TRANSMISSION "SLIPS" THEN ENGAGES HARD. HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. HAD TRANSMISSION SERVICE JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO, FLUID HAS BEEN CLEAN AND FULL. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND STARTED TO GO BUT THE CAR WOULD BARELY PICK UP SPEED, THE ENGINE REVVED THEN AFTER ABOUT 3 SECONDS IT JERKED HARD AND RESUMED ACCELERATION. MY LOCAL DEALER AND GM THEMSELVES FLAT-OUT LIES ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR (HAS HAD ALL THE COMMON THINGS, TIRE WEAR, BAD ROTORS, MOTOR MOUNTS, WINDOW SCREECHING, STEERING NOISES, REMOTE ENTRY, YOU KNOW, TYPICAL IMPALA) SO UNLIKELY IT WILL GO TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THEY WILL LIKELY SAY IT'S DUE TO POSITION OF THE MOON AND DIRECTION OF THE WIND. JUST HOPE THIS DOES NOT CAUSE ACCIDENT BEFORE I CAN DITCH THIS CAR OR NHTSA GETS ON GM'S CASE FOR THESE DEFECT RIDDEN CARS! *TR
1. CONSTANT FISHTALING WHEN DRIVING 2. SINCE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED 3. REPAIRED BY QUALIFIED AUTO REPAIR SHOP, SINCE NO GM DEALER NEARBY.
ON DECEMBER 24, 2009, AFTER PARKING MY 30 MONTH OLD 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ ON LEVEL GROUND AT 6:30AM IN THE MORNING AND MINUS 13 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, I ATTENDED MY MORNING WORKOUT FOR 1 HOUR. ON RETURN AND AFTER SUCCESSFULLY STARTING THE CAR I FOUND THE STICK SHIFT ACCESS BUTTON COULD NOT BE PUSHED, DESPITE FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES, AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK. IT WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL GM DEALER FOR $100. AFTER SIX DAYS AND $150 IN EXPENSES FOR ANOTHER CAR THE GM DEALER REPORTED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A "BROKEN GROUND WIRE" IN THE "SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID CONNECTOR" [INSIDE THE CENTRE CONSOLE WHERE THE SHIFT LEVER IS LOCATED]. THE COST OF REPAIR WAS $137. MY INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS PROBLEM OCCURS OFTEN IN CHEVROLET IMPALAS, WHICH SUGGESTS THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM COULD BE LIFE THREATENING IF THE PROBLEM OCCURS IN A REMOTE AREA AT THIS TEMPERATURE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A POWER TRAIN PROBLEM SINCE THE PART ALLOWS THE TRANSMISSION TO ENGAGE, AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. GM CLAIMS IT IS NOT PART OF THE POWER TRAIN. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE LIFE THREATENING, IS A DEFECT IN DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE, AND THAT THE PROBLEM IS A POWER TRAIN PROBLEM AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVY IMPALA. HE STATED THAT WHEN SNOW AND ICE ARE ON THE ROAD THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SLIDE "VERY DANGEROUSLY". WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 30 MPH, THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SWING OUTWARD WHENEVER HE WOULD DRIVE OVER A SHEET OF ICE, SNOW OR DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED AND ROTATED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNDER 104,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THE RIGHT FRONT KNUCKLE JOINT BROKE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE NUDGED AGAINST THE CURB CAUSING THE WHOLE FRONT WHEEL AND OTHER COMPONENTS TO DISENGAGE. THERE WERE THIRTY-THREE PARTS REPLACED DUE TO THE SEVERE DAMAGES. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. HOWEVER, THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THE COLLISION CAUSED THE DAMAGE, NOT THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE IN WHICH THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,325. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,422. UPDATED 03/19/2010. *LJUPDATED 09/14/10
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND TURNING THE STEERING COLUMN HE HEARDS A LOUD NOISE. ALSO THE COMPUTER WAS NOT READING THE TIRE PRESSURE OF THE TIRE ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
