EXTERIOR HAZARD WARNING LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE CONSUMER COULD HEAR NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEEL. FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING FAILED. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING ALSO FAILED AT 38,600. *AK
I'M GETTING A "POP" AND "KLUNK" IN THE FRONT END. I WAS TOLD BY AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE PERSON THAT THE RACK AND PINION WAS GOING BAD. I HAVE TALKED TO MY LOCAL GM DEALER, AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE A RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT. MY CAR HAS ONLY 45K ON IT, HARD TO BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING IMPORTANT AS STEERING IS GOING BAD IN LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. I DON'T FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO REPLACE IT AT MY EXPENSE, WHEN IT SEEMS TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT. *NM
2001 CHEVY\ROLET IMPALA, 64,000 MILES, PURCHASED MAY 2001, NO PROBLEMS UNTIL 8/3/2004-- VEHICLE MADE GRINDING/METAL SOUND, QUIT MOVING ON BUSY 4-LANE ROAD IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID TRANSMISSION IS SHOT AND MUST BE REPLACED, IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY QUOTED ME $3500 TO REPLACE IT. NOW IT IS AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP TO BE REBUILT. NO WORD YET ON HOW EXTENSIVE THE REPAIR WILL BE. *AK
REFERENCE # 10086513 THE DEALER TODAY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AT NO COST TO ME. I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE GIVEN HIM MORE OF A CHANCE. I MUST HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD HIS INTENTIONS. I AM SATISFIED AND AM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THE DEALER'S ATTITUDE. *JB
MY TURN SIGNALS DO NOT RUN PROPERLY. THEY WORK AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. THE HAZARDS WORK THEN THEY DON'T'. AT TIMES WHEN YOU MOVE THE TURN SIGNALS BACK AND FORTH OR YOU TURN THE HAZARDS ON AND OFF, IT MIGHT MAKE THE TURN SIGNALS WORK OK, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY TURN SIGNALS THAT WORK CORRECTLY FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. *JB
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN RECALL 00V244000. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT INADVERTENTLY ILLUMINATED. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
THE VEHICLE HAD A SLOW LEAKING HEAD GASKET ON THE FRONT STARBOARD SIDE OF THE ENGINE. *NM *NM
WHILE DRIVING 42 MPH THE VEHICLE (POLICE PACKAGE) CRASHED INTO A UTILITY POLE. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE FRACTURES TO BOTH LEGS. *JB *SC
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS SEDAN WITH ONLY 18K MILES ON IT. IT IS NOW EXPERIENCING A 'CLUNKING' IN THE STEERING. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER YESTERDAY, HE SAID (1) IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, AND (2) SINCE I AM 6 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, REPAIR WOULD BE AT MY COST! HE SAID THE PROBLEM WAS A MINOR ONE, SOME $200.00 TO FIX (WITH GREASE?) , NOT TO WORRY ABOUT ANY DANGER, ETC. SINCE I WANT THE PROBLEM FIXED, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SAME. SINCE YESTERDAY, I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS PROBLEM INDEED IS VERY SERIOUS, BUT THAT GM IS IGNORING IT, AND HAS NOT ISSUED ANY RECALL(S) FOR THE PROBLEM. I FEEL VERY STRONGLY (1) THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE THERE ARE MANY CASES OF 'LOCKED' STEERING RESULTING IN CRASHES, (2) AND THAT GM SHOULD FIX THIS KNOWN PROBLEM UNDER AN 'IMPLIED WARRANTY' SCENARION. OTHERWISE, MY IMPALA MIGHT INDEED CRASH HURTING OR KIILLING US. I INTEND TO DEMAND THAT AN GM AREA REPRESENTATIVE CONTACT ME SOONEST TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND WHAT GM WILL DO FOR ME. I HAVE DOCUMENTED MY SITUATION AND AM GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO MY LAWYER FOR LEGAL ACTIONS IN CASE SOMETHINGS BAD DEVELOP FROM THIS DOCUMENTED DEFECT. BATTERY DEAD AFTER 7 DAYS LEFT AT AIRPORT. REPLACED BATTERY, BUT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER SITTING IN DRIVEWAY 6 DAYS. NOTICED A .4AMP DRAIN ON BATTERY WITH EVERTHING OFF. WILL TAKE TO DEALER BUT I DON'T EXPECT MUCH FROM THEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND TURNING EITHER TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD CLANKING NOISE, THE DEALER INSPECTED THE V SEVERAL TIMES THE STEERING SHAFT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *SC
TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS LIT WHEN CAR IS PUT IN REVERSE.. THERE IS NO WHEEL SPIN WHEN THIS HAPPENS. ALSO VEHICLE STALLS AT IDLE, WHINING NOISE ON ACCELERATION DEALER SAYS COULD BE INTAKE GASKET LEAKING.. WILL NOT REPLACE . DEALER SAYS COMPUTER TEST SHOWS NO PROBLEM. SMELL OF ANTI-FREEZE IN CABIN AT INTERMITTENT TIMES. CANNOT LOCATE LEAK. *AK

POWER STEERING RACK HAD TO BE REPLACED ON VEHICLE.*MR THE CONSUMER FEELS THE VEHICLE RACK SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED SINCE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 43000 MILES ON IT. *NM
INCIDENT, CAR WILL NOT START. OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS WHEN KEY IS INSERTED INTO IGNITION THE CAR WILL NOT START. SECURITY LIGHT FLASHES AND I WILL GET LOCKED OUT FOR TEN MINUTES. THERE IS NO WARNING AS TO WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN, ONE DAY IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES. THAT'S 40 MINUTES LOCKED OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MECHANICS WHO SAID THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, SOME WANTED TO CHARGE $400 TO LOOK INTO IT. WHEN I ASKED A CHEVY DEALER ABOUT IT THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO KNOWN FIX. ONE DEALER SAID INSTALL A REMOTE STARTER, BUT IT MAY NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS ALOT WHEN IT IS HOT AND HUMID, BUT CAN ALSO HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME. *TR

THE TURNING SIGNAL AND HAZARD FLASHING WARNING LIGHT FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
OUR 2001 CHEVY IMPALA HAS HAD BRAKE AND ROTOR PROBLEMS SINCE THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES. THE ROTORS WERE CUT TWICE AND REPLACED ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR PULSATES WHEN REDUCING SPEED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN BRAKING. WE JUST SPENT $1,449 AT THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER TO HAVE THE ROTORS ONCE AGAIN REPLACED AND BRAKES REPLACED ALONG WITH THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AS THE VEHICLE HAS 65,000 MILES. THERE IS NO REASON BRAKE ROTORS SHOULD HAVE TO BE CUT OR REPLACED EVERY 6,000 MILES. THERE IS NO REASON THAT THE BRAKES SHOULD HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. THERE HAS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DESIGN DEFECT AND THE CAR MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THESE EXPENSES. *LA
MY HUSBAND SAID THAT HIS CAR WAS DRIVING POORLY FOR ABOUT A MONTH OR SO BEFORE IT BROKE DOWN ON A BUSY ROAD. SINCE THIS IS THE THIRD CHEVROLET TRANSMISSION TO BREAK DOWN ON BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I WE KNEW THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. AS A RESULT WE WERE WITHOUT A CAR FOR ABOUT A WEEK. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT BUT THERE VERY WELL COULD HAVE BEEN. THE CAR JUST DIED AT A RED LIGHT. CHEVROLET REPLACED THIS TRANSMISSION WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION,BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY ON THE REBUILT PART WAS FOR ONLY 90 DAYS. LAST YEAR WHEN WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BE REPLACED ON MY 1997 VENTURE AFTER ONLY 52,000 MILES THE WARRANTY GIVEN WAS FOR ONE YEAR. *AK
CONSUMER WASS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION WHILE VEHICLE WASS IN GEAR. *AK THIS OCCURRED WITH THE GEAR SHIFT IN REVERSE AND THE IGNITION SWITCH IN ACCELERATION. THE KEY WAS EASILY REMOVED. *SC *JB
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED.THIS CAUSED POOR VISIBILITY TO THE DRIVER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. *AK
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS AND I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH IT RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THE SECURITY PASSLOCK SYSTEM IS EITHER NOT FUNCTIONING WELL OR IT'S DEFECTED, I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET FORUMS AND I FOUND OUT THAT ALMOST 70% OF PEOPLE THAT OWN IMPALAS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY GAVE ME AN ENORMOUS SUM FOR THE REPLACEMENT. WHY SHOULD THE BUYER PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTED WHEN THE MAJORITY OF THE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. GM IS AT FAULT HERE AND THE OWNERS HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I, AND MANY OTHERS, BELIEVE THAT IT IS NOT US AT FAULT, BUT GM SINCE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE HIGH FAILURE RATE OF THEIR PASSLOCK SYSTEM. MY QUESTION FOR YOU IS: WHY DIDN'T GM ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART? WHAT CAN THE OWNERS DO SO WE CAN INITIATE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM? *AK
