TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DEFROGGER,THE TURNING SIGNALS AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND BLOWER RESISTER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES,HOWEVER,THE PROBLEM RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:14V4000 (ELECTRICAL). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, A WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ADVISING THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT ONE OF THE HEAD GASKETS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 160,000.
GAS GAUGE GIVING INCORRECT READING. JUMPS FROM FULL TO EMPTY AND CAN RESIDE ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN REGARDLESS OF AMOUNT OF GAS. CAUSES CAR TO RUN OUT OF GAS WITHOUT PROPER WARNING. *TR
THE IMPALA HAS BRAKES THAT HAVE A LOT OF CHATTER. THE BRAKES PULSATE AND HAVE A VIOLENT SHAKING FIT. I HAD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED AT 66,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM HAS REAPPEARED WITHIN 15000 MILES AND IT CONTINUES. THE QUALITY IS POOR AND IS A ROAD HAZARD. *TR
THE TRACTION ACTIVE LIGHT LIGHTS UP AFTER BACKING UP AND BRAKING. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH IMPALAS. THE CAR MAKES A GRINDING NOISE FOR A SECOND OR TWO. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. *KB

FAILURE OF THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE IN A 2003 CHEVY IMPALA. COULD BE DANGEROUS, AND AFTER DOING SOME INTERNET SEARCHING, APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. CAR HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. ALSO, TRANSMISSION FAILED AT ABOUT 80,000 MILES. *KB
I HAVE HAD INCIDENTS SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS WHERE I WOULD HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND MY CAR WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AND MY CAR TURNED OFF ON ME. I HAD TO SHIFT MY CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART IT TO CONTINUE GOING. 2003 CHEVY IMPALA SECURITY LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. LIGHT WILL TURN OFF SOMETIMES AFTER DRIVING OR SOMETIMES AFTER CAR IS TURNED OFF. CAN GO AT THE LONGEST A WEEK BETWEEN LIGHT COMING BACK ON AGAIN. CAR WITHOUT WARNING DID NOT START. TURNED KEY LIGHTS WORKED RADIO WORKED AND AC BUT WOULDN'T TURN OVER. *KB

BCM - BODY CONTROL MODULE - 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. STARTED WITH FAILURE OF ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS, THEN RADIO WENT OUT, THEN CAR WILL NOT START. NEW BCM ORDERED. *TT
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY IMPALA WITH THE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON CAR FROM FACTORY. WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON EVENING SHE LOST ALL HER HEADLIGHTS AND THEY COULDN'T EVEN BE TURNED ON MANUALLY. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR SOME STREET LIGHTS IN HER LOCATION SHE MIGHT HAVE LOST CONTROL OF CAR. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS BEING IN THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH IN THE STEERING COLUMN. A GM REPLACEMENT PART WAS QUOTED TO ME AT $500 PLUS INSTALLATION. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ITEM AS I UNDERSTAND FROM MY MECHANIC THAT IT IS COMMON. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AND COSTLY TO FIX. THE AVERAGE PERSON CANNOT FIX THIS SWITCH BECAUSE IT INVOLVES REMOVING THE AIR BAG FIRST. SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR
MY CHEVY IMPALA 2003 INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT START; IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS SOME ELECTRONICALLY ACTIVATED LOCKOUT SYSTEM THAT TEMPORARILY PREVENTS THE CAR FROM BEING STARTED. (THE BATTERY, STARTER AND OTHER CONVENTIONAL PART OF THE STARTING SYSTEM ARE OK.) UNDER CERTAIN SITUATIONS, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE CAR HAS BEEN IN POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS FOR A 30 SECOND STOP BUT THEN IT WON'T START FOR 10 MINUTES DUE TO AN UNKNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE CAR'S PASSLOCK SECURITY / ELECTRICAL / KEY TUMBLER / SYSTEMS. ASIDE FROM THE FRUSTRATION, I CANNOT RELY ON MY AUTOMOBILE WHEN TRANSPORTING MY 90+ YEAR OLD PARENTS TO LUNCH OR WHATEVER BECAUSE I MAY BECOME STRANDED AND THEIR HEALTH ISSUES CANNOT TOLERATE SITTING IN A HOT CAR FOR UNKNOWN PERIODS OF TIME. