I WAS DRIVING HOME ONE NIGHT AND MY CAR SAID I WAS DOING 120 MPH. WHEN I WAS AT A COMPLETE IT STILL READ 75 MPH. WE REPLACED THE SPEED SENSOR TWICE THINKING THIS MAY BE THE PROBLEM, BUT IT WAS NOT. I CAN GET IT BACK TO 0 BY TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF UNTIL IT HITS 0. THIS KEPT DOING THIS SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY STATED IT WAS A CLUSTER IN THE DASH GOING OUT. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN WHO ARE IN THIS CAR WITH ME ALOT AND DO ALOT OF NIGHT TIME DRIVING AND WHEN THIS GOES OUT IS NOT THE BEST FEELING OF SAFETY. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY IMPALA. *TR
STEERING KNUCKLE IS GOING OUT HAS BEEN POPPING EVER SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WOULD DISPLAY IMPROPER READINGS. THE FAILURE WAS FREQUENT, RECURRING MORE THAN THREE TIMES A WEEK. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 156,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 156,000.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED WITH 59,000 MILES. DROVE IT HOME, PARKED IT FOR 2 DAYS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. RETURNED TO DEALER WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY AND INDICATED THE DRAIN WHILE OFF WAS WITH SPECS. TOOK CAR HOME AND WORKED WELL FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS. ON THE FOURTH DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD READ INACCURATELY, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT ANY TIME, AND SMOKE COULD BE SEEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL PUMP FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR IN FEBRUARY 2011. CAR HAS OPERATED FINE AND OPERATED FINE EARLIER TODAY. THIS EVENING, AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A QUICK RUN TO THE STORE, I STARTED MY CAR, PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PROCEEDED TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER FROM PARK TO REVERSE. I COULD NOT GET THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER TO MOVE OUT OF PARK. IT WAS STUCK. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INDICATION TO THIS ISSUE. NOW I'M STRANDED AT HOME WITH NO VEHICLE. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL FAILS OFF AND ON FOR AWHILE AND THEN COMPLETELY QUITS, CAUSING YOU NOT TO KNOW YOUR SPEED OR THE HEALTH OF YOUR VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN ONLINE WAY TOO MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM FOR THERE NOT TO BE A RECALL. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL NEEDS REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS DEFECTIVE, NONE OF THE GAUGES WERE DISPLAYING THE CORRECT READINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. 2005 CHEVY IMPALA WITH A STICKING SPEEDOMETER. STAYS AT 85 WHEN PARKED, AND IS VERY ERRATIC. HAVE READ MANY, MANY OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM AND DEALERSHIPS UNWILLING TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE WITHOUT FULLY CHARGING FOR REPAIR. CANNOT AFFORD CAR PAYMENT AND OVER EXPENSE FOR SHOP REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY DEALERSHIP/MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BEFORE THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO DETERMINE IF THEY COULD ASSIST WITH REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SPORADICALLY CHANGES TO 100MPH+ WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED. SAFETY ISSUE. GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE GAVE A BIG RUN-AROUND. I HAD THEM AND A DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER ON THE PHONE TOGETHER. GM CUST. ASST. SAID THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE THEY WOULD SAY IF THEY WOULD COVER REPAIRS. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THERE ARE ONLY TWO POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. CUST ASST STILL WOULD NOT SAY IF THEY WOULD REPAIR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I GUESS SOMEONE WILL HAVE TO PLOW THROUGH SOME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS SINCE I DON'T KNOW HOW FAST THEY ARE GOING IN A SCHOOL ZONE BEFORE THEY ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND JERKS INTERMITTENTLY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WOULD NOT REGISTER AN ACCURATE READING WHICH CAUSED DIFFICULTY IN DETERMINING WHAT SPEED HE WAS DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE LOW FUEL LEVEL ALARM FAILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000. UPDATED 08/01/11*LJ UPDATED 08/02/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS PROVIDING AN INACCURATE READING OF 90 MPH. WITHIN SECONDS, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 0 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
"SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE EVEN IN PERFECT DRIVING CONDITIONS. WHEN THIS WARNING LIGHT APPEARS, THE BRAKES RESPOND BY BECOMING "SPONGY" OR "LESS REACTIVE" LIMITING THE DRIVER'S ABILITY TO BRAKE SAFELY. CAR WAS INSPECTED BY TWO DIFFERENT AUTO REPAIR TECHNICIANS AND THEY WERE ABLE TO RULE OUT TIRE/HUB/BRAKE ISSUES BUT WERE UNABLE TO PINPOINT A CAUSE FOR THE WARNING LIGHT TO APPEAR AND CAUSE THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED ABOVE. THEY SAID THEY RESET THE CAR'S COMPUTER AND THIS RESOLVED THE ISSUE FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS, THEN THE ISSUE RECURRED. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON MY 2005 CHEVY IMPALA JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE GAS, SPEEDOMETER, RPM GAUGES ARE ALL MISS READING. WHEN IM PARKED THE RPM IS REDLINED, THE SPEEDOMETER READS 90 MPH , AND THE GAS GAUGE READS STRAIGHT NORTH ABOVE THE FULL LINE. I'M STUCK NOT KNOWING EXACTLY HOW FAST IM GOING. THE SPEEDOMETER SEEMS TO GO BACK AND FORTH TO READING CORRECTLY AT TIMES READING ALL THE WAY SOUTH BUT NEVER MAKING IT COMPLETELY AROUND. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE, SPEEDOMETER STOPPED AT 55MPH EVEN WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND BEGIN DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER WAS GOING UP TO 105 MPH. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS GOING. *TR
THERE ARE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE PASSLOCK SECURITY SYSTEM LEAVING A MOTORIST STRANDED AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THE FAILURE HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK LEAVING THE DRIVER STRANDED AT WHATEVER LOCATION HE/SHE CUTS THE CAR OFF. SOMETIMES IT WILL BE 5MIN BEFORE THE ALARM WILL RESET AND SOMETIMES IT WILL BE DAYS LEAVING THE MOTORIST WITHOUT A VEHICLE. NOTHING DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IN THIS INSTANCE THE ALARM WON'T RESET SO THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE I WAS GIVEN BY A GM DEALERSHIP IS TO HAVE THE SYSTEM DISCONNECTED. *TR
THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM HAS QUIT WORKING FOR THE 3RD TIME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR WINTER DRIVING. 1ST TWO OCCURENCES HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY, 70,000 MILES LATER IT HAS HAPPEND AGAIN. IN ALL 3 OCCURENCES IT HAS HAPPENED IN BAD WEATHER: RAINY FOR THE 1ST TWO AND SNOW FOR THE THIRD. *TR

I WAS DRIVING EARLY MORNING IT THE DARK AND MY HEADLIGHTS QUIT WORKING ON MY 2005 CHEVY IMPALA. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED YET. *TR
ALL THREE OF THE GAUGES IN MY 05 IMPALA HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE CAR, THE TEMP OF THE ENGINE, AND AT TIMES THE SPEED OF THE CAR. MY RESEARCH SUGGESTS A FAULTY STEPPER MOTOR USED BY GM. WHILE I CAN LIVE WITH THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE MALFUNCTION, THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONING PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN IT ACTS UP THE GAUGE WILL INDICATE A SPEED THAT IS OBVIOUSLY ERRANT, LEAVING ME GUESSING AS TO MY ACTUAL SPEED. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER GAUGE DOESN'T WORK IT WILL GET STUCK ON 20 MPH CONSTANTLY IT NEVER READS THE CORRECT SPEED BUT MY OTHER GAUGES WORK FINE. MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS/SLIPS HARDER THAN IT SHOULD FROM 1ST INTO 2ED AND 2ND INTO 3RD. MY HEADLIGHTS FLICKER WHEN I PUSH ON MY WINDOW CONTROLS TO ROLL MY WINDOWS UP OR DOWN. THE HEAT ONLY BLOWS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR INCLUDING ON THE DEFROST FOR THE FRONT WINDOWS AND THE REAR WINDOW. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,456.
