Starfire Solarus AS All-Season 225/60R16 98H- Car started shaking violently while I was driving it- seemed to be coming from rear tire. Limped it home, removed driver side rear tire, and noticed substantial bulge where tread was separating. Replaced tire with another brand. Several months later, same thing happened, and removed the remaining Starfire Solarus AS All-Season 225/60R16 98H tire, the passenger side rear tire, and noticed same defect. I bought both tires Mar 15, 2021 on Amazon, but have driven car very little. Unfortunately the shop that installed them didn't note mileage on receipt but the tread looks brand new (other than the defect). Looked at amazon and noticed other customers reporting the same defect! [XXX] I think these tires are very dangerous and are going to cause somebody to get injured or worse, especially since both tires are affected by defects and other consumers are reporting the exact same issue on amazon reviews. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS-2 TIRES, SIZE: P225/55R17. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THERE WAS A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE TIRES. SPRING VALLEY GOODYEAR OF COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE TIRES. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
INSIDE OF REAR TIRES HAVE ABNORMAL WEAR. I WAS INFORMED BY THE TIRE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY THAT MY COOPER TIRES THAT I PUT ON IN MARCH OF 2014 HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE BALD ON THE INSIDE. I HAVE DRIVEN LESS 18,000 MILES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND THAT IT IS AN ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL. GM HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM ON POLICE ISSUED MODELS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR GPS2 TIRES, SIZE: P225/75R15. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES WERE SEPARATED FROM THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE WALL OF THE TIRE. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS TREAD SEPARATION AND THE TIRES EXHIBITED BUBBLES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT NEW TIRES WERE NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ON MY FATHER'S CAR, GOODYEAR EAGLES, WORE SO BADLY ON THE INSIDE THAT THE TREAD SPLIT NEAR THE SIDEWALLS & WAS COMING OFF. I, A 69 YEAR OLD WOMAN, WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE ON A TRIP DURING A DOWNPOUR. FORTUNATELY, THE NATIONAL TIRE STORE THAT I USE DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WHEN DOING A FREE PRESSURE CHECK OR I COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM WHILE ON THE ROAD. I KNOW THAT THE STORE DIDN'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME BECAUSE I ACTUALLY LOOKED AT THE TIRES MYSELF. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO AMERICAN AUTOMOTIVE TIRE AND SERVICES, STAFFORD, VA. THE TIRE HAD BEEN LOSING PRESSURE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, ON FEB. 1, 2012, MY FRIEND TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER TIRE SERVICE CENTER ALONG GARRISONVILLE ROAD, STAFFORD, VA, WHERE THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN PROVIDED COPIES OF GM BULLETIN # 05-03-10-003F: LOW TIRE PRESSURE, LEAKING CAST ALUMINUM WHEELS (REPAIR WITH ADHESIVE SEALANT) - (APR 27, 2010) AND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA SS. ON FEB 2, 2012, RADLEY CHEVROLET, FREDERICKSBURG, VA, (RADLEY) FOUND THAT "THE LEFT REAR RIM IS LEAKING AIR" AND "FOUND INNER RIM LEAKING AIR ON BEAD." THE TECHNICIAN FOLLOWED #05-03-10-003F AND VERIFIED THE REPAIR. ON SEPT 12, 2012, RADLEY'S TECH "FOUND AFTER LETTING RIM SIT IN TANK FOR PERIOD OF TIME - VERY SMALL LEAK COMING FROM INSIDE OF CAST ALUMINUM WHEEL . . . " ON OCT. 11, 2012, RADLEY CLEANED THE CORROSION FROM THE WHEELS AND ADDED ADHESIVE SEALANT. THE TIRE CONTINUED TO LEAK. ON OCT. 22, 2013, OURISMAN CHEVROLET, ALEXANDRIA, VA, FOUND "ONGOING LOSS OF AIR FROM TIRES - POSSIBLE BEAD CORROSION; CAUSE OF AIR LOSS FROM LEFT FRONT WHEEL SMALL LEAK THREW [SIC] RIM IN WHERE RIM HAS OXIDIZED [SIC] ...OTHER WHEELS SHOWING SAME OXIDIZED [SIC] MARKS." GM AGREED TO PAY 60% OF THE COST OF ONE WHEEL REPLACEMENT $330.28. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED TO GM THAT ALL FOUR WHEELS BE REPLACED FOR $1088.73. GM AUTHORIZED REPLACING ONE WHEEL. GM'S #05-03-10-003F APPLIES TO ALL PRIOR YEARS OF ALL PASSENGER CARS & LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS. GM MUST RESOLVE THIS LONG-STANDING DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD PAY TO REPLACE ALL OF MY WHEELS AT ITS SOLE EXPENSE. *TR
IN MARCH 2009 I PURCHASED A 2008 IMPALA NICE CAR. NEW TIRES WERE PURCHASED AT APP 26000 MI. BY PREVIOUS OWNER. APP19,000 MI LATER I MUST BUY NEW TIRES. MY REAR TIRES WORE DOWN TO THE METAL THIS WINTER. I DID ALL THE PROPER ROTATIONS AND MAINTAINED PROPER INFLATION. I THOUGHT THE TIRES WERE INFERIOR BUT MY TIRE PEOPLE SAY ITS THE CAR. I PURCHASED A USED 2008 CHEVROLET ON 10/15/2010 AND THE DEALERSHIP PUT A CURRENT INSPECTION CERTIFICATE ON THE VEHICLE. DURING AN UNRELATED VISIT TO MY AUTO MECHANIC HE NOTICED THE TIRES ( FRONT ONLY ) AND STATED THEY WERE NOT GOOD AND IF HE WOULD HAVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, HE WOULD HAVE PLACED A "REJECTION STICKER" ON THE M/V. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THEY WERE OK. WENT BACK TO AUTO MECHANIC WHO ADVISED ME TO FILE COMPLAINT.
