHEVROLET IMPALA AT ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE PASSENGER SIDE SELT BELT CAME UNLATCHED.*AK

THIS IS A SAFETLY HAZARD AND THE CUSTMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPLACING A FAILTY PART AS AND AIR BAG CHIP. *AK
VEHICLE HAS ENOUGH GAS TO ACCELERATE. ONCE OUT IN THE OPEN IT HESITATES 5-8 SECONDS BEFORE MOVING AT ITS SPEED. DEALER PUT A BLACK BOX TO REGISTER PROBLEM, BUT NOTHING SHOWED UP. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT CONSUMER IS SCARED TO KEEP GOING THROUGH. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STILL HAVEN'T FOUND A REMEDY. PLEASE ADD VIN#.*AK

WHEN VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP STARTING TO ACCELERATE CONSUMER COULD STEP ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT VEHICLE WON'T MOVE. PEDAL COULD GO TO THE FLOOR, AND SOMETIMES HAD TO PUMP IT TO WORK. DEALER STATED THAT COULD BE COMPUTER RELATED. *AK
CAR ROLLS BACKWARD WHEN ENGINE RUNNING AND FOOT TAKEN OFF BRAKE TO GO FORWARD. REQUIRES THE BRAKE TO REMAIN ENGAGED AND GAS PEDAL PRESSED AT SAME TIME. MY ROLL BACKWARD IF NOT DONE WITH USING BOTH FEET. IT'S AN AUTOMATIC CAR TRANSMISSION. DEALERS DENY THIS IS A PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO CORRECT IT. PLEASE HELP.*AK
A FUEL SMELL COMING FROM UNDERNEATH HOOD AT START UP AND SHUT DOWN OF VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK

MY AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. HAD A FENDER BENDER IN JULY OF 2006, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I ASKED MECHANIC AT AUTO COLLISION SHOP IF BAGS LOOKED OK AND HE REPLIED THAT HE NOTED NO DEFECTS. LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON FOR YEARS NOW. *TR
SINCE SHORTLY AFTER CAR WAS PURCHASED THERE IS A NOTICEABLE CLUNKING/POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE CAR. THIS IS ESPECIALLY HEARD WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. ORIGINAL THOUGHT WAS THAT IT WAS EITHER AN ARM OR A JOINT. DEALER SAID IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM AND SUBSEQUENT COMPLAINTS HAVE RESULTED IN MY BEING TOLD IT WAS EITHER "IN MY STEERING COLUMN" (WHICH I FIND ODD SINCE THAT IS ON THE LEFT), OR A "NOISE THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING", OR "SOMETHING TYPICAL TO ALUMINUM ROCKERS", OR EVEN THAT IT WAS SOMETHING THEY HEARD MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT BUT IT WASN'T HURTING ANYTHING. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE IT WAS NEW IN NOVEMBER 2000 SO APPARENTLY THE NOISE IS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD, OR AT LEAST NOT TO ME, AND NOT YET. I REMAIN CONCERNED AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT ALMOST EACH TIME I TAKE IT IN TO THE MECHANIC FOR ANY OTHER WORK. TODAY THE LOCAL CHEVROLET REP OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF THE REPAIR COST TO DO SOMETHING TO THE STEERING WHICH THEY THINK IS THE CAUSE, BUT WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR SOMETHING THEIR CAR DOES THAT IT SHOULD NOT? BESIDES, I DON'T THINK A RIGHT FRONT TIRE AREA NOISE IS MUCH RELATED TO THE STEERING. INCIDENT DATE IS SINCE SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR. *JB
VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH HESITATION WHEN APPLYING ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM A STOP POSITION. VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER'S SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
HAVE REPEATEDLY NOTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED THAT MY REMOTE ENTRY SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. I CAN ONLY OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR OR THE TRUNK--RARELY ABLE TO OPEN BOTH THE DRIVER DOOR AND PASSENGER DOOR EVEN WITH REPEATED ATTEMPTS. I FEEL THE SENSORS ARE NOT WORKING BUT THE DEALERSHIP BRUSHES THE SITUATION UNDER THE RUG AND NEVER ADDRESSES THE PROBLEM. IN TODAYS WORLD IT BECOMES DANGEROUS AT TIMES TO NOT BE ABLE TO ENTER VEHICLE PROMPTLY--NOT TO MENTION IT IS A REAL "PAIN IN THE BUTT" DURING A RAIN STORM.
WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER IS OF POOR DESIGN, VENTS ARE TOO SMALL TO DEFROST WINDSHIELD. CONSUMER HAS TO STOP, GET OUT, AND CLEAR WINDSHIELD. BEEN TO DEALER TWICE, CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
MY FINGERS DEVELOPED CURVATURES AND TWISTED KNUCKLES. I DEVELOPED LOWER BACK PAIN. SHOULDER PAIN. NECK PAIN. CARPAL TUNNEL. SCIATIC PAIN. REQUIRED PHYSICAL THERAPY BECAUSE I COULD NOT LIFT MY ARM ABOVE SHOULDER HEIGHT. THE STIFF "HIGH EFFORT" STEERING WAS RESULTING IN MY BODY GENERATING FORCES TO OVERCOME THE RESISTANCE OF THE STEERING SYSTEM WHICH WERE RESULTING IN SHOCK LOADS TO MY SKELETAL SYSTEM JOINTS AND BONES. OTHER DRIVERS OF THE STIFF STEERING CHEVROLET IMPALA, SATURN'S, PONTIAC GRAND AM, PICK UP TRUCKS ALL EXPERIENCE THE SAME DEFORMITIES WITH HAND/FINGER FUNCTIONAL LOSSES. *TR UPDATED 05/27/10.*JB