I AM NOW BUYING THE 3RD SET OF REAR TIRES IN LESS THAN A YEAR. THE INSIDE TREAD WEARS DOWN TO THE WIRES EVERY 13-16,000 MILES. THE VIN ON MY CAR FALLS WITHIN THE VIN'S LISTED ON GM TSB 8032, HOWEVER THIS CAR IS NOT A POLICE CAR. GM STATES THAT I MUST BE HITTING A POTHOLE CAUSING ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS. I MUST BE HITTING THE SAME POTHOLE AT THE SAME MILEAGE ALL 3 TIMES AND IT ONLY AFFECTS THE REAR TIRES. THERE IS EXTENSIVE ANECDOTAL REFERENCES TO THIS PROBLEM ON NUMEROUS CAR COMPLAINT WEBSITES, INCLUDING NHTSA. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT IF GM IS ALLOWED TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM. GM'S ONLY SOLUTION IS TO SELL ME ALIGNMENTS AND TIRES SINCE IT IS "MY FAULT" AND EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL TO THE ISSUE NOTED BY GM IN TSB 8032, IT CAN'T POSSIBLY BE RELATED SINCE THE OTHER IDENTICAL PROBLEM ONLY HAPPENS ON POLICE AND GOVERNMENT CARS TO WHICH GM SELLS A LOT OF CARS. THE EVERYDAY INDIVIDUAL DOES NOT HAVE THE COMPLAINING POWER OF A LARGE BULK PURCHASER. *TR
CAR IS TERRIBLE ON ICE,VERY UNSAFE UNDER ANY ADVERSE CONDITIONS. *TR
I HIT A 6 INCH CURB AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. WHEN THE CAR HIT THE CURB THE STEERING KNUCKLE BROKE CAUSING THE LEFT FRONT TIRE ASSEMBLY TO COME OFF THE CAR RENDERING ME IN NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I PERSONALLY FEEL THIS BROKE TOO EASY AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE IMPACT OF A 6 INCH CURB. IF THE KNUCKLE WOULD NOT HAVE BROKE I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STAY IN CONTROL OF THE CAR AND NOT HAVE CAUSED AS MUCH DAMAGE THAT DID OCCUR FROM THE TIRE COMING OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS SITUATION COULD PUT PEOPLE'S LIVES IN DANGER AS SUCH A SMALL IMPACT CAUSES THE WHEEL TO COME OFF TAKING CONTROL AWAY FROM THE DRIVER. *TR
INTERMEDIATE SHAFT IN STEERING SHAFT FAILED. IT CAUSED A CLUNKING OR KNOCKING FEEL AND SOUND. CHEVY DEALER SAID IT WAS A "CHRONIC PROBLEM" WITH THE IMPALA. FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE COST ABOUT $300.00. ALSO ROTORS IN FRONT WARPED PREMATURELY. ANOTHER "KNOWN PROBLEM". POWER STEERING UNIT OR SERPENTINE BELT SQUEALS. CHEVY DEALER SAID IT'S" NORMAL" ? *TR
THE HEAT ONLY BLOWS WARM AIR DURING ACCELERATION. ONCE IDLE, THE WARM AIR TURNS ICE COLD. MY CAR WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES TO BE REPAIRED AND EVERY TIME, IT WOULD WORK PROPERLY FOR A FEW DAYS THEN GO BACK TO NOT WORKING. AFTER THE 3RD "FIX" (THE "FIX" WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERY TIME), THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I JUST MUST KNOW NOT HOW TO WORK MY HEAT BECAUSE I "KEEP BREAKING IT". THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE AND EVEN THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO CORRECTLY REPAIR THE PROBLEM!! *TR
WHEN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, I FELT A "CLUNK" AND MY CAR BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, BUT I COULD CONTACT THE DEALER AND HE MIGHT BE ABLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD JUST PASSED THE WARRANTY MILEAGE BY 400 MILES. I DID CONTACT THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER AND HE STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN HAD BROKEN AT THE WELD. HE REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE.. *TR
THERE IS A REAR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE. THE REAR WHEELS ARE KICKED-OUT CAUSING INNER WEAR ON THE TIRES AFTER MINIMAL MILEAGE. I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES (BECAUSE THEY HAD BEEN ROTATED) AFTER ONLY 25K MILES. *TR
I OWN A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS. FOR SOME REASON, THERE IS A CLUNK/KNOCK IN WHEN I STEER TO THE RIGHT. AT TIMES IT HAS A TENDENCY TO LOCK UP. ALSO, THERE IS A STRONG VIBRATION THAT OCCURS WHEN I AM DOING 35 MPH OR FASTER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DRIFTED INTO THE LEFT LANE WITHOUT INTENT. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TOWARDS THE RIGHT DIRECTION IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FOUR TIRES WERE ROTATED, AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOISIS AND REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ENGINE REDUCE POWER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHENEVER THE MESSAGE ILLUMINATED, SHE WOULD HAVE TO RESPOND RAPIDLY AND MERGE OFF THE ROADWAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 134,930.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. EXCESSIVE TIRE WARE ON REAR TIRES---NOTICED THERE WAS A PROBLEM AT 22,000 MILE'S AT 27,000 MILES CAR WOULD NOT HOLD THE ROAD .IN THE DEAD OF SUMMER CAR DROVE LIKE YOU WERE ON A LAKE OF ICE( 2007 CHEVY SS IMPALA)TALKED TO DEALERS THEY SAID NOT A REPORTED PROBLEM FOUND OUT LATER THAT WAS '!