THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNS ON VERY FREQUENTLY WITHOUT CONTROL,LIGHTAPPEAR CLAIM THAT THE TRACTION SYSTEM NEED SERVICES AND SOME OTHER TIME THE SINF OF THE ABS I CONSTANTLY PUSH THE TRACKING SYSTEM OFF WHEN IS ON BUT DO NOT RESPOND AT OLL. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE. WHEN BRAKING THE CAR MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND CAR IS NOT STOPPING IT FEELS LIKE IT'S LOCKING UP AND MY STEERING GOING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT IN SLIDING WAY TO . IN A SUDDEN STOP NEEDING TO BE MADE IS AT GREAT RISK OF A ACCIDENT, ALREADY WAS CLOSE TO PASS OVER A PEATON THAT WAS MAD AT ME AND HIT MY CAR IN THE BACK BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM THAT I TRAY TO CORRECT BUT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT TO RESOLVE AS SOME AS YESTERYEARS,Y HOPE THAT NOBODY ARE KILL ALREADY,BUT I WILL HOLD STARTING WITH "GM CHEVROLET"RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING WHO HAPPENED TO ME AND FAMILY. *TR
MY VEHICLE RECENTLY STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH OVERHEATING. AS SOON AS IT WOULD WARM UP THE GAUGE WOULD GO THE WHOLE WAY PAST THE HOTTEST POSSIBLE TEMP ON THE DASH. MY HOT COOLANT TEMP LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF TO LET IT COOL. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKETS AND INTAKE GASKETS. HE RESEARCHED IT AND SAID THAT HE FOUND THAT IMPALAS FROM 20003-2007 HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINES BECAUSE OF AN ADDITIVE THAT WAS PUT IN THE ENGINE. I PAID HIM OVER 1000 DOLLARS TO FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE BEFORE I TOOK IT TO HIM I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS THE RADIATOR SO I GOT THAT FIXED WHICH COST ME CLOSE TO 500 DOLLARS. SO EVEN AFTER I GOT BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS FIXED MY CAR STILL OVERHEATS. *TR
MY MECHANIC HAS BEEN DOING A LOT OF WORK ON THIS CAR FOR THE PAST MONTH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY MY CAR COMPLETELY POWERS OFF IF I AM DRIVING ON THE ROAD. AFTER TAKING THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME IT SAYS WE NEED TWO 02 SENSORS REPLACED AND A NEW MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR. ONCE WE TURNED THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION THE CAR BEGAN TO SMOKE AND BURST INTO FLAMES WE PULLED THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND TRIED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BUT GAS LEAKED OUT AND MADE A HUGE FIRE. THE CAR TRIED TO START UP AND WE DID NOT HAVE THE KEYS IN THE CAR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO CUT MY CAR BATTERY OUT BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT GO OUT. FORTUNATELY MY FIANCE' AND I MADE IT OUT OF THE CAR ALIVE. WITH ALL OF THE MONEY I HAVE BEEN PUTTING INTO THIS CAR TO HAVE IT FIXED AND IT CATCHES ON FIRE THIS MAKES ME NOT WANT TO EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CHEVY CAR IN MY LIFE AND I AM ONLY 22 YEARS OLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE VIGOROUSLY WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALER REPLACED ALL FOUR BRAKES, ROTORS, AND TIRES AND PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO RESTART WHEN TURNED OFF FOR THIRTY MINUTES OR LONGER. THE STARTER WAS REPLACED TWICE, BUT THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 161,000.
