FUEL STOPPED WORKING. TEMP GAUGE AS WELL. *TR
WHEN THE IMPALA IS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE THE ENGINE DIES WHEN YOU REMOVE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AS WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN . IF THE ENGINE HAS NOT REACHED NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE THIS DOES NOT OCCUR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH THE CRUISE SET TO 65 MPH, THE NEEDLE ON THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO SLOWLY SHOW A DECREASE IN SPEED EVENTHOUGH THE ACTUAL SPEED OF THE CAR DID NOT CHANGE. OVER THE NEXT 50 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUED TO DECREASE UNTIL IT WAS BELOW 0 ALTHOUGH THE CARS SPEED STAYED A 65MPH. SINCE THEN SIMILAR PROBLEMS APPEARED WITH THE RPM GAUGE WHERE THE NEEDLE SHOWS IT REDLINING EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS IDLING. *TR

SPEEDOMETER GETTING STUCK & NOT REGISTERING PROPERLY. DRIVER IS NOT ABLE TO TELL WHAT SPEED THE CAR IS TRAVELING AT. THIS COULD RESULT IN TRAFFIC INFRACTIONS FOR AN OTHERWISE VERY GOOD DRIVING RECORD & COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. CHEVROLET REALLY NEEDS TO STEP UP & FIX THIS ISSUE AS RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL, & YEAR. A FAMILY MEMBER ALSO HAS THE SAME CAR BUT THE BASE MODEL & HIS GAS GAUGE SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING ABOUT A YEAR AGO. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE LOSS POWER WITHOUT WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER OF THE OPPOSE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SHOULDER INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
NOTICED A SMELL AND STARTED SEEING SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. TURNED OFF CAR AND CHECKED TO FIND OUT THE BLOWER MOTOR, RESISTER AND HARNESS MELTED. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES NOW WITH BOTH THE SPEEDOMETER AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE. I START THE CAR AND START DRIVING AND HAPPEN TO LOOK DOWN AND EITHER THE SPEEDOMETER OR THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WILL BE GIVING A FALSE HIGH READING. SEEING AS THE CAR HAD JUST STARTED IT COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE OVERHEATING. I FIND IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND CYCLE THE KEY FROM OFF TO ON WITHOUT STARTING ENGINE I CAN GET IT TO DROP BACK TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE. I HEAR THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND IT WILL FAIL EVENTUALLY. I DRIVE HIGHWAYS MOSTLY AND NOT KNOWING MY CORRECT SPEED WHEN TRYING TO ENTER AND MERGE WITH TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

JUST BOUGHT A 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA, HAVING BAD PROBLEMS WITH REAR BRAKES, DRAGGING REALLY BAD. SOMETIMES JUST 1 IS DRAGGING, NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. EVERY SERVICE I TALK TO GIVES ME A 1500-3000 DOLLAR ESTIMATE TO REPLACE EVERYTHING , I'VE TALKED TO GENERAL MOTORS SEVERAL TIMES THEY SEEM TO BE IN DENIAL ABOUT THE PROBLEMS GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLE.I THINK THEY SHOULD FIX IT SENSE EVERY WERE I LOOK EVERYBODY IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AT AT 6:30 AM ON 9-24-13 WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF. IT WAS PITCH DARK AND I WAS TOTALLY WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS. I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON THE FOG LIGHTS THIS CAR HAS, BUT IT WAS STILL HARD TO SEE. I HAVE NOTICED THE LIGHTS SEEMED DIMMER THAN WHAT I CONSIDER NORMAL. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL MECHANIC. HE CANNOT FIND THE REASON FOR THE DIM LIGHTS OR THE LIGHTS GOING OFF BY THEMSELVES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM SURPRISED A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED TO ADDRESS THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN I CONDUCTED A GOOGLE SEARCH I NOTICED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH A NUMBER OF GM VEHICLES. IT IS A WONDER I DID NOT CRASH MY VEHICLE AS I NEVER EXPECTED MY LIGHT TO GO OUT AS I TRAVELED DOWN A HIGHWAY. *JS

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHENEVER HE ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD VIBRATE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE SPEEDOMETER HAD MALFUNCTIONED SHOWING ERRONEOUS READING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER.THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGES 41,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000 .

