2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE REAR DEFOGGER DOES NOT WORK. NOTHING HAPPENED, IT JUST QUIT WORKING. WHEN YOU PUSH THE REAR DEFOGGER BUTTON ON THE FRONT PANEL, THE LIGHT LIGHTS UP SHOWING IT IS WORKING, BUT IT ISN'T WORKING ON THE REAR WINDOW. IT IS HAZARDOUS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW WITH FROST AND EVEN SNOW BUILT UP ON IT. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVY IMPALA SS WAS RECALLED FOR A POWER STEERING OIL LINE LEAK. WHEN IT WAS ON THE LIFT, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE OIL LINE ON THE TRANSMISSION ALSO LEAKED. THE LINE LEAKED WHERE THE RUBBER LINE WAS CRIMPED ONTO A METAL LINE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD REPLACED SEVERAL OF THESE. IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. SINCE THERE WAS NO OIL DRIPPING ONTO MY CONCRETE DRIVEWAY, I ASSUME THAT IT LEAKS UNDER PRESSURE. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA HAS NOTHING BUT ISSUES. WINDOW SCRATCH WHEN GOING UP AND DOWN, TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR NEEDS REPLACED, REMOTE START HAS NO DISTANCE, WATER PUMP LEAKAGE, TRANSMISSION LINE LEAKING, ROTORS, TIRES AND ALIGNMENT WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. *TR
MY POWER STEERING WAS ACTING CRAZY AND MAKING CLICKING AND OTHER WEIRD SOUNDS. AFTER BEING NOTIFIED OF A RECALL, I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAD TO PERFORM THE RECALL, WHICH THEY HAVE IT LISTED AS A POWER STEERING FLUSH ON MY GM OWNER CENTER FILE. IT HAS NOW RETURNED BACK TO CLICKING AND WEIRD SOUNDS WHEN I DRIVE AND TURN. I'M SCARED THAT MAYBE GM IS OVERLOOKING MY IMPALA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVEROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BOTH POWER STEERING AND ENGINE FAILURES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN REGARDS TO THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE POWER STEERING RECALL BY REPLACING THE HOSE AND THE CLAMPS ON FEBRUARY 24, 2010. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED BECAUSE THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 78,591.

IT HAS JUST 30,000 MILES ON IT AND IT STARTED AT 28,000 MILES. AT START UP IT WINES BAD AND YOU CAN FEEL IT TUG AND STICK IN THE STEERING AS YOU DRIVE AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT DOES GET HARDER AT TIMES AT COLD TEMPS BUT AS IT WARMS IT FREES UP. AT TIMES IT DOES NOT WANT TO TURN IM A BIG GUY BUT MY WIFE DOES NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT. WE HAVE A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR SHE DRIVES MUST OF THE TIME. I HOPE IT DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME PUMP... REF:(GENERAL MOTORS CO. IS RECALLING 1.3 MILLION CARS TO FIX POWER STEERING MOTORS THAT CAN FAIL. THE RECALL AFFECTS 2005 TO 2010 CHEVROLET COBALTS, 2007 TO 2010 PONTIAC G5S, 2005 AND 2006 PONTIAC PURSUITS SOLD IN CANADA AND 2005 AND 2006 PONTIAC G4S SOLD IN MEXICO. THE AUTOMAKER SAID MONDAY THE VEHICLES ARE STILL SAFE TO DRIVE AND NEVER LOSE THEIR STEERING, BUT IT MAY BE HARDER TO STEER THEM WHEN TRAVELING UNDER 15 MPH.) TRANSMISSION FAILURE CLUTCHES WORN SLIPPING, HAD TO HAVE WHOLE TRANNY REBUILT, TOOK IT TO CHEVY DEALER 8 MONTHS AGO AFTER IT WAS SLIPPING AND BANGING INTO GEAR AND WHINING NOISE (WHICH WAS THE BEARING IN THE TRANSMISSION BEING WORN, CHEVY DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG SENT ME HOME.. 8MONTHS LATER AND $2,600 LATER HAD TO HAVE IT REBUILT BY PRIVATE TRANSMISSION SHOP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ENTERING STATE HIGHWAY WITH 65 MPH SPEED LIMIT THE POWER STEERING LINE RUPTURED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. *JB
REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER-- WHEN WE HAD A RECENT SNOW STORM (ONE OF MANY), I USED MY REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER (DEFROSTER) ONLY TO FIND OUT IT WASN'T CLEARING THE WINDOW OF FOG OR MELTING THE BLOWING SNOW. THIS PREVENTED ME FROM SEEING THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME EXCEPT FROM MY SIDE MIRRORS. THE LAMP ON THE CONTROL LIGHTS NORMALLY, BUT THERE IS NO VOLTAGE GOING TO THE REAR DEFOGGER GRID CONNECTORS (ON EACH SIDE OF WINDOW). THERE IS NO SEPARATE FUSE GOING TO THIS DEVICE, ONLY A RELAY IN THE FORWARD FUSE BOX. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A BURNT PIN ON THE LARGE CONNECTOR BLOCK UNDER THE KICK PANEL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AS A NEW CONNECTOR (BOTH HALVES) WOULD BOOST THE COST FROM $261 TO $411, AT THE DEALERS SUGGESTION, I HAD THEM JUMPER THE WIRE FROM EACH SIDE OF THE CONNECTOR INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE CONNECTOR. (AS THIS CONNECTOR IS THERE FOR ASSEMBLY PURPOSES ONLY, WHY NOT JUMPER IT.) I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO EITHER A POOR CONNECTION OF THE PINS DURING MANUFACTURING (HIGH RESISTIVE CONNECTION) OR IMPROPER SIZED PINS THAT ARE NOT HEAVY ENOUGH TO CARRY THE CURRENT. AS THIS CONNECTOR IS NOT NORMALLY ACCESSIBLE TO THE OWNER/OPERATOR AND DOES NOT MOVE, IT IS NOT A "WEAR ITEM" AND THUS WAS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. MY SERVICE WRITER TELLS ME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST ONE OTHER IMPALA THAT HE HAS SEEN IN HIS GM SHOP. WHY ISN'T THIS POWER GRID FUSED AS IT USED TO BE IN EARLIER IMPALA'S? IS THE PIN THE PROPER SIZE FOR THE CURRENT GOING THROUGH THE PIN? THIS NEEDS TO BE CHECKED OUT BEFORE IT CAUSES A FIRE IN A CAR. I HAVE A PHOTO AVAILABLE OF THIS CONNECTOR IF NEEDED. THE OLD CONNECTOR AND PINS ARE STILL IN MY CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA PURCHASED NEW IN 2006. SHE STATED SHE WOULD HEAR A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE STEERING WHEEL UPON TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY FOUND THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT KNUCKLE WAS FAILING AND WOULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK. THERE WERE NO RECALLS. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 13,571. UPDATED 03/04/10. *LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE WHEN TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED, MAKING IT HARD FOR THE CONTACT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE GEAR SHIFTER WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT YET BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
2006 IMPALA 3.5 ,NOISE AND VIBRATIONS FROM TRANSAXLE AND OR CV JOINTS,THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS AND THE NOISE GETS LOUDER WHEN TURNING LEFT, I HAVE'NT DONE ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, AN UNUSUAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS 09E005000 (STEERING). MOST RECENTLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE STEERING GEAR WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,580 . UPDATED 12-05-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED IN 2009, THE HIGH PRESSURE STEERING HOSE WAS REPLACED.