IT STARTED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2003. A WEEK AFTER I HAD IT. IT WOULD NOT START AND THE BATTERY WAS NOT DEAD I THEN CALL THE DEALER AND AFTER ABOUT A HOUR I GOT IT STARTED AND TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD TO CLEAN THE CABLES AND THATS WHAT IT WAS. BUT AFTER A WEEK IT DID IT AGAIN EVERY TIME I GOT IN IT. IT WOULD NOT START BUT AFTER A WHILE IT WOULD START. SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY THEN SAID IT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH SO THEY REPLACED IT THEY SAID. SO ABOUT A MONTH WENT BY AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE THEN IT STARTED AGAIN. SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR A RADIATOR FLUSH BECAUSE IT KEEPED ON GETTING HOT WHICH IT STILL DOES AND I DID NOT TELL THEM ABOUT IT NOT STARTING BECAUSE IT ONLY DOES IT EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, BUT WHEN THEY WENT TO START IT, IT WOULD NOT START SO THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER THING AND THEY SAID IT WAS IN THE IGNITION AGAIN SO WE TOLD THEM ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE ALOT OF TROUBLE WITH THESE CARS ALL THE TIME. SO WE PAID $320.00 TO GET IT FIXED BUT IT ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO DO IT AGAIN. I JUST HAVE THIS FEELING THE WAY ITS ACTING. IT TAKES TO LONG TO TURN OVER AND WHEN IT DOES IT GRINDS LIKE I AM OVER STARTING IT. THE THING IS I LOVE MY CAR BUT I HAVE NOT EVEN HAD IT A YEAR YET. I JUST THINK THAT IF I HAVE TO PAY ALOT OF MONEY FOR A VEHICLE IT NEEDS TO BE RIGHT. *AK

WE BOUGHT A CHEVROLET IMPALA NEW IN 2001. WITHIN THREE YEARS WE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT SHUTDOWNS OF THE CAR. SEVERAL TIMES THE AUTO JUST QUIT ON EXPRESSWAYS, BUT GETTING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WE WOULD TURN THE KEY OFF AND THEN IT WOULD START PERFECTLY. THIS OCCURRED PERHAPS 5 TIMES IN THE FOLLOWING 3-4 YEARS. IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. FINALLY WE TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY HAD IT FOR 5 DAYS FINDING NOTHING WRONG. WE STARTED CALLING MECHANICS, CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS EXECUTIVE OFFICES (AN AMY GREEN) AND OTHER SOURCES. SEVERAL MECHANICS INFORMED ME TO HAVE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR REPLACED. I "FORCED" THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE IT AND HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM SINCE. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS A SHUT DOWN AT HIGH SPEEDS A SCARY PROPOSITION. WITH ALL OF GM'S CURRENT (2014) HANDLING OF DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, WE THOUGHT IT TIME TO COMMENT ON THIS ONE. OF COURSE ALL THIS GM WORK WAS AT OUR EXPENSE. I FOOLISHLY BOUGHT A NEW 2006 CHEV. DIESEL 2500 PICKUP AND HAD THE WHOLE BACK BRAKING SYSTEM RUST UP WITHIN 3 YEARS, BUT THAT'S A DIFFERENT STORY. *TR
2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA PURCHASED NEW. HAD TO REPLACE LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS AT 48,000. WARRANTY EXPIRES AT 36,000. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE. 3400 V6. DEALER OFFERS NO RECALL. CONSUMER MUST PAY THE PRICE. *LA
MY 2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA IS JERKING WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, FRONT END SOUNDS LIKE IT IS READY TO FALL APART,FRONT END WOBBLES WHEN DRIVING,KNOCKS WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE,TRANSMISSION BOGS WHEN SHIFTING BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY DROVE IT AND DECIDED A NEW STEERING SHAFT WOULD SOLVE ALL MY PROBLEMS, AMD GM IS ALSO AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND USED TO REPACE SHAFT BUT THAT GOT TOO EXPENSIVE SO NOW THEY HAVE A KIT TO LUBRICATE THE BEARING. MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT INCLUDED . STEERING IS ESSENTIAL IN A VEHICLE. I FIND THIS PROBLEM A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MYSELF,PASSENGERS, AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD WITH ME. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT FOR DOCUMENTATION. IF EVER THERE IS AN ACCIDENT RELATED TO THE STEERING ISSUE OF MY CAR I WANT THE COURTS TO KNOW THAT ALL WERE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM I WAS HAVING AND NOBODY WANTED TO FIX A DEFECT THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF. CAR WOULD START BUT NONE OF THE GAGES NOR THE RADION OR ANY OF THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS WOULD COME ON. SHUT IT OFF WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND IT WOULD WORK AGAIN. HAPPENED MANY TIMES, GOT IT "FIXED" STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN A MONTH LATER AND WAS AGAIN "FIXED" BUT WITH A DIFFERENT REMEDY SO FAR SHELLED OUT 700 DOLLARS FOR A CAR WITH SIXTY THOUSAND MILES ON IT*AK
RE: 2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA. 2 WEEKS AGO, I HAD MY RADIO ON + CLICKED THE 'REAR DEFROST BUTTON'. IT CAUSED STATIC IN THE RADIO.A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER THIS WAS STILL A PROBLEM BUT NOW THE BATTERY/SECURITY/SERVICE VEHICLE SOON LIGHTS CAME ON IN THAT ORDER REPEATEDLY. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. HE SAID THAT THE RD PROBLEM WAS KNOWN BUT HE COULD NOT FIND THE REASON WHY THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE COMING ON. HE CHECKED ALL CONNECTIVITY, FUSES, GROUND CONTIUITY,ETC TO NO AVAIL. HE RESET THE COMPUTER CODE + FELT THIS MIGHT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. WE NO SOONER LEFT HIS PARKING LOT + THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. HE CHECKED IT AGAIN, AND SURE ENOUGH, NOTHING APPEARED TO BE WRONG. HE SAID THE PROBLEM MAY ACTUALLY BE IN THE 'BODY CONTROL MODULE' ITSELF BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE CHECKED OUT. HOWEVER, HE DID INFORM ME THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO CHECK THE BCM + THAT EVEN THE DEALERS HAD NO WAY OF CHECKING IT. SO NOW I'M SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX A PART ON THE CAR THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NO CHOICE THOUGH SINCE I DRIVE 62 MILES A DAY EVERYDAY TO WORK +CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON BY DEFAULT. AS FOR THE REAR DEFOG PROBLEM, THERE IS A TSB ON IT # 030844005A. MY CONCERN IS THAT SINCE MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY I'VE BEEN GETTING QUOTES OF NO LESS THAN$600.00 TO FIX THIS. MY CAR WENT OUT OF WARRANTY BASED ON MY MILEAGE.I'VE HAD IT FOR 2.5 YEARS. I FEEL THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY TO GET THIS FIXED. ADDING INSULT TO INJURY, IF I WANT ONSTAR BACK IN MY CAR ITS ANOTHER $400.00. THIS UPSET ME BECAUSE IKNOW THE PRICE OF THIS FEATURE WAS ALREADY BUILT INTO THE PRICE OF THE CAR SO IF I WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE IT I HAVE TO PAY FOR REINSTALLATION.THIS IS WRONG. I BELIEVE THE REAR DEFOG PROBLEM IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM AND IF IT ALSO EFFECTS ONSTAR I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. IT IS WRONG FOR THE CONSUMER TO HAVE TO PAY FOR EITHER OF THESE ISSUES REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT BECAUSE IT'S A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. *AK
AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK THE TURN SIGNALS FAIL TO WORK (USSUALLY DURING RUSH HOUR OF COURSE). I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET IT TO REPEAT THIS FAILURE; AND, THUS, SAY IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIX THE PROBLEM IF THEY CAN'T SEE IT HAPPEN. LAST FAILURE WAS 03/26/04. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES STOPPED WORKING WHEN I DROVE UPON A CURB. VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. CONSTANT BRAKE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED. BRAKE WERE MAKING A MOANING SOUND BUT NOT ENGAGING. THERE WAS NO LOCKED WHEEL SKIDS. SPEED WAS AT APPROX. MPH.*AK