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 IMPALA. I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE BATTERY IS NOT DEAD. EVERYTHING INSIDE THE CAR CAME ON AND THE WINDOWS WOULD ROLL DOWN. BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSLOCK SECURITY SYSTEM IN A LOT OF GM CARS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE PARKED THE CONTACT NOTICED THE ABS, CHECK TRACTION SYSTEM AND TRAC OFF WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THERE WAS ALSO A GRINDING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE WARNING LIGHTS CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC. THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC A THIRD TIME. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,878.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF OF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FACE DUE TO BROKEN GLASS. THE POLICE WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT, HAVE INSTALLED 2 PARTS WILL LAST A COUPLE MONTHS THAN WILL GO OUT AGAIN. WILL GO DIM THAN GO OFF. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2003 CHEVY IMPALA IN 2009. CAR RAN PERFECT WHEN WE PURCHASED IT. AFTER 6 MONTHS THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP. THAT IS NOT THE MAJOR ISSUE. THE MAJOR ISSUE IS THAT THE CAR DOES NOT START ALL THE TIME. CHANGED BATTERY AND IT STILL DOES NOT RUN. IT WILL START BUT ONLY RUNS UNTIL YOU PUT IT IN GEAR. IT THEN STALLS OUT! THIS CAR HAS BEEN GREAT BUT IS NOT UNRELIABLE.. *TR

2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE IS UNRELIABLE, PERIODICALLY NOT RUNNING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE TURNED ON THE IGNITION, IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. WITHIN A SECOND ALL EXTERIOR, AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WHEN OUT. THIS IS TOTALLY UNSAFE AND HAZARDOUS. THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS NOT THE CONSUMER. NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS. THIS A MALFUNCTION PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. I PRAY THAT YOUR JUST NOT ENTERING THESE COMPLAINTS INTO THE DATA BASE, BUT LETTING THE CONSUMER KNOW THAT YOU CARE AND ARE WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM. FUEL LEAKS FROM THE HOSE THAT CONNECTS TO THE FUEL INJECTOR PRESSURE REGULATOR ON MY 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA FROM TIME TO TIME WITH NO REGULAR SCHEDULE. I AM AFRAID THAT AT SOME TIME A FIRE COULD RESULT FROM THIS LEAKAGE. SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS AT START UP AND THEN AT OTHER TIMES FOR REASON AT ALL. IT IS A SMALL AMOUNT OF LEAKAGE. WHEN I DETECT THE SMELL,I STOP AND PUSH DOWN ON THE HOSE WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE PRESSURE REGULATOR AND IT SEEMS TO STOP THE SMELL AND THE LEAK. *TR
WHEN SWITCH IS PULLED TO PUT ON BRIGHT LIGHTS ALL LIGHTS GO OFF, LEAVING ME DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH ABSOLUTELY NO LIGHTS. WIGGLING, JIGGLING, OR MOVING THE SWITCH EVENTUALLY PUTS THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS BACK ON. HAD THIS FIXED AT A COST TO ME OF MORE THAN $600. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW AND HAVE EVERY SERVICE RECORD ON IT, CAN PROVE IT WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND NOT ABUSED. EVEN HAVE SAVED FAILED PART FROM THIS SERVICE. HAVE SEEN A VAST NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM LISTED ON WEB. I WAS LUCKY, THE NEXT PERSON MIGHT NOT BE SO LUCKY. AT THE VERY LEAST PEOPLE WHO OWN THIS MAKE/MODEL NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I WOULD NOT LIKE TO SEE THIS HAPPEN TO MY GRANDMOTHER OR OTHER LOVED ONE.
FRONT WINDSHIELD DEFOGGER BLOWS ONLY COLD OR HOT AIR- IE GETS STUCK IN ONE OR THE OTHER POSITION. *TR