MY 2006 CHEVY IMPALA WILL NOT TURN ON. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND STARTER WITH THE SAME RESULTS. STARTER RELAY IS ALSO GOOD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB AND TO MY HORROR, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, WITH VERY HIGH DOLLAR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS THAT MAY NOT WORK. EVERY TIME I BRING IN THIS VEHICLE I AM CHARGED 100 DOLLARS FOR THEM TO SAY WHAT IS WRONG AND WHEN THEY (SUPPOSEDLY) FIX IT ( OR SAY IT DID NOT DO IT WITH THEM AND ITS ALL IN MY HEAD AND YOUR DOING SOMETHING WRONG TO IT), IT DOES IT AGAIN. THE CHARGING SYSTEM IS OK BUT THERE IS NO POWER AT ALL THRUOUT THE CAR BUT IF YOU WAIT A COUPLE OF HOURS IT WILL SHOW LIGHTS BUT IT WILL NOT EVEN CRANK AND THEN GO COMPLETELY DEAD. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED FROM EVERY OTHER CUSTOMER WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND COST THEM PLENTY OF MONEY WITHOUT A SOLUTION. I HAVE RESEARCHED YOUTUBE, YAHOO ANSWERS, FIXIT, ETC... AND THIS IS WHAT ALL THESE OTHER NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING EVEN WHEN THEY WENT TO THE CHEVY CERTIFIED MECHANICS THROUOUT THE COUNTRY. I DO NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES TO KEEP PAYING FOR DIAGNOSIS AND NUMEROUS POSSIBLE FIXES THAT DOES NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVY DEALER FOR THEM TO CHARGE ME AN ARM AND A LEG TO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM ( AND NO THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU A REFUND FOR NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM THAT THEY CHARGE A 100 DOLLARS UPFRONT TO DIAGNOSE). THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM, THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO GEAR ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU COME FROM A START OR AFTER YOU BACK UP AND DRIVE FORWARD. THIS IS NOT NORMAL BUT CHEVY WILL SAY IT US. I TAKE PRIDE IN KEEPING MY CAR RUNNING SO I KNOW IT IS NOT FROM NEGLECT OR ABUSE THIS IS SIMPLY AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THESE CHEVY VEHICLES HAVE BECAUSE I M SEEING THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON THEIR OTHER MODELS THROUGHOUT MULTIPLE YEAR SPECTRUM. I HAVE BEEN HEARING A CLUNKING NOISE WITH MY 2006 IMPALA AROUND 21,000 MILES. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM THAT NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. AT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE WAS FOUR YEARS OLD AND NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I DONE SOME FURTHER RESEARCH AND SPOKE TO A FEW OTHER IMPALA OWNERS AND THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE, AND HAD THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT REPLACED. I BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER CHEVY DEALER AND SELF DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND THEY AGREED WITH ME. I HAD IT CHANGED WITH 28,000 MILES ON IT. I CONTACTED CHEVY AND ASKED HOW THIS PART CAN FAIL WITH SO FEW MILES. THEY BLAME IT ON WEAR AND TEAR AND DIDN'T WANT TO GIVE ME ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH MANY IMPALA AND LUMINA LINES FOR YEARS, AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. *TR

WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INCLUDING 35 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND TIRE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD, MOMENTS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ACCELERATOR PANEL ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 74799.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. HE DISCOVERED RECALL # 09E005000 (STEERING) FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND INSPECTED FOR ONE FULL DAY. AFTER THE DAY OF SERVICE HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO HIS VEHICLE. ONE WEEK AFTER THE INSPECTION. WHILE DRIVING HE LOST POWER STEERING WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A SNOW EMBANKMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY IMPALA AND THE STEERING IS TERRIBLE. IT CLUNKS AND WHEN I PUT ON THE BRAKE IT GOES TO THE LEFT, HAVING NO CONTROL. PLEASE IS THIS COVERED IN A RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS RAINING HARD AND MY VISION WAS TOTALLY OBSCURED. I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE RAIN ABATED TO CONTINUE ON MY JOURNEY. I CONTACTED A GM SERVICE CENTER AND WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD NEED TO BUY A NEW MOTOR ALTHOUGH THE CURRENT MOTOR WORKS JUST FINE HOWEVER THE RUBBER AROUND THE ARM THAT ATTACHES TO THE MOTOR IS CRACKED. THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR IN A CAR THAT IS NOT THAT OLD. *TR
STEERING: I STARTED HEARING A NOISE - LIKE A CLUNKING IN, AT THE SAME TIME I WOULD FEEL IT IN MY STEERING WHEEL...WHEN I WOULD TURN LEFT OR RIGHT, IT WOULD CLUNK AND KIND OF SHAKE OR VIBRATE....IT GOT WORSE AND WORSE AND EVERY TIME I WOULD TURN THE CAR TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT, IT WOULD CLUNK LOUDER AND COULD HEAR IT AND FEEL IT. I WENT TO THE LOCAL AUTO REPAIR, AND THEY FOUND THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT....THIS PART COST $120.00 PLUS THE LABOR TO INSTALL. *TR
I OWNED A 2006 IMPALA WITH 100,000 MILES ON IT. ON 11-11-2009 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 45 MILES AN HOUR AND CROSS 3 LANES IN HEAVY TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE. AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND STARTED SMOKING. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. WITHIN 3 MINUTES THE WHOLE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. CAR IS COMPLETELY TOTALED AND I OWE MORE ON IT THAN IT IS WORTH. LUCKILY I HAVE GAP INSURANCE BUT FINDING A NEW CAR WITHOUT A SIZEABLE DEPOSIT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. THIS WAS AN ERROR THAT GM SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT AND I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS. CAR FIRES JUST DON'T HAPPEN OUT OF NOWHERE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. *TR
2006 IMPALA - DURING THE WINTER OF 2009 I HAD TO REV THE ENGINE FOR IT TO PUT OUT HEAT. DURING THE WINTER OF 2009 CAR OVERHEATS UNEXPECTEDLY AND NOW DURING THE SPRING 2010, CAR CONTINUES TO OVERHEAT UNEXPECTEDLY. TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHEN THE OVERHEATING FIRST STARTED. THE REPLACES ANTIFREEZE AND HOSES. IT HELPED FOR A WHILE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND THE STEERING SHAFT WAS FAULTY AND EITHER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REPACKED. NO REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE TO DATE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 33,000.