THE KEY SWITCH IS BAD SOME TIMES AFTER IT IS STARTED ALL DASH IS NOT WORKING AND SECURITY SYSTEM IS LOCKED AND YOU HAVE TO SHUT IT DOWN SOME TIMES MORE THEN ONCE HAVE BEEN TOLD THE KEY SWITCH IS BAD I ASK SOMEONE AT G.M. IF THEY COULD SEND ME THE SWITCH BUT TOLD ME I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP DID THAT AND ALL THAT WAS DONE IS PUT A PIECE OF SOMETHING IN THE KEY THAT DID NOT HELP THAT THE SWITCH IS BAD IS THERE ANY ONE THAT CAN HELP OR JUST SEND ME A SWITCH I CAN PUT IT IN. *TR
HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT,HOLD DIM/BRIGHT SWITCH TO HAVE BRIGHTS ONLY,RELEASE SWITCH TO NORMAL POSITION,LIGHTS GO OUT,NORMAL CLICKING SOUND WHEN ENGAGING DIM/BRIGHTS NOT THERE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP BUT STEERING WHEEL STILL HARD TO TURN, THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE EARLY 2014
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 IMPALA WHEN I HIT A POT HOLE. I TRIED TO TURN AND HIT THE BRAKES AND NOTHING WORKED. I SLAMMED ON MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AND AFTER A WHILE I REALIZED THE CAR HAD SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. A MONTH LATER MY BOYFRIEND HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE DRIVING IT. *TR
SWITCH BECAME DIFFICULT TO CHANGE TO HIGH BEAMS, SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS WOULD GO BLACK. NOW HIGH BEAMS ONLY STAY ON BY HOLD SWITCH BACK. *TR
ABS AND TRAC OFF LIGHTS COME ON EVERY TIME I START THE CAR AND STAY ON TILL I TURN IT OFF. CAN'T SEEM TO FIX IT. *TR

TWO DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A TUNE UP. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER THE SAME AFTER THE TUNE UP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 15V201000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGE STOPPED WORKING, THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT THE SPEEDOMETER OR TACHOMETER IS. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA DEALER HAS NOT RECEIVED PART FOR RECALL *CN THE CONSUMER STATED IN DECEMBER 2013, HE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER, INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPING TO ZERO. A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE SPEEDOMETER IN THE CLUSTER HAD APPARENTLY GONE BAD. THE CLUSTER WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY STATED THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE PART WAS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM DID NOT RETURN. *JB
AS I AM DRIVING MY CAR TODAY IN A 25 MPH ZONE, I REALIZE THAT MY SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS THE SPEED OF 105. AFTER READING THROUGH SEVERAL FORUMS TODAY I AM SHOCKED AT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON A 2004 IMPALA. MY CAR HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT NOW I HAVE TO PAY AROUND $600 TO HAVE SOMETHING FIXED THAT CLEARLY SHOULD BE A RECALL. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HOW MANY COMPLAINTS/PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME PARTS JUSTIFIES A RECALL? COME ON GM, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!! *TR
THE TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING. AFTER PANICKING AND TURNING ON HAZARD LIGHTS, THEN AGAIN TRYING THE TURN SIGNALS, DID THEY DECIDE TO BEGIN WORKING AGAIN. NOW THE TURN SIGNALS RANDOMLY DECIDE TO STOP WORKING, AND MUST USE THE HAZARD TRICK AGAIN TO GET THEM WORKING. ALMOST CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS, AND CAUSED A TRAFFIC TICKET. CAN NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AS TO WHY THEY DO THIS, BUT READ UP ON MANY DIFFERENT SITES THAT MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME DIFFICULTIES. VERY DANGEROUS FOR PEOPLE WITH CHILDREN. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CUSTOMER RECEIVED REPAIRS DUE TO RECALL AND IS REQUESTING REPAIRS. *TA THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD TO HESITATE AND THEN JERK. PIECES OF METAL WERE DISCOVERED IN THE TRANSMISSION PAN INDICATING AN INTERNAL FAULT. ALSO, THE IGNITION AND CYLINDER WERE REPLACED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ACTIVATED WHEN THEY SUDDENLY FAILED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS HOWEVER, THEY ALSO FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 210,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 214,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

(1) HEATING SYSTEM FAILED. NO HEAT, COOLANT WAS OK. FAN WAS RUNNING. DEALER EXAMINED. THREE ACTUATORS IN THE ELECTRONICS ARE FAILED AND HAVE TO REPLACE AT A COST OF OVER $550.00 (2) TEMPERATURE GAUGE STOPPED MOVING. DEALER EXAMINED. ESTIMATED COST OF $~400.00 TO REPLACE IPC UNIT. THERE IS ONE OF THE RECALLED IPC UNITS FOR GM AUTOS MADE BETWEEN 2003-2007; BUT IMPALA WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL LIST. I DON'T KNOW WHY? SAME ELECTRONICS FAILED IN ONE UNIT MUST BE RECALLED FROM ALL THE UNITS.. THESE DEFECTS COULD INCREASE HEAT IN THE ENGINE BLOCK AND COULD INCREASE FUEL CONSUMPTION, FAILURE OF THE ENGINE AND POSSIBLY CAUSE FIRE, CONTACTED GM BUT THEY WERE NOT COOPERATIVE AND DENIED ANY CLAIMS. *TR

WHEN YOU TRY START VEHICLE SECURITY LIGHT COMES ON AND VEHICLE DOES NOT START. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE NOTED ONLINE AND CUSTOMERS ARE SPENDING MONEY ON BATTERIES AND OTHER PARTS WITHOUT A FIX. GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE SEEMS LIKE MANY NOTES ARE INDICATING DISGUST WITH THE COMPANY NOT RESPONDING TO THIS ISSUE.

SINCE LAST YEAR I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS TWICE BECAUSE OF A GRINDING/SQUEALING NOISE. NOW I NEED TO REPLACE THEM AGAIN ( 4-19-14 ). WHEN EVER I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WILL VIBRATE AND MAKES NOISES,IF I APPLY THE BRAKES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THE BRAKE PEDAL (VIBRATES A LOT )AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WICKED. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER SHIP ( BALISE OF WARWICK,RI )WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT FROM(MY FATHER-IN-LAW BOUGHT THE CAR THERE)AND ASK ABOUT ANY RECALLS....THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WEREN'T ANY RECALLS FOR MY CAR. GEE I WONDER IF THE PERSON THAT TOLD ME THAT WAS JUST LAZY OR IF THERE AREN'T ANY RECALLS FOR IT. CAN SOMEONE LET ME KNOW PLEASE...I HAVE MY GRANDSON IN THE CAR A LOT. *TR
CAR MAKES A POPPING NOISE FROM STEERING. THE CAR STARTED SHIFTING HARD OCCASIONALLY BUT THEN GOES AWAY. THE STEERING WILL GET TIGHT THEN REALLY LOOSE. CAR FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ESPECIALLY OVER A BUMPY ROAD FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE LOOSE WHEELS. THE CAR ONLY HAS 78,800 MILES ON IT. THIS IS INSANE AND I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A CHEVROLET! I HAVE KIDS AND FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING MY CAR WITH THEM IN IT! I WRECKED THIS VEHICLE WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY BRAKES AND THE WHEELS SQUEALED BUT DID NOT LOCK UP NOR DID IT STOP! HEADLAMPS TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING ON A RURAL AND CURVY ROAD, MY LIGHTS WHEN OUT WHEN I SWITCHED FROM MY HIGH BEAMS TO MY LOW BEAMS. I COULD NOT SEE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND LUCKILY THE HIGH BEAMS CAME ON WHEN I USED THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH TO ENGAGE THEM. I AM LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS COMING BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO SEE WHERE I WAS GOING. THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH DID NOT ?CLICK? LIKE IT TYPICALLY DOES WHEN I SWITCH FROM HIGH BEAMS TO LOW BEAMS. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED WHEN I WAS DRIVING BUT IF THIS HAPPENS IN THE FUTURE TO SOMEONE ELSE THERE COULD BE TRAGIC RESULTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIGHT DIMMER SWITCH FAILED TO ACTIVATE AND WAS ABLE TO ACTIVATE ONLY ONE SETTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THIS AUTOMOBILE AND, UNTIL THIS DATE, WE HAVE HAD NO SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. ON THE ABOVE DATE, THE TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER CEASED TO WORK PROPERLY. THE TACHOMETER WENT TO ZERO BUT THE SPEEDOMETER WENT UP AND DOWN SPORADICALLY. THE ENTIRE REST OF OUR VACATION, OVER A TWO WEEK PERIOD, BOTH WOULD CEASE WORKING UNTIL AUTO WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR DEALERSHIP AND, AFTER SCANNING ON THEIR MACHINE, WAS INFORMED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED REPAIR OR TOTAL REPLACEMENT AND WAS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY AND THE ALMOST $500.00 COST WOULD BE OUR RESPONSIBILITY. WE FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, NO MATTER THE AGE OF THE CAR OR THE MILEAGE, AND SHOULD BE AT LEAST PARTIALLY PAID FOR BY GENERAL MOTORS. WE THEN FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO ASSIST US WITH THE COST. WE CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT THE REACTION WOULD BE IF AN ELDERLY PERSON OR AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THEIR SPEEDOMETER SHOT UP TO 90-100 MPH WHAT THEIR REACTION WOULD BE. IT IS DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THIS WOULD NOT BE CLASSIFIED AS A SAFETY ISSUE. ANY ASSISTANCE WE RECEIVE IN ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA THIS EVENING AND HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES FOR THE PAST MONTH WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. THE DIM LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL, ONLY THE BRIGHTS WORKED. WE NOW HAVE NO HEADLIGHTS AND HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. I HAVE SEEN THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY IMPALAS AND CHEVROLET NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION. SOMEONE COULD BE INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THEIR LIGHTS FAILING OR GET INJURED BECAUSE THEIR CAR STARTS ON FIRE. IT'S A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR

RADIATOR TEMP SENSOR, WATER PUMP, HEATER, WATER PUMP BEARING, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, LOW COOLANT SENSOR, RADIATOR, VSS, KEY STUCK IN IGNITION, LOCK CYLINDER, 8 WIRES UNDER HOOD SHREDDED IN HALF DUE TO RUBBING ON BELT, POWER LOCK WONT WORK ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR, CHIMES GO OFF WHEN KEY NOT IN IGNITION. MY PROBLEM NOW IS KEY LOCKED UP AGAIN FINALLY GOT IT TO TURN THEN ANTI THEFT SYSTEM COMES ON AND THE CAR WONT REPROGRAM CODES. MY CODE READER SAYS IT CANT READ FROM CAR. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE KEY IGNITION CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WHEN COMING TO A ALMOST STOP AND U START TO TAKE OFF ITS LIKE THE CAR ISN'T IN GEAR THE AFTER THE RPMS GO UP IT JUMPS IN GEAR SPINNING THE TIRES. THEN IT WILL PAUSE IN BETWEEN GEARS AND MAKE A THUMP WHEN IT GOES IN GEAR FROM 0-55. GM NEEDS TO FIX ALL THESE PROBLEMS WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS. WE ALREADY PAID FOR THE TRANSMISSIONS WHEN WE ALL BOUGHT THE CARS FROM THE DEALERS AND SOME ARE NOT EVEN GETTING HALF THE MILES I GOT BEFORE THEY HAVE PROBLEMS. I DISCOVERED I COULD MAKE THEM COME BACK ON IF I USED THE MULTIFUNCTION LEVER TO CHANGE TO BRIGHT LIGHTS. I'D THEN SWITCH BACK TO DIM AND THE LIGHTS WOULD WORK FOR 60-120 SECONDS AND THEN GO OUT. ONCE AGAIN I WOULD GO THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS WITH THE SAME RESULT. AFTER MY SECOND NIGHT OF THIS HAPPENING I DECIDED TO CHECK THEIR INNER NET . I HAD NOTICED THERE WERE 26 COMPLAINTS RELATING TO THE 2004 MULTIFUNCTION LEVER. I HAD A CAR LOAD OF PEOPLE THE FIRST NIGHT AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD I DID NOT HIT ANOTHER CAR . THE MULTIFUNCTION SELECTOR LEVER NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ON 2004 IMPALAS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY HURT. CAR WOULD NOT START SECURITY LIGHT BLINKING ,LET IT SIT FOR 15 MINUTES THEN IT STARTS, REALLY DISAPPOINTED . *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WITH MY BRIGHT LIGHTS ON AND SUDDENLY MY HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF. I REACHED DOWN AND PULLED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THINKING IT WAS THE DAY TIME DRIVING LIGHTS, BUT THEY STILL DID NOT TURN ON. IN A PANIC I FLIPPED THE DIMMER SWITCH ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEY CAME ON. SINCE THEN I HAPPENED AGAIN WITH MY BRIGHTS ABOUT A MONTH AGO BUT HAPPENED 4 TIMES LAST NIGHT, WITH MY BRIGHTS AND DIMS, ON MY 6 MILE DRIVE HOME. I HAVE OWNED DOZENS OF CARS IN MY LIFE, MOST CHEVROLET, AND NEVER HAD A FAILURE OF THIS MAGNITUDE WHILE DRIVING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS FAILURE AND A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AS I HAVE TEENAGERS THAT DRIVE MY CAR AND MAY NOT HAVE BE ABLE TO SAFELY RESOLVE AN ISSUE LIKE THIS WITH OUT INJURY. *TR

AFTER COMPLAINING ON A CHEVY FORUM, I BOUGHT A USED MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WHICH I LEARNED WAS A COMMON PROBLEM IN IMPALAS AND MONTI CARLOS. THIS YEAR IN SPRING (SORRY I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT DATE OR MILES) THAT PART MALFUNCTIONED WHEN ON BRIGHT. THE SALVAGE YARD WAS SOLD OUT IN USED SWITCHES BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH A COMMON DEFECT AND I COULDN'T AFFORD A NE,W ONE. WHILE DRIVING ON DIM I HIT TWO DEER WHICH CAUSED $100S OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGES. I COMPLAINED CHEVY SAID THEY KNEW IT WAS A PROBLEM AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PART MYSELF. I PAID OVER $300 TO REPLACE WITH MY LABOR. THEN MY LIGHTS WENT OUT ON DIM. CHEVY DID THE MATH, ITS CHEAPER TO TAKE THE CHANCE O SOMEONE DYING AND SUING THEN TO TAKE AWAY THIS MONEY SOURCE FOR DEALERS *TR

IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR WOULD ILLUMINATE AFTER DRIVING IN REVERSE AND THEN IN DRIVE. I HAVE HAD MY 2004 IMPALA INTO THE SHOP THREE TIMES NOW WITH REGARDS TO THE TRACTION LIGHT GOING ON WHEN I TURNED ALONG WITH TRAC OFF AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS GOING ON. INITIALLY THE SERVICE LIGHTS WOULD GO ON WHEN TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT. THE ABS WOULD MAKE A NOISE LIKE IT WAS CYCLING. JUST LAST WEEK ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRACTION SERVICE LIGHT WENT ON WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH. I HAVE HAD TO STOP AND THE BRAKES WOULD PULSATE WITH NO BRAKING CAPABILITIES THEN IT WOULD CATCH AND I WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP WITH PUMPING THE BRAKE. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. THE FIRST TIME A REPAIR WAS MADE TWO WEEKS AGO AND REPLACED WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES ON BOTH FRONT TIRES AND FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED. THIS IS TIME FRAME WENT THE BRAKES WENT OUT. I WAS TOLD THE BACK BRAKES WERE OK. THE SECOND TIME - THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE RIGHT BEARING AFTER THE LIGHTS WENT ON AGAIN AFTER 5 DAYS OF DRIVING. NOW IT IS IN THE SHOP TO REPLACE THE WIRE HARNESS FOR THE TRACTION AND ABS WHEN THE SERVICE LIGHTS WENT ON AGAIN. THE WIRE IS ROCK HARD. *TR