2005 CHEVY IMPALA TIRE BLEW DUE TO BOWED REAR TIE ROD. *TR
3.4LTR 6CYL BASE MODEL HAS HAD MULTIPLE DEFECTIVE SENSATIONS FOR SOME TIME NOW; AMONG THOSE ARE STEERING, TRANSMISSION SHIFTING FROM A STANDING STOP, BRAKING AND ODD NOISES. THIS VEHICLE'S 5 Y/O WITH ONLY 20K MI, OWNED BY ELDERS & USED LOCALLY, I'VE BEEN DRIVING THEM, & NOW I HAVE THIS CAR. THE LEFT OUTTER TIE ROD END HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH LESS THAN 20K MI. THE STEERING STILL HAS AN UNSTABLE FEEL WHEN TURNING AND MAKE A METAL TO METAL CLINKING NOISE FROM A DEFECTIVE (& AS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC & NHTSA REPORTS, REPEATEDLY REPORTED) INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. THERE SHOULD BE A TOTAL RECALL BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECTIVE GM ENGINEERING PROBLEM. THERE IS ALSO A CLINKING NOISE OCCASIONALLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STANDING STOP; CAN NOT TELL IF THIS DEFECT IS FROM THE STEERING OR SOMETHING ELSE LIKE THE ENGINE MOUNTS. HAVE NOT YET DISCOVERED THIS SOURCE. FROM A STANDING STOP, THE TRANSMISSION WILL OCCASIONALLY SHIFT ABRUPTLY, EITHER FROM A NEUTRAL DISPOSITION INTO 1ST GEAR OR FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR; THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD & THE OCCUPANTS HEADS ARE WHIPPED BACK. THIS IS SIMILAR TO OTHER REPORTS OF DEFECTIVE POWER TRAIN FUNCTIONALITY I'VE READ ABOUT WITH THIS MODEL. BRAKING, WHEN JUST STARTING A TRIP, HAS AN IMPROPER FEEL AND SOMETIMES SOUNDS LIKE IT'S GRINDING, AS IF THE BRAKE PADS OR ROTORS ARE CRACKED/WORN; THIS IS A SENSATION I'VE HAD WITH VEHICLES HAVING 100,000 MILES, NOT ON A CAR LIKE THIS WITH ONLY 20K MILES. THE CENTER ARM REST'S PAD SUPPORT IS FLIMSY/CHEAP PLASTIC & HAS BROKEN SIMPLY UPON ENTERING & SHIFTING IN THE SEAT. I NOW SEE WHY SO MANY POLICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE DISCONTINUED THE IMPALA'S IN FAVOR OF THE CHARGER'S, CROWN VIC'S, TAURUS'S AND ESCAPES. MY SPEEDOMETER WENT OUT ON MY 2005 CHEVY IMPALA. IT HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. I JUST HAD THE INSPECTION DONE AND HAD TO HAVE A NEW CLUSTER PUT IN. MY TOTAL COST WAS $500. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR COMPLAINTS, I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE ALOT OF THEM REGARDING THE CLUSTER TO STOP WORKING IN THE 2005 IMPALA. FOR BEING ONLY 6 YEARS OLD, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE . THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,301.

I AM TRYING TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT A KNOWN DEFECT WITH ALL YEARS OF CHEVY IMPALAS TRANSMISSION'S FAULTY FIRST GEAR OR PRESSURE CONTROL SOLINOID ISSUES. FOR THE LAST YEAR I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH MY CAR FAILING TO ADEQUATELY SHIFT FROM STARTING OFF TO THE 30 MILE PER HOUR MARK...YOU COULD FEEL MY CAR JERK WHEN IT FINALLY SHIFTS. SO I DID WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD HELP AND HAD A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND FILTER CHANGE WHICH ONLY SOLVED THIS ISSUE FOR NOT EVEN A WEEK. I WENT ONTO GM'S WEBSITE AND WAS READING THE FORUMS SPECIFICALLY FOR CHEVY IMPALA TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND THERE WAS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO OFFER FROM GM TO EVEN LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. MY CAR STARTED TO NOTICEABLY HAVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE EVEN HAVING 100K MILES ON IT AND RIGHT NOW I HAVE 131K MILES. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE WITH MY CAR SINCE I TOOK OWNERSHIP IN 2006. I POSTED MY SAID ISSUE ON FACEBOOK AND ONE OF MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATES COMMENTED THAT HE WORKS AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP (HAS FOR 13 YEARS) AND ONLY KNOWS OF THE PRESSURE CONTROL SOLINOID ISSUE, SO APPARENTLY GM JUST DOESN'T WANT TO DO THEIR CUSTOMERS RIGHT BY FIXING EVEN THE KNOWN DEFECT OR FOLLOWUP WITH THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS STATED ON THEIR FORUM. I JUST PAID OFF MY CAR AND I FEEL THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY SUCH A LARGE SUM OF MONEY TO FIX A DEFECT ON THEIR PART. I ALSO ASKED A FRIEND OF MINE, THAT OWNS A CHEVY IMPALA, AND THEY TOO HAVE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUS AS I. PLEASE ASSIST US CONSUMERS IN PROBING INTO FORESAID ISSUES. THANKS! *TR
2005 CHEVY IMPALA: ROUGH SHIFTING, LOST SOME HP, SPEEDOMETER ISN'T WORKING, ENGINE LEAKING OIL. *TR
