MY 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA MAKES A ROARING SOUND WHEN THE ROAD IS WET AFTER A RAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY WATER BEING SPLASHED UP ON THE CONVERTER,AND IT COULD NOT BE FIXED
I OWN A 2003 IMPALA. AT 16000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS.*AK
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN CONSUMER WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH., WHEREBY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD COME BACK ON BY JIGGLING THE DIMMER LEVER ARM. SEVERAL MALFUNCTIONS WERE NOTICED BETWEEN THE FIRST MALFUNCTION AND THE VISIT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. AK *SC
WHILE STOOPED AT A RED LIGHT THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST COIL POPPED, SHATTERING THE REAR WINDOW. THE WIRES FROM THE DEFROST COIL HAVE COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE WINDOW. THE DEALER STATED THEY CAN'T COVER THE WINDOW. THE DEFROSTER WAS NOT ON. *NM
REFER TO THE GM RECALL ON 800,000 VEHICLES DUE CORROSION AFFECTS ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. I OWN A CHEVY IMPALA 2003 4DR SDN V6 FWD W/ANTILOCK BRAKES AND AWS. THE SYSTEM FAILED MUCH LIKE IN THE ABOVE STATED RECALL LAST WINTER IN MICHIGAN. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, UPON ATTEMPTING SLOW THE VEHICLE USING THE BRAKE SYSTEM IT FAILED DOING JUST THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. THERE WERE GRINDING NOISES, VEHICLE PULLING TO ONE SIDE, LOSS OF CONTROL, VEHICLE TOOK OVER. THIS HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS UNDER 5 MPH. THE LOSS OF CONTROL DUE SYSTEM FAILURE RESULTED IN SAID VEHICLE ENDING UP IN A 70 FOOT DITCH WHEREUPON IT HAD TO BE TOWED OUT OF. DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO THE FRONT LEFT FENDER, BUMPER AND DRIVING LIGHT. *NM
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES FAILED. *NM THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABS DID PERFORM AS DESIGNED. *JB
EXPERIENCING CLUNK IN STEERING; ALSO FAILED ROTORS.*AK
AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING HEADLIGHTS INADVERTENTLY CUT OFF. THE CAUSE WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK
HIT FROM BEHIND THE SEAT LUMBAR ROLL MADE MY BACK INJURY WORST
WHILE TURNING AT ANY SPEED, CONSUMER HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK.....ALSO, REPLACED INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. *AK
MECHANIC ADVISED OWNER THAT REAR CALIPERS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY RESULTING IN FRONT DISCS OVERHEATING. TOOK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS OK AND THEY "TOOK DOWN" THE REAR DISCS. LOOKED LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ON, SO AS TO GIVE REAR DISCS USED APPEARANCE. VEHICLE SHOULD NOT PASS SAFETY INSPECTION. STILL MAKING NOISE AND REAR BRAKE DISC'S APPEAR RUSTED. *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TRUNK LATCH ON 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA WAS DESIGNED INCORRECTLY. WHEN HE PUT A SUIT CASE IN THE TRUNK OR ANYTHING HEAVY, THE LATCH STUCK VERY HIGH, BENT, AND EVENTUALLY THE TRUNK WOULD NOT SHUT. THE DEALER CHANGED THE LATCH ONCE. THE FOREMAN AND THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. THE WARRANTY WAS SOON TO RUN OUT. *AK (11/18/05) PER INVOICE, THE DRIVEABILITY SEEMED TO IDLE HIGH. *SC
UPON ACCELERATION CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT. UPON DECELERATION OR TRAVELING IN REVERSE, CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT.*AK
THE REAR ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE FRONT ROTORS TURNED. ELEVEN MONTHS LATER, BOTH SETS OF ROTORS WERE DEFECTIVE AGAIN. WHEN TOUCHING THE BRAKES THEY PULSATED. THE MANUFACTURE STATED THAT BRAKES WERE CONSIDERED A WEAR ITEM. *JB *SC
I OWN A 2003 IMPALA. EVER SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LOCKS. THE FIRST TIME I HAD A PROBLEM ALL FOUR DOORS LOCKED ON THEIR OWN. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED MY GRANDSON WAS LOCKED INSIDE ON A HOT SUMMER DAY. MY DEALERSHIP IN CONJUNCTION WITH GM HAS TRIED TO FIX THIS SEVERAL TIMES, WITHOUT SUCCESS. IN ADDITION TO ALL DOORS LOCKING {HAS NOT OCCURRED RECENTLY} SOMETIMES THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN GEAR. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCKS SOMETIMES FROM JUST CLOSING THE DOOR. I DO NOT BELEIVE I CAN NOT GET MORE INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM. MY DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THE HAD ANOTHER GM VEHICLE THAT THE DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCKED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I ALSO HAVE A FRIEND , THAT HAD PROBLEMS WITH A GM VEHICLE DOORS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS AT THIS TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