I PURCHASED MY 2006 IMPALA SS BRAND NEW IN 2006. I'VE BEEN A LOYAL GM CUSTOMER MY WHOLE LIFE. AT 99,000 STARTED EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION ISSUES, SLIPPING,AND HARD SHIFTING... AT 101,000 MILES I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. I REFINANCED MY CAR TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION FOR $2,200 . AFTER THE REBUILD TRANSMISSION WAS WORKING OK. THEN AT 122,000 MILES IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN... IT WAS SNOWING AND I WAS STRANDED IN THE TURN LANE OF A ROAD WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 55MPH... I TURNED OFF MY CAR LET THE ENGINE COOL DOWN AND BACK ON AT LEAST 20 TIMES... MY CAR MOVED ABOUT 200 FEET EACH TIME... AN HOUR LATER I GOT BACK TO MY HOUSE THAT WAS 5MILES FROM THE FAILURE. I CANT AFFORD TO FIX IT NOW AND I AM STILL PAYING FOR THE CAR. ITS BEEN SITTING IN MY YARD FOR 10 MONTHS. THIS ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. I ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL FOR MY POWER STEERING HOSE, GOT IT FIXED AND THE BRACKETS CAME LOOSE FROM MY FRAME CAUSING MY STEERING TO GET VERY HARD. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED MY POWER STEERING FLUID AT WALMART AND IT WAS EMPTY. I FILLED IT AND EVERYTHING WAS WORKING. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD NO POWER STEERING AGAIN... MY HOSE HAD RUBBED ON MY FRAME MAKING A HOLE. I WENT TO THE STORE AND BOUGHT MORE POWER STEERING FLUID BUT AFTER I PUT IT IN MY STEERING WAS MAKING A LOUD SOUND AND DIDN'T TURN WELL. I THINK IT WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE LEAK. I TOO HAVE A LOUD CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM MY DASHBOARD WHEN I TURN ON MY CAR. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS THE VENT FLAP MOTOR ... $750 DOLLARS TO REPAIR... PART IS ONLY $65 THE REST IS LABOR... ALSO WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY CAR I HAD TO GET ALL 4DOOR WINDOWS REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY) DUE TO IMPROPER WINDOW GUIDE ADJUSTMENT. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY IMPALA AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. GM 2006 IMPALA TRANSMISSION FAILURE. UPON INITIAL OPERATION TRANSAXLE SHUDDERS, STUTTERS, AND STALLS UPON ACCELERATION DEMAND. FAILURE CREATES AN UNANTICIPATED AND WARNING-LESS SLOW-DOWN OF MY VEHICLE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF OTHER ACCELERATING VEHICLES. A SAFETY HAZARD RESULTS FROM POSSIBLE REAR-ENDING BY FOLLOWING MOTORISTS THAT HAVE TO BE UNAWARE THE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM HAS STUTTERED AND SLOWED DOWN. WHEN FRONT BRAKE ROTORS FAILED AT 26,455 MILES,CALLED DEALER THINKING IT WOULD BE COVER UNDER WARRANTY, DEALER STATED BRAKES ARE ONLY COVERED UP TO 7,500 MILES NOT THE 36,000 MILES. TOOK ROTORS TO PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THEM TURNED AND THEY WOULD NOT DO IT STATING THEY WERE MADE OUT OF JUNK AND WOULD BE BETTER OFF REPLACING WITH NEW ROTORS WHICH I DID HOPING FOR BETTER RESULTS. *TR

AN AUTHORIZED DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITHIN A YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED OR WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