I CURRENTLY OWN A 2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS, 3.8L V6. BEFORE 36,000 MILES I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING POORLY AND WHEN IT WAS COLD THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLAM INTO GEAR. DEALER MADE SOME REPAIRS AND TOLD ME THE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. I DECLINED THE FUEL SERVICE AT THE TIME AND THE TRANSMISSION SLAMMING INTO GEAR FROM A COLD START CONTINUED. THE PROBLEM WORSENED AT 47,000 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND AFTER 2 DAYS I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE. AT 50,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING SEVERELY. I TRIED TO GET THE CAR HOME AND IT FAILED TO ENGAGE WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. I GOT THE CAR HOME TO PERFORM THE 50,000 MILE SERVICE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND A HANDFUL OF METAL IN THE PAN. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY TOTALLED. GM ONLY OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF THE REPAIR COSTS. THERE IS NO RECOMMENDED SERVICE BEFORE 50,000 MILES AND I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED IT LESS THAN 3 YEARS. *AK

THE BRAKES ARE CURRENTLY FAILING. THE CONTACT HEARS GRINDING METAL WHEN BRAKING, DRIVING OVER BUMPS, AND WHEN REVERSING. THE DEALER HAS YET TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE NOISE HAS INTENSIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 20,000 MILES AND NOW I AM REPLACING THEM AGAIN 1 YEAR LATER WITH ONLY 46,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE USED BOTH GM ROTORS AND ANOTHER MANUFACTURER AND BOTH ROTORS WARPED VERY PREMATURELY. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE REGARDING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM! 2001 IMPALA HAS BEEN IN TO HAVE THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT LUBRICATED 3 TIMES NOW. COOLANT LEAK AROUND THERMOPLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS COOLANT LEAK DEVELOPED AROUND 42000 MI AND IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT THE DEALER ADMITS. ALSO DEX-COOL IS FALSLEY ADVERTISED THAT IT CAN GO 150,000 OR 5 YEARS. MOST CONSUMERS AREN'T AWARE THAT IT TURNS ACIDIC AND DESTROYS GASKETS AND OTHER COOLING SYSTEM COMPONENTS. I FEEL THE COOLANT LEAK AND ASSOCIATED DEX-COOL PROBLEMS DEMONSTRATES GM FAILURE TO CORRECT A KNOWN DEFECT. UNFORTUNATLEY THE CONSUMER PAYS DEARLY RIGHT AS WARRANTY EXPIRES. GM SHOULD REPLACE THERMOPLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH SOMETHING MORE DURABLE AND HEAT RESISTANT.
WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN, CAR SHOOK ALL OVER AND I HEARD A LOUD BANG. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I COASTED TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD WHERE I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME AFTER ABOUT A WEEK, THAT MY PLANETARY GEAR HAD EXPLODED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE FLUID FILTER WAS FULL OF METAL SHAVINGS. HE STATED TO US THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. MY NEW TRANSMISSION COST ME $2200. THIS CAR HAS JUST 55000 MILES ON IT. IT IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE THAT I AM PAYING ALL OF THIS MONEY TO REPAIR THIS CAR, THAT IS PRACTICALLY NEW. I HAVE CONTACTED GM'S CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE AND THEY WILL OFFER NO ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. THE SERVICE I RECEIVED FROM THEM WAS POOR. THE CASE WAS ACTUALLY LOST ONCE THEREFORE I HAD TO START ALL OVER AGAIN. THE WOMAN WHO THEN TOOK OVER THE CASE BOLD FACE LIED TO MY FIANCE AND THEN BACK PEDALED BY SAYING THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER CASE JUST LIKE MINE AND THE WOMAN JUST HAPPENED TO HAVE THE SAME NAME AS ME. WHAT A COINCIDENCE. IN ADDITION TO THIS, JUST 10 DAYS PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION'S DEATH, I HAD TO REPLACE A CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN THE VEHICLE. *AK

WHICH IS RIDICULOUS FOR A CAR WITH 38,500 MILES. GM STATED THAT SINCE IT IS OVER WARRANTY THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. SECOND THEY STATED THAT THE IMPALA WOULD NEED TO BE AT A GM DEALER FOR THEM TO EVEN OPEN A COMPLAINT WITH THE ISSUE. WHY WOULD I TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER TO HAVE THEM TELL ME SORRY OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEN CHARGE ME DOUBLE THE QUOTE OF A TRANSMISSION SHOP. FOOL ME ONCE SHAME ON YOU. BUT FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME. WHEN THE HEATING SYSTEM WAS TURNED ON THERE WAS A STRONG ANTI FREEZE ODOR WITHIN THE CABIN. THE ODOR CAUSED A BURNING IRRITATION IN THE EYES AND NOSE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE HEATER CORE LEAKING ANTI FREEZE INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE ONTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR.*AK *MR