@#$%. ON 9/08/09 I WENT TO A LOCAL TIRE DEALER TO REPAIR 2 SLOW LEAKS IN MY TIRES. I WAS ADVISED THE TIRES BADLY NEEDED ALIGNED. ON 9/09/09 I GOT MY ALIGNMENT. THE REPAIRMAN ADVISED ME THE TIRES WERE ALL WORN BADLY, AND I NEEDED NEW ONES BEFORE WINTER.AT THAT TIME MY MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 16,900 MILES. ON 11/02/09 I BOUGHT 4 NEW TIRES FOR A COSDT OF $425.79 OUT OF NECESSITY FOR UPCOMING WINTER DRIVING. I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY ODD THAT I NEEDED NEW TIRES ON THE IMPALA THAT I HAD PURCHASED TWO YEARS AGO, BUT I TRUST MY TIRE MAN, SO I DID NOT QUESTION WHAT HE TOLD ME I NEEDED TO DO. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST TWO YEARS AGAIN, SO NOW I AM CONCERNED ABOUT WHTHER I NEED NEW TIRES AGAIN ALREADY DUE TO THIS GM PROBLEM OF DEFECTIVE SPINDLE RODS, WHICH CONNECT THE SUSPENSION TO THE REAR WHEELS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I AM DRIVING MY VEHICLE!!! *TT
ALL 4 WHEELS ARE OUT OF ALIGNMENT CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE INSIDE OF ALL 4 TIRES. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 2 YEARS AGO AND IT HAD ONLY 14000 MILES. I BELIEVE IT WAS A RENTAL VEHICLE. I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES AND GET A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER (POOR QUALITY CONTROL). THE DEALER SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY THE BRAND OF TIRE ON THE VEHICLE WHICH IS NONSENSE. *TR
THE REAR TIRES ARE WEARING TERRIBLY ON THE INSIDE. SIGNIFICANTLY MORE SO THAN ANY OTHER PART OF THE TIRES. I HAD A REAR END ALIGNMENT DONE ON THE CAR, AND IT WAS NO HELP AT ALL. I THEN REPLACED THE TIRES AT 40,000 MILES AND THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING. AFTER RESEARCHING, I FOUND THAT MANY POLICE IMPALA'S HAVE THIS ISSUE, BUT MINE IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *TR
INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. YOU CAN FEEL & HEAR THE CLUNKING/VIBRATION IN THE STEERING. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THAT THIS WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A DEFAULT IN THE STEERING SHAFT AND ADVISED HER THAT UNLESS THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09E005000 WAS FOR AN AFTER MARKET STEERING SHAFT WHICH WAS NOT APPLICABLE TO HER VEHICLE. NO REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE TO DATE TO CORRECT THE STEERING FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 72,000.

TIRES BALD AT 33,428 MILES & REPLACED REPLACED ANOTHER TIRE 7/2011 AROUND 52,000 MILES THREE OTHERS ARE WITHIN 1 OR 2 /32 ND OF BEING WORN OUT AGAIN AT 56,056. *TR
SINCE I HAVE HAD MY IMPALA I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CA. THE FIRST PROBLEM THAT I NOTICED WAS THAT MY WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID STOP COMING OUT AFTER ON HAVING THE CAR A FEW MONTHS, I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE MOTOR HAD GONE OUT. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT IM HAVING IS THAT THE CHECK TIRE SERVICE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON EVEN AFTER, TIRES HAVE BEEN FILLED AND REPLACED, I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT ON OCCASIONS MANY OF THE OTHER SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON LIKE CHECK AIRBAGS, AND BRAKES EVEN AFTER CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED. MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS THAT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID HAS BEGUN TO LEAK OUT MY CAR AND NO ONE NOT EVEN THE DEALERSHIP CAN FIGURE OUT WHERE OR WHY ITS LEAKING. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO HESITATE AND JERK UPON ACCELERATION. READING A LOT OF THE FORUMS OUT I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THESE PROBLEMS AND I THINK THAT AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE ON THE IMPALA. *TR

IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND FLICKERED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I HAVE A 2007 CHEVY IMPALA WITH BRAKE AND TIRE ISSUES. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS 2YRS OLD WITH ABOUT 32,000 MILES ON IT. IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING IT I HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES ROTORS DUE TO WARPING FOUR TIMES AND TIRES DUE TO POUNDING THREE TIMES. AFTER FILING A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVY ON THEIR WEB SITE AND GETTING NO RESPONSE AND SEEING OTHER WEB BASED COMPLAINT SITE WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, I AM SENDING THIS TO YOU. CHEVY TELLS ME THAT THESE PROBLEMS ARE CAUSED BY HARD BRAKING WHICH ISN'T THE CASE, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE SAME WAY FOR OVER 25YRS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. AFTER SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO TRY AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM I GAVE UP AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE WAY THAT IS FOR AWHILE NOW. RECENTLY BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE POUNDING SO MUCH AND THE BRAKES SHAKING SO MUCH AT HIGHWAY SPEED, IT WAS HARD TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AGAIN WHICH STARTED PULSATING AGAIN WITHIN A THOUSAND MILES OR SO. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER IMPALA OWNER AND HAVE HEARD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND CHEVY DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE. THIS CAN BE A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND REPLACING TIRES AND BRAKE IS ONLY A TEMPORARY CURE. CHEVY SAYS THAT I SHOULD DO A "ROAD FORCE BALANCE", AT $70 PER, EVERY 3,000 MILE TO CORRECT THE TIRE POUNDING ISSUE. THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION FOR THE BRAKE ISSUE OTHER THAN TO NOT USE THE BRAKES I GUESS. *TR
REPORTED THAT CAR WOULD JERK (KICK INTO GEAR LATE) WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP TO START. AT 74,000 WE MADE OUR FIRST CLAIM WITH LOCAL DEALER. THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE CONCERN. BROUGHT CAR IN TWO MORE TIME BECAUSE IT GOT WORSE. FELT LIKE SOMEONE WAS HITTING ME FROM THE BACK. MY CAR OFTEN KICKS OUT OF GEAR ON A LEFT TURN. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I WAS ALMOST T-BONED. THEY NEVER FOUND THE ISSUE UNTIL 121,000. THAT WAS WHEN THEY DECLARED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. GM DOESN'T WANT TO COVER THE REPAIR NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OFWARRANTY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND WAY TOO MANY TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THESE MODEL VEHICLES. GM REALLY SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS CONCERN. I ADVISE ANYONE TO PESTER GM ABOUT THIS CONCERN. AT RANDOM TIMES, STARTING FROM A STOP, MY 2007 CHEVY IMPALA LTZ CAR WILL SLOWLY ENGAGE 1ST GEAR AND THEN SUDDENLY ENGAGE WITH A STRONG JERK. I HAD HEARD ABOUT A RECALL ON THE 20007- 2008 CHEVY IMPALA. IT INVOLVES THE SPINDLE RODS ON THE REAR SUSPENSION. I HAVE A 2007 IMPALA AND THE BAD SPINDLE RODS ARE EFFECTING MY REAR TIRES. I PURCHASED 4 TIRES IN 2009. AS OF TODAY, MY REAR TIRES NEED REPLACING REALLY SOON DUE TO THIS PROBLEM WITH THE SPINDLE RODS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WHERE THE DASH LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHT WILL FLICKER. ON A FEW OCCASIONS, THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY WOULD ACTUALLY GO OUT FOR A SECOND, AND AT THE SAME TIME THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD DIM TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. FRONT AND REAR ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR BROUGHT ON BY IMPROPER WHEEL ALIGNMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. AT 22000 MILES A VIBRATION COULD BE FELT AT SPEEDS ABOVE 20 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A CHECK AR A LOCAL TIRE DEALER. THE TECH CALLED ME OUT TO THE CAR WHILE IT WAS ON A LIFT. HE SHOWED ME THE TIRES, ALL FOUR WERE WORN BEYOND USE. THE INNER TWO TREAD LINES WERE COMPLETELY WORN OFF, I FELT THE TIRE IN THE WORN AREA AND IT FELT LIKE A BALLOON. THE TECH COMMENTED I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE MADE IT TO THE SHOP. HE WAS SURPRISED THE HAD NOT BLOWN UP WHILE DRIVING. LATER HE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR DID NOT HAVE ECCENTRIC BOLTS IN THE SUSPENSION AND THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE NON ADJUSTABLE BOLTS IN THE SUSPENSION ALONG WITH 4 NEW TIRES. WHILE I WAS WAITING IN THE LOBBY I DECIDED TO CHECK ON THE PROGRESS, WHEN I NOTICED AN 2008 IMPALA ON ANOTHER RACK, I LOOKED AT THE TIRES AND SAW THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD. OVER 600.00 DOLLARS I WAS ON MY WAY HOME. I CONTACTED THE CHEVY DEALER ON TO GET A GAF FROM THE SERVICE DEPT. OKAY SO I SUCK KT UP, DUMP THE CAR AND NOT BUY CHEVYS AGAIN.