2003 CHEVY IMPALA BRAKES FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOUR TIMES SINCE 11/17. I AM EXPERIENCING THIS EVERYTIME WHEN I DRIVE THIS CAR SINCE 11/17. HERE ARE THE STEPS TO CREATE THE PROBLEM. 1. SHIFT TO PARK (P) AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. (LET IT SIT FOR 30 MINUTES) 2. START THE ENGINE 3. SHIFT TO REVERSE (R) AND BACK MY CAR FOR AROUND 10 - 15 FEET (A COUPLE OF CLICK SOUNDS COME OUT UNDER THE HOOD WHEN CAR STARTS MOVING) 4. SHIFT TO DRIVE (D) START SLOWLY AND APPLY BRAKE. 5. AT THIS POINT THE CAR DOES NOT SLOW A BIT BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL ALREADY ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. 6. RE-APPLY THE BRAKE AGAIN ASAP. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE EVER REPORTED THIS BEFORE. SINCE THIS IS A SEVER SAFETY ISSUE, I'D LIKE TO MAKE A COMPLAINT ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON. SUDDENLY, THE HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERATIVE. THE SPEED RATE WAS REDUCED AND THE HI-BEAMS WERE ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE IN OPERATION. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERN OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000. UPDATED 01/28/11*LJ THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 03/23/11
HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME BACK ON AFTER HIGH BEAMS WERE USED ON A BACK ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. CHECKED CONNECTIONS AND SPARK PLUGS AND THEY WERE NOT THE ISSUE. BELIEVE IT IS A FAULTY SWITCH AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH. *TR
THE TRACTION CONTROL IS CONSTANTLY ENGAGING EVEN UNDER IDEAL DRIVING SITUATIONS. IT ENGAGES WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ONCE ENGAGED DURING PULLING ONTO A ROAD AND DUE TO HOLDING CAR BACK (NO TRACTION) ALMOST HAD A COLLISION. ALSO WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED A NOISE IS HEARD AND A SLIGHT PUSH BACK OF THE BRAKE PEDAL OCCURS. NOISE IS POSSIBLY FROM THE ABS. SINCE THE TWO (TC AND ABS) ARE LINKED IT COULD BE DISRUPTING ONE OR THE OTHER. I HAVE SEARCHED SEVERAL FORUMS AND MANY CONSUMERS ARE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM. MANY HAVE TRIED SEVERAL SOLUTIONS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. WROTE A LETTER TO GM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I AM VERY CONCERNED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A DEATH OCCURS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. ALSO NO KNOWN ROOT CAUSE OR EASY FIX AND CUST HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS TO FIX ISSUE AT DEALER YET ISSUE REMAINS. THIS SHOULD BE RESEARCHED AND RECALLED BEFORE ANYONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. MY 03 IMPALA SOME TIMES WON'T START. I HAVE ALREADY GOT IT FIXED FROM DEALER AND AS SOON AS IT RAN OUT OF WARRANTY, IT STARTED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, WHICH WAS FIXED 6 MONTHS EARLIER BY THE DEALER. GM WON'T HELP AND I AM STUCK SOME TIMES, WITH THE CAR BEING LEFT ABOUT TWO TO THREE TIMES IN SHOPPING MALLS. NEED SOME HELP FROM GM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE HEAD LIGHTS SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE HEADLIGHTS THEN ILLUMINATED WHEN THE CONTACT DROVE UP A HILL BUT THEN TURNED OFF AGAIN WHEN A TURN WAS MADE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
CHEVROLET IMPALA 2003 AFTER RUNNING OVER A POTHOLE FEB. 2009, A CLICKING SOUND WAS IMMEDIATELY OBSERVED WITH EACH REVOLUTION OF THE WHEEL. TOOK IT TO A PEP BOYS FOR INSPECTION. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG AFTER VISUAL AND DRIVE INSPECTION. STILL CONTINUED TO HEAR CLICKING SOUND. ON OCT. 6, WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE AND TURNING WHEEL TO LEFT, A LOUD SCRAPING SOUND WAS MADE. STOPPED CAR, GOT OUT TO INSPECT WHETHER OR NOT ANYTHING WAS ON GROUND, ETC. NOTHING WAS THERE. SOUND CONTINUED UNTIL CHANGING GEAR TO DRIVE. OCT. 12, 2010 TURNED WHEEL TOWARDS LEFT WHILE IN DRIVE AND A VERY LOUD CLICKING- THEN BUMPING NOISE WAS MADE. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE WHEEL WAS GOING TO BREAK OR SOMETHING IF I CONTINUED TURNING. I WAS SIX BLOCKS FROM HOME, SO DROVE SLOWLY AND VERY SLOWLY FOR THE NEXT 2 LEFT TURNS IN WHICH ON THE 2ND LEFT TURN THE BUMPING SOUND HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS FRIGHTENED ME SO THAT I AM PETRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR. PLAN TO TAKE TO A MECHANIC BUT WITH ASSISTANCE. *TR
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT FILLING OUT THIS FORM BECAUSE IT IS A WASTE OF TIME. I FILLED A COMPLAINT ON MARCH 2010 AND STILL NO RESPONSE, I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE ENGINEER HAS FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH A 2003 CHEVY IMPALA PASS-LOCK SYSTEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.
PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE TRANS - WASN'T SHIFTING RIGHT, HARD SHIFT. TOOK IT TO ROTOLO CHEVY IN FONTANA, CA. DX: CATALYTIC CONVERTER, NEARLY $800 TO GET NEW ONE ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR COMPLETELY DIE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN THE TRANNY DISINTEGRATED. REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. EVER SINCE I HAVE HAD SHIFTING DIFFICULTIES - TOOK IT BACK A WEEK LATER TO BE TOLD IT HAS A "SMART ADAPT" IN TRANS AND NEEDED APPROX 1000 MILES TO SYNC ITSELF, NOW THE CAR SPUTTERS, HAS A MISFIRE CODE IN CYLINDER 2, TRANS CODE. HARD STARTS, RANDOMLY STALLS WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURNS, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS SURGE WHEN AT AN IDLE, CAR CONSTANTLY FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL - IT CAN ACTUALLY MAKE YOU NAUSEAS WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE SURGING OF THE CAR. THIS MORNING THE CAR JUST STALLED WHEN I WAS AT A STOP SIGN. ALL PLUGS, PLUG WIRES AND COIL PACK FOR CYLINDER 2 HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH NO CORRECTION TO HOW THE CAR RUNS. SOUNDS AND FEELS WORSE WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE, BUT SMOOTHES OUT SOME WHEN IN DRIVE. FILED COMPLAINT WITH BAR REGARDING CAT REPLACEMENT, RECOMMENDED REFUND TO DEALER FOR UNNECESSARY ITEM - DEALER REFUSES TO GIVE MONEY BACK. TOLD ME CAR WOULD NEVER RUN RIGHT AFTER THE TRANNY WAS REPLACED BECAUSE I REFUSED TO HAVE THEM CHANGE THE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE CAR HAS NOT RUN RIGHT SINCE, BUT A SECOND OPINION FOUND THAT THE MOUNTS WERE OK - RECOMMENDED THAT ONE OF THE BACK MOUNTS BE REPLACED AS IT WAS MORE WORN THAN THE OTHERS. *TR
THE IGNITION SWITCH HAD A 10 MINUTE DELAY. WHEN I GO TO CRANK THE CAR AT TIME IT WILL NOT CRANK . IF I WAIT TEN MINUTES THEN IT WILL CRANK. I'VE HAD ALL SENSOR CHECK REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE STARTER. I HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH LOOKED AT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AND SHUT OFF. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT 90,000 MILES. HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS NOT GENERATING ANY ERROR CODES. I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT TWICE DUE TO SHUTTING OFF DURING ACCELERATION. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE STALLING OR SHUTTING OFF STARTS AFTER THE TEMPERATURE REACHES APPROXIMATELY 125 DEGREES F AND HAPPENS RANDOMLY. WHEN I AM OPERATING THE AIR CONDITIONER, THE STALLING IS MORE NOTICEABLE DUE TO THE ENGINE LOAD. SO FAR, THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE CRANK SENSOR AND IGNITION MODULE WHICH HAS NOT CORRECTED THE STALLING AND SHUTTING DOWN. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY IMPALA. MY CAR CRANKS FINE IN THE MORNING. AFTER BEING DRIVEN AFTER A WHILE; I HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO COOL OFF BEFORE IT WILL CRANK. I HAVE HAD TO WAIT UP TO 2 HOURS FOR MY CAR TO START. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO SEVERAL MACHINES AND THEY ARE LOST REGARDING THE ISSUE. I CALLED THE CHEVY PLACE AND THEY GAVE ME A LIST OF POSSIBLE PROBLEMS AND WANT ME TO SPEND 99.99 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I TOLD THEM I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULAR). I HAVE BEEN LOOKING OUT ON CONSUMER PAGES AND THERE HAVE BEEN RESPONSE ABOUT THE BCM BEING FIXED AND IT ONLY RESOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT TIME. SPENDING 99.99 PLUS A CHARGE OF 450.00 TO 500.00 TO GET A TEMPORARY FIX IS WAY OUT OF THE QUESTION. I FEEL THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED ASAP BECAUSE THIS IS ELECTRICAL AND CAN BE DANGEROUS TO THE CONSUMER. I ALSO IT SHOULD BE AT A COST TO THE COMPANY DUE TO THE FACT NO ONE CAN DETECT THE PROBLEM OUTSIDE THE COMPANY AND IT SEEMS THAT THE REPAIR IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX AND IT TO EXPENSIVE FOR THAT. *TR
WE ARE DEALING WITH A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH/ SECURITY SYSTEM ON OUR CAR AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK NOW. THIS ISSUE BEGAN ABOUT SIX MONTHS BACK AND IS DEFINITELY WORSENING. WE ARE EXPERIENCING WAIT TIMES OF ABOUT TEN MINUTES TO CLEAR THE SECURITY SYSTEM BEFORE WE CAN START THE CAR AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS WILL EVENTUALLY END UP COMPLETELY FAILING SOON. NOW THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS TO FAIL AND WE CANNOT JUDGE SPEED AT NIGHT WITHOUT A FLASHLIGHT. I JUDGE THIS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND SHE OFTEN HAS TO DEPEND ON THE CAR AT NIGHTS AND ALONE. *TR

I HAVE 2003 CHEVY IMPALA AND I HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSLOCK THEFT SYSTEM THAT GM PUTS IN THE CAR. I ONLY HAD THE CAR YEAR AND HALF, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEM UP TO AUG 28 2010. THE VEHICLE'S TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. FROM A STOP POSITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WILL SURGE FORWARD, THEN TEMPORARILY LOSE MOMENTUM RENDERING THE VEHICLE STATIONARY. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED TO THE BRAKES AND THE HUB ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED; THE OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE THE SOURCE OF THIS PROBLEM, THE ISSUE REMAINS UNSOLVED AND POSES A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. DUE TO THIS UNSAFE MALFUNCTION, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL NEAR FRONT, REAR AND SIDE COLLISIONS WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. *TR
