4 MICHELIN HYDROEDGE ST P225/60R16 97T TIRES HAVE ONLY 11,020 MILES SINCE PURCHASE AND ARE SHOWING HEAVY CRACKS IN THE OUTER CIRCUMFERENCE TREAD PORTION OF THE TIRE.. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THE TREAD HAS A BAD COMPOUND MIX.. THREE OF THE TIRES SHOW PRODUCTION CODE M33VF6WX5208. THE OTHER TIRE SHOWS M33VF6W4008.. *TR
THE LUG NUTS ON MY VEHICLE SEEM TO SOMEHOW LOOSEN THEMSELVES. THE FRONT DRIVER TIRE WILL MAKE NOISE THEN I LOOK AT THE NUTS TO FIND THAT THEY ARE LOOSE. THEN WHEN I GRAB THE TIRE IRON TO TIGHTEN THEM, THEY EITHER A) CAME LOOSE AGAIN LATER, OR B) THE NUT COMPLETELY COMES OFF...WITH PART OF THE PART THE NUT GOES ON STILL INSIDE. I MEAN THE ENTIRE PART BREAKS AND CAN'T BE FIXED WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE AXLE. AS OF RIGHT NOW THERE ARE ONLY 3 OF THE 5 NUTS HOLDING THE TIRE ON AND THE OTHERS BROKE. *TR
TRACTION ACTIVE MESSAGE COMES ON TURN TRACTION CONTROL TURNS AND ABS LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I PUT CAR IN REVERSE, PULL FORWARD TURN WHEELS TO RIGHT IT MAKES A NOISE NIT A GRINDING NOISE BUT CLOSE AND WHEN MESSAGE COMES UP AND I APPLY BRAKES IT MAKES THAT NOISE. *TR
I HAD PURCHASED FOUR DOUGLAS BRAND TIRES FROM WAL-MART MODEL X-TRAC 2. OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS THREE (3) OF THE TIRES HAVE HAD SIDEWALL BLOWOUTS, TWO AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AND ONE WHILE PARKED. THE DOT NUMBER ON THE TIRES ARE PJX3011R3507. ALL THREE BLOWOUTS WERE PRECEDED BY A SLOW AIR LEAK THAT COULD NOT BE FOUND AND ALL THREE HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE ON A VERTICAL LINE FROM THE BASE OF THE TIRES TREAD, ON THE SIDEWALL, TO JUST ABOVE THE BEAD. ALSO, IN ALL THREE CASES, THERE WAS NOT EVIDENCE OF CORD SEPARATION AND BULGING AT THE SITE OF FAILURE. *TR
I BOUGHT 4 NEW TIRES AT SEARS IN WLILMINGTON, N.C. LAST MAY, I HAVE PUT LESS THAN 12,000 MILES ON THESE TIRES. BEGINNING IN ;APRIL OF 08, I STARTED TO NOTICE A LOW TIRE AND PROCEEDED TO THE STATION TO PUMP IT UP. AS I WAS PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRE I HEARD AIR ESCAPING AND MOVED THE VALVE STEM AND IT WAS LOOSE. I PUT ENOUGH AIR IN IT TO GET AROUND THE CORNER TO THE SERVICE STATION AND HE SAID IT WAS THE STEM. I WAS TRYING TO DECIDE HOW I WAS GOING TO AFFORD A NEW TIRE AND HE SAID THAT HE COULD REPLACE THE VALVE STEM. HE CHARGED ME $10. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT THREE WEEKS LATER AND THEN AGAIN THIS WEEK, MAY 21! THREE TIRES OUT OF FOUR HAVE HAD THE STEMS REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING OVER 40 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO A TIRE, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE STEMS COULD BE REPLACED. I CALLED SEARS AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING A RECEIPT FOR FIXING THE TIRES AND THEY WOULD REFUND THE MONEY. *TR
MY 2003 CHEVY IMPALA HAS A FEATURE FOR SHOWING LOW TIRE PRESSURE. 1ST TIME MY TIRE WAS BELOW 20 LBS WITH A NAIL IN IT AND LOW TIRE PRESSURE DID NOT SHOW. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. 2ND TIME MY TIRE HAD A BLOW-OUT IN THE SIDE WALL. WHILE RUNNING ON A FLAT TIRE, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE DID NOT SHOW. I REPLACED THE FLAT TIRE WITH THE SPARE AND WHEN I DROVE OFF WITH THE SPARE, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE SHOWED. IT IS A GOOD THING THE 2ND TIME WITH THE BLOW OUT AND FLAT TIRE: A.IT WAS ON THE BACK WHEEL AND IT DID NOT AFFECT MY DRIVING AND ON A SLOW CITY STREET. B.IT WAS NOT ON MY FRONT TIRE , WHERE IT WOULD HAVE AFFECTED MY DRIVING AND I WAS NOT ON A FREEWAY, WHERE I MAY HAVE BEEN KILLED FROM IT. TO ME, THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE 2003 CHEVY IMPALA THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND DEATH. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A 3/4 INCH HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDEWALL. UPDATED 09/26/07. *JB