UNDER HARD HIGH SPEED BRAKING THE FRONT BRAKES SHUDDER BADLY CAUSING A SEVERE FRONT END SHIMMY DUE TO WARPED ROTORS MAKING STOPPING DIFFICULT. IF PRESSURE ON PEDAL IS NOT RELEASED THIS COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL AND A CRASH. IT IS WORSE IF GOING DOWNHILL. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE ON GM CARS BUILD IN THE LAST 8 YEARS. THERE ARE POSTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS. THE PROBLEM IS WITH POORLY MADE BRAKE ROTORS THAT WARP AT UNDER 15,000 MILES OF NORMAL USE. I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY WIFE'S 2003 IMPALA. THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE ROTORS REPLACED WITH PARTS OF ADEQUATE QUALITY. IF YOU CAN GET THE ISSUE ADDRESSED UNDER WARRANTY, THE DEALER WILL ONLY EITHER TURN THE DEFECTIVE ROTORS OR REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME OEM JUNK. THE ONLY FIX I HAVE FOUND IT TO REPLACE THEM WITH AFTERMARKET ROTORS AND PADS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY AND SHIFTED GEARS ON IT'S OWN. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMERER THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT BEGAN RETRACTED AND TIGHTENED. VEHICLE WAS PULLED OFF THE ROAD, AND THE SEAT BELT HAD TO BE CUT OFF. PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR CUTS AND WELTS FROM THE TIGHTENING.*AK
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PERIODICALLY FAILS TO PROCEED WITH SHIFTS AFTER REACHING 25-30 MPH. AT THAT POINT, THE ENGINE ROARS, AS THOUGH IT HAD BEEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, AND THE VEHICLE CEASES TO ACCELERATE. SOMETIMES THIS IS RESOLVED WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS WITH A LURCH. MOST OFTEN, IT IS NECESSARY TO REDUCE THE SPEAD AND ONCE AGAIN ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE PROBLEMATIC RANGE. THIS USUALLY LEADS TO THE CAR RESUMING A NORMAL PATTERN OF ACCELERATION. HOWEVER, ON SOME ACCASIONS THIS PROCESS HAS LED TO MULTIPLE REPITITIONS OF THE SAME PROBLEM, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FAIL TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY INTO TRAFFIC FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD WITH RESULTANT DANGER TO THOSE IN THE VEHICLE AND IN OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP FIVE TIMES OVER THE PAST FIVE MONTHS, WITH THE FIRST REQUEST FOR SERVICE OCCURRING WHEN THE VEHICLE'S MILEAGE WAS JUST UNDER 10,800. THE FIRST FOUR SERVICE VISITS FAILED TO RESULT IN EFFECTIVE CORRECTIVE ACTION. THE RESULTS OF THE FIFTH SERVICE VISIT ARE PENDING. *AK
THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS/INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN IT RAINS MOISTURE CLOUDS LENS IN HEAD LIGHT AND FOG LIGHT.
FAILING PAINT ON FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS OF WHITE IMPALAS. ON ALL WHITE IMPALAS FROM MY AREA THE PAINT IS FLAKING OFF OF THE BUMPERS, BOTH FRONT AND REAR, VERTICALLY IN CHUNKS ALONG THE CURVES TOWARD EITHER SIDE OF THE CAR. THIS ONLY APPEARS TO BE A CONDITION WITH THE WHITE MODELS, AND LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH FLEX ADDED TO THE PAINT BEFORE APPLICATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKE TO REDUCE SPEED. ABS LOCKED UP, RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTRO. AND HAD A FRONT END COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES TO CHEST WHEN IT CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. *AK
2003 CHEVY IMPALA, BOUGHT NEW. ALL FOUR BRAKES WORE OUT PREMATURELY. WARPED, SCORED ROTORS. CAR STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOT ROTORS. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID MY DRIVING HABITS AND THE CLIMATE WERE TO BLAME. I'VE BEEN DRIVING GM CARS IN THIS AREA FOR 40 YEARS, AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER CARE CENTER TO REPORT DEFECTIVE PARTS. HAVE PARTS. CLAIM DENIED. I HAD MY OWN MECHANIC REPLACE PARTS WITH HEAVY DUTY ROTORS. LIGHTWEIGHT ROTORS SHOULD NEVER BE STANDARD ON CARS SOLD ON LOTS IN NORTH CONWAY, NH. *JB
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STEEP INCLINE, I COULD FEEL THE PULSATING OF THE ABS, ALONG WITH DIMINISHED BRAKING POWER. AFTERWARDS, I NOTICED THE ABS WOULD COME ON NOTICEABLY EACH TIME I BRAKED FROM 40-60 MPH. THE OUTSIDE RIGHT REAR CALIPER DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE MAKING GOOD CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR AS ON THE OTHER BRAKES. THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT (DOBLER CHEVROLET IN HEMPSTEAD, NY) SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR JULY 8, 2004. THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WAS THAT IMPORTANT.*AK
AFTER A 55 MPH VEHICLE SKID, THE CONSUMER HIT A POLE WITH THE FRONT END AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB
NOTICED INCREASING NOISE AND VIBRATION WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. TOOK CAR IN FOR SAFETY INSPECTION AND FRONT BRAKE SERVICE. WAS INFORMED THE REAR ROTORS ARE BADLY RUSTED AND CORRODED , MAY NOT BE IMPROVED BY GRINDING OR TURNING, AND MIGHT NEED TO BE REPLACED, AND THE LININGS ARE AT 20-25% ON THE FRONT AND 15-20% ON THE REAR. I POINTED OUT THAT THE SERVICE GARAGE HAD DONE A SAFETY INSPECTION A LITTLE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO AND DOCUMENTED THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE OK, AND THE FRONT BRAKES HAD 50% OF THE LINING LEFT. CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER CARE CENTER AND SPOKE WITH DELOSHA PAYNE, WHO CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, CALLED ME BACK AND INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR BRAKES WORE AT A FASTER RATE THAN THE FRONT, AND WHOEVER ROTATED MY TIRES SHOULD HAVE CHECKED THE ROTORS AND INFORMED ME THEY NEEDED SERVICE. I HAD ASKED THIS GARAGE ABOUT ROTATING THE TIRES AT BOTH INSPECTIONS AND NEITHER TIME DID ANYONE INDICATE IT SHOULD BE DONE. I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE RECOMMENDED IT. *LA
VEHICLE WILL NOT DEFROST WITHOUT LETTING INTO THE OUTSIDE FUMES. DURING WINTER MONTHS THE DEFROSTED WILL LET THE OUTSIDE AIR AND GAS FUMES INTO THE CAR. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO INSISTED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS VEHICLE AND ALL VEHICLES PRODUCED AFTER 2001 WERE MADE THIS WAY. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED A SCREW IN THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS LOOSE. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD ONLY APPEAR IN FREEZING CONDITIONS. HOWEVER IT HAPPENED WHEN IT WAS RAINING. THIS CAUSED THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WIPER WAS NOT TO WORK PROPERLY. THERE WAS A REDUCTION IN VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. EACH TIME THEY TIGHTEN THE SCREW LOCATED AT THE BASE OF THE WIPER. THERE HAS BEEN NO PERMANENT SOLUTION. *AK UPDATED 1/25/2006. *NM
WINDSHIELD LEAKED WATER INSIDE OF DASHBOARD. DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF PROBLEM. *AK
POWER DOOR LOCKS FAIL WITH USE OF KEYLESS REMOTE ENTRY. WHEN TESTING CIRCUIT AMPERAGE DRAW FINDS A 19 AMP ELECTRICAL SPIKE ON A 20 AMP CIRCUIT. SUSPECT THIS TO BE TO HIGH FOR CIRCUIT PROTECTION. FUSE BLOWS FREQUENTLY. WHEN DOORS ARE LOCKED HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS WILL FLASH MOMENTARILY WHICH IS NORMAL. THE CIRCUIT LOAD IS TO HIGH FOR A TWENTY AMP FUSE. SUGGEST GM TO INCREASE CIRCUIT PROTECTION AMPERAGE OR DECREASE AMPERAGE DRAW. DEALER UNABLE TO LOCATE PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HAZARD WARNING LIGHT AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHT MALFUNCTIONED. THE LIGHTS CAME ON, BUT WOULDN'T FLASH. *AK DEALER REPLACED HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH. *LA
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING YARD. *AK
RADIO HAS VERY BAD RECEPTION. HAVE TAKEN CARE TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE REPLACED NEW RADIO WITH RECONDITIONED RADIOS TWICE. FIRST REPLACEMENT RADIO, DISPLAY DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. SECOND REPLACEMENT RADIO WAS NOT CALIBRATED PROPERLY WHEN INSTALLED AND WHEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND RE-CALIBRATED, HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE DISPLAY AS REPLACEMENT RADIO NUMBER ONE. I NOW SUPPOSEDLY NEED A NEW DIMMER SWITCH. (AM TAKING TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN THE HOPES THAT THEY CAN REPAIR THE PROBLEM) THE FOG LIGHTS CONSTANTLY HAVE EXCESSIVE CONDENSATION. AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP AND GM THAT THIS IS NORMAL HOWEVER I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE TELL ME THIS IS NOT NORMAL. HAVE NOT OBSERVED THIS TYPE OF CONDENSATION ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE'S FOG LIGHTS. GM WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE UNLESS THERE IS STANDING WATER. GM REFUSED CLAIM. THERE IS AN EXTREMELY LOUD POPPING AND CRACKING NOISE FROM THE DASH. TEMP OUTSIDE DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER. AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NO FIX. THE CRACKING NOISE IS VERY DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING. IT COMES SUDDENLY AND WITH NO WARNING AND SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING HARD STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD. *LA

DRIVING 2003 IMPALA IN RAIN WHEN ENGINE DIED SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF STREET,CAUSING TRAFFIC HAZARD. STARTER REFUSED TO TURN OVEREVEN THOUGH ELCTRICSL SYSTEM CONTINUED TO FUNCTION, DEALER SAID WATER GOT INTO ENGINE AND CHEVY WAS NOT RESPONCIBLE, ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REBUILT AT OWNERS EXPENSE.