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:07E021000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER). THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70000.
AUGUST 2013 INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT, QUICK DECELERATION, FRONTAL CRASH. OTHER DRIVER PULLED INTO TRAFFIC, WITH HER VIEW BLOCKED OF MOVING TRAFFIC APPROACHING HER. ONCE THE TRUCK DRIVING IN FRONT OF ME TURNED SHE WAS STOPPED IN THE ROADWAY. I ATTEMPTED TO STOP MY CAR QUICKLY BUT DID NOT HAVE MORE THAN 4 SECONDS IN WHICH TO STOP MY CAR. I IMPACTED THE FRONT END, DRIVER SIDE QUARTER PANEL, AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF A 2005 HONDA CIVIC. THE 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA SHOULDER HARNESS LOCKING MECHANISM FAILED. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. MY BODY PROPELLED FORWARD UPON BRAKING AND I IMPACTED WITH A FULLY EXTENDED SHOULDER HARNESS. THE LENGTH OF THE SHOULDER HARNESS ONLY EXTENDS TO 1.5 INCHES FROM THE STEERING WHEEL, MY BODY CONTINUED TO TRAVEL BEYOND THE EXTENSION OF THE HARNESS CAUSING INJURY TO MY LEFT CLAVICLE, UPPER STERNUM, NECK, SHOULDERS AND RIBS. MY UPPER BODY, STERNUM AND TORSO HIT THE STEERING RESULTING IN WHIPLASH, TO INCLUDE ABDOMINAL, NECK, STERNUM, CLAVICLE, SHOULDER AND SCAPULOTHORACIC INJURIES. MY KNEE HIT THE DASH UNDERNEATH THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR

FIRST HAPPEN AROUND 8-12-2013,DRIVING FROM BALTIMORE MD., TO SYRACUSE N.Y,STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT TO GET ON HIGHWAY TO SYRACUSE CAR TURN OFF AND WOULD NOT START, I CALLED AAA AUTO, AFTER ALONG WHILE WAITING FOR AAA AUTO, I TURN THE CAR KEY AND THE CAR STARTED, I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN STARTING MY CAR, ALL YEAR, FROM JAN. THROUGH NOW (JUNE 2014). *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT 45MPH AND SUDDENLY MY SPEEDOMETER AND INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT CRAZY. IT SAID I WAS GOING 120MPH. FURTHERMORE, MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS INACCURATE CAUSING MY CAR TO OVERHEAT. THIS CAUSED THE HEAD GASKETS TO BLOW AND OTHER PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE SPENT OVER $1,900.00 FIXING THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WHICH IS OVER $2,000.00. CHEVROLET KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET CHOOSES TO SIT ON THE SIDELINES AS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN WITH CHEVROLET TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES. THANK YOU *TR
ESC AND ABS TURN ON AT LOW SPEED USUALLY COMING OUT OF STOPPING POSITION, OR DURING BRAKING. HAVE HAD FRONT WHEELBEARINGS REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES TO NO EFFECT. WIRING CHECKS OUT. NO CODES THAT THE MECHANIC CAN DETERMINE WOULD BE CAUSING THIS ISSUE. EVENTUALLY TRACTION AND ABS TURN OFF AND SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM LIGHTS COME ON. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE FOR WINTER DRIVING. *JS
DRIVING 2005 CHEVY IMPALA ON INTERSTATE 95 NORTH WHEN VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY WENT OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO THE GUARDRAIL, VEHICLE BOUNCED OFF OF GUARDRAIL AND SPUN AROUND THREE TIMES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP WITH VEHICLE RESTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IN THE CORRESPONDING DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY START, BUT AFTER TWO OR THREE ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE DID NOT START AGAIN AND HAD TO BE TOWED FROM ACCIDENT SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. *TR

