TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE HEADLIGHTS, THE DOOR LOCKS, TURN SIGNALS AND ANYTHING ELECTRICAL BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND IT WOULD STALL. THE WARNING LIGHTS AND THE HEAT WOULD ALSO STOP WORKING. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACING THE COMPUTER; HOWEVER, THEY DO NOT KNOW IF THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91000.
03 IMPALA THAT HAS HAD THE SERVICE VEHICLE SOON LIGHT COME ON. WAS JUST IN FOR OIL CHANGE, LIGHT IS NOT ALWAYS ON. DRIVE INTO WORK, CAR IS FLAWLESS. DRIVE HOME FROM WORK, NOW THE LIGHT IS ON AND ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER AND THERE IS A NOISE IN THE GLOVE BOX OF A TICK TICK TICK. STOP AT GARAGE AND THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS NO CODES APPEAR. HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE INTERIOR FUSE WHEN I PARK SO THAT BATTERY IS NOT DRAINED, SHOP SAYS I WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE BCM. CAR HANDLES WELL, BUT WHY AM I READING ABOUT ALL OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER GM CUSTOMERS OF IMPALA'S BETWEEN 2000-2005? RECALL? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH HE ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW BUT IT WOULD NOT OPEN. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLICKER INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD ALSO MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT COULD ONLY MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. HE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR HIMSELF BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE VCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
2003 CHEVY IMPALA WILL NOT START. THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT IS A BCM PROBLEM. THE REMOTE INSTALLED ON THE CAR FOB DOES NOT WORK AND HAS NEVER WORKED. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THE TRUNK WILL SPRING OPEN WHEN TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. SINCE THE DOORS AND TRUNK DO NOT LOCK, THERE IS NO SECURITY ON THIS VEHICLE. AND AGAIN THE CAR WILL NOT START. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND THE CAR STILL DOES NOT START. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, HE WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE COMPUTER CHIP DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE KEY AND THE PASS LOCK SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,148.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHENEVER THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE TURNED ON THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HER THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY OR RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE AND THE REPAIR COST WAS $500. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
2003 CHEVORLET IMPALA WILL NOT START DUE TO PROBLEM WITH PASSLOCK SENSOR. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN OVER AND OVER. THE MANUFACTURER SEEMS TO BE AWARE OF THIS AND REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. THERE SEEMS TO A LIABILITY ISSUE IF SOMEONE IS STRANDED BECAUSE OF THIS ITEM AND GETS KILLED OR RAPED. *TR

BOUGHT A 2003 IMPALA IN 2004 AND IT RAN OK FOR A WHILE. THE CAR NOW FAILS TO START INTERMITTENTLY AND I HAVE TO WAIT 10 MINUTES OR MORE FOR THE CAR TO START. THE DEALER STATES THAT IS A SECURITY ALARM PROBLEM, BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I JUST BOUGHT A 2003 CHEVY IMPALA LS. ON MY WAY HOME I TURN ON MY BRIGHTS AND WHEN I WENT TO SHUT THEM OFF IT TURNED ALL MY LIGHTS OFF AND THEY WONT COME BACK ON. MY LIGHTS WILL ONLY COME ON WHEN IN THE BRIGHTS POSITION AND WILL STILL SHUT OFF OCCASIONALLY. SECURITY LIGHT BLINKING CAR WILL NOT START. HAD FIXED AT GM DEALERSHIP FOR $559.00 PICKED IT UP 3 DAYS AGO IT JUST DID THE SAME THING TONIGHT. *TR
I NOTICED A COUPLE OF TIMES IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THAT MY TEMPERATURE INDICATOR STARTED TO INCH ITS WAY OVER TO HOT, NEVER REACHING THE MARK. I TOLD MY HUSBAND AND HE SAID I PROBABLY NEED A FLUSH AND NEW COOLANT. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND I HAD A LEAKING INTAKE GASKET AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. VERY EXPENSIVE! HAD OIL IN THE RADIATOR WITH HARDLY ANY LIQUID LEFT. I STARTED TO READ ABOUT OTHER COMPLAINTS AND THERE WERE SEVERAL SO DECIDED TO REPORT THIS SO OTHERS WILL KNOW THEY ARE NOT ALONE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE BOARD MODULE CONTROL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE MALFUNCTION PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I TOOK MY 2003 CHEVY IMPALA, V6 2.4 L, TO A JIFFYLUBE FOR A STANDARD OIL CHANGE. THERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD A COOLANT LEAK, AND THEY TOPPED-OFF MY ANTIFREEZE FOR ONLY $4.00. SINCE REPAIRS AREN'T AFFORDABLE AT THE MOMENT, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY IMPALA TO SCHOOL AND WORK ONLY. I WAS ON MY WAY TO CLASS EARLY ONE AFTERNOON, ABOUT A WEEK AFTER MY OIL CHANGE AND MY ENGINE WAS OVER HEATING AND ENGINE COOLANT WAS COMPLETELY GONE. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY 2 MILES FROM MY HOME AND HAD A FRIEND RUN SOME ANTIFREEZE AND WATER TO MY BREAK-DOWN LOCATION. I PUT ENOUGH ANTIFREEZE AND WATER INTO THE RADIATOR TO GET ME HOME, WHERE MY CAR WILL SIT UNTIL REPAIRED. IT IS TO MY UNDERSTANDING THAT ALL 2003 V6 2.4 L IMPALAS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IF THAT IS THE CASE, WHY HASN'T GM RECALLED THIS VEHICLE FOR PROPER REPAIRS? AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED FROM A STRUGGLING AMERICAN THAT LIVES IN A REGION OF THE COUNTRY WHERE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IS OBSOLETE AND A MOTORIZED VEHICLE IS A NECESSITY. *TR
THIS CAR FIRST FAILED TO START IN MAY OF 2010. SINCE THEN, IT HAS REPEATEDLY LEFT US DOWN, AND WE AND MECHANICS HAVE TRIED VARIES FIXES. USUALLY THE CAR WILL START AFTER A TEN MINUTE SESSION OF HAVING THE KEY TURNED ON, THEN OFF FOR FIVE SECONDS. MOST TIMES AFTER THAT, IT DOES START. HOWEVER, THIS IS BECOMING UNTENABLE. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE, I FIND THAT I AM ONE OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
2003 CHEVY IMPALA. PASSLOCK STYSTEM THINKS THE CAR IS BEING STOLEN, DISABLING THE IGNITION FOR UP TO 30 MINUTES AT A TIME. SOMETIMES LEAVING YOU STRANDED. ALSO ABS AND TRAC CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE AT 100,00 MILES. NO MORE ABS OR TRAC CONTROL AS PARTS ARE OVER $3,000. OIL SPILL OUT OF FILLER NECK ONTO EXHAUST MANIFOLD, AND RECALL ONLY MOVED SPARK PLUG WIRES, OIL PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS DIM TO COMPLETE DARKENESS, OR SUPER BIRGHT AT ALL DIFFERENT TIMES. ISSUE IS THE DIMMER SWITCH. PISS POOR DESIGN BY GM. MY 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND EVERYONE ELSE WITH THE IMPALA HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL? THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN CHARGING PEOPLE $600 TO CHANGE THE IGNITIAN THAT DOESN'T EVEN FIX THE PROBLEM. THAT IS WHAT THEY CHARGED ME 3 YEARS AGO. THE CAR WILL NOT START ONCE IN AWHILE AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT 15-20 MINUTES FOR IT TO FINALLY START. IT STARTED OUT EVERY OTHER MONTH THEN EVERY MONTH THEN TWICE A MONTH. FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM CANT FILL VEHICLE FUEL TANK PUMP SHUTS OFF AND GAS SPRAYS OUT OF FILL TUBE POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY IMPALA THAT HAS STARTING PROBLEMS(NO START) . SINCE 2004, THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 4 BCM AND PCM MODULES INSTALLED ON THIS CAR FROM THE GM DEALERS IN WHICH I HAVE ALL THE PAPERWORK FOR. FOR THE FIRST YEAR, THE SECURITY LIGHT WOULD COME ON THEN CAR WOULDN'T START FOR 10-15MINS. THEN THE SECOND YEAR CAR WOULDN'T START FOR 30-45MINS. TAKE TO DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS. SO THE THIRD YEAR, AFTER MISSING ALOT OF TIME FROM WORK, IT STARTING DOING THE SAME THING AND I HAD IT TOWED TO GM. THEY HAD IT A WEEK AND STILL FOUND NO PROBLEMS. THEN THE FOLLOWING WEEK THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND TOWED AGAIN- THIS TIME THEY STARTED THROWING PARTS AT IT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE( BILL HEARD IN PLANT CITY,FL). SO AFTER NEW PARTS, IT RAN FOR ABOUT 4-6 MONTHS AND STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. I AGAIN TOOK TO DEALER AND NO PROBLEM FOUND BUT THEY DECIDED TO PUT ANOTHER BCM ON IT. THEN IT WOULD WORK FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN THE SECURITY LIGHT, TRACTION LIGHT,ABS LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND NEXT TIME I TRY TO START IT THEN NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. SO THIS IS HAPPENING ALMOST EVERY OTHER DAY NOW. THIS CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED SO MANY TIMES THAT I AM SICK OF IT AND I KEEP PUTTING MONEY OUT FOR TOWING BILLS AND ALL THE GM DEALER CAN TELL ME IS TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT AGAIN. I HAVE PUT OUT ALOT OF MONEY FOR BCMS EVERY YEAR NOW AND NO WARRANTY NOR MY MONEY BACK FOR DEFECTIVE PARTS. I THINK GM HAS DONE A POOR JOB AT EVALUATING THESE CONCERNS AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER ADVISED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BEFORE REPAIRS COULD BE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DECLINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLIANT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I HAD PURCHASED FOUR DOUGLAS BRAND TIRES FROM WAL-MART MODEL X-TRAC 2. OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS THREE (3) OF THE TIRES HAVE HAD SIDEWALL BLOWOUTS, TWO AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AND ONE WHILE PARKED. THE DOT NUMBER ON THE TIRES ARE PJX3011R3507. ALL THREE BLOWOUTS WERE PRECEDED BY A SLOW AIR LEAK THAT COULD NOT BE FOUND AND ALL THREE HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE ON A VERTICAL LINE FROM THE BASE OF THE TIRES TREAD, ON THE SIDEWALL, TO JUST ABOVE THE BEAD. ALSO, IN ALL THREE CASES, THERE WAS NOT EVIDENCE OF CORD SEPARATION AND BULGING AT THE SITE OF FAILURE. *TR
CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS FAILED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE ENGINE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT WAITED TEN TO FIFTEEN MINUTES AND THE ENGINE STARTED AS NORMAL. IN ADDITION, THE ANTI-THEFT SECURITY WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH OR POSSIBLY AN ELECTRONIC CHIP. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTIONS AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
SECURITY LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMING ON. VEHICLE WILL NOT START FOR 10 MINUTES AFTER INITIAL ATTEMPT TO DRIVE. TRANSMISSION KICKS TERRIBLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. BRAKE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, AND AIRBAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY FLASH WHEN BRAKING. ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY CHECK FINE AT SERVICE. ALL SIGNS POINT TO BCM AND GAUGE CLUSTER. *TR
2003 CHEVY IMPALA 4 DOOR. WHENEVER WE DRIVE THE CAR AT NIGHT WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON HIGH BEAMS THE GO OFF COMPLETELY. SO WHEN WE ARE DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT LIKE 65 IT BECOMES VERY INTERESTING. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONE MINUTE AFTER HIGH BEAMS ARE TURNED ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE WE PURCHASE IN FEBRUARY 2009. WE WANT A VEHICLE RECALL, AS THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE WEBB. DOES ANYBODY HAVE TO DIE BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN BY THE GOV OR GENERAL MOTORS ON THIS PROBLEM WITH THE IMPALA. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO START HOWEVER AFTER 10 MINUTES WOULD START. HIGH BEAM OUT INDICATOR WILL ILLUMINATE BUT AT THE SAME TIME BOTH HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE STUCK ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. MULTIPLE DIAGNOSTICS NO PROBLEM FOUND. REPLACED, BCM OK FOR A WEEK PROBLEM RETURNED. DEALERSHIP STUMPED. *TR
RECURRING PROBLEM: WHEN CLICKING FROM LOW BEAM TO HIGH BEAM OR HIGH/LOW USING THE TURN SIGNAL ARM THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT UNEXPECTEDLY. I'VE BEEN FORCED TO TRAVEL WITH THE FOG LIGHTS ON TO INSURE THAT I HAVE SOME VISION WHEN SWITCHING HIGH/LOW. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND LOSING YOUR HEADLIGHTS! I HAVE FOUND OVER 30 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON-LINE WITHOUT TO MUCH SEARCHING EFFORT. MANY OF THE RESPONDENTS HAVE SAID THAT REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF THE TURN SIGNAL ARM RUNS ABOUT $700. IN VISITING WITH MY DEALER HE HAS INDICATED HE HAS NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM--BUT MY RESEARCH INDICATES IT OCCURS OFTEN? THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED IN LATE DEC. 2009. WE ARE HESITANT TO USE THIS VEHICLE AFTER DARK DUE TO THE PROBLEM. *TR

WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH APPROX. 26M MILES ON IT. IT DID NOT DO THIS FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS WE HAD IT, THEN IT STARTED IT. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY SINCE THE CAR WAS ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD AT THAT TIME. THAT DIDN'T STOP IT FROM DOING IT. SO ON 05/12/2010 I BOUGHT THIS CAR TO A AUTO REPAIR SHOP THEY PERFORM A TEST AND IT CHECK OUT TWO OF THE SHIFT SOLENOIDS FOR THE TRANSMISSION WERE BAD SO THEY REPLACE BOTH SHIFT SOLENOIDS, SIDE COVER GASKET AND TRANSMISSION FILTER. COST ME $1,120.56 WITH IN A WEEK IT WAS STILL ACTING LIKE IT WAS NEVER WORK ON. I STARTED ASKING OTHER OWNERS ABOUT THERE IMPALA THEY ALL SAID IT DID THE SAME TO THEM. THE TRACTION CONTROL IS CONSTANTLY ENGAGING EVEN UNDER IDEAL DRIVING SITUATIONS. IT ENGAGES WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ALSO WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED A NOISE IS HEARD AND A SLIGHT PUSH BACK OF THE BRAKE PEDAL OCCURS. NOISE IS POSSIBLY FROM THE ABS. SINCE THE TWO (TC AND ABS) ARE LINKED IT COULD BE DISRUPTING ONE OR THE OTHER. I HAVE SEARCHED SEVERAL FORUMS AND MANY CONSUMERS ARE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM. MANY HAVE TRIED SEVERAL SOLUTIONS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I PERSONALLY HAVE DISCONNECTED AND CLEANED THE CONNECTIONS BEHIND THE WHEELS AS MENTIONED BY OTHERS.
