I WAS LEAVING A HIGH SCHOOL AT NIGHT AFTER BASKETBALL GAME. CRANKED CAR AND STARTED DRIVING. ALL LIGHTS WORKING FINE. IT WAS ON AUTO LIGHTS. ABOUT FIVE MINUTES UP THE ROAD ALL OUTSIDE LIGHTS QUIT WORKING. THEY JUST STOPPED. PULLED OVER AND TURNED LIGHTS ON AND OFF....STILL NOT WORKING. SWITCHED FROM AUTO TO MANUAL HEADLIGHTS. ONLY HIGH BEAM WORKED. AND THEN ONLY LEFT SIDE. LOW BEAM NOT WORKING AT ALL. IF I TRIED TO DIM LIGHTS....THEN THEY CUT OFF. *TR
BACK DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE WITH KEY FOB OR WITH INSIDE POWER LOCKS, (NO OUTSIDE KEY ENTRY LOCKS IN BACK DOORS) THEY REMAIN LOCKED AT ALL TIMES AND MY GRANDCHILD MUST CLIMB OVER FRONT SEAT TO GET IN THE BACK OF VEHICLE AND VICE A VERSA TO GET OUT. IF ACCIDENT OCCURS, FIRE STARTS BABY OR CHILD COULD NOT GET OUT!! I HAVE COMPLAINED TO CHEVY THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS MAY GO AT SOME POINT. THIS IS A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. CHEVY WANTS HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS (EACH DOOR LOCK)TO HAVE THEM FIXED. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO IN 41 YEARS OF DRIVING. I HAVE HURT MY OWN BACK TRYING TO REACH TO THE BACK SEAT FROM THE FRONT ONLY. IT STARTED WITH ONE LOCK A FEW YEARS AGO AND THEN THE SECOND ONE STARTED. PLEASE HELP!
REAR DOOR LOCKS DONT WORK WHEN TRYING TO GET CHILDREN OUT OF CAR. DOORS DON'T UNLOCK. REAR DOORS DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK OFTEN.
DRIVING THE CAR THE OTHER DAY I HEARD A CLICKING NOISE IN THE DASH AS I DROVE IT THE WINDSHIELD AND ALL THE WINDOWS FOGED UP. HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF ROAD UNTIL THE WINDOWS CLEARED UP.
ABS ABD TC WARNING LIGHT LIT WITH "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM" MESSAGE. INITIATED AT TURNING EVENTS,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD INDEPENDENTLY SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND STARTED TO JERK. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE BUT THE SHIFT LEVER FAILED TO MOVE FROM THE PARK POSITION WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT WIRING WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 210,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER MALFUNCTIONED AND DID NOT OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER CONVERTER WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AROUND 5:30PM CST ON US 59 N AND RANKIN RD TUESDAY 11/15/16 WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR STEER AND THE ONLY LIGHT THAT CAME ON IN THE CAR WAS THE SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM. I MANAGED, SOMEHOW, TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY AND PUT IT IN PARK. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I WENT START IT AGAIN, AFTER RELEASING THE KEY, IT MADE A STUTTERING TO START SOUND OVER AND OVER AGAIN EVEN THOUGH I WAS NO LONGER TOUCHING THE KEY. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN IT TURN ON AND THEN BACK OFF AND CONTINUED TO DO THIS AT LEAST 3 MORE TIMES. I EVENTUALLY HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOME AND AFTER READING ONLINE TODAY AT FORUMS.EDMONDS.COM MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH IMPALA'S AND SUBURBAN'S FROM GM FOR AT LEAST 4 YEARS NOW, FIRST POST IS BACK IN 2012. GM NEEDS TO PUT A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THE ISSUE BEFORE IT MORE FATALITIES, AS PROVEN IN THEIR EARLIER 2014-2015 RECALL. THEY JUST DID A RECALL ABOUT A YEAR AGO FOR IMPALA'S HAVING AN ISSUE WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD THEN SWITCH INTO THE OFF POSITION WHILE DRIVING IF YOU HIT A BUMP TOO HARD AND HAD TOO MUCH WEIGHT ON YOUR KEYS. I GOT MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR THAT RECALL ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THEIR FIX FOR THAT WAS INCORRECT AND NOT THE ISSUE SEEING AS MY VEHICLE, AND SEVERAL OTHERS, STILL SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND THE IGNITION IS STILL IN THE ON (NOT OFF) POSITION, YOU LOSE ACCELERATION AND STEERING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WILL CAUSE MORE DEATHS, INJURIES, AND ACCIDENTS. PLEASE GET THIS TO GM AND HAVE THEM CORRECT THIS ISSUE IN ALL THEIR MODELS WITH SENSOR THROTTLE BODY'S INSTEAD OF WIRED ONES. THEY ALSO NEED TO FIX THE ISSUE OF DOOR AND A/C ACCUATORS IN THEIR MODELS, AS ITS BEEN DESCRIBED TO ME AS A COMMON ISSUE IN GM MODELS. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE FOR ALL DRIVERS GM OR NOT. MORE ACCIDENTS WILL FOLLOW.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE SOME OTHER WORK DONE WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER CONTROL ARMS WERE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, THE AUTOMATED SYSTEM CONTINUED TO DISCONNECT HER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V377000 (SUSPENSION) DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS NOT A POLICE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, AFTER PROCEEDING THROUGH A GREEN LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, BOTH SHOULDERS, LEFT FOREARM, BRUISING AND SWELLING TO THE UPPER CHEST CAVITY AND LOWER ABDOMEN. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
MY CAR STOPPED ON 630. IT SAID DISABLED FULL THROTTLE. I HAD TO SIT FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD START. I THEN HEAR A CLICKING NOISE THAT STARTED AT 830AM AND STOPPED AT 832AM. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. DO NOT BUY ANY IMPALA, UNLESS YOU HAVE A LIFETIME OF FIXABLE RECALLS. IT'S HOT IN ARKANSAS AND TO STALL FOR 15 MINUTES WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR IS UNACCEPTABLE. WHEN YOU CALL CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY CAN NOT HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING. THEY JUST TAKE YOUR VIN NUMBER AND STATE OH I DON'T SEE A RECALL FOR YOUR VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH YOU READ 5598 PROBLEMS/SAME ISSUE YOU ARE HAVING WITH YOUR CAR. ERRATIC TRANSMISSION IS THE WHOLE PROBLEM. SO TO CHEVROLET AND COMPANY PLEASE THINK ABOUT FAMILIES AND CHILDREN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SALE A NEW CAR WITH USED PRODUCTS. IT'S NOT COOL AND THE SAD PART IS YOU WILL NOT FIX IT. I WAS TOLD FROM A MECHANIC THE CAR HAS EITHER PCM OR ECM PROBLEMS. THE CAR STARTS TO DIE OUT WHEN I'M DRIVING IT THEN I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF THEN RESTART IT. IT JERKS REALLY HARD WHEN DRIVING IT. THE OIL PRESSURE LOW STOP ENGINE MESSAGE COMES ON. IT JUST HAS A LOT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE OTHER IMPALAS LIKE MINE ARE HAVING EITHER ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS OR SOME OF THE SAME PROBLEMS. RECALL

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC LOCK ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TWO DIFFERENT OUTCOMES BUT STEM FROM THE SAME ISSUE. WHILE TRYING TO START MY VEHICLE I GET A CLICK AND CARE WON'T START AT ALL. SOMETIMES AFTER SEVERAL TRIES IT DOES FIRE UP. ALSO WHEN IT DOES START IT WILL SOMETIMES STALL. MOST RECENTLY WHILE TRAVELING DIDN'T THE INTERSTATE IT STALLED GOING 75MPH LEAVING ME TO COAST AND DISRUPT 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC.

THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 MILES AT 25 MPH BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE ENGINE POWERED OFF AND THE STARTER DISABLED WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
COMMUNICATION BETWEEN GAS PETAL AND THROTTLE BODY BREAKS DOWN CAUSING VEHICLE TO DISPLAY REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLOW TO 20 TO 30 MPH INSTANTLY. HAPPEN ON HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT DUE TO SLOWDOWN. SHOULD BE SAFETY RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE OR MYSELF GETS KILLED.