HAD CHEVY DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS FUEL FILTER REPLACED IT GUESS WHAT STILL HAD FUMES AFTER DRIVING HALF A MILEHAD CAR SINCE 2006 .80000 MILES ON CAR 68 YEAR OLD , CAR IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, CAN'T DRIVE OR WOULD END UP IN HOSPITAL. GM DEALER TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL . SOMEBODY HAS ROCKS IN THERE HEAD. FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2011 WITH 160,000 MILES ON IT AND FOUR MONTHS LATER MY ENTIRE STEERING GOES OUT SO I HAD NO POWER STEERING THE PEOPLE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL ME ABOUT IT AND THE CAR WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY SO WHEN WE TOLD THEM ABOUT IT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO FIX IT. WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDAL FROM A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT, I HEAR A GRINDING/ SLIPPING SOUND AND THEN A LOUD POP AND THE CAR JERKS INTO GEAR. THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM 2 WEEKS AGO GAVE ME A 30 DAY OR 1000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR THE PAST 2 DAYS .THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE SYMPTOM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND HUNDREDS OF ONLINE REPORTS OF THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVISE ON RECOURSE. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE GAUGES PROVIDED INCORRECT READINGS, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED, AND THE ABS, CHECK ENGINE, AND MULTIPLE OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP AND MULTIPLE PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V201000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
COOLANT LEAKING NOW THE COOLANT LIGHT IS ON WHEN AT A STOP AND A WHISTLING NOISE HAPPENS AFTER A LONG RIDE. *TR
IT STARTED WITH THE TACHOMETER NOT READING RIGHT, THEN IT STARTED WORKING, THEN STOPPED, NOW THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER IS NOT WORKING RIGHT, IF I TURN OFF THE CAR OR BE AT A NON-MOVING STATE IT WILL READ ANYWHERE FROM 10-20MPH, IF I AM DRIVING IT WILL READ OR NOT AT ALL, NOTHING IS ACCURATE...GOOD GRIEF MY CAR HAS UNDER 41000 MILES ON IT. IT SEEMS LIKE TO ME AFTER LOOKING AT THE EXTENSIVE COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM WITH THE IMPALAS, CHEVROLET WOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS RIDICULOUS ISSUE. IT CERTAINLY MAKES ME NOT WANT TO BUY ANOTHER CHEVROLET AGAIN! IN MARCH 5 2013 I WAS DRIVING WHILE A DOG RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR NEXT TO ME AND MYSELF CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AS THE OWNER CAME AND GOT HER DOG FROM THE STREET. AS SOON AS THE OWNER GOT THE DOG A CAR DOING 50+MPH IN A 35MPH ZONE WAS TEXTING AND DRIVING AND THE DRIVER DIDN'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO BRAKE. THE DRIVER REAR ENDED ME SO HARD THAT THE CAR MOVED OVER 15FT. MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AND ALSO MY SEAT BELTS NEVER LOCKED SO DUE TO THAT MY FACE BROKE THE WINDSHIELD. I SUFFERED A LOT OF INJURIES. BROKE MY LEFT FOOT, REALLY HURT MY NECK AND SHOULDER. IF MY AIRBAGS WOULD HAVE DEPLOYED I WOULD NOT OF BEEN BADLY INJURED LIKE I WAS. THE 2005 IMPALA WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED. THE IMPACT PUSHED THE TRUNK INTO THE REAR SEATS. *TR

WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR I NOTICED THAT WHILE DRIVING IT WOULD SOUND LIKE IT WANTED TO CUT OFF AND EVENTUALLY IT DID EVERY TIME I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. EVENTUALLY IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. HAD TO GET THE FUEL REGULATOR PUMP CHANGED TWICE. THEN MY CAR WAS CLAIMING TO BE OVERHEATING SO I CHANGED THE THERMOSTAT, TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND FAN RELAYS. BUT MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS READING OUT OF WHACK SAYING MY CAR IS OVERHEATING WHEN ITS NOT. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER MY SPEEDOMETER JUST STARTED ACTING UP AS WELL . IT KEEP MOVING UP ALL AROUND AND SOMETIMES MAY STAY ON ZERO. YESTERDAY IT MADE A COMPLETE 360 AND IS STUCK IT AT THE BOTTOM. A COWORKER WAS JUS TELLING ME ABOUT HER CHEVY TRUCK SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS LAST WEEK AND LITERALLY WITHIN A WEEKS TIME THE EXACT THING HAPPENS TO ME WITH NO WARNING. THERE MUST NEED TO BE A RECALL IF I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO FINISH TYPING CHEVY IMPALA AND SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS AUTOMATICALLY POPS UP!!!! *TR