SINCE THE COLLISION I RECEIVED MY MRI RESULT FINDING I ALSO HAVE TWO COMPACTED DISKS IN MY NECK AND A COMPACTED DISK IN MY LOWER BACK. I AM AN AVERAGE SIZE MAN 5'9" TALL 190 POUNDS VERY PHYSICALLY ACTIVE AND WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT AND A BULLET PROOF VEST. THE "BLACK BOX" IN THE VEHICLE SHOWED THE IMPACT WAS AT 11 MPH. ACCORDING TO MY DOCTOR THE BREAK TO MY STERNUM WOULD TAKE A MASSIVE FORCE WHICH WAS ALSO VERIFIED BY MY PULMONARY SPECIALIST.. I HAVE INVESTIGATED HUNDREDS OF MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS AS A PEACE OFFICER AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HEARD OF AN AIRBAG BREAKING SOMEONE'S STERNUM OR RIB(S). THE TRAILING ARM BUSTED IN HALF 4/09. I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 TIRES AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT (M-S P225/55R17 95T, DOT M643 BHDR 3905). I WAS ADVISED THAT ALL TIRES ON THE VEHICLE HAD A DEFECT WHICH CAUSED THE TREAD TO SEPARATE FROM THE TIRE IN THE SAME SPOT. THE TIRES STILL HAD FROM 7/32 TO 9/32 TREAD REMAINING. HAVING TAKEN OFF ONE TIRE TO INSPECT IT PROPERLY, THE DEFECT WAS FOUND TO BE SO BAD THAT THE DEALER WOULD NOT REMOUNT THE TIRE ON TO THE VEHICLE UNDER CALIFORNIA LAW. AT THE DIRECTION OF GOODYEAR, THE DEFECTIVE TIRES WERE THEN TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED BY A GOODYEAR DEALER AND THE DEFECT WAS AGAIN CONFIRMED. THE IDENTIFIED DEFECT COULD CAUSE FAILURE OF A TIRE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT ADVANCE WARNING. AS A RESULT ALL TIRES OF THIS MANUFACTURING LOT SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE TO WORK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF MAJOR MICHIGAN HIGHWAY (I-75). AS I HEADED INTO A RIGHT CURVE ON THE HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE A VERY LOUD SQUEALING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD AND MY STEERING WHEEL PULLED OUT OF MY HANDS, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL BACK STRAIGHT. IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER MY VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT, SO I PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY, I SHUT MY VEHICLE OFF. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE CLOSEST CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR AN INSPECTION. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE POWER STEERING LINE HAD BURST, CAUSING A RAPID LOSS OF POWER STEERING FLUID AND LACK OF VEHICLE CONTROL. THEY REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE LINE AT A TOTAL COST OF $438. I RELUCTANTLY PAID FOR THE REPAIRS AFTER FINDING OUT THIS DEFECT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE "GM CERTIFIED 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY". WHAT I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND IS WHY WOULD A PRODUCT THAT SERVES SUCH A VITAL SAFETY FEATURE IN A VEHICLE, NOT BE HELD TO HIGHER QUALITY STANDARDS AND BE COVERED FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. BASED ON THE RECENT NUMBER OF INCIDENTS REPORTED BY CONSUMERS FOR THIS SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL, I FEEL THIS TYPE OF DEFECT NEEDS TO RECALLED BY GM BEFORE SERIOUS INJURIES OR LIVES ARE LOST. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA WHICH REQUIRED THE FRONT BRAKES TO HAVE THE ROTORS MACHINED AND REPLACED 3 TIMES IN THE FIRST 33,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE USE OF INFERIOR METAL FOR THE ROTORS WHICH COULD NOT WITHSTAND THE HEAT GENERATED BY BRAKING, ESPECIALLY WHEN EXITING FROM A HIGHWAY. ADDITIONALLY, THE FRONT OUTER TIE RODS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT IN THE FIRST 65,000 MILES OF DRIVING BECAUSE THEY HAD BECOME WORN OUT WHICH CAUSED THE FRONT TIRES TO BE LOOSE OR "WOBBLY." *TR