CHEVY IMPALA 2004 LS- THE VEHICLE IS STOPPING COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING AT INTERSECTION. THERE IS NO WARNING, NO MESSAGE, IT JUST DIES. THE STEERING GOES WHEN THIS HAPPENS SO I CANNOT EVEN GET OFF THE ROAD. THEN THERE ARE TIMES THAT THE CAR WILL NOT START AT ALL AND I HAVE BEEN STRANDED. EVENTUALLY AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES THE CAR WILL START- I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE STARTER BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR CHECKED OUT AT 2 DIFFERENT SHOPS (FIRESTONE) AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE NO CODES COMING UP. THEY ARE COMPLETELY PERPLEXED. CHEVY STATES THEIR MECHANICS ARE BETTER. ALSO THE CLUSTER PANEL IS GONE AND CHEVY IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY ONLY RECALLED CERTAIN MODELS AND DID NOT INCLUDE THE IMPALAS. I HAVE 2 ESTIMATES REGARDING FIXING THIS PROBLEM BUT THE QUOTES ARE $500.00. I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS WHEN CHEVY KNEW THEY HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH CLUSTER PANELS AND OMITTED THE IMPALAS IN THEIR RECALL. SO, TO RECAP: THE CAR DIES IN TRAFFIC (ALMOST HIT TWICE), I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE, HOW FAST I AM GOING, OR IF THE CAR IS OVERHEATING. IN DEALING WITH CHEVY I WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEY GAVE ME A PLACE THAT IS 2 1/2 HOURS HOUSE AWAY FROM MY HOME. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE THE HONOR OF PAYING FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE PULLED UP SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CHEVY IMPALA 2004 OWNERS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MOST OF THE COMPLAINTS ARE STATING THAT THE SAME ISSUES OCCURRED AT APPROX. THE SAME MILEAGE AS MINE. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BASICALLY THAT WAS IGNORED. THIS CAR IS HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE AND POTENTIALLY WILL CAUSE BODILY HARM. DEALING WITH CHEVY IS POINTLESS. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE , SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT START. NO IGNITION. THERE IS POWER BUT NOT IGNITION. AFTER I WAIT 10 MINUTES IT WILL START. IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS IS A SECURITY SWITCH IN THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE SHUTS THE CAR DOWN, SO THE CAR CANNOT BE STARTED. AND AFTER 10 MINUTES EXACTLY THE VEHICLE WILL START. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER INDIVIDUALS THAT STATE THAT THEY TOO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. NO TEMPERATURE LIGHT CAME ON BUT CAR STARTED TO SMOKE A LITTLE UNDERNEATH HOOD. STOPPED CAR AT AN EMPTY LOT, AND HAD IT TOWED TO A GARAGE. THEY SAID MY ENGINE HAD OVERHEATED AND NEEDED A NEW HEAD GASKET. IT HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD A HEAD GASKET PUT ON IT ABOUT A YEAR AGO, SO THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SECOND ONE. MECHANIC ADVISED ME NOT TO HAVE A SECOND HEAD GASKET JOB BUT INSTEAD ADVISED ME TO GET ANOTHER ENGINE FOR THE CAR. *TR

THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT A YEAR ON AND OFF. STARTED AT ABOUT 80,000 MILES. SOMETIMES ONLY ONE OF THE ABOVE CONDITIONS OCCUR AND SOMETIMES ALL AT ONCE. PROBLEMS HAPPEN DAY AND NIGHT, DAMP OR DRY, USUALLY ONLY OCCUR DURING ENGINE START UP, BUT OCCASIONALLY HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. I FOUND A TRICK TO MAKE THE HEAD LIGHTS COME ON (TURNING ON AND OFF MY HAZARD LIGHTS). MY FOG LIGHTS ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THESE ISSUES. I HAVE HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE THAT IS THE DIRECTION EVERYONE POINTS ME TOO. BOTH ARE GOOD. I SEE OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HOPE THIS GETS LOOK INTO. *TR