THIS IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY: OUR CAR'S SPEED ODOMETER STARTED ACTING UP--REGISTERING HIGH SPEEDS WHEN HARDLY MOVING AND NO SPEED WHEN ON THE INTERSTATE- IN NOVEMBER, 2010. I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER IN THE OWNERS MANUAL AND AFTER EXCHANGING PHONE CALLS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS THE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD FURNISH A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR OUR CAR FREE AS LONG AS WE PAID THE LABOR TO HAVE IT INSTALLED AT A LOCAL DEALER. I HAD TO TAKE CAR TO DEALER SO THEY COULD GET CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NUMBER SO THEY COULD SEND CORRECT ONE. DEALER CONTACTED US WHEN CLUSTER WAS THERE AND WE TOOK CAR IN. AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT WE HAD A CARD FROM EITHER THE DEALER OR GM FOR A ONE TIME 10% DISCOUNT. WE WERE ABLE TO USE THIS AND HAD CLUSTER REPLACED FOR $135.00 TOTAL LABOR AND NO COST FOR PARTS. WELL WORTH A FEW PHONE CALLS TO GM/CHEVROLET. *TR
1. MY FUEL GAUGE QUIT WORKING AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. ALL THE OTHER GAUGES KEPT WORKING. THE NEEDLE WAS POINTING DOWN AND WOULD MOVE AT THE BOTTOM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON AND OFF. I SPENT 400.00 TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WHICH APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM AS LISTED ON THE COMPLAINTS SECTION. 2. I PURCHASED A 2005 CHEV IMPALA 01/2006 WITH15,00 MILES ON IT. I STARTED TO NOTICE A BIT OF A HARD SHIFTING ON TAKE OFF, ONLY AFTER DRIVING IT IN THE CITY AFTER ABOUT THE 2ND YEAR OF DRIVING. THE PROBLEM NEVER LEFT, IN FACT IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE YEARS THAT WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR IS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND ONLY SEEMS TO DO IT IF YOU DID A A LOT OF START AND STOPPING AND YOU COULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR 10 MIN. OR SO THEN IT WON'T DO IT AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WOULD GO FOR SEVERAL DAYS OR WEEKS BEFORE IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN OR WILL DO IT SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. WHEN I HAD THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED I HAD THEM CHECK FOR CODES AND FOUND A P1811.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRING TO THE HEATER SYSTEM THAT SUPPLIED POWER TO THE BLOWER MOTOR MELTED AND CAUGHT FIRE INSIDE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE HEATER SYSTEM FAILED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE WIRING WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,284.
SPEEDOMETER IS MISS-READING, AT 65MPH I AM READING 140MPH, IT WILL NOT RESET BACK TO ZERO. NOW IT HAS WENT A COMPLETE CIRCLE AND IS READING 3MPH AT 65MPH GM WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST OR SLOW I'M GOING IN A CITY IN A SCHOOL ZONE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA. S10 APPROPRIATE HANDLING- LETTER FROM REGARDING PROBLEMS WITH THE GM DEALERSHIP *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SOMETIMES SHIFT TOO SLOW OR TOO FAST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CONSUMER THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AAMCO TRANSMISSION AND THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM WITHIN MINUTES. GM INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THEY WOULD ONLY GIVE HIM $1000.00 TOWARD REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE STEERING KNUCKLE WAS REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,517.

THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS STOPPED WORKING AND NOW THE NEEDLE POINTS STRAIGHT DOWN. THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO JUDGE MY SPEED WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AND OTHER MOTORISTS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS SITUATION THERE SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN A PART CALLED A CLUSTER WHICH IS A DEALER ITEM AND IS VERY COSTLY TO REPAIR, THEREFORE MY CAR HAS YET TO BE REPAIRED. THIS BAD CLUSTER HAS ALSO CAUSED OTHER SYSTEM PROBLEMS, GAUGES, HEATER, AND TRACTION CONTROL PROBLEMS BECAUSE APPARENTLY THIS PART CONTROLS A LOT OF DIFFERENT SYSTEMS. SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE GM RECALL THIS CLUSTER AND DO THE RIGHT THING BY REPLACING THESE PARTS AND REPAIRING THESE DANGEROUS CARS. *TR
AFTER THE IGNITION IS SHUT OFF WITH EITHER THE KEY IN OR OUT OF IGNITION, WHEN ANY DOOR IS OPEN THE RADIO IS SUPPOSED TO TURN OFF. PERIODICALLY THE RADIO WILL STAY OF EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS OPENED. MOST TIMES, THE RADIO WILL GO OFF IF THE DOOR IS OPENED BACK UP, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN SOME TIMES THAT THE RADIO NEVER SHUTS OFF. THE SENSOR IS COMBINED INTO THE LOCK ASSEMBLY. I HAVE BEEN CHECKING FORUMS FOR ANY CHEVY, GMC, SATURN, OR OTHER GM MODELS AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE A SATURN OUTLOOK THAT IS DOING THE SAME THING.