PROBLEMS BEFORE GM RECALL 14350/CAMPAIGN ID 14V400. PROBLEM 1 THE IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUED TO STILL ENGAGE AFTER VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND KEY WAS IN THE RUN POSITION. PROBLEM 2 AFTER TURNING THE KEY TO STOP ENGINE WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN UNTIL YOU JIGGLED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. PROBLEM 3 HITTING A POT HOLE AT 45 MPH SHUT THE CAR OFF LUCKY MY QUICK REACTION WAS PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE CAR. SEPTEMBER 2014 RECEIVED THE SAFETY RECALL FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS AS CLAIMED WHICH MADE ME LAUGH CAUSE THE ONLY THING I HAD ON THE KEY RING WAS THE KEY AND ENTRY REMOTE. NOVEMBER 2014 RECALL WAS DONE WITH A PLASTIC INSERT ON THE KEY TO KEEP THE WEIGHT CENTER MASS ON THE KEY. AS OF THIS DAY MARCH 2015 I STILL HAVE ALL 3 PROBLEMS I STATED EARLIER, THAT RECALL HAS NOT FIXED THE UNDER LINING PROBLEM OF A DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH ITS NOT THE KEY ITS THE SWITCH ITSELF BECAUSE THE CAR STILL DOES ALL THE PROBLEMS I MENTIONED IN THE BEGINNING, I FIND THIS A CHEAP AND SCARY NO FIX BUT TO SATISFY ANYONE WHO THINKS THIS WAS A FIX BUT IN REALITY WILL CAUSE MORE HARM. MY WIFE WAS SITTING STILL AT A RED LIGHT ON A ROAD WITH A 50MPH SPEED LIMIT. THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SEE THE RED LIGHT OR HER CAR & REAR ENDED HER AT FULL SPEED. THE BACK OF HER SEAT SNAPPED ALL THE WAY BACK AND THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT LODGED UPWARD CAUSING HER THIGHS AND PELVIC AREA TO BE SEVERELY COMPRESSED BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND SEAT WHILE HER HEAD WAS JOSTLED AROUND VIGOROUSLY DUE TO THE LACK OF BACK SUPPORT. HER SEATBELT WAS ON AND WORN PROPERLY. HER BODY WAS THROWN FORWARD THEN SLAMMED BACK HARD. SHE SUSTAINED INJURY AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BRAIN CONTUSION AND SEVERE WHIPLASH BY THE TRAUMA UNIT AFTER BEING RUSHED VIA AMBULANCE TO THE NEAREST LOCAL HOSPITAL. *TR

MY 2005 CHEVY IMPALA INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO START. IT WILL RESTART AFTER WAITING ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES. THIS IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM (POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE) I HAD WITH A PREVIOUSLY OWNED 2000 IMPALA, AND OTHER FRUSTRATED IMPALA OWNERS EXPRESS ONLINE. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND JERKS UPON TAKE OFF INTERMITTENTLY.
IGNITION PROBLEMS. SOMETIMES VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND THE SECURITY LIGHT WILL COME ON. OTHER TIMES THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE TROUBLE STARTING AND THE IGNITION DOES NOT CATCH TO START AND TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPT TO SUCCESSFUL START. A FEW TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED AND AFTER MOVING 500FT OR MORE IT STALLED AND LOST ALL CONTROL OF BRAKES AND STEERING. *TR
FIRST... MY CAR ALL OF THE SUDDEN STARTED LEAKING LIKE AN OIL TANKER LAST JANUARY 2012, AND THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP, AND HAD MAJOR REPAIR WORK DONE ON TRANSMISSION, AND ENGINE FOR LEAKS. SPENT $2100 AND WAS QUOTE $2600 TO REPLACE THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL MODULATOR FOR MY ABS/TRACTION CONTROL TO WORK AGAIN. THE CODE THEY PULLED WAS C1218. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET. A MONTH AFTER SPENDING THIS MONEY, I HAD TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP, AND ALMOST A YEAR LATER I HAD TO REPLACE A PLASTIC ELBOW FROM THE WATER PUMP TO MY RADIATOR WHICH WAS ANOTHER $300. THEN THIS PAST DECEMBER 2012, MY TRANSMISSION ALL OF THE SUDDEN JERKED HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND SO ON DURING LOCAL DRIVING. MAX SPEED LIMIT IS 40MPH LOCALLY. TOOK IT TO CHEVY AND WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION, SO I TOOK IT FOR A SECOND OPINION AND WAS TOLD CODE P1811 WAS CODED FOR A LONG SHIFT, BUT THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS A 1/2 QUART LOW SO THEY FILLED IT WITH TRANS ADDITIVE. THEY SUGGESTED I TRY A "TRANSMISSION SHOP" FOR THEM TO CHECK BECAUSE MAYBE MY TRANS SOLENOID WAS BAD, WHICH WOULD STILL COST QUITE A BIT FOR REPAIR, BUT NOT NEARLY AS MUCH AS A NEW TRANSMISSION. MY CAR HAS 122,000 LONG HIGHWAY MILES, NOT LOCAL; STOP & GO. I DO NOT FEEL MY ABS/TRACTION CONTROL, NOR MY TRANS SHOULD BE BAD. I MAINTAIN MY CAR, AND BASED ON MY INTERNET SEARCHES MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS WITH THESE CARS. I EMAILED CHEVY AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THIS IS MY PROBLEM AND NO CONCESSION WAS OFFERED ON THEIR PART TO ASSIST ME WITH THESE REPAIRS. I HAVE BEEN LAID OFF FROM MY JOB, AND RETURNED TO SCHOOL SO NEEDLESS TO SAY CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR, BUT THIS CAR IS COSTING MORE THAN IT IS WORTH. THE SPEED ODOMETER REMAINED AT ZERO REGARDLESS UPON THE SPEED THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. IN ADDITION, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER IN REGARD TO THE FAILURE AND A REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED THAT IF HE DID NOT SEE ANY FLAMES, THEN THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER INSPECTED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS LATER CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 68K MILES 2005 CHEVY IMPALA. THE CAR WAS PARKED AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE 8 HRS. MY WORK HOURS ENDED AND I STARTED THE CAR TO PROCEED HOME. THE CAR HAS AN AUTOMATIC SWITCH THAT MOVES THE HEADLIGHTS FROM DAYTIME MODE TO NIGHTTIME. LOCAL MECHANIC CALLED THE GM DEALER AND SPOKE WITH A GM MECHANIC. THE GM MECHANIC TOLD HIM THE TURNSTALK ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THEY FREQUENTLY REPLACED THEM ON IMPALAS. I PAID FOR BOTH REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. THEN, THE HEATER WOULD ONLY WORK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE; HEATER BLEND DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE WAS DEFECTIVE. RECENTLY, I HAD THE HEATER BLEND DOOR REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE. THEN, I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AT MY EXPENSE. GM WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH ANY OF THESE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH SERVICE BULLETINS EXISTED ON ALL OF THESE ISSUES. LOOKING AT ONLINE DISCUSSION BOARDS FOR THIS CAR I FOUND ALL OF THESE ISSUES WITH NUMEROUS OWNERS. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP WHEN GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR AND THEN BEGAN BUMPING IN OTHER OWNERS. WHAT A LEMON THIS CAR HAS BECOME. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE BATTERY, STARTER, ALTERNATOR, ETC. WERE RULED OUT AS POSSIBLE CAUSES. THE CONSUMER HAD TO INCUR THE COST OF A FAULTY IGNITION. SPEEDOMETER WASN'T REGISTERING ANY SPEED AT ALL WHEN CAR WAS MOVIN APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. NEXT DAY, SPEEDOMETER WAS READING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH FASTER THAN PROBABLY TRAVELING (90-100MPH) ON CITY STREETS. DEALER ESTIMATES ABOUT $275 FOR PARTS, AND $190 FOR LABOR TO FIX INSTRUMENTATION PANEL. *TR
SPEEDOMETER WAS FIRST OFF BY 5 MILES THEN WORKED, FEW MONTHS LATER YOU WOULD BE DRIVING 30 AND IT WOULD SAY 60 THEN IT WOULD WORK FINE AT RANDOM LAST TIME IT ACTUALLY SPUN AROUND AND THE POINTER WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE GEAR INFORMATION. AFTER THAT THE HEAT GAGE WOULD READ AT MAX TEMP BUT THE TEMPERATURE WAS FINE AND THEN IT TO STOPPED WORKING. REPLACED THE CLUSTER FOR AROUND $350. *TR