THE DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTION WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 80 DEGREES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU MUST USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK OR LOCK THE DRIVER DOOR AND MANUALLY OPEN THE OTHER DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. THE REMOTE KEY SYSTEM IS NOT EFFECTIVE WHEN LOCKING OR UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE. I ASKED REED LALLIER DEALERSHIP IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LOCKS BUT IT ONLY APPLIES TO THE "SS" MODEL AND NOT THE LT, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUES ARE THE SAME. THE ISSUE STARTED LAST SUMMER AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE THIS YEAR, WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS AROUND 75 AND BELOW THE LOCKS FUNCTION FINE. THE MALFUNCTION ONLY HAPPENS WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE.
TAKATA RECALL. IT HAPPEN TO ME TWICE I GOT TWO KIDS THE CAR LOST POWER FROM 45 TO TEN. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE CODE THST COMES UP IS P2138 THIS IS NOT OK NEEDS TO GET FIXED. FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN I WAS ON A HIGHWAY THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME DUE TO THE ENGINE POWER LOSS.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR FOR ONLY TWO MINUTES, THE REDUCED POWER SENSOR CAME ON AND TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON ALSO. MY CAR WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 20 MPH. WENT BACK TO NORMAL AFTER AN HOUR. VERY CONCERNING IF I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED.WAS ON A BACK COUNTRY HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
TRACTION CONTROL AND THE STABILITY TRAC REDUCES THE ENGINE SPEED UNDER NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS DRASTICALLY WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. BEEN ACTING UP FOR SOME TIME. DEALERS DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND DOESN'T GIVE A CODE. VERY DANGEROUS AND FRUSTRATING.

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO PULL THE KEY OUT. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO FIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS RECALLED A YEAR AGO AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
I AM INFORMING YOU OF SOME VERY SERIOUS CONCERNS IN REGARDS TO PARTS OF THE 07 AND 08 CHEVY IMPALA THAT HAVE FAILED CAUSING ACCIDENTS AS WELL AS INJURY AND GRAVE POTENTIAL FOR FATALITIES.AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING, SEAT BELTS NOT LOCKING ON IMPACT FIRST AND FOREMOST I HAVE REQUESTED COPIES OF THE PAPERWORK THAT WAS SUBMITTED TO THE COURTS IN SOMERSET WI. THIS SHOWED EXACTLY WHAT TOOK PLACE CAUSEING AN ACCIDENT THAT WAS CONSIDERED NEGLIGENT DUE TO MEDICATIONS I WAS ON AND MY DISABILITY. THE MECHANIC GAVE ME THIS REPORT ALONG WITH INFO STATING THAT THIS WAS A HUGE PROBLEM IN FLEET POLICE VEHICALS. THE INFO STATED THAT THE POLICE VEHICALS WERE FIXED AND CHECKED HOWEVER THIS PART HAS NO RECALL OR REVISION TO CORRECT THE SAFETY ISSUES THAT WE CAN FIND. MY VEHICAL DOES HAVE HIGH MILLAGE HOWEVER IT HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF THANKS TO ERICKSON OIL AND MECHANIC FRIENDS. THIS PART SNAPPING AFTER CRACKING ESILY RESULTED IN COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL AS WELL AS THE CAR LOCKING UP AND BECOMING IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AND STOP. IT IS DISTURBING THAT THESE PARTS WERE NOT CORRECTED FROM A MANUFACTERING ASPECT (THIS WAS LOOKED AT BY A MACHINEST, AS WELL AS AN ENGINEER AND BY THE QAULITY/DIMESIONS/STRUCTURE THIS PART EASILY LOOKED DEFECTIVE) THE VISUAL AS WELL AS SKILLED APROACH TO PROBLEM SOLVING DROVE US TO LOOK UP RECALLS PRIOR TO BUYING A NEW PART. WE COULD NOT FIND ANY. JUST INFO THAT THIS EXACT MAKE AND MODEL WERE PURCHASED AS FLEET VEHICALS IN 07 AND 08. PROBLEMS WITH MANY OF THESE CARS RESULTED IN PULLING ALL OF THE FLEET/GOVNT PATROL CARS IN TO BE FIXED/INVESTIGATED. HOWEVER WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A RECALL OR WARNING THAT SHOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN ISSUED TO THE PUBLIC. I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING INTO HELP TO INVESTIGATE AND HELP GET THIS LOOKED AT AS IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS WELL AS BEING UNSTABLE AND FAULTY IN ANOTHER MINOR IMPACT ACCIDENT POTENTIAALY INCREASING FATALITY/INJURIES.

