AFTER HAVING THE SO CALLED RECALL FIXED THE ADDED WEIGHT FROM THE NEW KEYS MAKES ME HAVE TO LIFT THE KEY UP IN THE IGNITION AND WIGGLE IT TO GET THE IGNITION TO TURN. I FEEL THIS NEW FIX HAS JUST ADDED TO THE IGNITION PROBLEMS. *TR

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS OFFERED AN AMOUNT FOR THE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION TO THE MATTER. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

CAR REFUSES TO START. SECURITY SYSTEM LOCKS UP AND IT WON'T START FOR 10 MINUTES. SIGNAL LIGHTS WON'T WORK WHEN NEEDED. MAY WORK ONE DAY, THE NEXT, NO. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR 6 YEARS. THE MOST RECENT EPISODE WAS 8/13/14. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 2-3 TIMES AFTER I BOUGHT IT WITH NO SATISFACTION. GETTING REALLY TIRED OF THIS!! I REALLY WOULD LIKE SOME ANSWER TO MY PROBLEM. CONSUMER REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR IGNITION SWITCH RECALL REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED IN LATE JULY 2014, SHE WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AT COST OF $289.74. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE IGNITION SWITCH. GM DENIED THE CONSUMERS REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT, BECAUSE SHE DID NOT HAVE THE WORK PERFORMED AT A DEALER. *JB
THIS AUTO THEFT SYSTEM,PASS-LOCK IN THE IGNITION HAS CAUSED MYSELF AND MANY OTHER IMPALA OWNERS TO BE STRANDED IN THE ALL KINDS OF UNBEARABLE WEATHER,AND UNSAFE CONDITIONS.THE CARS AFTER BEING SHUT OFF WILL NOT START AGAIN UNTIL MAYBE 20 MIN LATER.MY CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER TWO DAYS I HAD TO LEAVE IT IN THE MALL PARKING LOT UNTIL I COULD FIND SOMEONE TO TOW IT FOR ME,THERE I WAS STRANDED A SECOND TIME WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND IT WAS ABOVE 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE.THIS IS VERY INCONVENIENT I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR A MECHANIC TO GUESS AT WHATS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE.ITS NOT THE STARTER,OR BATTERY PLEASE DO A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND CAME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN. I WAS GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME. THE ONLY WARNING LIGHT I GOT WAS TRACTION CONTROL, AND THE ABS MAINTENANCE LIGHTS. IT TURNED OUT THAT I HAD NO POWER STEERING FLUID IN MY CAR. I ENDED UP HAVING TO GET A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP. THEN THE MECHANIC THAT WAS WORKING ON MY CAR CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT MY RACK PINION IS BAD. HE WARNED ME THAT IT COULD GO OUT AT ANY TIME, AND IT'S UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WOULD LIKE THIS INCIDENT DOCUMENTED, JUST IN CASE THERE ARE OTHERS THAT ENCOUNTER THE SAME WITH THEIR CARS. I DO FEEL THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD PAY FOR THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE IT NOT FROM USUAL WEAR AND TEAR, THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. *TR

THE TURN SIGNALS STOP WORKING AND COULD POSE A SAFETY HAZARD AS TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SIGNAL WHICH DIRECTION YOU TRAVELING TO. SO OTHER DRIVERS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO KNOW THAT YOUR ARE MAKING A TURN AND COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON MANY GM VEHICLES NOT JUST THE IMPALA, SUCH AS GRAND AM, MONTE CARLO, OLDSMOBILE ALERO, AND MORE. THE PROBLEM IS IN THE HAZARD SWITCH RELAY WHICH ALSO CONTROLS THE TURN SIGNALS WHICH IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND PREMATURELY FAILS. GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD MAKE A RECALL WITH HOW MANY VEHICLES HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND IS A KNOW ISSUE ON MANY OF THERE CARS.