DT: THE DASH WAS CAVING IN, THE WINDSHIELD WAS OFF LEVEL AND THERE WAS KNOCKING IN THE STEERING, THE UNDERNEATH FRAME WAS HANGING DOWN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE; THERE WAS A GAP IN THE CONNECTION OF THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR, AND OTHER PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED, AND THE WHEELS ALIGNED. THEN, THE CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD HER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO TOLD HER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT AT FIRST THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING AND THEY REPLACED GEAR SHAFT.*AK
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES OR TURNING ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, THE CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE RADIO. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE NOISE WOULD ALSO OCCUR WHEN THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WERE USED, THE HEATER FAN SPEED WAS ADJUSTED AND WHEN THE RADIO WAS ON. *SC *JB
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES A SQUEAKING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR WHEEL. THE DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS. THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE CALIPERS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE DEALER CHANGED THE CALIPER TWICE BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. THE MECHANIC TOLD THE DRIVER THAT THE BRAKES WERE METALLIC THEREFORE THEY WOULD ALWAYS SQUEAK. *NM

FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WORE OUT, CAUSING HEAVY VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE WHEN BRAKING. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE WARPED ROTORS AND CLEANED THE PADS BUT THE VIBRATION RECURRED. THE CONSUMER HAD TWO DIFFERENT TECHNICIANS FAX HIM A COPY OF GENERAL MOTOR DOCUMENTS PERTAINING ROTOR PROBLEMS. *NM
I HAVE 34000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND HAVE TO TAKE IT IN SOON AS THE BRAKES ARE AGAIN PULSATING. THIS WILL BE THE 6TH TIME I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPLACED. THERE IS A CONSTANT RUBBING SOUND WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER IS A "NORMAL" SOUND IN AN IMPALA. THERE IS NOTHING "NORMAL" ABOUT THIS SOUND. 12/11/03 IS THE FIRST TIME I REPORTED A BRAKE PROBLEM AND HAVE CONTINUED TO DO SO UNTIL THE PRESENT.
BRAKES MADE GRINDING NOISE WHEN APPLIED ( 7403 MILES ), PULSATION HEARD AND FELT,RIGHT REAR ROTOR SEVERALLY PITTED,TURNEDREMAINING 3 ROTORS AND SANDED PADS.PERFORMED ROAD VARIATION TEST ON TIRES RIGHT FRONT FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. AT 15334 MILES SAME PROBLEM, SURFACE OF ROTORS FOUND TO BE VERY CORRODED,RESURFACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND REPLACED REAR BRAKE ROTORS, ALSO SENT A PRODUCT REPORT TO GM AND ATTENTION OF SHOP FOREMAN AND FACTORY REP. AT 18728 MILES ROTORS CORRODED AGAIN RESURFACED.THIS IS THIRD TIME FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS I AM NOT CONFIDENT IN DRIVING THIS 2003 CHEV IMPALA AND I HAVE HEARD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ( UNSAFE ) THE FACTORY REP. OFFERED ME $1000 VOUCHER TOWARD A NEW CAR. I HAVE ALL THE NAMES AND DOCUMENTION IN MY FILES.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT DASHBOARD LIGHT WAS FLASHING , INDICATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. CONSUMER'S SON IN LAW HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL LEAKING IN THE RADIATOR. ALSO, CONSUMER WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THERE WAS INTAKE MANIFOLD PROBLEM. *AK