I WAS GOING 70 MPH ON I-94 WHEN THE "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" LIGHT CAME ON, FOLLOWED BY THE "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" LIGHT, THEN SOMETHING ABOUT "DISABLING THROTTLE" SENSOR... MY CAR SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN, LEAVING ME TO COAST ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE 94. I'VE OWNED THIS 2008 IMPALA FOR JUST ABOUT A YEAR... I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I RECEIVED THE LETTER ABOUT AN EXTENDED RECALL BACK IN DECEMBER AND I CALLED GM BECAUSE THERE'S A STIPULATION OF THE AMOUNT OF MILES YOU CAN HAVE ON YOUR CAR TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM REPAIRED... BECAUSE MY CAR HAS 276000 MILES GM TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, AT THAT TIME I ASKED WHY THIS ITEM WASN'T RECALLED. I WAS TOLD IF I FELT THE PROBLEM CALLED FOR A RECALL I SHOULD REACH OUT TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY AND SAFETY COMMISSION. I DON'T EVEN FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CAR ANYMORE... THIS IS A DEATH TRAP!

I GOT A JUMP AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO GET ICHECKED THEY SAY ITS MY ECM. WHAT IS THAT AND IS IT RELATED TO THAT ELECTRICAL RECALL. I WAS IN PARK
THE AIR CONDITIONING ACTUATORS GOES BAD TO A POINT WHERE A KNOCKING NOISE WILL START TO COME FROM INSIDE THE DASHBOARD. THIS EVENTUALLY WILL KILL THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND CAUSE THE CAR TO CUT OFF COMPLETELY, EVEN WHILE DRIVING.
I STARTED SEE A WARNING LIGHT ON IN MY CAR THAT READ "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" SO I SENT GM AN EMAIL REGARDING THIS AND MAYBE A MONTH OR SO LATER I RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT SAID THE GAS THROTTLE SENSOR WILL CAUSE THIS TO APPEAR WHEN IT IS BAD. THEY ADVISED IF I FELT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM I COULD TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER AND HAVE IT CHECK, BUT IF IT WASN'T THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSTICS TEST. I TOOK MY CAR AND TOOK MY CAR , ALONG WITH THE NOTICE TO SUNRISE PONTIAC ON 12/31/15. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A THERMOSTAT A GAS PRESSURE SENSOR. THE COST TO REPAIR THESE ITEMS WOULD RUN ME ALMOST $900 AND I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT T THIS TIME. I ASKED THE TECHNICIAN, WHICH COULD I GET AWAY WITH NOT FIXING RIGHT NOW AND HE SAID I NEEDED TO GO AHEAD AND REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT TO GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF. I HAD THAT WORK DONE AND THE LIGHT STILL WAS ON, AS WELL AS, THE WARNING LIGHTS. SO I CONTACTED GM AGAIN AND ADVISED THEM OF THE SITUATION. THEY PAID FOR ME TO GO TO SERRA CHEVROLET TO GET ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC DONE. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD I NEEDED AN APP SENSOR, GAS PRESSURE SENSOR, THERMOSTAT (WHICH HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED), AND A TEMPERATURE SENSOR, ALL OF WHICH WOULD RUN ME $1300. I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT AND LEFT. I CONTACTED GM ONCE AGAIN AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS TOLD TO ME AND ASKED WHY THE SENSORS WOULD NOT BE COVERED WHEN THEY WERE APART OF THE GAS THROTTLE BODY? NOW I'M GETTING A WARNING THAT SAYS "STARTING DISABLED SERVICE THROTTLE " AND MY CAR IS LITERALLY CUTTING OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A MATTER THAT GM SHOULD BE WILLING TO REPAIR FOR THEIR CONSUMERS TO PREVENT ACCIDENT OR DEATH. I 'VE READ ON GOOGLE THAT SEVERAL IMPALA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. ALSO, WHILE I'M DRIVING MY GEAR CONTROL IS POPPING OUT. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED, "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT COMES ON. HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THEY REPAIRED THROTTLE BODY. CAR STILL ACTED THE SAME AFTER I GOT IT. DUE TO SNOW STORM I DIDN'T DRIVE IT A FEW DAYS. TWO WEEKS LATER, ENGINE POWER REDUCED STARTS AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH (THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES ALTOGETHER) NOW GM ADVISED ME TO GO BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THEY CLAIM IT'S THE GAS PEDAL SENSOR ANS NOT COVERED. REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY DID NOT ING TO FIX THE ISSUE AND MANY OTHERS HAVE HAS THIS SAME ISSUE. NOW GM REFUSES TO MAKE IT RIGHT AND I'M STUCK WITHOUT A VEHICLE BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD REPAIRS AND THE CAR IS WAY TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD CAR STARTED TO NOT START OR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO BERGLUND CHEVROLET IN ROANOKE VA. THEY CHARGED ME FOR PUTTING ANOTHER ONE ON BUT I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ALL OF THIS STARTED IN JANUARY. BERGLUND WAS TELLING ME THAT IT WAS MY BATTERY THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY. THEY ALSO DID A TUNE UP ON THE CAR BUT ONLY CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS THEY TOLD ME THAT WIRES WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A TUNE UP JUST THE SPARK PLUGS.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I WAS TRYING TO PARK, AND THE WHEEL DID NOT WANT TO MOVE. THERE WAS ALSO A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL. I WAS TOLD I PROBABLY DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING FLUID. I PUT SOME IN, THAT LASTED FOR A DAY, AND MY CAR STARTED DOING THE SAME THING ALL OVER AGAIN. ALSO WHEN I TURN, IT MAKES THE SAME NOISE. TWO OTHER PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN MY BUILDING HAVE 2007, 2008 IMPALAS, AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THEIR POWER STEERING BOX. SEEMS TO ME THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS. THIS MAKES ME VERY SCARED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
INSIDE OF REAR TIRES HAVE ABNORMAL WEAR. I WAS INFORMED BY THE TIRE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY THAT MY COOPER TIRES THAT I PUT ON IN MARCH OF 2014 HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE BALD ON THE INSIDE. I HAVE DRIVEN LESS 18,000 MILES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND THAT IT IS AN ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL. GM HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM ON POLICE ISSUED MODELS.

THIS MAY BE THE RESULT OF AN AFM (ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT-ON-DEMAND) LIFTER THAT UNLOCKS AS SOON AS THE ENGINE IS STARTED OR ONE THAT IS MECHANICALLY COLLAPSED/STUCK. IF AN AFM LIFTER UNLOCKS AS SOON AS THE ENGINE IS STARTED, A SES LIGHT AND DTC P0300 WILL BE EXPERIENCED WITH ENGINE MISFIRES ON CYLINDER 1, 4, 6 OR 7 BUT IT IS UNLIKELY THAT ANY NOISE WILL BE EXPERIENCED. IF AN AFM LIFTER IS MECHANICALLY COLLAPSED/STUCK, A CONSISTENT VALVETRAIN TICK NOISE, SES LIGHT AND DTC P0300 WILL BE EXPERIENCED WITH ENGINE MISFIRES ON CYLINDER 1, 4, 6 OR 7.

ISSUE OCCURRED TWICE SO FAR. SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED FOLLOWED BY REDUCED ENGINE POWER. 1ST TIME THIS OCCURRED THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WOULD NOT RUN. WAS ON A SMALL SIDE STREET AND ONLY DOING ABOUT 15 MPH. I LET THE CAR SIT AFTER CALLING FOR A RIDE. CAR RESTARTED AND DROVE TO DEALER 2 MILES AWAY. 2ND TIME SAME SET OF ERROR MESSAGES, CAR WAS DOING 70 ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE TIME AND DROPPED TO BELOW 50 MPH. DROVE TO DEALER. BOTH TIMES, REPAIR WAS IDENTIFIED AS BEING A DEFECTIVE ACCLERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. 2ND TIME VEHICLE HAD 92149 MILES ON IT. DO NOT HAVE THE RECORD FOR THE MILEAGE FOR THE 1ST TIME BUT IT WAS ABOUT 1 YEAR PRIOR WITH ESTIMATED MILEAGE OF 77000.
DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. DOOR LOCKS HAVE QUIT WORKING ONE BY ONE. FRONT DRIVER DOOR ONLY DOOR WITH KEY LOCKABLE UNLOCKABLE FEATURE. THEREFORE, DOORS CAN ONLY BE UNLOCKED BY UNLOCKING DRIVER DOOR AND CRAWLING INTO CAR AND MANUALLY UNLOCKING ALL OTHER DOORS. I HAVE OWNED NO OTHER CAR THAT HAD THIS FEATURE WHERE OUT IN LESS THAN SEVEN YEARS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD NOT BEING ABLE TO UNLOCK/LOCK DOORS. THE LOCKS DON'T WORK WHETHER CAR STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ONCE MORE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON A CITY STREET. SHE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND AS SHE WAS PREPARING TO ACCELERATE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A WARNING MESSAGE FLASHED STATING (ENGINE POWER REDUCED). MY DAUGHTER STATED THAT THE CAR WOULD ONLY GET UP TO 40 MPH AND RPM GAUGE WOULD NOT GO PASS 2, EVEN WHEN SHE PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR. SHE HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR 10 MILES IN FEAR THAT THE CAR WAS GOING TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY STREET WHILE IN TRANSIT. SHE FINALLY MADE IT HOME. HOWEVER, THE CAR SPEED REMAINED AT 40 MPH; DESPITE HER ATTEMPTS TO INCREASE THE SPEED. AFTER 2 HOURS HAD PASSED, I STARTED THE CAR-THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF AND WHEN I DROVE I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FASTER THAN 40 MPH. AFTER DRIVING AROUND THE BLOCK, THE CHECK ENGINE CAME BACK ON. I CONTACTED ONSTAR FOR AN ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC- THE RESULT WAS THAT THE POWERTRAIN SYSTEM HAS FAILED- A MALFUNCTION OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. AFTER I RECEIVED THAT MESSAGE, I CHECKED ON LINE FOR A RECALL- I DISCOVERED SEVERAL SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALAS- ONLY THE GOVERNMENT ISSUED VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WERE RECALLED. WHY??? THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE/CONCERN/PROBLEM. WILL IT TAKE MULTIPLE TRAGIC CAR ACCIDENTS BEFORE A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM? MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000 MILES- AND IN THE COMPLAINTS, I NOTICED A COMPLAINT THAT HAD THE SAME MILEAGE DOCUMENTED. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR ANY DISTANT AND I'M ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE PRICE OF THE REPAIR. I RECENTLY HAD A TUNE-UP AT SERRA CHEVROLET IN MADISON, TN (OCT. 2015)THAT COST ME OVER $600.00. AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY AND QUITE OFTEN. THE CHEVROLET DEALER TOLD ME THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON OR WHEN THE SEATBELT LATCH TRIGGERS THE AIRBAG NOT TO DEPLOY.
REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE, FAULTY BACK DOOR LOCKS, HEATING ACTUATOR REPAIRS. THIS IS A REVISED COMPLAINT TO ONE I ALSO MADE FOR JUST THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE. AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON HERE I HAVE FOUND THAT MY CAR HAS SEVERAL OF THE ISSUES NOT JUST REDUCED ENGINE POWER. I AM MOST CONCERNED WITH THE CAR CUTTING OUT WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER HOWEVER WE ALSO HAVE LOCKS THAT DON'T OPEN/LOCK WITH REMOTE WHICH HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS AND SINCE LAST WINTER HEATER ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR UNTIL YOU ACCELERATE THE CAR. THIS MONTH WE HAD CAR REPAIRED FOR A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER GLOVE BOX WHILE CAR WAS RUNNING OR SHUT OFF. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED AS A NEW ACTUATOR AND DID REPAIR. THIS HOWEVER DID NOT REPAIR THE BLOWING OF COLD AIR AND ALSO THIS IS WHEN THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING STARTED. I AM A FORMER GMAC EMPLOYEE AND HAVE HAD GM VEHICLES FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL AND THAT GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THESE.