I HAVE RESEARCHED THAT MY VEHICLE HAS IN FACT HAVE THE SAME IGNITION STARTING ISSUES ALSO AS OTHER CHEVY IMPALAS.. WHEN TURNING THE KEY TO START VEHICLE AS TO INITIATE ENGINE RUN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY CEASES ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE IGNITION COIL. SEVERAL MINUTES LATER & AFTER A BRIEF PAUSE THE INITIAL TURNING THE KEY IGNITION STARTS THE ENGINE. FURTHER FAQ PERTAINING TO THIS FLAW WITH ALL SIMILAR CHEVY IMPALA ALL COME TO THE SAME IGNITION SWITCH ENGINE TURNING ON DEFECTS. ALL WITH DIFFERENT METHODS OF TURNING BUTTONS ON & OFF AS TO INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS AFTER REPEATED HAIL MARY METHODS. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 98,000 MILES - GAS GAUGE HASN'T WORKED FROM BEGINNING. BACK IN MAY HAD WHEEL BEARINGS CHANGED AND EVER SINCE ABS COMES ON CONSTANTLY WHILE APPLYING BRAKE AND SLOWING DOWN. ABS LIGHT COMES ON AT TIMES. ABS WILL KICK IN ABOUT 3 TIMES AFTER APPLYING BRAKES. NEPHEW SCANNED IT TO SEE CODES AND THEY WERE: C1221 LF WHEEL SPEED SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL IS 0 C1222 RF WHEEL SPEED SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL IS 0. IS THERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE??? *TR
MY DAUGHTER AND HER BOYFRIEND WERE KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT DRIVING HOME ON HIGHWAY 20 ON MAY 4 OF THIS YEAR NEAR NEWPORT OREGON. WE JUST RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE IGNITION AND FEEL THIS MAY HAVE BEEN A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE ACCIDENT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC AND I SWITCH LANE TO CARPOOL LANE. AS I WAS PICKING UP SPEED WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED FROM BEHIND PUSHED DOWN FORWARD FURTHER AND MY CAR TURNED AND SLAMMED ONTO THE CENTER DIVIDER LANE. AFTER MY CAR STRUCK CENTER DIVIDER LANE SAME CAR WHO HIT ME HAS NOT SLOWED DOWN AND HIT ME AGAIN ON HIGH IMPACT BEHIND DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR AND GAS TANK SMASHING ONTO MY REAR WHEEL. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED IN MY CAR. I AM 5'1 IN HEIGHT AND WEIGHT ABOUT 133LB. WE BOUNCED AROUND AS WELL AS MY BACKSEAT PASSENGER WHO IS MY DAUGHTER WHO WAS SEATING IN A BOOSTER SEAT AND WE WERE BOTH WEARING SEAT-BELTS. WHEN THE CAR HIT US SIDEWAYS AND JERKED US AROUND MY HEAD SLAMMED BY THE DOOR PANEL AND BUSTED MY HEAD OPEN WHICH CAUSED IT TO BLEED BADLY. BELIEVE IT WAS THE INITIAL IMPACT FROM THE REAR MY KEYS FLEW OUT OF THE IGNITION AND ON TO THE FLOOR IN THE BACKSEAT FLOOR FIREFIGHTER HAD TO SEARCH BECAUSE I TOLD THEM AS SOON AS THEY SHOWED UP "MY CAR IS STILL RUNNING I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE KEYS ARE AT!" THE IGNITION WAS STILL IN ON POSITION AS IF THE KEY WAS IN IT. MY DOORS ON DRIVER SIDE AND BEHIND DRIVER SIDE WAS SMASHED AND MY CAR SHIFTED OUT OF ITS ALIGNMENT THAT EVEN MY DAUGHTER WHO WAS IN THE REAR SEAT BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR HER DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. WE WERE BOTH REMOVED FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND AMBULANCE TRANSPORTED US TO HOSPITAL. MY DAUGHTER WHO IS 10 YEARS OF AGE WAS SHAKEN UP SICK TO HER STOMACH DIZZY WITH MINOR BRUISES. I SUFFER BRUISES ON TOP OF MY FOOT. BRUISES ON MY THIGH MY LEGS BOUNCED UP AND HIT THE STIRRING WHEEL. BRUISES ON BOTH MY ARMS AND MY DAUGHTERS ARMS AND ELBOW! WE ARE BOTH TENDER AND SOAR ALL OVER THE BODIES BUT, PRAISE GOD WE ARE ALIVE! BY THE WAY MY CAR IS TOTALED AND ITS PAID FOR. PLS GIVE ADVICE ON THIS SITUATION. *JS

THEN IT STARTS. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THE BRAKE LIGHT AND THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AT THE SAME TIME AND THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL. FINALLY, IF THE CAR IS RUNNING IN PARK.....ALL OF THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTS TO FLASH. *TR

I BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY TURNING SIGNALS. APPROXIMATELY IN APRIL THEY BEGAN TO NOT WORK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN INSTRUCTED TO USE. IN RECENT MONTHS THEY MAKE NOISE AS THEY ARE INSTRUCTED TO BE USED AND WELL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. ALSO, THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ARE INOPERABLE AT THIS TIME. *TR
AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING STRAIN OF NECK MUSCLES, UPPER BACK INJURY, BILATERAL STRAIN, CONTUSION OF MULTIPLE SITES OF MY LOWER LIMBS BILATERAL. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON THE IMPALA BUT DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF GMC I AM IN PAIN MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND I HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR. I WILL NEED ASSISTANCE IN PRICE, PAYMENTS, EXTENDED MAINTENANCE WARRANTY AT YOUR COST AND DELIVERY OF NEW VEHICLE TO ADDRESS I PROVIDE NO FEE ALSO INCLUDE TAG PAYMENTS. THE PLENUM ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS WARPED DUE TO A BAD INTAKE MANIFOLD AND NOW ANTIFREEZE AND OIL ARE BEING RELEASED AND ARE CAKING ON MY MAX AIRFLOW SENSOR AND MAP SENSOR. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I THINK IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT GM MADE A RECALL ON IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT AN EASY OR, FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW A BUMPER FROM A FENDER, IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVY IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE IN A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE FIRE HAD COME FROM THE ENGINE.