SEVERE TIRE WEAR. 2008 CHEVY IMPALA WITH GOODYEAR INTEGRITY TIRES. HAD TO HAVE ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED AT 33,000 MILES, MIND YOU THESE ARE 50,000 MILES TIRES THAT HAVE BEEN ROTATED AND KEPT AT THE RECOMMENDED PSI. THEY ARE SEVERELY WORN ON THE INNER AND OUTER EDGES AND CAN SEE THE WEAR BARS. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE TIRES TO BEGIN WITH ARE JUNK! I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THEM BEING THAT THIS CAR IS A LEASE AND ONLY HAVE 4 MONTHS LEFT WITH IT TILL THE TURN IN DATE. THE UNNAMED TIRE STORE TOLD ME THAT I NEED AN ALIGNMENT BUT THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY CAR GOES TO NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT NEEDING THE ALIGNMENT. *TR
NOTICED ABNORMAL AND EXCESSIVE TIRE FEATHERING. HAD RESEARCHED AND FOUND PREVIOUS TO MY OWN EXPERIENCE THAT OTHERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, SO I HAD BEEN MONITORING MY OWN TIRES TO SEE IF IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW. ONE MECHANIC TOLD ME AFTER I PURCHASE 4 NEW TIRES, WHICH ONLY HAVE 34,000 MILES ON A 50,000 MILE RATING, HE WOULD TRY AN ALIGNMENT TO SEE IF IT NEED FOUR NEW STRUTS AS HE WAS ASSUMING WAS THE MAIN PROBLEM BEHIND THE TIRE WEAR. I CALLED A LOCAL GM SERVICE CENTER TO SEE IF THEY HAD SUGGESTIONS FOR ME. THE GUY TOLD ME 4 NEW TIRES AND THE FEW OTHERS WE HAVE SERVICED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AN ADJUSTMENT HAD TO BE MADE BY ELONGATING THE HOLES TO PULL THE TIRES INTO A GOOD ALIGNMENT, ELIMINATING THE OUTWARD CAMBER. HE FOUND THIS INFO IN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. GM HAS RECALLED PUBLIC SERVICE VEHICLES, IE POLICE CARS, OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL, BUT HAS YET TO SEE THE PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD BEHIND THIS EASILY REMEDIED ISSUE. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME AT-LEAST $700 FOR PREMATURELY WORN TIRES AND REPAIRS AND ADJUSTMENTS. IMAGINE IF I HAD BEEN AWARE OF THIS PREVIOUS TO MY OWN INCIDENT. I WOULD ASSUME I STILL HAD 15-20000 MILES OF TREAD-LIFE LEFT AND WOULD BE DRIVING MY CAR AS IF THERE WERE NO PROBLEM AT-ALL UNTIL MY TIRES BLEW WHILE DRIVING MY SON BACK TO HIS MOTHERS HOUSE, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, KILLING MY SON AND I AS WELL AS TWO OTHERS IN ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE-IN LAYS THE SAFETY ISSUE. A PROMPT AND THOROUGH INVESTIGATION WILL SHOW IT'S A DESIGN FLAW THAT IS PUTTING LIVES AT RISK. THE SOONER THE DEFECT IS CORRECTED, THE SOONER PEOPLES LIVES AND WALLETS CAN REST AT EASE. I WOULD CERTAINLY BE WILLING TO ANSWER ANY OTHER QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. *TR
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM PROVIDES READINGS FOR INCORRECT TIRE. TPMS REPORTED PRESSURE FOR DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEN ACTUAL READING WAS FOR PASSENGER FRONT. INCORRECT READING COULD CAUSE DRIVER TO CHECK THE WRONG TIRE, CONCLUDE THAT TIRE WAS DRIVABLE, THEN HAVE TIRE FAILURE ON THE DIFFERENT TIRE. *TR
